CYCLEBAR: what do users think?

natasha mazikins: i just had to come on here & say how amazing my first ride was at cycle bar in NoMa. lindsey was an incredibly warm and welcoming instructor who made it such a fun and challenging workout. the whole staff made me feel so welcome and eased all of the anxiety i had around taking my first ever cycling class. they even wrote a sweet little note on my locker… just so cute and so nice. looking forward to taking many more classes with lindsey, she’s a badass.

Ian Lever: Had a really positive experience here. Jacie and Lindsay were very welcoming to new riders and experienced riders alike. I also liked how they kept it cold in the workout room too.

Denise Morris: So good I bout a membership after my first ride! Staff are super encouraging and helpful

Salma Khalid: Just walked out of the class. Literally every bike in the room is taken. It’s like they haven’t even considered any capacity restrictions in light of runaway covid transmission

Garrett Gots: Never done a Cycle class before. Got a bike in the back row, watched what was going on and got a great work out. Now i try and go twice a week. Great instructors, great environment. Very happy with my membership. love the location.

Ally Bailey: I spin regularly and had the opportunity to take a complimentary class. I was one of the first attendees there since I knew I’d need to sign a waiver, etc. Getting my stuff put away was as simple as expected. When I got into the studio there were ladies resetting bikes and asked me to step out. I would recomend keeping the doors closed or eplaining to guests that they should wait to be called into the studio to avoid awkward interactions like that one. When we were eventually let in I found my bike, set it as I usually do, and needed help clipping in (these bikes are different than any others I’ve ever clipped into). I asked for help and the person who helped me told me I needed to change my settings so I don’t hurt myself, I tried to let her know I usually use these settings and she went into a safety conversation as if this was my first spin class ever. She lowered my seat, I told her I was uncomfortable but she said it was better this way. I stretched and spun a bit until the class instructor came over when I raised my hand to ID myself as a new rider to her class. She told me my seat was too low and I needed to come up. She raised me back to where I normally sit (which was a bit frustrating in that I knew I should have been at that setting origijnaly). It was a great class (shout out Lexi!)........ I’d recommend employee talking to class takers instead of talking at them. If the original person that “helped” me just took a moment to listen to me, she would have known that although this was my first class at this studio, I spin 6 days a week and know how to set my bike comfortably for me. I may go back, I may not.... the experience all in all didn’t seem like the most welcoming outside of the instructor.

CYCLED!: what do users think?

Sheila Lo Monaco: Cycled it’s without a doubt, one of the best cycling studios I have been. Everyone is friendly and helpful. The studio is clean and they offer towels. The bikes are new. The front desk greeting you by your name. The classes are excited and easy to book. The instructors are energetic and really makes you have awesome work out no matter the time of the day. I have classes with different instructors they are everything you expect and more. They offer rooftop ridings on spring/summer on their Silver Spring location and Barre classes. The Takoma location offers parking and tons of street parking.

Eric Reinke: I am a “traveling spinner” through my constant business travels. I have been to dozens of clubs all over the country, some good, some not so much. This is a really good one for several reasons: 1) Keiser Bikes, the best, smoothest spin bikes with the best metrics; 2) the instructors use the metrics to lead you, giving you gear ranges and rpm targets; sounds like common sense but you’d be surprised; 3) a water cooler and workout towels; not all clubs offer even one of these; 4) Adrienne, one of the great “Spincess’ “ I have encountered. Looking forward to my next visit to DC; having lived here, I haven’t always been able to say that!

Kim Kmi: Cycled is a fantastic studio. The owner, Shayla, makes everyone feel welcome no matter your skill level. The teachers are all friendly and professional, but not afraid to push you. I highly recommend Cycled.

Kara Terrell: Cycled! is most definitely my [local] happy place.

Roberta S White: Wired cycling classes provide riders with knowledgeable, fun, creative, and personable instructors. The class is like a community; family of sort: participants are welcoming, warm, and very encouraging. I wish they offered more classes: later times during the some week days/weekends. You should try it!

Erin B: Affordable, great bikes, upbeat music, and super knowledgeable instructors.

S J Stevens: Inexpensive, great instructors, friendly and good playlist

david davidson: Best spin class I have been to.

SoulCycle MTVN: what do users think?

Mike: Music is way too loud to the point where the instructor needs to scream for you to hear. Made the class unenjoyable. Had to leave the class to get earplugs. Not sure if people realize they’re doing permanent damage to their ears at classes like the one I was at tonight. I’d suggest to soul cycle management that they tone down the volume 10-15%. It’d make it more enjoyable for everyone.

