Cuba Libre Restaurant & Rum Bar - Washington, D.C.: what do users think?

Diana Hjelmeir: Husband and I love coming here for lunch/brunch on Sundays! If you like high end shopping, there is a shopping center right by this place. The interior is really well done, you feel like you're walked into a Universal Resort or theme park Cuban/Hispanic restaurant! I love seeing the interior whenever we eat here. We've always walked here, so I can't comment about the parking. I also didn't use the bathroom, so I also can't comment. Our waitress Paola was very patient with our children and loved interacting with them, thank you! Our orders were put in quickly and everything was delicious.
Response: WOW, Diana! Thank you for sharing this wonderful review! Here at Cuba Libre Washington DC, we strive to provide our guests with efficient service and mouthwatering dishes. Your praise lets us know we're succeeding! We're so glad you appreciated not only our inviting atmosphere and and courteous staff, but our delicious meals as well. We look forward to hosting you again soon for another memorable experience. Muchas gracias! -Matthew Fox General Manager, Cuba Libre Restaurant & Rum Bar Washington, DC

Da-Wang Wu: One of my favorite restaurants in DC. The interior design is pretty cool, and the ambience is great. My favorite is the seafood soup, very flavorful with lots of seafood inside. During dinner time (after 4pm), they serve toasted bread with mango butter, super refreshing flavor! Chicken croquette, fried yuca and empanadas are all very good. Guacamole is beautiful decorated but not the best one I’ve ever had. Paella doesn’t feel right, pretty wet. Churro as an ending dessert to be meal is a great option. Reservation might be needed during peak hours.
Response: Thank you for the great review, Da-Wang Wu! We're thrilled that you enjoyed your dining experience at Cuba Libre! We appreciate your praise for our decor and delicious dishes. The soup and empanadas were fantastic choices! Come back soon! Muchas gracias! -Matthew Fox General Manager, Cuba Libre Restaurant & Rum Bar Washington, DC

M: Good food.Service took a while but it's ok. Pandemic times calls for extra patience. Once we got a server, we ordered food, it came without a long wait. It was a nice end of day meal after a museum marathon on a Sunday.
Response: We appreciate your feedback, Madelaine. We are thriled that you enjoyed our great feedback, but we are disappointed to hear that our service failed to meet your expectations. We appreciate your understanding regarding the pandemic, and our service. Please reach out to info@cubalibrerestaurant.com so we can learn more about your experience. -Matthew Fox General Manager, Cuba Libre Restaurant & Rum Bar Washington, DC

Vikram Seshadri: Loved the music and the ambiance was very lively. Amazing vegetarian and Vegan options. Must try the Mojitos, Yuca fries and the Plantain chips.Had to call ahead and reserve a table and the restaurant was super busy on a weekday but was definitely worth it.
Response: We appreciate this detailed review, Vikram! We are delighted that you had a great time at Cuba Libre Washington DC and loved our music, vibrant ambiance, wide menu variety, and delicious meals. We are always seeking feedback, so we cannot thank you enough for letting us know how we are doing! Come see us again soon for another amazing experience! -Matthew Fox General Manager, Cuba Libre Restaurant & Rum Bar Washington, DC

Abby Fasehun: Loved the ambiance, felt like I was on the street of Havana. The Empanadas Was really good, forgot to take a photo of it, but overall, food was great. Customer service was top notch. Oh and the music!!! Got me moving the whole time. I’ll be back.
Response: We appreciate this glowing feedback, Bisola! Our team here at Cuba Libre Washington DC is delighted to hear that you loved our authentic Cuban ambiance, delicious food, amazing music, and phenomenal made-from-scratch dishes. This praise means the absolute world to us, and we hope to see you again soon for another excellent time! -Matthew Fox General Manager, Cuba Libre Restaurant & Rum Bar Washington, DC

Melinda Nguyen: Fantastic place for music, dancing, and drinks. The decor was beautiful and inviting. The space was open and the dance floor was fenced in which was a cool way to separate the space. It's busy and crowded on a Saturday night, but still had space to move around. Drinks were on point. The only downside was the lack of places to hang coats or bags. Coming during the winter, a lot of people struggled to put their things in a safe spot. Dancing with all the stuff is no fun. They should consider a coat check or something, especially in the winter. All in all, great music.. mix of Latin and pop throughout the night. I would definitely go back in the spring or summer.
Response: Thanks for the great review, Melinda! Cuba Libre is happy to hear about your experience! We're glad you enjoyed our ambiance, decor, and delicious drinks! We will make sure to discuss your comments regarding the lack of a coatroom with our staff moving forward. We're excited to welcome you back soon! -Matthew Fox General Manager, Cuba Libre Restaurant & Rum Bar Washington, DC

Kevin Russell: This is a long review, but please read to the end. Food is really good and the decor is great. On Friday and Saturday nights, not sure the time (I think around 10) the place basically turns into a salsa dance club. Really cool. Only reason it didn't get 5 stars from me this time was because our service was awful this trip. This is a follow up to that visit. The GM contacted me regarding the service. He took the time to address what happened and has generously offered to invite us back and make it right. This is the type of service restaurants should try to achieve. He takes pride in the customer experience and was very sincere. So I'm changing to 5 stars. I look forward to our next visit. As I said previously, the food is good, actually, great, and just a great place to have fun with your friends. I highly recommend this place. For a great app, try the empanadas. Really tasty. Oh, and I did forget to mention before, I'd suggest reservations on Friday and Saturday as a lot are there to enjoy the food and then dance the night away with some unique drinks they have! I'm confident our next visit will be amazing and I can't wait!!! I'll add photos of the dance floor and the food we choose this time around. We just had our evening here again after the service that was subpar before. This time, there was nothing subpar about our experience. We had a great table, our waiter was very attentive, fun, and made great suggestions for our friend that hadn't been there before. We had chicken and beef empanadas, and pineapple guacamole for apps. Was very good. Our dinner was very good. My friend and I had the plato gaucho mixed grill. My other friend had a neat and rice dish that I forgot to ask the name of. He's a chef at the White House, and he thought everything was excellent! The manager was aware of our previous experience and brought us desserts, and after dinner drinks that was a very nice touch, and we're also very good. The music was really good. The place really filled up with people to dance the night away on the dance floor that starts at 11 until 3 am. Everyone was having a great time. There was a pretty good sized line of people waiting outside to get in to enjoy the dancing. Really a perfect night out. Please go and support this restaurant. I highly doubt you will regret it. And if something isn't right, they will ensure to make it right. A big thank you to the GM, Matthew Fox, the manager Jessica, and our waiter!!!
Response: We sincerely apologize for the service challenges that you encountered, Kevin. We kindly ask that you contact us at info@cubalibrerestaurant.com for further discussion so that we can learn more. -Matthew Fox General Manager, Cuba Libre Restaurant & Rum Bar Washington, DC

Austin Graff: A friend of mine's favorite restaurant in the world is Cuba Libre in D.C.'s Chinatown. He loves the drinks, food, atmosphere and music. Having not visited in over a decade, we made a reservation for a Sunday dinner. Here's our experience: 1) Food: The menu is Cuban and has variety with appetizers, mains, desserts and a kid's menu. My Cuban sandwich and shrimp dish were flavorful and my five-year-old daughter even loved the food! 2) Drinks: They have a rum bar and three options for sangria that come by the glass or pitchers. My friend and I split the red sangria. It was strong, but not as sweet as other sangrias. 3) Atmosphere: They try to transport you to Cuba. The restaurant is spacious and even has outdoor seating during the winter. Salsa dancing happens at Ciba Libre too! 4) Service: It was easy to make an online reservation. However, when we dined in the service was average. Our server wasn't very attentive and not very friendly, which is fine since we all have off-days. But our food took a long time to come out. 5) Price: It's pricey, even for D.C. If the food was the best you've had, it would be better, but with good, but not phenomenal food, the prices felt off. This spot isn't a bad option, but I don't join my friend in titling it the best in the world.
Response: Thank you for your detailed feedback and kind words, Austin. We sincerely apologize for the time you waited and service you experienced. Please reach out to us directly at info@cubalibrerestaurant.com so we may further discuss. Thank you. -Matthew Fox General Manager, Cuba Libre Restaurant & Rum Bar Washington, DC

Michelle Edgar: We spent years in “little Cuba” in Hialeah FL, so we are pretty well versed in cuban food. This was stellar! Drinks were strong but flavorful. My husband and I got the mixed grill to share and it did not disappoint! If we come back to the dc area this will be our first stop!
Response: Muchas Gracias, Michelle! We are thrilled that our great food and delicious drinks exceeded your expectations. We look forward to hosting you again in the future for another great experience! -Matthew Fox General Manager, Cuba Libre Restaurant & Rum Bar Washington, DC

Greg Amiker: Beautiful layout (ambience feels like you're in a Cuban garden). The staff and managers were friendly and helpful. The seating is both indoors and outside. After 11pm on Weekends they turn part of the restaurant into a "Hot Cuban Club" with a nice setup of Mambo music, disco lights and DJ. Be aware that you're in downtown DC so expect pricey food and drinks, but the Mojito and other Cuban food is great!
Response: We appreciate your great review, Greg! Our team is so grateful that you took the time to let us know about your recent visit to Cuba Libre Washington DC! Your praise for our ambiance, attentive team, drinks, and made-from-scratch dishes is greatly valued! We hope to see you again soon for another outstanding experience. -Jessica Lopez General Manager, Cuba Libre Restaurant & Rum Bar Washington, DC

Mi Cuba Cafe: what do users think?

Rosie C: Cute spot with great food. Don't out on the great coffee or strong drinks. Staff if super nice. Ordered the chicken with cheese and the Cubano. Both were great.

Pradipto Banerjee: Incomparable flavors and amazing staff! I had long wanted to try out the restaurants on this often overlooked strip in Columbia Heights. Finally made the trip and it sure worth it! The staff helped me pick which entree to get and even brought second helpings of butter fried Cuban bread which was delicious. I ordered the Vaca Frita. Even before eating, I could smell the deliciousness when my food arrived. It had crunch, tenderness and packed with flavor. Boxed the leftovers for the second meal. Will certainly visit here again!

Maureen Elias: Surprisingly delicious!! The food was so good we both totally over ate. The service was friendly and fast. And we weren't rushed at all. It was also a great place to people watch.

Vy H.: LOVED THIS PLACE! Came here for dinner Friday—called ahead to make a reservation which was good because the place is small and most of the tables were occupied by the dinner rush. The food was delicious! The Beef Empanadas were a great appetizer. Friday’s special was the Ropa Vieja—it was well flavored and comes with two sides. The Lechon Asado was great too! For drinks, the Traditional Mojitos were legit, they even have sugarcane in their drinks—one of the best mojitos I’ve ever had!

