Ghion Ethiopian Restaurant: what do users think?

Kelvin Doe: Went here and the waitress was absolutely accommodating. She basically treated us like family, and when we told her it was our first time eating Ethiopian, she gave us perfect recommendations! The food took some time but nothing unreasonable, especially considering the high quality of the dishes. The service and food quality leave nothing to be desired.
Response: Thanks again appreciate you business

Alex Wilke: Ghion is warm and welcoming, and the staff is extremely kind and helpful. Even better, the food was also incredible. Our party of 10 split a few meat and vegetable combos and it was a great amount of food, packed with flavour, and easily shared. Surprisingly I especially liked the collard greens. I'll definitely be back.
Response: Thanks again

Shameer Zahid: The food was delicious! I’ve walked by the restaurant a few times and decided to give it a try, was not disappointed. All the food we tried was delivious and the injera was awesome! The portion size is pretty big too and their big plates can definitely be split between 2 people (maybe even 3).
Response: Thank you for coming to us

Crime Mia River: The worst Ethiopian I've ever had. Came here after work because it was few options. Ordered lamb tibs because that's all they had. No flavor! : (. Won't come back! The people were friendly tho but food? Not food
Response: Sorry how you feel but I kown we have the best lamb tibs ever we’re ever you I kown thousand percent but. Anyway tried again let me kown thanks

rowan mentzer: My friend and I went to eat here before going to a show at the 9:30 Club, and I am so glad we did! The food was delicious, and the staff were all super nice and helpful. This food was honestly the highlight of our trip!!
Response: Thanks again appreciate you

Mandi Carr: Absolutely delicious! Great service and delicious, colorful food. Ordered the veggie platter and it was more than enough for two people. Highly recommend.
Response: Thanks a lot

Dagmawi Workineh Yemesgen: Food was good but the service was not great. Took an hour for a very simple order. I had to go to the front desk many times, which is alright for me but I can't imagine everyone is willing to wait that long. Also, it's on the pricey side.
Response: Sorry what happened sorry we fixed it up Time thanks again for appreciate you business

Lara Stunkel: The food was just absolutely amazing!! Our family shared a meat and veggie combo, with fish stew and shiro (chickpeas), and we stuffed ourselves and still had food to take home.
Response: Thanks again appreciate you

John Jagos: Hole in the wall but food is absolutely wonderful. Our server was a sweetheart. I highly recommend this place.
Response: Thanks again web appreciate you ❤️

Hannah Brown: Fantastic little hole-in-the- wall place with great food. My boyfriend and I went on a lunch date here, and had the entire place to ourselves. The waitress was friendly, and let us take our time looking at the menu, and after we finished eating. Our food came quickly, and was delicious. The portions were large, and the prices were relatively competitive for the D.C. area. It was the perfect place to satisfy my craving for good Ethiopian food!
Response: Thank you so much

Glo Lalibela Ethiopian Restaurant: what do users think?

Lamont Mckinnon: This seems to be a local Ethiopian eatery where a lot of Ethiopians come to socialize. It was amazing sitting and watching them interact with each other as the come and go like family. I basically had a Vegetarian meal with injera and a samosa. The food was well seasoned and great as it should be cooked by Ethiopians. My server was very nice and attentive. I would definitely go back!!!

Michael “Newmie” Newman: Great little hidden-gem on 7th St NW serving delish Ethiopian fare! The owner, Taye, runs an immaculate restaurant that used to be in Arlington. I do vegetarian after my gym workouts, and GLO never fails with a delightful to-go box including traditional bread (and plastic-ware/napkins). One one sit-down occasion, i brought my Nigerian brother in law visiting from Dallas, and he loved the African authenticity! Lentils, potatoes, and other veggies so very flavorful and in large proportions for good value. The waitresses are stunningly-sweet ladies, friendly with a smile, and will assist you patiently with making the ordering simple. Large screen TVs show various sports and entertainment from around the world. The dining room is a bit under lit, so best to choose the table by the window overlooking the busting sidewalk. *Highly recommended for trying your first experience with East African cuisine!*

Joe Whiteman: Great lamb, great injera, great flavor, great service, and great prices. There's not much else you can say about this lowkey Ethiopian joint, it's just great. Don't come here if you are against being treated with warmth and kindness, or you don't like quick service, or if you don't want your belly to be full with a delicious and filling meal.

Semmy Lakew: I order food from here because of the reviews my very first time and last time, I order pasta with vegetable they ridiculous messed up the whole order, 1, they give my order to wrong guy 2, they told me they can’t do anything about it someone already picked up the order with disappointed altitude 3 once they agree to remake my food and give it to the correct guy they send me fish with vegetables, which i have fish allergy I can’t even touch fish whatsoever how could one restaurant failed to do 1 thing correctly, you guys needs to pay attention to your work quality than the money cause I’ll never order from your restaurants so people I know. get it together.

Thomas Anderson: In the heart of Shaw/Logan circle northwest D.C. stands a lively restaurant and lounge with so much tradition and a ambiance that makes you feel you stepped into Addis Ababa. The scent of frankenscence makes the room come alive and the environment itself is just full of love. Allow me to get to get started with the food. I ordered a combination plate for 1 just for starts. At $16 dollars, frankly... It is worth every penny. The Injera is fluffy and the vegetables make you feel so good inside in this age of covid. The doro wat, What?!? That is the best I've ever tasted in over a long time. The Gomen Kitfo, legendary. The whole dish and restaurant is a experience I hope and pray they need to go and try them out. They put their hearts into this, and I can see, feel, taste and understand it.

Bhumika Saivamani: Amazing food and customer service! They have Ethiopian wine and beers as well. This place is open late (until 1 am on weekends) which is definitely a plus).

Sarah Cross: Best Ethiopian food in the US. I sat at the bar and a regular patron ordered food for me. I ate spicy lamb, with sides of red and yellow lentils, washed down with an Ethiopian beer. If I lived in DC I’d eat there weekly.

Laura O'Melia: So good. We didn’t know what to order so when the owner came by to say hi and see how we were doing, we told him this was out first time to eat Ethiopian. He took our menus and said he would take care of us. We trusted him and were not disappointed.

Nina Woythaler: Insanely good, great vegan options, authentic, and super friendly staff!

Nasir Fazal: Amazing pancake on a plate where all the food is laid out! Strange though the pancake is cold Ethiopian style. Lovely atmosphere!

Chercher Ethiopian Restaurant & Mart: what do users think?

H: Incredible food. The price is high but this food is meant to be shared. If you need more injera all you have to do is ask! The flavors are phenomenal. Sirloin steak was flavorful. I personally had my favorites but I'd recommend getting a little bit of everything in each bite. It's a dance of flavors and textures. The restaurant itself is small but packs in a little under 50 people. Bar seating available or table seating. It takes time to get your food so come with company and enjoy it. There's one bathroom that ended up getting clogged and put out of service when I went but other than that fluke it's a superb establishment and dining experience. Highly recommend.

Suradee Thongkiattikul: Great place for lunch. We had three people and ordered a deluxe that came with everything ($40) and it was enough for us to share. You can always ask for more injera since it initially comes with three rolled up. The service was great and the ladies that served us were super friendly and welcoming. She saw me standing outside in the cold while waiting for my friends to arrive and she told me that I should come in and wait inside where it’s warm. I’ve been to many Ethiopian restaurants and they usually serve it on a large round platter, but because we had one friend who had dietary restrictions, they were nice enough to separate the mesh from the rest (I’ve attached pictures). Overall a great place to check out and try out for lunch.

Queen Melissa: I love the food and staff were nice. It would get all star if the appearances of the place was better and clean. The stairs are fairly weak, big hole in wall at entrance, no soap to wash hands, and dead bug on wall. Like said food was really good just need to tighten and clean the area up better.

sparrowmedrama: What a nice experience with Ethiopian food. The beef was amazingly seasoned and cooked. The vegan special was great for all the different tastes. The inerja bread is definitely an acquired taste. Service was very friendly and helpful. Overall, dinner was exceptional and would return to try different dishes.

