Patrick's Pet Care - Columbia Heights: what do users think?

Jack Zietman: I don’t have enough good to say about Patrick’s Pet Care. Our small dog loves everyone there—human and dog—and the staff engage warmly, playfully, and attentively with her and all of the dogs. Our dog has been through the Day Care 101 program and now regularly attends Doggie Montessori School; she also goes to Patrick’s for grooming and some additional training. I can’t imagine sending our dog anywhere else—Patrick’s is just wonderful.

District Dogs Shaw: what do users think?

Bailey Cage: I used district dogs for grooming my medium-size, rough-coat border collie. She got a bath with add-ons like a blueberry facial and a trim of her feathering. My sweet pup looked wonderful and seemed happy! They even had a cute welcome sign with our names on it. Everyone working there seemed kind and the groomer was knowledgeable and helpful. I felt like pricing was about average for DC, but I also felt like they did a better job than other groomers in the area that I’ve tried. Attempts to get a good photo were not very successful, but I’ll definitely be using them for grooming going forward.

Lyssa McEachern: The groomer Shake turns my doodle Scout into a masterpiece! Her scissor work is amazing and she truly loves and cares for every dog she grooms. Carissa is an amazing trainer and I would be lost without her teachings from adult basics with my dog Boo! The staff here - Jill, Connie, Elvis, and Paige - go above and beyond and love all the daycare pups!

Scott Oslick: There aren’t enough superlatives in the dictionary to adequately convey how much my Australian Labradoodle Winston and I love District Dogs, Shaw. I’ve been taking Winston to day care at the Shaw location 3 - 4 days a week since it first opened. He was a puppy at the time and now he’s 2 years old. He’s always excited to go in and play with his friends, and he LOVES the special attention from all of his human friends who keep the facility running smoothly and clean. Winston gets super excited as soon as he’s within two blocks of the building! That tells me all I need to know! I also highly recommend the boarding and grooming services at Shaw. Top notch and I get so many compliments on his haircuts! District Dogs, Shaw treats us like family and we feel the same about them!

M Wil: Positive: Professionalism, Quality, ReliabilityDistrict Dogs Shaw does a great job with dog care. Their staff are friendly and accommodating, and they treat each dog like a valued guest! They also offer haircut and other services that are awesome. Shake has given my dog perfect cuts on several occasions. I highly recommend this business!

Talia Orencel: Shake is the best groomer in town! She always does the best job with our sheepadoodle. We like to give our dog the ultimate treatment whenever we go, and Shake is so good with her! She comes back so happy and energetic. I love that they put bows in her hair too! Best experience with the grooming! I personally didn’t love the boarding, but that is because I don’t love that they up charge for outside time. I think all dogs should get some outside air at least once a day rather than be cooped up inside. That just isn’t the best vibe for my puppy. However, the service at DD is great, just not my style or preference of boarding, and a bit expensive. Still I think this place deserves 5 stars!! We love DD grooming!!

Darcy R. Jackson: This was our first time coming to District Dogs Shaw, and we are so happy with our experience! Jillian fit us in last minute when we needed a place for our German Shepherd to stay the night and we are so thankful she did! Our dog came home happy as could be and smelling amazing after a nice bath. The report cards they send are so fun to read and we loved getting pictures of our girl while we were away! From beginning to end we were treated extremely well, my dog had a blast, and I would happily recommend this establishment to anyone and everyone. We will definitely be coming back again soon!!

Dogtopia of Downtown D.C.: what do users think?

Paterson Wolfgram: I just want to give a shout out to the employees that work the front desk. I haven’t met the manager in person but the employees are out of this world amazing. I had someone steal my house key so I had to drop my babies off for an emergency boarding and day care and the staff made me feel so comfortable and at ease. They are able to feed them, give them probiotics, and snuggle them while I deal with our home situation. I hope the manager has a good heart and pays these people well

Caroline Jones: I don’t usually write reviews but want to help others looking for a daycare place for their pups since it can be hard to figure out — our experience with Dogtopia after just 2 days of daycare has been great. They asked lots of questions about my young puppy and introduced him gently to the crates/play room/other dogs. The staff were clearly excited to meet him and seem really invested in all their clients. The rooms have windows and a bit more space and the staff walk around the room constantly, engaging with the dogs as needed — all of these things have not necessarily been the case at other places, so I really appreciate these features. They also texted me a picture and update about my puppy when I asked how his first day went, which was awesome. Their pricing and location are good, too.

Flavia Milano: People working at Dogtopia Downtown DC are very, very nice. I trust they take a good care of our beloved doggie.

courtney mims: We love Dogtopia and are so happy that DC has a location in downtown. The workers are really nice. The price is good and the camera feature is the best part. We love to watch them play with friends all day.

Happy Paws LLC: what do users think?

Martha Johnson: I really appreciated being able to leave my daughters Westie at Happy Paws while I was dog sitting for a few days and also needed to go to work. The owner, Stefanie, set up a time when I could bring Max by to see how he would do and after observing him with the other dogs for a few minutes, she let him stay for the day. Max has not had a lot of interaction with other dogs and after a few days at Happy Paws, he seems much calmer and well behaved. Stefanie offered several training tips which have been extremely helpful. She even let me bring him at the last minute when I needed to extend my dog sitting commitment - my daughter was in labor and was delighted to be able to watch Max being so well cared for on the live stream camera, which helped take her mind off things! Thank you Stefanie, Devin and the entire Happy Paws team for helping us get through a difficult week and for giving Max such good attention! He’s doing great with the new baby, btw.

Leah Getsinger: Stefanie and the entire crew at Happy Paws take the absolute best care of my pup who has terrible separation anxiety and can’t be left alone for long periods of time. They provide a safe, local option and always do their best to accommodate last minute requests. It’s not cheap, but you definitely get what you pay for in terms of quality with this spot. Great extended hours drop off and pick up options, with various package deals so you get the most bang for your buck. Highly recommend!!

