Zorba's Café: what do users think?

Jessica Martin: A delight of a place with kind and considerate workers. Very conscious of multiple allergens including peanut and gluten. Their gluten free pita, while a bit expensive, is DELICIOUS and filling! I got the yero in a GF pitta and when I arrived the lady clarified and made sure I knew the yero meat was not gluten free. I’ve a minor allergy so it was alright but it struck me that she’d take the time to make sure I understood. It was worth eating for the flavor haha I was just sad when it was all gone.

Julian Fishov: Friendly staff. Love how efficient this place is. You order what you want, right away you get your drinks, sit down at any table, within 10 min they bring you your food. Chicken slouvaki was delicious. Pita was soft and hot. Highly recommend this place. Very reasonably priced, good portions.

pooria riahi: I have liked this place since long time ago. It is about efficiency, you order get the food quickly and enjoy sitting outside near dupont and leave. Since it is more like a fast food spot, your experience is somewhere between a restaurant and a fast food location. I would generally rate the location 10/10, food quality 7/10 and service is 7/10.

Hanna Ozbeki: chicken sandwich was so flavorful!! and kebab plate was good but not amazing!

Leah Lambart: Delicious food and fast service. We ate outside in the street area. You order at the counter, they give you a number, and you seat yourself. The food was fast to arrive and we enjoyed all of it. We had a salad, soup, and some of the dips. A spicy hummus and cucumber one. They were all great!

Yas NA: Average to mediocre food, gyro is dry with very little portion. Bread was dry and crunchy from being on the grill. The meat was flavorless. DC is not the place for Greek food, I tried 2 spots and neither one was good. The portions are less than half the portions in New York and New Jersey and the taste is not even close.

Stephanie Senkevich: This place is awesome! Extremely friendly delicious and options for everyone. We were having trouble finding dinner as some wanted pizza and some had a gluten allergy and this place solved all our problems. I am in the area visiting and this place has the most gluten free options available I was so excited to have gluten free pita. Definitely give this a try if you are in the area

Adrian Perez-Tamayo: Very bad experience. Got the combo plate, and all the food on the plate was borderline cold. The rice was mushy and gross. The side salad contained a few pieces of lettuce, a slice of tomato, a single olive, and a laughable amount of feta cheese. The meat was seasoned okay but was bone dry and also cold. The tzatziki was extremely watery and the hummus was gritty and gross. Even the pita came out cold and crusty. If you want good Greek come to Salt Lake City’s “Best Chicken & Ribs” which blows this place out of the water.

Paula Kaufman: This is some of the worst food I’ve ever had. It’s not Greek. The falafel pita was a joke. A tiny handful of lettuce, two miniature tomato slices and a few super old, old falafels. I paid about 14 for that. First I sent of back for more lettuce, then tomatoes. It did not help a thing. The sauce was not even the right sauce. It tasted like a bad grocery store Cesar. This is my second disappointing meal at the terrible place. I keep thinking one dish will be good. Nope. The problem is that there are no chefs, just a punch of people hired to follow a paper. Nothing is cooked on spot except fries. Nothing. Do not go to this awful and overpriced restaurant. Not worth my one star.

Souvlaki: what do users think?

Hanna Foreman: Favorite Greek restaurant in DC. The food is always fresh and hot. The pitas always come with a generous amount of fries stuffed inside that are crisp and well salted. The meat is cooked to perfection, while the pita is fluffy but not too soggy. This is my go-to spot for lunch in the area. Outdoor seating is limited because of the space outside but jump on it if there’s a free table.

Larry “Big Schlim” Mcleod: I straight up saw another reviewer go here. As soon as I saw their review, I knew that I had to have it. So guess what… I got myself together and went down to go get some of this delicious looking Greek food. Now… Let’s see what they’re hittin on. . Where I am: @souvlakigreekcuisine . Alexandra Ng: Souvlaki is a great place for a delicious and quick bite!! It is a fast food place, but the decor inside makes it seem a bit fancier. They also offer a fun selection of Greek drinks! However, you must purchase water if you want it.

Jason Blanchard: Really loved the food at Souvlaki. I was attending a conference at Washington Hilton and this was a close walk nearby. The fries tasted great and were plentiful. Highly recommend.

Sarah Smith: The haters don’t know what they’re talking about. My partner and I order delivery from here once every two weeks. It’s one of my favorite restaurants in DC. I always get the make your own platter with lamb, rice pilaf, and the cucumber tomato salad. Never disappoints. Portions are a bit small for the price BUT it’s worth it for the quality of the food. You can tell the tzatziki sauce is homemade. The baklava is amazing. You can tell all the food is fresh and prepared by someone who knows what they’re doing. We LOVE Souvlaki!!

Hannah: I had just signed my new lease, and went here for a celebratory meal. Delicious spanakopita! Everything was so good. But please make the baklava bigger 😭 portion was very tiny for the price

Ron Costigan: Great neighborhood restaurant. We ate at a sidewalk table on a busy evening. Get the platter. It will fill you up. No beer or alcohol served. Take out is popular.

The Greek Spot: what do users think?

Paul LaVigne: We read reviews that said this is some of the best Greek food in Washington DC and we agree. In the photos you’ll see the spinach pie that my wife had. It was flaky, flavorful, and delicious. I had the pork souvlaki platter and it did not disappoint. Along with those two meals we also sampled the roasted corn which was very delicious and had a good spice on it, and the baklava which has a nice cinnamon flavor to it. It is a small restaurant where you order at an inside counter/takeout window and either eat on the patio or if you prefer to eat inside there is also a small dining area.

Steph Guidera: Good value of quality and portion for the price. I got the gyro platter and asked for no pasta; they offered a substitute which I really appreciate! It was so delicious - will be back for quick and fantastic take out!

