Patrick's Pet Care - Columbia Heights: what do users think?

Jessica Roberts: Posy absolutely loves Mini Mondays at Patrick's. As soon as we get anywhere near the building, she starts whining with excitement, and once through the front door, she doesn't look back at me once. Ian and Emma are such wonderful trainers with her and I can tell she's getting a ton of enrichment playing with other dogs and doing activities all day. I've already noticed a huge improvement in her sharing abilities and recall and can't recommend the Mini Mondays Montessori program highly enough for small dogs! It is the highlight of her week and I love seeing her so excited.
Response: Awww, thank you for the kind review, Jessica! We <3 Posy. She comes to class with such a wonderfully happy-go-lucky attitude and she is such a positive, welcoming influence on her classmates!

Sneha: Baloo just completed Patrick's Puppy Head Start Part One and Part Two with Nikita, and I can't say enough good things about it. The first day I dropped him off, he was shaking and clinging to me. The second time, and every time after that, he ran right in. He clearly loves going and absolutely adores Nikita. I don't know what we would have done without them, we were very overwhelmed when we enrolled Baloo in their program. It really gave us a structured plan to work on with him, and it's been amazing to see him improve from week to week. Nikita is a puppy whisperer. She helped us with every problematic behavior he had, and he's grown into a really good boy. There are still a few things we need to work on with him, so I won't say we've 100% solved everything....but he is miles ahead of most other dogs his age that I meet. He's polite, he comes when he's called (even in distracted environment ). He's good about checking in. He also has all his important commands down. They introduced it during Head Start, and we reinforced it at home. I find that with new commands, the hardest part is getting it to click, which Patrick's does amazingly. Concepts that take me multiple days to teach the puppy, Nikita manages to do in a few short hours. They've helped him become socialized to grooming, weird noises and different surfaces, all important in a city! He's also learned excellent play behavior with other dogs. Nikita does such a great job of monitoring the puppies and reinforcing positive, healthy behavior. I also loved the photos and report cards at the end of the day, so did Baloo. When Baloo hears Nikita's voice, he drops whatever he's doing to come over and look for her. Overall, such a positive experience. I find that you really get out of the program what you put into it! The more you work with the puppy out of hours and reach out to the instructors for help, the more progress you see. Highly recommend it!
Response: Thank you for the kind words, Sneha! We loved having Baloo in Puppy Head Start. His confidence grew leaps and bounds durning his 16 weeks with us, and we truly loved watching him learn! We miss Baloo—hope to see him again soon!

Seraphina Ferraro: I cannot begin to sing the praises of Patrick's loudly enough. I brought my 7 month old puppy, Emet, who is a Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier, to see them today for his first ever grooming appointment. They were so communicative during the appointment, including me in Zoom calls throughout the day and letting me know how he did on breaks. It was obvious from the video chats that they put a lot of effort into getting him comfortable and gaining his trust. He's already an outgoing little guy, but they were so patient with him and it showed in how happy he was in the videos. Their report card was incredibly thorough and really let me know how things went, and included bonus videos of him getting trimmed as well as photos of the process. It's clear that they really love dogs and love what they do. He came out looking great, and they laid the foundation for many more happy grooming appointments to come.

Simon Roberts: We are so happy with the service and attention that our Shih Tzu/Mini Poodle mix Rocco has been receiving that if I could give Patrick's 6 stars I would. Their attention to detail and general concern for every dog in their care is amazing from Ian with Mini Dog Mondays to Emma with small dog Montessori. Their reports are frankly more informative than anything I ever received for my kids and given our dog's separation anxiety, knowing exactly how Rocco is doing is very helpful. In addition, the webcams give us the option to check on Rocco throughout the day. Great organization.
Response: Thank you for such wonderful feedback, Simon. We love having Rocco with us and are so happy to hear you're finding the reports valuable!

Jack Zietman: I don’t have enough good to say about Patrick’s Pet Care. Our small dog loves everyone there—human and dog—and the staff engage warmly, playfully, and attentively with her and all of the dogs. Our dog has been through the Day Care 101 program and now regularly attends Doggie Montessori School; she also goes to Patrick’s for grooming and some additional training. I can’t imagine sending our dog anywhere else—Patrick’s is just wonderful.
Response: Thank you, Jack! It is always a joy working with your amazing, sweet Ella!

Susan Patterson: I've been sending my pup Georgia to Patrick's Pet Care Montessori School for two months now, and she is making great progress! Georgia's social skills definitely needed some improvement, and Emma (aka the Dog Whisperer of Columbia Heights!) has been amazing with her, helping her gain confidence and teaching her to play well with the other dogs. Georgia isn't even sad when I drop her off in the mornings any more - she runs right in to say hi to Emma and her new four-legged friends. Highly recommend!

Zoe Yousik: I already recommend Patrick's to everyone I encounter on my walks so making it more official here. Emma Teller first did an amazing job training and guiding my cautious puppy through the newly created Dog Daycare 101. Then in the regular daycare Emma continues training all the attendees. She does the most to make sure the dogs are playing in appropriate energy level play groups, learning new things, and getting constant attention. The end of day report cards are lovely. Getting a video of my puppy walking up stairs, and activity she had completely refused to do, was the highlight of my week! We do grooming at Patrick's as well and they do a great job while still keeping my puppy so excited to attend.
Response: Thank you, Zoe. We love Memo!

Daniele Wilson: I wholeheartedly recommend Patrick's Pet Care!! Hands down, Patrick's Pet Care is one of the best doggy daycares in DC. My dog has slight anxiety around larger dogs and would prefer to spend all day cuddling with humans, which doesn't make for a great time at most of the other daycares in DC. Patrick's Pet Care not only has a location specifically for smaller dogs but their enrichment activities are a sure fire way to make sure your pup comes home happy and exhausted. The entire team at Patrick's Pet Care is great, but Emma is by far the best. Emma takes great care of my dog and makes the best report card videos that I look forward to watching every single time. I'm so happy that I found Patrick's Pet Care!

Capree Houston: Patrick's Pet Care is 5 star! After researching various doggy daycare options, I decided to give Patrick's a try. It is one of the best decisions I've made for my 11 month old Frenchie! My pup is a very "spirited" dog who goes from 0 to 100 in an instant, and never meets a stranger. Emma has done a great job helping her to focus, learn how to regulate her excitement level, and learn how to play at appropriate levels. I love that Emma teaches her new things and has helped her meet her goals in such a short amount of time. Although I pass several doggy daycares on my way to Patrick's in Columbia Heights, I wouldn't take my dog anywhere else!

Michon Bunch: I am super grateful to Patrick's Pet Care especially Emma. My pup absolutely adores Emma and loves the Montessori School curriculum. During drop off, Kori jumps out of the car and runs and dances all the way to Patrick's front door! As soon as Emma greets us, Kori runs in not even looking back for me. At the end of the day, I always look forward to the detailed report card and pictures of Kori's exciting day. Don't look any further than Patrick's for all your pet care needs even the excellent fear free grooming. Signed, a very satisfied mama and pup.

District Dogs Shaw: what do users think?

Elvin Bruno Jr: Recently moved to DC and brought my 78 lb Goldendoodle, Fitzgerald, to District Dogs Shaw for a grooming, after doing research online. Was very impressed with Sara's work giving Fitz his last summer cut. He smelt and looked amazing! More recently boarded him at the Navy Yard location while I was out of town for the weekend and Fitz had a great time! It was a nice bonus to be able to watch him on the live cams. Will definitely use District Dogs again.
Response: Thank you so much, Elvin! We appreciate the positive feedback and we're so happy you enjoyed the cut you received. We can't wait for the next time we see Fitzgerald again!

Bailey Cage: I used district dogs for grooming my medium-size, rough-coat border collie. She got a bath with add-ons like a blueberry facial and a trim of her feathering. My sweet pup looked wonderful and seemed happy! They even had a cute welcome sign with our names on it. Everyone working there seemed kind and the groomer was knowledgeable and helpful. I felt like pricing was about average for DC, but I also felt like they did a better job than other groomers in the area that I’ve tried. Attempts to get a good photo were not very successful, but I’ll definitely be using them for grooming going forward.
Response: Thanks so much for sharing your positive experience, Bailey! We're looking forward to seeing you back for grooming in the future!

JayEm Monitz: We are thrilled to find a place where we can send our pup to daycare and boarding. We are still feeling this place out because there are pros and cons about District Dog Shaw for us. PROS: Front desk staff members are very friendly. The place is very clean. They always respond to my email and inquire in a timely manner. Great services with reasonable prices (especially in the city) Access to live videos You get a report card! CONS: Our pup had to take the observation exam in order to enroll in their daycare and boarding. They identified that he doesn't know his basic commands. They knew we (the deaf owners) and they could have asked us about his basic commands because I don't think they realized our pup responds to visual cues better. Our first time bringing our pup to their daycare. We did not have the best impression (not exactly a warm greeting from the manager). As soon as I went inside, my dog was hesitated and unsure what was going on. She rushed to grab him but his collar fell off. She just grabbed him and rushed him to the daycare room rather than greeted herself showing everything would be okay as a first time user. I do not appreciate this at all because we follow the "Fear Free" philosophy/training. I just hope the next time I bring him in, he will feel more comfortable going in without being grabbed/rushed. Even though, I truly believe it was not her intention. We plan to use their boarding for a last minute or short stay ONLY because I am not a big fan of their boarding. They don't have an outdoor space for dogs and charge you for a 20 minute walk. Every dog needs some outside air daily rather than stuck in one same room all day. We've found a boarding place right outside of DC that is a better fit for our pup. We plan to use the other boarding facility outside of DC for long term stays such as one week or longer.
Response: Thank you so much for sharing your experience, JayEm - I'm so sorry that we aren't the right fit for Ahava. I did notate in her file that she does not know spoken commands because her family is Deaf and she responds to hand signals, and we did not know that prior to her evaluation. I apologize that it seemed she was handled without care - I will be speaking to our staff about moving gently and intentionally to welcome our new pups without fear; this is a philosophy we believe in, so it's important a positive experience begins at our front door. Regarding our lack of outdoor space, I wish that that was something we could improve! Unfortunately, this is due to DC zoning regulations and not a choice we made; if it were up to us, every one of our facilities would feature outdoor play space! We also believe every dog should get some outside time, but we do have to charge for services such as these so we can continue paying our staff the wages they deserve for caring for our clients pups. If there is every anything else you would like to discuss that we could do for you in the future, please let us know and we will be very happy to help however we can.

Amanda Pearson: District Dogs Shaw always does a great job! They follow any instructions you give and are very thorough. The grooming itself is pretty quick, unlike some other places where you have to drop off in the morning and wait all day. My dog is usually done in 2 hours. You can also select add-ons; I usually add teeth brushing. They send a cute little report card at the end of the day. It's not cheap, but prices are comparable to other places in the city and they do a really good job. We'll keep coming back!
Response: Thank you so much, Amanda, I'm so happy we were able to wow you!

Lyssa McEachern: The groomer Shake turns my doodle Scout into a masterpiece! Her scissor work is amazing and she truly loves and cares for every dog she grooms. Carissa is an amazing trainer and I would be lost without her teachings from adult basics with my dog Boo! The staff here - Jill, Connie, Elvis, and Paige - go above and beyond and love all the daycare pups!
Response: Thank you!

Scott Oslick: There aren’t enough superlatives in the dictionary to adequately convey how much my Australian Labradoodle Winston and I love District Dogs, Shaw. I’ve been taking Winston to day care at the Shaw location 3 - 4 days a week since it first opened. He was a puppy at the time and now he’s 2 years old. He’s always excited to go in and play with his friends, and he LOVES the special attention from all of his human friends who keep the facility running smoothly and clean. Winston gets super excited as soon as he’s within two blocks of the building! That tells me all I need to know! I also highly recommend the boarding and grooming services at Shaw. Top notch and I get so many compliments on his haircuts! District Dogs, Shaw treats us like family and we feel the same about them!
Response: Thank you so much, Scott! We love, love, love having you and Winston in our DD family, and having him in daycare always lights up the staff's days! We love keeping him happy, refreshed, and handsome, and we can't imagine being District Dogs without you both!

M Wil: Positive: Professionalism, Quality, ReliabilityDistrict Dogs Shaw does a great job with dog care. Their staff are friendly and accommodating, and they treat each dog like a valued guest! They also offer haircut and other services that are awesome. Shake has given my dog perfect cuts on several occasions. I highly recommend this business!
Response: Thank you so much for the feedback, Martin! We love getting to see Charlie and we agree, Shake always makes him look like the most handsome pup. We can't wait to see him again soon!

Talia Orencel: Shake is the best groomer in town! She always does the best job with our sheepadoodle. We like to give our dog the ultimate treatment whenever we go, and Shake is so good with her! She comes back so happy and energetic. I love that they put bows in her hair too! Best experience with the grooming! I personally didn’t love the boarding, but that is because I don’t love that they up charge for outside time. I think all dogs should get some outside air at least once a day rather than be cooped up inside. That just isn’t the best vibe for my puppy. However, the service at DD is great, just not my style or preference of boarding, and a bit expensive. Still I think this place deserves 5 stars!! We love DD grooming!!
Response: Thank you so much for your feedback, Talia, we agree - we love Shake, too! As for daycare, local zoning restrictions unfortunately make it very difficult for any dog daycare centers - not just us! - to have outdoor play space. We make up for that with our extremely high quality HVAC system that's always pumping in fresh air, as well as the opportunity for clients to add on Outdoor Breaks to their dogs' stays. We're hoping to add outdoor play areas to future DD facilities and doing all we can to make that a reality. As for grooming, I am so happy you're impressed, and we can't wait to see your pup again for a Spa Day!