Margo Judge: I have always taken my cues from my dogs. I’ve had 4. All very big. All different personalities. My current love is 118lb Yogi who is the neighborhood therapy dog. He just makes everyone feel better. When I first took him to Happy Paws, ( he has boarded where he was born, and where they spend the day outside, so he’s used to being around other dogs) it was to see how HE would take to being in a a smaller indoor space around lots of dogs. Long story short—he let me know! He loved the people and he had a lot of fun with puppies and larger dogs. He’s also very Zen, so this works for him. Not all dogs will feel the same way, so it certainly depends on your dog. Having said that, the staff is very conscientious and warm. What I like most is that you can watch your pooch whenever on the CAM. And any concern you have, they are there to address. Happy Paws takes great care to keep their space very clean. As much as Yogi would lay at my feet while I work, the stimulation he gets from being and moving around other Paws is invaluable for his mental, emotional and physical health. Dogs are just like humans. They need connection. Positive connection. Happy Paws has done that big time for Yogi. The rest of the time you can find Yogi outside Starbucks on Livingston Street NW, giving hugs to other humans who really need to connect at this time. So—I give 5 Stars to Happy Paws, knowing full well that it is expensive. But my dog is in a happy, loving and safe environment and that is priceless to me— Thank you Happy Paws for being Yogi’s happy place especially in the heat, this summer! Margo Judge Young Adult Life Coach

C Calkins: We have taken our dog to Happy Paws for over 10 years for mostly day care but also, occasionally, for boarding and recommend them highly. The management and staff work tirelessly to provide a safe, clean, and bright environment for the dogs in their care and are very understanding about accommodating reasonable individual pet needs. When checking in on the camera, I often see the staff sharing affectionate interaction with the dogs in their care. Also, the team members are very courteous and caring with their pet parent clients.

Michele Lurie: I discovered Happy Paws 6 months ago and I have loved this place since i first stepped in. The care, knowledge, positive energy and love given to our dog Milo has been inspiring and so comforting. Milo plays and socializes non stop all afternoon and comes home happy, healthy and ready to rest. Stephanie the owner and her amazing team Devin, Eric...to name a few, have truly been a life saver for me. Happy paws is so clean and they are so caring and also very flexible. I am so grateful that my puppy Milo and my family have them in our life. I would recommend happy paws to anyone looking for doggie daycare. Thank you Stephanie !!

Janet Taylor: I have been taking my dogs to Happy Paws for over 10 Years. They do a wonderful job. What is most impressive is that many of her employees stay year over year. I think that is a testament on not only how the owner treats the dogs, but the peeps who work for her

Patrick's Pet Care - Brookland: what do users think?

Alyse Mineroff: I brought my nervous Samoyed in for grooming and was thrilled with the quality of the fear-free grooming program they have at Patrick’s. They took all of the steps at my dog’s pace and made her feel comfortable along the way. My dog’s comfort was my top priority and they put lots of effort into making sure this was a positive experience for her. They provided me with a detailed report of how they did each step and how she felt about each part of the process. We will definitely be back!

Katt Aubry: Pluto absolutely adores Patrick’s Pet Care, and so do we! We have gone a couple of times for their fear-free grooming, and Rebecca’s attention and care for Pluto has been wonderful. We had been in contact with Emma for a couple of months as we wanted Pluto to join the Montessori school when he turned 6 months. We just started taking Pluto for daycare and the experience has been amazing. He was welcomed for an assessment, and Emma asked us about any goals we had for Pluto. She informed us that we could watch through their cameras all day as Pluto played with the other pups and participated in enrichment activities with Patrick’s Pet Care staff. Emma gave us a call midday to give us an update on Pluto which is something we never get at any other places. After the day was through, Emma talked to us for a while about Pluto’s experience, and provided an extremely thorough and illuminating report card with absolutely adorable photos of Pluto having a great time all day. According to the report, he performed really well except for during the dogs’ structured downtime. Pluto had a hard time settling down, especially with no humans around to comfort him. No surprises there - it’s something we’ve wanted to work on with Pluto. As a result, Emma recommended that Pluto work with Joe at Daycare 101 before he joins the full daycare program. She helped us secure an appointment for that the very next day, and Joe went right to work with activities to help Pluto become more accustomed to settling down when he’s by himself. When we went to pick up Pluto, Joe talked us through what they did, what worked, and he wants us to practice with Pluto at home. He also provided his own thorough report card and a video report, as well as some cute pics of Pluto in action. We anticipate that Pluto’ll probably need a few more weeks of 101 before he “graduates” to the full daycare class. We’ve been promised a graduation cap when he’s finally ready :) All in all, we are so thrilled to be working with Patrick’s Pet Care to give Pluto the enrichment, care, and training that he needs to be the best dog that he can be. We’re so excited to keep working with the entire Patrick’s Pet Care team. Thank you to everyone at Patrick’s who shower all the pups with so much love!

Angela Washington: Patrick’s is a leader in the DC community. I’ve been to the gamut of conventional doggie daycare places and they are the best. The truly individual attention my pup receives gives me peace of mind while at work. The personalized video report cards and photos at daycare also give me a chance to see just how joyous his day was. You can really tell that dog development is their passion. It comes through in the quality of service and great care they take with your dog family. So happy to have found them!

Atlas Doghouse: what do users think?

Brittany McChesney: My dog Lou is an anxious boy who can’t handle kennels or crates, so Atlas came to our rescue. Fighting DC traffic is EASY knowing that Lou will be taken care of while I’m working. Not to mention, when I had a car break-in/emergency happen at home, Atlas accommodated the delays in me being able to pick Lou up on time. They were generous, understanding, and truly a source of calm for me on an otherwise very stressful day. I am grateful for them and they have earned a lifetime customer in me!