Larry “Big Schlim” Mcleod: I was finishing a review at another spot, and while walking back to my car this spot captured my attention!! So here I am @micubacafe on 1424 Park Rd., N.W. Washington D.C. I didn’t know until after I hit this spot that they were rated the number one spot for a Cuban sandwich in DC. Good choice…with no research!! . . . Lets get to it…this is what the got; empanadas, croquettes, and rellenas (stuffed potatoes) as appetizers. They have salads sandwiches, “Un pan con”( a bread with select proteins). They have main courses like “Bistek Empanizado”(thinly sliced steak with onions), & “Apporeado”(shredded chicken cooked in tomato sauce & spices). They have fresh fruit juices, coffees, soups, shakes, & desserts like their Lime pie. . . First up was their “Mamey” shake (pictured $5.45)…STAMP!! It taste like a mild mango & lemon vanilla shake!! I recommend this…GET IT!! . So I copped their beef empanadas (pictured a fried pastry with beef in it $6.95)…STAMP!! These things were fresh, quality, and they HIT!! . Next was their Rellenas (pictured, mashed potatoes, rolled into a ball, stuffed with meat, breaded & fried $6.95)…STAMP!! The texture, the flavor…STAMP!! . I also copped their chicken croquettes (pictured $6.95)…DECENT. I’m use to my croquettes with a tad bit more flavor to them. . Ok so the authentic Cuban sandwich (pictured with ham, roasted pork, pickles, Swiss cheese, and mustard $13.95)…DELICIOUS!! All the flavors compliment each other in this sandwich!! The bread was kinda tough…but this sandwich was YEAH!! If you don’t eat pork, they have chicken, beef, and veggie Cubans too!! . . Customer service exceeded my expectations, online navigation was easy, the establishment was clean, they had seating available, parking was tough. Y’all have to try this spot…you HAVE to. That’s it. #bigschlimsreviews #cubanfood #cubansandwhich #deliciousness #emoanadas #relleenas #croquettes #mameyshake #musthave #go #thatsit
Response: Larry, your description is most than a review… it’s a pack of good energy to continue doing the best every day in our small family business. Mi Cuba Café say THANK you Larry!

Queen Afua: Great little small place to just enjoy friends and family at. The drinks were good and the food was amazing 😋☺️ will definitely go back. Only issue is it's not a lot of seafood options and very few vegetarian options also. But the shrimp stew was amazing a definite getter.

Anish Roy: Delicious empanadas and croquettes, with strong and flavorful coffee! Friendly and welcoming staff and service with lovely decorations and very authentic Cuban food, love this spot!

Conor O'Reilly: I went in on Cinco de mayo and had a cafe bombon (espresso with condensed milk), a pressed steak sandwich and a Pacifico. I also got chicken and ham croquettes Togo. Everything was phenomenal and the servers were all super friendly. I'll definitely be back.

ƐK dela Cruz: Ordered the Lechon Asado and enjoyed it! The server was very proactive and nice, handed out the free bread that was buttery and delicious. The meal itself was also enjoyable and filling. Looking at the old pictures here of the menus, we thought it was still going to be the same price for the meal but it is now higher. Completely understandable but it came as a shock. I personally don’t think it should be high as it is since you’d be left thinking if it was worthwhile. Not a good feeling, and the feelings itself should not be there while trying to enjoy your meals.

sabrina lax: First let me say, the food is very good. When I first tried Mi Cuba Cafe a little over a year ago, we were still in the midst of the pandemic and they were only doing takeout. The portions were very generous, so the prices didn't seem unreasonable. The last few times I had food delivered, the portions were much smaller and the fried pork was dry and overcooked. Two weeks ago, I ate in the restaurant for the first time. Service was great, food was tasty, but the portions were half of what they used to be. 🙄

Habana Village: what do users think?

MONICA MORLEY: Love the place, the owners are there greeting you and making sure you're having a good time. Music is terrific. Salsa lessons and ladies night are the best

Adam Farrell: We were just walking by, and were immediately enticed by the fun salsa/latin beat, savory aroma and fantastic vibes pouring out of this establishment. When we saw their happy hour selections, we were sold (5-7pm!). Outstanding Piña-Coladas, Mohitos, and Margaritas confirmed our anticipation, delicious and only six bucks. $3 draught beers, more fantastic music and THE BEST fried yucca were also enjoyed. This place is so fun, affordable and the kitchen is one of the most professional in the area. Mario was the most welcoming of bar tenders, as he happily explained the menu, their story and some of the dance classes that are offered (prior to covid). We felt safe being served outside and will be back FOR SURE. Especially for some dance lessons! P.S. for the authentic cuban experience, finish your meal with a shot of aguardiente! Delicious!

Kezia M: Went here for my friends birthday! They were timely in getting us seated after being a bit late for our reservation. The staff were very nice and sincere. Absolutely loved the food! Took a little bit to come out but it was well worth the wait. Some of the best plantains I’ve ever had! Their rice and beans... chefs kiss. Will definitely return whenever I make my way to DC again!

Ana De Gutiérrez: Delicious Cuban food!!! I love the Vaca frita

Madison Dull: This was a wonderful experience. the food, service, and music was incredible. The food was authentic. The service was perfect they were around the perfect amount. Mario, the server, was very attentive and made wonderful drink and food recemendations. It would be a shame not to dine at this restaurant.

Jacqueline: Phenomenal food!! Great service that’s now family owned and operated with new management - salsa dancing and amazing vibes. Just bought a practice in the area and will definitely return !

Giani Morales-González: Excellent Service! Excellent Food! Great and Relaxing Atmosphere! It is a must try, you’ll be sorry that you missed out!

Quarib Chowdhury: This is a DC institution. Amazed and glad it’s still around. Friday night Salsa class was great with a great instructor. I left early for the social but every video I see seems like they’re a good time. I wish it was a little bigger.

Ernesto's Coffee Adventures: I love Salsa clubs and I have been to many all over the country but I have to say this one is the worst experience ever!! I went there on a Friday come to find out they charge you $20.00 and I didn't get to dance salsa music. I asked the lady on the third floor if I could see around the rope to see how many people were there and she denied me.. There was only two couples the whole night dancing. The people that work there are also not the nicest. It is pricey but it would be worth it it fulfilled the salsa vibe experience. For a salsa vibe I recommend Café Citron. I have been to many Salsa clubs and this one is the worst.

Elizabeth T: This place was a great choice to go to! We ordered the nachos and they were fantastic!! It’s such a nice place to go and enjoy dinner and a drink. I felt right at home and they were very attentive. They sanitize their glasses and I was very happy to see that during this time! Everything was delicious. Make this a place to go and visit soon!

    Cubano's: what do users think?

Suradee Thongkiattikul: We’ve been wanting to try this place for awhile now, especially during the warmer months when you can sit outside on their front porch area. We were in a sandwich mood and decided to check out their original Cubano sandwich as well as the Cubano Especial. The prices seemed a bit steep, but it was nice supporting a local business. I really wanted to try their picadillo ($20+), so maybe next time we’ll have to do that. We went at around 7:30pm on a Friday night and there were plenty of seats (granted the temperature was 34°F and nobody wants to leave the warmth of their house). This place is usually packed during warmer months.

Pat S: Very average experience, this place use to be good I am unsure what transpired through the pandemic. The food was bland. Slow service, unenthusiastic waiters, our server was not interested in her job during our meal. Younger waiters on their phones in the small corner right next to the bar area talking about patrons in spanish and laughing. They ran out of soft drinks, my date didn’t taste any alcohol in his mojito. I ordered a paella and calamari appetizer. They sat all guest along the tables against the wall, I felt bad I even recommended this place to my guest.
Response: Pat, I'm sorry if your last visit didn't match the positive ones you've had with us in the past. While I can assure you that it's not like our staff to talk behind our guests' backs, I'm sorry if you were left with a different impression. Having said that, I regret that we didn't show your table more attentive service, so I'll remind our team of our core customer service values. I hope we'll get another opportunity to show you the same kind of dining experience you're used to with us. -Adolfo

LP: Welcoming, friendly and cozy, there’s ample seating amongst oil paintings and other decor. Staff is super kind and food is clearly all freshly made for each patron. The sangria is GOOD!highly recommend, especially to other silver springers that are considering going to dc for dinner. skip the traffic, the reservations and the disappointment and head here.
Response: You definitely don't have to leave Silver Spring for good Cuban food! Hope to see you back for dinner and another glass of sangria soon. -Adolfo

Regina Crowder: The food was Amazing!! We dined there twice during our 8 days in D.C. area. The owner and the staff were so welcoming and attentive. They gave great recommendations as it was my first time trying authentic Cuban food. I feel in love with the COFFEE and the lemonade drink the owner fixed for our table (not on menu)
Response: Thanks for visiting us not once but twice during your time in the area! I can't wait till the next time you make it back our way for more coffee and lemonade. -Adolfo

Sri Hartono: Delicious! It's my first Cuban food that I've ever had...and it is amazing! The plantain is so unique and tasty...the Pastelon de Carne Eloisa (plantain ontop of ground beef) and File de Pollo a la Parrilla (grilled chicken) areso good! Last but not least the Mojito grande...is The MUST HAVE...👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Response: Juli, thanks for coming to see us for your first taste of Cuban food! There's another mojito grande calling your name, so I hope you'll join us for another good time soon. Cheers! -Adolfo

comfyfuton -: We stopped by here on our way to a show in Silver Spring and we were just amazed! First of all, friendly staff, they were very accomodating and answered whatever questions we had about the food. Of course we had to go for Mojitos for drinks. I felt they were strong, but so delicious. Food itself was awesome, I gotta say the Masitas de Puerco were on point. The plate was left clean after the fact! I thought the portions were great for the price point. Gotta love Cuban cuisine, this is one of my favorite in the DMV area.
Response: Honored to be one of your favorite Cuban restaurants in the area! Hope to see you back for more mojitos and masitas de puerco. -Adolfo

Alan Dennis, Baron of Cowie: Outstanding food and excellent service. Very nice atmosphere. The mojito is excellent.
Response: We're proud to have the best mojito on the East Coast, Alan! Can't wait till the next time you join us for another round. -Adolfo