Adam Toal: Amazing. My dog Frank is anxious and has been in a few homes prior to mine. He generally does not like humans other than my wife and I. District Dog was amazing, I think I was more nervous than he was. He had a fantastic time and had a huge grin on his face in his pictures. I am beginning to think he'd rather be there than home? I'll be bringing him back for just some random play dates since he enjoyed it so much.
Response: Thank you so much, Adam! We LOVED getting to know Frank and we're so happy we can be a happy, safe space for him. We're looking forward to seeing your big guy again soon!

Darcy R. Jackson: This was our first time coming to District Dogs Shaw, and we are so happy with our experience! Jillian fit us in last minute when we needed a place for our German Shepherd to stay the night and we are so thankful she did! Our dog came home happy as could be and smelling amazing after a nice bath. The report cards they send are so fun to read and we loved getting pictures of our girl while we were away! From beginning to end we were treated extremely well, my dog had a blast, and I would happily recommend this establishment to anyone and everyone. We will definitely be coming back again soon!!
Response: Thank you so much for sharing your experience with us, Darcy! We loved seeing Miss Daisy for boarding and we can't wait to see her again the next time you visit the District!

Dogtopia of Downtown D.C.: what do users think?

Paterson Wolfgram: I just want to give a shout out to the employees that work the front desk. I haven’t met the manager in person but the employees are out of this world amazing. I had someone steal my house key so I had to drop my babies off for an emergency boarding and day care and the staff made me feel so comfortable and at ease. They are able to feed them, give them probiotics, and snuggle them while I deal with our home situation. I hope the manager has a good heart and pays these people well

K F Hemmer: My dog was supposed to be ready by 4pm from the spa, after being at daycare. He wasn't. I was told that it was due to a person training. When my dog was "ready" at 4:30, he was soaking wet, not brushed or dried, and not very clean (ears VERY dirty). I had to rewash him upon getting home. This is not the first time this has happened. I also requested a detailed invoice be emailed to me. I ALWAYS ask this. I NEVER get a detailed invoice. I prepaid to get a deal on services and also had a credit for when my dog had to go to the vet because of injuries sustained at this location. My balance is almost expired, so I will never use your services again. P.S. The Dogtopia in Alexandria is fantastic. We miss the great service they always gave, but now live too far to frequent.

Caroline Jones: I don’t usually write reviews but want to help others looking for a daycare place for their pups since it can be hard to figure out — our experience with Dogtopia after just 2 days of daycare has been great. They asked lots of questions about my young puppy and introduced him gently to the crates/play room/other dogs. The staff were clearly excited to meet him and seem really invested in all their clients. The rooms have windows and a bit more space and the staff walk around the room constantly, engaging with the dogs as needed — all of these things have not necessarily been the case at other places, so I really appreciate these features. They also texted me a picture and update about my puppy when I asked how his first day went, which was awesome. Their pricing and location are good, too.

Flavia Milano: People working at Dogtopia Downtown DC are very, very nice. I trust they take a good care of our beloved doggie.

Jimmy Moore: I went to Wagtime frequently before the pandemic. My dog loved it. But the customer service under new management is extremely poor. My dog grooming appointments have been canceled multiple times in a row on several different occasions. Often I don’t find out it’s canceled until after I have arrived, and I am never offered any compensation or perks for the trouble and inconvenience. The haircuts also vary wildly from one appointment to the next, even with the very same instructions. The staff at the front desk are usually complaining about their job or seem annoyed to be there (with a couple of exceptions). It makes me sad to write this, both because my dog loved this place and because it is the most convenient place to my house. I will not be coming back.

courtney mims: We love Dogtopia and are so happy that DC has a location in downtown. The workers are really nice. The price is good and the camera feature is the best part. We love to watch them play with friends all day.

Amanda Blake: Wow, Dogtopia is a life-saver! I love that I can watch my pup 24/7 on the live camera to see how she's doing. She always looks like she's having the time of her life, and it really gives me peace of mind. I also love seeing that there is a live human in the room with the dogs to give them some attention and monitor the situation. All the staff members are wonderful, and everyone I've met has been so friendly and obviously a dog-lover. I also like the ease of booking with the website and mobile app. Dogtopia is simply the best!

emeline renz: Amazing! While visiting DC I was able to confidently leave my pups here while I toured the sights. Thorough meet n greet, then web cams to check in on their progress throughout the day. My older dogs were pretty well suited to the room they were assigned. There are several options and levels of activity. Every dog that entered while I was there was absolutely stoked to be there. One was hesitant at first, then saw their favorite coach and brightened right up. That's always a great sign!

A A: Made a reservation to board a dog during the day - got it confirmed - only to be told when I showed with my puppy that they had no record of a reservation. Faced with a whole day of activites booked at museums and other non-dog sites, Dogtopia offered no alternative: staffer responded with "we re only human" . Obviously they gave my reservation to somebody else: very swampy thing to do. Fortunately I learned DistrictDogs was close by and saved the day

Marcie Farmer: My puppy loves this place. She's always so excited when we walk up to the door

Happy Paws LLC: what do users think?

Martha Johnson: I really appreciated being able to leave my daughters Westie at Happy Paws while I was dog sitting for a few days and also needed to go to work. The owner, Stefanie, set up a time when I could bring Max by to see how he would do and after observing him with the other dogs for a few minutes, she let him stay for the day. Max has not had a lot of interaction with other dogs and after a few days at Happy Paws, he seems much calmer and well behaved. Stefanie offered several training tips which have been extremely helpful. She even let me bring him at the last minute when I needed to extend my dog sitting commitment - my daughter was in labor and was delighted to be able to watch Max being so well cared for on the live stream camera, which helped take her mind off things! Thank you Stefanie, Devin and the entire Happy Paws team for helping us get through a difficult week and for giving Max such good attention! He’s doing great with the new baby, btw.

Leah Getsinger: Stefanie and the entire crew at Happy Paws take the absolute best care of my pup who has terrible separation anxiety and can’t be left alone for long periods of time. They provide a safe, local option and always do their best to accommodate last minute requests. It’s not cheap, but you definitely get what you pay for in terms of quality with this spot. Great extended hours drop off and pick up options, with various package deals so you get the most bang for your buck. Highly recommend!!
Response: Thank you! Everyone at Happy Paws loves Watson.

Margo Judge: I have always taken my cues from my dogs. I’ve had 4. All very big. All different personalities. My current love is 118lb Yogi who is the neighborhood therapy dog. He just makes everyone feel better. When I first took him to Happy Paws, ( he has boarded where he was born, and where they spend the day outside, so he’s used to being around other dogs) it was to see how HE would take to being in a a smaller indoor space around lots of dogs. Long story short—he let me know! He loved the people and he had a lot of fun with puppies and larger dogs. He’s also very Zen, so this works for him. Not all dogs will feel the same way, so it certainly depends on your dog. Having said that, the staff is very conscientious and warm. What I like most is that you can watch your pooch whenever on the CAM. And any concern you have, they are there to address. Happy Paws takes great care to keep their space very clean. As much as Yogi would lay at my feet while I work, the stimulation he gets from being and moving around other Paws is invaluable for his mental, emotional and physical health. Dogs are just like humans. They need connection. Positive connection. Happy Paws has done that big time for Yogi. The rest of the time you can find Yogi outside Starbucks on Livingston Street NW, giving hugs to other humans who really need to connect at this time. So—I give 5 Stars to Happy Paws, knowing full well that it is expensive. But my dog is in a happy, loving and safe environment and that is priceless to me— Thank you Happy Paws for being Yogi’s happy place especially in the heat, this summer! Margo Judge Young Adult Life Coach
Response: Thank you for bringing Yogi. The truth is we should be paying him to come. He has become our official ambassador to all new shy dogs because of his gentle yet playful demeanor. We are so lucky to have him as a guest at Happy Paws.

C Calkins: We have taken our dog to Happy Paws for over 10 years for mostly day care but also, occasionally, for boarding and recommend them highly. The management and staff work tirelessly to provide a safe, clean, and bright environment for the dogs in their care and are very understanding about accommodating reasonable individual pet needs. When checking in on the camera, I often see the staff sharing affectionate interaction with the dogs in their care. Also, the team members are very courteous and caring with their pet parent clients.

Carly Smith: Me and my dog couldn't be happier with Happy Paws. They let me bring my new rescue dog for free MANY times prior to boarding just to make sure she was 100% comfortable with being left there. The staff are incredibly accommodating, attentive, and caring and run a very clean and efficient operation. The web cam is a really nice touch for when you want to check in on your dog.

Monika: I called Happy Paws LLC on Sunday 12/20 asking if I can set an appointment ASAP for a temperament test for my dog as I was looking to board him for a couple days during Christmas holiday. I was told that only managers can set up appointments and they only work Monday - Friday and that someone would call me first thing Monday morning. I waited 3 days and have not received a single call. Luckily I was able to find another facility who was responsive and followed up with me. Happy Paws definitely seems unprofessional with a lack of communication with new clients.

Sarah Jones: I am REALLY stunned by the negative reviews of Happy Paws, as I have had nothing but positive experiences. I've been taking my dog there since he was 15 weeks old. He was injured at 7 weeks and lost vision in his one eye. The staff have been really good about making sure he gets his drops. I can tell that the experience has had a really positive influence in his life as it gives him a bit of structure when I am not home, it has taught him how to interact with other dogs appropriately, and he is really minding his manners. Of course I'd love to say my pup is exceptional, but honestly I know that Happy Paws has something to do with that. I should also say, I LOVE that I can hop online and check in to see how he is doing via the PuppyCam. It is fun to see him romping and playing and generally enjoying himself. The staff is always quick to clean up messes, and they are really good with him. I have tried other places in the area, but Happy Paws is, by far, our favorite.

Michele Lurie: I discovered Happy Paws 6 months ago and I have loved this place since i first stepped in. The care, knowledge, positive energy and love given to our dog Milo has been inspiring and so comforting. Milo plays and socializes non stop all afternoon and comes home happy, healthy and ready to rest. Stephanie the owner and her amazing team Devin, Eric...to name a few, have truly been a life saver for me. Happy paws is so clean and they are so caring and also very flexible. I am so grateful that my puppy Milo and my family have them in our life. I would recommend happy paws to anyone looking for doggie daycare. Thank you Stephanie !!

K Johnson: My observations are from watching the live feed on the Web cam randomly over a week and then visiting with our pup to see if Happy Paws would be a good fit for boarding. We were not allowed to see the space because of a construction project. It appears the dogs are just put in an empty room and left to themselves. The only people I saw in the room at any time were men with mops who clean up after the dogs pee and poop in the place where they apparently are supposed to play and sleep, too. They were not interacting with the dogs, tho. Any time a person enters the space, the dogs all go a little nuts for attention. It struck me as sad. We were told there were too many dogs to put out any toys. Unclear what happens if two dogs go sideways with each other. I wondered how quickly anyone would intervene. The boarding fee does not include even one daily walk. Despite the very cheerful and polished Web site, it was a little bit like jail for dogs. We'd rather cancel our vacation than leave our pup there.

Janet Taylor: I have been taking my dogs to Happy Paws for over 10 Years. They do a wonderful job. What is most impressive is that many of her employees stay year over year. I think that is a testament on not only how the owner treats the dogs, but the peeps who work for her

Patrick's Pet Care - Brookland: what do users think?

Mandy Dean: I really can't say enough to express how wonderful Patrick's Pet Care is. We've been taking our Miniature Schnauzer, Steven, here since October 2020 and have had nothing but phenomenal experiences in every aspect - in Day Care 101, the staff worked extremely hard to help Steven with his severe separation anxiety, and Joe (who is now the training/dog walking manager) went above and beyond to form a trusting relationship with Steven so he could learn and thrive. After several months of consistent training, Steven was able to go to Montessori School, where he continues to enthusiastically engage in every activity and playtime that is provided by Emma, Bradley, Hannah, and Melissa. We will be forever grateful to the staff at Patrick's for helping our boy overcome his anxiety and be the fun-loving, energetic little ball of happiness that he currently is!
Response: Thank you for sharing Steven with us, Mandy! He's doing fabulously in Montessori School and working hard at playing with the appropriate energy levels and making friends with his classmates. We think he's so charming and confident!

Susan Kim: Patrick's Pet Care is amazing! My rowdy hound mix, Henry Potato, has taken advantage of Patrick's many offerings, including Daycare 101, individual training with Joe, and regular enrichment walks with the crew (Dakota, Ricardo, and Jacob). Joe has worked with Henry on improving his playtime manners with other dogs, and his leash reactivity. I appreciate and admire their commitment to being up-to-date on the latest science on dog training and behavior, and that they take their commitment to force-free, positive reinforcement training seriously. Also, Henry absolutely adores the enrichment walks with the team. They make sure he has a wonderful time on their adventures exercising, sniffing, and playing games - the videos and photos are a highlight of my day (see photo). I would highly recommend Patrick's to anyone looking for training, walking, and daycare services for their dogs - your doggos will thank you!!
Response: Thank you, Susan! Henry Potato is an absolute delight, and we're so grateful you give us the opportunity to be transparent about his walks. He's a Cup Game pro!

Jeremy Brownlee: Patrick's Pet Care has really helped 8-year-old Eugene come out of his shell. He came to us extremely anxious and jumpy. Since August 2021, through Daycare 101, the Dog Montessori School, and one-on-one trainings with Joe (who is amazing!), Eugene has gained his confidence to more happily interact with us, other people, and other dogs. We have been really impressed with the care that the whole Patrick's team has taken with helping Eugene grow -- I truly don't know what we would do without Patrick's.
Response: Thank you for your kind words, Jeremy. It's our honor to have you and Eugene as a part of the Patrick's Pet Care family! Seeing him grow and matriculate into Dog Montessori School this past summer was so rewarding. We're so proud of both of your hard work!

