Shlomo Slatkin: Keith is a prolific author and therapist who has years of experience under his belt. He truly cares about his clients and believes in what he does. His gentle soothing personality is a plus in helping individuals and couples feel calm, something that is so needed. He has carefully selected like-minded therapists that help support his mission! Always in service of others.
Jordan Schwartz: Extremely disappointing experience. I met with Samuel, one of the clinicians whom Keith felt would be a "great fit" based on our initial conversation. I found him to be very cold and dismissive, and not at all equipped to handle my needs. When I got in touch with Keith a few days later, he did apologize profusely and offered me a refund. I appreciated this gesture, but he also promised to find another therapist for me and then never got back in touch. I recommend finding one of the many other practices in DC. KMA is simply too unprofessional and careless to merit your time and money.

I don't think I know any therapists who haven't had that humbling experience. Amber Bonner: Disappointed that I called attempting to seek out counseling on two different occasions and was told both times that an associate would reach out to schedule my initial appointment. Unfortunately, I never heard back from anyone within the practice - even after a week later, still nothing.

K.: Initial phone call was a little odd with no direction.. however it was followed up by another call by an administrator who was more factual, professional, caring- pointing me in the right direction. Aaron Pearl: I’ve known David Sternberg and a number of the other therapists at DC Talk Therapy as colleagues for several years. They are all incredibly warm, knowledgeable, and empathic. I have and will continue to refer clients to the practice without any reservation.

Toni Salvatore: Worst “therapy” I have ever experienced. I worked with a therapist for about 9 months, meeting weekly. I felt like I got significantly worse while working with her, and therefore found it to be a huge waste of my time, money and energy. My experience involved the following: She persistently did not remember significant information about me. It often felt as though she was just waiting for the session to end and that she did not really care. It was difficult to talk to her about what I really needed to talk about, and it came off as her just not being interested in the subject. It felt like we were often just chatting instead of doing therapy. When I addressed this concern with her she said it was an important part of “rapport building” and told me I had an issue with small talk (which I don’t. I just don’t want to pay nearly $200/week to chat with somebody). Additionally, whenever I gave her real feedback or attempted to address my concerns with her, the response was that something was wrong with me and my perception. No lasting or meaningful change would ever occur. There were times when she would imply or explicitly ask something of me, to meet her needs, such as get her information that she needed for herself, unrelated to therapy, or have me meet her own emotional needs. On a positive note, the administrative staff were great. They were responsive, helpful, professional and quite pleasant to work with. Further, I brought my concerns to David, the owner and director and his response was genuine to address the issue. Albeit, to my knowledge this therapist still works there. Just be aware that unfortunately everyone with a counseling degree does not have the desire or ability to be an effective counselor. But you do not need to suffer because of that…

Katherine O'Rourke: As a divorce attorney in the District of Columbia and Maryland, I have sent numerous clients to DC Talk Therapy to work through the conflict and struggle that comes from a contested divorce. After working with the therapists from DC Talk Therapy, my clients report feeling supported and grounded such that they are more easily capable of engaging in the difficult conversations surrounding pursuing a divorce.

As a psychiatrist in the area I regularly refer patients for talk therapy to this group and receive consistently positive feedback about their care. Several patients have made significant positive changes in their lives while in treatment at DC Talk therapy. I have found them to be particularly good in helping patients with mood and anxiety problems.
