Alexandra Dittmer: I have been using DC Dog Sitter to care for my Olive while I am away at work and I am SO HAPPY I CHOSE THEM!! They send the cutest pictures of Olive having tons of fun with them on her walk with messages about their time together!! They also make sure to follow all of my special requests which makes me feel Olive is very safe with them! They are also super kind and accommodating of my requests! They also sent the most adorable Christmas package for Olive and I with the cutest ornament of Olive!! DC Dog Sitter is a must have if you’re looking for reliable and loving pet care!!!

Mary Thompson: The best Pet Sitters on the East Coast!! Our dog jumps for joy when she sees the DCDS Team and heads out the door with barely a look back. If you can get over the feeling that your dog might prefer to be more with the DCDS Team than her own family - all is great! Here is a recent photo from her DCDS vacation while we were away. The team is awesome about keeping us up to date as well as providing great adventures. Jenn is also a wealth of information for nutritional tips and reducing your pets overall toxic exposure.

M. Mattison: I wish I could leave 10 stars. DCDS is bar none the best dog sitting service out there. What sets Jenn and company apart from everyone else is how much they cater to both you and your pet. Jenn and company are prompt and responsive with communication, and if you are pressed for time will pick up your pet and drop them off at the beginning and end of each stay. Each member of this group LOVES animals. They cater to any particular pet diets, provide specific home remedies for any pet ailments, and make sure that each stay is a pampered vacation for your pet. However, what truly impressed me about Jenn was how she worked with me when a family emergency extended my five-day puppy sitting in to five weeks. Jenn fed my baby on her own dime *not charging me*, took my little girl to extra puppy play dates, checked in with me to see how I was handling everything and was thoughtful and compassionate when I was completely stressing out. I can’t articulate enough how wonderful everyone was, going so far as to pick me up from the airport and leave me and my Scarlett a little goodie basket when I got home. I’ve used DCDS several times and don’t trust my fur baby with anyone else. If you are looking for a fantastic and loving group of people to take amazing care of your furry one, DCDS is it.

david hoag: We used DC Dog Sitter to take care of our cats while we were gone on vacation for a week. They were great! Very communicative, as they would send messages when they were on their way to our place, and then again after they had been there, providing alot of detail and photos of what they did while they were there. They took great care of our pets, and it gave us great peace of mind as we we away, that our pets were getting attention and well cared for. They followed our instructions to a T, including watering the plants as well as all the cat-related stuff, and they took pictures of the cleaned litter box, their food, and of course our cats during their visit. Very happy with this service in our first time using them.

Erin Matson: DC Dog Sitter is such a great small business! When we adopted our small terrier mix dog a year ago, she was nervous around new people and new dogs. The team at DCDS met her where she was at - taking the time to slowly introduce her to her walker and to other pups. Since lockdown, we’ve been sending our dog on Adventures with DCDS, and it’s been by far the best thing that happened to her. She has blossomed. She cannot wait every week for the DCDS team to pick her up and whisk her away for a few hours of awesome adventure. The staff are responsive - weekends, late nights, whenever we have a question or need to reschedule. DCDS has helped bring our dog out of her shell! Thank you to the DCDS team!

Jillian Campbell: Jenn and her entire team have been wonderful with our dog. They walk him every day during the week when we are at work and he goes on "adventures" on Thursdays. The adventures often consist of hikes, trips to local parks, and over the Summer lots of swimming. We also use DC Dog Sitter for sitting when we go away. Our dog has some special needs, but DC Dog sitter has been exceptionally accommodating and understanding. They are extremely reliable and I love getting numerous messages/pictures throughout the day on what he is up to. All of the dog walkers have been great and we have not had any issues. Jenn is great about communicating with us and is so knowledgeable about dog health and diet. She has been a great resource for us and has always gone above-and-beyond to answer any of our questions. I know my dog is safe and happy when he is in the care of DC Dog Sitter. I cannot give them higher praise.

Bruno Carvalho: Gus and his amazing staff have been petsitting our three cats for over four years now, taking care of all of their food, water, and cat litter needs- as well as making time to play and interact with them during their visits. Signing up for the service was easy- after a quick house visit with Gus, the owner, we exchanged keys, and from that point on, were easily able to book an appointment on their website. In addition, once the appointment was set and we were away from our home, Gus and our assigned sitters were extremely responsive to any questions or concerns we had, and were more than happy to send us daily photos and videos of our cats or to accommodate last minute requests or detailed instructions. Whether we were away from our home for a 1 day getaway or a 10 day vacation, it was extremely comforting to know that our cats were well cared for, interacted with, and and well taken care of. I would highly recommend this company for anyone looking for an affordable, responsive, and well-organized pet sitter!