Nancy Cosner: Been wanting some really good Greek food and this place hit the spot. I got a falafel pita and hummus with pita. Pleasantly surprised. Great neighborhood hangout. Easy to get to. Will certainly return.

Cody Cox: A real gem! This place had exactly what we were looking for. Great local greek food, solid service and good prices. I ordered the salmon for take out and it was all great.

Gowtham Sathyan: The taste was good but the food was a little dry. Could have added more sauces and made it juicier. The portion was great and the prices are pretty cheap. Great place to have a light snack or a proper meal.

David Zeledon: Been craving a lamb/beef gyro and after hearing many good reviews about this spot I gave it a try today. All things considered with this quarantine going on I had to take out the food which was simply delicious! Great portion of meat in the gyro platter, and the fries and salad were delicious. Tzatziki sauce is homemade and light and a compliment to the meat, pita and salad. Side note you must try that soda Mash which does not have a lot of sugar AND the baklava.

Kellari Taverna: what do users think?

Abigail Morales: This place has a lot of potential. The menu, ambience and location all looked great. However, from the moment we walked in, the hostess appeared to not understand us when we mentioned our reservation. She took us to a table and we waited over 10 minutes to be greeted. My husband got up to ask for a server. In response they sent over the same hostess (according to her they were very busy so she would take our order). She was unable to describe any of the food, how it tasted, whether it was spicy or not etc.. Later we were assigned a server who apologized for the situation with the hostess. The server proceeded to ask for our whole order (we had just given the host) all over again. As for the food- the potatoes with the lamb chops were a little lemony, the lamb chops could have been a little more tender. The Tzatziki sauce should have been an accompanying side as it is a traditional Greek sauce. Instead, a heaping bowl of it was served in a bowl for $10 when we asked for a little bit. Nothing was terrible but it could have been better. The SA Nathanael saved the experience he was so kind and welcoming. He also took the time to make the experience intimate and make conversation. It appears the staff falls apart when they are busy here.

Ray Moreno: Enjoyed the business 3 course lunch. Lots to chose from; I started with the Prisini salad - Romain hearts, capers, scallions, dill and a feta dressing. Filled with Greek flavor. Next I had the grilled chicken souvlaki with hand cut fries, homemade tzatziki over a tomato & red onion slice. I finished with a delectable yogurt cake and an espresso! My favorite part of the whole lunch was Wanda, the manager who was beyond kind. I thought I was eating at my sister’s house…all love! My only constructive sharing is more of a reminder to myself that chicken breast on a skewer isn’t as juicy as lamb or pork so be sure to dip in the tzatziki sauce; still we’ll seasoned and moist.

comfyfuton -: Great choice for dine in during restuarant week. The staff were very welcoming and helpful when it came to questions we had about the menu. I had the Chicken Souvlaki as my entree and it was great. For me the highlight had to have been the Octopus. Super delicious & was a great option to share around the table.

Richard Nelson: We had a groupon which helped with the price. Overall great experience. Food was great mimosas were strong, and staff was nice. Only thing that hurt was the price. But what do you expect for bottomless mimosa brunch in DC. Would definitely go again for some special occasion.

Marina M: I went here for brunch with my husband and we had a great time. The service was outstanding and the food was tasty. I highly recommend the yogurt cake to finish, so tasty!

Rebeca Coronado: I found this location via Groupon. Brought my boyfriend here for Sunday brunch and wow, amazing food and amazing bottomless mimosas! We really enjoyed our time here, had a pleasant experience, and will absolutely dine here again. Most likely, would like to bring friends and family here for the brunch. The ONLY con (& this is most likely to the pandemic and low wages): not enough servers. Around 12:30-1pm, the restaurant did get busy and there were probably 2 servers. While my boyfriend and I were understanding, patient, full of mimosas, and greatly appreciated our waiter’s honesty, some patrons were clearly annoyed. There’s an obvious fix for that, but that’s neither here nor there. Again, would definitely come back.

Greek Deli & Catering: what do users think?

Tanya Thompson: I’m so excited to finally have found a gyro comparable to those I had in Greece! Everything about the gyro is perfect…the meat was grilled just enough, the pita was soft and warm, the Tzatziki was thick and flavorful. The biggest surprise was how delicious the chicken with lemon soup was. It is served with a large slice of fresh bread. Entering the establishment was very typical of Greece too, which makes me happy! Will definitely be back here…often!

Emma: Such a wonderful place!! The owner clearly cares for his customers, and the food is absolutely delicious! I had the avgolemono soup which was so tasty, and the owner gave me extra bread. The bread was clearly homemade, and fresh—it was so fluffy and warm. I definitely plan to be back after this great experience!

Panos Dimitrellos: Amazing food! The portions are big, great value for money. Having lived in Greece myself, I can tell that Kostas is the only chef that I know in the area who can provide high quality authentic Greek food.

LeeAnn King: Authentic food and atmosphere, great service and classic style. I love this place and the people and the spanakopita is worth a special trip.

Andrew Malcolm: Went here for the first time this week, and it was just as incredible as everyone says. The lamb was fresh and tender, and it comes with a generous portion of sides, salad, and bread. I threw in a few deviled eggs, and it was big enough for two meals and then some. Definitely recommend for a weekday lunch downtown.

John Seery: Probably the best value lunch in the area, well worth waiting in the line which is always out the door but always moves quickly. The food is high quality, and the portions are great. There’s a reason it has been around so long.

Athena Grill: what do users think?

