Cara W: Rooftop Chimney Sweeps gets ALL the Stars!! We bought a house in September 2021 and waived the home inspection (I know, I know!!). Upon moving in we realized the chimney was bad off. We obtained quotes from 4 other area chimney sweeps and every single one of them insisted that the chimney would have to be relined at a cost of about $5,000+ and that no way, no how could it just be cleaned and be safe to use. Well, SO GLAD I called Rooftop and had them come out. Their technician and project manager offered to do a thorough sweep and if there was extensive damage and a reline was necessary, they would credit the cost of the sweep to the reline. Well, they just came and swept the chimney and said the chimney is FINE! No need for a reline!!! They literally saved us thousands of dollars! They are polite, professional, and best of all HONEST! Honest too — they told us our chimney did not need cleaning yet. They alerted us to a minor safety issue, and fixed it. I now feel confident that my fireplace is in good condition and safe. We needed to get our boiler and hot water heater flue re-lined and extend our chimney a few feet higher to bring it up to code — Juan and Edwin got the job done quickly, safely, and with the highest quality. We especially appreciated how communicative Juan was; he explained every aspect of the project before doing the work, flagged potential challenges ahead of time, and checked in with us regularly to make sure we were happy with how things were progressing. Beyond their professionalism and skill, Juan and Edwin were also friendly and respectful of the house — wearing masks while working inside, carefully touching up paint where the scaffolding had been on the outer wall, and doing a spotless clean-up job after the work was done. Jacob Hyman: Overall I’m happy with the experience I’ve had with Bethesda Chimney and would use them for future projects. Brian and Nicole did a good job working with us and answering a lot of questions to determine what work we wanted to get done. While they did offer some options we didn’t wind up going with, I never felt pressured to do work we didn’t want. They have also made it easy to coordinate with the plumber and electrician needed to do work. For the work we’ve had done by Bethesda Chimeny so far, Rogel and his team (William and Uriel I believe) have been great and highly professional. They spent time explaining exactly what they were going to do, answering any questions I had, and keeping me informed as anything came up. They’re not the cheapest option, but I feel they are fairly priced for the level of service and work provided. Solenne Abaziou: We used Bethesda Chimney for major work on our chimney and fireplace, including replacement of our flue, masonry, and installation of a vented gas log set. The service was impeccable from start to finish. Rogel and his team were professional, and left the place as clean as when they arrived, despite having to make holes in our wall to access debris they needed to clear out. When rain was forecasted, they stopped by 3 hours before they were due on the job site to make sure our things were covered in plastic and protected from the rain. After the work was done, we noticed hairline cracks in the bricks of our fireplace due to the vibration created by the work. Zach came out that day to examine the damage, and they sent a mason over the following day to make the repairs. Anytime we called with questions, Nicole, Ross or Ryan got back to us promptly, and patiently answered all of our questions. Overall, the company was very flexible with timing, and accommodated schedule changes as needed due to plumbing issues that arose to get our gas going. Trey Hodgkins: Both Justin and Eli were very professional and cleaned the chimney quickly. We needed extra work on a chimney and they took photos and explained the work well. Cleanup was great. We’ve worked with this company now over 10 years. They digitized and many of our older work records are not available to the technicians. My only recommendation is that the company should make sure their techs know what has already been done and who did it to facilitate a smooth visit. Justin had to call to learn that his company had done all the work on our chimneys and to understand what that included. The company should make sure the tech are properly informed for their work.