Natasha Shokouhi: STRONGLY suggest... Empanaditas Olga - Picadillo flavor. Tostones - Fried Green Plantains. Picadillo a lo Ñeñe - A magnificent Cuban hash of beef, speckled by green olives and capers, with diced potatoes, onions, and green peppers joined by a soothingly seasoned tomato sauce. Bistec Palomilla - Finely marinated and thinly sliced top sirloin, flame grilled and blanketed with minced onions and parsley. Mariscada - A hearty mixture of scrumptious seafood: morsels of fresh fish, sparkling shrimp, tender squid, clams, mussels, capers, and black olives in a rich tomato and garlic sauce. Snapper Tropicana - Crispy snapper coated with green plantain, draped in delicate scallop cream sauce and topped with grilled shrimp. Ropa Vieja "Old Clothes" - Shredded beef in Cuban-style sauce with tomato, garlic, onion and red and green peppers. Everything I have had here is amazing. But the Bistec Palomilla & Mariscada are my top two favorites at the moment. MOJITOS are AMAZING. And the flan.... is TO DIE FOR. Service is EXCELLENT. Best Cuban in the entire DMV area - hands down.
Response: Thanks for saying we've got the best Cuban food in the area, Natasha! I also appreciate you sharing your favorite dishes with our future guests. Looking forward to the next time I see you back for more bistec palomilla and mariscada! -Adolfo

Sofia P-A: Unfortunately, my visit here left me wanting. I was looking for good Cuban food outside of Miami, and have yet to find it. When we arrived at the restaurant, it was almost empty and my husband and I were seated at a tiny 2 person table squished up against the window. I would understand if the restaurant was busy, but I couldn’t see the reason why when there were at most 4 other patrons at the restaurant at the time. The restaurant is also run down and did not feel clean. I spoke to the waiter in Spanish, and he was very obviously surprised. After he left our table, I overheard him telling someone that I spoke Spanish, which leads me to believe that the staff may speak badly about the patrons in Spanish on a regular basis and count on them not being able to understand. If that’s the case, it’s a bad look, and they should at least be smarter and talk smack in the kitchen where it’s harder to overhear the conversation. The menu has some “authentic” items, but as with many Latin restaurants, the menu inevitably includes food from other Latin American cultures. Those who don’t know differently probably wouldn’t be bothered, but it is a pet peeve of mine as a Cuban. Some of the food is Americanized, but that’s likely just a side effect of having to appeal to a wider audience. The food arrived mostly warm, but not hot. It was clear it had sat for some time. The portions were very small, and the food was lacking in flavor and boring. As a whole, the menu was overpriced. In summary, skip the visit here. Save your pennies, grab a Southwest direct flight to Miami, and treat yourself to real Cuban food.
Response: Sofia, I can assure you that's not like our staff to speak behind our customers' backs. As for the food, I'm surprised to hear our bolder flavors didn't shine through for you this time. I wish you had brought your concerns to our attention, as we're always happy to find you something more to your liking. We'd love another opportunity to impress you. -Adolfo

Lim supriatna: Best place and food for autentic restaurant in Silver Spring…#Chinito mucho Loco# 👌👍
Response: Lim, it's great to hear our authentic Cuban flavors shined through so nicely for you! Hope to have you back for another meal soon. -Adolfo

Colada Shop: what do users think?

Dimitri Ivanoff: Small but busy restaurant. It's not on the waterfront and you can easily miss it unless you walk along Pearl Street. Food is good - Havana Ohh La La is definitely worth the money. Reservation is almost a must. For pick-up they have a special area so it's not jammed.

Hind KH: It’s a cute place. They serve Cuban coffee and other coffee as well. For me the Cuban is sweet and strong but it was a nice experience. They serve breakfast fast as well and it was yummy I have tried Empanadas with spinach.

Jennifer Trent: Super cute shop and really delicious food. Great ordering system outside at a kiosk,m if you want your food to go, or order inside if you want to stay and eat. Side patio area in the alley also available. We got ours to go. It was a busy Saturday night and waited about 25 minutes for our food after ordering, reasonable for the busy time and great quality of food. Salads are absolutely delicious, fresh and abundant. Just wish I’d had time to try one of their Cuban sandwiches before leaving.

Ivonne Rivera Blessed Home Team: Really nice and cozy place. The atmosphere really nice. Love the cute decor. The food was uniquely delicious. The guava sauce bbq pork sandwich was the best one for me, the egg with chorizo in sauce was good, my daughter got the French toast with sweet plantains was good as well. The coquito expreso was great combination. Well the point is, that you need to visit this place if you are in DC. Is worth it.

Christopher Lew: I've been here before and got the empanadas, and from what I remember they were delicious! This time around, we decided to try the croquetas, and it was not good all! We got the ham and their seasonal croqueta which I believe had okra in it, and they both had the consistency between apple sauce and mushy bananas, and the flavors just weren't there for us. In addition, for 2 orders, we were only given 1 sauce, and we had to ration the sauce which was similar to - if not - tzatziki. The sauce was good, and we wanted to use the sauce to mask the flavor of the croqueta fillings. At least the fry crunch was good. The decor was cherry blossom themed and very cute as well as they were in a competition with the rest of the wharf restaurants for best dressed cherry blossom theme.

Mischa: This is a very nice and cute little Cuban spot with nice decor and in a great location. I only had a soda and a couple empanadas, which cost me just a little over ten dollars. The empanadas were very good, but they were way too small and too expensive in my opinion. The empanadas I had in the neighborhood of Little Havana in Miami were about twice the size for the same price. Other than that, the people working here seemed nice, and overall this place was nice.

RJ Reinert: While not a ton of curbside "pop", you will be sad to have missed this corner cafe while in The Wharf area. From breakfast to dinner, their menu covers the waterfront (ba dum bum!) Had the traditional Cubano. The smell when I unwrapped it was to die for. DELISH. Would definitely return - likely even during this stay.

Amber R: A great fast, casual dining spot at the Wharf. It is on the exterior street side so it is easy to miss. The interior was clean and a great aesthetic with cool colors and greenery spread around. There's a patio with shaded seating. As a mom of toddlers I found the ordering to be so convenient, you can scan the QR code on your table to order or order from the counter. I highly recommend the Media Noche, picadillo empanada and Havana cold brew.

Amelvis Felix-Ortiz: Being from South Florida, I’m all about trying Cuban food at different places. I stoped at the Wharf location. There were two servers behind the counter. One was by the register and the other making mixed drinks. I was told to just scan the code on the counter to order dine-in. Ok, so not very personable. Ordered the guava BBQ lechón sandwich $13.95 ; LG guava/mango drink $5.25; guava pastelito $3.75 ; tostones $6.25 & churros $7.50. I was served the guava pastelito 1st. I thought, “ok, I guess I can eat this 1st and not as part of my dessert”. It was delicious. Next, I got my drink. Super delicious. So far, so good. A few minutes pass and I got everything else all at once. Fast service. The sandwich was very good. Pulled pork with some pickled onions and the bbq guava sauce on top. It could had used a bit more sauce but it’s ok. Got 5 tostones (that’s equivalent to one whole plantain) with a side of very cold mojo. I’d suggest leaving the mojo at room temperature, it taste better that way and it’s the way it’s served everywhere in south Florida. I figured I would had gotten the churros last so I could have them fresh as my dessert but by the time I got to them, they were cold. So they weren’t very good. Overall, the food was ok and very overpriced. They make you tip automatically when you order too. I wouldn’t have given as much as I did if I would of gotten a true dine-in experience that they don’t offer.

Julia Cheung: Had the Colado Shop Cuban Sandwich from the takeout window. Super cute place that I’ve driven past a million times and have wanted to try. Sandwich (a soft toasted fusion of maybe a Reuben meets pulled pork meets panini is how I would describe it) ended up being $16 after tax and tip…just seems really steep for a single sandwich! It was piping hot and a great blend of flavors but for fast casual like that, just know you are paying Wharf DC prices. I would come back for ambience and a snack and drink but you’re paying to be at the wharf in a cute spot. Just be warned

    Cubano’s: what do users think?

Avik Dutta: A nice Cuban style restaurant. Its expensive $$$. The food is tasty. The ambiance is nice and the staff are friendly and helpful. Food options are limited and seems to us the restaurant belongs to a fine dine category. The porstion sizes are small. Less sharing options. They also have a bar inside where you can also seat. Trying a new kind of cuisine is always recommended.

Daniel Whodat: Cubanos is very nice, the decor and layout definitely throws a bit of a classy vibe. (The prices reflect that) haha I mean it is Bethesda so it’s expected. But the food and service did not disappoint, so much flavor, and constant attention. Side note the bathrooms were also clean and look fairly new. Honestly I rated it a 4 not 5 ONLY because, aside from the Cuban sandwich almost every entree is 30$ and up (sheesh) even half the cocktails on the menu were above 15$ a piece (sheesh) still gonna go back tho 😅

Ece Cetin: The BEST Cuban food I’ve had, anywhere else than Cuba of course! Amazing interior design, friendly staff, and DELICIOUS food! What else can you ask for!? Give this place a try, and it will be your new favorite in town 💕💕And the COCONUT FLAN was just, paradise……. Millions of Thanks to the owners and workers 🌸🌸

George Junca: Great Cuban food and mojitos, many options in appetizers and entrees

Priyanka Desai: Awesome mojitos and that little piece of fresh sugar cane they put in it is delicious. I didn't eat here but the group I was with ordered everything on the specials appetizer menu! It looked really good and the presentation was great. Super cute spot, nicely decorated and the bar is really inviting.

Martha Rodriguez: The atmosphere was nice and good spacing given Covid. The Waiter seemed to be nice and helpful as well. I was a little taken aback by the menu prices, but thought, it may be okay given the vibes of the restaurant. I wanted something light so I ordered the Pan Seared Sea Bass. The fish came out dry and hard on the edges. The sauce beneath was very salty. I was a little taken aback and my first impulse was to send it back. I did not and regret it. I did call the waiter over and mentioned the issue. They talked amongst themselves but no one mentioned it again until time to pay the bill. I also had ordered extra spinach, which I was surprised to see was an extra $7 on my bill. Very disappointed. The guy who presented the check apologized for the over cooked sea bass and said they would do better next time.. I don't think so... will not be going there again. My husband liked his meal... I guess you have to stick to traditional cuban dishes....

Janice Vazquez: Delicious meal! We started with three fried arepas to start. The pork was succulent, the sliced vegetables on top was amazing! The seafood rice soup was delectable and incredible! Incredible flavors! Very very tasty, I would definitely come back for more! The service was outstanding as well!

Carlo Merhi: Deeeelicious! True Cuban cuisine. The food was so flavorful, presented beautifully and was super fresh. The staff was very hospitable and attentive. The flan tasted like it was homemade with the perfect texture and just the right amount of sweetness. We are absolutely going to be regulars of this wonderful spot.