Anthony S: What a great little spot for Ethiopian food! Flavours are on point and portion size is generous. Don’t miss this one if you’re around this neighborhood For more great travel eats, check out and follow me @instantonium on Instagram

Ivysfoodcorner: Our first time running into exotic food, and turns out its scoring a goal! You can smell the herbs once you’re stepping your foot in, even if you’re wearing a mask, you already can imagine the deliciousness, yuum 😋! We’re there al lil bit after lunch time, so the indoor dining was still has some crowd which is good because you can sneak on other’s meal. We order platters version, so next time we know what to get! CherCher Vegan Special - Deluxe, 10 dishes of vegetable mix with herbs. I love everything, especially the beets, the salad, the fosolia be carote, the lentils come in two version with different mix of herbs, the collards, the cabbage, and the chickpeas. All are healthy delicious mix in one plate, served with injera bread. CherCher Beef Special Tibs Strips of tender meat, with exotic herbs. This is a must have if you love meat, you can taste the juicyness in herbs mixture, also the grill taste. Eat only the meat or wrap with the bread or maximize with mix of everything from the vegan special, super yuuum 😋. Only by tasting them, you know the level of super yuuum 😋 The restrooms cleanliness check is important! It’s spacious that can fit for mom and running around toddler, it’s clean enough especially between busy lunch time though, there’s paper towel holder is empty inside the restrooms, but there’s another hand washing area by the restrooms entry. We are expected to enjoy the meal with our fingers to maximize the goodness delivered, and no cutleries prepared on the table, maybe you can ask for it, but almost nobody using them, at least that afternoon. Overall both platers are delicious, next time we know better which to order.

Winnie Xu: Yum! Came here on the weekend at 1pm and there was no wait. They have a cute little back patio. Prices are ~$20 a platter but honestly. That’s enough for 2. We ordered the vegan special and the 50/50 tibbs and it was absolutely amazing. Way too much food for 2 people but we are strong 💪🏼

Anthony Stewart: The best Ethiopian food I’ve had in a long while! Service was fast, friendly, and courteous. I forgot my mask and asked them for an extra one which they quickly and kindly provided. The prices are great, the portions are generous and the taste is simply amazing. The space is not large, but that’s okay as they are not pretentious at all and the quaintness adds a bit of authenticity. I cannot wait to go back! This will be my go-to Ethiopian spot during my time in the district! ❤️ 🇪🇹 🍲 🥘

Fiorella Hidalgo: Went all the way to DC to get Ethiopian food since I discovered they made it to the Michelin Bib Gourmand 2021! I had food from the Bethesda location, but the flavors cannot be compared to this one. My boyfriend and I shared the CherCher Vegan Platter (Special with all the servings) and the Fish Dullet (Tuna fish) because I’m pescatarian. If you like sweet alcoholic drinks, their honey infused white wine is delicious (and very tricky hahah!). Even on Wednesday night, it was super busy and we had to wait a little bit longer than we would have liked for the extra portion of injera to finish our meal; I felt sorry because there were only 2 servers taking care of a full house and all the delivery orders! I promise the food is so delicious, the wait is worth it!

Steph D: My friend and I ordered the Chercher Vegan Special and the Chercher Beef Special Tibs. It was way more than enough for two people and extremely filling. I left the restaurant feeling very full. The food was delicious and the beef was flavourful and very tasty. The prices were a bit more on the expensive side though.

Dukem Ethiopian Restaurant: what do users think?

Muniba Khan: I came here for dinner on a Friday night and had a good experience! It wasn't too crowded and we were easily able to get a table for two. We got one of the combination platter (I think it was 27) and it was a good way to try a variety of the food and it was plenty for 2 people! They also have a good variety of drinks. Everything tasted pretty good, it's a good option if you're looking for Ethiopian food in the area.

Leah Kellenberger: Food is always amazing here. Great selection of food as well as drinks. Got to try Ethiopian honey wine for the first time! Service was quick and it’s a great location, take a little walk on U St afterwards. Super reasonable prices as well. Highly recommend.

Nils Hünerfürst: I tried so many Ethiopian Restaurants and Dukem is one of the best! Deluxe Veggie is the ultimate experience.

Patricia “womanofinspiration” Pennant: Went hear to eat for the first time through recommendation from a friend. We went early. There was no one else there besides us when we arrived. Despite this, on several occasions we had to ask for attention and service for what we wanted. Asked for menus. Asked for drinks. When the food arrived, waitress did not bring all items incl on main dish. Asked for and waited for that to arrive. Asked for and waited on hill to arrive. When it finally came, it was upwards of $154.00 on a meal for two people. Waitress was unable to explain the bill to us, so had to wait for the manager. After I spoke with manager, waitress finally came back with bill split according to how we ordered. My portion was $47 and change. Still overcharged, but paid because I felt I spent more time waiting as it was. The food was alright. But not worth what was being charged. Service was substandard.

Sridhar Sampath: Nice Ethiopian food good service! The Ethiopian beer Negus was good as well!!

Ross Martin: We stopped in for a late dinner after catching a show at The Kennedy Center. Totally worth the 15 minute drive. It wasn’t at all busy, but should be. They accommodated our vegan needs with a wonderful spread of cabbage, lentils, spicy potatoes, and chickpeas. Yum!

Kampground USA: GREAT!! Ethiopian food at this restaurant. Service was on point from our waitress and the food can out quickly. The flavors of everything we had was rich and authentic. Can't wait to go back to D.C. and eat at this place again!!

David Wu: First time ever trying Ethiopian food! Was pleasantly surprised by the food! The meat we had was cooked perfectly and delicious. The wrap and some of the veggie dishes were a bit sour for my taste but still quite good!
Response: Dear David I thank you for your honest review and rating of my restaurant recently. If there is anything we should improve please do let us know. Regards Tefera Zewdie (Owner) Dukem Ethiopian Restaurant Washington DC

Jeff H: Update: Service is terrible, even when picking up. Even when there are no other orders waiting and the restaurant is not packed, they mess up a very simple pickup order and have to remake the entire thing while you wait even though you waited 30 minutes to come pick up your food. It's the reason why this place has an overall 4.0 rating, the service is just terrible but the food is fantastic. Excellent Ethiopian food that is always so good you wish you ordered more. Typically get the veggie platter with 5, 7, or 9 additions. Never had anything that I wouldn't eat again. The injera is perfect and the flavors are layered and complex. Love, love coming here!

Annabelle T.: This restaurant is pretty good. I think it's great for people who love Ethiopian food. If you never tried Ethiopian food before I would try someone else's before ordering a big meal. The lay out is beautiful. The servers are friendly but service can be slow.
Response: Dear Annie Thank you for your honest review and rating. I am so sorry you got a bit disappointed about the slow service. We make sure it will be corrected and does not happen on your next visit. Regards Tefera Zewdie (owner) Dukem Ethiopian Restaurant Washington, DC

Letena Ethiopian Restaurant: what do users think?

Jenna Peterson: Best Ethiopian in DC. I write this having made the rounds. Fresh. Flavorful. Well seasoned. Plentiful. My advice: start with the broccoli & avocado salad & lentil samosas. Finish with the veggie sampler with a side of beef stew. Collard greens and mushrooms are the standout in my opinion. Great vibe. Good beer options. Super friendly staff. Have opinions; Will share

Aditi Banerjee: Since there was two of us, we ordered a meat sampler for 2. A mistake in retrospect. Has 5 non vegetarian dishes and 2 vegetarian. The non veg ones are curries and start tasting like each other after a while. Lots of items missing from the menu. Definitely a filling meal but I am not sure I will return a second time. My companion who had never eaten Ethiopian in her life, found it great.

Kyle Dorough: This was my first time trying Ethiopian food. Taste and presentation were great! Service was patient and friendly, but a little slow. Definitely worth a visit.