Devon Ott-Barilli: Anthony Jr is an absolute gem and the only way I want to be woken up from now on. His 6am is incredible!!! 💛🚲

Amy Rowland: Awesome studio with amazing front desk staff and instructors. Very glad I found them and gave it a try!

Alice Li: Parking is a bit of a hassle unless you want to pay for the garage around the corner. But the workout is totally worth the hassle. It’s like a dance party on a bike. I happily pay that cover charge every time!

Kaitlyn Kirby: I love this convenient location close to my office and the instructors are amazing

Megan Wilcox: Great, judgement free cycling classes. My mom and I were on vacation and booked a cycling class to help make up for all of the amazing food we were eating. The instructors and staff were very nice and welcoming. They helped us set up our bikes and get off our bikes. The music is a little loud, but helps get you pumped up!

Jeena Rubio: I attended my first SoulCycle class with Cher. SHE WAS AMAZING! Loads of energy, kept it fun, great song flow. She kept up with the pace of the group. Pumping it up when needed and slowing it down when needed. The facility itself is very well kept, especially for all the furniture being white. The staff is very friendly & helpful. Not to mention my class was going to expire soon I gave them a call and they gladly extended it for me. Needless to say I WILL DEFINITELY BE BACK. LOVED IT.

SoulCycle Georgetown: what do users think?

Wingel Caburian: As someone who is VERY out of shape and intimidated by working out, Soul Cycle at Georgetown is very welcoming! My first class was the One Direction vs. 5SOS and I left feeling AMAZING! Thank you so much @ Soul Cycle Georgetown and I can’t wait for my next class!

Ayisha Benavides: It was my First time coming here. The staff was phenomenal!!! They were the absolute sweetest. I felt so at home and I didn’t feel out of place like I did at my old cycling place. I can’t wait to go back!!

Johnnie Anderson: Wow! One of the best soul cycles I’ve been to! Down to the assistants! I was Helped by Jordan who educated me on how to ride the bike to the best comfort based on my height and arm length! He made a great first impression for Georgetown soul cycle. Thank you again Jordan and the rest of the staff!

Amanda Anoh: It my first time, the place is packed on the weekends, and by reservation only, mainly. The staff is courteous but a pair of socks is $14.99! Not even packaged lol... i had a great time though.

Byron Ramsey: I road with Chris Pepe and let me tell you his music was EVERYTHING! Then he scared me with this little yell he does, but all in all hes a great instructor. You go Glenn Coco!

Jinlei Lin: The staff is super friendly and helpful. The class is upbeat and fun.

SoulCycle West End: what do users think?

Brenna McGreevy: This studio is made even better by starting my day on Tuesdays and Thursdays with Jordan at 6am. Her classes have great energy and motivation to feel like you can take on all that you need to for the remainder of the day. Love her style of spin with the addition of bomb music choices that fit perfectly with the mood. Try it out soon and you’ll be hooked!

Binyam Reja: I am in Washington for an extended business trip and have being going to SoulCycle West End location almost every day. What a fantastic experience I am having. I am full of energy and feel great every day even during stressful business meetings. I have discovered a new way to stay in shape while visiting D.C. Ditch your hotel gym and head to one of the SoulCycle locations. You will not regret it.

Brittany Gerig Campbell: Good workout, but I like the local cycling studios better. Be prepared for a scene if you come here! People working out in designer clothes and full makeup, and I needed earplugs in the class

joshua moores: My wife recommended I take a class here. Just took my first class with Cher. This was her 4 year anniversary teaching classes...she was awesome!! Highly recommend!

Biker Barre: what do users think?

Nastya McNally: Pros: great staff, friendly atmosphere, super clean facilities, welcoming to newbies. Cons: @CabinJohn no shower; makes it difficult to balance classes with work schedule. Either a pro or a con, depending on your personality: Most cycling instructors are hard core, which is awesome & challenging. But, sometimes, I yearn for a more peaceful / mindful / restorative / gentle workout.

Kirsten S: I’ve been going to Biker Barre for about a month and I can’t say enough good things about it. It’s fun, challenging, and affirming, and the instruction is top quality. BB is also IMMACULATE and doesn’t have the weird gym smell that is so common to less well-tended spots and while that doesn’t impact my ability to work out, it’s a nice bonus. My favorite instructors always encourage me and push me but I never feel like I’m guessing on form or intensity.