Sez Gin: I normally wouldn’t post or comment on my experience eating somewhere unless there was a legitimate issue. I ordered my food and after I had done so I read more recent reviews criticizing how the food quality has decreased over the years and how for what your paying it is not worth. Regardless of all of that I figure I’d still give the place a chance since they have kebabs and could be a new local spot I order from consistently. Unfortunately while eating my meal I discovered a long piece of hair. Even if I did not find the hair in my meal, I’d still give this place 2/3 stars if that. Just walking into the restaurant you can tell it doesn’t appear clean and smelled poorly. Also more so it’s a Greek restaurant and coming from a Mediterranean background and eating at other similar type places you can tell the menu doesn’t make much sense since they have items like pork skewers, shrimp, and spinach dip. Long story short there were a bunch of red flags prior to getting my food that I ignored since I’d figure I give them the benefit of doubt. It’s one thing if the chickens dry, the menu doesn’t make sense and the pricing is on the higher end. The fact that their was hair in my meal and the place smelled poorly once you walk is really the disrespectful part and not acceptable at all. I won’t be eating from here ever again. Oh and it was obviously it wasn’t my hair since I have short hair and the hair was found closer at the bottom of my meal so you can imagine my frustration once noticing it.

Kiera Mitchell: Just ordered food from this place. They didn’t even give me all my items I’ve paid for. Plus the food I did get looked like something they serve at a school cafeteria. $60 dollars down the toilet. Not eating there again! Proceed with caution, maybe you will catch them on a better day.

Hanna Ozbeki: chicken pita really hit the sandwich craving - simple and tasty!

Gia: THEY FORGOT MY TOMATOES & CUCUMBERS IN MY DIP TRAY! AND ONLY GAVE ME ONE DOMETHECA. THEY MAKE ME SAD AND STAPLE THE BAG SO YOU THINK ITS ALL NICE CHECK BAG B4 U LEAVE.

GRK Fresh Greek: what do users think?

Scott Nguyen: I really enjoyed the frozen Greek yogurt on a hot day. Additionally, the employees were hard at work processing a large order and were very good at communicating this to all incoming customers. Afterwards, we were taken care of well even though they were working non-stop for 15 minutes so kudos to that. We would revisit again.

Mike Steaks: A bit pricey, but honestly very decent greek food for a fast food feeling restaurant. Not low quality in any way! I definitely would frequent if I lived in the area as there are many options that appealed to me. Love the combo of fresh salad, lamb gyro, and fries!

Nathalie Demirdjian-Rivest: Good food. The most exceptional thing about the experience was the young woman working at the cash register today. An elderly person who was hard of hearing and unfamiliar with the menu took a while to understand it and make his order. The woman taking the order was so patient, helpful, and respectful. She also managed the time delay by staggering order placement/preparation. It was humbling to watch, and I hope she gets recognition for it. Excellent hospitality and management.

Ankita Naithani: Amazing frozen Greek yoghurt, the right amount of tang and subtle sweetness! Best way to beat the heat when around the area and lil pick me up. Their small Greek pita pies are nice appetizer/snack option too!

Gaurav Aggarwal: It was OK. The falafel pita wrap was packaged nicely and the person was super friendly. But the wrap was quite bland and boring. Not like the Falafel Stop in bay area California

Gustavo Colmenares: Meat was dry and salty. Ordered extra side and did not come with sauce and had to pay extra after. Brussels and salad were soggy. Quality has gone down significantly in last year. Everything tasted like it had been sitting for hours and not fresh.

Robert Walden: Great for a quick bite. The house made sauce was awesome, as well as the fries. Beware: the 8.50 gyro turns into almost 16.00 by the time you add fries and a drink, but that seems to be the average price for a meal in this city. The meat was flavorful, fast service during the lunch time rush. Would recommend, and try again.

Cindy Rose: 2020 Feb, Saturday @ 5pm, party of 2. Only one register was open. There were people ahead of us, so we waited about 5 minutes to get our order in. 2 yeero plates (that came with 2 sides each) and 1 drink, we paid $28 (before tip). Place was clean. We sat ourselves after we placed our order. The staff brought the orders of the people who were ahead of us to their table. But for ours, they just called our order number and we had to pick it up from the counter. Then they brought the order of the other couple to their table that ordered after us. Hmmm? If this review helped you in any way, olease give it a thumbs up. Bon appetit!

Iron Gate Restaurant: what do users think?

thomas green: I absolutely loved my experience at Iron Gate last night. This was my first time dining here and I was blown away by the ambiance, service, quality of food and overall amazing location. I would absolutely recommend this as a special or romantic dinner location.

Saeed Mohebbi: Amazing service by John and even better food. The drinks were amazing and the food was absolutely incredible. We went for brunch and we were not disappointed. We can’t wait to come back for dinner. This is a must visit!

Alex Lewis: Went there for a group event. Absolutely amazing food and staff. We had the three course meal and they were hyper conscious about food restrictions and accommodated accordingly. Staff was also super personal and continuously checked on us to make sure everything was taken care of. Also highly recommend their outdoor eating option. It was very warm and beautiful. Cannot wait to come back...

Madelon Christiaanse: Great food. Cute location. The chefs menu is actually a great value for money, you get so much food (come hungry)! We loved everything. We requested veg and they brought out fish twice, so that was a mix up.. they were apologetic.

Bianca: This spot has me gasping for air! Last night a GF and I were on the prowl for evening dinner and stumbled upon this enchanting establishment. After passing this spot up for another restaurant up the block, we decided to come back after being mesmerized by the dessert menu. I ordered the Strawberry-Rose Semifreddo, and my pal ordered the Ode to the Opera. Both were divine, and the staff were charming. We felt like we were in a fairytale, how the team engaged with us and how well the food tasted. I am excited for my reservation later next month!

Zaytinya by José Andrés: what do users think?