Lindsay Rogan: Delicious food, beautiful dish presentation, cute atmosphere, friendly staff, decent prices. Total win! (One point of feedback is that they plated the delicious cubed meat tibs in the middle of the veggies which was fine for us but for some vegetarians I could see them being off put by this so I recommend asking for the meat to be plated separately if you have a strict vegetarian.)

Solome Tesemma: Not only was the food exquisite, but the atmosphere was amazing. Everything from the service to the interior design of the restaurant is top notch. I’ve been to many Ethiopian restaurants in the DMV area but I can’t compare them to the food that we had tonight. It was amazing.

Royal Le: only eaten here once, wasn’t impressed by the vegetarian sampler i got. the side salad came in a container so small it is no joke what you’d normally put condiments in, it was a very sad salad. it’s possible i don’t like Ethiopian food, i can’t compare it to anything else.

Heleen Raes: I had my first experience with Ethiopian food here and loved it. The staff was very friendly and happy to explain everything. My party ordered a meat dish and the vegetable sampler and we couldn’t finish all of it, it was so tasty but also very filling. The prices are also low for DC, but you truly get amazing dishes!

Hibbert Esquire: Great atmosphere, lovely staff, and salivating food!!! We will surely revisit on our next trip from NY!

Mia K Arakaki: Best Ethiopian food I have ever had. I have lived bet NYC, DC, and ATL. Great service. But why is the Tej not on the beverage list? I used to buy some from them so I'm pretty sure they have it Im pregnant but when im not im going to get some
Response: Thanks so much for taking your time to review us and we are glad you enjoyed your experience. We left the Tej out of our menu, as supply has been unreliable since the pandemic. We are currently working to bring it back. Thanks

Charles Ho: One of the best Ethiopian food I had. The lamb tip was great. Juicy, tender and a bit spicy. I recommend eating with the jalapeno. For the meat sampler, the chicken was a huge letdown. The tomato sauce is too overpowering. I prefer the injera over rice for my meal. The tea was full of spices, taste like chai to me. The place is small but cozy

Zenebech Restaurant: what do users think?

Callie Phelps: Had to wait quite a long time for our food, but it was TASTY. This was my first time eating Ethiopian food: everything came on one large platter that we shared and you eat everything with the sponge-like tortilla bread - injera. It was a fun experience!

Josh Axelrod: If you've never indulged in Ethiopian cuisine, one of DC's most vital ethnic dining delights, start with Zenebech. You'll mix and match various meats and veggies all served atop a pillowy bread called injera. The food is excellent and the experience of sharing food and eating with your hands is just as fun and memorable.
Response: Thank you

Jenn: Beautiful restaurant with a great patient staff and wonderful food. We didn't have to wait long to be seated and orders were taken quickly and efficiently and all safety protocols were in place for indoor eating during covid as well. Portions are generous and everything was flavorful and spiced just right. Pricing was spot on as well. My sausages really enjoyed eating with their hands and loved that they entrees were mildly spiced for their young taste buds. The lentil Sambusa was spicy and we were warned as it came to the table so we wouldn't give it to the kids, which I appreciated very much. Loved their 4 near/4 veg combo and their Kitfo was perfectly spiced for the adults and crazy delicious. Will definitely be back when in town again and will definitely be recommending for as long as they are open!

Buff Maniscalco: One of my favorite places in a city filled with amazing restaurants. One draw back is that Washington does not allow raw beef, so the kitfo is lightly cooked. But it is also spiced to perfection.

Ruth Bonacci: This restaurant is fabulous! We started by ordering an appetizer called Lentils Sambusa. It was a little turnover with a great sauce on the side. My husband and I ordered one for each of us. Then, we ordered two main dishes and four vegetable sides. They were all served on one platter over injera. We also got injera on the side. Injera is crepe-like flatbread. You do not use silverware to eat from the platter. Instead, you tear off bits of injera and wrap it around small bites taken from the platter. For our main dishes we ordered Goden Tibs (fried short ribs) and Key Wot (spicy beef stew). Then we also ordered four vegetable sides: Ater (yellow lentils), Mesir (spicy red lentils), Gomen (spicy collard greens), and some beet mixture. We loved everything we ordered and we were quite full at the end of our meal. This is is tasty and different dining experience. Think of spicy as something flavorful like cardamon and ginger and not overly hot. The bill was quite reasonable. I would come back here if I ever come back to Washington D.C. again.

Ethan Bassford: A delicious and abundant meal, not a bad wait even at peak time on a Saturday. Best meats were kitfo and derek tibs, best vegetables were red lentils and yellow lentils. Also loved the sambusas, flavorful and wonderfully crispy. When I go to DC, Ethiopian is what I want to eat, and this place hit all the spots.
Response: Thank you

Danielle: I ordered a sambusa and their vegetarian combo with creamy chickpeas, spinach, split peas and beets. I told the server that I'm a wimp with spicy and she kindly suggested the milder food options, she was very patient and helpful. The food was absolutely delicious and filling 😊❤ I love the opportunity to eat dishes that don't require utensils. Made the food so much more rewarding to eat. Would 10/10 recommend.

kip: This place is bussin bussin. Went on my birthday and I got free food. I am now mad thick of food and I will be rolling home full of some top notch food. This food is great for sustaining a happy mood. I also had sprite with my food. 5 stars

Andrea whyms: Bruhhhh... This is SO good. I haven't had Ethiopian food in a while. Im so glad I chose this place although doordash. Damn near doubles the price. Super spicy and flavorful. Nice portions.

Chiara: Delightful! I came on a weekday late at night and had no trouble getting a table. I tried to come on a Saturday night before and it was WAY too busy- so try to either get a reservation or come on the weekdays. For an appetizer, I ordered a sambusa- which was perfectly crisp and the lentils inside were so flavorful- great herbs and a slight hint of spice. I actually thought it was meat at first. It comes with a very tasty sauce that I could’ve eaten everything with! I would’ve been just fine eating like 3 of those for my meal because they were so good. I also ordered their Ethiopian Habesha gold pale ale lager which paired perfectly with the sambusa. For an entree, I got the lamb derek tibs which came with injera (fermented tangy spongy flatbread) and two veggie choices. I chose the chickpeas and the split peas and enjoyed them. It was surprisingly filling- I could only eat half the portion! FYI- they don’t supply utensils- but that’s all part of the experience! You use your hands and the injera to pick up and eat your meal. Overall- a fun and tasty meal. :)
Response: thank you and see you again

Ethiopic Restaurant: what do users think?

Mary Smith: First time having Ethiopian food and we weren't disappointed. Delicious and full of flavor! A platter is more than enough for 2 people. Ordering is online through QR code, but very straightforward. Staff are helpful and receptive. Definitely recommend.

Matt Monarch: I’m not the first white guy to fill myself up like an injera balloon and sweat through a dish the majority of the world considers mild, and I will not be the last. I’m also not an Ethiopian food expert, but I’ve had it a few times and this was probably the best. The vegetarian sampler for two was really good. Of the seven items included I only didn’t care for one of them, and that was primarily because it was too spicy for me (which means fine for most everyone else). We probably would have been fine with the “for one” version of the sampler given the app and lamb entree we added. Both of those were good, but nothing special. All of the injera we got was great.

Nils Hünerfürst: Ethiopic is by far one of the best Ethiopian Restaurant in DC. The order process is 100 % digital so don’t forget your phone. For vegetarians is a lot to eat here and my Kids also had a lot of fun to try every different flavour. I would recommend to eat one vegetarian platter for three people.

Alan Thorpe: I am not an expert on Ethiopian cuisine, but I can say this restaurant's offerings are delicious and great for conversation. Don't be afraid to ask your server for their suggestion as they are quite willing to help. Ordering for your table is done online from the table, so don't forget to bring at least one smart device! The night we dined there was a mix of couples and groups of four or less. A single diner or two sprinkled about.