Adam Mason: Atlas Doghouse is a fantastic place for any size pup! For our young (>1 year) French bulldog it’s been a place to socialize and learn crucial dog skills that help at home. In addition, having Thomas the trainer out to help us be better dog parents and give our dog the proper information so he knows what we need from him was a huge help! Highly recommend the doghouse and getting training!

Jeff: My partner and I are new to the area and it was really important to us to find a place that can take care of our two big dogs as we are frequently out of town. We both have pretty high standards for doggy daycare, and Atlas has exceeded our expectations! The staff are so welcoming and friendly, and it’s clear they really care about each dog that comes in. They’ve gotten to know our dogs’ personalities and share stories about them when we pick them up. One of our dogs has allergies, and the staff are very attentive and always make sure he gets separate treats. Atlas also makes scheduling really easy through their app or by calling. Even though space is limited, they always try to accommodate us. Recently we traveled for Thanksgiving and had to board our dogs, and Atlas was full by the time we called. They put us on the waiting list and kept us constantly updated, knowing we were in a tight spot. Somehow, space opened up and they called us immediately and got us in. It really felt like they did everything they could to make sure our holiday went smoothly. And we were so thankful! Finally, Atlas does great with the space they have. They don’t use cages and the dogs have beds to rest in. Staff are always closely supervising the dogs. The dogs seem to have a great time in the indoor space. Our boys always come home happy and exhausted! In all, we couldn’t be happier we found Atlas here in DC. And a shout out to Stephanie, who always goes the extra mile to make our boys feel special!

Chad Nieboer: You can trust Atlas Doghouse with your pup and the guidance they give. I was on the brink of having to return my rescue and needed to board him until I could finalize the arrangements. A 30 minute conversation with the owner, Danny, and his counsel put me on the path to keep my new family member, Buddy. Since that day in 2018, Buddy and I have grown and learned together and Atlas is with us every step of the way.

anfal ali: I reached out to Atlas for their one on one training services. Prior to I had gone through a few trainers and I did not want to sign up for those super expensive one time training sessions with no guarantee. Thomas was a miracle worker honestly. Benny went from a sweet fluffy 15 pound puppy to a 60 pound 6 month terror! Was just unmanageable and overwhelming to deal with outside our home. In the house, he was the sweetest dog. We kept trying our previous trainer’s method and it was just not working to modify his behavior at all. I was pretty frustrated and super stressed taking him outside for walks. Everyone in the building was scared of him, it was just generally not a good time in our home lol. Thomas sat down and explained everything for the first 30min, and then we went on a walk. I can honestly say I watched my dog transform. It was such a weight off my shoulder, within an hour he was more manageable, well behaved, and calm. Then I would walk him and Thomas would give me pointers. Thomas made it VERY clear this was a one and done training session, not an on going saga of just handing over your money. He trained you and showed you the tools he uses. You are expected to do the work after that. He does offer follow up sessions if you are having specific problems. Which we did! He was great following up to see how things have progressed and when I had an issue he came right back, which I appreciated alot! I can honestly say Benny is a new dog and I feel much more in control and confident about handling him. Ive recommended Thomas to strangers on the street who have the same look I had when my dog was barking, lunging, pulling and not listening.

Jeremy Silas: We love Atlas. Our dog does daycare and also did training with Thomas. Our training sessions were very helpful and our pup has gotten much less reactive. Definitely recommend!

Brianna McCormack: AMAZING! The best dog daycare in DC. I cannot believe it has taken me this long to write a review. Atlas is so accommodating, friendly, and communicative. I need several treats to lure my dog away because she never wants to leave when I go to pick her up. My dog has been coming here since she was about 6 or 7 months old, and she is now a year and a half. If your dog has any kind of disability or special needs and you are nervous about leaving them somewhere where you arent 100% sure they will be accommodated, you should have no worries here. My dog is deaf, and blind in one eye, and uses sign language to communicate. The staff has taken the time to learn hand signals and communicate how she understands, which has helped both my dog and me trust them. Stephanie in particular is just the best. My dog is quite literally obsessed with her and she loves it. They do not have live camera feeds- BUT if you ask to see footage of them when you arrive to pick up, they have the cameras right at the front desk and you can take a peak. I also want to mention that my dog was snapped at by a possessive dog on the first day I had tried the daycare. Of course we know this can happen at any dog daycare- the important thing is how the situation is handled. Their protocol and actions were overly communicative in the best way. I got pictures of her via email, an entire summary (paragraphs) of what happened, a video of the incident, and they informed me that the dog that had snapped at her was put on hold from daycare until their possessive traits about toys/other items was under control. In the video, it took the room attendant less than 3 seconds to run over and break up the incident. My dog had such minor bleeding, by the time I picked her up you couldn’t even tell anything happened. She was all smiles, tail wagging, and slept for the entire night and half of the next day! Lol. A situation like that and how they handled it is worth me trusting them with my girl all day! PS on your dogs birthday they literally put party hats on them and give them treats in the shape of a heart. How adorable.. Recommend 100000%! :)

Andy Bradley: I can’t say enough great things about the staff at Atlas Vet. Danny does a great job with the facility and Thomas has conducted multiple training sessions with my dog that have been so helpful.

Joe Weissfeld: Great place for boarding, daycare, and training. Thomas (the trainer) was great with our puppy Max, a pandemic puppy with separation anxiety - as we prepare to return to the office. His approach is to give you all the tools you need in one session and is available to answer follow up questions by texts after. A cost-effective approach, especially considering how effective he was as a trainer. Highly recommend..

Dog-Ma: what do users think?