Tilak Kalaria: Had an excellent experience at Zaytinya by Jose Andres. The food was very tasteful and unique. The cocktails were delicious and so was the wine. The menu was expansive so our large group decided on a tasting menu and it was awesome. The tasting menu was vast for the price, we got to try a little big of everything and it all tasted great. Service was slow at the beginning but after we got our first round of drinks the attention to detail picked up. I would normally comment on the dishes I really enjoy but I tried so many things it would be hard to choose. Definitely a spot to check out for some Mediterranean cuisine and I highly recommend it.

Maria Rock: Wow! 🎶 Everything was fantastic. I can’t remember the last time I enjoyed such a wonderful meal. We had a reservation for an afternoon lunch. Upon arrival, we were greeted and seated immediately. The wait staff was courteous and efficient. We let our daughter, Julia, order for our table; everything she suggested was delicious and cooked to perfection. The pacing of the dishes was nice as well; a few dishes were brought out at a time. We weren’t rushed and plates were cleared away between courses. We were there just over an hour and even had dessert. I can’t wait to go again. ✨

Julia Cheung: Food is really fresh and the portions are decent. But it’s a crowded and loud restaurant and when we got to the table for four, which we had reserved, I couldn’t even fit into my seat and I’m not overweight. They had to shift the table for me. Then the food just didn’t fit onto the table top. Since it’s small plates, I would expect there to be more space for all the small plates to fit. The vibe and decor is pretty cool, but I just expected a more polished experience for the price. That said, the food is really well flavored and fresh and I would go back if I were looking for a convenient happy hour place or just needed to meet up with someone. But not for a special occasion.

Yuntian Lu: The food was absolutely amazing! We ordered several small plates and my favorite were the seared halloumi and the taramosalata (cured carp roe spread - trust me, you will think this is ice cream if no one tells you this is fish egg in the first place). Although the portion was small, they were not pricey and we were able to try many different options. The server was very friendly and made recommendations for our first visit. I’d definitely come back and recommend this restaurant to anyone interested in cuisines around the Mediterranean region.

Gene Farberov: Great restaurant, always packed, reservation recommended. The food is really good its a mixed Greek, Lebanese and some other country kitchen by a celeb chef. The food was really good, the presentation and the taste is a must try for sure. We got good service and really liked our waiter, he made some recommendations on the cocktails which we enjoyed. I will be back on my next trip to Washington DC.

Djordjiana Buric: Mediterranean restaurant by famous Jose Andres, with authentic music in an open high ceiling beautiful space. Food has special spices and therefore different tastes. Warm tin bread with dipping in olive oil to start. Ship with garlic , octopus is delicious so is the chicken soup not traditional taste but different with lemon and egg. Great to try all these completely different tastes. Service is kind but a bit slow so make sure you are not in a rush. Once ordered food comes quickly.

Lyl Rose: I’m a huge fan of JA and determined to eat at every restaurant he has if possible. This was the third I’ve tried when visiting DC. Definitely did not disappoint! Everything top notch. Nice non alcoholic beverage selection. Fresh ingredients in unique dishes bursting with flavor and richness. Can’t go wrong. Service was great. Decent portions and reasonably priced. Easy to eat too much! One day I’ll save room for dessert.

Genesis Christina: This is my absolute favorite restaurant in Washington DC, my fiance and I were so fortunate to stumble across this place. We tried the tasting menu and it was so amazing that we went back on our last day to try more entrees. The service is unmatched and the servers make some great recommendations. Definitely would recommend this cute spot!

Parthenon Restaurant & Chevy Chase Lounge: what do users think?

Michael A: I was visiting Washington a few weeks ago and ate the Parthenon. We were seated outside on a covered patio on a nice cool evening. For appetizers we the Saganaki Flambe and the Manitaria Gemista (mushroom stuffed with crab). Both were delicious. In addition, we had three shots of Ouzo to celebrate our upcoming Greek main courses. In between the meals one of the owners Mike came over and had a long conversation about the history of the restaurant and the food. There were three of us and for the main course I ordered the Broiled Pork Chops with potatoes and vegetables, my friend ordered the Glosa Gemisti with Crab Meat and vegetables, (stuffed Flounder), our third person had a Greek salad. As you can see by the pictures the portions were generous. The food was delicious, and the service was out of this world. There was the metered street parking, and this restaurant is dog friendly on the outside patio section. So, when in the Chevy Chase area and looking an authentic Greek restaurant for lunch or dinner the Parthenon is the place to go.

Leanne Tobias: The Parthenon is a justly beloved traditional Greek restaurant in DC. Enjoying a meal on the Parthenon’s attractive outdoor patio is a rite of spring and rightly so. Portions are generous and service friendly. Some restaurants never seem to change and the Parthenon is one of them. That’s the point. While I’ve been less enamored of a few of the traditional entrees post-pandemic (I’ve found the baked lamb and moussaka duller than previously, although my companion loved the latter), there is some delicious Greek food to be had here. My latest visit yielded the following excellent preparations: fried squid (light, tender with a crisp exterior), lamb souvlaki (beautifully grilled with a hint of char, also available in chicken or pork) and baklava (not overly sweet, a symphony in flaky philo, walnuts and cinnamon.) The traditional Greek coffee makes a delicious end to a meal (choose your desired level of sweetness: bitter, medium or sweet.) Enjoy!

Victor: I came in and a ordered to go. Lots of people dinning here. I ordered a gyro sandwich with fries and when I opened the box they gave me the platter instead. Not a big deal let’s dig into the gyro meat, the meat was dry but plentiful. But I was upset with the quality because it was busy, no reason to have gyro meat pre cut off the spit. The bread was soggy. The fries were okay. The sauce was terrible like it was sitting for days.

Maxwell Cohen: Elegant classic Greek fare. Lovely dining room, courteous staff.