DJ Gino Wilson: Very professional and very delicious. I was greeted inside and led to a table. Staff member assisted me in ordering which is done completely at the table. Bread was brought to the table and not long after a sizzlingmeal appeared. Very delicious with a beautiful presentation. Awesome.

Naomi Leonard: I had a chicken dish which was very tasty. Seasoned perfectly with the right amount of spice. The bread was very good as well

Brittany K: I had a fantastic vegan/vegetarian sampler plate. It was flavorful, the perfect spice level, and very filling. I ordered a glass of wine, and when it arrived, I really didn't care for it. The server was happy to bring me a taste of something else and help me find something that I liked. I really appreciated that they were willing to do that! You do have to order online/from QR code. They don't have waiters that come to the table to check on you. However, all of my interactions with the staff were great, especially when they helped to replace my wine. Would absolutely go back!

Shahab Afshar: It was my first experience with Ethiopian food and I loved it. Bothe deset and main course was very delicious. Highly recommend this place.

Sena Seged: I really loved the vibe of this restaurant. Inside it’s very modern and Americanized, but they did a good job maintaining the culture aspect with the food and background music. We ordered the Lamb Tibs with the Special Kitfo. The food did not disappointment! Highly recommend to anyone in the DC area.

Benjamin Allen: Lovely spot. Everyone is so attentive. Get ready to eat with your hands. You might need some extra napkins. You'll have more food than you know what to do with if you order a platter. Remember, your eyes are bigger than your stomach. There's plenty to go around.

Das Ethiopian Cuisine: what do users think?

Mica Ann: This is my first time trying Ethiopian food and I enjoyed it. I was surprise not to see utensils at first but our waitress explained to us how to order and how to eat. She is extremely courteous and took her time with us in spite of the fact that she is the only one serving both indoor and outdoor dining. She’s a superwoman! I truly admire her. Anyway, we ordered some samosas for appetizer and we ordered both meat and vegetarian sampler to try. We also ordered another meat entree. We are a party of four and not too hungry but we killed it!

Vidhi Nangia: Great food but I didn’t feel like I was eating anything exceptionally unique. This gives very much comfort food vibes, which is not a bad thing at all I was just expecting something different. I would probably come back to try some different dishes. The one thing I recommend definitely getting is the mushroom appetizer. Also, the injera was so soft and had the right tartness to it. Eating with your hands is a much more enjoyable experience.

Natalia Suska: What a cool experience! Highly recommended going with a group so everyone can get a meal each to share, and to try as many things as possible. The staff is super kind and helpful. And the food was bomb! We also got the honey wine which was super tasty.

BA R: Lovely Ethiopian restaurant in Georgetown. Sat outside on a Saturday afternoon. Delicious food. The towel looking crepes were used to eat our food was tasty. Enjoyed the authenticity of the restaurant.

Al Edmondson: Very intimate place. Food was really tasty and enjoyable. Staff was extremely courteous, catering, and efficient..My friend said that I picked a fine dining establishment. LOL. I said it made me feel very comfortable and welcomed. Service was just that good. 👌 If they had double or triple the space they would still be packed. For a romantic or intimate dining experience without the overbearing, busy, loud dining hall feel, go here. The dessert was just so delicious, you'll be tempted to get one to go also.

JesusChristisLord GodIsGood: Nice food. Friendly service. A new way to enjoy good fish and beef.

Rebecca Rogers: Das Ethiopian is by far my fav Ethiopian in DC! As a vegan, there are plenty of great options. I’ve been at least 3 times now and it has never disappointed! Would highly recommend.

RJ Smith: Great food and atmosphere. Definitely worth a trip for a quick night out. With their many delicious and filling veggie options we were able to sample around the menu a bit and get a good sense of everything while catering to my party’s plant based preferences.

Laura Arzola: This was one of the worst dining experiences ever, from start to finish. My boyfriend and I requested a table for 2 and the host rudely told us that the restaurant was completely booked for the day. We then went online and saw multiple reservations available for that time, so it made no sense to be turned away. Once we made the reservation and were finally seated, we ordered the chicken and beef combo and the veggie sampler. We asked to substitute one of the meats for the tibs and the server refused. The portions were so small it was actually a joke, especially for the price. It was flavorless and did not seem fresh. How is this a Michelin star restaurant? When we asked for the check, it took more than 20 minutes. Overall awful customer service. You will find much better Ethiopian restaurants in DC so don’t waste your time or money!

kalabe mulugeta: As soon as we walked into the restaurant we were met with hostility. The restaurant had plenty of open seats but the greeter told us they were booked for the day and that we can’t be seated. I went online and saw plenty of reservations available so I booked one and showed it to her and she begrudgingly took us to our seats. We ordered their chicken and beef combo along with the veggie sampler and they weren’t tasty at all. Food tasted like it had just been reheated and lacked flavor. In addition, the portions were so small that I could’ve ate the whole plate by myself, seems like you would have to order 3 entrees to feed two people. Finally, I asked for the check and it took 20 min to come. I would definitely say this place is lacking good customer service and I hope they address the problem.

Purify Love: Great atmosphere, great service, bring some money to get the full experience! Shisha excellent, food excellent, Owner is awesome! I get great treatment here and always leave with great memories! No drama, no trouble, safe environment, great music. I hope to return again as soon as I can! Go there this evening and Enjoy! Tiffany Lancaster - (1st Ethiopian To be Elected to DC Official Office)

Amy Tesfaye: My nephew ordered the special veggie combo for me. The picture on DoorDash shows 8 items and what was delivered was less than that. The portion of the food is too small and it is not worth the money. I called them and the guy who picked up the call hanged up on me.

Tg: I was rooming round in DC and saw this restaurant so we decided to go dine in, the very welcoming server made eye contact and showed us our table gave menu, come back to take our order also suggested that I should try sautéed Lamb onions, tomatoes and potato wedges with Engera or freshly backed bread I took the suggestion order Lamb. While waiting for my food I turned to see dine areas the atmosphere was great, the Lamb was cooked Beautifully and the portion was large so I asked to go parcel, definitely I would suggest this restaurant and when I go back DC I would love to visit the restaurant again.

Tsenu Ashna: Nice place.Beautiful place.from the good cofee ceremony at 5 to dinner its perfect Ethiopian place. I love the dry special tibs and the vegi combo. Good smell and clean restroom. I can see 5 sance in good treatment. Clean place, smell good, test good, and hear good music.
Response: Thank so much!!!

አድዋ TV: For some time I have been enjoying the kitfo (spiced minced meat) and used to prefer the place whenever I feel like eating Kitfo. However, recently in two different days I noticed that the taste has changed very much. Traditionally kitfo has to be made fresh, and when ever it’s not made that way it gets a different taste, something like a food that was kept open overnight. After the first experience, I went the second time just giving them the benefit of drought that it might have been an isolated incident, but found it to be otherwise. No more kitfo at Hiwot.
Response: I love critics it helps me improve my service but in your case you have been coming here multiple times a week to eat kitfo and you always finish your plate including the last one you complained about. Our kitfo is always the same we use fresh & top of the line ingredients ,but please stop by I will gladly refund your money!!! Thank you!!!

WENDY BRYANT: The food was good, but the table and chair weren't suited for sharing to far apart. The owner was nice but his kid was yelling and playing with one of the owners friends. I would give it a 2nd chance tbough.

Carissa Hart: We order from here all the time. The shiro and key wot have the best flavors I've ever had. Can't recommend enough.

Bonnie Foote: Delicious Ethiopian! Freshest I've had in DC. (I've ordered the veg combo twice) Nice service, too.

Zelalem Desta: Very authentic Ethiopian food .Their Price's are All reasonable with traditional Ethiopians hospitality . Unforgettable experience.

Kassahun Bogale: Hi is so Friendly and kind . The food is Awesome. But one things I have a chace to eat only Sutrday and Sunday. Keep it up.

Family Ethiopian Restaurant: what do users think?