Elizabeth Sullivan: Been bringing my golden here since she was 6 months old (she’s 4 now) and she loves it! Both for daycare and boarding. The team at Dogma is awesome.

Allison Murphy: My 2yo rescue dog loves going to Dogma. She goes 1-2x a week for daycare, and I’ve boarded her there for weekend trips. She can get a bit overwhelmed by other dogs sometimes, and the Dogma staff are great at bringing her in for quiet time and belly rubs in the office when she needs a break. Every staff member knows her by name, and the business is extremely responsive. They also check the dogs thoroughly and have alerted me if they see anything odd (like a recent rash on her belly that I hadn’t even noticed).

Akailah Jenkins: Positive: Professionalism, Quality, Reliability, ResponsivenessCan’t say enough great things about this place! The staff is warm, welcoming and responsive. They know and always remember my pup. Not to mention, he LOVES it there! One of his favorite places on earth. He comes back happy and exhausted. Would definitely recommend to anyone.

Ashley Douglass: We got our puppy during the pandemic and I feel like dog-ma is the reason he is so good around other puppies. He loves going here and he is absolutely exhausted once we bring him home because he gets to run and play to his hearts content here.

Gregory Moran: Great doggie daycare with smooth morning and evening logistics. Prompt office admin scrubs like billing and email responses. However, it feels like the sheer volume of clients sometimes makes it difficult to offer a personal experience, like occasional proof of life pics during overnight boarding.

Dogtopia of Navy Yard: what do users think?

Melissa: I don’t think I could go to any other groomer after Dogtopia. The staff here were friendly and patient with Kodi and he came out of his appointment just two hours after I dropped him off looking and smelling wonderful. Gigi, especially, was very kind and patient with Kodi to ease his anxiety. I received updates and photos so that I knew Kodi was doing well and to make sure I was happy with his cut before she finished up. I was blown away with how great and affordable the service was. I will be continuing to walk down the street, past my former groomer, to get Kodi to Dogtopia for all his grooming needs—it’s far worth it.

Melissa Chapman: My dog LOVES when he goes to Dogtopia! The playroom is never crowded and has ample space for all the dogs. I love that the attendants in the room actually pay attention to the dogs - giving them pets and playing with them, while also making sure everyone is playing safe and the room is clean. The front desk staff are friendly and always excited to welcome my pup when he arrives.

Mary Anne Hanrahan: Dogtopia is great! Gigi is a caring and talented groomer and was so kind to my small, nervous dog. Appreciated that he was only there for 2 hours and came out looking great! Reception and communication is awesome as well. Very happy and highly recommend!!

Forrest Smith: We love Dogtopia of Navy Yard! Everyone there works with our active dog and he loves the staff. I couldn’t say enough positive to things. I also love that he can get groomed after a day of day care. He looked so handsome!

Peyton Sherwood: First time there this past week. They took great care of my dog Andy and had fantastic customer service. The staff were a delight and you could tell they enjoyed working with the pups. Will definitely be back again and again ❤️

Kirk Coleman: GiGi is the best groomer I’ve had! I have a moyen red poodle who needs grooming at least once a month, and GiGi always rises to the occasion! She’s always attentive to my dog’s needs and consistently gives him the best grooming service. My dog gets excited every time we go to Dogtopia because he knows GiGi will take care of him. Highly recommend!

Nick Thomas: My dog is not the best with haircuts but Dogtopia does the best job at making Murphy feel comfortable and getting the job done. Would recommend. 10/10

Colby's Dogcare & Spa: what do users think?

Colleen Turner: 10/10 overall experience! The owner (Michael) and his staff are so kind. You can tell they care about each individual dog as they’re able to speak specifically to how their day went (i.e. behavior, what they liked doing while there, etc). I was also welcomed back at pickup (which I assume isn’t the norm but can happen when it’s not too busy). This was really great as I was able to see just how clean and well thought out the space itself is. TL;DR: my dog leaves Colby’s with a huge smile on his face and some new friends, too! I highly recommend for your pet ownership needs.

Monica Ostrander: Colby’s has been a life saver for us. Our dog is very shy with people (loves to play with other dogs). I took him for an evaluation and they gave me great feedback and have been very kind and patient with my pup to make him comfortable. He went from hiding behind me to pulling the leash to go to daycare in a short few weeks. The owner Michael and his staff genuinely care about each dog and what is best for the dog. I also like their philosophy of giving the dogs play and and rest time. My pup comes home tired but in a good way. I also enrolled my pup in the adult manners training class, he has made a ton of progress and I couldn’t be more happy with a doggy daycare.

Cole Watson: Michael and the Colby’s team have been fantastic since their opening about a month ago. Our pup, Cooper, loves going to day care and he pulls anytime we walk past thinking that it’s time to go back. What a fantastic addition to the community - we look forward to the relationship going forward.

Michaela Sundermann: After a couple Rover nightmares, I found Michael at Colby’s Dogcare. And he has a client for life with me! He worked with me and my puppy to build the best schedule for her needs, and he’s always so pleasant to work with. He goes above and beyond (getting my dog special treats due to a stomach issue, reminding me to set out a towel when it rains, etc). Few people care so well for my furry friend. Plus - Michael sends updates and videos after every walk. If you’re looking for a walker, look no further. Can’t wait for the store front to open!

Corinne Nielsen: I’ve taken my dog here twice for the soft opening week after meeting the owners at a yappy hour in my apartment building. You can tell they genuinely care about the dogs and have put a lot of thought into their space. There are solo boarding rooms with tvs so your dog doesn’t feel alone. The rooms are spacious and staffed, and the best part is they’ll take you to come see your dog playing in the room so you can see the cleanliness and facilities, which is a first in my 4 years of taking my dog to a daycare. They also do grooming and helped my dog because he was shedding like crazy when I brought him. Clean and new facilities with people who really care about your dogs like their own. Happy to take him back again!