A Rc: They did not honor a pass that one of the staff talked me into purchasing during my first week. I was told I was purchasing a 5 pack that did not expire. It was especially for first-time students who did know if they could commit to multiple classes each month to make good on a monthly or New Years pass. They then said my pass expired when I tried to use it. I travel a lot, so there is no way I would have purchased a New Years pass for January, which is what they claimed I bought. I will never bike here again.

Katy Conyne: Positive: Professionalism, QualityAwesome local business that offers consistently high-quality barre classes. I have heard great things about the bike classes, too.

New Trail Cycling & Strength: what do users think?

Taralyn Kohler: New Trail Cycling Studio located in Lake Anne is the BEST! They have fantastic instructors, great music and offer a fantastic workout. Since you can adjust your own tension you make the workout at your own pace every time. The studio is also very clean and COVID-19 friendly. They offer yoga and strength classes as well. I recently booked a private party at New Trail for my birthday and they were extremely accommodating to my group - even had a special playlist with my requests! Would give 6 stars if I could!

Joanie Fay: This place is fantastic! I’ve been to several different indoor cycling studios, and this is one of my favorites. Everyone is welcoming and friendly, there is NONE of that snobby boutique vibe you may find elsewhere. Another great thing about New Trail is how WELL they have adjusted to the needs of everyone during the pandemic. Classes offered outside, inside or via Zoom from your own home, really meets the comfort level of anyone wanting to join a class. Several different formats to choose from also! It’s nice to find such a great spot nearby, so glad I found New Trail!

Julie Miller: New Trail is an amazing place run by wonderful people. I started spin classes just before the pandemic hit. The bikes and facility were always spotless and the coaches supportive and motivating. I love how the business has adapted so well to outside and virtual offerings. The owner really cares about everyone. The website is user friendly and the customer service is great. Once I recover from an injury (completely unrelated to spin), I hope to be back!

DAN CLARKE: Liz was awesome yesterday! We had a great class and workout as she pushed us as hard as we were willing to go......looking forward to future workouts.

Bernadette Toner Whitney: Missing your weekly spinning/cycling class during the pandemic? New Trail Cycling is the answer!!! Outside class with heaters for cold weather, clean equipment every class, temperature checks of all attendees upon arrival, and masks are required until all attendees are on their bikes at the start of class. Owner Liz and her staff go above and beyond to make your experience safe and enjoyable. Her innovative ways to make cycling available during these times is commendable. New Trail is a real gem in Reston.

Rush Cycle: what do users think?

Lauren Black: This was the first time I had taken a cycling class and I am now OBSESSED. Sara was the best instructor and was so helpful in getting me prepared for the class and showing me what everything was. Her class was so energetic and fun with great music. She was so encouraging the entire time and made me feel so comfortable and confident. Definitely recommend signing up to ride with her!!!

Tyler Bohnsack: Great studio, great equipment, great staff, great workout, great experience. I had Sara as my instructor for my first ever cycling class and enjoyed it a lot. I’ll definitely be back for more of her classes. She kept everyone engaged & her excitement radiated to everyone participating - I recommend you check her classes out

Veah Velasco: It was my first ever spin class and my first time at Rush and it was INCREDIBLE! I took the 8 AM with Sara and I felt so energized and challenged throughout the entire class. Also, their front desk staff was super helpful on showing me the ropes since it was my first visit/class. 1000/10 would book again!

D Shep: Great energy from the Rush Team! Challenging but fun at the same time. COVID Safety Precautions in full effect; bikes well distanced, strict capacity limitations enforced, appropriate mask wearing requirements. A great place!

C Hamilton: I just started doing cycling and I loooooove it the staff are so friendly and professional. The class is very energetic and full of vibes you members from DC that comes to this location because of the awesome trainers

Julia Mahon Kuzin: I just had my first session and was so pleasantly surprised. The energy was amazing and it was such a great workout!

Jimmy Smith: Very clean place with super friendly management!!

Kassandra F: Have been going close to 6 x a week since October.

Caroline Craddock: Fun, upbeat classes and instructors! :)

Washington Sports Clubs - DuPont Circle: what do users think?

G L: Supports individuals following members and blames the victim for the harassment they endured. Canceled their membership for documenting the stalker following them and still charged them for the membership. Very unprofessional on the phone when this situation was being discussed and stated that the victim should have talked to management as if them being followed is something they would address. The company would not address the stalker and that is very clear. It is important that everyone feels safe and comfortable at the gym and they did not create that sort of environment for the victim. I would absolutely not suggest this gym and believe all current members cancel as soon as they possibly can. You are not safe. You will never be safe in this gym. They do not care about their customers…

Jesse Bacon: I was in town three days for a conference and needed a gym to workout in… when we asked about daily passes the staff was super friendly and helpful in allowing me and a colleague to utilize the facility… I was able to complete all of my CrossFit workouts for the three days I was there. The facility was spacious and had everything we needed. Would totally recommend to anyone in the area looking for a gym home or those passing though on business. I’ll visit again whenever I’m in the area.

