Lynn Eskite-Tant: Rooftop provided a chimney & fireplace inspection prior to their installing a gas insert. They also ran a gas line to the fireplace. As it turned out, the flashing around the chimney was in very poor condition & posed the potential threat for a roof leak. Jay completed all the repairs for the flashing, including replacing some of the shingles as part of the process. Jay was here for two days making the necessary corrections & did a fantastic job!!! Everyone at Rooftop is highly professional. I was kept informed about the installation details & schedule by Melissa in Rooftop's office; service providers arrived on time; and I received a text in advance telling me when to expect them, as well as a photo of the technician. We have an arched fireplace & when Jay finished, the metal was cut to suit the opening just perfectly! Finally, the insert is beautiful! I would recommend Rooftop very highly!!! Cara W: Rooftop Chimney Sweeps gets ALL the Stars!! We bought a house in September 2021 and waived the home inspection (I know, I know!!). Upon moving in we realized the chimney was bad off. We obtained quotes from 4 other area chimney sweeps and every single one of them insisted that the chimney would have to be relined at a cost of about $5,000+ and that no way, no how could it just be cleaned and be safe to use. Well, SO GLAD I called Rooftop and had them come out. Their technician and project manager offered to do a thorough sweep and if there was extensive damage and a reline was necessary, they would credit the cost of the sweep to the reline. Well, they just came and swept the chimney and said the chimney is FINE! No need for a reline!!! They literally saved us thousands of dollars! They are polite, professional, and best of all HONEST! richard kurtz: Not responsive to customer need. Used scare tactics to "up-sell" a simple repair job. The roof top gas heater flue system had a rusted out cover plate with a hole which allowed rain water to enter the flue pipe, and drip around its outside. I asked for a replacement rain cover. The technician took multiple photos of the entire heating system, basement to roof. He did not show any of these to me, but sent same to his "Project Manager (PM)" Based on this conversation, the PM determined I needed a complete safety inspection, replacement of the entire flue, from roof to basement level, and it would be unsafe for them to even place a temporary rain cap on the flue until they had investigated the right type rain cap to order/use, and insure system safety. The technician left without doing anything to solve the problem. We have carbon monoxide alarms in the utility room and the room adjacent, and they both read zero. Nonetheless, I had our HVAC company come out and safety check the flue system. They found no safety issues! What appeared to be rust around some of the fittings was in fact rust colored water stains, probably from the rusting flue rain cap. The stains came off with brushing/steel wool, and the metal fittings were totally intact. Then I called a roofer, who fabricated a metal rain cap and installed same. Said it took him 15 minutes to make the rain cap. Service: Rain cap installation
Response: Thank you Richard for the thoughtful review. Having reviewed Mr. Kurtz experience we stand by our initial recommendation that his chimney be completely replaced. While it was currently venting without issue, the system was completely rusted out inside and had multiple places where connections between the vent pipe were severely damaged and beginning to fail. No qualified chimney professional would have OK'd this system. To wait to replace the system until after it has failed is like waiting to put your seatbelt on until after you've been in a car accident. Upon explaining this and showing photo evidence to Mr Kurtz, he asked us not to call him back unless we were willing to do the job the way he wanted it done. We respected his wishes and did not contact him further. We understand that Mr Kurtz had a particular vision and budget for how he wanted to maintain his home. We respect his decision to choose a different solution than we recommended. (Though we strongly recommend that Mr Kurtz pair his chosen solution with ensuring that there are working carbon monoxide detectors in every bedroom and test them regularly in accordance with code.) Rooftop Chimney Sweeps guarantees every job that we do and we only use products with the best reputation and warranties on the market. While it is possible to cobble together a cheap solution out of sheet metal in 15 minutes, we have spent 45 years fixing this kind of solution after our clients have learned the hard way that cheaper today does not always mean better value in the long run. Because we always stand by our work, we will never repair or install something in a way that does not address the core problem and or leaves our clients at risk. We regret that we failed to effectively communicate the value of our process to Mr Kurtz, but we are happy to hear that he was able to find a contractor who was more aligned with his vision and values and we wish him the best with his home going forward.