Joanna Ong: Great experience with Guadalupe! I hired her to walk my fearful reactive dog who avoided strangers to the point of paralysis. The goal was to get my dog to a point where housesitting when I travel for work could be possible. Within two weeks of daily walks, Guadalupe was able to retrieve and walk my dog on solo walks without me.
Shelley Thompson: We love Tails of the City! They are affordable and we get the best pics and updates from our dog walker (and portrait mode glamour shots!). Our shy girl has come out of her shell so much through her weekly walks with a group of other dogs through Tails of the City and has learned to play with other dogs at the dog park (previously she would just hang with the humans)! They are incredibly responsive in terms of scheduling and have a very easy client portal.

Also, I like that Fetch gives you options as far as number of visits per day and length of visits. Additionally, Matt communicated very well with me during the assignment.

Our small dog loves everyone there—human and dog—and the staff engage warmly, playfully, and attentively with her and all of the dogs. Our dog has been through the Day Care 101 program and now regularly attends Doggie Montessori School; she also goes to Patrick’s for grooming and some additional training. I can’t imagine sending our dog anywhere else—Patrick’s is just wonderful.

Julie Rush: My husband and I recently moved to the Navy Yard area with our 2 cats. We travel frequently, and finding someone new to care for them was a huge stress for us. We selected Saving Grace because of their reviews, and we have not been disappointed. We have used them on three separate occasions, and all three times, Paul Weiss was the caregiver. He leaves daily notes and will send photos if requested. Our most recent trip was two weeks long, and he watered our plants and freshened the litter box. We are so very happy with their service and highly recommend Saving Grace.

Melinda Krakow: We have had wonderful experiences with Saving Grace dogwalking and boarding services. Our dogwalker, Selena, is the best! She is very reliable and leaves us notes each day to let us know how the walk was. She was especially wonderful in working with us on special requests when our senior dog was quite ill. We now have a young dog and she is very patient as he learns his puppy manners! Saving Grace has also been a great service for pet-sitting, even over longer holiday trips! Our pets have always been very well-cared for with SG services! Highly recommend if you have pets in the Capitol Hill area!

Alyse Mineroff: I brought my nervous Samoyed in for grooming and was thrilled with the quality of the fear-free grooming program they have at Patrick’s. They took all of the steps at my dog’s pace and made her feel comfortable along the way. My dog’s comfort was my top priority and they put lots of effort into making sure this was a positive experience for her. They provided me with a detailed report of how they did each step and how she felt about each part of the process. We will definitely be back!

Katt Aubry: Pluto absolutely adores Patrick’s Pet Care, and so do we! We have gone a couple of times for their fear-free grooming, and Rebecca’s attention and care for Pluto has been wonderful. We had been in contact with Emma for a couple of months as we wanted Pluto to join the Montessori school when he turned 6 months. We just started taking Pluto for daycare and the experience has been amazing. He was welcomed for an assessment, and Emma asked us about any goals we had for Pluto. She informed us that we could watch through their cameras all day as Pluto played with the other pups and participated in enrichment activities with Patrick’s Pet Care staff. Emma gave us a call midday to give us an update on Pluto which is something we never get at any other places. After the day was through, Emma talked to us for a while about Pluto’s experience, and provided an extremely thorough and illuminating report card with absolutely adorable photos of Pluto having a great time all day. According to the report, he performed really well except for during the dogs’ structured downtime. Pluto had a hard time settling down, especially with no humans around to comfort him. No surprises there - it’s something we’ve wanted to work on with Pluto. As a result, Emma recommended that Pluto work with Joe at Daycare 101 before he joins the full daycare program. She helped us secure an appointment for that the very next day, and Joe went right to work with activities to help Pluto become more accustomed to settling down when he’s by himself. When we went to pick up Pluto, Joe talked us through what they did, what worked, and he wants us to practice with Pluto at home. He also provided his own thorough report card and a video report, as well as some cute pics of Pluto in action. We anticipate that Pluto’ll probably need a few more weeks of 101 before he “graduates” to the full daycare class. We’ve been promised a graduation cap when he’s finally ready :) All in all, we are so thrilled to be working with Patrick’s Pet Care to give Pluto the enrichment, care, and training that he needs to be the best dog that he can be. We’re so excited to keep working with the entire Patrick’s Pet Care team. Thank you to everyone at Patrick’s who shower all the pups with so much love!

Angela Washington: Patrick’s is a leader in the DC community. I’ve been to the gamut of conventional doggie daycare places and they are the best. The truly individual attention my pup receives gives me peace of mind while at work. The personalized video report cards and photos at daycare also give me a chance to see just how joyous his day was. You can really tell that dog development is their passion. It comes through in the quality of service and great care they take with your dog family. So happy to have found them!

