James Hozik: I highly recommend Bromwell's. They have a great showroom and their sales people are very knowledgeable. We ordered our gas fireplace and had it installed within a week. Kevin, the installer, did a great job of explaining how to operate and maintain our new log set.

Susie De Soto: We initially contacted this company back in September of 2021. We paid the $100 deposit had measurements taken and explained that the new fireplace installation was connected to an difficult insurance claim. We received the estimate in November and communicated that the insurance claim was still being processed. I asked Floyd for the dimensions of the new fireplace, which he promptly sent. In late February/early March, I emailed and called Floyd multiple times to say the insurance settlement went through and we could proceed with the fireplace installation. I never heard back. The lady who answered my calls said she gave Floyd the message. I was completely ghosted. Needless to say I was/am extremely disappointed, angry and confused as to why this happened. My last call to Floyd was to demand my deposit back since they failed to do anything deserve it. It took a bit for me to calm down enough to write this review. I can’t recommend this company to anyone

David Mayger: My gas fireplace was acting up--the pilot light would come on but the flame wouldn't stay on when I turned the valve for full flame. Floyd instantly understood the problem and fixed it quickly. Additionally, he cleaned up the fire box, painted it, and cleaned up after his work. Not a speck of dirt left. Recommend him without question. And, btw, fee was reasonable.

A little pricey but the salesman was willing to give some discounts. We went mid summer. So if you are willing to spend for quality or either catch them on a good sale you will find some great finds.

Phillip David: Tri County Hearth and Patio has the worse customer service ever and they do not honor their contract. I made a purchase that turned out to be defective and when I tried to exchange the furniture they first said yes but after over ten calls to the owner of the of the business, Rona, they refuse to honor their contract. The product was under warranty so the contract should be honored. I would not recommend them to anyone. I will be contracting the Better Business Bureau (BBB) and report this company. I would not recommend them at all. Do not let them scammed you like they scammed my family.

Joe Cook: The service guys were great, however, the sales and service supervisor were not. They have given me three different prices on my final install. Service tech said one price in which I signed, but store is trying to charge me over $300 more. Stay away, pay extra for some other installer to travel. More to come.

Kimberly Frazier: My experience with Aspen was mostly positive however please know that after you pay them don't expect any promises to be fulfilled. It's mid-May and I'm still waiting on my fireplace inspection to happen for an install in February. I have asked about this multiple times over email and phone to no avail. Only empty promises. I hate to post a negative review but it's important for people to know how this company operates. Uodate: I finally got my logs and Ian really went above and beyond to educate me on features of my logs and insert. Although it took a while we finally are squared away.

Meghan McCabe: This is a family-owned and operated business and they literally feel like family. The mother is the sales lady; the dad and son are both gas contractors. I was referred to them by someone in my neighborhood after I visited 2 of their competitors (both in Falls Church and very well known/well-advertised). One of the competitors tried to sell me gas logs for $4500 (ridiculous). The other never contacted me after I had a few questions. I got beautiful birch logs that I love - installed quickly and with much discussion of how the system works. Since then, I had a minor issue with my remote (user error!) and Ian (son) came out to assist. He has a youthful appearance; however, he knows his stuff and is probably in the top 3 of professional contractors I've had at my house (there have been many - I update!). Took the time (like his parents) to explain issues and didn't even want to take payment! I respect that he has obviously learned the trade so well from his family. It is admirable. I support local, family-owned businesses - especially now during this crisis. I highly recommend Aspen Green Gasworks.

Douglass Biesel: Aspen Green Gasworks clearly earned this superb five-star rating. For the Regency gas fireplace insert that I purchased, they provided me with a detailed itemized estimate for both the equipment and installation. They then coordinated the entire installation, which included pulling the gas line, flue venting, and electrical permits. The entire installation was completed in one day. Next they coordinated the Fairfax county inspections on my behalf. The owner of the installation company was personally present for both the installation and the final county inspection. The Regency gas fireplace insert is top of the line and looks like a real fire with glowing coals...simply outstanding. As a result, I highly recommend Aspen Green Gasworks as the one-stop shop for purchase and installation of gas fireplaces. UPDATE: It has now been several years since installation and the fireplace is working wonderfully. In the fall, I can't wait to startup the fire. Many of our friends and neighbors have remarked how realistic it looks, because of the glowing coals. I will continue to highly recommend Aspen Green Gasworks and their line of Regency gas fireplaces.