Alyse Mineroff: I brought my nervous Samoyed in for grooming and was thrilled with the quality of the fear-free grooming program they have at Patrick’s. They took all of the steps at my dog’s pace and made her feel comfortable along the way. My dog’s comfort was my top priority and they put lots of effort into making sure this was a positive experience for her. They provided me with a detailed report of how they did each step and how she felt about each part of the process. We will definitely be back!
Response: Thank you, Alyse! We're so glad to hear you and your gorgeous pup had a positive, comfortable experience. We can't wait to see you again!

Katt Aubry: Pluto absolutely adores Patrick’s Pet Care, and so do we! We have gone a couple of times for their fear-free grooming, and Rebecca’s attention and care for Pluto has been wonderful. We had been in contact with Emma for a couple of months as we wanted Pluto to join the Montessori school when he turned 6 months. We just started taking Pluto for daycare and the experience has been amazing. He was welcomed for an assessment, and Emma asked us about any goals we had for Pluto. She informed us that we could watch through their cameras all day as Pluto played with the other pups and participated in enrichment activities with Patrick’s Pet Care staff. Emma gave us a call midday to give us an update on Pluto which is something we never get at any other places. After the day was through, Emma talked to us for a while about Pluto’s experience, and provided an extremely thorough and illuminating report card with absolutely adorable photos of Pluto having a great time all day. According to the report, he performed really well except for during the dogs’ structured downtime. Pluto had a hard time settling down, especially with no humans around to comfort him. No surprises there - it’s something we’ve wanted to work on with Pluto. As a result, Emma recommended that Pluto work with Joe at Daycare 101 before he joins the full daycare program. She helped us secure an appointment for that the very next day, and Joe went right to work with activities to help Pluto become more accustomed to settling down when he’s by himself. When we went to pick up Pluto, Joe talked us through what they did, what worked, and he wants us to practice with Pluto at home. He also provided his own thorough report card and a video report, as well as some cute pics of Pluto in action. We anticipate that Pluto’ll probably need a few more weeks of 101 before he “graduates” to the full daycare class. We’ve been promised a graduation cap when he’s finally ready :) All in all, we are so thrilled to be working with Patrick’s Pet Care to give Pluto the enrichment, care, and training that he needs to be the best dog that he can be. We’re so excited to keep working with the entire Patrick’s Pet Care team. Thank you to everyone at Patrick’s who shower all the pups with so much love!
Response: Thank you for showing some of that love back, Katt! We love Pluto and are so happy to see him realize his full potential!

Angela Washington: Patrick’s is a leader in the DC community. I’ve been to the gamut of conventional doggie daycare places and they are the best. The truly individual attention my pup receives gives me peace of mind while at work. The personalized video report cards and photos at daycare also give me a chance to see just how joyous his day was. You can really tell that dog development is their passion. It comes through in the quality of service and great care they take with your dog family. So happy to have found them!
Response: Thank you, Angela – this is exactly what we are striving for and it's so great to hear! We love Diego <3

Meg Oates: Joe at Patrick's Pet Care is amazing! Patrick's Pet Care team is passionate, knowledgeable, and devoted--exactly who you want working with your dog. When we started working with Joe, our dog was afraid of the dark, ate the mail, and difficult to walk. Joe didn't just teach our dog new behaviors to address those issues, he taught me how to work better with my dog. Backed with the science behind positive dog training, Joe gave me tools to address my dog's behavior and manage challenging situations. Joe also helped customize plans for my needs like being able to walk the dog and push a stroller or getting my dog to find me upstairs when the mail comes so I can reinforce good behavior. As a result, my dog is more confident and affectionate, and I feel like a better dog parent.
Response: Oh my gosh, Meg – thank you for such kind words. We're so happy that we were able to help you and Val. It's been an absolute pleasure working with the two of you!

Katie Karp: We love the Patrick's Pet Care team! We have a anxious and fearful 2.5 yo bull terrier mix. The PPC team is always patient and accommodating with her- whether they are coming into our home for a walk, she goes to the PPC Brookland facility for fear-free grooming, or brings her best doggy friend with her to feel more comfortable during Enrichment 1:1 days! More than that, the PPC team is always excited to see her and take care of her as if she is their own. We wouldn't use anyone else and are so appreciative of the entire team! The webcams and report cards with pictures and video are also the best! We love to check in on her and see that she is so relaxed and having fun or snuggling with team members throughout the day!
Response: Thank you, Kathleen! We love having Moira around. Her gentle and trusting presence makes the grooming and teaching process so rewarding. Thank you for sharing her with us!

erin colleran: Our experience with Patrick's has been fantastic. The team at Patrick's has been working with our exuberant Whoodle, Bruce, since he was only 4 months old. We've enjoyed Puppy Class, one on one training with Nikita and Joe, Daycare 101, and fear free grooming. Bruce is now a regular at Montessori and rushes in each morning to enjoy his friends and the creative and fulfilling enrichment activities. Daycare 101 and one on one training with Joe has helped Bruce with some of his toughest challenges, including learning to rest in a safe space and leash reactivity. This has made our lives easier and, most importantly, made Bruce a more content dog. It has also been great to learn about the Fear Free training philosophy. I have never had a negative experience with any staff member at Patrick's and would recommend any and all of their services to any DC area pet owner.
Response: Thank you for such positive feedback, Erin! We truly love having Bruce and have really enjoyed helping him learn and grow over the past year!

Kei Tolliver: Our 1 year old pup has been going to Patrick's about 6 months now and we LOVE them so much. He is a regular at their Montessori School and also has done individual training and grooming service. Every single staff at Patrick is so wonderful, caring, kind, knowledgeable and genuinely LOVES what they do - our pup is always so excited to see them. We love the fact that they really pay attention to your dog's types/personalities and customize their approaches instead of forcing "this is the way" type of training. They encourage and celebrate positive behaviors and never punish "bad" ones. We love and appreciate their daily reports (much more personalized and detailed than the school reports we receive for our human child). We know our pup is in a great care and are so happy to have PPC in our neighborhood. Highly recommend!!
Response: Thank you, Kei! Cuddles is an absolute gem and we all love working with him!

Atlas Doghouse: what do users think?

Brittany McChesney: My dog Lou is an anxious boy who can’t handle kennels or crates, so Atlas came to our rescue. Fighting DC traffic is EASY knowing that Lou will be taken care of while I’m working. Not to mention, when I had a car break-in/emergency happen at home, Atlas accommodated the delays in me being able to pick Lou up on time. They were generous, understanding, and truly a source of calm for me on an otherwise very stressful day. I am grateful for them and they have earned a lifetime customer in me!

Adam Mason: Atlas Doghouse is a fantastic place for any size pup! For our young (>1 year) French bulldog it’s been a place to socialize and learn crucial dog skills that help at home. In addition, having Thomas the trainer out to help us be better dog parents and give our dog the proper information so he knows what we need from him was a huge help! Highly recommend the doghouse and getting training!

Jeff: My partner and I are new to the area and it was really important to us to find a place that can take care of our two big dogs as we are frequently out of town. We both have pretty high standards for doggy daycare, and Atlas has exceeded our expectations! The staff are so welcoming and friendly, and it’s clear they really care about each dog that comes in. They’ve gotten to know our dogs’ personalities and share stories about them when we pick them up. One of our dogs has allergies, and the staff are very attentive and always make sure he gets separate treats. Atlas also makes scheduling really easy through their app or by calling. Even though space is limited, they always try to accommodate us. Recently we traveled for Thanksgiving and had to board our dogs, and Atlas was full by the time we called. They put us on the waiting list and kept us constantly updated, knowing we were in a tight spot. Somehow, space opened up and they called us immediately and got us in. It really felt like they did everything they could to make sure our holiday went smoothly. And we were so thankful! Finally, Atlas does great with the space they have. They don’t use cages and the dogs have beds to rest in. Staff are always closely supervising the dogs. The dogs seem to have a great time in the indoor space. Our boys always come home happy and exhausted! In all, we couldn’t be happier we found Atlas here in DC. And a shout out to Stephanie, who always goes the extra mile to make our boys feel special!

Chad Nieboer: You can trust Atlas Doghouse with your pup and the guidance they give. I was on the brink of having to return my rescue and needed to board him until I could finalize the arrangements. A 30 minute conversation with the owner, Danny, and his counsel put me on the path to keep my new family member, Buddy. Since that day in 2018, Buddy and I have grown and learned together and Atlas is with us every step of the way.

anfal ali: I reached out to Atlas for their one on one training services. Prior to I had gone through a few trainers and I did not want to sign up for those super expensive one time training sessions with no guarantee. Thomas was a miracle worker honestly. Benny went from a sweet fluffy 15 pound puppy to a 60 pound 6 month terror! Was just unmanageable and overwhelming to deal with outside our home. In the house, he was the sweetest dog. We kept trying our previous trainer’s method and it was just not working to modify his behavior at all. I was pretty frustrated and super stressed taking him outside for walks. Everyone in the building was scared of him, it was just generally not a good time in our home lol. Thomas sat down and explained everything for the first 30min, and then we went on a walk. I can honestly say I watched my dog transform. It was such a weight off my shoulder, within an hour he was more manageable, well behaved, and calm. Then I would walk him and Thomas would give me pointers. Thomas made it VERY clear this was a one and done training session, not an on going saga of just handing over your money. He trained you and showed you the tools he uses. You are expected to do the work after that. He does offer follow up sessions if you are having specific problems. Which we did! He was great following up to see how things have progressed and when I had an issue he came right back, which I appreciated alot! I can honestly say Benny is a new dog and I feel much more in control and confident about handling him. Ive recommended Thomas to strangers on the street who have the same look I had when my dog was barking, lunging, pulling and not listening.

Jeremy Silas: We love Atlas. Our dog does daycare and also did training with Thomas. Our training sessions were very helpful and our pup has gotten much less reactive. Definitely recommend!

Brianna McCormack: AMAZING! The best dog daycare in DC. I cannot believe it has taken me this long to write a review. Atlas is so accommodating, friendly, and communicative. I need several treats to lure my dog away because she never wants to leave when I go to pick her up. My dog has been coming here since she was about 6 or 7 months old, and she is now a year and a half. If your dog has any kind of disability or special needs and you are nervous about leaving them somewhere where you arent 100% sure they will be accommodated, you should have no worries here. My dog is deaf, and blind in one eye, and uses sign language to communicate. The staff has taken the time to learn hand signals and communicate how she understands, which has helped both my dog and me trust them. Stephanie in particular is just the best. My dog is quite literally obsessed with her and she loves it. They do not have live camera feeds- BUT if you ask to see footage of them when you arrive to pick up, they have the cameras right at the front desk and you can take a peak. I also want to mention that my dog was snapped at by a possessive dog on the first day I had tried the daycare. Of course we know this can happen at any dog daycare- the important thing is how the situation is handled. Their protocol and actions were overly communicative in the best way. I got pictures of her via email, an entire summary (paragraphs) of what happened, a video of the incident, and they informed me that the dog that had snapped at her was put on hold from daycare until their possessive traits about toys/other items was under control. In the video, it took the room attendant less than 3 seconds to run over and break up the incident. My dog had such minor bleeding, by the time I picked her up you couldn’t even tell anything happened. She was all smiles, tail wagging, and slept for the entire night and half of the next day! Lol. A situation like that and how they handled it is worth me trusting them with my girl all day! PS on your dogs birthday they literally put party hats on them and give them treats in the shape of a heart. How adorable.. Recommend 100000%! :)

Andy Bradley: I can’t say enough great things about the staff at Atlas Vet. Danny does a great job with the facility and Thomas has conducted multiple training sessions with my dog that have been so helpful.

Caroline Campbell: We had our first dog training today with Danny at Atlas. Couldn't have asked for more clear and concise direction for how to correct a few behavioral issues with our pup. Danny listened to our needs and gave us step by step directions on how we as parents should interact and train our dog with positive reinforcement and reward. He was focused and engaged and really passionate about helping us learn. We have used a handful of trainers in the last two years and Danny by far is one of the best. We have begun using what we learned in our session today -- and seeing a change already with our dog.

Joe Weissfeld: Great place for boarding, daycare, and training. Thomas (the trainer) was great with our puppy Max, a pandemic puppy with separation anxiety - as we prepare to return to the office. His approach is to give you all the tools you need in one session and is available to answer follow up questions by texts after. A cost-effective approach, especially considering how effective he was as a trainer. Highly recommend..

Dog-Ma: what do users think?

KB: We've used them a few times. Seems like a nice place and my dog seems to like it. It's the only outdoor doggie daycare that I know of in the area which is great. But pickup/dropoff is a huge pain in the butt. They need a better system and better access/parking.

Mona Meesha: I drop by to see if I wanted to board my small dog at this establishment. I walked through the entrance of the long gated walkway to the back of the establishment and I was greeted with the stench of dog urine. It was a 90° plus that day and the smell was overwhelming. At that point I knew I did not want to board my dog here.

Elizabeth Sullivan: Been bringing my golden here since she was 6 months old (she’s 4 now) and she loves it! Both for daycare and boarding. The team at Dogma is awesome.

Allison Murphy: My 2yo rescue dog loves going to Dogma. She goes 1-2x a week for daycare, and I’ve boarded her there for weekend trips. She can get a bit overwhelmed by other dogs sometimes, and the Dogma staff are great at bringing her in for quiet time and belly rubs in the office when she needs a break. Every staff member knows her by name, and the business is extremely responsive. They also check the dogs thoroughly and have alerted me if they see anything odd (like a recent rash on her belly that I hadn’t even noticed).