We needed to get our boiler and hot water heater flue re-lined and extend our chimney a few feet higher to bring it up to code — Juan and Edwin got the job done quickly, safely, and with the highest quality. Jacob Hyman: Overall I’m happy with the experience I’ve had with Bethesda Chimney and would use them for future projects. Brian and Nicole did a good job working with us and answering a lot of questions to determine what work we wanted to get done. While they did offer some options we didn’t wind up going with, I never felt pressured to do work we didn’t want. They have also made it easy to coordinate with the plumber and electrician needed to do work. For the work we’ve had done by Bethesda Chimeny so far, Rogel and his team (William and Uriel I believe) have been great and highly professional. They spent time explaining exactly what they were going to do, answering any questions I had, and keeping me informed as anything came up. Solenne Abaziou: We used Bethesda Chimney for major work on our chimney and fireplace, including replacement of our flue, masonry, and installation of a vented gas log set. The service was impeccable from start to finish. Rogel and his team were professional, and left the place as clean as when they arrived, despite having to make holes in our wall to access debris they needed to clear out. When rain was forecasted, they stopped by 3 hours before they were due on the job site to make sure our things were covered in plastic and protected from the rain. After the work was done, we noticed hairline cracks in the bricks of our fireplace due to the vibration created by the work. Zach came out that day to examine the damage, and they sent a mason over the following day to make the repairs. Anytime we called with questions, Nicole, Ross or Ryan got back to us promptly, and patiently answered all of our questions. Overall, the company was very flexible with timing, and accommodated schedule changes as needed due to plumbing issues that arose to get our gas going. Nathalie Lenoble: I am switching to Bethesda Chimney's services without hesitation to care for my fireplace. I will also try them for other services such as power washing and dryer vent cleaning. This time, which is the first time I use them, they replaced my old fireplace by a new one. They also did a very thorough inspection of the chase which made me realize that it was about time to replace the whole system (not only the fireplace). They also installed a brand new B-vent. I was impressed by their service and professionalism. They are very knowledgeable and they are quick. I think that what impressed me the most was to get a very detailed estimate only three hours after their first visit. I have also compared their prices with a couple of other companies I used in the past, and for the quality of their service, their price was reasonable to me (and I am a demanding customer!) Trey Hodgkins: Both Justin and Eli were very professional and cleaned the chimney quickly. We needed extra work on a chimney and they took photos and explained the work well. Cleanup was great. We’ve worked with this company now over 10 years. They digitized and many of our older work records are not available to the technicians. My only recommendation is that the company should make sure their techs know what has already been done and who did it to facilitate a smooth visit. Justin had to call to learn that his company had done all the work on our chimneys and to understand what that included. The company should make sure the tech are properly informed for their work.

Kim Adams Lowe: When we removed the fireplace doors (from the previous owner), we realized the hearth and chimney required repair (for 40 year old house) . We had three companies give us a quote - High's was the middle quote. I felt they professionally explained the problem. Once they began repairs, the technicians realized the damage was not as extensive (or expensive). I applaud High's for being honest that they did not have to perform the tasks that I had approved. Louis Ferro: Had an excellent experience with Rooftop Chimney Sweeps. Grant and his partner came out and did an exceptionally thorough job in providing an estimate; they gave me quotes for all the different options I had for the service I needed done. Grant was great about being clear with the work to be done, and following up. We ended up getting our chimney rebuilt from the roofline up, as well as relining one of the flues. The team they sent out did an excellent job, all in the hottest week of the summer. They communicated throughout the week on their progress, kept the work area clean, and were very courteous and conscientious when they needed to come into the house to do the inside portion of the relining. If we ever need to get the other side of the chimney relined we definitely won't hesitate to give them a call.