Marianne Wandishin: I moved to Reston recently and did a complete home remodel including a gas fireplace conversion and stone work. The work was done to code with no flaws. All their contractors are licensed. Timing was as promised. New gas fireplace looks beautiful and works excellently! The stone was completed around the fireplace and up to the ceiling. I really was expecting some flaws, but as picky as I am I have no complaints. It's perfect! I loved working with this family owned business. The price was less than most competitors and the customer service was very personable. Maria the owner has a great knowledge of fireplaces and was very helpful with the design and type of fireplace we needed. If your thinking about converting to gas or giving your fireplace a new look, I highly recommend this company. Stop by their show room and speak with the owner. You won't be disappointed:)

Barbara Smith: I purchased my insert in November 2020. I am still awaiting a custom backer plate to be installed and for the unit to be inspected. We have a the gas line hooked up for months on our uninspected unit. Don't make the same mistake I did. Go elsewhere. I am most disappointed in Aspen. My fireplace looks very bad... with about 8 inches of dead space above the unit. We have paid for a custom piece to be made and although I have asked (after installation while waiting for it) about the shape and size I have not heard back from them. I discovered by looking at the manufacturers website that we could have raised the base of the unit to center it in the space ... and by getting an accessory in addition to the custom piece it would be balanced in the opening. Right now I think it will look very unbalanced. I would have expected them to understand this design option and have at least mentioned it to me. I don’t know how long I will need to wait to see the custom piece that I paid for and that given the placement of the unit will look terrible. It’ll be warm but ugly. I strongly suggest that you go with someone else who might offer better design advice. (There were long delays in getting my insert due to manufacturing delays because of COVID. However there were several more delays due to problems with scheduling errors)

J Ben: Dan and his crew did an awesome job installing our new gas fireplace. The job was scheduled just before the holidays and sure enough we had a wonderful new fireplace to enjoy on Christmas. We also had them replace an electrical line for our new downdraft range. They were always on time, courteous, left the work area cleaned and finished the work in short order. We highly recommend them and would gladly have them do more work for use when we need it.

Kristine H.: 10/10 Would recommend Nova Fireplace and Stove! I wanted to replace our 25 year old wood burning fireplace with a linear gas one, and to make a feature wall around it flanked by cabinets and floating shelves. I met with four different contractors to get estimates. Most were comparable in cost, some recommended certain fireplaces and stone that I needed to purchase for them to install, some seemed to know more than others. I mentally decided on a contractor and began my search for the gas fireplace I wanted which led me to Nova Fireplace & Stove. I spoke with Dan and explained what I needed and what my plan was. He gave me recommendations, answered all of my questions in so much detail, and provided additional information for me to consider. He also mentioned that he could do the construction and provide the ledgestone I wanted, as he is an authorized dealer of the brand I had been looking at. Even though I had another contractor in mind for the job, I didn't think it would hurt to have one more person come out to bid. Dan arrived on time to measure and get the scope of the project. He knew SO MUCH and brought attention to many things the other contractors failed to mention or even consider. From Dan, we learned of different venting options best suited for our needs, and units with Cool Touch Wall Technology - eliminating the need for a mantle (which I didn't want but was told I had to have) - to protect the TV hanging above. My husband and I decided then and there that Dan was definitely the man for the job; he was by far the most experienced and qualified. Dan took care of permits, scheduling inspections, and checked in with us often to keep us up to speed and in the loop. Dan is clearly a sought after and busy man, but he worked his schedule around the other contractors involved (electric, A/V, painter, cabinet maker). Once the project was underway, Dan was unbelievably proficient and detail-oriented. The old fireplace and surrounding brick was removed, new pipes and vents were placed, and the framing and cement board for the 60" Regency gas fireplace was installed. Dan's measurements to my specifications were SPOT ON, perfectly level, and he did not cut any corners in the building of the frame for stability. That thing was SOLID! Dan instructed his apprentices during the course of the project and he expects nothing less than perfection. Several times I overheard him telling his guys to be mindful of this or that, and to do things a certain way so as not to waste any materials (even though there was plenty extra). Everyone was so professional, pleasant, and respectful of our home. Dan and his crew were always on time, great at keeping the project moving, cleaning up as they went, and they ran like a well oiled dream team machine! The next task was hanging the provided shelves, and installing the cabinets - cutting and fitting them for the various access panels. I'll spare the details, but Dan went WELL ABOVE AND BEYOND for us here! The final phase was stacking the stone and providing instruction on how to use our gorgeous new fireplace. Dan completed our renovation as an utmost professional and a total champ - battling unforeseeable COVID setbacks, physically working in the snow, and even welcoming his new baby! He is an absolute expert at all things fireplaces, and is a pro at SO many things beyond his specialty. He even pointed out some potential issues/hazards he came across in our home that had nothing to do with the project, and told us how to easily rectify them with no benefit to him. If I could hire Dan and his crew to do all future projects in our home, I would; I don't think I could find anyone else who works with such precision and ethic. This room has been transformed exactly as I had envisioned. We spend so much more time here now, toasty warm, in awe, and absolutely confident that we really did find the best man for the job.