Lim supriatna: Good atmosphere and very friendly people…and good foods and drinks 👍

C Lilakos: Hands down some of the best Cuban food I’ve ever had and easily one of the best restaurants in the DMV area that I’ve been to. The food was amazing, service was amazing, and the decor is great. The food was priced fairly and a great value.

El Sapo Cuban Social Club: what do users think?

Sandrine Masseron-Tiller: This place was lovely! The ambiance was amazing. The Mojito is a must! The best hands down. Everything that I indulged in was superb! The only thing that I could suggest is that the staff be a bit more attentive as far as checking in on the table periodically…(water, etc…).

Leola: We hosted a private event here and it was lovely! Edwin and his team were fantastic, everyone enjoyed it! The Coca Cola chicken, churros, and shrimp ceviche were delicious! The ropa vieja is definitely different, not that good. But the drinks were good and we would definitely host another event here. Thank you!

Shari Costanzo: This place is the best, this is coming from my Cuban boyfriend. He said the flavors and dishes are authentic to Cuban cuisine, very flavorful! The pitcher if mojito's was awesome too. Great staff and atmosphere. This place is a gem!

Chioma O: This is going to be my new go to spot in SS. Great drinks..great food and service. December 2021..went for brunch and was quite delicious..ordered the chicken and waffles..FYI the chicken has bones and be sure to indicate if you want white or dark meat if you have a preference. Meal was delicious and the lavender margarita was good too. Also come with cash if with a decent sized group as splitting checks could be a problem. My friends enjoyed their meals as well so definitely a place to check out

Surbhi Kanotra: The happy hour here was amazing. We got the lavender margarita picture and the Chupate tus Dedos (Lick your fingers) appetizer sampler. All the food was delicious! But between the three of us we still couldn't finish all the food. And bread flatten music playing but just a little too loud. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

J Ruffin: I really enjoyed the atmosphere here and the service is nice too. I went towards the end of happy hour (yes! Pitchers of mojitos on the Happy Hour menu!) and although there was a line, my party of two was sat pretty quickly. I like how they dont take names for those waiting for tables but instead sit parties as they come in. They also take your drink order, etc right after they seat you For food we ordered the Croquettes de Bacalao, Ropa Vieja, Scallops and Coconut ceviches, and churros with whipped cream on the side for dessert. Everything came out great and tasted amazing. I was a little disappointed that the ceviche didnt come with a side item but it was still a great dish on its own. But I guess since this is a Cuban restaurant and not a a typical tex-mex restaurant, this should be expected. I wanted to order a scoop of ice cream, but was bummed they only served ice cream with toasted coconut flakes on top and didnt offer individual scoops--so it seems there arent many options to customize menu items. I'll definitely be back to this great spot in downtown Silver Spring. So excited this food option is here with nice outdoor seating options (though not shaded). The corner wall of the bar restaurant can even open to provide an open air experience with the bar being accessed from outdoor. So perfect!

Svetlana Shkolyar: I visited this place twice. The first time, we enjoyed the food a lot but the alcoholic drinks too weak and overpriced. The second time, they really messed up. I made reservations for my party of four three nights before. I called and asked for outdoor seating with heaters. I was told it was definitely going to be possible and to note it on my online reservation. So I did. The night of dinner, it was very chilly for April. The restaurant just decided they would not seat outside. But two weeks before that, we dined outside without issues. My party of four was forced to make alternative plans. This place has heaters ready to go but decided not to put them out or do outdoor dining because it was a little windy and chilly. There's still a pandemic going on, and many people are not comfortable dining indoors, still! Why can't this place understand that? And why did they tell us the wrong info when we were organized enough to check and reserve an outdoor spot in advance? They ruined our night - we were literally left out in the cold to figure out alternative plans. In short, I do not recommend this restaurant.

Reina Walker: Ropa Vieja was no such thing! Beef tasted burnt and was not the right color. Black beans were not Cuban style at all. I grew up eating Miami- style and Havana- style Cuban and this just doesn’t cut it.

Ellisha Teapot: El Sapo Cuban is my new favorite restaurant! EVERYTHING was delicious! Everyone was super friendly!I've brought a few people there to take in the full experience. And I will be back!

Alejandro Cruz: Very nice and clean environment. There was outdoor and indoor seating available. The food was very delicious. I recommend this place for for some very authentic flavors. The mojito was very refreshing. Not pictured are the desserts which was also delicious. My friend mentioned there is no such thing as the perfect flan but this is pretty close.

Dee L.: 20 years later and still consistently delicious. Easy ordering, friendly staff, no bad decisions available! CG is a sure thing. Enjoy!

F Elix: OnoLiscious (Delicious) Caribbean Food in Arlington!I tried the Jerked Chicken & Cuban Rice and it is Amazing! I'm Definitely Coming Back to Taste the other dishes they offer. Old School Authentic Decor. Lots of People Dining and Enjoying the Delicious Caribbean Food. Definitely Worth a Try...

Edgar Callwood: I order spicy stew chicken with rice And the chicken was raw. And the young lady behind the counter said some of chicken to be like that. Do not eat there.

Lizbeth: I loved this place. Amazing authentic Caribbean cousine. The staff was so nice and attentive. Everything was clean, it made me feel like home.

Anne Styka: Service is good and quick. It's my favorite go to for lunch when I am in the area, and I almost always get the Cubano sandwich but many things on the menu look and smell delicious.

Tanner Starr: I never rate 5 stars, but the quality of food and price here is amazing

P T: Wow. This place has excellent food. I ordered the chicken stew . The takeout portion was perfect . I love Cuban food and I love this place. I will be back soon. The prices are perfect.

S King: I have always ordered the chicken. The chicken is always delicious. The jerk chicken has a flavorful heat, not just hot pepper. This time we ordered a burrito. Great taste. Really stuffed with meat and not just filler. So much food, could not finish it in one sitting.

D Money: Came here on my lunch break for some curry , it was delicious ! Only intended to get one order and ended up buying another order for later. Very good food . Very good staff . Food came out fast as well . Definitely coming back here.

Patrick Schwartz: Ah-mazing chicken. Best rice and beans I have had since I lived in Brasil. My go-to spot for roasted chicken. Don’t forget to try their secret green sauce. A nice steady heat. This is where I take my out-of-town friends to show them how Arlington rolls! Highly recommend.

Casta's Rum Bar: what do users think?

Marlene Singh: Visited for happy hour and they did not disappoint! Food service lacked as some items took and extensively long time to come out of the kitchen however, the bar service was amazing! The happy hour food menu was pricey in comparison to other happy hours but the dishes were worth the price. We decide to go with cocktail pitchers for HH the first pitcher was a bit watered down but after a discussion with the bartender he ensured the other pitchers we perfect!
Response: We're glad to hear that you had a great experience at Casta's! We hope to see you again soon!

Lisa Mayberry: Loved that they have a Cuban rum bar with my favorite drinks! Cool little kind of hidden bar. I did not try the food, just went for the cocktails. Server warned us of the pre-included gratuity. Warning though, if you don't like cigar smoke you won't like it if someone decides to light up a cigar from their collection. The outside bar at least does allow smoking. There is a cover over the alley way allowing light in but no rain. Several air units and fans make it better.
Response: Hi Lisa, thank you for the review. I'd love to hear what else we could have done to get a 5 star review from you. If you wouldn't mind, please send me an email at info@castasrumbar.com with more info!

Quauhtli Olivieri: Love this spot! Whether you are looking for just drinks, drinks and small plates, or you want a Latin dancing spot, this is a great spot.Main indoor area turns into club dancing spot at 10pm on the weekends.
Response: Hi Quauhtli! We are so glad you enjoyed your time at Castas, thanks for the review!

Melanie Rodriguez: I spent hours searching for restaurants to take my family too while we were on vacation. I came across Casta's Rum Bar and was extremely excited to give this place a try. When I got there, I was utterly disgusted with the entrance to the restaurant. There was trash right by the entrance and disgusting garbage leakage where we had to walk. When I walked in, I thought maybe it would get better but it really didn't. They placed us in an area that was extremely hot. I was drenched in sweat. This is something I would expect for outdoor but it was indoor. When ordering the food, I thought it was extremely overpriced and I was right especially once we received our meals. They were not worth any price that was listed. The empanadas were 2 for $12. While that would have been an okay price to pay if they were outstanding empanadas, these were subpar and quite dry. Then before we can even finish it and without asking for our permission, one of the staff came and took the plate. While the manager tried to reconcile by comping that portion of the meal, the damage was already done. Additionally, forcing customers to pay 20% gratuity for poor service is unacceptable. I could understand if the group was large, their was only 3 of us. Lastly, I was not made aware that this was a smoking area and was very displeased having to be exposed to another person's cigar smoke. Beyond disappointed and would not recommend.
Response: Hi Melanie, we're sorry to hear that you did not have a great experience with us. We strive to provide excellent service, food, and atmosphere and we are sorry that we fell short. Please send us an email at info@castasrumbar.com so we can do better next time!

Arielle H: Great atmosphere and even better staff & food. Though we only got appetizers (empanadas and Cuban soup) they were delicious. Also Oscar our host was so nice & knowledgeable. Definitely recommend the rum flights & a smooth cigar to go with them.
Response: Thanks for the 5 star review Arielle!

Tasha Fuller: That was some good eatin’ at Casta's Rum Bar last night. Shrimp, ribs, bacon wrapped plantains with cheese, empanadas and a classic Cuban hit the bill and our belly’s. You gotta check it out.
Response: Thank you for your 5-Star review Tasha, hope to see you again soon!

Michelle Jiles: I celebrated my birthday yesterday at Casta’s rum bar. The service is received from my servers Tatiana and Francisco was out of the world. My party and I were so pleased with their patience, attentiveness, and how fun they made my birthday! I can’t wait to go back and again thank you Francisco and Tatiana!

Michael Furmaniuk: Nice little gem! Great rum flights and mojitos, the Black Hummus even got my wife to like plantain chips. Felipe was awesome! Lots of varieties of rum, (try a flight!), and the appetizers are a good pairing.
Response: Hi Michael, thank you for the review!

Brianna Villa: This place is just absolutely fantastic. I was staying at the hotel upstairs and it was just so convenient to not have to leave to enjoy myself. I came here every single night that I stayed at this hotel because I felt safe and welcomed. Frankie was the absolute best bartender he gave me great service each night and was just so kind. The food was great too I had the medianoche each day. The Thursday night DJ, she was female and I cannot recall her name, but that was probably the most fun I’ve ever had at a bar on a Thursday night. Friday night music was not as great with the other gentleman but nonetheless Frankie Gave amazing service and it was just a good time. Thank you so much
Response: We're so glad you decided to venture out of the hotel to check us out Brianna. We thank you for your 5-Star review and hope that your next visit is better than your last!