Chris Counts: They did an excellent job on relining our chimney and fixing bricks on the outside. Estimate was more than others but definitely worth in quality and customer service. The job ended up taking 2 extra days b/c of more problems with exterior than were discovered at the estimate. They didnt charge anymore and took their time doing it right. I feel confident that any other company wouldve ignored the problems and done a rush job rather than taking 2 extra days of work. Cannot recommend them enough.
rafael marshall: I called Rooftop Chimney to inspect and repair my chimney so I could close on my house. Setting up the appointment was very easy, and the two individuals who came out for the inspection were very nice and responsive to my questions and concerns. However, when I was finally reading to schedule repair, it took a few calls before I was able to reach anyone and set it up. Again, once I got in touch with someone, it was a very pleasant experience. A representative even called me a day later to tell me of a cancelation so that I could move up my repair appointment. After the repair, Rooftop sent me before and after photos of the work, which I appreciated very much. However, the workmen failed to clean up debris after the job so I had to do that when I got home. Overall, I thought Rooftop did a good job and I would use them again, but they may need to hire more phone operators, or check their voicemails more often. Additionally, they need to do a better job cleaning up after a job is done.
J Jonny: The personnel are very professional, thorough, courteous, and friendly. Very high tech, they take very professional digital pictures, these were shown to me during the visit and very well explained on what we were looking at; they also follow-up with an email containing the digital pictures. They vacuumed the fireplace, and cleaned inside the fireplace. I am not sure how much cleaning up inside the fireplace was necessary, but it seemed quite clean when they took pictures after. There were personnel on the visit. They also got a ladder and inspected on roof. They have 2 rates, one for just inspection, the other for cleaning. I guess if I had one bit of feedback, it would be that the cleaning rate seemed a little high (although I knew what I would be charged ahead of time, so I was onboard with the charge). I would recommend.

Kirsten Olechnowicz: The service men (Kyle & Darren) showed up on time and answered all the questions asked. As the work progressed, they kept us informed. When the chimney liner installation was delayed due to 90 degree angle change in the chimney flue, they alerted us of the additional time needed for installation. They were able to complete the job in the same day without needing to breach the exterior wall - Yeh! Throughout the entire process the guys were informative and courteous. It was a pleasure to have Rooftop Chimney services.
Ryan Triplette: I cannot tell you how lovely they were to work with. I was having to manage a relative emergency (cracked sealant due to age that was causing water damage inside the house) situation remotely and the team was incredibly responsive, telling me exactly what was going on, and sought to make the necessary repairs as soon as possible (and before more storms swept through). I would highly recommend them!
Anthony S: Update May 17 2019: Changing from 3 to 5 stars for great customer service! I got a call from Rooftop Chimney on May 15 for a follow up inspection with Perry today. Perry did a great job explaining what they will do, what they eventually found, additional fixes they did, and next steps if my fireplace continues to leak. May 14 2019: 3 STARS FOR NOW as my fireplace leak issue is not resolved. I’ve sent an email to Josh Perez about this and I’ll update this review after I hear back from him. I do hope this company has great customer service. Just based on the work done on May 6, 2019, Josh paid attention and detail to my leak issue and concerns. Friendly and I got the feeling that he really wants to help resolve my problem. I also appreciate the before and after pictures. For this I give him 5 stars. Now, we’ll see if I get a response on my email.
Jeffrey Kurland: Our furnace chimney cap / rain shield blew off in a storm, and we needed to get a new one installed before the next downpour. Adrienne Packard: I called to have an inspection set up. It took 2 months to get an appointment and when the day finally comes, despite several text messages confirming the appointment, no one shows. I call the office and they say there was some “mishap” on their end and no one was schedule to arrive. The next date they offer, after they failed to follow their own scheduling, is 8 days later! I’d already waited 60 days, you mess up and don’t show and then the best you can do is ask me to take another day off work a whole week away?! They offered a $50 dollar credit but that wasn’t even an 8th if they total cost for the inspection! Totally did not instill any confidence in their actual service if they ever showed up. I just cancelled and looked for service elsewhere. Maybe they do good work but if you schedule with them, good luck trying to get someone to look at your actual chimney.