Pia Dozo: Dan and his team were absolutely phenomenal from start to finish. They take work ethic and dedication to a whole new level. We called a handful of places around NoVA and no one was able to compete with his prices or even do the job from start to finish, which is invaluable in itself given COVID and not wanting a bunch of contractors in your home for one job. Dan was very honest and transparent with everything and his attention to detail was impeccable. The team was extremely respectful, hard working and fun to be around. It’s rare to find service of with such honesty and professionalism. We are insanely happy and proud with the end product which was no easy task given the slant of the ceiling and unevenness of the flooring. We are extremely happy and absolutely recommend him and his team!

Ron Schreibman: The technician was very competent and had the fireplace working in a short time. It is an old model and he patiently showed me how to ignite the gas fireplace. Even though it is working I will likely replace with a newer model and a remote. Nicholas Chimney gave me some suggestions and an estimate. I highly recommend this company. Nicholas Chimney (John in particular) serviced both our fireplaces about 8 years ago...one was acting up so we requested a service call. As before, John showed up a few minutes before our scheduled appointment time (he called to ask if we were available). He did a great job with the repair...it works like a champ. Unsure about the negative reviews about this company -- John is professional, knowledgeable, and has an amazing southern demeanor -- a real gentlemen. Not sure about the other technicians, but John is one of the best service reps I've known across all fields -- automotive, construction, HVAC, etc. -- he gets it done as is super friendly.

John Colwell: Nicholas Chimney installed a stove in my fireplace nine years ago. They provide an annual maintenance service that keeps the system in good working order. The accumulated soot is removed from the chimney preventing a fire that could be dangerous. The staff is very professional and far superior to other services I have used in the past. You cannot do any better than Nicholas Chimney.

Dan Roush: Completely unresponsive. Talked to the owner and immediately sent he information he requested (measurements and pictures). Waited two weeks, no response, called back several times and left messages over the next two weeks, still no response. The lady that answered told me, "unfortunately, you're doing this at our busiest time". Don't waste your time calling them.