Richard Nelson: Overall a nice experience. Drinks tasted good. It didn't smell to smokey when we went. The empanadas tasted good, however you only got two and they were a little pricey for only have two. The vibe was nice. Great little bar.
Response: Thank you for the review, Richard!

Colada Shop: what do users think?

andrew: The cutest and perfect place for anyone looking for a quiet/spacious spot to work. Also great if you’re just looking to grab a coffee and bite with friends. The view from the rooftop is absolutely amazing! They have both indoor and outdoor seating, with a lot more outdoor. Heaters are provided outside so no need to worry about freezing your tush off. The lattes are great, but what keeps me coming back is their cookie. You can find that cookie on the counter right by the register. If I lived a bit closer to Colada, you would find me here everyday J For reals though, check out the rooftop.

Dondré: I was a big fan of the pineapple french toast with plantains. It was great. I nice spin on french toast. This location is dope with a lot of options for outdoor seating on the nice days, especially in that alleyway. They have a really good expansive menu and a good amount of drink options.

Holly Hieu Vo: Strong coffee, like very strong. Great space for sitting down and work too! My only dislike is that they play really loud music which can be bothersome when you need to focus or even to talk to each other.

Tamara Drpic: Vibe and aesthetic is immaculate. The roof top in warm weather is a must! Prices are a little steep, but hey, it’s DC 🤷🏻‍♀️

chparatrooper88: Roof top bar is the place to be. Drinks in bags…yes please. Price is D.C. Friendly staff.

Daniel D: Sandwiches are usually not my go-to lunch, but today I was feeling like experimenting around my neighborhood. I was so glad I did, as the sandwich they gave me (BBQ pork) was probably one of the best I've had in DC! The flavor was incredible, and the portion was generous. For $14 I had a great lunch, and will definitely be coming back.

Stephanie Corte: I had late-night cocktails in a pouch with an old friend. It was my first time here, and I had a great time. The outdoor area was lovely and had a cozy feel. I also tried the tres leches cake in a jar and was surprised by how moist and tasty the cake was. This is definitely a great spot for catching up with friends.

Elizabeth Dou: Got a chance to stop by over the weekend! The cuban was very tasty, great pickle. The empanadas were good too! the dough was nice and light. Will hopefully be back to dry their drinks and other foods.

Alexander Oaks: This is the spot. Good coffee in the morning and strong drinks at night. Really good Columbian food! Get the empanadas or bbq sandwich

Guy Manly: Wonderful, busy, tiny cafe. Unsurprisingly, they make a perfect cafe Cubano (though being served in paper rather than a demitasse does cost the experience slightly - maybe they have them but don't offer them when it's busy). The tiramisu was also great; I was skeptical when it came in a little plastic jar, but I was pleasantly incorrect for doubting. Would definitely visit again.

Chupacabra Latin Kitchen & Taqueria: what do users think?

Jmelle Harris: This place is under new management! Unfortunately, I had a generally unpleasant experience! I stopped past with about 6 months lapse between last visit and now. To start, the cashier seemed generally bored. She displayed irritation as I placed my order - I chucked it up to it being 4:40 PM and it not being the coolest day. The fish on the fish tacos is no longer baked but instead fried; an unhealthy alternative to what used to be a healthy quick choice. When I mentioned the difference, the chef/manager argues with me saying the fish couldn't have been grilled since the last owners didn't have a grill. I expressed that it may have been baked but certainly not fried. (He scoffs) The prices are noticably different with an additional $4 give or take added to each menu item compared to before. I'll pass 🤷🏽‍♀️ *Edit after meal and after review of previous response*: Your response is an testament to the services rendered. The community can decide. I changed my order because of the unexpected change in pricing. The interaction was definitely strained. :) As for the fried food that I accepted out of hunger, frustration, lack of additional energy to put into this, then(and generally still wanting to give my PREVIOUSLY favorite H ST taco place a chance), I enjoyed the tacos. They were quite delicious although not the healthier options that used to be presented under previous management. I am hopeful that you are able to consistently greet and entertain customers of future patronage as we undergo this obvious change in our neighborhood. It's only natural to mention the changes. Let's face it, even the tone in this response doesn't reflect the previous owners'. I'll continue to pass 🤷🏽‍♀️
Response: Jmelle, I'm sorry to see this review, but this review is completely inaccurate and unfair. You were greated nicely, given a menu to read, and then ordered. You then changed your mind 2 times on what you wanted and the bartender adjusted the order. You were the one that got irrated when I brought out your fish Tacos, and asked if you wanted salsa. I explained that they are fried and come with Chipotle Aoili, and some people like salsa as well. You then proceeded to tell me how things have changed and that "Normally you don't accept fried food, but you'll make an exception this time", and then left. I never scoffed at that comment but I did explain that the fish has always been friend becuase there is no over or grille to cook them on. You're comment was rude and demeaning to myself and my staff. The only person that scoffed or was irrated was you. My staff giving great customer service is important, but being a good customer is just as important. I'm sorry you didn't pay attention to the menu when you ordered. I would have been happy to make you something else but the manner in which you left didnt allow me or the bartneder to offer any help. Enjoy the fish tacos

Amanda Juncaj: Best birria tacos we’ve ever had! Great music playing and patio atmosphere was very chill. Service was excellent even though they were clearly short-staffed with only two people. Will definitely be back soon

Alexis Smith: This place used to be good but I guess they’re under new management/owners and it’s awful! The owner guy is extremely rude with a condescending attitude. I walked in and instead of the owner saying “hey sorry I can’t take your order right now, our internet is down” he points to the door and says leave. You can’t talk to your customers any type of way especially when they’re paying YOUR BILLS. The lady who I think is the manager has a wanna-be bully style of talking to her employees and customers. I’ve been here twice since they reopened and both times have been horrible. Some of the prices have doubled since reopening but went down in flavor. This place used to be a gem but now it’s a mediocre excuse for a restaurant. Might as well order Taco Bell with the way the food and service is here now.

thank you: So disappointed with this restaurant today I've been going to them for yrs !!! And the staff today was rude the older guy with the grey curls to be exact. He had a attitude each time I asked about items on the menu or something for our table. And I loved going to them because of there different spicy sauces and today the guy act as if he didn't know what I was talking about. Also I see they added cheese in my bowl which they usually don't put. You would think they would ask and see if you would like it inside not everyone eats dairy. And our drinks were weakkkk.

Jim Platner: Chupacabra has consistently great burritos and tacos, as well as excellent hot sauces. We frequently get their food for takeout and enjoy it thoroughly. While they were closed for a while recently we have seen they have opened back up!

Tiana E: We have been riding past this place for some time now saying that we would try it and we finally did. We were pleasantly greeted by Amber the bartender and our server and they don’t have indoor seating but glad the weather was perfect for the patio! She was energetic and enthusiastic about helping us the entire time and it was plus that her vibe was great and she was an Eagles fan! We ordered a frozen margarita (don’t waste your time on it) two margaritas (good) and the taco special 4 tacos and 2 beers for $20 we wanted the birria tacos but they were out. We settled for the barbacoa with some of the consume on the side - it was just MEHHH!!! The tacos were sitting in broth, which made them soggy, and kind of falling apart. They were packed with a good amount of meat - which was a plus and the consume wasn’t that flavorful but wasn’t horrible either. OVERALL: 4/5 Food: 7/10 Drinks: 8/10 Service: 10/10

Marisa Iannelli: In town for the weekend and came across this great spot for dinner! Food was delicious and was a great VIBE. Super friendly and hospitable staff. You can't leave without a margarita made by Jessica!

Alyssa Louise McCall: I cannot say enough about this place!! The food, the drinks, and the customer service are amazing! Thank you for showing our friend so much love for his birthday!

Joe Ryan: Nice outside area, great food. Everything so fresh and very tasty. If you like hot sauces, they got you.

Vinny C.: Anyone can do tacos, but not like this! If you want flavorful food served up by a friendly staff the Chupacabra delivers. While there I overheard a co-owner talking with patrons about the menu and what they liked. Come to find out they've been in business for 8 years with customers driving in from outside the Beltway. So have a seat, enjoy the sounds of the city, and make some memories over some great food!

El Rinconcito Cafe: what do users think?

Food Enthusiast: Great food, reasonable prices, and large portions! The restaurant is small but cozy and very clean. The staff are very kind and welcoming. I will definitely come back and try their other dishes. One of the best Salvadorian food restaurants I have been to in DC!

Asif Rehmani: Food is very tasty. I had the beef chimichanga and I thought it was pretty good. Also the pricing is very reasonable. The platter for chimichanga was $11. This place is in the heart of downtown DC so it's hard to get a better deal than that. I was there at the time that they were going to close and most of the clientele that time are people at the bar. I noticed many people coming and going with their takeout orders and those sitting at the bar. All 100% Mexican it seemed. Good friendly crowd. However don't expect to hold a conversation with anyone unless you speak Spanish yourself 🙂

Elizabeth Tate: This place has the best horchata and the best enchiladas I have ever had. Every bite of this meal has bursts of flavor! The refried beans were 💯, and the salad on the side with the sour cream and guacamole wasn’t just that, it had a bit of salad dressing on it too! Ever been part of the clean plate club? This place will make you a part of it so fast you will want to come back for more 🤩

Michael “Newmie” Newman: #Update 5/24/2022 — pupusas de queso para llevar! Que Rica Comida! Y no tan caro! 🤠 The best pupusas in the NW DC quadrant! This eponymously named “Little Corner” restaurant sits just enough patrons, including a few bar stools, to make a simple weekend lunch feel like a Fiesta con Familia! With a flair for Comida Latina, especially from El Salvador 🇸🇻, there is plenty of La Vida Feliz to meet everyone’s particular “el disfrute” wish. Pupusas, tacos al carbon, fajitas, nachos… the standard fare expected and well-glamored… and thusly prepared finely by a hidden kitchen that certainly possesses the culinary culture deeply ingrained. Mi Contessa had two chicken enchiladas (“rojas”) which she found to be quite delicious and served warm, not too hot. With the small salad (“pico de gallo”) and an illuminating beans & rice combo on the platter, her hope for a blessed Mother’s Day meal was realized. The can of ginger ale was a surprisingly pricey addition to an otherwise very, very good bargain lunch celebration at this hidden hacienda. For me, my enchiladas were filled with frijoles (currently necessity requires eating less meats, though proteins are crucially important). The tortillas themselves were the best part, quite refined and baked evenly. Nicely evened “queso” melted on top, with a bit less smattering of the salsa than i was hoping for. Still, quite flavorful, even with a slight disappointment over the refried beans wrapped up. (Not so sure, but perhaps not homemade but from a can.) Overall the meal was quite what one will want when seeking a simple meal alone or small group desiring traditional Central American cuisine. However, the happy vibe of this hard to find place must not be underestimated, and the two mesera gentlemen really enjoy doing the serving to please — a service not found easily as well during our Covidmess times. *** ⚽️ on the televisions also! … Barca o Real Madrid??? You decide, Caballero!*** 🤠✌️✌🏽

Shaughnessy Miller: I hadn't had pupusas in years and was craving them on my visit to DC. This hole-in-the-wall did not disappoint. I ordered the 2 pupusas, 1 tamal de elote combinación and the yuka frita. The food came out quickly and was super rica! Everyone was very friendly, and the music also added buen ambiente. Definitely stop in!