Akailah Jenkins: Positive: Professionalism, Quality, Reliability, ResponsivenessCan’t say enough great things about this place! The staff is warm, welcoming and responsive. They know and always remember my pup. Not to mention, he LOVES it there! One of his favorite places on earth. He comes back happy and exhausted. Would definitely recommend to anyone.

LaDonna Ogden: My pup Bella Donna LOVES Dog-ma! Every time we pull up and she sees the blue fence she can hardly contain her excitement! She literally pulls me through the gates and doesn't even look back to say goodbye to me as she runs to the pack. She is a doodle so her favorite thing is the pools! On a hot day that is where the staff finds her. The staff is incredibly friendly and easy to deal with. I highly recommend this facility for daycare and boarding. I've utilized both services and had a positive experience with both services. Don't think about it any longer...just sign your dog up!

Ashley Douglass: We got our puppy during the pandemic and I feel like dog-ma is the reason he is so good around other puppies. He loves going here and he is absolutely exhausted once we bring him home because he gets to run and play to his hearts content here.

Laurie B: We are so thrilled to have found Dogma. Our dog has anxiety and we'd tried her at a couple other facilities, but it was a no go. Beth and team were great with giving her some time to get comfortable. The outdoor open space gave her room to meet the other dogs on her terms and they've made sure all the pups that come there are friendly and well mannered which makes all the difference. She played all day long and came home a happy and tired puppy (very little tires her out, so this was incredible). So excited to have this weekly outlet for her.

Michele Nicola: Beautiful ballpark on the waterfront. Great food, great family outing, children's play area and well maintained facilities. Giants baseball is the best!

Gregory Moran: Great doggie daycare with smooth morning and evening logistics. Prompt office admin scrubs like billing and email responses. However, it feels like the sheer volume of clients sometimes makes it difficult to offer a personal experience, like occasional proof of life pics during overnight boarding.

Dogtopia of Navy Yard: what do users think?

Melissa: I don’t think I could go to any other groomer after Dogtopia. The staff here were friendly and patient with Kodi and he came out of his appointment just two hours after I dropped him off looking and smelling wonderful. Gigi, especially, was very kind and patient with Kodi to ease his anxiety. I received updates and photos so that I knew Kodi was doing well and to make sure I was happy with his cut before she finished up. I was blown away with how great and affordable the service was. I will be continuing to walk down the street, past my former groomer, to get Kodi to Dogtopia for all his grooming needs—it’s far worth it.
Response: Thanks so much for your positive note! We're so happy that you enjoyed the groom you received for your BFFF. We can't wait to see you all again!!

Melissa Chapman: My dog LOVES when he goes to Dogtopia! The playroom is never crowded and has ample space for all the dogs. I love that the attendants in the room actually pay attention to the dogs - giving them pets and playing with them, while also making sure everyone is playing safe and the room is clean. The front desk staff are friendly and always excited to welcome my pup when he arrives.
Response: Thank you for your kind words! We appreciate your positive feedback and you trust in us with your sweet boy. We hope to see Baxter again soon!!

Mary Anne Hanrahan: Dogtopia is great! Gigi is a caring and talented groomer and was so kind to my small, nervous dog. Appreciated that he was only there for 2 hours and came out looking great! Reception and communication is awesome as well. Very happy and highly recommend!!
Response: Thank you so much for your positive feedback! We're elated that you were happy with the services provided and we hope that we can continue to provide quality service in the future!

Forrest Smith: We love Dogtopia of Navy Yard! Everyone there works with our active dog and he loves the staff. I couldn’t say enough positive to things. I also love that he can get groomed after a day of day care. He looked so handsome!

Peyton Sherwood: First time there this past week. They took great care of my dog Andy and had fantastic customer service. The staff were a delight and you could tell they enjoyed working with the pups. Will definitely be back again and again ❤️
Response: Thank you so much for your kind words! We can't wait to see you and Andy again very soon!!

James Castro: One of the best daycares in the area. They've worked through my dog's separation anxiety and it's evident to me he likes the people there. He definitely also comes back home tired from a long day of play and stimulation!
Response: Thank you so much for your positive feedback! We're elated that you are happy with the care we provide for Koda and we hope that we can continue to provide quality service in the future!

lexi f: was super excited to take my dog here, she loved the place and some of the staff. Until, I arrived a 6am to drop her off and no one was there.. 620 and finally some came out after multiple knocks, phone calls and e-mails. Manager blamed me because I didnt set up the membership YET but had 4 email confirmations saying I could come at 6 and sign up afterwards. Horrible customer service.
Response: Thank you for your feedback, Lexi. We set a high standard for ourselves, and truly apologize that you feel this wasn’t met with your experience with us. We thank you for discussing this matter with us directly and wish you as well as Thelma the very best.

Amber A.: I wanted to share my first and only experience I plan to have at dogtopia. My dog went in for a meet and greet and was accepted. I do like that I was able to see my dog through the webcams. There was a duration that I watched for an hour and there was no interaction with my dog. The dogs run around in a small room and go in circles. Honestly, if I wanted my dog to run around in one space she can be at home. This is not the worse part- when picking up my dog she comes running out... no one walked her out or handed her leash to me. On top of that, my dog was completely covered in pee. I wish that I could be exaggerating, but it was all over her fur. Her head, her back, her stomach, legs and tail. Her paws and legs were actually the color black, and I have a light brown goldendoodle. The pee was dried into her coat, so it was not as if she just rolled in it. The smell was strong. I called the place after picking up my puppy, because they were busy with pick ups and the girl in the front walked away and expressed my concern She said the best they could do is give me a free grooming the next time my dog goes. I let her know that I do not plan on returning my pet and asked for a supervisor or HQ to speak with. I was informed that the district manager will reach out to me. This occurred on 6/24/2022 and as of 6/30/2022 I have not been followed up with from dogtopia. I do have pictures that I will not post here, from pick up, the photos of her fur, and from cleaning her and seeing the discolorations come out of her fur. I have had pets in the past attend daycares (not dogtopia) and this has never been my experience. If I could give 0 stars, I would.

Kirk Coleman: GiGi is the best groomer I’ve had! I have a moyen red poodle who needs grooming at least once a month, and GiGi always rises to the occasion! She’s always attentive to my dog’s needs and consistently gives him the best grooming service. My dog gets excited every time we go to Dogtopia because he knows GiGi will take care of him. Highly recommend!
Response: Thank you so much for your positive feedback! We look forward to seeing both you and Draco again soon!

Nick Thomas: My dog is not the best with haircuts but Dogtopia does the best job at making Murphy feel comfortable and getting the job done. Would recommend. 10/10
Response: Thanks so much for your positive feedback! We hope to see Murphy again soon!

Colby's Dogcare & Spa: what do users think?

Colleen Turner: 10/10 overall experience! The owner (Michael) and his staff are so kind. You can tell they care about each individual dog as they’re able to speak specifically to how their day went (i.e. behavior, what they liked doing while there, etc). I was also welcomed back at pickup (which I assume isn’t the norm but can happen when it’s not too busy). This was really great as I was able to see just how clean and well thought out the space itself is. TL;DR: my dog leaves Colby’s with a huge smile on his face and some new friends, too! I highly recommend for your pet ownership needs.
Response: Colleen, Thank you so much for such a wonderful review. We absolutely love Milo and can't wait to have him back!

Monica Ostrander: Colby’s has been a life saver for us. Our dog is very shy with people (loves to play with other dogs). I took him for an evaluation and they gave me great feedback and have been very kind and patient with my pup to make him comfortable. He went from hiding behind me to pulling the leash to go to daycare in a short few weeks. The owner Michael and his staff genuinely care about each dog and what is best for the dog. I also like their philosophy of giving the dogs play and and rest time. My pup comes home tired but in a good way. I also enrolled my pup in the adult manners training class, he has made a ton of progress and I couldn’t be more happy with a doggy daycare.

Murray Penner: My family traveled for a recent holiday and we wanted our dog, Lilah, to stay in her own environment. We hired Michael to walk Lilah three times a day for five days. Michael was truly amazing. From the moment I talked to Michael until we were back home with Lilah, we were reassured that she was in the best hands. The professional nature of his service helped us feel comfortable that she was well-taken care of, especially the camera footage of each and every walk that we received at the end of each day. Michael communicated with us after each walk about all that Lilah did. We will utilize the services of Colby's Dogcare & Spa whenever we need them and I recommend Michael and Colbys to anyone else who is seeking services for their pup.

Laura Stanley: My dog Poppy and I have had a great experience at Colby's! My dog has been going about once a week since the facility opened. Michael is very attentive to Poppy and understands and observes her behavior more than many other daycares we've tried. The facility is very nice and clean. I also appreciate that the pups have down time (they switch back and forth between resting in their pens and playing). At first, I was a bit nervous that there are not cameras, but I am now confident that Poppy is well taken care of. We previously tried a different daycare that did not have cameras, and my pup would cry and pull towards me when I dropped her off. It made me nervous that something bad happened, and I did not have any way to know what was going on without a camera. However, Colby's is totally different. Poppy is excited to go to Colby's each time she is dropped off. Whenever we walk by, she pulls to go inside. Each time I pick her up, I get to go to the back to see the room, and all the dogs are happy and in a good environment. Colby's is very transparent and welcomes you to observe what is going on in the dog rooms. Overall, great experience. I plan to buy a package when I return to the office in August.
Response: Thank you for the wonderful review. We are tremendously grateful. We love hoppy Poppy and enjoy playing with her.

Ellie Shewring: I've never felt 100% confident leaving my dog at daycare/sleepovers until now. I know Hardy is safe, healthy, and loved with the folks at Colby's. He comes back happy, exercised, but not over-tired. The added benefit of the trainers being available during the day to work with him is amazing!! Plus nail trims!
Response: Ellie, Thank you for the wonderful review. Hardy is a great pup and I love when he hangs out in my office with me. Michael Pastreich President

Sara B: We've been dropping off our pup here for the last few days and have had a really great experience thus far. Michael, the owner, is very attentive to the dogs' needs and even sends us a daily picture of how our pup is doing. We appreciate the thoughtfulness and care the whole staff puts into taking care of our dog and would happily recommend Colby's to anyone looking for a doggie daycare!
Response: Sara, Thank you so very much for your review. Your pup lights me with joy every time I see him, and I cannot wait for his next visit. Sincerely, Michael Pastreich President

Cole Watson: Michael and the Colby’s team have been fantastic since their opening about a month ago. Our pup, Cooper, loves going to day care and he pulls anytime we walk past thinking that it’s time to go back. What a fantastic addition to the community - we look forward to the relationship going forward.
Response: Thank you for such a wonderful review! We love Cooper and love playing with him.

Michaela Sundermann: After a couple Rover nightmares, I found Michael at Colby’s Dogcare. And he has a client for life with me! He worked with me and my puppy to build the best schedule for her needs, and he’s always so pleasant to work with. He goes above and beyond (getting my dog special treats due to a stomach issue, reminding me to set out a towel when it rains, etc). Few people care so well for my furry friend. Plus - Michael sends updates and videos after every walk. If you’re looking for a walker, look no further. Can’t wait for the store front to open!

Angela Washington: I've been taking my dog to Colby's for the past few weeks and the experience for both of us has been really positive. I've been looking for another daycare in my area because my dog was not reacting positively to the last one, becoming despondent and nervous when I would walk up to the place, leading me to conclude an incident happened there. He also wasn't coming back the cleanest, so I wanted a change. I'm so happy I stumbled upon Colby's while walking him. Michael has been nothing but courteous and conscientious. Prior to signing up he gave me a full tour of the facility, which I really appreciated. No other daycare I've been to in the area (and I've been to almost all of them) has done that. Maybe they feel like they don't need to because dogcare services are so in demand. I cannot overemphasize how clean everything is -- spotless really. That Michael allows the owners to go into the play area to see how the dogs are interacting gives me a lot of trust that they are doing right by the animals under their care. I cannot recommend this business enough. Lastly, on the cost -- I'm so happy they are doing packages. The daycares in DC have gotten out of control with a la carte pricing and expecting 60 or more per day for dogs to run around a slab of concrete. The cost here is very reasonable with a package -- all the more reason to love the place.
Response: Angela, Thank you so much for your wonderful review. We love when your pup visits; even when he is less "Fluffy". While safety is always our highest focus, cleanliness is a close second, and love follows right behind that. Sincerely, Michael Pastreich President

Corinne Nielsen: I’ve taken my dog here twice for the soft opening week after meeting the owners at a yappy hour in my apartment building. You can tell they genuinely care about the dogs and have put a lot of thought into their space. There are solo boarding rooms with tvs so your dog doesn’t feel alone. The rooms are spacious and staffed, and the best part is they’ll take you to come see your dog playing in the room so you can see the cleanliness and facilities, which is a first in my 4 years of taking my dog to a daycare. They also do grooming and helped my dog because he was shedding like crazy when I brought him. Clean and new facilities with people who really care about your dogs like their own. Happy to take him back again!
Response: Corinne, Thank you for the wonderful review. We love your pup and enjoyed having him board here recently so that we had lots of great time with him. Sincerely, Michael Pastreich President

Luis Dog Camp: what do users think?

Gloria Nlewedim: We took our dog Barry to Luis Dog Camp for the first time yesterday! Luis was SO nice and accommodating when I called him to find out more information about the daycare and to set up a visit for Barry to make sure he would be a good fit. Barry came home from his first visit exhausted and seemed like he had a blast. Everyone we've met and texted with on the team has been so nice, even texting us updates during the day. We'll definitely be back!

Sarah Haack: I cannot recommend Luis Dog Camp enough. My pup was a regular for daycare and overnight boarding, and always came back happy and exhausted. Luis and his team truly love and care for their dogs, and are so personable, down-to-earth, reliable, and flexible. I recently moved from the area, and my pup still tries to jump in vans thinking it's the Luis Dog Camp "school bus," she loved it so much.