Raja El Habti: Fantastic place!! Amazing food and great service! Everyone was so nice and attentive. They paid attention to details and made our kids feel welcome. Prices are very reasonable. If you are in the area, give it a try. You will not regret it👍👍👍

M planetmike: The food is consistent quality through the years. Service needs more work. I recognize Saturday nights are busy. However, waiters are the "face" of any restaurant. They should at least introduce themselves and offer suggestions. Our waiter was expedient but he was neither informative or personable. I would prefer the octopus served whole rather than sliced.

Alfa PieHouse: what do users think?

Vy H.: Serves the best Greek food in this area! One of my favorite places for lunch in downtown DC!! Food wise, everything is amazing. I love their Traditional Feta/Spinach Pie, and the Macaroni Pie—both absolutely delicious! Had lunch here today—they offered indoor seating and seating was super spaced out. They served pretty much most of their menu, minus salmon today, but none of the “specials”. Highly recommend this place!

Liddia Morris: Great food and customer service! Although we came here later in the day around 2 o’clock, the food was delicious! The homemade pies are amazing and the soup was original!

Graham Wheeler: I was staying nearby in DC and it took 3 visits to this place in their advertised hours to even find the door unlocked. I was then told they have apple pie and baklava but nothing else; no savory pies at all. Really disappointing after all the good reviews here.

Carmel Byrd: The food was delicious; and the service was outstanding. The navy bean soup was amazing. And my daughter loves her tiramisu.

Dr. Shelly Seidenberg: This is the best Greek food I’ve ever had! The spinach pie and chicken pie were my favorite. Oh and definitely try the baklava! The owners are super sweet and apparently their menu is all authentic Greek recipes.

Ali Dimashkieh: Amazing food and home warm hospitality. The pies are freshly baked with all fresh ingredients and the owner looks fret the preparation and baking to make sure that everything is home perfect. Even the desserts are fantastic.

Mercedes Turkson: Best experience ever!!! Just enjoyed a huge plate of gyro and Greek salad while spending time with my family. Best place ever to eat, awesome taste, huge portions and I don’t know the price because it was so good I just paid for whatever she rung up. I’d go there for dinner but I have so much of my plate left I don’t need to.

Kerry Aubin: Fabulous food, great coffee & lovely people. Was a great find while walking around. Best baklava I’ve had in many years! Even remembered how to say thank in Greek! σας ευχαριστώ 😁

Lovely According to his heavenly name: Hands down delish! Everything is made fresh daily from scratch. I had soup & cheese pie. It danced in your mouth.

Philotimo: what do users think?

Tony Shkurtaj: A two star for the nice decor and effort. . At $162 per person, you’d better get the best food combined with best experience. Unfortunately this wasn’t the case for Philotimo DC. Nicholas Stefanelli, a Michelin-starred chef, tries to present a sophisticated menu “rooted in Greece’s foodways.” The atmosphere is elegant, very well thought of. An open-full-view kitchen staffed with at least 10, and a waiting staff of at least another 12 or 15, you’d expect a perfect (or quasi perfect) treatment. The menu is a five course experience, you choose 3 entrées and the the chef selects the appetizers and the desert. The food and taste is far, very far from “Greek roots.” The service? Let’s put it this way… they serve the soup with no spoon… Again, this seem to be their first week of opening, and for me the quality of food is the most important element, the rest can be fixed. Judging from food quality, this place won’t last… unless they clearly bring out the real Greek flavors.

Boost Others: Totally fantastic experience. The food was top notch and the service was well paced, not rushed. The vibe was very comfortable. Nice place. We’ll be back for another date night!

Samantha Horn: The staff is excellent. The building is beautiful. I let the bartender choose a drink for me based on flavor preferences and he hit it out of the park! Their wine selection is amazing. The 48-hour slow cooked pork melts in your mouth and was hands down the best thing I’ve eaten at a restaurant in ages, and I don’t even eat/like meat that often! Their dessert and drink combo to finish the meal was a perfect compliment to one another. I will be going back!

Andrew Steinberg: Beware and avoid. Service was atrocious: 1. Arrived and there was no host. We waited several minutes in the vestibule to be greeted for our 730 reservation. 2. Waited over 15 minutes after being seated to be welcomed by waiter and asked for drink order 3. After appetizers, we asked for the sommelier to order a bottle of wine and more water. Neither came. 4. We were served the third course without silverware being replaced, and had to wait several minutes after requesting silverware to eat. 5. They ran out of food items - even though this is a prix fixe menu. More broadly, the food missed the mark and was underwhelming. Dinner ran more than three hours. The manager and staff on duty on April 30 seemed very inexperienced for fine dining, overwhelmed, and unable to entertain basic requests. I tried calling the restaurant the day of the reservation and the phone lines were not answered during business hours. I could go on. Incredibly disappointing experience for what was supposed to be a celebration. Despite a beautiful setting, this place will not last unless they make substantial changes. I have dined all over the world and across the city. There are many better options in DC.

Alex Frieder: I was incredibly excited for this restaurant opening - a new upscale greek restaurant of which I feel had been lacking in DC… well that was a nice thought. At $160 per person for the price fix menu, you think I’d leave vaguely satisfied. The food was mediocre at best. First, the options are incredibly limiting for pescatarians. When I made it clear that we did not eat meat, the waitress and waiter trainee looked at me flustered. I mean if you can’t accommodate pescatarians at a greek restaurant, you surely won’t last long. The meal began with some snacks, none of which were satisfactory. The pastry topped with caviar I found particularly unpleasant. The pastas were the best part but mind you they were tiny. The remainder of the dishes were genuinely bad. Aside from that, the service was appalling. I understand needing to train new staff, however, it made for a very unpleasant experience where I did not feel like a patron but rather a fill-in guest to be practiced on. Additionally, at one point, the waitress and trainee frantically placed the dishes down and splattered a portion of the food onto the table. A truly terrible experience, one of which I wouldn’t go back for $50 let alone $160 pp. I do not recommend it here. This experience has made me reluctant to try Masseria. The setting is beautiful, however.

