TR Music & Voice Lessons: what do users think?

Greta Burrows: Both my kids really like their instructors. They are patient and knowledgeable. My son has been playing piano for over 6 years and my daughter started violin.

Karmen Armitage: My son has learned more piano in eight months of instruction then he did in eighteen months with his prior teacher. He incorporates all of the important aspects of a musical education in his lessons.

Yuriko Puryear: I would recommend her anytime for guitar lessons. My son has learned a lot considering he has only been taking lessons since the end of September.

Dorathy Conner: Not only is he damn good on the guitar, but he is a really good teacher. He knew right away what I am capable of and came up with a lesson plan that is awesome.

Middle C Music: what do users think?

James Hurwitz: Without reservation, Middle C Music deserves the highest possible recommendation. They did a superb job of cleaning up and giving an overall tune-up to my antique guitar and repairing my antique mandolin. In the process, I saw how the staff at Middle C —Nick, Tom, Dave and Hillary — interacted not just with me but customers and students of all ages and abilities. What I appreciated most was their low key manner and the pleasure they took in enhancing the joy that others got from their instruments, music, and lessons. This is truly an excellent music store.

Gillian Edick: We popped into Middle C to have a guitar restrung and tuned. They did it quickly, but more importantly made it great fun for my aspiring but beginner guitarist. Tom was amazing - so helpful and took the time to show my son how to tune the guitar, hold it and get started. Really fantastic service. Thanks Tom and team!

Paul Myers: I purchased a piano from these fine people, and I love it. It was very competitively priced. I have also purchased a guitar, and I have had these folks restring several guitars, and they do a great job —and again, the price is right. I love supporting small businesses, and Middle C Music is one of the best!

Fernando Nogueira: Super friendly and helpful staff. We were missing a very specific guitar screw and they helped us out in no time.

Susanna Gregory: I LOVED it here! Stopped by for a new guitar and the staff was immediately willing to help and super friendly. The prices were great and I was really impressed with all the cool little things you could buy too! I didn’t get the names of the people who helped me but they were fantastic

Michelle Long: I had the best time at Middle C Music! Everyone was super knowledgeable, supportive, and friendly. I came in looking for a 3/4 size acoustic guitar for traveling and had my pick of a beautiful selection. Big fan!! Will return!

Music on the Hill: what do users think?

Maritza Cooper: What a lovely place to not only purchase an instrument but learn how to use it! We started with my granddaughter learning the violin and moved on to mommy taking guitar lessons. Very homey atmosphere and great with kids of all ages! When I finally have the time I want to learn how to play drums!

Donovan Dorrance: Aaron hooked me up with a great set-up for my telecaster. Helped fix some intonation issues. So very grateful for his expertise, efficiency, and kindness. Highly recommend coming here! They will treat you right!!!

Shawn Benson: Music on the Hill - The Hill’s own neighborhood music shop. Pretty cool. I’m a new client at Music on the Hill and I’m a very satisfied customer. My wife and I look forward to coming back, taking lessons, and recommending this neighborhood music shop to our musically-inclined or curious friends. Their prices are often just as good (and sometimes better) than their competition. The customer service/expertise is spot-on. And, you feel good knowing your money is going back to a small, local business. Frankly, it’s an investment in our community and that’s almost reason enough these days. Give them a shot. They don’t have everything, but they’ve got a lot and it was more than enough for us.

anne phelps: My whole family loves Music on the Hill! Lindy is a terrific resource on all things music related. We’ve had great experiences with lessons (clarinet and guitar) and when we wanted to upgrade to a wooden clarinet, Lindy & Luke found us a quality used instrument. If there’s something we need and they don’t have it, they’ve always been able to get it in short order. Music on the Hill is everything a local music store should be.

Amaobi Otiji: I had an enjoyable experience buying a guitar here. Their shop setup is really aesthetically pleasing and their selections were all from very quality makers. The staff were very helpful in finding something that fit me by giving me a lot of options to work with. I also enjoyed them showing off the instruments with their musical skills.

Eric Schneider: Since this place added a guitar tech and luthier, I have taken in three guitars and received perfect setups and provided great service in general. So glad to have these folks in Capitol Hill instead of having to give a conglomerate like Guitar Center my business!

Kevin Wholihan: Had an amazing purchasing experience here and came away with a gorgeous acoustic. The staff was attentive, knowledgeable, quickly found me the right size and a great fit. Very good COVID precautions. Will be back for my next major purchase.

Lessons In Your Home: what do users think?