Hunter Demetriou: Best place in DC for dog day care/boarding. I moved out of the city, but used Luis Dog Camp for over 2 years with my dog. Luis and his team picked up and dropped off my dog every day, and were always reliable. It was very nice not having to worry about dropping off/picking up before/after work. Additionally, my dog was always exhausted upon returning. The prices are affordable compared to other day cares throughout the city and the service is fantastic.

Fanise Cannon: My dog has been going to Luis Dog Camp for over a year now. Luis Dog Camp offers pickup and drop off services and love each and every dog unconditionally! It’s affordable, convenient and they offer daycare, walks, and boarding. As long as I’m in DC we’ll be going to Luis Dog Camp!

Suzette Meade: Positive: Professionalism, Quality, Reliability, ValueI highly recommend Luis Dog Camp! My pup went to daycare daily and was always safe, well loved, and cared for. Luis and his staff always followed instructions and went the extra mile to look after my dog as if she was one of their own family. Thank you!

Lauren Patterson: Positive: Quality, Responsiveness, ValueI always know my dog is in great hands with Luis and the team at Luis Dog Camp. My pup loves spending time at dog daycare, boarding, and also for dog walkers to take her on walks while I'm at work (and fit in a few squirrel chasings!). I highly recommend Luis' team.

John Lesniak: Luis and his team take my dog to daycare multiple times a week and she always comes home tired from playing. She's always excited when Cornelius picks her up in the morning because she gets to play the entire day! I left town for a weekend recently and I knew my dog would be fine with Luis! It's a high quality and affordable option for all kinds of dog care.

Katie Sheppard: Positive: Quality, Reliability, ValueI absolutely love Lui’s Dog Camp and am so glad I found them after adopting my dog. It is clear that Lui and the team genuinely love dogs and want them to have a great time when they come to daycare. They have been a huge help to me and I always recommend them to other dog owners I know.

Raymond Ivy: Hey I just want to say that working with Luis at the dog camp was the best experience for me. I got to be around dog's which I love and work with some great people. If your consider considering bringing your dog to this doggy day care. Take my word for it you wont be disappointed.

Allison Lewis: Lui’s Dog Camp is a business run by dog people who prioritize the health and safety of animals. I have been sending my dog to their daycare program a few times a week over the past 4 months. Lui’s team makes a big effort to ensure the safety of dogs during transport. They keep a close eye on my dog and have demonstrated a culture of transparency and communication. For instance, Lui quickly gave me a call when one of the handlers noticed my dog threw up it my home. Lui is reachable over text and phone and responds quickly to schedule changes and other requests. I trust these guys and highly recommend their services.

District Dogs Navy Yard: what do users think?

Elise Bundl Egan: We have taken our poodle to Myeshia at District Dogs Navy Yard for grooming for over a year now. She always makes him look so good and dapper. We would especially recommend any poodley dogs to go to Myeshia for their grooming needs, but I'm sure her work with other dogs is incredible too! We particularly loved the mowhawk look she gave our boy for his birthday 🎉

Catharine Harris: Myeshia has been grooming my havapoo for a couple of years now and she always does an amazing job! Not only is the cut great, but she's so sweet and my pup is always excited to see her.

Zoe Ashton: This was our second visit to District Dogs in Navy Yard. Up until now we loved everything about this place - easy scheduling, timeliness... When we dropped off today, one of the employees even remembered our dog's name when we walked in the door. Unfortunately, we did not get the hair cut that we asked for (keep his face and legs a little full - classic Yorkie cut). We tried to explain this to the salon manager at pick up but she insisted what we asked for could not be done. Our issue is that we should have been told this at drop off or at the very least been contacted before they decided to cut all of his hair off! To make matters worse, when we called to speak to the manager, he could not confirm that we "ordered." The only thing he did was send us our dog's report card which described his behavior. They spoke to us as if they didn't even care. You would think spending $120 for a pet haircut would entitle you to a little customer satisfaction. But i guess not. This was one of the worst customer service interactions that we have had in a very long time!!!! District Dogs should give customers a copy of their haircut order and special requests in writing before performing the service so that everyone is on the same page.

Hanane Grini: My dog was living her best life here. I was nervous at first because I never left her in a daycare but the staff here was so welcoming and reassuring, they made me feel at ease. It’s a clean environment for dogs to socialize and play. I also appreciated the progress report I received at the end of the day and the pictures. We will definitely be back!

Jaime Effinger: We’ve tried a couple of different groomers. District Dogs was the first time that I felt like a groomer was receptive to how we wanted our dog groomed, and actually delivered. Our pup’s hair was cut just like we wanted and he looked great! Very reasonably priced as well.

Lisa: Sophia trained our beautiful Bernese Mountain Dog in the Adult Basic and Adult Advanced training classes. Sophia is the ultimate trainer! We also used the Spa and it is wonderful as well. Our puppy just gleamed and smelled wonderful! Thank you District Dogs at Navy Yard!

Takara Cunningham: Everyone was extremely friendly and professional! The staff made my fur baby and I feel welcomed and a part of their family immediately. I felt no hesitation with leaving my dog with them. I would definitely recommend District Dog to anyone whose looking for a safe place for their fur babies.

Alette Gilje: I would recommend as a daycare it’s available and a great Navy Yard residents location. It’s a lot of dogs for a small space. Morning checkin was also really not handled well, they didn’t ask follow-up questions with my related bookings for grooming that day. They also were very non communicative and just kind of took my dog not even asking who it was. I had to follow-up on items myself including feeding details. I get it’s busy but as a pup parent at their first daycare drop off I did not feel whatsoever confident that my dog would have a good experience. He was fine and I had more anxiety about it than he did but still I needed to at least feel like management and staff were on top of things and the morning was chaotic for them

Michelle Majkut: My new puppy was a very nervous girl when she arrived in DC, but District Dogs has continuously provided opportunities for her to come out of her shell to become more social and comfortable with her other dogs and humans. We’ve attended Puppy Kindergarten (excellent option for puppies to first socialize), Yappy Hour social events (love to put her socializing skills to work), and most recently Structured Daycare. By far Structured Daycare has been the most perfect offering from DD for my pup - her very first day she was in a group with just 2 other small dogs and they got to play and learn commands together with an “attendant” alway there to ensure the dogs were all comfortable and appropriately playing. When I picked her up that day, it was the first time she walked out on her leash and then walked all the way home without getting scared or needing to be carried -her confidence and comfort was already apparent after just one day. I’ve seen some criticism of Structured Daycare about the dogs being in their crates for long times but I can assure you that after watching her entire day via webcam (yes, I’m THAT dog mom), she only spent ~30-45mins at a time in the crate next to her two new playgroup friends. While she is already crate trained, the pandemic has meant I’m home the majority of the time so she isn’t used to being crated during the day or while things are going on around her - so this was the perfect chance to get her comfortable in a crate outside of bedtime. We’ll be returning for a few more Structured Daycare days until she is ready for District Dogs’ regular daycare. 10/10 would highly recommend the classes, social events, and specialized daycare for anyone with a new dog who might be a bit timid, nervous, or just new to the city environment.

Katherine Moxley: I’ve been very happy with the services at District Dogs- Navy Yard. My puppy goes to daycare Monday-Friday and comes home happy and tired. She also gets groomed here which is super convenient! Everyone is very friendly and knows my pup by name. Definitely check them out!

Duncan Dog Hotel: what do users think?

Kristen Woodworth: My dog loves the Duncan! He has been going to daycare twice a week since they opened and loved it so far. The staff is always so welcoming and clearly love the dogs. They often send report cards with photos of the dogs, and also take them on regular walks included in the daycare price... a rare perk! My dog has also boarded for 5+ nights and it was a great experience. The staff sent updates and gave him a bath before I picked him up. Also had a great grooming experience which is not always the case for doodles. Definitely recommend the Duncan Dog Hotel for your pet needs!
Response: Rudy's been with us since the first day and we adore having him with us! Thank you for sharing some of his love!

Valencia Roach: My dog is not used to being away from me. He seems to have a great experience at Duncan Dog Hotel. They send me photos of him throughout the day. That helps me...knowing he is happy while I am away.
Response: Thank you! We loved having Cash!

Cara Overweg: My dog is very shy around new people but Duncan is one of his new favorite places. As the return to office was imminent I was so thankful this place opened up to bring him a day or two a week. You can tell the staff love the dogs and I appreciate that they also get outside for a walk during the day. The report cards are the highlight of my day seeing what he did and who he played with. Highly recommend anyone with a pup to try out Duncan!
Response: Thank you so much!

Emily Brown: I have been taking my dog to Duncan consistently since it opened and couldn’t be more impressed with the staff and how they treat my dog! She’s a very active pup and can be a handful at times, but they’re so patient with her and it’s the absolute best days of her week as she always comes home exhausted. I love that they take her outside for a walk and send out report cards so that I know what she did during the day. I’m so thankful for this place and highly recommend it to anyone!
Response: Maggie is one of a kind and we appreciate having her with us!

Nathalie Navarrete: I brought my pup to the Duncan Dog Hotel a couple of weeks ago for her Full Day Temperament Trial visit. Tucker, the owner, is incredibly responsive and is always available via phone/email to answer questions. I appreciated that dogs here are grouped by size and activity level. They're also taken on walks during the day which is included in the original booking price. Other places usually add this service as an add-on cost. The staff at this location were kind and friendly, and shared a detailed report card on how my pup did throughout the day. I can't recommend this place enough!
Response: Thank you Nathalie! We look forward to seeing Memphis again soon.

Gregg Moreland: My shitztu puppy received one of the best haircuts he has ever had. The people a Duncan Dog Hotel cared for him so well. I like the ability to drop him off in the morning and pick him up much later, knowing that he will be able to play with the other dogs until I'm able to pick him up later.
Response: We loved having Gravenstein here with us! We look forward to seeing him again!

Jessica Pudlo: This review is primarily for the grooming service: my dog bear has a LOT of fur and is difficult to groom, she’s an Akita/Aussie mix and has lots of fur! I have tried many grooming services in DC and have been so unsatisfied. This was the first groom in three years that was excellent. The groomer did an AMAZING job and took care of areas and things I didn’t even ask about!! I will mention the owner seems a little rough around the edges and isn’t the best with customer service but the care that Bear received from the staff and groomer was great. Will go again.
Response: Sorry if I was brusk. Grooming days get a bit chaotic. We are still trying to find our rhythm. I promise to do better in the future.

Tyjayla Ward: Critical: Professionalism, Quality, ReliabilityThe owner is very unprofessional. He is very disrespectful and he's a liar.He physically pushed me into a room with the dogs and he doesn't treat his employees with respect. He has took me off the schedule many times and then complains about not having enough money to pay everyone
Response: We are sorry Tyjayla feels this way. We are a start up business and Ty was not a good fit for the company culture. We have overstaffed in order to take the best care of our guests. As we assess our staffing needs we needed to cut hours until we have more clients. We wish Ty well.

Macon Morrison: Do can Dog Hotel has a talented grooming and a great daycare facility

Tails of the City Pet Care: what do users think?

Candice Ellis: I use Tails of the City for their cat-sitting service and have nothing but great things to say. The owners and staff are kind, professional, and responsive. Scheduling is a breeze, and pricing is very fair. I love that I receive a personalized email with photos and a detailed description of my kitty's mood, behavior, eating habits, etc, at the end of each visit. It really puts me at ease knowing that she's being looked after by such caring folks while I'm away. Thank you for being so awesome, Tails of the City! Kitty and I appreciate it very much :)

Joanna Ong: Great experience with Guadalupe! I hired her to walk my fearful reactive dog who avoided strangers to the point of paralysis. The goal was to get my dog to a point where housesitting when I travel for work could be possible. Within two weeks of daily walks, Guadalupe was able to retrieve and walk my dog on solo walks without me.

Shelley Thompson: We love Tails of the City! They are affordable and we get the best pics and updates from our dog walker (and portrait mode glamour shots!). Our shy girl has come out of her shell so much through her weekly walks with a group of other dogs through Tails of the City and has learned to play with other dogs at the dog park (previously she would just hang with the humans)! They are incredibly responsive in terms of scheduling and have a very easy client portal.

Jenny Gersten: Tails of the City saved me when I had to relocate to DC for 6 weeks with my dog. I came with my Labrador thinking she'd stay with me for just two weeks, but the care and service we got for dog walking and overnight pet-sits was so excellent that we ended up using their services for all 6 weeks. We had three different dogwalker and all of them took care, were prompt and communicative. My dog was very well taken care of, and I couldn't recommend this service more highly.

Denise Wales: We love Tails of the City! We use their dog walking and boarding services frequently. They take such good care of our pets and provide great customer service.

Jennifer: Great company! Have provided care for two of our pets over the last few years. Easy scheduling process and excellent communication with owners on how each visit goes.

Jonathan Spencer: Great service, trustworthy, and have attention to detail. They’re loving and competent care givers for all pets.

Quinn Tshudy: Tails of the City Pet Care goes above and beyond.

Kisha Tubman: Great place to cRe for your pets

patty Terrazas: Great people!!! Love it ❣️

Blue Dog Boarding & Daycare: what do users think?