J Heather: Very friendly front desk staff and cleaning staff. Location is well maintained (cleanliness and equipment). The location can get crowded especially during rush hours (around lunch and at the end of the day). The other WSC nearby shutdown so their members automatically transferred to this location. Bathroom/lockers may be spotty at times but it depends on the time of the day. They offer membership discounts if you sign up in person (just a warning regarding the annual fee- they cannot waive it).

Whittney Dents: A club member was being followed and recorded the interaction to protect himself. Instead of the manager being understanding, he abruptly canceled the members membership and would not give them a refund. In a society where you truly don’t know the intentions of people, recording yourself for protection should not be punished. Shame on this establishment and the manager.

Nesi Smith: This gym feel as if it’s ok for a member to be stalked and you terminate them because they’re recording for their safety!!! As a former law enforcement officer I felt the need to record was justifiable and due to the fact that he didn’t report it shouldn’t matter. You have all types of weirdos working out so the need to report is slim to none unless that person actually starts following and stalking you to point where every move you make they make!!!! Refund should have been given as well as an apology.

Micha-Re Newton: This gym disregards the safety of its members and instead punishes them for taking precautions of their own safety. A recent member had just posted an interaction on social media of how he was followed by a man throughout his entire visit. The man would move to every corner that the member did. Even down to preforming intimidating acts by setting his belongings directly next to the member. WSC then decided that they would suspend the members membership for “recording and posting. & should have taken it to management” yet no actions have been taking on the predatory behavior of the man that was recorded. I can’t imagine how they would treat a woman in this same situation if this is how they treated a gentleman.

Tiana Stewart: This club does not care about the safety and well-being of their customers. Your membership will be terminated if you vent about the gym on social media with no refund of your monthly payment. This gym is not safe If you are attending alone. If you do go to this gym, please go with another person so that you were not followed around the gym.

Belin Sport & Fitness: what do users think?

Manuel Morillo: I signed up for the six week challenge program with Corey in June with a goal of losing 25lbs. Now after 6 weeks of training and meal prepping, I am that much closer to my goal. I couldn’t make 25lbs due to having less time for outside training, but nonetheless I am extremely happy and pleased with the progress I made and, albeit slowly, continue to make. The program was reasonably priced, even on a student budget, and Corey made the entire process of getting situated easy. Workouts were very intensive and also very well coordinated. If adjustments needed to be made Corey would help every step of the way and do his best to adjust so you can focus on reaching your goal. The added benefit of having an accountability group also helps tremendously when things might seem to get tough. Highly recommend giving Corey a call or a visit, he does great work!

Hanna Haile: Corey is the best trainer I ever had. This program was amazing for me, I have never felt more accomplished after a work out than when I worked out with Corey. The program is exactly what it says it was and I was able to lose what I wanted to lose and create healthy habits for myself. I would definitely recommend this to all of my friends.

Robbie Allen: Corey Belin is the definition of a ninja warrior on and off the field. He genuinely cares about his clients, is extremely professional, and supportive. Moreover, he is a coach, motivator, and pushes you to your full potential. You will definitely see results when you train with Corey. He offers a lot of amazing services for all fitness levels. My personal favorite is his iSpinn class. Forget the bike and get ready to rock out with Corey. He takes you through a high impact workout that’s sure to burn those calories. Trust me when I say, Corey cuts calories (pounds)! Highly recommend!!

Les Frasier: Corey hands down is such an amazing trainer! He pushes you to limits you don’t believe you can achieve. I have tried many trainers but Corey takes it to another level. That spin class is everything!! I can’t get enough and need to sign up for the variety of classes he offers . I have to say I look forward to working out and despite the fact it’s online now, I still feel like I get personalized attention to keep me motivated! Please join take his class you won’t regret it!