Miguel Curiel: Delicious Ethiopian food at an extremely affordable price, cannot recommend it enough! As the name suggests, it is family owned, which contributes to the place’s homely feeling. This was my first time trying Ethiopian food, the waiter guided us through it and absolutely loved everything we tried - especially recommend the mixed meat dish, ideal for sharing.

Bree T: One of my top 5 meals out, ever! The food was incredible -- so flavorful and authentic. I LOVED the Injera bread and the style of eating! The staff was kind and helpful - the owner even came over to speak with us and speak to our baby. This is a DC gem! 10/10! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Amanda Blake: The food is AMAZING, and the server was so helpful and friendly!! I'd only had Ethiopian once before, so I'm new to it. The combo options make sampling several dishes very easy, and they're a great deal at $10-15 per person. Everything was delicious and super filling. I will definitely be visiting again! 10/10

Scott Nguyen: Their platters are large enough to feed 2-3 persons so if you're with someone, I would recommend you order that to sample what's available. The restaurant is family owned and they make you feel at home. The server asked patrons in the restaurant if they had Ethiopian food before which I thought was a nice gesture to help guests try new foods. The food itself was delicious, definitely a fan of the injera bread (slightly sour and fluffy bread as it is a fermented food). Would revisit this place in the future.

LoMo: Hands. Down. Best. Ethiopian. Food. Ever! Food is aromatic and will make you salivate upon entry! It was such a pleasure to be served by the talented Chef Seferash! She was extremely hospitable and kind, despite being short-staffed. If you’re in DC, you MUST visit this place! We ordered the Family Meat & Veggie Combo, Veggie Spring Rolls, and Fosolia. Stop by and see what you’re missing!
Response: Thank you dear will see you next time

Julie P: First time eating Ethiopian and I'm so glad I came here! The wait staff were welcoming and informative about the menu and methods of eating Ethiopian food. We shared the meat and vegetable platter - perfect size for two. I will definitely return for another visit.

Amanda Barba: Amazing service and food at Family Ethiopian Restaurant! It is quite an experience as a their meals are not enjoyed with utensils, rather with bread that you grab the protein and vegetables with. The staff was amazing and I highly recommend Family Ethiopian Resturant!

Abby Fasehun: Myself and my partner loved our experience here. The food was okay, and very inexpensive; but I would say the customer service was the best part of our experience; really great people. Oh I loved the atmosphere too. Will definitely stop by again.

Alic Wired: The food was delicious, consistent with other Ethiopian restaurants I have visited over the years. The place is not large, and gets full quickly in the evening. I stopped by at 4:30pm on a Wednesday, and more than half of the tables were occupied. The server was very friendly, however she was the only one working the tables, so it took some time for the order to get ready. One other thing worth mentioning that I didn't mind (and that wasn't reflected in my rating) was witnessing the (pet?) mouse occasionally running around the floor. I named him Rick and didn't pay any more attention to him.

Jennifer Liang: Amazing food and dining experience! Very homely restaurant and the staff were very kind! Tried the honey wine and was in love; also would recommend the family special to share with another. Would return again if possible!

Zachary Reshovsky: Have ordered here multiple times - all online. Really great place! Wonderful combination of nutritious food and high caloric intake. Would strongly recommend!
Response: Thank you!

Devry Jones: This is a great neighborhood Ethiopian restaurant. Whenever friends visit from out of town and want Ethiopian, this is our first suggestion. There’s a nice small-town feel to the establishment.
Response: Thank you for your comment!!

Frederick F: Got food to take out... The portions were very generous... The food was excellent! Definitely recommended!

myana fuller: Manager bar lady is rude not compassionate I placed a order online awaze tibs I meant to place an order for chicken tibs which is the same price as the awaze even a couple cents more anyaways I cannot consume red meat for health reasons only lean skinless chicken I should’ve double made sure on my end I selected the right one so I had my boyfriend to pick up the order for me with the show order details on DoorDash he explained the situation and she completely dismissed the health reason and forced him to take the beef with him and it comes with two side I asked for beets it didn’t receive them

Salah Fozi: I have a veggie combination with a fish wow its very delicious and fresh one order was enough for two persons but I eat it by myself I think the chief cook is professional and beautiful combination. Excellent Customer service you can not compare with other Ethiopian restaurant specially Amy Desta wow I love this Restaurant even though I live in Baltimore MD but I don't mind to drive 62 miles to get this type of special food. My Advise is to you please keep it the Standard of your Quality and Quantity including your sweet customer service. I love you all Deset family god bless

Raphael Tisch: The vegetarian options at Deset do not disappoint at all. 5* for food, 3* for ambiance. While this is no luxury dining, or "cozy" spot, what this little restaurant lacks in ambiance, it makes up for in excellent food with massive flavor. There is a full bar with good prices, and a nice selection of Ethiopian beers to wash it all down with. If you're in the mood for high flavor with little flare, this is the spot for you. Will definitely be coming back.

Jasmin Hollywood: Their vegetarian platter was awesome and totally hit the spot. The waitress was very tentative and friendly. I heard they have live music some nights and I am very excited to go there again. Next time i will have to bring a friend or my mom would definitely enjoy the atmosphere .
Response: thank you so much! please come back again!

Jessica Sojorne Libere: Not only great food, but a wonderful service. I was picking up food to take to a friend who was having a rough time. The portions were incredible - we each got two meals from one meat platter (for 2). The owner is really patient and kind. All that plus yummy food, what else can you want?!

dag: we ordered vegi combo and meat combo via uber eat ,the combo was only 4 kinds . on the website they advertise that they have at least 7 kinds. the worst taste we have ever had. we actually dump it. luckily uber refunded us . don't order from here, you will regret it.

Andrew Brown: Impressive quality food delivered with unparalleled speed and exceptional service. Our server even taught us how to eat the dishes we ordered upon inquiry. It was also pleasant because it wasn't crowded during dinner hours (on Wednesday) and the bathroom was clean.

Cobun Zweifel-Keegan: No frills hole in the wall. Family run and make you feel like family. Great food for SO much less than you'd pay in busier parts of town

Daniel Woldorff: It was SO good. Some of the tastiest Ethiopian I’ve had. We ordered a veggie sampler and a meat sampler with beef tibs, lamb tibs and doro wat, plus some kitfo. I wish the injera was a little more sour (my girlfriend thought it was perfect), but overall the food was very good. Also the staff were super nice.

Ephrem Paulos: Food is delicious, staff are very friendly. Highly recommend!

Ethan Ableman: Came for lunch on a Sunday and the place was empty. Vegetarian platter was delicious and plenty of food to split for two. Owners are very kind and super helpful. Definitely give it a try!

William Crumpler: This place is delicious! Two friends and I came for dinner and we left fully satisfied. The Doro and Shiro wot and vegetarian entres were all great, and tremendously filling. Great prices for both the quality and quantity of food, and the owners are very friendly. Can't wait to come back and try breakfast.

Brian Frank: Very tasty and reasonably priced. This is family owned and the owner is always checking on your satisfaction. This is our favorite Ethiopian spot in the city.

Betty Perez: Fantastic atmosphere in the room. Great food selection, and wonderful service. One of my favourite spots of my trip.

Justin Wright: A favorite restaurant of mine in the DC area. A must, if you enjoy Authentic Ethiopian cuisine. Situated on GA Ave in DC, the ambience of this establishment is bar none, in rivaled by its impeccable customer service.

Stacy Walker: Super good, and the waitress was the sweetest thing ever!

Alexander Cole: Excellent customer service, almost obsessively clean, amazing flavorful food. Very ordered and well lit. I wish them the best of luck!
Response: Thank you so much for your kind words. Please stop by anytime.