Arnetta Fletcher: I love Blue Dog Boarding and have been a client since 2014 with 3 different dogs. We recently had our newest puppy stay for the first time over Christmas. During all of our stays, Blue Dog Boarding was responsive to our needs and reliable. Blue Dog has been especially helpful in providing accommodations during our abrupt change of plans. I appreciated their drop off service as I didn’t need to leave my car during drop off/ pick ups. My only concern is that Ada came back with a very strong “kennel” odor during her stay and had some dried feces on her fur. But it was nothing a nice warm bath at home couldn’t resolve. Update for clarity: Clients are able to schedule and pay for an exit bath as an additional service. But I was mostly referring to the overall condition my puppy was sent home. I wasn’t sure if the dried feces was hers or not and didn’t know I was carrying it home. If so, then I wonder what happened for her to have dried feces on her. Probably just better if I didn’t see it. Not a complaint but certainly a valid observation that I hope is taken into kind consideration.
Response: Hi Arnetta- Thank you so much for the review! We love Ada. Please let us know if you would like to schedule her for an exit bath the next time she stays with us. Our Bather is in Tuesdays through Fridays.

Kenneth Carpenter: My dogs have always had a good experience at Blue Dog and the staff is excellent. At the most recent boarding, I was caught in an unexpected snow storm and I was going to be delayed picking up the dogs. I called to let them know of my delay and they reassured me of their continued care until I arrived and expressed their own concern for my safe driving. Now that’s special. I really appreciated that.
Response: Kenneth! What a nice review. Thank you so much. So sorry you had to deal with slow in late April!

Monte Mallin: Focusing on the grooming side of blue dog - can't say enough about the excellent grooming that our dog (and until recently, dogs) receive here. Our dog is a challenging breed but they always do a great job of capturing her peculiar grooming requirements. it's also great that as a general rule, the pets are only there for a few hours as opposed to all day which they appreciate and we do as well. Their current groomer is excellent and we are happy to return there and support.
Response: Thank you so much for the review, Monte! We are grateful for you taking time to show your appreciation. It helps us out soo much! We love our groomer.

Elizabeth Dunn: I warmly recommend Blue Dog Boarding and Daycare. My son’s 5 year old rescue moved from Florida to Silver Spring, and his territoriality issues and clinginess ramped up to a sad degree. His weekly trip to Blue Dog has been transformative – he is better with other dogs, better with separating from us, comes home happy and tired, and my husband and I have a safe place where he is comfortable and can be boarded when we go out of town. Before registering with Blue Dog I had several conversations with staff about their set up, important because in this pandemic no one but staff enters the facility. Most of the building is a large open area divided by fencing that lets the dogs watch each other. The dogs wear paper collars so no one can get snagged or choked. There are no toys to fight over, but some climbing structures. The dogs are segregated generally by size, with a small area where a dog can go who wants to watch the other dogs but not be near them. You can get the doggy cam app, and it is a little addictive. You really get a sense of dogs as pack animals. If staff enters an area with a mop, most of the dogs run to the fence to watch, some get so excited they run in circles. Others are offended by the lack of attention and turn away in a huff. There’s generally some older dog snoozing in a corner. I was happy to find Blue Dog where the staff is knowledgeable, safety-conscious, and kind. Liz D. Silver Spring
Response: Elizabeth! We are grateful and touched by your thoughtful review. We are so happy to hear that your dog's experience was transformative. Feedback and results like this is 1000% why we do what we do!

Geraldine Crawford: Positive: Professionalism, ReliabilityMy dog Bucky always comes home from being groomed clean and happy. He is an Australian Shepherd and his coat is soft and free of mattes. They do a wonderful job of grooming. If I’m running late he’s able to go to doggie daycare and play for awhile.
Response: Thank you, Geraldine! We are grateful for your review and for you as a client.

K. Elizabeth Leamy: We have been sending our lab, Penny, to Blue Dog daycare twice a week since she was 16 weeks old. She gets so excited when she sees where we are going or of we ask her if she wants to "go see her friends." The staff is always so courteous and helpful, and is always accommodating if we have a last minute request. The hours are also great for my husband and I as we transition back to work in D.C. and need to change our schedule for drop offs and pick ups.
Response: Thank you, thank you! We love Penny right back :) We appreciate you so much as clients.

Aya Aljamili: I boarded my cat for the first time at blue dog boarding. She stayed for 6 days and I picked her up today. The owner Janette, and the team Celeste & Madeline were all super kind and caring. Helping me from the minute I called to book, dropping off, and when I called to check on my kitty. Excellent service and highly recommended, we’ll definitely book here again!
Response: Thanks so much Aya! We loved caring for your cat. We are delighted you were happy with our services. :)

Karla Rodriguez (KRod): This was a great day care experience for my 2 dogs and myself. They loved the attention from the staff and got the interaction they needed with other dogs. I will definitely use this business very soon. I highly recommend this business.
Response: Thank you so much, Karla! We appreciate you. We look forward to seeing you and your dogs again soon.

Joseph Henrich: I was given an entirely wrong dog. I have a two year old husky and employee brought out a pit mix. I usually do not write negative reviews but I found it to be unacceptable that the employees did not even know who my dog is! Then when I am brought my dog he was covered in feces and urine, he has NO history of EVER rolling in feces or urine, when I asked the employee what happened they replied with an ignorant "I don't know" and shut the door on me. Will not be coming back. Stay away.
Response: Hi Joseph, I was trying to find you in our client base in order to reach out and address these concerns, but I am unable to find you in our records. If you are a client of ours, we would appreciate it if you would reach out to us directly so that we can help resolve this issue.

E E: My dog Bella and I love this place. The staff is so caring and I always receive Bella back after a couple days boarding smelling good and looking happy. I trust them to watch my Bella time and time again.
Response: Thank you so much for such a lovely review! We appreciate you!

Dogtopia: what do users think?

Dell: Dogtopia has the responsibility to notify their customers of any changes to the facility. I learned 1-23-22 that the outdoor area has been closed for several weeks and has no estimated plan of completion. To date customers are not aware of this information. Some might feel comfortable with their pet having no other choice but to deficate and urinate in the playroom and also stay indoors the entire day. I am not! I purchase packages for the benefit of my pet being taken Outside every few hours. I am truly disappointed that I was not informed. The dogtopia staff are great! Management needs improvement.

V Wallace: Be cautious about sending your dog here. Just know that dog owners do not accurately report when their dog has kennel cough and Dogtopia will deny that it came from their facility. I was guilty of it myself. I thought it simply was the price of bringing your dog to a kennel. I have one dog. He does not go to any other facility. Doesn't even go inside a pet store. I brought him to Dogtopia for a few days a week. He got a respiratory infection. Vet visit was $500 plus a ton of antibiotics. No problem, could have gotten it from anywhere. Didn't stress. Over three weeks later we return for one day. A Tuesday. He stayed home the rest of the week. By Friday he was hacking uncontrollably. I take him to the emergency vet just walking distance from Dogtopia. They tell me it's kennel cough and proceed to explain how they've seen an increase of KC from locals bringing their pets to the kennel. $300. I return to Dogtopia over two weeks later and explain what happened. Didn't want compensation, just wanted to share that my dog got kennel cough from their facility and if they were notified by other owners. I was told that they werent notified by anyone but "most of our dog owners would tell us". Btw, since YOU told us, you can't come back until your dog returns to the vet and gets cleared. It all makes sense. Dog owners will not disclose that information for fear they will have to spend another $70 just so a vet can look at their dog and confirm that thet are cleared of kennel cough before they can return. So...if you wanna risk your dog getting sick regularly and paying a ton of vet bills, go for it. But no worries, if you return and keep it to yourself, you're good to go!

Jarret Kuhfahl: Visited many doggie day care facilities in the area and easily chose Dogtopia of Alexandria. Super clean facilities, not overly crowded, dog size segregation is spot on, spa facilities and service on premise. Everyone who works there is a true and true dog lover and I feel like my guy is always being well taken care of. They do have an outdoor run, the live stream web cams always work, and of course there is always an attendant in each room to quickly clean up any "doggie messes" and keep the pack in good play and monitoring any signs of rough or aggressive behavior. Moose gives it two paws up!

Keaira Wortham: If I could give this place ZERO stars I would. My dog was ATTACKED twice within one week, the second time resulting in a visit to the vet followed by medication to heal the bite (which after calling and my 2 months later, they finally paid the vet bill). The manager had a nonchalant attitude about the whole thing and the staff. they kept telling me " It wasn't that bad". If you have a larger dog they just place them in a room, there are NO toys nothing for the dogs to play with. They are constantly crating dogs and leaving them for long periods of time. THIS PLACE IS A DUMP. Please reconsider another daycare for your fur baby. There are plenty of local daycares that have play groups, stimulating activities, tons of toys, and that rotate play groups throughout the day. I even had a front desk staff tell me he wouldn't connect me to the manager if I didn't tell him my pets name and told me "Well I guess you'll only speak with the manager if you come up here" Trust me, the discounted rate is for a reason. This facility lacks professionalism, do not let the fake welcoming voices fool you. Lastly, they do not have a limit on how many dogs come in daily which is likely the cause of so many dogs being attacked (as you will see below) and on top of that they only have ONE attendant for about 20-30 plus dogs. I would not recommend this place even if it were free.

Ashley Norton: Upon arrival for our Meet & Greet, it was very obvious they were extremely understaffed and overwhelmed. We scheduled our dogs to be boarded for 3 nights while we were in the area for a family event. They misread my dog’s records, which were fully up to date, and tried to schedule a vet appointment for them before me giving them permission. They also called me twice the first night saying that my dogs couldn’t stay there and needed to be picked up within 15 minutes. But it was their mistake again, and the staff didn’t realize they were there to be boarded, even though we scheduled the stay many days ahead. Their webcams were down the majority of the time, but while it was on it was extremely hectic in the dog room. I don’t understand how they think 1 trainer to 30 dogs is acceptable... it was a mad house clearly not under control. The staff did not acknowledge nor apologize for the inconveniences. The entire stay with Dogtopia and their staff was very unprofessional and disappointing. I will not recommend this place to anyone.

Hannah Schaefer: My dog loves coming to Dogtopia. Facilities are clean and staff is very friendly and helpful. Love that they have dog cameras you can access and watch your pet throughout the day. You can even send treats / snacks for your dog during their "crate time" from 12-2pm. Will do an assessment of all pups before allowing them to attend daycare to ensure it is a safe place for all. Overall would recommend this place and trust them for my very spoiled pup!

Michelle A: Not planning on bringing my dog here again, even though I have 2 free daycare sessions with them. My dog came home with a cut across her face, and scratch marks all over her underbelly. This location really needs additional staff. I monitored the webcams for the majority of the day, and I only saw one employee per playroom; each playroom had more than 10 dogs in it. There is absolutely no way they can watch the dogs attentively with everything else they have to do. The webcams constantly lag, but it's helpful to see what is happening. My dog is a female, so other dogs try to mount her (I understand that is typical dog behavior), but when she is being weighed down by multiple dogs at one time, I expect the staff to step in and separate them. I watched this happen multiple times on the webcam, and the employee didn't do anything about it. I got fed up and called this location to ask if she could be moved to.a different room. They said she could not because she didn't meet the weight requirements, but they would connect with the staff in the room to make them aware of the issue. Even after that, not much changed. I won't recommend this place to anyone looking for daycare services for their pet.

Samuel Byun: Marla, the General Manager, gave some thoughtful tips after the Meet&Greet. Ray, Connie, and Hailey do their bests so that Cola feels welcome. She has a blast whenever she goes there. Dogs are said to be undercover therapists, but even therapists need some downtime with their other furry friends... Highly recommend Dogtopia for their Woofffbulousness ( Woof + fabulous.)

Bernadette Grafton: Our dog Ellie LOVES Dogtopia!!! She cannot contain her excitement whenever we take her for daycare. It's like we don't even exist - bye mom and dad!!! She seems to have a blast running around and playing with all the other dogs when she's there. I also appreciate that there's down time for the pups. The staff at Dogtopia really do take great care of the dogs and we are so thankful to have such a wonderful place for Ellie to go to run out all of her energy once or twice a week.

Morgan Stoner: Critical: Quality, ReliabilityWe had taken our pup here a few days for daycare and boarding and each time he came back he contracted kennel cough due to having 20-30 dogs in a single room with no outdoor time during his stay. We will not be taking him to this location again!

Your Dog's Best Friends: what do users think?

Danielle Skinner: I have been going here for years and they take such great care of the dogs, who they treat as family. My dog was boarding here this weekend while i was out of town and she had a health emergency. I didn't know what to do but the staff was great and went above and beyond to make sure she was okay. They drove her an emergency vet late in the evening, after closing hours, and waited on call late at night to hear from the doctor. She had to stay overnight in the hospital and the staff picked her up the next day (shout out to Yolanda for driving back and forth and being so responsive to my calls). They made me feel so much better knowing my dog was in such great hands and with people who care about her!

Monica P: Dog was dropped off and five minutes later we were told to pick the dog up because they were no longer welcome. Dog has never been in an altercation, has not been injured or injured other dogs, had numerous successful boarding and daycare stays at YDBF, and has had nothing but positive reviews at other daycare and boarding facilities. Thankfully our plans were not thwarted as our other daycare provider was able to squeeze us in. The decision was obviously made long ago by YDBF but never communicated to us which is quite unprofessional. Over the last few months they have been trying to push training with their in-house trainer (whose certifications and continuing education are not listed anywhere) because the dog would rush to the entrance to investigate new dogs entering the play area. Normal dog behavior and in speaking with certified trainers and other daycare providers, something that is commonly managed by separating the newcomers for a short time while they acclimate and other dogs lose interest. The trainer at YDBF, in peddling his expertise, said that the staff cannot dedicate a person to calling off a dog. Interestingly enough, in speaking with a highly qualified, trained, and certified trainer about the issue, the very remedy to the issue requires someone constantly reinforcing a different behavior to the stimuli; this same trainer said that facilities often choose to manage the issue. I’ll take the time to say that at no point was it communicated to us that training with the YDBF trainer was a condition of the dog continuing to use their boarding and daycare services. We made good faith efforts to reach out to the trainer when these so-called concerns were brought to our attention and never received a response save for a very pushy and uncomfortable sales pitch when he ran after my partner on her way out of the facility. We can honestly say that we used YDBF solely because of their convenient hours and not having to secure a daycare slot in advance. However, it seems that these very same conveniences are what create an overcrowded, overstimulated, and badly managed environment. I look forward to saving money on dog cologne now that I won’t have to spray the dog down each and every time she visits the place. Thankfully she is deaf and can’t hear the floor staff shouting incessantly on the floor (fascinating how they’d also shout her name at pickup despite being told several times that the dog is deaf). Don’t be like us, sometimes a little less convenience and a little more money buys a whole lot of peace of mind.