Logan Gore: Yum! Yum! Yum! It’s hard to find good and authentic pupusas that aren’t too greasy but this place has them! Sooooo good! I ordered two chicken and two pork pupusas. They are huge! I didn’t need four haha! And a side of fried plantains! Small hole in the wall very much worth visiting!!

Cory Laws: My kind of place. My wife finds us interesting eateries. It was late and we needed lunch. This was highly rated, within 2 blocks of our hotel, and we didn't even need to cross a street. It was almost empty when we arrived, but there was a steady flow of take out customers. Then eat-ins. I didn't think the nachos would be sufficient, but boy was I wrong. Well done, generous, fresh, and a Negra Modelo for each of us. The Salvadoran seafood soup delivered to the next table was both great looking and smelling. The customer took his time to enjoy it all. I'd love a return visit to try a "real" dinner, not just a huge appetizer.

Elliott McClelland: Highly recommended! This neighborhood find was a great surprise. Authentic Salvadoran food with friendly staff. The pupusas were great, and I loved the chicharrones. If you are in town near the convention center, give this place a try!

Gaelle Claude: Nobody does Salvadoran food like they do at El Riconcito Cafe. I first found out about this place from my boyfriend and his coworker who had been there once before. They raved about how great the food was but I honestly underestimated how good it was until I tried it. It’s a nice, small cozy restaurant with the authentic vibes. I have been there a couple of time by now but the first time I ordered chicken enchiladas which came with a side of rice and beans, guacamole and sour cream — 9/10. They have great portions for fairly low prices. I also tried their horchata with a shot of Hennessy; it was pretty good. The next time I went I got a chicken chimichanga which was also a hit. Their customer service is on point. This place is a must try! Overall the experience is 10/10

Melissa Davis: This place is phenomenal !!! the food is very delicious, the coffee and the natural juices tasted very good, the owner and the waitresses are very friendly and we found the place to be cozy and very clean.

Cafe Sazon: what do users think?

Chris Williams: High quality comfort food that just hits every time. Filling, rich, and has that special homemade feeling of care. Cool, calm, and pleasant environment, at least for lunch. Menu selection is expansive and service is very helpful. Only criticism is that they were a bit too expensive than your common Mexican restaurant (yes I realize this isn’t Mexican, just a simple comparison). Would still love to come back!

Andres Felipe Lopera Gracia: The food was amazing. I am from Colombia and the seasoning felt just like back home. They have an awesome background music (Flute de Pan) and the bakery place looks delicious 😋. I ate soup and then lentils. The empanadas are a must-have. The coffee is far above average. Delicioso. 😎 👍

juan rosa: Friendly environment and staff. The food is great. Drink selection is not hugh buy it is good. This is not an upscale and super fancy restaurant but a good place to get food. Or a quick bite to eat and a great alternative to fast food. The breakfast meals are the greatest choices. The cuisine is Mexican/Salvadoran/Colombian. The price is okay. This is a great place to get a meal if your passing by or visiting town.

Rachel Mangum: Loved my meal. I loved how fresh everything tasted. I got bean pupusas and the vegetarian sampler platter. I wish there was an option to have bean AND cheese pupusas (I did not see it on Uber eats menu). I would like to get it again.

Sangeeta Rao: Café Sazón is an institution, a staple, a second home! The owner is just as incredible as the baked goods, coffee, and empanadas. Located off of Columbia Pike, this cafe offers a wide selection of bakery sweets and breads, sandwiches, delicious main course items like carne asada, pupusas, Bolivian cuisine favorites, and delicious smoothies and shakes. Ample seating inside, ample parking out front, and friendly service make this cafe the regular meeting spot for our Arlington Dem Latino Caucus meetings. It is the one place we can always agree on!

Hannah Smith: This place is soooooo good! I ordered the sampler and a chicken pupusa. You can hear the chefs making the tortillas and pupusas in the back, so you know it’s authentic (and good)! Fried plantains and fried yucca ✨chef’s kiss✨ I went on a Friday night and there were only 3-4 people in the dining area. This place is too good to not be busy every night!!

L J: Man, I had really high hopes for this place. My spouse decided to treat me, his mother and sister in law to brunch along with 3 other family members. We called the day before for a reservation because of Mother's day. Well... after we placed our order, it took 20 minutes to get drinks, and over an hour to get our food. We waited patiently but every single other person got their orders before us and even people coming in placing to go orders were getting theirs first. Then we overheard one of the women admitted they forgot about us. Well that sucked. Ultimately my mother in law was almost late to work because after an hour and a half we had only just gotten our food. The food was okay, but I'd sooner go to any other spot. Maybe they should have just stayed a bakery? I'm disappointed because he chose this spot after seeing it featured on WETA and to be honest it really did look promising. Won't be back.

Brian: Fresh made pastries. I had the Pupusa and it was delicious. Also the fajita mixta. Delicious seasoning.Very inviting atmosphere. The staff are very welcoming.I highly recommend Cafe Salon.

Nizar Farsakh: Lovely little place with a very sweet and welcoming host. They serve that Mexican Coke and the queso were so good I took all the ones they had left to go. Also the decor was nice and the TV plays Latin songs ir Futbol!

Arayoan Vergara: This is our go-to place for Latin American food. We never dine-in, always pick-up, but they are extremely nice, they’re bilingual, and the quality of the food for the price is great. We always get carne asada, sometimes pupusas, and the good is delicious. Not the kind of food that’s super heavy on grease or salt, just deliciously seasoned every time. They also decorate the place for special holidays, and we always love to see what they did to the place.

Amanda Blake: Clubby atmosphere with GREAT Latin music, amazing food, killer happy hour deals, and excellent service! The Latin hot dogs and beef arepa are both fantastic and a steal (2 hot dogs for $8 in THIS town??), plus happy hour is every night from 6 to 8. We were there pretty early for just dinner, but it would be an epic dance spot later in the night. 10/10 can't wait to go back!

Ed: Good vibe and good food. Definitely a place I will visit again, staff is friendly and music is great. After 9:30 pm the vibes gets better. Recommended

Jaime D: Good drinks and good music. Vibe was great but food was disgusting. You'll come here to hang out with drinks and do a little dancing with friends/ppl but you won't come here for the food.

Tariro Chimhandamba: If you're new to DC and looking for chilled vibes in the early evening and a party later that night this is definitely the place to go. The bartender are super friendly the drinks are amazing. Just a reall great atmosphere, it caught me off guard but i really enjoyed myself. Good priced food and drink's. Favorite drink was a Moscow Mule

Veronica: This is for the club. The music is great. Apparently though, they will restrict water unless you continue to buy alcohol. I do believe this is ilegal no? Very disappointed that this establishment would withhold water from people who need it. To quote the bartender: " I can't keep feeding you water all night".

Gerald Mansfield: Had a wonderful time here last night celebrating a bachelorette party with a couple of our girlfriends, we had no idea that he shows existed at this location. Now that we have attended the show at this location for the bachelorette party last night and had their food, we will definitely be back. What a hidden gem

sol sol: the food is good and the place very fun.

Jose Martinez: This may be the best nightclub for the Hispanic community! However, they did make numerous discriminatory decisions against Deaf/HH partygoers. I went there many times, but the bartender was very busy and stressed. Too bad! We are using our phone to communicate what kind of drinks we want. That's extremely easy to read to allow them understand, rather than screaming at their ears for their damn drinks. All of a sudden, the woman quickly waved/flipped our phone. She mentioned, "I cannot communicate with you because you cannot hear." Oh, this is 2022! There are many devices and apps to communicate with each other. Let's preparty first, then enter that bar without asking them for a drink. They are extremely rude.

Marilyn Sanin: Amazing night scene, owner is spectacular! Great drinks, music, and lively crowd! They even have a smoking room upstairs! Love this place, fave club in DC

Michael John: This establishment is extremely racist and did not let my friend in because he is asian. DO NOT go here and support this racist bar. Find somewhere else.

Cuba De Ayer Restaurant: what do users think?

Sarah Oyekoya: Their food is beyond good we started off with the empanadas and let me tell you they are cooked to perfection and made fresh to order I promise. We got a bit greedy and got the garlic shrimp over the avocado with bread on the side and I literally come here for the Garlic shrimp they add a spice of love into it. Now for the meal I had shrimp white rice sweet plantains and a side salad. They ask how you want your plantains which is perfect we’re all a little different ! Something about that sauce touching the rice that makes you do a happy dance every time. The flavor is also very consistent Everytime so you won’t be upset coming back. We also had the pork chops and let’s talk about someone in the kitchen knowing how to season like a professional! Overall the experience was great and the price was not bad for all the food we got !

Daniel Whodat: Really nice place, the outside is kind of small looking and tucked away off the main road. The inside is very well put together, small bar area and nice individual bathrooms. The menu is huge and there’s so many options, the add on sauces are good and they sell small bottles to go of their house made sauce. If you go once you’ll go again.
Response: Thank you so much for your review! We hope to see you again soon to try more our our delicious Cuban entrees.

Kendry Reyes-Chave: Visited Cuba de Ayer for my sister birthday. As usual, they did not disappoint. Our waitress (Marcela G) was excellent. She was super kind, friendly, and extremely knowledgeable of the menu. She was constantly checking on us, making sure everything was okay. The food was great. Tasted like authentic Cuban food. I would 100% recommend this restaurant.