Jeff Brewer: DO NOT WASTE TIME WITH ONLINE SCHEDULING. The online scheduling tool is not accurate; it only generates a cue for them to call you. Regardless of the time/date you requested online, the times available to you will be much different. For example, I requested 9 September in the online tool and the first they have available is 30 September. I had used these people for several years now. The service was good when I was able to get them out in the past. They were more expensive than some of their competitors, but I thought the good service was worth it. We do our best never to post dates as available when we have no open slots, but due to availability being not just about dates, but location, we simply can't teach the computer how to know when we will be in your area. Put simply, there might have been an appointment for a truck working in In Fairfax City or Springfield, but not in Capitol Hill. Unfortunately, the scheduling program has no way to screen you and present availability based on your location. We are deeply sorry for the confusion and frustration it has caused. Richard Brundage: I replaced my water heater and that meant I had to get a liner installed in the furnace flue. I decided to get the adjacent fireplace chimney lined at the same time. It took three days to install a new exhaust duct for the furnace and hot water heater, removed the terracotta liner on the fireplace, and install the stainless steel liners and insulate the fireplace flue. They did a good job keeping the dust under control and cleaning up and the installation looks good. I did have to call them back to fix the damper cable because the rebuilding of the chimney top moved the damper up about 4 inches and the cable no longer reached the bracket that holds the damper closed. I called them and they understood the issue immediately and sent two workers out the next day to fix it. They cut off the old cable and tied a new one on so it was long enough to use the bracket, but they did not adjust it properly so the damper was not fully closed when the cable was hooked to the bracket, and they left some of the frayed cable sticking out of the slug that connects the cable to the chain and handle. It was easy to use an allen wrench to adjust the location of the slug so the damper is fully closed and I used a propane torch to cut off the frayed cable end. This extra work is why I gave them 4 stars. I would use them again. Service: Chimney repair & restoration

While we all thought it would be a straight forward replacement, it turned into a much more complicated project due to the poor engineering of the condo building. Manuel and his men effectively and efficiently worked through the structural issues and ultimately were able to perform the full flue replacement. He was on time and very thorough. He provided an honest assessment of what needed to be repaired and provided an estimate during our appointment. Jennifer Stutman: I can't rate Priddy Chimney Sweeps more highly than 5 stars, but I wish I could. I called them after a bad experience with another company and they were able to come in right away to assess damage, provide a quote and book the work in a few short weeks (would have been faster without Omicrom but this is 2022). Christina managed the entire rebuild of my home's original fireplace, and Joshua swooped in and was able to make our dream fireplace a reality. Check out the photos yourself! Joshua did everything and checked with us on every detail from the way we wanted the hearth stone to lay to the exact cut of the tiles. He even built the custom mantle on-site! And Christina checked in with us frequently, including coming by to check on progress and calling when there were questions we wanted to discuss. It was obvious that her and her crew were in constant communication on our project and it helped make the entire process smooth and fast.
Denise Lecour: I had to get my vent flut connector up to code prior to getting our water heater installed. I called on Friday evening and spoke with Christine and the next day we had the work completed. Christine was professional, honest and down to earth. She answered questions from me and my husband and was patient. She kept me assured and confident. She had a master Mason on deck. Due to covid the two gentlemen wore their mask and were very professional and pleasant. They also cleaned their work up if it was messy. I would recommend them. Called Priddy Chimney to clean and inspect it and they found multiple things the other company missed including one that was a major safety issue (every fire would smoke our entire basement). Spoke to Christina and made a plan to address everything, they came in and didn't leave the job until it was 100% perfect. Now we can enjoy our fireplace again without worries thanks to Priddy Chimney Sweeps, I will use this company for every fireplace going forward! I can't recommend them enough; the work was done in a timely manner, jobsite kept clean, communication was amazing between Christina and I and every worker was polite and thorough. Do yourself a favor and hire them first, you won't regret it.