Jennifer Cardno: Corey at Belin sport & fitness definitely knows what he is doing. The 6week challenge is an awesome program that actually delivers results! I absolutely love the workouts. They are always different and I feel so much stronger. The best part about this program though is the tailored meal plan which isn’t like anything I’ve done before. It’s not a diet at all but more a lifestyle change. I understand now the effects that certain food have on my body and am more conscious of the food choices I make. After doing the 6week challenge I feel like my best self and can’t wait to keep going!! If you are looking for a more healthy lifestyle and are willing to put in the work and have a great time doing it then yes this is the program for you!

patricia eisner: Corey has been my trainer for over 15 years . And every single class is new and different and challenging. I took spin class without bikes this morning and was reminded how hard I need to work when I take one or corey’sClasses. He is motivating, fun and won’t let you down !!!

Anji Corley: The. Best. Trainer. Ever! Corey and his energy and outgoing personality is one of the best I have ever experienced. I’ve known him for over 20 years and his classes never cease to be boring or make my body feel sore… And wonderful! He is creative, innovative and really wants the best for you you just give him a little time and he will transform your body. His East-good SPIN CLASS WITH NO BIKES it’s been one of my go to for the last 10 years. It is so inventive… It’ll blow your mind oh and 30 minutes you are sweating and you feel good and you can go on about your day.

Washington Area Bicyclist Association: what do users think?

Nozipho Dube: Had a great 3 hour lesson with Chuck, Kristi, Allison, and Mike. The class size approx. 15 people at different level of skill. The instructors did a good job of splitting us up based on skill set and moving us up based on our progress. It was a great class.

Karen Brown: I had a horrible experience with WABA. It is not worth $85.00 to learn how to ride a bike. The instructors were very hands off and my husband had to assist my daughter in learning how to ride. Then the instructor tells us my daughter should come back and pay another $85.00. I was underwhelmed with what I saw. Additionally, I received a harassing email that was very inappropriate from Syndney Sotelo, WABA Director about my husband assisting my daughter when she was struggling in learning how to ride. Stay woke everyone $85.00 to be hands off is never acceptable. It’s a rip off.

Bayley Vanderpoel: Great organization doing God’s work. More bike lanes now!

MINT health club & studio- Dupont: what do users think?

R Adebowale: Great local gym. Small building but with all the modern equipment needed for a good workout. Nice front desk staff.

Lexie Barton: I love Mint!! I have been so impressed by their ability to pivot during the pandemic and create an environment that truly feels safe for everyone. I cancelled my gym membership before the pandemic at another gym and felt unsafe returning as I have an at-risk person at home, until I found Mint! Cannot say enough good things about the team and the facility. Thank you, Mint team! Also agree with the 2nd review below 👇 I’ve been during all times of the day and have never had an issue with any of my belongings. There is ample locker space with the ability to choose your own combination so you can secure your items. I’ve never seen or encountered any issues.

Kaelah Horwath: MINT is the BEST! All of the instructors are amazing and it is such a nice place to work out.

Blanca Badgett: Mint is fantastic! The variety of classes is great as I lack self structure when I try to workout alone. The instructors are very motivating and work with all skill levels. They all have a good knowledge base to modify workouts for people with injuries which I appreciate. They also have a child care, full amenity locker rooms, and a coffee machine. It is rather expensive for memberships so I would suggest using ClassPass to try it out before fully committing. Their memberships do also include the 14th St location!

Mallika Thomas: Such a great place! Really nice to go to a local, family-owned gym that is really set on delivering great health and wellness to the local community! What I especially love are the outdoor classes that are being offered in the time of Covid. They are safe, in small groups, and outdoors! And I really need the exercise after having been inside for so many months! Thank you, especially to Lauren for offering a fantastic outdoor workout!

Washington Sports Clubs - Glover Park: what do users think?

My Comment: Great neighborhood gym. Staff there -- Mahlape, Olga, Luis -- who are there in the mornings are friendly and quick to help if you have questions. You get a neighborhood vibe from the place as compared to the nameless big gyms. Especially during the pandemic you can see the extra effort they put in to keep the place clean, open, and welcoming. They make you feel part of a family. Glad to be a Glover Park member.

Jason Yeung: Been a member for several months now. I’ve haven’t had a negative experience with team members. The people that workout here are also very respectful and friendly. In response to a negative review of a team member I wanted to share my experience with her. Towards me, she’s always been friendly and hospitable. She does her best to remember everyone by name and notices when your workout buddy isn’t with you, even to the point of asking if they’re ok. The lack of a 5th star is not because of the staff. I wish there were bumper plates, another squat rack, and high quality barbells. That’s most likely a corporate issue.

Ricardo Martinez: I must disagree with a previous review. Malape is a value member of the gym, she is courteous, polite and nice in general. If there is a piece of equipment that is behind the desk, she would gladly point it to me so I can grab it (due to COVID). Luis is another great asset to the gym, he always looks to have everything ready and clean for us to workout early in the morning, always say hi with a smile and good attitude. I am appreciative of their work.