Chris Counts: They did an excellent job on relining our chimney and fixing bricks on the outside. Estimate was more than others but definitely worth in quality and customer service. The job ended up taking 2 extra days b/c of more problems with exterior than were discovered at the estimate. They didnt charge anymore and took their time doing it right. I feel confident that any other company wouldve ignored the problems and done a rush job rather than taking 2 extra days of work. Cannot recommend them enough.
rafael marshall: I called Rooftop Chimney to inspect and repair my chimney so I could close on my house. Setting up the appointment was very easy, and the two individuals who came out for the inspection were very nice and responsive to my questions and concerns. However, when I was finally reading to schedule repair, it took a few calls before I was able to reach anyone and set it up. Again, once I got in touch with someone, it was a very pleasant experience. A representative even called me a day later to tell me of a cancelation so that I could move up my repair appointment. After the repair, Rooftop sent me before and after photos of the work, which I appreciated very much. However, the workmen failed to clean up debris after the job so I had to do that when I got home. Overall, I thought Rooftop did a good job and I would use them again, but they may need to hire more phone operators, or check their voicemails more often. Additionally, they need to do a better job cleaning up after a job is done.
J Jonny: The personnel are very professional, thorough, courteous, and friendly. Very high tech, they take very professional digital pictures, these were shown to me during the visit and very well explained on what we were looking at; they also follow-up with an email containing the digital pictures. They vacuumed the fireplace, and cleaned inside the fireplace. I am not sure how much cleaning up inside the fireplace was necessary, but it seemed quite clean when they took pictures after. There were personnel on the visit. They also got a ladder and inspected on roof. They have 2 rates, one for just inspection, the other for cleaning. I guess if I had one bit of feedback, it would be that the cleaning rate seemed a little high (although I knew what I would be charged ahead of time, so I was onboard with the charge). I would recommend.

Kirsten Olechnowicz: The service men (Kyle & Darren) showed up on time and answered all the questions asked. As the work progressed, they kept us informed. When the chimney liner installation was delayed due to 90 degree angle change in the chimney flue, they alerted us of the additional time needed for installation. They were able to complete the job in the same day without needing to breach the exterior wall - Yeh! Throughout the entire process the guys were informative and courteous. It was a pleasure to have Rooftop Chimney services.

I was having to manage a relative emergency (cracked sealant due to age that was causing water damage inside the house) situation remotely and the team was incredibly responsive, telling me exactly what was going on, and sought to make the necessary repairs as soon as possible (and before more storms swept through). Anthony S: Update May 17 2019: Changing from 3 to 5 stars for great customer service! I got a call from Rooftop Chimney on May 15 for a follow up inspection with Perry today. Perry did a great job explaining what they will do, what they eventually found, additional fixes they did, and next steps if my fireplace continues to leak. May 14 2019: 3 STARS FOR NOW as my fireplace leak issue is not resolved. I’ve sent an email to Josh Perez about this and I’ll update this review after I hear back from him. I do hope this company has great customer service. Just based on the work done on May 6, 2019, Josh paid attention and detail to my leak issue and concerns. Friendly and I got the feeling that he really wants to help resolve my problem. I also appreciate the before and after pictures. For this I give him 5 stars. Now, we’ll see if I get a response on my email.

We called American Professional Chimney and Masonry and they were wonderful from step 1 through the end of the process. Brian Sanders provided a thorough inspection and estimated the work. We moved forward and got our chimney repaired. Justin Myers performed the work and was exceptional. There were many hidden problems while repairing, but they finished the job and honored the original estimate. This is unheard of in these current times so it was great to work with such professional, honest people. Richard Brundage: I replaced my water heater and that meant I had to get a liner installed in the furnace flue. I decided to get the adjacent fireplace chimney lined at the same time. It took three days to install a new exhaust duct for the furnace and hot water heater, removed the terracotta liner on the fireplace, and install the stainless steel liners and insulate the fireplace flue. They did a good job keeping the dust under control and cleaning up and the installation looks good. I did have to call them back to fix the damper cable because the rebuilding of the chimney top moved the damper up about 4 inches and the cable no longer reached the bracket that holds the damper closed. I called them and they understood the issue immediately and sent two workers out the next day to fix it. They cut off the old cable and tied a new one on so it was long enough to use the bracket, but they did not adjust it properly so the damper was not fully closed when the cable was hooked to the bracket, and they left some of the frayed cable sticking out of the slug that connects the cable to the chain and handle. It was easy to use an allen wrench to adjust the location of the slug so the damper is fully closed and I used a propane torch to cut off the frayed cable end. This extra work is why I gave them 4 stars. I would use them again. Service: Chimney repair & restoration