Shan C: This review involves two vendors Mayes Plumbing and Priddy. Mayes plumbing was assigned to replace the hot water heater at my rental property. When the plumber came out they informed me that I would need to have a chimney company come out to confirm that the chimney was up to code. I had never experienced something like this before, but they alleged that there were some new building code requirements and before replacing the heater they would have to get a confirmation that everything was good with the chimney. Conveniently they suggested that I contact Priddy Chimney Sweeps and provide a discount code for them to take a look at the chimney. I thought this whole thing was strange since I’ve had water heaters replaced at other properties without the involvement of chimney companies, but I didn’t have time to confirm whether their allegation that this was a new code requirement was true. I contact Priddy and they inform me that I should send them pictures so they can diagnose whether the chimney is up to code. This seemed unusual since most chimney companies I have worked with in the past physically come to the property. They don’t attempt to diagnose a problem via photos. However, I had the tenant take a ton of pictures that I forwarded via text to Priddy over the course of two days. Once they received the desired photo angle I was informed that all of this work would need to be done to the tune of $2200 (with the discount code) before Mayes could install the heater. Keep in mind the tenant has been without hot water for at least a week. At this point I did what I should have done in the first place and called a chimney company I have used in the past. They went to the property (they didn’t diagnose via photos) and for $195 confirmed that the chimney was up to code and properly lined. Subsequently I called my home warranty company to report this and ask that another plumber be assigned. The hot water heater was replaced the next day by another company without incident. Imagine if I had gone with Priddy’s faulty diagnosis, I would be out $2200!!!! I would proceed with extreme caution when dealing with Priddy and Mayes. Something is not right here.

Our records indicate that you contacted us after being referred by Mayes because your water heater vented through a masonry chimney. As of 2015, many gas companies and local jurisdictions have incorporated a chimney inspection or liner installation into the permit inspection of the appliance installation, to ensure that chimney can adequately and safely vent the new appliance. We offered to come out to perform an inspection first or you could send a photo (since at this point your tenant had been without hot water) of how the appliances connect into the chimney for us to provide guidance around what the chimney may need. Again, I apologize for any misunderstanding here, and I would be happy to further discuss this you via phone.

Kelly Byrd: In March 2017 we had Priddy Clean come out to inspect our old fireplace. We were on the verge of inadvertently burning our house down, our pre-fab fireplace was really that bad. Christina was wonderful, she walked us through every step from start to finish.. She had wonderful suggestions for the rock and mantle and even recommended where to get the materials. The installers got everything done without a hitch and it went from drab to breathtaking in only a couple of days. The attention to detail is impeccable. Debra Liang: I recently purchased my condo and needed dryer vent cleaning. I have a full-sized and stacked washer/dryer unit in a closet, and the washer/dryer must be pulled out before the vent could be cleaned. Calling around, most places required that I first move the washer/dryer out of the closet myself before they would be able to clean the vent. Then I found John with Pro Chimney who said he would be able to move the washer/dryer in addition to cleaning the vent, and told me what the price would be upfront. The price was not that much higher from the quotes I received when I was previously calling around. On the scheduled day, John showed up on time for the cleaning. When John started to look at the unit, he discovered that the previous owner had used a venting tube that was not best suited for the place. So John voluntarily replaced it with a more flexible dryer duct and he even took a quick Home Depot run to buy pieces that he needed. He did all this extra work without accepting additional pay. Moreover, he helped clean up the surrounding area to make sure there were no debris left over from the dryer duct replacement. Overall, John was incredibly helpful, friendly, and professional, and I will certainly request his services again in the future. Service: HVAC duct & vent cleaning