Sivasagar Kalagara: This is a cool place to dine in. The ambiance is really nice. The food tastes really good. Empanadas are their starts definitely try them. I felt its a little expensive for no reason. I definitely recommend this place. You can decide once you are there

Sweet Kitty: It is located in a small shopping area with limited parking. The surrounding environment seemed not very decent. The restaurant was fully filled with Cuba elements, exotic. We ordered Tres Empanadas (beef, chicken and cheese), Seared Scallops, and Arroz Con Pollo. The Tres Empanadas was good, crispy shell and juicy and rich fillings. Recommend. The Seared Scallops was delicious! Especially the sauce in plate, it made the rice tasted sooooo good when mixing with it. Highly recommended! Arroz Con Pollo was OK. The chicken was tasty and juicy. I like the yellow rice as well. Generally speaking, it is a very good restaurant I would recommend. The defect is the serving was too slow. We had waited in our seats for about 20 minutes for our entrees after appetizer.

Inma Guerrero: Best mojito I have had in long time, they make it the proper way and they put a real sugar cane wich I appreciated. We are the Ropa Vieja and the red snapper and it was delicious! For dessert we had the tres leches and we loved it, great service too!

Ray Moreno: Good service. The waitress was very attentive. The arroz con pollo was well seasoned, moist and a generous portion that included three tostones(green fried plantains). The ambiance was nice with classic Cuban music playing. My only complaint was the manager or owner was sitting a couple tables away and disrupted my quiet lunch dealing with staff/operations issues , phone calls on speaker…was hoping for some coffee & flan but decided to leave instead. Restaurants have to pay attention to the small details …

Francisco Ortiz: Tasty Mentirita drink (means little lie in Spanish) . Shrimp app was tasty. Pork was a little dry and missing flavor. Rum cake was good.

Chiahui Chen: The most recommended appetizer is shrimp and avocado, it’s delicious and sauce is good to eat with bread

Lisa Rguez: Delicious Cuban inspired food! The red beans here are my favorite. The restaurant is beautiful and the attention to detail shows. You must try the Yuca with Mojo, the mamey smoothie and of course tostones (fried plantains)

Julia's Empanadas: what do users think?

Alejandra Becerra: This type of empanadas is not similar at Argentina, colombian, or Venezuelan empanadas; they are more big like 2 in 1, haha, and they have a lot of types and flavors, a good experience though.

Ballard Huey: Taste: 4/5. In my professional empanada experience, the style and makeup of empanadas vary widely. I only purchased 1 empanada (a salteña) as a snack and, while it was very large and the dough was very good, I thought the inside to be a little lackluster. That being said, there were other flavors that sounded delicious, so I may have just had an unlucky pick. Service: 5/5. The woman who was running the place was very kind and friendly. She gave me some good recommendations of which flavor I should pick based on her favorites. Definitely a home-style feel. Vibe: 4/5. The restaurant is located right in the Adams-Morgan neighborhood next to a bunch of other cool places. That being said, I wish Julia’s had a bit more life to it. Cost: 5/5. $3 empanadas the size of your hand. Enough said. Julia’s has a banner above its door that reads “We don’t change often. We got it right the first time.” which I think holds true. A nice spot, especially if one is looking for a quick, cheap bite.

Ryan McGorty: Julia’s Empanadas focuses on empanadas and offers a wide selection of fresh offerings. Their focus on empanadas is used more broadly, so you’ll find Jamaican beef patties, Italian calzones, and Israeli bourekas inspired options on the menu. They make them fresh by hand every day and rarely run out of any types. There are two locations now – one south of Dupont Circle, and the original one in Adams Morgan. The original location in Adams Morgan is tiny and plain, but that doesn’t matter – you’re coming here to grab an empanada to go, not to sit and enjoy the ambiance of the restaurant. They offer savory and sweet empanadas. I would recommend sticking to the savory, more traditional empanadas. The Chilean style and Saltenas empanadas are among the best options on their menus. I wouldn’t recommend getting a sweet, dessert empanada – they taste like the cheap mini store-made pies you find at the grocery store. They also offer combo deals – the Healthy Meal Deal is the best value (empanada, soup, and salad) for $8.55. Their menu prices are very reasonable, especially given the DC area. If you’re nearby and want something hot, savory, delicious, and fast, Julia’s Empanadas is a great option.

Ross No.: Not your standard Columbian/Argentinian empanada. More like an empanada with an Italian twist. I will stop by here on all my DC trips. Delicious! Sweet and savory options available...a great experience.

Francisco Lavorre: For the culturally-ignorant, empanadas are fancy hot pockets--or crunchy dumplings. For those more diverse in taste, Julia's dough and baked-style is reminiscent of Jamaican patties, while the filling choices definitely represent the Central and South American influences. Don't let the--questionable presentation--deter you; behind the faded paint and dim lights is a truly delicious treat. What seems at first to be the grime of neglect is in reality a stubborn grip on tradition and the belief that "if it ain't broke, don't fix it." And in the same way that Christmas or marriage are traditions, what they look like and what they really are can vary drastically. Luckily, in this case the appearance is in your favor: Abuela's food is best, after all. I promise you won't regret trying these empanadas. They're freaking delicious, not overseasoned, and surprisingly not greasy at all.

Matthew Gehrlein: Empanadas were piping hot and very delicious. I had chorizo and Chilean beef which were both good. They are quite big so two is enough for a meal. There are only a few seats inside so expect to pick up your order then eat them elsewhere

G S: Julia’s in Connecticut Ave. is much better than this location. Here they make the empanadas different, the quality is not the same.

Shawn McCarthy: Don't go here unless you like bugs in your food. The place looks suspicious when you walk in and it seems the dirty lobby carries back to a dirty kitchen.

Mary: The empanadas are excellent. They have dessert empanadas as well. Bring cash just in case.

Lin Brann: Ever since I discovered this empanadas shop, I had to get a big order to bring home when I am in DC. They have a large variety to choose from and they all are very delicious. The empanadas are much bigger than elsewhere. I love this place!

El Rinconcito Cafe II: what do users think?

Yalonda: The food was AMAZING full of flavor and well seasoned. There was so much food I couldn't eat it all.

Josh Axelrod: Excellent pupusas in an authentic local eatery — the original El Rinconcito on 11th is slightly better, but that's no knock on this delicious Salvadoran outpost.

Jane Sta: I tried the pupusa and tamal, both were tasty and well prepared. Good costumer service and affordable prices.

Marsha Royal: Great prices and delicious food, pork and cheese pupusa and carne taco 😋

Bentley Caughlan: What a treat! I brought my youth group and we had a great time on the patio. The service was great for a 1 person crew, she was so kind and patient. Great experience, great food :)

Meaghan Gallagher: Went here a couple weeks ago with my friend and their dad. Mezcal margs were great. Chips were good, and I got the fajitas. The time before that I got a burrito. The meals have been a little forgettable, but never disappointing.

Zachary Reshovsky: Decent experience here - I've eaten here 2-3 times. Serves passable food, but the beans, rice, and shrimp is not always quite as good as other equally priced Mexican restaurants in D.C.

Alex Walker: As a Texan newly landed in DC, I was sad to discover that Tex Mex/authentic Mexican food is nowhere in sight. Thankfully, I discovered the glorious food of the Salvadorians and ate here probably every weekend I lived in DC. The pupusas are amazing and the yuka/platanos are delicious as well. It's a wonderful fix if you need that type of food and a nice quiet atmosphere. I would definitely recommend to my fellow Texans longing for a taste of home. Honestly, now that I am back in Texas, I have the opposite problem as I cannot find good pupusas to save my life. Eat here. You won't regret it.

Emily Ru: Tastes like home cooking. So so delicious. The tamales were so smooth and yummy. Pupusas on point... Even the rice felt special. Next time I'll try the soup!

Samuel Edmondson: I got the beef enchiladas which were pretty good, but the service was absolutely horrendous. We were a group of 5 and there were about 3 tables there besides us so it wasn't busy. The waiter was constantly on his phone. We ordered our drinks which took at least 20 minutes to get then got to order food at that time. We got the chips and salsa 30 minutes later and our food about an hour later. My friend got tacos, and they were room temperature at best.

La Famosa: what do users think?

M planetmike: Given the pandemic and restaurants trying to limit exposure to their staff using QR Coded menus, the quality of service has become difficult to judge. We stopped here for the first time for lunch during the week. This was one of the few restaurants open and it was rewarded with a reasonable level of attendance. The sandwiches were scrumptious and creative. We sat on the patio which had heaters. This restaurant is certainly well on its way to becoming The Famous (La Famosa).

Amrith Sagar: Had an incredible meal two weeks ago at this Puerto Rican joint located in the upscale area of Navy Yard in DC. Prices are all relative to location (DC) and I completely understand why each of these dishes were couple of dollars more than what people would expect, but everything was absolutely delicious! I ordered the Pineapple Sazerac, Ensalada de Mariscos, and the Chillo Frito (Whole Fried Red Snapper). When I visited San Juan a couple of years ago, Chillo Frito was easily my favorite dish and i'm glad I was able to get that dish again! The Pineapple Sazerac packed a punch and the drink was infused with pineapple in three different ways, which I loved! There was a Puerto Rican pineapple rum, a pineapple infused sugar rim, and candied pineapple - all which balanced out the smokiness/spiciness of the Rye whiskey perfectly. The ensalada de mariscos was very fresh and bright, and included octopus, shrimp, and scallops. It had cherry tomatoes, green olives, cilantro, small diced onion and sat in some sort of citrus marinade. Put it on top of the crispy, rich deep fried tostones that came with the dish for the perfect bite!. The Red Snapper was the highlight of the meal! If you're not afraid to dive in hands first, and understand and appreciate the size of the dish [easily enough for 2 people....or one Amrith ;) ] then the $38 price tag for it means nothing - trust me, its definitely worth it. The fish came topped with pickled red onions & cilantro and came with a spicy cabbage slaw that was tangy, acidic, and packed good heat. Those things paired perfectly with the deep fried fish and was a truly amazing dish! I have the mofongo in my crosshairs for when I make it back to Navy Yard down the road :)

Odie Smith: Splurged recently on lunch. Ordered take out and I picked up. The app's timing was accurate for pickup! Ordered pastelillos, the tripleta and flan. All were amazing. The pastelillos was juicy and crispy. The tripleta flavorful and flan was delicious. It was pricy for lunch but hey, it's not everyday and I'm happy to support local restaurants and the staff!

Ed: 5 stars! While the QR ordering and paying the right away feels like it’s taking the service touch away, it makes up with a fast and friendly service, food came out surprisingly fast and fresh! Mofongo was authentic Puerto Rican and tostones were perfect. Definitely coming back to this spot. Staff was constantly checking in and greeting you in and out.