Emily Florio: American Professional Chimney recently replaced the flue in my 4th floor condo. While we all thought it would be a straight forward replacement, it turned into a much more complicated project due to the poor engineering of the condo building. Manuel and his men effectively and efficiently worked through the structural issues and ultimately were able to perform the full flue replacement. They worked diligently while also keeping me informed of the process, along with anything they needed on my end. Stephan, the operations manager also kept me informed of the overall process and timeline, especially when it went beyond the original scope of the job. Denise Lecour: I had to get my vent flut connector up to code prior to getting our water heater installed. I called on Friday evening and spoke with Christine and the next day we had the work completed. Christine was professional, honest and down to earth. She answered questions from me and my husband and was patient. She kept me assured and confident. She had a master Mason on deck. Due to covid the two gentlemen wore their mask and were very professional and pleasant. They also cleaned their work up if it was messy. I would recommend them. Debra Liang: I recently purchased my condo and needed dryer vent cleaning. I have a full-sized and stacked washer/dryer unit in a closet, and the washer/dryer must be pulled out before the vent could be cleaned. Calling around, most places required that I first move the washer/dryer out of the closet myself before they would be able to clean the vent. Then I found John with Pro Chimney who said he would be able to move the washer/dryer in addition to cleaning the vent, and told me what the price would be upfront. The price was not that much higher from the quotes I received when I was previously calling around. On the scheduled day, John showed up on time for the cleaning. When John started to look at the unit, he discovered that the previous owner had used a venting tube that was not best suited for the place. So John voluntarily replaced it with a more flexible dryer duct and he even took a quick Home Depot run to buy pieces that he needed. He did all this extra work without accepting additional pay. Moreover, he helped clean up the surrounding area to make sure there were no debris left over from the dryer duct replacement. Austin came out on time to do an estimate of mortar crown replacement. He wore mask and shoe cover the whole time, was courteous and patient to answering my many questions. Austin explained to me that some rocks, amber and sand may be vacuumed away because the many dead bugs inside to set expectation, but he tried his best to keep as much as possible while at the same time removed all the bugs. Linda Griffith: Mr Mack came to our house and did a complete inspection of both our chimneys that included taking pictures removing a steel plate which previous owner closed up both brick chimneys (SMH), after explaining to us everything that was going on and what we will need to put both back in service, the question was ask when can work be done and how long will it take upon giving us the answer (tomorrow and 3-4 hours) we said yes before Mr Mack left his son was on the phone with their supplier ordering our materials. Jessica Deleo: Rooftop Chimney Sweeps is professional and virtuous, two things that are not always common in the home service industry. They are quick to respond to inquiries, take great care while in your home (wear booties, cover floor, etc.), are promotion appointment time, and clear with their recommendations. One of the parts I liked best was I received a text message letting me know what technician was on the way to my home with a photo of him and a little bio. Since I was home alone I appreciated having that extra info and knowing exactly who I was letting into my house. Jason and Jake were friendly and polite. They took the time to explain what they were doing step by step. They performed inside fireplace and chimney inspection and then the exterior. They also cleaned/swept our chimney. At the end Jason reviewed our options both internally and externally. We paid for the service and then he left us with the info and estimates to consider. No pressure, which was lovely. I would (and do) recommend them to anyone who needs and inspection, service, or simple sweep.

It was double-sided and they creatively closed off the back side with special glass. I had it previously relined and the prior company relined it improperly and American Chimney saved me by removing the terracotta old lining (which should have been done previously and fixing both sides of the chimney. Very professional, did the work quickly and perfectly. I will not use any toher chimney company. Really amazing people

Ann Alger: They did a great job understanding the scope of work that needed to be accomplished and gave me a fair estimate. The crew that did the work were very organized and did a great job. They replaced crumbling cinder locks and bricks in an outside, below-ground stairwell. They repointed between the cinder blocks after power washing and scraping, then gave the walls, floor and stairs two coats of paint. It looks fantastic and is now structurally sound.