Luis Dog Camp: what do users think?

Hunter Demetriou: Best place in DC for dog day care/boarding. I moved out of the city, but used Luis Dog Camp for over 2 years with my dog. Luis and his team picked up and dropped off my dog every day, and were always reliable. It was very nice not having to worry about dropping off/picking up before/after work. Additionally, my dog was always exhausted upon returning. The prices are affordable compared to other day cares throughout the city and the service is fantastic.

Fanise Cannon: My dog has been going to Luis Dog Camp for over a year now. Luis Dog Camp offers pickup and drop off services and love each and every dog unconditionally! It’s affordable, convenient and they offer daycare, walks, and boarding. As long as I’m in DC we’ll be going to Luis Dog Camp!

Suzette Meade: Positive: Professionalism, Quality, Reliability, ValueI highly recommend Luis Dog Camp! My pup went to daycare daily and was always safe, well loved, and cared for. Luis and his staff always followed instructions and went the extra mile to look after my dog as if she was one of their own family. Thank you!

Katie Sheppard: Positive: Quality, Reliability, ValueI absolutely love Lui’s Dog Camp and am so glad I found them after adopting my dog. It is clear that Lui and the team genuinely love dogs and want them to have a great time when they come to daycare. They have been a huge help to me and I always recommend them to other dog owners I know.

Allison Lewis: Lui’s Dog Camp is a business run by dog people who prioritize the health and safety of animals. I have been sending my dog to their daycare program a few times a week over the past 4 months. Lui’s team makes a big effort to ensure the safety of dogs during transport. They keep a close eye on my dog and have demonstrated a culture of transparency and communication. For instance, Lui quickly gave me a call when one of the handlers noticed my dog threw up it my home. Lui is reachable over text and phone and responds quickly to schedule changes and other requests. I trust these guys and highly recommend their services.

Hanane Grini: My dog was living her best life here. I was nervous at first because I never left her in a daycare but the staff here was so welcoming and reassuring, they made me feel at ease. It’s a clean environment for dogs to socialize and play. I also appreciated the progress report I received at the end of the day and the pictures. We will definitely be back!

Jaime Effinger: We’ve tried a couple of different groomers. District Dogs was the first time that I felt like a groomer was receptive to how we wanted our dog groomed, and actually delivered. Our pup’s hair was cut just like we wanted and he looked great! Very reasonably priced as well.

Lisa: Sophia trained our beautiful Bernese Mountain Dog in the Adult Basic and Adult Advanced training classes. Sophia is the ultimate trainer! We also used the Spa and it is wonderful as well. Our puppy just gleamed and smelled wonderful! Thank you District Dogs at Navy Yard!

Takara Cunningham: Everyone was extremely friendly and professional! The staff made my fur baby and I feel welcomed and a part of their family immediately. I felt no hesitation with leaving my dog with them. I would definitely recommend District Dog to anyone whose looking for a safe place for their fur babies.

Michelle Majkut: My new puppy was a very nervous girl when she arrived in DC, but District Dogs has continuously provided opportunities for her to come out of her shell to become more social and comfortable with her other dogs and humans. We’ve attended Puppy Kindergarten (excellent option for puppies to first socialize), Yappy Hour social events (love to put her socializing skills to work), and most recently Structured Daycare. By far Structured Daycare has been the most perfect offering from DD for my pup - her very first day she was in a group with just 2 other small dogs and they got to play and learn commands together with an “attendant” alway there to ensure the dogs were all comfortable and appropriately playing. When I picked her up that day, it was the first time she walked out on her leash and then walked all the way home without getting scared or needing to be carried -her confidence and comfort was already apparent after just one day. I’ve seen some criticism of Structured Daycare about the dogs being in their crates for long times but I can assure you that after watching her entire day via webcam (yes, I’m THAT dog mom), she only spent ~30-45mins at a time in the crate next to her two new playgroup friends. While she is already crate trained, the pandemic has meant I’m home the majority of the time so she isn’t used to being crated during the day or while things are going on around her - so this was the perfect chance to get her comfortable in a crate outside of bedtime. We’ll be returning for a few more Structured Daycare days until she is ready for District Dogs’ regular daycare. 10/10 would highly recommend the classes, social events, and specialized daycare for anyone with a new dog who might be a bit timid, nervous, or just new to the city environment.

Katherine Moxley: I’ve been very happy with the services at District Dogs- Navy Yard. My puppy goes to daycare Monday-Friday and comes home happy and tired. She also gets groomed here which is super convenient! Everyone is very friendly and knows my pup by name. Definitely check them out!

Duncan Dog Hotel: what do users think?

Kristen Woodworth: My dog loves the Duncan! He has been going to daycare twice a week since they opened and loved it so far. The staff is always so welcoming and clearly love the dogs. They often send report cards with photos of the dogs, and also take them on regular walks included in the daycare price... a rare perk! My dog has also boarded for 5+ nights and it was a great experience. The staff sent updates and gave him a bath before I picked him up. Also had a great grooming experience which is not always the case for doodles. Definitely recommend the Duncan Dog Hotel for your pet needs!

Valencia Roach: My dog is not used to being away from me. He seems to have a great experience at Duncan Dog Hotel. They send me photos of him throughout the day. That helps me...knowing he is happy while I am away.

Cara Overweg: My dog is very shy around new people but Duncan is one of his new favorite places. As the return to office was imminent I was so thankful this place opened up to bring him a day or two a week. You can tell the staff love the dogs and I appreciate that they also get outside for a walk during the day. The report cards are the highlight of my day seeing what he did and who he played with. Highly recommend anyone with a pup to try out Duncan!