Bernard Yao: Asked them for a combo that offered a vegetarian and meat option and they recommended the 50/50 combo. I didn't know what that was but ended up going with a spicy lentil dish and this beef stir fry well done. I was pretty hungry at this point and when I went up to pick up my food from the counter I realized holy cow how big the proportions were. I didn't expect that much food for a single person. What I got was probably going to easily feed two people. The combo also came with like 2 pieces of Injera bread. I also realized after completing the last Injera that I am able to go and ask for more Injera with my meal. The food was so much that I ended up needing to pack the leftovers in a box and they were also nice enough to give me two more extra Injera breads to go home. What I also don't realize was how tasty the food is as leftovers. After I went for a late evening run around the city and returned back to the hotel I finished all the leftover lentil and beef stir fry. The Injera bread soaks up all those delicious spices and pairs so nicely with the lentils and beef. This is definitely one of the more memorable experiences of this trip to Washington D.C. I know am interested in finding some god Ethiopian food places back home in around the Los Angeles area.

Sam OB: The most convenient Habesha restaurant around Dmv. Kitfo Lebleb is always my go and dulot, it was good today. If you cool get raw if not lebleb is the best thing.
Response: Thank you so much for the feed back

jed sherman: Freshest food. Friendliest staff. Had a breakfast combo and coffee. :)
Response: Thank you for the feed back

Seungman Williams: Dine in or take out the food is phenomenal and fresh. Very generous portion sizes, deep rich flavors that leave you wanting more but you're stomach has no space. Fair prices and great service. Blessings
Response: thank you so much for your positive review

Johannes S.: The food (in our case Taste of Habesha) is usually excellent, but the amount can be a rip-off. Tonight (Friday after 9 pm) the bottom of the container delivered to us was barely covered with the thinnest layer possible. It was less than half of what we would have gotten at the restaurant. Don't do Ueber with them.
Response: Dear Mr.S I am very sorry about your disappointment of your recent order. Despite our effort to satisfy your order it is quite unfortunate we did not meet up your satisfaction. We promise to correct when you make your next order . If you have any question or need further assistance please feel free to call us on (202)232-1919 Best Regard's The Management.

Alexa Hornbeck: Amazing place !! Wow what an amazing dinner it lasted 2 days there was so much of it ! Deluxe veggie combo with gluten free injera!! The staff was friendly too when I called, and can tell this was prepared with love and care ! I love love love this place will def be ordering from them again !

Travis Silvester: Simply delicious and good value. Friendly service with plenty of Ethiopians eating here (actually 90% I'd say). Open view kitchen in a cosy environment. The wife loved it so much she ordered a second dinner! Would be back if I lived here.

Shell L: Excellent Ethiopian food! Honestly, one of the best I've tasted so far. I am still thinking about it! This place would get 5 stars but I took 1 star away because of the loose covid protocols in place. The tables for indoor seating were dirty and not cleaned. Mask mandated for customers were optional (none of the customers except me and my friend wore a mask) and those making the food, one guy did not wear a mask and other wore it below the nose. Though the food was excellent, eat at your own risk.
Response: Thank you for the feed back.

Timmy Sileshi: As usual, the best eats you can possibly find in the city. If you are a carnivore, don't go anywhere else but here. The food tastes marvelous.I have tried just about every Ethiopian restaurant in the DC metro area. Amazingly this tops them all. I can't say much about there vegan dish but if you look at the pictures I took off the meat selection, it's really out of this world.

Darlene Jefferson: A stop on Our Food Tour! Delicious Food! Friendly staff

Jacqueline Short: Amazing Ethiopian food! My second time here and so far has been very consistent. Their food is rich in flavor and spiced to perfection. The service is friendly and attentive, thank you Betty for providing great service and making our meal enjoyable. I drove 50mins to come here and worth every minute of the drive.

Walter Gottlieb: This restaurant is a hidden gem. The food is excellent and the vibe warm and friendly. Much of this is due to the owner, Danny, who is an excellent, gracious host. He made an impromptu birthday celebration for our daughter into a very special night. Can't recommend this place enough!

Habitually Hilari: I felt the service was by far the worst ever. It’s always interesting to me when foreign Black people try to mistreat Black American people. She served every man in the restaurant And then came to help my children and I. The opportunity to even sell your food in this country is because of me and my ancestors! I love Ethiopian food but I’m straight on some of the racist and ignorant people like the women working as an oppressed servant in this restaurant.

Derek Pipher: The food was very tasty! The staff was helpful in explaining dishes and making choices.

Lotus Wellness: Food is Okay! the place is wide enough, clean, brightness I can say half, music is a bit louder. After all the good service from the waiter I recommend them to have some air freshener.

Frezer Zewdie: The vegetarian dish was delicious! So many different flavors tantalizing my tastebuds as in was eating. I also recommend The kitfo dish for those who eat meat. It's not too oily but it is absolutely delicious! The hospitality was warm and the environment was inviting.

onelife tolive: I ordered special kitfo and ended up with a bitter taste green cabbage, water soaked 'Ayib' and very small amount of kitfo ( compared to other Ethiopian places around).

Mamadou Sakho: Customer service is essential. Sheesh sometimes spending money with your own people be the worst.

K Apara: Omg...there was a huge roach under my plate. I showed them the roach & they just stared at me & said "ok". They didn't even try to clean it or wipe down the counter. If they had at least tried to kill it I would have kept this to myself...but it is not normal to be comfortable with roaches. I have never seen a roach in a restaurant until coming here...so distasteful.

David W.: The food was high quality and authentic, and service was prompt and congenial in a casual environment.

Ari Katz: Took kids here for their first Ethiopian food ever and they loved it. Delicious food, got vegetarian combo, lamb stew and tibs. (Lamb was best.) Atmosphere is a little dark, it's set up mostly as a banquet hall. But the food was great.

Tyrell Lloyd: This place is a charming restaurant that is family owned, serving delicious traditional Ethiopian food. Everything being freshly cooked, this place is certainly a must for everyone who loves to experience authentic Ethiopian food. I highly recommend visiting this place and to check it out. They also have a store next door with local products and goods.

Aman Tefera: If you didn’t try this place, then you’re missing out! The most amazing delicious food and service.❤️❤️❤️😋😋😋out of this world!!!# KUNAMA # 🇪🇷❤️🇪🇹

Claire Kilimangi: Very delicious and flavorful food. Got the tomato salad, the special vegetarian combo, and the lamb awazi. I highly recommend this place for authentic Ethiopian food. The price was also decent.

Michael W: I've ordered from this place a few times, and it's always a good experience. The veggie combo is awesome. I love the way they cook the fish (if you like who baked fish). I highly recommend this restaurant for something a little different. Enjoy!

Joy Zhang: We got the kitfo, it was sooo good. First time trying Ethiopian food and we'd definitely return! The injera was so fluffy and delicious. Really good food at a low cost price (15.99 for food that could feed up to 3 people)

Ryx T: Exceptional food with great portions and flavour. Takeout travels exceptionally well and is packaged with care. The restaurant took great care to ensure that our dietary restrictions were met. Highly recommended! We ordered: -Special vegetarian combo -kitfo/tibs combo -ethiopian injera The kitfo and tibs were cooked perfectly to order, each with very distinct but equally amazing tastes! The vegetarian sampling was all delicious and went amazingly both individually and in the same bite! Note that these combos come with (awesome) house injera, and you can also buy delicious imported injera! Both are fluffy and tender, with slightly different flavor profiles. Delicious!

Susan Yousuf: Spice 10/10! Hospitality 10/10! Portions 10/10! Seasoning 10/10! Injera 10/10!Meaza has been our favorite Ethiopian restaurant since it opened! Enjoy it fresh in house in their cozy and cute dining space, or call-in for quick takeout.

Its.Fatimah: The kitfo was like the best thing I have ever tasted, I’ve been coming here since is was 5 with my family. Love this restaurant!

Gil C: Amazingly delicious Ethiopian food! Decor is superb. Server was very kind and helpful. Menu was a bit confusing but they helped us understand it. One of our items was sold out after we ordered so the chef gave us a salad on the house - very much appreciated! Then we started to dig in for the main course, ch r came out and asked how it was and that made it even better. Very good quality food and attention to detail is superb. You really feel they care about you here. Thanks!
Response: Thank you so much!!!