John Byrne: This is a great sports club with a friendly neighborhood atmosphere. Mahlape has always been an incredible asset -- friendly, professional and knowledgeable -- and Luis keeps everything extremely clean. The club was renovated a few years ago, and there is great equipment and a lot of space. Also, very easy to get to on Wisconsin Avenue.

Alexandre B. Sagna: I love ❤️ being part of Washington Sport Club Glover Park. The whole staff is friendly 😊. Brought two of my buddies to train with me and they loved it. Yes it’s tiny that’s true so if you don’t like being close to each other I recommend not to come around pick time 😊.

Joao Pedro: Very friendly staff and great customer service! I also want to kindly disagree with what was said in the latest review since I believe that the “older black woman”, as she was referred, is actually a valuable member and a very nice person who contributes a lot to the gym with her nice work. I only have great words to say about the whole team that works there. The gym is always super clean. The machines are well maintained, and there’s a good number of ergs, so I don’t have to wait to do my cardio.

Will Wu: Great budget gym in Glover Park. Been a member for almost a year and never had any problems with them. Would recommend

Vinicio Aguirre: Wsc Glover is a gym that I highly recommend to the neighborhood or anyone looking to go have a good workout. It’s had major changes since the original Covid transitions. The people there are welcoming and enthusiastic when it comes to its members. If you are an individual that is somewhat of a germaphobe, there is an employee by name of Shanica who works hard keeping the cleanliness of the gym to its highest standards. She makes sure the antibacterial wipes are always stocked and the workout rooms as well as mats are cleaned daily. Overall I believe you come to the gym you’ll agree with my review.

Bernard Holland: I have not been to WSC Glover Park since the pandemic and plan to rejoin when things quiet down. Before that I was there most days for ten years. The elderly black woman Lizzie was referring to is Mahlape who has been there for more than 20 years. Mahlape is the glue that holds that club together. All the people I know that attended the club adored Mahlape. I cannot imagine her being rude undeservedly to anyone. Moreover I have seen a few altercations between staff and members in my time at the club. Invariably it was the members who were at fault.

Reformation Fitness – Cap Hill: what do users think?

Gladwin Gilman: Had my first class ever in my life and to say I enjoyed myself is an understatement. I’m on the curvier plus size and felt included and welcome in the class. It was small and vaccination records were required. Our instructor Natalie Rico made us feel even more welcomed and she was so patient and we are 10000 percent coming back. If you’re not a typical fit lady with abs and previous Pilates experience try a class and ask for Natalie.

Posh Cycling and Fitness: what do users think?

Elizabeth Prince: I love the variety of classes at POSH! If I feeling like aerobics, I can do that. If I want to cycle, I can do that. If I want some cycling with some resistance, I can do that. I absolutely love the mixture. The staff is always inviting and welcoming. The business is run so professionally. The owners are keeping the establishment clean and up to COVID standards. I truly appreciate that. They are checking for temperatures and handing out hand sanitizer once you walk in. Not only is POSH black owned, but reputable. This is the type of place you want to share with the masses.

Maria Gutierrez: Yesterday I went to Posh for the first time and I loved it. I had never tried spinning before and I was impressed with the experience. The trainer, the big screen, the avatar they use, the bikes, and the music were just very cool. I also loved the studio and the variety of classes they offer. I totally recommend it! See you there.

Balance Gym: Glover Park: what do users think?

Ashley M: I joined and was told the top floor would be closing in a week, but that ALL equipment and amenities would be retained (I was most interested in the sauna and Olympic weightlifting platforms). VERY disappointed in the false advertising. There is no longer a sauna, the locker room is TINY (the old one was super nice, the one available now is not), they got rid of the 2 Olympic weightlifting platforms, and when you email the manager to ask questions he ignores you. Really annoyed that I pay $100 a month and was told the gym has what I was looking for. When I talked to the front desk person (because the manager ignores emails), she said, “well you could go to one of our other locations if you want a sauna.” I tried to set up personal training, which you’re supposed to get 1 free session when you join, and I never could get a response from the person I was supposed to be hearing from. The person who works the front desk in the morning is often not there, so you have to wait around to get your parking validated. The pros: I really like the downstairs weightlifting room. It has a bunch of racks and free weights, and is technically a CrossFit gym even though there aren’t any official CrossFit classes offered. Some of the racks are really close together if you’re oly lifting, but we make it work. I also like that there is free parking at this location, unlike many others. Bring back the sauna and yoga classes and I’ll give a much higher rating. I can live without the oly platforms.