Emily Brown: I have been taking my dog to Duncan consistently since it opened and couldn’t be more impressed with the staff and how they treat my dog! She’s a very active pup and can be a handful at times, but they’re so patient with her and it’s the absolute best days of her week as she always comes home exhausted. I love that they take her outside for a walk and send out report cards so that I know what she did during the day. I’m so thankful for this place and highly recommend it to anyone!

Jessica Pudlo: This review is primarily for the grooming service: my dog bear has a LOT of fur and is difficult to groom, she’s an Akita/Aussie mix and has lots of fur! I have tried many grooming services in DC and have been so unsatisfied. This was the first groom in three years that was excellent. The groomer did an AMAZING job and took care of areas and things I didn’t even ask about!! I will mention the owner seems a little rough around the edges and isn’t the best with customer service but the care that Bear received from the staff and groomer was great. Will go again.

Macon Morrison: Do can Dog Hotel has a talented grooming and a great daycare facility

Tails of the City Pet Care: what do users think?

Joanna Ong: Great experience with Guadalupe! I hired her to walk my fearful reactive dog who avoided strangers to the point of paralysis. The goal was to get my dog to a point where housesitting when I travel for work could be possible. Within two weeks of daily walks, Guadalupe was able to retrieve and walk my dog on solo walks without me.

Shelley Thompson: We love Tails of the City! They are affordable and we get the best pics and updates from our dog walker (and portrait mode glamour shots!). Our shy girl has come out of her shell so much through her weekly walks with a group of other dogs through Tails of the City and has learned to play with other dogs at the dog park (previously she would just hang with the humans)! They are incredibly responsive in terms of scheduling and have a very easy client portal.

Denise Wales: We love Tails of the City! We use their dog walking and boarding services frequently. They take such good care of our pets and provide great customer service.

Jennifer: Great company! Have provided care for two of our pets over the last few years. Easy scheduling process and excellent communication with owners on how each visit goes.

Jonathan Spencer: Great service, trustworthy, and have attention to detail. They’re loving and competent care givers for all pets.

Quinn Tshudy: Tails of the City Pet Care goes above and beyond.

Kisha Tubman: Great place to cRe for your pets

patty Terrazas: Great people!!! Love it ❣️

Blue Dog Boarding & Daycare: what do users think?

Arnetta Fletcher: I love Blue Dog Boarding and have been a client since 2014 with 3 different dogs. We recently had our newest puppy stay for the first time over Christmas. During all of our stays, Blue Dog Boarding was responsive to our needs and reliable. Blue Dog has been especially helpful in providing accommodations during our abrupt change of plans. I appreciated their drop off service as I didn’t need to leave my car during drop off/ pick ups. My only concern is that Ada came back with a very strong “kennel” odor during her stay and had some dried feces on her fur. But it was nothing a nice warm bath at home couldn’t resolve. Update for clarity: Clients are able to schedule and pay for an exit bath as an additional service. But I was mostly referring to the overall condition my puppy was sent home. I wasn’t sure if the dried feces was hers or not and didn’t know I was carrying it home. If so, then I wonder what happened for her to have dried feces on her. Probably just better if I didn’t see it. Not a complaint but certainly a valid observation that I hope is taken into kind consideration.

Kenneth Carpenter: My dogs have always had a good experience at Blue Dog and the staff is excellent. At the most recent boarding, I was caught in an unexpected snow storm and I was going to be delayed picking up the dogs. I called to let them know of my delay and they reassured me of their continued care until I arrived and expressed their own concern for my safe driving. Now that’s special. I really appreciated that.

Elizabeth Dunn: I warmly recommend Blue Dog Boarding and Daycare. My son’s 5 year old rescue moved from Florida to Silver Spring, and his territoriality issues and clinginess ramped up to a sad degree. His weekly trip to Blue Dog has been transformative – he is better with other dogs, better with separating from us, comes home happy and tired, and my husband and I have a safe place where he is comfortable and can be boarded when we go out of town. Before registering with Blue Dog I had several conversations with staff about their set up, important because in this pandemic no one but staff enters the facility. Most of the building is a large open area divided by fencing that lets the dogs watch each other. The dogs wear paper collars so no one can get snagged or choked. There are no toys to fight over, but some climbing structures. The dogs are segregated generally by size, with a small area where a dog can go who wants to watch the other dogs but not be near them. You can get the doggy cam app, and it is a little addictive. You really get a sense of dogs as pack animals. If staff enters an area with a mop, most of the dogs run to the fence to watch, some get so excited they run in circles. Others are offended by the lack of attention and turn away in a huff. There’s generally some older dog snoozing in a corner. I was happy to find Blue Dog where the staff is knowledgeable, safety-conscious, and kind. Liz D. Silver Spring

Geraldine Crawford: Positive: Professionalism, ReliabilityMy dog Bucky always comes home from being groomed clean and happy. He is an Australian Shepherd and his coat is soft and free of mattes. They do a wonderful job of grooming. If I’m running late he’s able to go to doggie daycare and play for awhile.

K. Elizabeth Leamy: We have been sending our lab, Penny, to Blue Dog daycare twice a week since she was 16 weeks old. She gets so excited when she sees where we are going or of we ask her if she wants to "go see her friends." The staff is always so courteous and helpful, and is always accommodating if we have a last minute request. The hours are also great for my husband and I as we transition back to work in D.C. and need to change our schedule for drop offs and pick ups.

Aya Aljamili: I boarded my cat for the first time at blue dog boarding. She stayed for 6 days and I picked her up today. The owner Janette, and the team Celeste & Madeline were all super kind and caring. Helping me from the minute I called to book, dropping off, and when I called to check on my kitty. Excellent service and highly recommended, we’ll definitely book here again!

Karla Rodriguez (KRod): This was a great day care experience for my 2 dogs and myself. They loved the attention from the staff and got the interaction they needed with other dogs. I will definitely use this business very soon. I highly recommend this business.