Jack Nemceff II: Exceptional. VIP platter, raw beef, and Ethiopian beer. Full bar service. Owner is super friendly and happy to welcome new diners. Server was also super nice, helpful to explain cultural customs, and attentive. A “hidden gem” (literally tucked off street). Would rank Nazaret among top Ethiopian places in DC/NOVA area. Worth the trip. Will return.

Lindsey Parham: I learned about this place from my Uber driver from Ethiopia. We were talking about the best places to eat and he said this was the best Ethiopian in town and WOW he was right. I've eaten at several local restaurants but this was next level. The food was amazing. It was super busy and lively on a Friday night but we got a good table right away. The service was fantastic and include multiple free shots. 10 out of 10 recommend.
Response: Thank you so much

Amanda Giles: We went as a group of four and all loved our experience. The owner/chef introduced himself and checked in with us multiple times. Our waitress was so friendly and helpful. It was our first experience with Ethiopian food and we weren’t sure what to expect. We had all our entrees on a large platter. Everything tasted phenomenal. So fresh and flavorful. I recommend the saint george’s beer which is an Ethiopian beer, if you like light beers. We finished the night with a macchiato coffee that was smooth and perfect. The prices were very reasonable. We will definitely go back!
Response: Thank you so much

T Parker: I love this place since my wife introduced me to Chef Endalk years ago. His cuisine is top notch and has “never” disappointed me. “Presidential meal status”, exquisite authentic Ethiopian Cuisine, and an atmosphere that has always been welcoming to everyone! He takes the time to “know his customers” and is often seen visiting the tables to talk to them. Everything is “succulent” and I mean EVERYTHING! I highly recommend Nazet Ethiopian Restaurant to anyone visiting Northern Virginia. If you’ve never had Ethiopian food, this should be your first stop. You won’t be disappointed.
Response: Thank you so much!!!

Michelle La Plante: We love Nazret! Not only is the food fantastic, but the service really makes you feel like family. The whole place has a welcoming, warm vibe. You can tell the owner and family who run it view “food as love” and they are ready to embrace you! Don’t think twice- it’s located in kind of in an awkward spot in a strip mall but once inside, you hear the music, smell the spices, and feel the love! I can’t wait to go back!
Response: Thank you so much!!

Jennifer White: The food was delicious! The place was packed, but we still didn’t wait to be seated. The owner took our orders and answered any questions we had about the menu. He was very friendly and attentive to everyone at the restaurant. We will definitely return.
Response: Thank you so much!!!

Ronald Maniece II: This was truly the best Ethiopian food I have ever had. I have tried over 10 different Ethiopian restaurants in the DMV, and this one remains supreme. They have great portion sizes, and you definitely get what you paid for. Never disappointed by the food or the service. Have yet to dine in, but the atmosphere is welcoming. 10/10 would recommend.
Response: Thank you very much!!

Edward Amartey-Tagoe: One of the only Ethiopian restaurant I have been to where they offered me options of authentic Njera made/imported from Ethiopia. It tastes different from the Njera made here. Staff was very friendly and our order didn’t take long. Enough parking available.
Response: Thank you do much!!

Thompson: Food is super delicious, service was great and arrived pretty quickly without much waiting!!We have been to couple of other Ethiopian restaurants within the same vicinity but none of them were not even close to Nazret in terms of quality and cleanliness! Please keep up the good work!
Response: Thank you so much!!!

Nile Restaurant and Market: what do users think?

Youthika Chauhan: Compared to other Ethiopian restaurants, the quantity was slightly less here. Normally, a vegetarian sampler/platter is enough for me and my husband, but here we had to order two. When we ordered the second time, we were served a larger sample size. The food tastes great. Slightly relaxed and laid back ambience.

Benjammin': Very good service and love the pictures of Ethiopia and proud Ethiopians (e.g. the King of Ethiopia and H. Gebrselassie) on the walls. Great experience for a Sunday evening tète-à-tète. We had the place to ourselves at around 5 pm and really enjoyed ourselves.

Herman Montvelisky: Were here Saturday January 13, 2018 with the family around 7pm on a semi-cold night. Had reserved and they had saved us the best table in the restaurant. There were mostly Ethiopian men at the bar and at a couple of tables. Typical Ethiopian men they were well-mannered minding their own business. The Ethiopian manager was friendly and helpful, explained the menu and took our order. Two or three other Ethiopian women serving the food were also very friendly. The food was good and authentic and the price was right. Have not been here for the buffet they serve at lunch but can only imagine it is good and at a good price. As for the parking on a Saturday night it is easy on the north side of Eastern Avenue close to the intersection with Georgia Avenue. If you are adventurous, like authentic Ethiopian food, and don't mind being the only non-Ethiopian in the restaurant I highly recommend this restaurant on a Saturday night.

Lee-Ellen Macon: Delicious food. Friendly people, both staff and locals.. Good prices. I was very welcomed, though a different ethnicity. Nice collection of Ethiopian artifacts. I can see why Ethiopian food is the rage! Seemed very authentic food:. I had a lamb dish with a side. Live far away but want to return! Wow! (Visited two Saturdays ago.)

Jim P: In comparison to other Ethiopian restaurants I've tried, this was OK. The staff is friendly but a little inattentive. The food was good and there is a good selection. I was hoping to find a sampler plate but didn't see one.

M o: Reminded me of the food I grew up with. Very delicious and filling. The staff was great and to top it off I was able to buy some ingredients to make my own from their market next door.

Zee Sudah: Love the Veggie #2 w/fish.

Jessica Walkup: I don't know if this still has the restaurant attached, but I have been to the restaurant twice (December 2012 and spring of 2013) and both times the food has been superb. My classmate who is Ethiopian recommended it as her favorite restaurant so the first time we went it was for my birthday. It was my husband's first time trying Ethiopian cuisine and we both loved it. The honey wine was also delicious. The second time I went was with several classmates and it was again the best food. Some of them had not had Ethiopian food before and everyone liked it. I would highly recommend this place above some of the more popular well-frequented locations. This is more of an authentic experience. And FYI, injera as a leftover is quite good with fried eggs, onions, and peppers the next morning!

Merid Kebede: Very friendly and great Tibbs. I meet great people.they have all you can eat (lunch) weekdays. Serve beer wine and sprite with fair price. Love it. I will go to this place again. The manager (I think he is the owner) great guy.go & check it out. U will love it.

awol Fedlu: Excellent customer service with Ethiopian indigenous habsha cloths and making clothes according to customer size also we have Ethiopian food items, spices, delicious.”shinte”for Tibse and amazing raw meat(kurte)and kitfo meat fair and affordable price I will recomend every body to visits this wonderful market.

Shewa Ethiopian Carry Out: what do users think?

citygirldc: Ordered delivery because I was craving Ethiopian food. Hadn't had any since before the pandemic. The veggie combo was delicious!! So much food for a great price and packaged perfectly. Came with a lentil sambusa and lots of injera. Highly recommend. Will be ordering again soon.

Anastasia Abbruscato: This place is so quaint and wonderful! Food is delicious and service is excellent! Place is clean and not too busy! We had the Tibs Lega and the Meat Combo! 👨🏻‍🍳💋

c banks: The food is VERY delicious! Today is my second time ordering this week. The woman who served me (I believe), the owner is very sweet. The food is filling (as she warned me) lol. I ordered the veggie platter on both occasions. The service and food is great- 5 stars! The only thing I do dislike (out of her control) is the area. There are frequent loiters outside near the restaurants building. I recieved a lot of constant and burdensome chatter coming from the men who were outside; & that was quite annoying (while heading inside to order my food and leaving out). Again, out of her control..

Rochelle: Just discovered this place after growing tired of my regular Ethiopian spot near me. The food here is GREAT. A lot more flavor, larger portions, and just better overall. Will definitely be ordering here more often!