Marie Brown: My coworkers and I went here on a lazy Friday afternoon. Location is great and the service was good too. This is the type of restaurant that allows you to order and pay from your phone. The pork belly mofongo was absolutely delicious. I wish the beer wasn't so expensive but that's what you get in Navy Yard. I would definitely recommend and come back again.

Milagros Ortiz: just visited this restaurant and was very please with the food an service. Is authentic puertorirican cuisine but even better IMO and everyone was very nice. 10/10 would recommend. The staff went above and beyond replacing and refunding whatever they didn't have after we order.

K R: I was skeptical at first…. You order through your phone at the table and there’s a self serve water station. It’s a little pricey, i spent $40 for the food and wine in the pic put the staff was extremely friendly, helpful, and the food did not disappoint. I highly suggest the Mariscos! The seafood is fresh and seasoned really well.

Imani: This was so good and I am glad I had the chance to dine at La Famosa. I tried three drinks on the menu, and they were all good. The beef pastelillos were so delicious as well as the canoa De platano. I finished dinner with a guava pastry that satisfied my sweet tooth. I'll definitely visit again to have the same things.

Shanna Bailey: La Famosa was sooo DELICIOUS 😋. We did a random Google search for a good Puerto Rican restaurant since the first Puerto Restaurant we TRIED to eat at refused to seat us. We decided to sit at the bar and the service was very good. All of the food and drink suggestions that the bartender gave us were sooo good. We can't wait to come back again.

Jalan W B: Amazing! We almost walked past but just had the most delicious birthday lunch. The Shrimp Mofongo was seasoned perfectly. It was a healthy portion. The Canoa de Platano was so good! And we finished with the Coquito Bread Pudding delivered at the perfect time by the gracious owner himself; it was divine! So creamy, perfect amount of coquito and the toasted coconut was delish! The service was great (even though you scan the menu and pay online. Due to ‘rona this is super common and we didn’t mind at all) and servers and the owner checked on us several times. The decor was lively and colorful. Super clean and we felt safe and distanced. We WILL be back and are telling our friends now.

Los Hermanos: what do users think?

REL VS: The Dominican/Cuban food in DC. I am Cuban and this is my go-to place for home food. It is not a fancy place and their dishes may seem simple but it is 100% authentic. If you really want to eat like a Dominican/Cuban get a malta.

Neva Faulkner: The Dominican food is excellent; however I've had some challenges with the servers. My coworker who is Dominican turned me on to the spot. I've always frequented the restaurant with him because he can speak Spanish fluently, I don't speak the language. I went into the location twice without him and both times, I felt disregarded as a customer and slightly disrespected! Today, I went in and was completely neglected while the head server packed 4 to go orders in my face, (as if no one was there waiting!). I asked, hey can someone take my order only to be told wait a minute! A minute literally turned into 15 plus minutes before my order was taken. Completely unacceptable and bias towards BLACK women! Food is good, but I will go elsewhere from this day forward!

Larry “Big Schlim” Mcleod: This one block in D.C. already has some great places to eat. Let’s add another spot to that list!! This eatery offers some quality, specialized Caribbean food that haven’t had too much in my life!! People recommend this place…and here I am!! Where I am: @loshermanosdc . Location Reviewed: 1428 Park Rd., N.W. Washington D.C. . Menu Includes; Chicken, Cheese, Beef, & Veggie Emoanadas, Fried Cheese, Tostones (fried green plantains), Bistec Encebollado (steak & onions), Chicharron de Pollo con Tostones (fried chicken with fried plantains), Sancocho (soup), Mofongo, Dominican Cake, fresh juice & smoothies. Reviewed; A Beef Empanada (with a tangy sauce $2).STAMP!! Savory taco meat in a flaky fried pastry!! Their Chicharron de Pollo con Tostones (fried chicken with plantains $12). DELICIOUS!! Crisp, well done, tasty!! The Lo Tre Golpe (potatoes-DELICIOUS, fries salami-DELICIOUS, fried cheese-STAMP, a fried egg-DELICIOUS, topped with marinated red onions $13). What a DIFFERENT, delicious, fulfilling breakfast meal. I also got their Mofongo de Camaron (mashed fried play with shrimp $15). STAMP!! Mashed fried green plantain with shrimp &’sauce on it!! Get this!! The Soursop (a fruit) smoothie…STAMP!! A mild combination of a grape & a sour apple, $4.50. The Raspberry & Merengue sodas were STAMPED!! . Parking: Difficult/Street/Metered . Recommendations: Get the Enpanadas & Mofongo!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️=STAMP ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️=DELICIOUS ⭐️⭐️⭐️=DECENT ⭐️⭐️=PASS ⭐️=NAH #Bigschlimsreviews

Viviana de Jesús: This used to be one of my fav Latino spots in NW but....lately its really "hit or miss" more miss. This morning I ordered a traditional Dominican breakfast: Mangu con queso frito, cebolla roja y chivo. Translation: mashed plantain, fried Caribbean cheese, red onions and goat. The mangu was not all the way mashed, the goat tasted really bland and like it was going bad, the fried cheese was HORRIBLE it tasted STALE AND LEFT A HORROBLE AFTER TASTE. Get. It. Together. Nobody wants to pick up food, pay good $ AND bring it home only to be VERY DISSATISFIED AND DISSAPOINTED. 😡.

Emma Hall: Los Hermanos is my favorite takeout spot in DC! The food is to die for (I typically get yellow rice and pigeon peas, plantains, and roast chicken with extra sauce), the portions are more than generous, and the prices are unbeatable. It’s my favorite meal in the city—every time I eat their food I feel like I’ve ascended to culinary heaven. I cannot speak highly enough about this place!

Vernon Minor: It's my first time here, but I've been to the Dominican Republic several times, and the food here is DEFINITELY authentic. I'll be back soon.

GREGORY RILEY: DO NOT USE Caviar to place your order!!! Was sitting in the restaurant with an online order for over 30 mins. The parent company is Door DASH where my order was placed. So, my order was sitting there in front of them!!! Name recognition didn’t WORK either. Additionally, this is an half hour drive to get to this place and parking is a b#%*h. If you don’t have time to waste, this ain’t your spot.

Karolina Alcalá Maldonado: Excellent service, excellent food....I really recommend this place.

Meaghan Gallagher: Haven't had Dominican food before, so I got the pollo con tostones as per a review here. Fried chicken was good, only wish there was another sauce offered as the red one I got on the side was too hot for me to eat. Fried plantains reminded me latkas, just realized I like the sweet ones better. Also wish there was a sauce. Reggaeton playing inside, low-key, workers seem nice. I might? go back, but only with the thinking that I didn't order the best thing and maybe there's something better for next time.

Taylor Yvonne: My boyfriend and I went here today and I loved the experience. The service was really good, and the food was 🔥🔥🔥. Definitely coming here again.

China Chilcano by José Andrés: what do users think?

Mohit Mehtaji: Great place for some good fusion food. Service is pretty quick and recommend you get a reservation as it does get pretty full during peak dinner hours. You can’t go wrong with the Pisco Sour here. The dim sum were good but nothing special and possible good for trying it one time. The noodles were great and if you get a side of the house made hot sauce it adds a bit more flavor.

Brandon Feldman: This is an incredibly unique spot! The location is great for only being a few blocks from the national mall, the ambiance was relaxing, and the food was amazingly delicious. A Peruvian/Chinese/Japanese restaurant is a unique combination and a brand new experience. The flavors were absolutely fantastic, the presentation was on point, and the service was top-notch. And to top it all off, it is very reasonably priced for such high quality.5 stars all around!

Andy Zavala: I was looking for a nice romantic date night and China Chilcano fit the spot just right. I first called them to check if they had seating/reservations for later the same day and they were super helpful and I booked a time no problem. The restaurant is in the heart of DC so parking may be difficult but the food and service is worth it. The restaurant fuses peruvian dishes with Asian mixes which was so delicious. We tried the classic ceviche and a few other dishes that I unfortunately forgot what are called at this point, but I don’t think you can really go wrong with anything here. They do have a priced option kind of like a “buffet” for around $60 and you get to try as many dishes as you want. So if you really want to explore the dishes here, I’d recommend that! You’ll at least be eating 2-3 dishes. Will definitely come back again.

MrIrali: One of the best restaurants in DC, and that says a lot. We ordered the chef’s selection, and we were not disappointed. Head chef Will Fung even came out and spoke with our table and really left an impression on us. The food is a blend of Peruvian food and Chinese/Japanese. And it is incredible. Go here.

Shachar Ashkenazi: The atmosphere is great, everything we ordered was extremely delicious - both the food and the drinks were great. The stuff were friendly and the decoration of this place is stunning! The flavors combination is unique, it is a must visit restaurant!

Kayla F: Words cannot express how delicious every step of this meal was. We tried a little bit of a few different items and each bite was full of flavor. I highly recommend ordering across the menu and sharing lots of plates.

Anca Balinisteanu: Great location but insane drive if you come from outside DC….interesting menu, but you need a dictionary 🙂 We ordered pork belly sanguche de chsncho and dim sum for starters. Very good! On to the main dishes: rice noodles and pacific wild shrimp. All delicious. And very interesting taste combinations of flavors. We’ll try to make it a regular stop!

Max Rosen: Immaculate menu of diverse food choices that will take your palate around the world from Peru, to China, to Japan. I ordered the chicken stir fry which was delish - great portion, beautiful presentation, even better taste. The shishito peppers are a must for larger parties, well seasoned and crunchy. Ambiance is inviting and the dining room is well decorated and museum-like. Hector, our waiter and bartender, couldn’t have been nicer and accommodated food allergies with care. A must try!

Sabrina R Robinson: Every dish was delicious, wish I’d gotten good pics of everything so I could share how wonderful it was but we ate it so fast! Shishito peppers 🌶 were a good appetizer. Nice snack and super fun bc every few bites you’d get a spicy one. Called the roulette pepper for that reason! The big eye tuna ceviche was delicious. The hamachi ceviche was absolutely our favorite -buttery and citrusy- I could eat it every day. Drinks were classic w a twist. The entree portions were fair ( large in my opinion, in a good way) especially after having all those appetizers. Fun bright flavors in some, and comfort food vibes in others. The restaurant was so beautiful and cozy in the daylight. Staff was super friendly and SO attentive. When it got dark out (with the lack of natural light) the neon ceiling decor made the entire place super yellow and dim- it was definitely an interesting vibe and I wish I could’ve seen the beautiful colors of my food. Can’t wait to go again !

Adriana Rakshana: Excellent quality and unique flavors. Definitely try out the suspiro limeña for dessert and the ceviche pulpo. The vibe of the place is nice too; great for a date! We didn't need a reservation for lunch on a Saturday just fyi!