Jennifer Warnock: I was out walking my dog on a trail in Alexandria and I moved off to the side of the trail because he can be reactive. Along came one of the trainers from your dogs best friend who had a dog in his charge. I’ve moved off to the side since my dog can be a bit reactive —waiting for them to pass. He told me that I should move. And I said no I’ll wait for you to pass he’s like well I’m” not gonna pass I’m just gonna stand here. “ He became very combative, defensive, and rude. Then he proceeded to yell at me. This was a white guy With a scraggly beard who absolutely had no control over this dog.. I can give you legitimate training tips and people that can train your dog if you’re interested! I certainly wouldn’t trust my dogs best friend and the kind of element they’re employing.

Jamie Brennan: Discrimination at it's finest. They have a whole admissions/behavior assessment for every dog and, yet, they don't accept bully breeds. When I called, they said it was because they "had an incident." Discriminating against a certain kind of dog because of the behavior of one/few is called DISCRIMINATION. Despicable and shameful.

T C: We've taken Puppy K with Sarah and it was top notch considering it was over zoom. Started Puppy 1st grade with her in person and know we are going to learn a lot. This place is hard to find though. Look for green and blue sign that says Energy Consciousness. Your Dogs Best Friend's door is on the side.

Clay Friese: We have been taking our pup Fred here for a long time and the staff is phenomenal. I highly recommend getting your dog groomed here. The prices are not bad and the groomers are perfect. I have not used their boarding/ daycare services yet but I will use them in the future.

Allison G.: YDBF has been a great resource for me as a dog foster parent. Some of my fosters have not been good candidates for the dog park despite wanting to be social with other dogs. The dogs are always eager to go and tired when they come home, like my foster Jack, who usually slept for 10-12 hours (except for a quick pee break or two) after a day at playcare getting supervised socialization. Now, he's in his forever home with canine siblings, and happy as can be. Jack's behavior at YDBF let us know he could be placed in a home with other dogs without worry. And I'm really thankful I have YDBF available for my fosters. The dogs have a great time. They're supervised. The staff will note their behavior and let you know how your dog behaved. It's been all positive experiences, and I cannot recommend them enough.

Heidi Fitzharris: Positive: Professionalism, Quality, Reliability, Responsiveness, ValueWe've been using Your Dog's Best Friend for about 7 years for boarding. We love the kennel-free boarding and so do our dogs! The "Salty" and "Sweet" play romp rooms are great for our dogs and their socialization! Highly recommend!

Andy Zaidi: Staff is always super friendly (albeit sometimes don't reply to emails in a timely manner), and my Samoyed loves it here!

Krystal M: Friendly staff who comment on my dogs’ individual personalities each time I go. You can tell they love to get to know the dogs who are here.

DC DOG SITTER | 'Where All Pets Become Family!': what do users think?

Alexandra Dittmer: I have been using DC Dog Sitter to care for my Olive while I am away at work and I am SO HAPPY I CHOSE THEM!! They send the cutest pictures of Olive having tons of fun with them on her walk with messages about their time together!! They also make sure to follow all of my special requests which makes me feel Olive is very safe with them! They are also super kind and accommodating of my requests! They also sent the most adorable Christmas package for Olive and I with the cutest ornament of Olive!! DC Dog Sitter is a must have if you’re looking for reliable and loving pet care!!!

Elizabeth Baker: I’ve been using DC Dog Sitter since I got my puppy and I can’t say enough good things about their services! Jenn, the owner and her team are always communicative, accommodating, and have also offered me amazing advice. My puppy loves her two dog walkers, Gabby and Gina and I always feel that she is safe in their care. They update me with photos and a summary of the walk, which I love.
Response: Thank you so much for your kind words! We are so grateful for you and L! 🐶🐱🐦🐾 😊❤️

Mary Thompson: The best Pet Sitters on the East Coast!! Our dog jumps for joy when she sees the DCDS Team and heads out the door with barely a look back. If you can get over the feeling that your dog might prefer to be more with the DCDS Team than her own family - all is great! Here is a recent photo from her DCDS vacation while we were away. The team is awesome about keeping us up to date as well as providing great adventures. Jenn is also a wealth of information for nutritional tips and reducing your pets overall toxic exposure.
Response: Thank you so much, Mary! We love caring for your sweet girl! 🐶🐱🐦🐾 😊❤️

Claire Alsup: These folks are simply the best. We have a cat with critical daily medication needs. When we go out of town I always feel secure and trust that She's being well taken care of with anyone from DC Dog sitter. It's clear they truly love animals. They are over communicators on the portal so we know exactly how our girl is doing, her meds, etc. recommend to everyone!
Response: Thank you so much!!! 🐶🐱🐦🐾 😊❤️

M. Mattison: I wish I could leave 10 stars. DCDS is bar none the best dog sitting service out there. What sets Jenn and company apart from everyone else is how much they cater to both you and your pet. Jenn and company are prompt and responsive with communication, and if you are pressed for time will pick up your pet and drop them off at the beginning and end of each stay. Each member of this group LOVES animals. They cater to any particular pet diets, provide specific home remedies for any pet ailments, and make sure that each stay is a pampered vacation for your pet. However, what truly impressed me about Jenn was how she worked with me when a family emergency extended my five-day puppy sitting in to five weeks. Jenn fed my baby on her own dime *not charging me*, took my little girl to extra puppy play dates, checked in with me to see how I was handling everything and was thoughtful and compassionate when I was completely stressing out. I can’t articulate enough how wonderful everyone was, going so far as to pick me up from the airport and leave me and my Scarlett a little goodie basket when I got home. I’ve used DCDS several times and don’t trust my fur baby with anyone else. If you are looking for a fantastic and loving group of people to take amazing care of your furry one, DCDS is it.
Response: Love this! Thank you so much! We are so grateful for you and S. 🐶🐱🐦🐾 😊❤️

david hoag: We used DC Dog Sitter to take care of our cats while we were gone on vacation for a week. They were great! Very communicative, as they would send messages when they were on their way to our place, and then again after they had been there, providing alot of detail and photos of what they did while they were there. They took great care of our pets, and it gave us great peace of mind as we we away, that our pets were getting attention and well cared for. They followed our instructions to a T, including watering the plants as well as all the cat-related stuff, and they took pictures of the cleaned litter box, their food, and of course our cats during their visit. Very happy with this service in our first time using them.
Response: Thank you so much!!! It was our pleasure to care for your furry crew! We look forward to providing care again! 🐶🐱🐦🐾 😊❤️

Erin Matson: DC Dog Sitter is such a great small business! When we adopted our small terrier mix dog a year ago, she was nervous around new people and new dogs. The team at DCDS met her where she was at - taking the time to slowly introduce her to her walker and to other pups. Since lockdown, we’ve been sending our dog on Adventures with DCDS, and it’s been by far the best thing that happened to her. She has blossomed. She cannot wait every week for the DCDS team to pick her up and whisk her away for a few hours of awesome adventure. The staff are responsive - weekends, late nights, whenever we have a question or need to reschedule. DCDS has helped bring our dog out of her shell! Thank you to the DCDS team!
Response: Thank you so much for your kind words! We so love having you as part of our DCDS Family! 🐶🐱🐦🐾 😊❤️

Jillian Campbell: Jenn and her entire team have been wonderful with our dog. They walk him every day during the week when we are at work and he goes on "adventures" on Thursdays. The adventures often consist of hikes, trips to local parks, and over the Summer lots of swimming. We also use DC Dog Sitter for sitting when we go away. Our dog has some special needs, but DC Dog sitter has been exceptionally accommodating and understanding. They are extremely reliable and I love getting numerous messages/pictures throughout the day on what he is up to. All of the dog walkers have been great and we have not had any issues. Jenn is great about communicating with us and is so knowledgeable about dog health and diet. She has been a great resource for us and has always gone above-and-beyond to answer any of our questions. I know my dog is safe and happy when he is in the care of DC Dog Sitter. I cannot give them higher praise.
Response: Thank you so much, Jillian! We love helping Toby get to his happy place swimming and running free! 🐶🐱🐦🐾 😊❤️

Fatima Delante: Positive: Professionalism, Quality, Reliability, ResponsivenessThe team is really professional in handling pets, especially Jenn! She knows effective tips and tricks that I never knew I can apply on my pet. DC Dog Sitter goes above and beyond in caring for your furry companion!!
Response: Thank you so much! 🐶🐱🐦🐾 😊❤️

Wendy Gordon: My doggo and I have been using this service since our dog was a pup. We participate in Adventures. Such a wonderful program! Our dog loves it and he adores his team of walkers and canine friends he has met and plays with every time he goes out. It gives him socialization, exercie and a little training review--all of which is so helpful. The fact that I get a review and photos after each hike is fantastic as well. I love this service. Highly recommend.
Response: Thank you so much! 🐶🐱🐦🐾 😊❤️

District Dogs Clarendon: what do users think?

Alan Alper: They only got 5 stars because there aren't anymore to give. Manny has never looked better!. And his whole personality has changed. He is like a puppy (he is almost 10years old). He loves Alisa and she loved him. She let him lay down during most of his drying. He knows how good he looks. I'd tell everyone to go there but I don't want it to be impossible for Manny to get an appointment (I have already scheduled his next one). My wife and I are beyond thrilled and Manny seems pretty damned happy too. Go ahead and schedule, as long as you don't take one away from us. By the way, the facility is brand new, very modern, well planned and well laid out. I am beyond impressed. Alan Alper and Manny the Akita
Response: WOW, thank you, Alan! We loved seeing Mr. Manny, and I know Alisa fell in love with him during his groom. Thank you for the lovely review!

Annie Mahoney: We got a private training package wth Matt Revell for our reactive dog and it has been life-changing for us. Matt is very clear with instructions and our dog loved him. He is very attentive, helpful, and communicative. We will definitely be going back to him and District Dogs for more training.

Jackie Stout: My husband and I were so excited when District Dogs opened having just moved to Clarendon from Great Falls. We quickly signed up for our 2 yr old doggie to be evaluated. She just loves playing with other dogs. In the application I was clear that our dog had separation anxiety. In less than 20 mins our dog “failed” the evaluation. They stated she didn’t respond to basic commands. The interesting point here is that our dog has been attending doggie daycare for over a year at a beautiful doggie day care in Great Falls and a doggie day care in Ballston for the past 3 months along with staying with many dog sitters. Both of these facilities and the dog sitters admitted that it took her time (about 20 mins) to relax and then became sweet and cuddly. Neither facility or any dog sitter has reported any issues. So who is really the issue? The worst part is when my husband asked when she could be re-evaluated the answer was never…it’s once and done. This is extremely arbitrary and it does not reflect how dogs improve over time. UPDATE (6/15/22): I just had a wonderful conversation with Diane at District Dogs Clarendon regarding our experience. We’ve concluded that there was some miscommunication on re-evaluation procedures and on how to handle our doggie’s separation anxiety. Diane was terrific in working with us to develop a plan for acclimating our dog to the new environment in order to set up for success at her next evaluation. Fingers crossed! UPDATED (7/1/22) I've been taken my dog a few times to the facility to help her get use to the place. Diane and the staff have been wonderful about gently greeting my dog and letting her walk around the rooms. Whether my dog passes her next evaluation or not I'm changing my rating to five stars. Diane and the staff have made every effort to help my dog to be successful
Response: Jackie, I am so sorry for this unhappy first experience at our new Clarendon facility. We make it a top priority to work with all of our pups, anxious or gregarious, as much as we can. While I do not know why you were given very incorrect information, we absolutely are more than happy to re-evaluate our newbies who are feeling tense on their first go. This is something we feel very strongly about, as we know dogs, like people, can have good and bad days. I would love to have your dog revisit us for another Social Evaluation so we can see how she does with some more time warm up. I also welcome you to reach out at jillian@districtdogs.com if you have additional questions of feedback. I would love to know what we can do to provide the experience you should have had on the first go. Kindly, Jillian, District Manager

Sara Elizabeth Dill: District Dogs succeeds once again! As a long time customer of their other locations, I was so happy to have my dog try out their brand new Clarendon location! Staff was incredibly friendly as always, and my dog seemed to recognize the layout and structure -- it did not feel like her first time. Clean, well structured facility and my dog came home happy (and tired) as always. District Dogs is truly the platinum standard when it comes to dog day care and boarding.