E E: My dog Bella and I love this place. The staff is so caring and I always receive Bella back after a couple days boarding smelling good and looking happy. I trust them to watch my Bella time and time again.

Dogtopia: what do users think?

Jarret Kuhfahl: Visited many doggie day care facilities in the area and easily chose Dogtopia of Alexandria. Super clean facilities, not overly crowded, dog size segregation is spot on, spa facilities and service on premise. Everyone who works there is a true and true dog lover and I feel like my guy is always being well taken care of. They do have an outdoor run, the live stream web cams always work, and of course there is always an attendant in each room to quickly clean up any "doggie messes" and keep the pack in good play and monitoring any signs of rough or aggressive behavior. Moose gives it two paws up!

Hannah Schaefer: My dog loves coming to Dogtopia. Facilities are clean and staff is very friendly and helpful. Love that they have dog cameras you can access and watch your pet throughout the day. You can even send treats / snacks for your dog during their "crate time" from 12-2pm. Will do an assessment of all pups before allowing them to attend daycare to ensure it is a safe place for all. Overall would recommend this place and trust them for my very spoiled pup!

Samuel Byun: Marla, the General Manager, gave some thoughtful tips after the Meet&Greet. Ray, Connie, and Hailey do their bests so that Cola feels welcome. She has a blast whenever she goes there. Dogs are said to be undercover therapists, but even therapists need some downtime with their other furry friends... Highly recommend Dogtopia for their Woofffbulousness ( Woof + fabulous.)

Clay Friese: We have been taking our pup Fred here for a long time and the staff is phenomenal. I highly recommend getting your dog groomed here. The prices are not bad and the groomers are perfect. I have not used their boarding/ daycare services yet but I will use them in the future.

Krystal M: Friendly staff who comment on my dogs’ individual personalities each time I go. You can tell they love to get to know the dogs who are here.

DC DOG SITTER | 'Where All Pets Become Family!': what do users think?

Alexandra Dittmer: I have been using DC Dog Sitter to care for my Olive while I am away at work and I am SO HAPPY I CHOSE THEM!! They send the cutest pictures of Olive having tons of fun with them on her walk with messages about their time together!! They also make sure to follow all of my special requests which makes me feel Olive is very safe with them! They are also super kind and accommodating of my requests! They also sent the most adorable Christmas package for Olive and I with the cutest ornament of Olive!! DC Dog Sitter is a must have if you’re looking for reliable and loving pet care!!!

Elizabeth Baker: I’ve been using DC Dog Sitter since I got my puppy and I can’t say enough good things about their services! Jenn, the owner and her team are always communicative, accommodating, and have also offered me amazing advice. My puppy loves her two dog walkers, Gabby and Gina and I always feel that she is safe in their care. They update me with photos and a summary of the walk, which I love.

Mary Thompson: The best Pet Sitters on the East Coast!! Our dog jumps for joy when she sees the DCDS Team and heads out the door with barely a look back. If you can get over the feeling that your dog might prefer to be more with the DCDS Team than her own family - all is great! Here is a recent photo from her DCDS vacation while we were away. The team is awesome about keeping us up to date as well as providing great adventures. Jenn is also a wealth of information for nutritional tips and reducing your pets overall toxic exposure.

M. Mattison: I wish I could leave 10 stars. DCDS is bar none the best dog sitting service out there. What sets Jenn and company apart from everyone else is how much they cater to both you and your pet. Jenn and company are prompt and responsive with communication, and if you are pressed for time will pick up your pet and drop them off at the beginning and end of each stay. Each member of this group LOVES animals. They cater to any particular pet diets, provide specific home remedies for any pet ailments, and make sure that each stay is a pampered vacation for your pet. However, what truly impressed me about Jenn was how she worked with me when a family emergency extended my five-day puppy sitting in to five weeks. Jenn fed my baby on her own dime *not charging me*, took my little girl to extra puppy play dates, checked in with me to see how I was handling everything and was thoughtful and compassionate when I was completely stressing out. I can’t articulate enough how wonderful everyone was, going so far as to pick me up from the airport and leave me and my Scarlett a little goodie basket when I got home. I’ve used DCDS several times and don’t trust my fur baby with anyone else. If you are looking for a fantastic and loving group of people to take amazing care of your furry one, DCDS is it.

david hoag: We used DC Dog Sitter to take care of our cats while we were gone on vacation for a week. They were great! Very communicative, as they would send messages when they were on their way to our place, and then again after they had been there, providing alot of detail and photos of what they did while they were there. They took great care of our pets, and it gave us great peace of mind as we we away, that our pets were getting attention and well cared for. They followed our instructions to a T, including watering the plants as well as all the cat-related stuff, and they took pictures of the cleaned litter box, their food, and of course our cats during their visit. Very happy with this service in our first time using them.

Erin Matson: DC Dog Sitter is such a great small business! When we adopted our small terrier mix dog a year ago, she was nervous around new people and new dogs. The team at DCDS met her where she was at - taking the time to slowly introduce her to her walker and to other pups. Since lockdown, we’ve been sending our dog on Adventures with DCDS, and it’s been by far the best thing that happened to her. She has blossomed. She cannot wait every week for the DCDS team to pick her up and whisk her away for a few hours of awesome adventure. The staff are responsive - weekends, late nights, whenever we have a question or need to reschedule. DCDS has helped bring our dog out of her shell! Thank you to the DCDS team!