Michael: Positive: Communication, Professionalism, QualityThis made getting lessons for my 3 kids a snap. I even started taking guitar lessons with them. They found Josh who can teach the kids piano and guitar for myself. Kids are having a blast and I am enjoying picking up the guitar again. Josh is great. Patient with the kids and myself. He is a real pleasure.

Christina Malekiani: We have had a wonderful experience with both of our children and LIYH. We have been clients since before covid and have been impressed with their rapid changes in protocols for covid that were simultaneously so smooth and made for easy transitions for the kids. After also taking a hiatus from one instrument for one child, LIYH was so helpful in transitioning that child back to another instrument and with a different coach that was an even better fit. Heather is extremely professional and proactive and an excellent communicator. She listens well to what each family and child needs and guides appropriately with her recommendations and seems to be spot on. Joseph has been absolutely amazing with our daughter on guitar—one of the most patient, kind teachers we have seen and knows how to keep her motivated and excited. She loves him and can’t wait for lessons each week with him! Nicole has been wonderful on piano with our son and knows how to challenge him appropriately while still keeping him encouraged. We have been extremely pleased with LIYH and will continue to work with them as long as our kids keep enjoying playing an instrument.

Tammie Dzubak: My son is a beginner at violin. Joseph has successfully taught him via Zoom (due to the pandemic). Joseph is patient, encouraging, and motivating. He truly understands how to teach children. Most importantly Joseph has instilled confidence in him and he is eager to practice daily. We look forward to a time when Joseph and my son can practice together.

Fallon McNeil: Steve Boone (Richmond VA) is so kind, patient, and fun with our two children (ages 10 and 7). Their excitement and love for music has only increased since starting lessons with him. Heather made the enrollment process effortless and answered all of our questions thoroughly. We have had a WONDERFUL experience with this company. Thank you!

Jonathan Moak: Positive: Communication, Professionalism, Quality, ValueLiz has been such a patient and professional piano coach for our daughter. I have really enjoyed watching my 6 year old learn. Highly recommended.

Ilona Horchler: Positive: Communication, Professionalism, Quality

Dudley's B Sharp Academy: what do users think?

Lisa Jamison: A great learning experience! Being a beginner piano student, the training I received from Mr. Dudley was great especially since I didn’t know my way around the piano. He is very patient and thorough. I definitely would recommend this studio for all your musical ambitions!

fatima khambaty: Mr Dudley is patient and meets you right where you are- even as an adult student . He was able to assess me right away and we jumped right back (after my break of 25 years) into piano Lessons. He understands even though I have no jazz background how to get me to start thinking differently from my classical training. Honestly- he makes learning fun, easy and less daunting ! Thank you !

Lamia Matta: My 5-year old daughter loved taking ukulele classes with Mr. Dudley. After only a few classes, she became very enthusiastic about playing music. The classes also gave her a lot of confidence. Mr. Dudley is super kind and has a very very nice manner. I highly highly recommend the school.

HARVEY Harris: He is an excellent teacher and my 8y/o son has learned so much in a short time. He gets right down to business, and he allows him to advance at his own pace. My son looks forward to piano lessons every week. I would recommend him to anyone; a true christian demeanor on top of it all.

Bruce Britton: Working with Coach Dudley has been an amazing experience, He is very encouraging and I like that he pushes you put of your comfort zone in order for you to grow as a vocalist. I have worked with him and seen improvement as a singer. I definitely would recommend taking up his classes to anyone!

Natasha: Mr Dudley is great! My kiddos (ages 5&3) love taking lessons with him. I especially appreciate his approach in teaching younger kids.

kara taylor: Amazing, amazing, amazing. One lesson and I saw my daughter shine! She is autistic with add and Darryl was so patient with her. I am a thankful and proud mom.

Chevy Chase Arts Academy: what do users think?

Suz Brown: I have a 6 year old boy who has been taking piano lessons at CCAA for a year now. He loves his lessons and is already sight reading! His teacher, Miss Olivia, is positive, upbeat, and full of laughter. It is clear that Levon, the director, is very much connected in the music community and there are many talented teachers here. Best of all, the environment is warm, and we have been treated like family from day 1, even during the worst of the pandemic.

Jonathan Kula: Nearly my entire family takes lessons at Chevy Chase Arts Academy, and we could not be happier with our experience. Our youngest, 8, has been progressing and enjoying the piano for months now. Her instructor, Manuel De La Luz, is patient and inspiring, and gives perfect feedback. Our other daughter and I take guitar from Arnell Byrd, who is both effortlessly cool and also teaches theory in an accessible way. Levon Mikailean, the founder, has been extremely supportive in making our family musical. The website is easy to navigate, and the zoom lessons are very effective. Still much to learn, but we are playing together and enjoying the practice! No, really, we are! I cannot recommend these folks more highly. They are just the best.