Abby Miller: Untrustworthy and shady business practices. Would not trust them with my dog again. We took our mini golden doodle here to get groomed and they charged us an extra $50 on top of the base price without any communication. They claimed the up charge is because doodles take longer to groom even though her entire appointment was 2.5 hours and the estimated grooming appointment time is 3-4 hours. Even if there is an up charge for doodles, this should have been disclosed when we dropped her off. I also talked to the groomer prior the appointment and explained exactly what I wanted. She completely ignore my requests and cut off almost all of the fur on my dog’s snout. So disappointed. I was really rooting for this place to be a nice addition to such a dog friendly community! Unfortunately, if they are dishonest with me about something as basic as pricing, I can’t trust them to care for my dog!
Response: Hi Abby, thank you so much for sharing your feedback. As I explained when you reached out to us directly and you acknowledged in our communication, your dog’s grooming price was $85+, and our website and printed materials state all prices are “BASE prices”. For very simple haircuts, prices rarely go beyond the base price. But for doodles, a breed known for having thick coats that require a a great deal of skill and patience to groom to completion, we do state on our website and our printed materials that dogs requiring extra care will incur an increased price based on each individual dog’s coat and cooperation. This information is also explained in the waiver you signed at drop off. Additionally, I apologize for what seems to be a detractor for your family, but I have never had a client complain about a grooming appointment being faster than anticipated. Our groomers are skilled professionals who work hard to provide a specialized service for our clients and deserve to be paid what they are worth. We are committed to providing fair wages for our team, and we are committed to transparent pricing, which is why we communicate our pricing structure in the way we do. Thank you again for your feedback, and we hope you find the correct groomer for your family; I will be happy to deactivate your account in our system.

Danielle Walker: The best grooming experience ever and my pup agrees. Alisa was excellent!

Jupiter Cronus: BEST PLACE EVER

Nicki Escalante: So far I think this place is a good fit for my pups! The staff is very friendly and I love that I can peek in on the cameras to see how my babies are doing. My dog Buddy is very timid around men due to a previous history of abuse and I saw him on the camera sitting on the lap of one of the guys working (I think his name is Joe) getting some ear scratchies, which is HUGE because he’s very selective about men he likes. This is very telling to me that the staff are good people and are kind to all the dogs because like I said, my dog doesn’t snuggle up with just anyone!! Update 7/3: I also booked grooming appointments with Alisa for the first time last week and my dogs looked and felt great! It was a little bit on the higher end price-wise, but I was happy with the job done. I’m kinda picky with deshed jobs and Alisa did a very good job on my chihuahua. He’s small but he sheds like a large dog. Whatever shampoo she uses has a very soft smell that isn’t overpowering which I really liked! I think my dogs enjoyed their spa day according to their photo :)

Casey Murphy: We dropped our dog off at approximately 3:30 PM. We planned for a standard 4-5 hour grooming time. Our dog was not finished until 10:30 PM, after nearly 7 hours of waiting. District Dogs should not schedule additional appointments if they can not complete them in a reasonable amount of time. Furthermore, despite our requests to leave his distinctive long hair, the groomer cut him close all over his body. It does not appear they made any effort to use a longer guard on the clippers or to maintain the style of his coat at all. We are fully aware that dogs with curly hair sometimes develop mats that necessitate shaving--this was not that. They cut him close across his entire body. The receptionist informed us that the long wait time was a result of the groomer working on our dog between other appointments. With a few extra minutes of de-matting, or at least a longer clipper guard, it would not have been difficult to maintain the look of the dogs coat. For the substantial cost of this grooming appointment, we expected at least some effort to maintain the dog's coat and style and a reasonable pickup time.
Response: Hi Casey, thank you for sharing your feedback. I was able to follow up with our General Manager and Rowan's groomer regarding this experience. While we do estimate 4-5 hours for completion of a grooming appointment, this estimate is for adult dogs who are used to being groomed regularly. This was not the case for Rowan, as he is just a puppy at 8 months old, and unaccustomed to the grooming process, which can be very overwhelming. Rowan was experiencing a lot of anxiety throughout his groom, and as a professional who abides to a Fear Free philosophy, your groomer, Alisa, went very slow with Rowan, pausing her work often to give him breaks to calm down. Additionally, as Alissa told you at drop-off, Rowan was extremely matted, to the point that his coat came off in a solid pelt as it was shaved off of his body. Removing extensive matting requires slow and steady movements and frequent breaks to avoid exacerbating the skin sores that are caused by the tightly matted fur. Because he was so matted, it is not physically possible to use a longer clipper guard. It would be like using a longer human clipper on a dreadlock and expecting the hair to instantly detangle itself; it simply isn't possible. This is why he is closely shaved all over, as it was the only thing our groomer could do to free him of the matting that covered his torso and limbs. Alisa did her very best and was able to save fluff on Rowan's head and tail. She was also more than happy to stay 1.5 hours past closing time working on Rowan to ensure he still looked super cute with his summer cut, and making sure his experience with District Dogs was a calm and happy one. I am incredibly sorry that my team was not more communicative about the timeline for Rowan's grooming appointment; we always strive for crystal clear communication, and this is something I will be speaking to my team about. But due to his age, anxiety and coat condition, there were several factors that caused his time to go so severely over and for us to be unable to accommodate the haircut you requested. If a consistent brushing schedule is kept up at home, I am confident Rowan's next spa day will be much quicker and will provide the results you were expecting this time around. Kindly, Jillian, District Manager

Kelly Keeler: We use Affectionate Pet for daycare and boarding. When we started, our dog needed help socializing (who didn't after Covid?!). They were very good with her and worked with her. She's made huge improvements. I do wish they had an option for online booking but emailing or calling isn't too bad. Do reserve early - they book up for both daycare and boarding.

Suzi L: Maria Hoffman takes amazing care of my aging disabled dogs!! They’re a handful for sure but I feel really good leaving them in her hands. They love her too. She’s very reliable and sends me pictures of them when she’s visiting. Love it!!

Melanie Odria: We love this place! My dog gets tired when he comes back from daycare. The staff at this place is wonderful and such a delight to work with. I recommended this place to a lot of my coworkers and they to love it!

Faiad Shaban: First time mini Labradoodle I will update with pics however first impressions are awesome. They have a great staff. Very responsive and the babies are not caged while they wait. Great pricing, definite recommendation

Nick Milton: We love Affectionate Pet Care. We have used them for over ten years and multiple dogs.

Kelley Baskin: My dog loves going here and Stacy is so good at grooming him (mini poodle mix) but every time he’s at daycare he comes home smelling like urine. He’s white so you can literally see the yellow patches of urine on him. Also he’s gotten kennel cough from there before and after a recent 2 day boarding visit he came home with conjunctivitis in his left eye. It’s just not worth boarding or bringing him to daycare there. Besides the front office staff could be friendlier; they’ve gotten worse over the years.

Allison Wachter: My dog Lilly has been going to Affectionate Pet Care since she was 4 months. She loves it there. We do daycare several times a week and have done boarding and grooming. I have been satisfied with each. When your dog can't wait to run in the door, you know they must be doing something right! Only complaint--I wish I could see the dogs playing. Either photos (when boarding), viewing area or live video feed. You can get reports on your dogs day that tell you who they played with, but you don't know the type of dog.
Response: Thank you so much for your 5 Star review. We adore Lilly and so happy to have her a part of our Playgroup. You can sign up for "Pawtography" and we will post photos of Lilly on Facebook. We can also provide more details on her report card. We are hope to provide live feed in the future. Thank you for the suggestion and feedback.

Meghan May: Please don't bring your dog here. I spoke with an associate in May to book my dog for boarding the weekend of my wedding in August. They said I was all set and just needed to book a behavior evaluation for her which made sense. They recommended waiting until a couple weeks prior to boarding. I brought her Monday and they said she was quiet and didn't want to play with the other dogs (I later realized they had all the dogs outside and it was no exaggeration, 99 degrees out). So they wanted to have her do doggy day care for a day and then make a decision if she was "safe for boarding" (she goes to the dog park and has play dates with her doggy friends all the time but definitely has separation issues). I was okay with that - brought her for doggy day care today. I was a little nervous so they said they would give me a report card of how she did at the end of the day. I came to pick her up and they said they have no record of the boarding request for August, already have too many dogs scheduled and can't accommodate her. No apologies, no offer or discount for me literally wasting my money this week for the sole purpose of boarding her and it's now 3 weeks before my wedding and no one to watch my dog. To make matters worse there was no report card and no one could comment on how my dog did all day while I was at work for 9 + hours. Would never bring my dog here again.

cammie: Affectionate pet care? More like abusive pet care. DO NOT bring your pets here. A former worker has told me they treat your pets badly. They don’t follow specific instructions with aggressive dogs. They treat their overnight shift terrible and overcrowd your dogs in the rooms. There was a disabled dog that was not handled correctly and was stuck in its spot because it was paralyzed. The former worker has so many other stories about how they treat your pets. PLEASE DO NOT BRING YOUR PETS HERE if you believe they deserve the best possible care.

Melissa P: This place has been a blessing to us! We have a deaf mini aussie with probably isolation issues. He hates being left home alone crated or not, alone or with our two other girls, he would bark till no end. We were worried he wouldn't be accepted here because of his disability but we wanted to socialize him. They did his testing and when our fur baby was in the back playing with the other doggies, they called us to go see thru a little window they have outside (COVID precautions) which I think it's great because we got to see how he felt at easy and had no anxiety. We left him the first day and when we picked him up they gave us his "report card" and I just fell in love how detailed they are and he was so happy and exhausted! The staff is always so nice, they maintain COVID precautions by not letting too many people on the lobby when picking up the fur babies, they always have a nice demeanor when interacting with people. We have boarded our baby too and they have an I take session so we go over everything with them and they also give us a report card when we pick him up. It's the only place where our baby can have a bath and his nails trimmed without issues because with us he screams bloody murder so we love them. Highly recommend them.

Bark + Boarding: what do users think?

Barbara “Bobbi” Farley: My dog loves it here! That I brought her for doggie daycare several times, and she's always excited to go in, she runs right up to the staff members, and comes home happy and tired. The facility is very clean, the staff are professional and dedicated. Pet parents don't even need to make an appointment for just daycare, so I can just drop her off in the morning quick and easy. Their prices are also very reasonable.

Adam Nodjomian: My dog Minnie always has a great time at Bark + Boarding. The staff take good care of her and I love seeing the pictures of her they post online.

Borislav Komarovskiy: My dog, a spoiled little sh*t, loves this place. Recently stayed for two weeks boarding and coaxed me into adding a personalized (meaning away from other dogs) daily enrichment session (meaning a kong of treats just for her). She got washed before I picked her up so she doesn't even smell. Worth every cent.

Kathryn Beale: My dog went to B&B for over a year for daycare and we absolutely loved it! He ran in every day and wasn’t ever ready to leave and greeted all the staff on the way out. Truly such a wonderful experience and a very easy place to leave your doggo without any worries! The only complication is getting in and out of the parking lot and the surrounding area can be a bit wonky. But not a concern about B&B, just where the location is. Also love they they have grooming 7 days a week, which is a rarity and super convenient for regular daycare goers. The groomer always did an excellent job and did exactly what we wanted - and most importantly, my dog was never scared to go back! We were extremely sad to move away and have to leave but highly highly recommend.

Matthew Booker: Bark and boarding is hands down the best doggy day care I’ve had the pleasure of taking my pup too. STAFF: The staff were extremely patient even though I kept asking them questions they had already answered. They took the time to help me navigate their plethora of options and find the right one that met my financial and day care needs. I ended up choosing the top dog unlimited membership as it was the cheapest overall for what I needed and afforded me the flexibility to board when I have last minute work trips. FACILITY: Although I have not actually been in the back, they often have live feeds and post multiple photos of the pups through out the day. The facility looks very nice and promotes engagement with other pups or allows them to just relax and hang out. There is always a staff member back there interacting and monitoring the pups to ensure a safe environment for everyone. Lastly, this is one of the only places I could find that has an actual outdoor area for the dogs. Add-ons: B&B offers a ton of options for grooming or training that is reasonably priced. I’ve only used the bath option which is included in the membership (1 wash a month) and Athena comes out squeaky clean. You’ll definitely have to check them out. NEGATIVES: I only have one which is the wait time for an evaluation can be a bit long. Honestly though this is kind of a good thing because it means they’re taking the time to really ensure that your pup will be comfortable and it also ensures the dogs already there are getting a friendly and not aggressive playmate. Overall: Athena leaves everyday satisfied and completely wiped (she’s a 2yo GSD so this hard to do)! I highly recommend this business to any one who has to travel or has long work hours. Your pup is sure to enjoy any amount of time they spend there and you can have peace of mind knowing they’re having a blast. Don’t take my word for it though, give ‘em a call and check it out for yourself.

Jen V: I bring my dog here a couple times a month for daycare, which has helped her separation anxiety. I do love how b&b has acess to both indoor and outdoor space for my dog. They do "report cards" if your dog needed a behavior corrected or timeout. My dog always gets excited when i pull uo to the building.

Elizabeth Margaret Hughes: My dog (a fluffy airedoodle) came home with a fully shaved down body after we had specifically requested to have a very light cut. He also seemed very anxious and uncomfortable when we picked him up. That was later confirmed when he had an accident in his crate (which never happens) and had loose waste later that day. I don’t know what they did to him or fed him, but overall, not a good experience at all.

Doug Quaid: Great place. The staff are some of the most caring, positive, dog lovers I've ever met. Our dog always comes home so happy and sleeps so well at night (something we really like). They can do daycare and overnight care if you're on a trip. It's a popular place and as a dog owner my entire life I recommend this place.

Katie: I haven't been inside yet (due to COVID), but thus far I am very happy with Bark + Boarding! I take my 6-month old puppy here 1-2x per week for now so he can socialize and get ready for when I go back into the office. I love watching him on Facebook live and seeing his photos throughout the day. He always looks happy and seems to be having a great time. I did quite a bit of research before deciding on a day care and I chose Bark + Boarding because they have great packages, an outdoor area, will feed him his lunch, staff has been nothing but friendly, they have convenient hours and I love the $20 weekend deal offer. Would highly recommend!

Junaid Chaudhary: Over the course of year 2021, we requested in home visits for our two cats. The service was always convenient and really came in handy in emergencies, the most important thing being the open communication between us and the person assigned for the visit. We would have likely continued their service except that we moved away.