C E: The Go for It spirit at Balance Gym is beyond impeccable. All of us want to help out in the contribution to our wonderful community held together by the strength of our Federal Government. Imagine sitting in front of a computer screen, organizing files and papers, having important meetings day and night about policies that affect the 50 States if not the World. Yes, I would go again to Balance Gym!

Grace Phillips: Amazing facility! Very clean! Staff is very accommodating. I was only visiting for the holidays and they have a one week and a two week option! Equipment is suitable for heavy lifters and those who desire a simpler workout. They offer tons of classes at great times. I think I found my gym away from home!

Stephanie C. Giancola: An amazing gym with a phenomenal staff! Jacob, the GM was extremely patient and tending to my million questions about what the gym has to offer. Boy, was I surprised! They have a variety of good equipment available, different sections to do turf workouts, weight lifting, cardio, yoga, etc. the building used to be a spa, so the locker rooms are dreamy, and they offer specials on esthetic/massage work upstairs. I was able to take a boot camp class before signing up for a membership. The class was challenging, but within reason. The coach was enthusiastic, and everybody was having a good time. There is a Crossfit section as well! And they even offer classes like solid core, with the Pilates machine! This gym has everything you need, even parking in the back! Ask for Jacob and he’ll set you up. Also—lots of cool freebies like a free personal training session and three free Pilates reformer classes to start you off!

Aaron E.: Beware of their misleading billing policies! I was a member here for a year. I emailed them in early January 2019 to cancel my membership and received a response saying (in all bold font) that since I had pre-paid my final payment, I would “have no further payments due,” and my membership would run out on March 8. Much to my surprise then, Balance charged me $29 on February 15. I emailed them and asked that this charge be removed since I was previously told that I had no further payments. The billing person (Alex) quite rudely responded to me stating that this $29 is an “enhancement fee” charged to all members on 2/15. When I insisted that this charge be reversed because I was misled by their original email, I was simply told no and that this is part of the membership agreement. A proper business would have apologized for misleading me and offered a refund for the $29. Balance, however, clearly only cares about getting as much money out of you as they can.

Washington Sports Clubs - Columbia Heights: what do users think?

Kuntal Sen, MD, FACMG: My poor review is due to following reasons: My trainer left abruptly without notice. I was charged for cancelling my session with him even though it was their fault. I have disputed the credit card charge. They are infamous for wrongly charging customers and fraudulent activity. They implemented covid vaccine card policy which was nice but didn’t inform customers. I and others was treated very unprofessionally by front desk during this day.

Conor O'Reilly: I had a personal training session with Phil and he did a great job! He taught me a lot about free weights and stretching. Now I feel more comfortable to use the more advanced equipment. They also have a pool, sauna, and basketball court. Love this place

Terry Chasteen: I joined on a special rate, maybe it was 2018. Due to my own fault, I never used the gym ... not once. I cannot blame that on anyone else, however I would have thought with a new client in a business like this, someone would have reached out; invited me in for a tour, found out why I was paying monthly but never using the facility. No one ever contacted me for the full year that I was billed. That is not the worst part, however, Even though it was NOT in the contract, they automatically renewed my membership without my approval and not only at my original rate but almost $30/mo above. This went on for a year since I never used that credit card and it was paid monthly automatically by my bank. Only bc of sething else on the card did I notice the fraudulant charges and they were too old for my bank to recover.

Benyam Ephrem: Scheduled an InBody scan a week ago (as a non-member), came in prepped for the scan (no breakfast) at 10am - front desk said they did not have an appointment asking if I received a confirmation email (I said I got no calls or emails), then made me scan a QR code on a banner to schedule for another day since apparently the person doing the scans would be in at 5pm. Frustrating experience. Will not be coming back to the gym.

Gregory Alan: Critical: QualityMediocre at best. See attached pictures below. The equipment is not well maintained and does not justify the cost of membership. Also the club hours are terrible on the weekends.

Thaiz Alicia: Do not come to this gym!!! They do not care for your safety!! They will cancel your membership for protecting yourself from weird men that will follow you around ! Stay safe and go to a gym that will help you out and help you enjoy your gym experience instead of canceling your membership!