Pavel Khrimian: This Academy is fantastic! Everything you want to see in art/music academy. Very talented teachers, very friendly, and convenient in terms of availability. Highly recommend piano lessons with Levon, as both my daughters are taking piano lessons with him. Any instrument you can think of they offer lessons, wide range of professional instructors, which is awesome to see in this area. Definitely recommend Chevy Chase Arts Academy Maryland.

Margarita Saringulyan: My daughter really enjoys her piano classes and is excited not only to go to class but also practice at home. Music is a big part of her life now! We are thankful we found the Academy and highly recommend the piano teacher Levon!!!

Tatevik Gevorgyan: We decided to join the Chevy Chase Art Academy as our last try before giving up – or at least pausing – on music. After we started our classes with Bienvenido, in only a month I saw how our child (8yo) changed completely. The teachers at the Academy are professionals, very gentle and thoughtful with kids and they make the learning process fun for them. They show individual approach to every student – key to every learning process. After only 5 months of classes, my son plays music all the time, whenever he has a free moment. I don’t need to ever remind him to practice – he enjoys it. I am so glad we gave this school a chance before giving up, because now we are looking forward to our music classes with delight and big hopes.

Ruth Trombka: As an adult I have attempted to play the piano three time in the past. Levon is the first teacher to make it feel like an achievable goal. His relaxing style, as well as his emphasis on enjoying the process of making music (while also teaching the necessary fundamentals), has helped me feel fearless and completely capable. I imagine he is equally easy-going yet effective with children. He is simply a kind and gentle person who seems to derive sincere pleasure from helping others learn, no matter their level.

Lauren Theriot: Wonderful music school! Very qualified and dedicated instructors and a wonderful environment to learn!

Tata M: My daughter loves these classes! I have recommended this school to our school friends as well! The teachers do such a great job of being relatable to the kids, making them want to keep going! Thank you, guys!

They are just starting out on their musical journey and this can be a challenge for both the kids, and the teachers. We really appreciate the patience of the instructor - she is really doing a good job introducing our kids to music and is patient with them. The front desk staff is very friendly too and helps us quite a bit to set the weekly schedule. The new location is perfect for us and the facilities are really nice!

Elizabeth Clifton: Positive: Communication, Professionalism, Quality, ValueISM has great, timely communication, especially during these days of requiring on-the-spot technical coordination and they have been excellent about providing extra time when technical struggles prevent on-time starts. Chuck Levin's Washington Music Center: what do users think?

Carlton Jones: Chuck Levins Washington Music Center, has been the most anticipated retail store visit since I was 13 years old. Every local musician I know in DC has spent time and money at Chuck’s. I recently made a purchase and it went as all my transactions made there since approx 1970. This time it was online but a very personal affair, Adam Levin was helpful and more accommodating that an old guy could ask for. It was still like xmas awaiting my package that came overnight and with a wonderful gift. I can honestly say it was the most emotional purchase I’ve made in decades, not the most expensive, not a life changing acquisition just a memory evoking moment that included family members and friends passed on that I think of frequently whom I spent many hours playing music with and having the best times of my life. Me, my family, friends and Chuck Levin’s Washington Music Center…. Thanks again Adam, if this is my last purchase please know they have all been the best!

Rachel Ellis: Bought my fiancé a guitar here a year ago. Sales person was friendly and helpful. Good covid protocol for the time. Sales people weren’t pushy and were well informed on guitars. Bought the Taylor GS Mini and it’s been a great guitar. Would definitely check them out if you’re in the market for an instrument. Only downside was slightly outdated equipment/billing systems, but nothing a little patience doesn’t fix.

Richard Capeless: My experience was through an online order and I am here to testify to their exceptional customer service. I had a small problem with a piece of gear I was really excited to get, and the staff went above and beyond the call of duty to accommodate me. General manager Adam Levin reach out to me and oversaw my exchange. That kind of personal touch made it clear that they care about their customers.