Andrew Myers: I’d sum it up with good not great. Our dinner for 4 was just over $1000, we had a round of cocktails and $200 of wine. So expect to pony up some cash if you want to try it out. It also took 3.5 hours. The menu is a choose your own adventure in which diners can each pick 4 dishes and they provide mezze and dessert. The mezze were a highlight, and the presentation was beautiful but the portions were small. The dinner courses were all good but not as good as the mezze really, portions were still very small. We got the steak which was an additional $80 up charge. It was a highlight, but had we not gotten it, we would have left hungry. Dessert was a course of 3 dollops of whipped cream followed by a chocolate cigar and baklava about 1” square. Service was excellent, and I don’t say that lightly, service at restaurants has been terrible during COVID but they proved that it doesn’t have to be. I wouldn’t say don’t try it, but I’m not going back. My only real complaint is that they brought out $30 in bottled water that we didn’t order. After asking for tap water they brought bottled anyway so I assumed it was included in the prix fixe and then kept bringing it without ever asking again, but it was definitely on the bill.

Bernie Burns: The service and food were absolutely impeccable! The hosts and the servers were very attentive and took excellent care of us! The food, especially the gemista (stuffed onion), gogges (house-made pasta and shrimp with tomato), and the 48-hour roasted suckling pig were outstanding! Looking forward to another visit soon!

Happy Gyro: what do users think?

Matthew Laudone: First time checking this place out and it will definitely be one of my top choices when I am in town. Tried multiple different items and they were all excellent. I love that the Vodka sauce is actually spicy and not a sugar bomb. The staff is super friendly and do not sleep on the ice cream. Even 30 min after I picked it up everything was great.

Archana Raju: We were so excited to try their Black walnut tacos and Grandpa slice. I enjoyed the taco filling, had good flavor, however the pizza slice was much saltier and wasn’t all that great.

Iris Maute-Gibson: Everything that the team at Happy Gyro does is the best of its kind -- their sourdough pizza, ice cream, appetizers. Every time we try something knew, it becomes a favorite.Their whole team is warm and delightful to boot!

Anjali Mittu: The food was delicious and unique. We went during Happy Gyro and loved all the vegetarian food!

Charlotte Misewicz: Just had my first Komi experience and it was hands down the best meal I’ve had in my life. My boyfriend and I are making our way through the DC Michelin Star places and decided to try Komi for a belated Valentines dinner. Komi has been the best thus far with zero competition from the others. There’s just no comparison, and the fact that it was almost half the cost of Pineapple & Pearls made it that much better. I have to comment on how amazing the staff is first. Kyle was attentive, hilarious, and knowledgeable. I didn’t catch the name of the woman helping us but she had short brown hair and was just wonderful. The first 4-5 courses are small but so delightfully balanced and flavorful with simple and fresh ingredients. The figs were to die for and so were the scallops. The pasta we were told is handmade every day and was the best I’ve ever had. Everything was perfectly seasoned and it was timed incredibly well. My partner and I don’t drink but they brought us a non alcoholic drink to try that was just incredible. Everything they brought was better than the last. The desserts at the end were just a perfect finish to the most incredible meal. Can’t wait to go back.

Mary Lu: Amazing dinner experience that offered a lot of familiar flavors, but with an elevated twist. My husband and I split the wine pairing and got to enjoy a nice variety. Although the dishes came out slow, we had a great time and came home with leftovers.

The Athena Pallas Restaurant: what do users think?

波。真秀ᶘ oᴥoᶅ: The Psari Skaras was divine, fresh and cooked well. The Arni Psito was roasted to perfection, tender and succulent. Our server, Markus, was friendly and attentive, and we enjoyed the atmosphere of the restaurant.

LK Murphy: I decided to try this place and was not disappointed. We ordered a few spreads with warm pita bread. Our entrées were the roasted lamb and pork chops. The fresh baked bread was good too. We had rice pudding and baklava for dessert. We look forward to coming back soon. They have very nice outdoor seating and limited parking.

JG AssistU: Wonderful gem of a find. The service, food and atmosphere were so good. I would recommend the walk if you are staying at a hotel anywhere near this little place.

Terry Trent: Very authentic and friendly. Greeted immediately with warm welcome, just like when visiting Greece itself. The food was very good, price was below expectations ($100 for seven to dine). We arrived about an hour before closing, not packed, food came freshly prepared and quickly, stayed to closing with no one pushing for us to leave.

Marquez Kincade: Appetizer was phenomenal. Main dish portion size was good yet lack flavor.Service was great

Diego G: Great spot for traditional greek food and outdoor seating. Fully reccomended tzatziki dip!

Belinda “Lynn” Cook-Smith: Super authentic family run Greek restaurant. I as the bronzing whole and it was crispy outside tender inside. The hummus did not taste homemade but the pita was a standout. The service was friendly. Another plus is they have their own parking lot in the rear. If you are in the mood for Greek or just want to try something different you should be on your way to Athena.

Barbara Robinson-Smith: The food was fantastic! The Greek salad was authentic, and we had grilled shrimp on top. I followed my friends lead and had a grilled chicken that was served with delicious green beans and rice! Definitely worth visiting.

Byblos Deli: what do users think?

Lynn Adams: This place is the best! If you want a REAL GYRO this will satisfy your taste buds. I received a special order from here. GYRO meat with grilled onions & peppers. When I say it was fantastic there is no other reason to anywhere else.

Ismael Alvarado: Byblos is delicious and worth the ride from Maryland into DC. Try their chicken shwarma as it is juicy with authentic sauces. I wish we had the Mediterranean weather here year-round to enjoy this place more often as the outside seating is lovely.