Daniel Cluchey: My wife and I had an excellent experience with the team led by Juan Montano. We needed to get our boiler and hot water heater flue re-lined and extend our chimney a few feet higher to bring it up to code — Juan and Edwin got the job done quickly, safely, and with the highest quality. We especially appreciated how communicative Juan was; he explained every aspect of the project before doing the work, flagged potential challenges ahead of time, and checked in with us regularly to make sure we were happy with how things were progressing. Beyond their professionalism and skill, Juan and Edwin were also friendly and respectful of the house — wearing masks while working inside, carefully touching up paint where the scaffolding had been on the outer wall, and doing a spotless clean-up job after the work was done. Jacob Hyman: Overall I’m happy with the experience I’ve had with Bethesda Chimney and would use them for future projects. Brian and Nicole did a good job working with us and answering a lot of questions to determine what work we wanted to get done. While they did offer some options we didn’t wind up going with, I never felt pressured to do work we didn’t want. They have also made it easy to coordinate with the plumber and electrician needed to do work. For the work we’ve had done by Bethesda Chimeny so far, Rogel and his team (William and Uriel I believe) have been great and highly professional. They spent time explaining exactly what they were going to do, answering any questions I had, and keeping me informed as anything came up. They’re not the cheapest option, but I feel they are fairly priced for the level of service and work provided. Solenne Abaziou: We used Bethesda Chimney for major work on our chimney and fireplace, including replacement of our flue, masonry, and installation of a vented gas log set. The service was impeccable from start to finish. Rogel and his team were professional, and left the place as clean as when they arrived, despite having to make holes in our wall to access debris they needed to clear out. When rain was forecasted, they stopped by 3 hours before they were due on the job site to make sure our things were covered in plastic and protected from the rain. After the work was done, we noticed hairline cracks in the bricks of our fireplace due to the vibration created by the work. Zach came out that day to examine the damage, and they sent a mason over the following day to make the repairs. Anytime we called with questions, Nicole, Ross or Ryan got back to us promptly, and patiently answered all of our questions. Overall, the company was very flexible with timing, and accommodated schedule changes as needed due to plumbing issues that arose to get our gas going. Nathalie Lenoble: I am switching to Bethesda Chimney's services without hesitation to care for my fireplace. I will also try them for other services such as power washing and dryer vent cleaning. This time, which is the first time I use them, they replaced my old fireplace by a new one. They also did a very thorough inspection of the chase which made me realize that it was about time to replace the whole system (not only the fireplace). They also installed a brand new B-vent. I was impressed by their service and professionalism. They are very knowledgeable and they are quick. I think that what impressed me the most was to get a very detailed estimate only three hours after their first visit. I have also compared their prices with a couple of other companies I used in the past, and for the quality of their service, their price was reasonable to me (and I am a demanding customer!) Denise Lecour: I had to get my vent flut connector up to code prior to getting our water heater installed. I called on Friday evening and spoke with Christine and the next day we had the work completed. Christine was professional, honest and down to earth. She answered questions from me and my husband and was patient. She kept me assured and confident. She had a master Mason on deck. Due to covid the two gentlemen wore their mask and were very professional and pleasant. They also cleaned their work up if it was messy. I would recommend them. Melissa Bagherian: Used another company to extend had it "brought up to code" or so we thought. Called Priddy Chimney to clean and inspect it and they found multiple things the other company missed including one that was a major safety issue (every fire would smoke our entire basement). Spoke to Christina and made a plan to address everything, they came in and didn't leave the job until it was 100% perfect. Now we can enjoy our fireplace again without worries thanks to Priddy Chimney Sweeps, I will use this company for every fireplace going forward! I can't recommend them enough; the work was done in a timely manner, jobsite kept clean, communication was amazing between Christina and I and every worker was polite and thorough. Do yourself a favor and hire them first, you won't regret it.

Shan C: This review involves two vendors Mayes Plumbing and Priddy. Mayes plumbing was assigned to replace the hot water heater at my rental property. When the plumber came out they informed me that I would need to have a chimney company come out to confirm that the chimney was up to code. I had never experienced something like this before, but they alleged that there were some new building code requirements and before replacing the heater they would have to get a confirmation that everything was good with the chimney. Conveniently they suggested that I contact Priddy Chimney Sweeps and provide a discount code for them to take a look at the chimney. I thought this whole thing was strange since I’ve had water heaters replaced at other properties without the involvement of chimney companies, but I didn’t have time to confirm whether their allegation that this was a new code requirement was true. I contact Priddy and they inform me that I should send them pictures so they can diagnose whether the chimney is up to code. This seemed unusual since most chimney companies I have worked with in the past physically come to the property. They don’t attempt to diagnose a problem via photos. However, I had the tenant take a ton of pictures that I forwarded via text to Priddy over the course of two days. Once they received the desired photo angle I was informed that all of this work would need to be done to the tune of $2200 (with the discount code) before Mayes could install the heater. Keep in mind the tenant has been without hot water for at least a week. At this point I did what I should have done in the first place and called a chimney company I have used in the past. They went to the property (they didn’t diagnose via photos) and for $195 confirmed that the chimney was up to code and properly lined. Subsequently I called my home warranty company to report this and ask that another plumber be assigned. The hot water heater was replaced the next day by another company without incident. Imagine if I had gone with Priddy’s faulty diagnosis, I would be out $2200!!!! I would proceed with extreme caution when dealing with Priddy and Mayes. Something is not right here.

The team was quick, professional, and cleaned up after themselves (unlike some contractors). Quick and easy job for them. Great price for me. I would certainly hire them again!