When we first moved back to DC, she spent a lot of time with us working with our nervous dog to befriend and calm her—now our dog’s tail starts wagging when she gets to go on walks! Magic takes both our dogs (a 10 year old and a 3 year old) on walks 2-3 days a week in NoMa, and they get to spend time with other furry friends (great for socializing). They love her and she clearly has a passion for animals. We highly recommend Dog Dot Cat.

When we moved from U Street to Park View, we were so happy that Greg and company could continue walking them. Every walker that we have worked with at Underdogs has been professional, punctual, responsive, and most important of all extremely loving toward our dogs! This is a small business that we are so proud to support. Throughout COVID, they have been steadfast. Nic Martinez: Lara was perfect in every way. My wife and I were leaving town to get married and would need someone to look after our cat for two weeks. We reached out to Lara through a referral from another cat-sitter and within a few days we were able to schedule a meet-and-greet to get to know each other and so Lara could meet our cat and get to know her special needs and quirks! Michele Johnson: My golden retriever Casey arrived at my house in June 2008 as a one-year old foster through a breed-specific rescue. I hired Lara to be his midday walker before he even arrived at my house! Casey passed away in June 2020. Through those twelve years, Lara was a constant in his life. Lara made sure he was well exercised, socialized, and most of all— loved. Lara gave great advice to maintain Casey’s health and general well-being. Lara also boarded Casey. Thanks to Lara’s care and consistency, Casey was a successful PAL dog, volunteering at the Armed Forces Retirement Home and a DC public library. I appreciated that she was able to match him with other dogs, to maximize his walking experience. Casey loved Lara as his special aunt. Highly recommend Lara!

Nam Duong: Patriotic Pet Care was great!! We used their services to take care of our Fur-baby Einstein during our wedding day as we wanted him to be a part of the wedding Festivities. Kim and Barbara were very accommodating to our needs and request. The initial meeting began with a consultation and explanation of how things worked and what to expect during the day of. Barbara was able to pick up Einstein from our home, bring him to the venue, and watch him while we took wedding pictures with him. She took care of him in between during our wedding related obligations, and continued to watch Einstein while he participated during the cocktail hour festivities. Afterwards, Barbara let us say goodbye to Einstein before she took him back to our home, not before waling him and making sure he was taken care of. Price-wise, they were very reasonable for the wedding services and looking after our dog. Would absolutely recommend Patriotic Pet Care if you’re looking to have your pet as part of your special day!

Macy Doverspike: Jonathan is the absolute best! Both of our rescue dogs instantly adored him. We adopted our newest rescue, 2 year old, Stanley in October after he came into the rescue as an abuse/neglect case. Although he is the sweetest boy, he suffers from severe separation anxiety and other behavioral issues as a result of his previous neglect. We are currently doing an extensive training program to help him overcome his anxiety and our trainer, Toni, recommended Jonathan for us so we could introduce another friend into Stanley’s life and also to give us a break. Jonathan has worked closely with Toni and even has an anxious dog of his own so he is very comfortable handling our anxious and also rambunctious boy. I am disabled and have an immunodeficiency so I have been isolating at home for the duration of COVID and Jonathan has been so understanding and takes all the precautions when he is here. He has given my husband and I some much needed relief and a break after a very hard first few months with our new baby boy. Stanley is not an easy case at all but Jonathan is great with him and is not phased by any of the extra work he requires. My 9 year old pit bull service dog, Addie, loves Jonathan so much that she mopes around when she knows he’s downstairs with her brother so Jonathan always makes sure to spend some special time with just her every time he’s here. If you want someone who will not only love your dog but also does an amazing job at understanding their unique needs and making sure they are all met, then Jonathan is the perfect dog sitter and walker for your fur babies too. We really cannot recommend him enough!

My dog absolutely adores them, and even though I only pay for dog walks, their walkers always make sure to give lots of love and attention to my cat too during every visit. I feel very comfortable with them coming to my house when I’m not home—way more so than I ever felt with Wag or Rover. They are a small, close-knit team, and as their successful company grew, if they ever had a new walker come on board to walk my pup (which wasn’t often, they were very consistent with my dog’s walker), I always had the opportunity to meet them first if I wanted. I really can’t recommend this company enough, I always feel safe knowing my kiddos are in great hands!!