Bryce Wagner: I worked personally with Pete Fleming to order my new bass amp. I saw a post on Reverb for an amp I had been looking for and Pete was very helpful. I’d also like to mention that he made me feel safe making such an expensive purchase over the phone for it to be shipped to my home town. Pete even went back to the warehouse to grab the amp because we both couldn’t believe they actually had one in stock. As soon as I paid, it was removed from reverb and he’s sent me receipts very swiftly to assure it was mine! I would highly recommend this store. If I had one complaint, it’s that it isn’t in my hometown. Haha

Gary Rosen: Ordered on-line and called when I got there. Brought my purchase right to my car. Shop local! Spent a bunch of time there today with Pete who was super helpful in helping me decide what guitar to consider

dylanvs: I ordered a yamaha dtx8k mesh electric kit online. This kit was impossible to find anywhere else backordered on every other music site i went to so i was already happy i found it here. They got it to me quick using a freight company called distribution by air, i think it took just about a week which is good considering it was an entire pallet of boxes. The customer service from both the freight company and chuck levins was great, both companies reached out concerning my delivery making sure i could be there to sign and to let them know id got my shipment. Also the shop pay option for 4 installments is a huge plus! Couldnt ask for more

Mitzo: The staff are amazing, a huge variety of musical equipment, and I managed to get rototoms at over a 90% discount! If you’re in the area I 100% recommend stopping here

Foxes Music Co.: what do users think?

Vassilios Vassiliadis-Laouto Lobby: Fantastic local music store. Customer service is awesome and the manager Dave Belazis always goes above and beyond to help you get the best deal. They also offer musical classes and sell any type of musical instrument, accessories and equipment. I rather support this nice store than other online or other real music shops.

Dale Dean: Extremely professional service allowed me to find the right edition of sheet music that I wanted. And we conferred back and forth by text messages before I even entered the store to pick up the edition. Outstanding and responsive treatment.

T King: Very cool old school music shop, lotta different instruments, sheet music etc. Not sure how competitive prices on guitar amps are. Fun to browse. Looks like the do lessons and repairs, too.

aria moshrefi: Came in just to exchange the rental violin for my son. Brian A was so helpful. He showed us the problem was was not the size of the violin but the locations of the tape was not correct. Excellent free assistance by such a nice employee Thank you you so much !

Christine Hill: I went to Foxes music just to come see and admire the store cause of all the instruments. It was my first time going there and usually i’m a anxious mess kind of a person. I was immediately greated by good ol Dave! (Welcoming and friendly) He showed me some books, amps, intruments, etc. demoed some pedals. Not once was there a pressure to buy or anything which was super nice! No sales pitch and I thoroughly appreciated that. I saw this mustang and he showed it to me and all was history! I walked out with a slammin deal and stand in top of that! Thanks so much Dave! Will definitely be coming back!

Action Music Ltd: what do users think?

TJ Sanner: I love guitars. I love visiting awesome shops that have amazing inventory and amazing staff that are excited to be in that environment. Action did not disappoint today. Hands down the best inventory of Huss & Dalton, Collings, and vintage Martin. They even spur of the moment fit me in and made a quick truss rod adjustment while I waited. Totally unbelievable. I am a small business owner myself and only hope these guys know how awesome they are! Thanks for an amazing visit, truly a 6star experience! We traveled from Annapolis just to see their shop and will be back 100%.

Matt Lyttle: The greatest guitar shop around, no question. Incredible selection of new and vintage instruments. All sorts of pedals and gear. Extremely knowledgeable staff. And they are as welcoming as can be. Just be respectful of their stuff and they will treat you like family - no matter how deep (or empty) your pockets are!

Elisa: Great store! The staff are so friendly, kind, and willing to share advice. I always have a pleasant experience taking my guitars in for work or browsing for new gear.

Matthew Morgan: This place is the best guitar shop in the DMV and it’s not even close. The guys know their stuff and they care about what they do. I came in with a California strat a few months ago and the owner took time to walk me through the history of the guitar, the value, and helped me weigh pros and cons of investing in some repairs. They’ve set up 4 of my guitars and have done A+ work on each one. Love these guys!

Cameron Quinn: Music shops like this are a dying bread and thankfully we still have killer shops like Action. Super knowledgeable about all things music and guitars. Best and most eclectic selection of vintage guitars in the area. Thanks Action!

Christopher Frakes: Great selection of instruments, equipment, and accessories. Matt and co. are knowledgeable, kind, and a delight to chat with. Hands down the best music store in the area!

muscle man: action music is a really good store. the people that work there are all super nice and welcoming. i gotta come back here one day. also the location is very nice considering its right next to a record store and a recording studio

Shawn Hatfield: Always a good time. Thank you guys for the Orange cab this time. I usually get vintage fuzz pedals here. Great selection of instruments, amps, fx, and other music goodies!