Mahvash Edrissi: I started going to gym a month ago, first it was difficult to come out after so long time lock down. But after few days I got used to it now i want to go there everyday. Friendy staff, and clean place, and all equipment makes this place great. I do my exercise, take a shower and saunas, afterwards I feel great about myself. Thank you wsc

Bita Kh: The worst customer service I’ve ever seen. Nobody takes responsibility for the actions. They charge me with new fee membership that is more than the original one because of the mistake that made by themselves. I’ve spoke with customer service and sales department several times, everybody already aware of this problem but no action. When I follow up they send me to new person. This is absurd.

VIDA Fitness U Street: what do users think?

Benyam Ephrem: Overall: Solid gym, nothing is overtly missing. You can do everything you need to do. Summary: Basically 3 floors, cardio floor, machine + dumbbell floor, powerlifting floor (w/ dumbbell rack). Good: The ambiance and vibe is good. You feel like you are working out in a cave with a bunch of people. Bad: - Working out from 5-6/7 sucks. The gym is too small to serve the load of patrons at rush times. There aren’t enough benches & benches for presses so you find yourself waiting for major lifts. - If you go any other time that is non-rush it is a solid gym - The benches are way too close to the mirrors, you can’t do heavy lifts and drop weights. It just feels cramped. You have to maneuver around people doing heavy lifts and there are just personal space issues (when squatting I don’t want anyone near me, we have mental bubbles). - Maybe picky but the dumbbells are decent ones. I’ve used better with more grip (steel handle with a mesh pattern etched in). They are a bit narrow in grip and have plastic handles with decent grip. This nuance is kind of annoying and grip is worse so I just do few dumbbell movements now. I’d give ~3 1/2 stars but I imagine there is a huge constraint on real-estate within the city so a gym can only be so large, etc (can’t compare it to gyms I’ve been to elsewhere). But at ~$120/130/mo you’d want more space and just…more. But this was the closest complete gym option to me (.8 mile jog) and the vibes are good. Edit: Have visited all other branches. Nice to be able to switch up gyms on a day you have time to jog farther. Great branding & vibe consistency. Great value add if you want to switch things up and drop in other gyms.

Taylor Hayes: I pay entirely too much money for there to be towels in the floor from a roof leak, a scale in the locker room that has been low battery for a week so I can’t weigh myself, and RUDE STAFF. Will be canceling my membership this month.

David Gershman: In the most appropriate way, I can say that Vida does not prioritize member safety in its steam rooms and saunas.

Joe Kawly: The most decent gym in DC. But lately, they have been faking short especially when it comesTo maintenance. It feels like each day there is something not working.

Mattia Pallozzi: Honestly I have had always a lovely experience, clean fun and the staff especially has always been pretty amazing, from managers to trainers! 👌🏻👌🏻

Harry Longlast: I a had meeting with Paul and all I can say is that I have never felt so uncomfortable and embarrassed before. His rude comments about my " big chunky thighs and lack of motivation " were very unprofessional. How do you even motivate someone by highlighting his/her insecurities? He was very rude and impatient. I am not an experienced lifter, however I was under the impression that the staff and culture at vida fitness were solid. The level of unprofessionalism really upset me and will for sure never come back. He was trying way too hard and pushing me to buy a membership and did not even consider my questions, concerns. I believe as a sales director or rep; you must be able to not only know your product but to hear your clients needs in order to better cater to their need. I run a local blog with over 5,000 daily readers and will for sure write about this awful experience. I understand I am overweight but I want to make the changes in my life that get me healthier; I just wish mr Paul, as a professional would be more empathetic and see me as a human being; not just a number.

Reynaldo Castillo: Positive: ProfessionalismAmazing workout experience from the membership consultation to the quality of the facility. Paul Leiby understood my fitness goals and listened to all my concerns as I came from another gym franchise. I fully endorse the quality of the experience and I guaranty you will see results in your fitness goals.

Jordan Bayless: Absolutely love the gym itself. The facility is large and has a dedicated floor for compound lifts filled with squat racks and deadlift platforms. Unfortunately, personal trainers usually dominate this space and use it for calisthenics and TRX workouts. Granted, they seem very focused on ensuring their clients have a great experience, just at the cost of other members. As a result, there is almost never an open rack or platform. The locker rooms are top notch. With a sauna, steam room, and showers that have excellent bath products, there is amazing attention to detail. The rest of the facility is nice as well. Although, it is devoid of some typically essential equipment such as seated leg curls. These spaces, to include cardio rooms, are often overcrowded and only seem to be less trafficked from 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. Overall, the facility is great, to include the rooftop pool. However, these seem to be used as selling points to encourage new members and after joining, the organization only is invested in trying to get members to spend more money through personal trainers, nutritionists, etc. rather than ensure members spending $180/month have an enjoyable experience.