AF Flem: Kim and Posh Pets took care of my two cats this week. Kim was good with my shy cats, knowing not to push too hard and letting them decide when they were ready to make friends. Posh Pets uses an app which notifies you when the sitter arrives. After each visit the sitter puts a report on the app detailing everything that happened on the visit, including photos. I also like the fact they are bonded and insured. I felt so comfortable knowing exactly what was going on. I will definitely use Posh Pets again in the future

City Dogs Daycare: what do users think?
Laura Vincent: I love bringing my dogs to citydogs for doggy daycare. They come home happy and dog tired. I love reading my daily report cards, so cute :) The staff are friendly with me and observant of my pups’ needs. For example, my dogs are in between a big dog and a small dog size. Ginsy is confident and can play with any sized dog, the David is beta and submits easily to bigger dogs, but they are bonded. One day, David wasn’t having as much fun in the big dog room. So, the staff moved them both to the small dog room to see if that was more enjoyable. It was! Since then, both my pups get the most out of their visits and are always excited to go back. The one downside is that the facility is indoors and the floors are tile. It’s inevitable their paws will be a little stinky when they get home. But you can’t blame city dogs for that! This is very common for doggy daycares in the city; It comes with the territory. I recommend using “Scrubby rinse free shampoo mittens” with oatmeal waterless shampoo or oatmeal wipes. It’s a great alternative to a full bath that will still get them clean. If it’s time for your dog to get a bath, city dogs has bathing services that are affordable. And they schedule the bath around when you will pick your pup up, so they are fresh and clean when you arrive.
MICHELLE MARSHALL: This is my first dog and her first grooming experience. I was very excited for her. However, when I got home to see her I cried. She looked horrible. All her beautiful fir on her face was gone. Her hair was frizzy, dry and wild. The cut looked very unfinished and uneven even though all we asked for was a trim. The groomer cut too close on her nose and created a cut/irritation. She’s been scratching at it ever since. Not to mention one of her paws is still sharp. I’m not only dissatisfied but I feel guilty for Putting her through this. I’ve wasted money before and can get over that but my baby is looking bad right now. I haven’t gone there to complain or argue…. Even though I’m angry and sad. What’s done is done. She will not be returning for a grooming experience. I’ve seen better work at petco. Natalie Bohnet: Positive: Reliability, ValueMy energetic beagle mix Pablo goes into City Dogs daycare very enthusiastically. He comes home tired & happy. Buying the pass makes it reasonably priced. I love the photos on the door welcoming the new dogs! Great place!

Haddassah Goldberg: I have been considering giving City Dogs a try because we recently moved to the neighborhood and they’re so close to my home, but I walked by this afternoon and they had their front door propped wide open. My dog is a runner, and I’m sure he’s not the only dog who would make a break for it if he made it to the lobby. I will be looking elsewhere because this left an awful taste in my mouth.
Response: Hi Haddassah, if your dog is a master at opening doors, we do appreciate that you haven’t brought him to try our services. We share and understand your concern for dog safety, but we do have mitigations in place on occasions where we’re bringing in some fresh air. Please come take a look inside sometime. We consider our dog customers and their human parents like family, and we appreciate the chance to talk through concerns with customers before posting a review. After our front door, 4 additional doors separate our play rooms from the outside. Our play areas are on the lower level and we have two doors in the stairwell and two doors on each playroom. We would never encourage a customer to bring their dog if it’s not a good environment for them, and we won’t hesitate to let you know. So please, come inside sometime and check it out for yourself sometime.
Jenelle Thomas: My furry kid’s first day was amazing! We felt so welcomed, especially seeing his personal ‘Welcome’ sign. The staff were patience, friendly and attentive, all the qualities my senior dog needs. I truly appreciated the video update of my pup- to see that he didn’t appear anxious and was very intrigued. I’m excited for my pup to join the City Dog family!

Alison Griner: Took my dog to daycare, inside is clean and they keep your dog on leash until past several doors. It was her first time there, so she received a free bath, an adorable framed photo, and a detailed report card. Felt very welcome by the staff including posting a welcome poster of her on the door!
Colleen Turner: Positive: ProfessionalismI send my dog to City Dogs H St for grooming. The staff is so friendly and takes great care of him. He comes home clean and in a good mood, which says A LOT for a dog who doesn’t love a bath!
Traycie Powell: Voltaire always has the best time with his City Dog friends. He is exhausted by the time he gets home...which shows me he had a blast! I love all the pictures and videos the staff send when requested. Great hours for those of us who work long days. 🐾5 PAWS 🐾
Megan Bailey: I brought my dog there for the first time and put in specific instructions regarding my dog being sensitive and to go slow. I also gave instructions when I dropped him off. When I picked him up I asked how it went and they said great! He was cut shorter than I preferred but that was fine. I get my dog into the car and he is absolutely terrified. He growled at me several times when I tried to touch his tail or feet which has not happened before. I am not sure what they did to my dog but I would never recommend this place. As an FYI I also emailed them and it has been over a week with no response about this.