Kelly Byrd: In March 2017 we had Priddy Clean come out to inspect our old fireplace. We were on the verge of inadvertently burning our house down, our pre-fab fireplace was really that bad. Christina was wonderful, she walked us through every step from start to finish.. She had wonderful suggestions for the rock and mantle and even recommended where to get the materials. The installers got everything done without a hitch and it went from drab to breathtaking in only a couple of days. The attention to detail is impeccable. Richard Brundage: I replaced my water heater and that meant I had to get a liner installed in the furnace flue. I decided to get the adjacent fireplace chimney lined at the same time. It took three days to install a new exhaust duct for the furnace and hot water heater, removed the terracotta liner on the fireplace, and install the stainless steel liners and insulate the fireplace flue. They did a good job keeping the dust under control and cleaning up and the installation looks good. I did have to call them back to fix the damper cable because the rebuilding of the chimney top moved the damper up about 4 inches and the cable no longer reached the bracket that holds the damper closed. I called them and they understood the issue immediately and sent two workers out the next day to fix it. They cut off the old cable and tied a new one on so it was long enough to use the bracket, but they did not adjust it properly so the damper was not fully closed when the cable was hooked to the bracket, and they left some of the frayed cable sticking out of the slug that connects the cable to the chain and handle. It was easy to use an allen wrench to adjust the location of the slug so the damper is fully closed and I used a propane torch to cut off the frayed cable end. This extra work is why I gave them 4 stars. I would use them again. Service: Chimney repair & restoration

While we all thought it would be a straight forward replacement, it turned into a much more complicated project due to the poor engineering of the condo building. Manuel and his men effectively and efficiently worked through the structural issues and ultimately were able to perform the full flue replacement. They worked diligently while also keeping me informed of the process, along with anything they needed on my end. Stephan, the operations manager also kept me informed of the overall process and timeline, especially when it went beyond the original scope of the job. He was on time and very thorough. He provided an honest assessment of what needed to be repaired and provided an estimate during our appointment. He told me he was conservative on the estimate, but wanted to overestimate given a few variables with my request. He didn't want any surprises. He was exceptionally responsive between his inspection appointment, and when Fernando and Ledvia came to complete the work. The same theme held true with Fernando and Ledvia! They were slotted to arrive between 9 AM and 10 AM on a Monday, and at 8:58 AM they pulled up to my house. They were kind, patient with my questions, VERY clean, and knowledgeable about the work they're doing. Fernando has been with American Professional for 16 years! He was truly a skilled professional. After two days of hard work, Fernando, Ledvia, and Jonathan (who helped on day two) were done! They gave us a full walk-through of what they completed, and explained all of their repairs. Even better, they came in UNDER the initial estimate. Almost 40% under! Fernando and Ledvia were so thorough, they were able to salvage and repair (versus replace) what Mike had built a buffer for. Cara W: Rooftop Chimney Sweeps gets ALL the Stars!! We bought a house in September 2021 and waived the home inspection (I know, I know!!). Upon moving in we realized the chimney was bad off. We obtained quotes from 4 other area chimney sweeps and every single one of them insisted that the chimney would have to be relined at a cost of about $5,000+ and that no way, no how could it just be cleaned and be safe to use. Well, SO GLAD I called Rooftop and had them come out. Their technician and project manager offered to do a thorough sweep and if there was extensive damage and a reline was necessary, they would credit the cost of the sweep to the reline. Well, they just came and swept the chimney and said the chimney is FINE! No need for a reline!!! They literally saved us thousands of dollars! They are polite, professional, and best of all HONEST! richard kurtz: Not responsive to customer need. Used scare tactics to "up-sell" a simple repair job. The roof top gas heater flue system had a rusted out cover plate with a hole which allowed rain water to enter the flue pipe, and drip around its outside. I asked for a replacement rain cover. The technician took multiple photos of the entire heating system, basement to roof. He did not show any of these to me, but sent same to his "Project Manager (PM)" Based on this conversation, the PM determined I needed a complete safety inspection, replacement of the entire flue, from roof to basement level, and it would be unsafe for them to even place a temporary rain cap on the flue until they had investigated the right type rain cap to order/use, and insure system safety. The technician left without doing anything to solve the problem. We have carbon monoxide alarms in the utility room and the room adjacent, and they both read zero. Nonetheless, I had our HVAC company come out and safety check the flue system. They found no safety issues! What appeared to be rust around some of the fittings was in fact rust colored water stains, probably from the rusting flue rain cap. The stains came off with brushing/steel wool, and the metal fittings were totally intact. Then I called a roofer, who fabricated a metal rain cap and installed same. Said it took him 15 minutes to make the rain cap. Service: Rain cap installation