Franklyn Benjamin: We took our last summer intern out for lunch. We all enjoyed the food and felt that the food tasted very good and was homemade. The service was good, the wait for food varied for example the gyros came out quickly while the special took 5-10 minutes longer. One, thing that we were disheartened by was that they only had a 2 pieces of Baklava left while there were 8 people in our party. I will say I enjoyed the piece that I got.

Matt A: This place was bomb! Was driving around Northwest and saw the reviews on Google... Very impressed. The grape leaves were great, the baba was smokey and fresh, and the hummus was excellent and creamy. The gyro was also quite good but I will definitely give the chicken souvlaki a try next time. This place is awesome.

Brittany M: Awesome food - owner is a cool guy. The entire upper nw knows him. Just go, the food is great

Agora DC: what do users think?

Abby Rose: My friend and I are always looking for a unique dining experience and love exploring ethnic cuisine. On a quick trip to DC to see the Cherry Blossoms, we discovered this amazing restaurant. As soon as we entered, there was a subtle, smokey aroma. The ambiance was perfect. Low lighting, an eclectic mix of Indie music, great service- we ate at the bar, gorgeous cocktails and of course the delectable food. We ordered several small plates so we could experience an array of flavors. We stuck with seafood offerings- scallops with caviar, calamari and octopus. We drooled over every morsel. I wish they would open a place in Pittsburgh but for now I have to dream about Agora and can’t wait for my next trip to DC so I can eat there again…Sorry no pic of the scallops- we devoured them before remembering to take a photo!

Rebecca Boulanger: Came here for bottomless brunch and it was INCREDIBLE! For $45 you get bottomless mimosas or bloody Mary’s and bottomless dishes. The staff were super helpful and brought us out one of each dish for the table without us having to ask and the service was prompt - there wasn’t a dip that we didn’t like and the French toast was also delicious! There was never a moment our glasses stayed empty - honestly this place was a steal! Definitely would come back!

Alexia Moran: Amazing amazing food and drinks! The General manager was amazing, she made sure we were having a good time, super friendly. The waiter Lucio was super attentive and gave us delicious recommendations! It was my graduation celebration, and he made sure we were enjoying our meal and brought me a red velvet cake 🎉🎉🎉. Kudos to Lucio!!! 10 out of 10 . Highly recommended. I can’t wait to go back and have the lamb chops, so juicy and tender (and many more drinks)!!

Paolo Verzani: Truly an exceptional restaurant. The perfect balance of hospitality and service. This place is obviously a local favorite—you can tell by how busy it was! It attracts such a great crowd of folk, people who already love Mediterranean food and also those who don’t. The meals are not massive but they are very filling. If you’re a big eater like me do not be worried, you’ll feel full!

Dennisse Carrasquillo: This restaurant is amazing!I have never had this type of food and let me tell you everything that our group had, was great!Lamb chops,Siz Kabobs,Octopus, pita bread, spread sampler!the cheese which they flambe amazing!I dnt even know how to stop complementing this restaurant 🤩.Highly recommend it !

Mark Konings: We spent 6 days in DC for our daughter’s GWU graduation and ate at 6 different restaurants for dinner. The bill each night was pretty similar except for one much higher. Of the six, Agora was my favorite (and it wasn’t the most expensive).

Jorge17C: My experience here was really good, I tried the brunch and basically you can try everything, appetizers, deserts, entrees and deserts. Bottomless mimosas or blody Mary is included in the price ($42 per person) the Greek yogurt parfait and the salmon egg Benedicts were my favorites, is a busy place so you have to make a reservation if you go on the weekends

Emma Rose Wooten: Looooved my birthday experience at Agora. We started with the “sampler” which came with all of their dips and warm pita. That bread was to die for, clearly house-made and a perfect, chewy canvas for the delicious dips. For my main course I had the Adana kebap – once again, fantastic. Everyone at the table ordered a different thing and all loved it. Then for dessert I got the birthday red velvet cake (on the house). The frosting was not sweet, which I actually really liked since it didn’t make us feel sick from all the sugar. The best dessert, though, was that rice pudding!!! Amazing!

GRK Fresh Greek - H St NW Washington DC: what do users think?

Cory Jorgensen: The food quality is excellent and the dishes are delicious. However, several other factors cause me to give this restaurant 2 stars: they are seriously overpriced, even compared to other, similar D.C. lunch spots, and more important, they always seem to cheat you on the Greek salad. Very little feta, few olives, and not very many cucumbers. Mainly tomatoes and bell peppers. Even ordering extra feta does not get you very much.

Doug Povie: overpriced. tiny sandwich for $9! no side. "gyro" meat in tiny shreds instead of slices. not terribly flavorful. only saving grace is the delicious draft fountain soda. great root beer and cream soda.

Mohamed “Moe” Elyaouti: The Greek yogurt is pretty good. And surprising not pricey 6 for a med!. The food is not bad at all!

Abdulrahman Alhizami: The food is very tasty at this place, but the prices are higher than average. The portions are good.

Tameka: Food is ok, mediocre! The slaw seem like it has been sitting around for months, has a very “stale” taste.

Lucius Domitius Aurelianus (Augustus): Small portions, big prices, medium quality. Objectively inferior to its competitors only 10ft to either side

Mazi DC - New American Cuisine: what do users think?

Hilda Kroll: A really nice place for lunch. The service was great and my friend and I really enjoyed our food. My lamb burger was large, juicy, and delicious and my friend enjoyed her Mediterranean salad. Nice and clean, tables not too close together, so we felt very comfortable dining in. And beautiful fresh flowers at every table.

K Scott: Cute place and I enjoyed the food, went here last night for New Year’s Eve with my daughter and her dad. We enjoyed our selves staff were really nice. Lamb chops were really really great. My little sister told me come here after going for her birthday a few months ago.