Arthur Sidney: The Ethiopian food here is fresh and flavorful. The portions are great and the service is friendly. This is my second time patronizing this establishment and I’ve not been disappointed yet. If you like spicy food, they will make your dishes with extra kick. Delicious!

Onyi O.: This place is great. Owner is kind, huge portions (especially compared to other pricier spots). I got the veggie platter and it was bomb!

Shasun Sulur: The service is great! I am always welcomed and treated like family. I have only tried their vegetarian platter but it never disappoints! The food is always fresh, flavorful, and served in large quantities for a reasonable price! Its my favorite neighborhood spot!

Jonathan Patterson: Delicious, authentic Ethiopian food... Very friendly owners, and reasonable prices. It's a bit of a rough area. There was a girl who seemed to be suffering some mental illness in addition to being drunk who targeted me to harass & threaten! The owner had to come chase her away several times. Despite that but of extra entertainment, I'll definitely be going back here for more Ethiopian food!

Antonio Burkett: Def a hidden gem; their Ethiopian food is amazing! The Ethiopian special - even though they serve American food, that's all I get - comes with ample portions and they don't charge a lot. You can definitely make two meals out of the special. Compared to other Ethiopian joints, this spot gives WAAYYY more than the average..and if you've been to several, you know what average looks like. I'm attaching pics of the food (but they don't really do the spot justice) and menu since I could never find one when I was searching online. (Let me know if it helps!) Long as they are around and I'm in the area, I'll be a returning customer for life.

Daniel Davis: I loved my Veggie Combo 😊

Enjera Restaurant: what do users think?

Eean Levin: We cannot say enough good things About our feast at this restaurant. Neither of us had ever had this type of cuisine before and left absolute lovers of Ethiopian cuisine. We loved it so much we intend to find it back in Arizona and a and learn to make it ourselves. Do yourself a favor and just go, you will not be disappointed.

Adriana Rakshana: Really great portion sizes and incredible flavors! Great place to get your Ethiopian food kick! We had the meat lovers combo for 2 and were able to share it between 3 people! Also got the lentil sambusa (comes w 2 pieces per order). As you can see in the pictures, we left the plate completely clean.

Lynisha Smith: First time at this restaurant and eating Ethiopian food. I was certainly hungry and I eat mostly meat. The waitress recommended the meat lovers to include her favorite dish as well. This dish was sooooo delicious. I ate the whole platter!!!! There was a small salad and egg which was great!

Malachi Lohman (Looomein): I've never had Ethiopian food before, and this really exceeded my expectations. The restaurant was busy and a little crowded, and the wait for food seemed a bit longer than I thought but we were a party of six so like I can't deduct any points from them for that. Besides, they sat us quickly and were very friendly. The food though is really where they shined. Perfectly portioned, excellently seasoned and just the right amount of spicy. Plus the bread was something I've never experienced before. Truly a new and Wonderful experience I'll never forget!

Zach Danz: We had the most INCREDIBLE experience here! I couldn’t get enough. The only criticism I have of this place is that the food is so good, and there’s so much of it, that it’s almost impossible NOT to end up in a food coma! For real though, if you’ve never had Ethiopian food, give it a try. Enjera is also very reasonably priced.

Samson Williams: The Derek tips are elite! Flew into DCA and would typically go to Zenebek in Adams Morgan. But instead, risked it and picked a new place, Enjera. What a beautiful risk. The Salad was actually the sleeper item. Not expecting much from salad whatever dressing they use in it is ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. Followed by the red lentils, green beans and then cabbage. Everything was exceptionally tasty. Will make this part of my DCA airport tradition.

Peter Shaw: First time having Ethiopian food and the staff was very helpful in introducing things to try. The platters were very good, but to be completely honest inerja might not be my cup of tea. Doesn't take away from the deliciousness of the food, and good service, just my personal preference.

Tom P: I hadn't had Ethiopian for probably 10+ years, and didn't care for it when I tried it previously. A date talked me into trying Enjera, and I'm so happy I did. We tried the meat and vegetarian combo, it came with two different types of lentils, greens, mixed veggies, cabbage, salad, tree different kinds of beef, and chicken. Wow, so good. The food is definitely spicy, but not burn your mouth spicy, just very very flavorful. The service was good, the restaurant was clean, and the prices were reasonable. Currently they are including 20% gratuity on all checks, likely because of Covid. There is parking in the lot behind the restaurant.

Erick Liu: Can’t miss an opportunity to have Ethiopian cuisine! If you’re unsure what to get, I’d definitely go for the veggie or meat lovers combos. You get a variety of different stews. Large portions, the combos for two can feed three.

Aks S: We went for dinner a bit later at night, and the place was still busy! We were quickly seated by the server. As we had not had Ethiopian food in a really long time, our servee helped us pick items from the menu. We got the meat combo. The food was so delicious, the flatbread was so good, sour and soft at the same time. It worked really well with the meat flavours. Huge portions!!

Bete Ethiopian Cuisine & Cafe: what do users think?

Galen Oettel: Delicious food and friendly staff. Our waiter was very attentive. Entrees are ideal size to share with a date. The amount of injera bread that comes is generous, you won’t leave here hungry! Will definitely come back to support this local establishment.

Jason Zahn: Group of four having our first Ethiopian dining experience on a Saturday evening. Nice spring day and got a free parking spot right out front. We took one of their outdoor deck tables (not much to see other than a giant parking garage), and the water arrived instantly to give us paper menus (sorry apparently only took a picture of one side of the two) and took drink orders. He was very friendly, explained everything to us (nothing too exciting other than no utensils and eat using the bread), and checked in often to see what we needed. Drinks and food were quickly delivered (but no pressure to finish quickly). They had some local wine and bottles of Ethiopian beer. Food was beautifully presented, is more filling than you may initially expect (we had a container full of leftovers), great spices without being too heated, and a wide variety for communal sharing. We were all pleased and had a great dinner.

Alexis Egan: I really enjoy the Vegetarian Combo platter - it is my "go to" when ordering from here. I typically order take-away from Bete. Earlier this week, my family and I wanted to eat in-person at Bete. While they weren't set up to do outdoor dining, the cook/chef was very accommodating and kind, offering to set up outdoor setting just for us. We ended up ordering take-away instead (which was delicious), but I was really amazed at how kind and considerate the staff were there. I highly recommend eating at/from Bete!

BCKproductions: First off, I've been eating Ethiopian food since childhood, and the food here is quite honestly second to none this side of the Mississippi LOL. Great authentic flavors, eye popping spices (if you want), and great service to top it all off. Very cozy and hospitable. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!

Jorge Pacheco Santiago: Great food and great flavors. The chef even came out and asked how the food was. Wish they had more drink/juice choices but it didn’t affect the review at all. Would highly recommend!

Josh Davis: A cozy spot with a low-key atmosphere, and still conveniently located in downtown Silver Spring. The food was good and competed well with the other Ethiopian restaurants in the area that I've been to.

meskerem taddesse: Amazing service food was perfect. I highly recommended this place for anyone looking for an authentic Ethiopian food experience. Hands down the best yet in DMV area

Titus Brown: 20 minutes waiting for a pickup order along with a Popeyes order on DoorDash? No thanks. Their food should’ve been done by now. If it was a under 10 or 5 minutes of wait time for their food to be picked up, that would be reasonable. Plus I had to wait 4 minutes to wait for somebody to come to the register. How incompetent plus the wait time. Thank god I canceled the pickup order and moved on with the Popeyes order. I was using DoorDash by the way.

Rhitajit Sarkar: Have been to this place many times, now taking pickups. No wonder this simple family-run place has been featured in the Washington Post, although taking a beating due to current covid-19 situation. The humble hosts and the cooks are gems of this place. The tibs and kitfo are a must for meat lovers. There is a variety of veggies option as well. Truly served with love and care. I absolutely love it.

Dawn Horton: The vegetarian platter was delicious and came out very quickly. Everything was flavorful and anyone could handle the spice level