Jillian Campbell: Jenn and her entire team have been wonderful with our dog. They walk him every day during the week when we are at work and he goes on "adventures" on Thursdays. The adventures often consist of hikes, trips to local parks, and over the Summer lots of swimming. We also use DC Dog Sitter for sitting when we go away. Our dog has some special needs, but DC Dog sitter has been exceptionally accommodating and understanding. They are extremely reliable and I love getting numerous messages/pictures throughout the day on what he is up to. All of the dog walkers have been great and we have not had any issues. Jenn is great about communicating with us and is so knowledgeable about dog health and diet. She has been a great resource for us and has always gone above-and-beyond to answer any of our questions. I know my dog is safe and happy when he is in the care of DC Dog Sitter. I cannot give them higher praise.

Fatima Delante: Positive: Professionalism, Quality, Reliability, ResponsivenessThe team is really professional in handling pets, especially Jenn! She knows effective tips and tricks that I never knew I can apply on my pet. DC Dog Sitter goes above and beyond in caring for your furry companion!!

Wendy Gordon: My doggo and I have been using this service since our dog was a pup. We participate in Adventures. Such a wonderful program! Our dog loves it and he adores his team of walkers and canine friends he has met and plays with every time he goes out. It gives him socialization, exercie and a little training review--all of which is so helpful. The fact that I get a review and photos after each hike is fantastic as well. I love this service. Highly recommend.

District Dogs Clarendon: what do users think?

Annie Mahoney: We got a private training package wth Matt Revell for our reactive dog and it has been life-changing for us. Matt is very clear with instructions and our dog loved him. He is very attentive, helpful, and communicative. We will definitely be going back to him and District Dogs for more training.

Sara Elizabeth Dill: District Dogs succeeds once again! As a long time customer of their other locations, I was so happy to have my dog try out their brand new Clarendon location! Staff was incredibly friendly as always, and my dog seemed to recognize the layout and structure -- it did not feel like her first time. Clean, well structured facility and my dog came home happy (and tired) as always. District Dogs is truly the platinum standard when it comes to dog day care and boarding.

Danielle Walker: The best grooming experience ever and my pup agrees. Alisa was excellent!

Jupiter Cronus: BEST PLACE EVER

Nicki Escalante: So far I think this place is a good fit for my pups! The staff is very friendly and I love that I can peek in on the cameras to see how my babies are doing. My dog Buddy is very timid around men due to a previous history of abuse and I saw him on the camera sitting on the lap of one of the guys working (I think his name is Joe) getting some ear scratchies, which is HUGE because he’s very selective about men he likes. This is very telling to me that the staff are good people and are kind to all the dogs because like I said, my dog doesn’t snuggle up with just anyone!! Update 7/3: I also booked grooming appointments with Alisa for the first time last week and my dogs looked and felt great! It was a little bit on the higher end price-wise, but I was happy with the job done. I’m kinda picky with deshed jobs and Alisa did a very good job on my chihuahua. He’s small but he sheds like a large dog. Whatever shampoo she uses has a very soft smell that isn’t overpowering which I really liked! I think my dogs enjoyed their spa day according to their photo :)

Faiad Shaban: First time mini Labradoodle I will update with pics however first impressions are awesome. They have a great staff. Very responsive and the babies are not caged while they wait. Great pricing, definite recommendation

Bark + Boarding: what do users think?

Adam Nodjomian: My dog Minnie always has a great time at Bark + Boarding. The staff take good care of her and I love seeing the pictures of her they post online.

Kathryn Beale: My dog went to B&B for over a year for daycare and we absolutely loved it! He ran in every day and wasn’t ever ready to leave and greeted all the staff on the way out. Truly such a wonderful experience and a very easy place to leave your doggo without any worries! The only complication is getting in and out of the parking lot and the surrounding area can be a bit wonky. But not a concern about B&B, just where the location is. Also love they they have grooming 7 days a week, which is a rarity and super convenient for regular daycare goers. The groomer always did an excellent job and did exactly what we wanted - and most importantly, my dog was never scared to go back! We were extremely sad to move away and have to leave but highly highly recommend.

Matthew Booker: Bark and boarding is hands down the best doggy day care I’ve had the pleasure of taking my pup too. STAFF: The staff were extremely patient even though I kept asking them questions they had already answered. They took the time to help me navigate their plethora of options and find the right one that met my financial and day care needs. I ended up choosing the top dog unlimited membership as it was the cheapest overall for what I needed and afforded me the flexibility to board when I have last minute work trips. FACILITY: Although I have not actually been in the back, they often have live feeds and post multiple photos of the pups through out the day. The facility looks very nice and promotes engagement with other pups or allows them to just relax and hang out. There is always a staff member back there interacting and monitoring the pups to ensure a safe environment for everyone. Lastly, this is one of the only places I could find that has an actual outdoor area for the dogs. Add-ons: B&B offers a ton of options for grooming or training that is reasonably priced. I’ve only used the bath option which is included in the membership (1 wash a month) and Athena comes out squeaky clean. You’ll definitely have to check them out. NEGATIVES: I only have one which is the wait time for an evaluation can be a bit long. Honestly though this is kind of a good thing because it means they’re taking the time to really ensure that your pup will be comfortable and it also ensures the dogs already there are getting a friendly and not aggressive playmate. Overall: Athena leaves everyday satisfied and completely wiped (she’s a 2yo GSD so this hard to do)! I highly recommend this business to any one who has to travel or has long work hours. Your pup is sure to enjoy any amount of time they spend there and you can have peace of mind knowing they’re having a blast. Don’t take my word for it though, give ‘em a call and check it out for yourself.

Jen V: I bring my dog here a couple times a month for daycare, which has helped her separation anxiety. I do love how b&b has acess to both indoor and outdoor space for my dog. They do "report cards" if your dog needed a behavior corrected or timeout. My dog always gets excited when i pull uo to the building.

Junaid Chaudhary: Over the course of year 2021, we requested in home visits for our two cats. The service was always convenient and really came in handy in emergencies, the most important thing being the open communication between us and the person assigned for the visit. We would have likely continued their service except that we moved away.