Guitar Lessons with Tempee Warmack: what do users think?

joe hernando: I have been taking lessons with Tempee for a while. He’s really easy to work with. His knowledge of music theory and all things guitar has been extremely helpful in adopting new techniques and styles. He’s patient and encouraging in helping me attain my goals at improving my guitar work. Whether you are an absolute beginner or just want to improve your skills, I would recommend studying with him.

Lysbet Evans: I have had the pleasure of studying guitar with Tempee for 4 years. He taught me music theory as it relates to the guitar as well as the techniques to master , in my case, modern blues guitar. If I was starting out I would highly recommend him because he will start you using the proper techniques to play and practice. Furthermore, If you are more seasoned in your musical journey, I would work with him as you will find he works well with advanced students. As for me, I have improved immensely and you can too!

Emily G.: In the two years since I sat down for my first lesson, Tempee Warmack has broaded my knowledge of the guitar to an advanced level. When I first met Tempee, I barely knew anything about the guitar. However, his technique of teaching made things easy to understand and remember. His kind nature and patience allows for him to easily work with kids and adults. Tempee is also willing to flexible to your schedule. He lets you decide what you want to learn, wether it be soloing, chord progressions, or music theory. Plus, you can always look forward to the next lesson, as Tempee makes them fun and interesting. I am extremely glad that I had the chance to have Tempee as my instructor, and I would highly recommend him to players of all experience.

Shawn Davis: Tempee has an amazing command of music theory and he is gifted at helping his students apply that theory to the Guitar. He is also happy just to teach you a new song. Tempee is an excellent instructor and very willing to tailor his lessons to suit your desires. I highly recommend Tempee for guitarists of all ages and levels.

John M.: Tempee is a fantastic teacher and musician, and I would highly recommend him to anyone looking to begin or advance their knowledge about music. I knew nothing about the guitar when I walked through his door, and three years later I can play better than many of my friends who have played since youth. More importantly than my playing, Tempee has fostered for me a life-long love for the instrument and confidence in myself. Personalized lessons are the quickest and most effective way to learn an instrument, and there isn’t anyone better than Tempee. He has broken the mold of traditional guitar instruction and developed his own methods for incrementally increasing a student’s knowledge and playing ability. He completely caters his lessons to his student’s individual interests. From day one I have told him what I was burning to play and that is exactly what he has taught me, while slowly giving me the knowledge of music theory that I need to be a confident and competent musician. It’s always so much easier to learn when you love what you are playing. Nobody will tell you that learning an instrument is simple, but it is amazing how quickly and efficiently you can learn with an amazing teacher. After three years of lessons I have never found the limit of his patience, and he has always helped me through the times when I felt as if I had met mine. I still have a lot that I wish to learn, and you won’t find me learning it from anybody but Tempee.

Charles Duvall: An excellent music instructor, Tempee can not only teach music theory and guitar technique, he will have you so interested in your instrument and the song you are working on that you cannot wait to practice. Both my son and I have taken lessons from Tempee and the improvement has been amazing.

Kenneth J. Russell: Tempee is an outstanding teacher. His students range from very young (10 or younger) to fairly mature (I’m almost 60!). What I’ve noticed over the past few years is Tempee’s ability to relate to each student no matter their age. This ability is crucial to successful teaching and he has it! I came to Tempee knowing little to nothing about music or the guitar. I’m no doubt much smarter about music and I can actually play the bass guitar a bit and it sounds pretty good. It’s an amazing feeling to actually play along with a song. I appreciate everything Tempee has done for me and I highly recommend him to anyone, no matter the age or skill level, wanting to learn how to play the guitar.

School of Rock: what do users think?

Laura Spriggs Gray: We started drum lessons for my daughter two months ago and she is loving it. She even enjoys practicing which is very different from previous music lessons. The instructors make it fun to learn and the staff are pleasant and helpful. Highly recommend giving them a try if your children are interested in music.

Cary And Ian Phillips: We love the atmosphere and experience that Haymarket School of Rock provides. We have nothing but great things to say about the past 3 years. We look forward to many more!

Andrea Hiltner: My kids have been coming to School of Rock since they opened in Haymarket and have loved every moment. The staff is wonderful and my children went from never having picked up an instrument to playing in the Rock 101 band in just a few months. If your child has any interest in music The School of Rock in Haymarket is the place to be.

LMS D: Awesome program. Their instructors are top-notch and the group lessons help the kids make an amazing amount of progress in such a short period of time because of the program. I’d recommend this to anyone looking for an awesome program for kids who want to learn an instrument :)

Jason Dunick: Positive: Quality