Emily C.: This restaurant just cross street from the hotel where we stay, so convenient. The waitress and waiter were friendly, Loved the food, cooked just right, perfect taste.

Keshia Wideman: First time experiencing the Mazzi. I must say the food chicken kabob, and honey feta cheese was superb, but yes but, the waiter was not welcoming, or really pleasant at all. The owner/ manager I believe was very pleasant, and explanatory of our concerns. We celebrated my daughter’s 18th birthday here tonight. Definitely a nice ambience, just in my opinion the waiters could be more pleasant to casual guest of mixed aged people.

Anna: Ok but a bit underwhelming. We started with brussels, good but heavy, and mushrooms, which would be better with something. Bowl of mashrooms was a bit weird. Then we moved to cesar salad with chicken and a NY strip. Nothing to complain about, but just very regular food.

Marina Figueroa: Love the ambiance. Food was delicious as well as the wine. Service was also exceptional.

Andrea Smith: They accommodated our group of 45 well. We super appreciate the deliciousness of the food, attentiveness, and great service. A group that size is hard but they delivered consistent and delicious meals to all.

David Manalan: We were staying nearby, and stopped in at lunchtime to get out of the heat and relax with food and beverage. The hamburgers we ordered were outstanding. The staff was very friendly and attentive. We were intrigued by the menu so we returned for dinner- outdoors. Chicken Kabobs and the Wine Roasted half chicken were absolutely wonderful. We returned for a number of additional meals, and the wait staff and owner not only recognized us, they welcomed us as though we were old friends. A definite 5 star place.

Nostos Restaurant: what do users think?

Novi Beerens: Went to Nostos recently after seeing reviews and found it on the best restaurant list. The dinner was awesome. We had a great time. We had swordfish, octopus and for entree we shared rockfish and mini kebab. Definitely worth to try especially when you are already shopping at Tyson Corner :).

Dessie Hristov: Attentive service, great lunch/dinner spot! Octopus and the crispy zucchini were so good! The dessert I picked was also delish - all of them actually were! It is a bit on the steep side but it is worth it for the quality of food. Reservation is recommended because it fills up quickly!

Abbi “Abbs” D.: A little tucked away spot but a clean and resembling architecture similar to Greece. A beautiful ambiance and simple decorations that still give life to restaurant. The food? Superb! The appetizers were subtle flavors that were addicting and the skewers left us wanting more. The lamb was immaculate! Fell right off the bone and just enough sauce for the orzo as well. The service was a bit slow that night I was there, it was quite busy but the staff was friendly. I would have preferred some cocktail recommendations but the wine was still lovely with the meal. Im drfoheading back, those Greek beans are too good!!

luci wang: Great food, smaller portion than other places but perfect size for 1 person to finish. Seabass was unbelievably soft

Vy H.: Great restaurant for dinner! Came here Friday evening and the food was just as good as I remembered years ago when I first tried Nostos. Top favorites were the Kotopoulo Souvlaki (chicken skewers), Fileto Souvlaki (filet mignon skewers) and the Pastitsio (layers of pasta with beef)—all wonderful, well flavored and delicious! The Saganaki, a cheese flamed dish was interesting, they light the fire onto the cheese in front of you—unfortunately it tasted too salty. For dessert, we were a bit disappointed in the Portokalopita (orange flavored cake), partly our fault for not realizing what type of cake it was—the cake was drenched in a sugar glaze so the cake was extremely moist/wet. Will have to try their other desserts next time. The food took a while to come out, and our server was not the friendliest or attentive either.

Phil Cooke: Our favorite restaurant in Tysons. Authentic Greek food and wines; food is outstanding, with both traditional dishes prepared perfectly and specials, often fresh fish, prepared well. Service is always excellent. We are greeted warmly. We prefer sitting at high-top tables in the bar, but the dining room is also nice. The only negative that I can mention is parking...small spaces and not easy to maneuver. Even though it is in an office building, the food and service more than make up for it.

Taverna Cretekou: what do users think?

Corinne Coutinho: A very pretty restaurant, with a lovely patio garden. Service was superb. We celebrated my birthday with a lunch. We had grilled octopus, taramasalata, and saganaki for appetizers followed by grilled lamb chops, salmon and avocado stuffed with crabmeat. We enjoyed each dish very much. We shared one dessert (enough for the 3 of us) as we were stuffed after our meal. Dessert was alright...I would try something else next time. We had Galaktoboureko.

J Masnec: Great meal in Alexandria just out of D.C. - greek food that reminded me of home even though i am not from greece. Home cooked, not to expensive, charming place and staff

Susan B: We had a lovely dinner here last night. 2/25. The restaurant is so beautifully decorated and the service was top notch. The hostess is so nice and welcoming. The food was fantastic. We had the shrimp and feta appetizer to start which was amazing. We do would revisit on our return trip to Old Town Alexandria.

PlayList93033: I had dinner there with my mom. The food tastes homemade. Our waiter was a young man name Pablo who is very kind, courteous and attentive. He told us about the history of the restaurant. He also took time with our menu when we asked recommendations. The restaurant is very quaint and I love the atmosphere. Thank you Pablo for making us feel at home.

MOODY MOODY (Moo moo): Aside from me doing curbside I had to pick up my food myself and venture inside the restaurant. Found a great parking space right in front of the restaurant though. They are a little pricey. $47 for a regular Greek salad & braised lamb. The food was pretty great though. What delivered it the down to 3 stars was the hostess. She knew who I was when I walked through the door. Even said my name when greeting me. But never made sure I had eating utensils, salt & pepper. Make it make sense to me how I was about to eat this & $47 dollar meal? What wit my hands? Smmfh. Oh and it didn’t seem to me like the people were social distancing while seated at their tables either.