Peter Wu: Great service. I called the office on Sunday and surprisingly a lady picked up and was prompt to schedule me for the next day. Austin came out on time to do an estimate of mortar crown replacement. He wore mask and shoe cover the whole time, was courteous and patient to answering my many questions. I ended up doing two chimney fireplaces cleaning in addition to the estimate. Austin explained to me that some rocks, amber and sand may be vacuumed away because the many dead bugs inside to set expectation, but he tried his best to keep as much as possible while at the same time removed all the bugs. Diana Nam: After noticing the wet spot on our ceiling grow bigger and bigger, AND repairing the roof thinking we had a leak there, we decided to look for a chimney service, knowing that had to be the culprit. Looking for a reliable and trustworthy service on Google is daunting to say the least; you read through all the reviews and sometimes, you don't even trust the ones you read. I stumbled across Suburban Chimney about 6 reviews deep into my search, and was impressed with the personalized reviews and heartfelt recommendations left by customers, so decided to give them a ring. John picked up immediately and I told him the scene that was slowly unfolding in our house, and without hesitation, he said, "I can be there today, is that OK?" To say the least, I was floored. I am used to companies giving me a timeline of up to a week to stop by, and here was John saying he'd be here by the time we were on the afternoon news. He came by solo, climbed up the roof, took pictures, and came down and calmly explained to us what we kind of already knew. That our chimney was in BADDDDDDDDD SHAPE. To give you a back story, we have lived here for 10 years and before that, the previous occupants had lived here since the house was built in the 60's, and had not done a thing to the chimney. John told us exactly what needed to be done, and gave us a very VERY reasonable estimate, and said he would send an invoice by the next day. Obviously, we gave them the OK to start, and within a week, John and his team were on our roof. Within 2 days, they had finished (working about 4-5 hours at a time)! The inside of our boiler vent had crumbled and carbon monoxide was leaking back in to the house I share with my husband and three kids. Linda Griffith: Mr Mack came to our house and did a complete inspection of both our chimneys that included taking pictures removing a steel plate which previous owner closed up both brick chimneys (SMH), after explaining to us everything that was going on and what we will need to put both back in service, the question was ask when can work be done and how long will it take upon giving us the answer (tomorrow and 3-4 hours) we said yes before Mr Mack left his son was on the phone with their supplier ordering our materials. As promised they came back the next day being new to fire placing Mr Mack explained everything and showed us how to operate our fireplace also sent me to the store to get wood and 3 hour fire starter and now we are enjoying see pictures!!! Sakara Baker: As a new home owner I needed my chimney inspected and cleaned. They charged me 475 dollars for what I now know was not a thorough inspection. They swept the chimney but did not look at or clean out the fireplace at any point and they put on a chimney cap that does not fit well onto the chimney. In addition to this this they told me they would send me a thorough report with pictures after the inspection which they failed to do. I wanted to support a family owned black business but sadly I would 100% never work with them again. I ended up having to find a proper chimney inspector on thumbtack that is reasonably priced and professional to do what Mack’s chimney service failed to. Complete waste of time and money.

The father came with the son who had hip surgery and needed a high chair to sit in and and a neighbor who actual did the sweep and sealed up cracks in the fireplace. Retired Genius: I debated even writing this review because I don't like the possibility of ever hurting a business's potential but honestly the service provided is subpar. I requested a fireplace inspection and was quoted a price over the phone. On the day of my appointment, four guys arrived. Why four guys need to conduct an inspection is beyond me. I ask that only two come inside because of the pandemic. The inspection consisted of them trying to get the fireplace to start. I was never given the results of the inspection. They then proceeded to clean the fireplace which consisted of them wiping the glass, leaving smear marks. Nothing more. At the end they told me the price was now 4 times what was quoted on the phone because of the cleaning. They never checked the outside vent, the chimney, or any other component of the fireplace. A proper inspection was never completed. A proper cleaning was never completed. They claimed to have completed additional services without my agreement and changed the price after services rendered. We argued and eventually came to a compromise. I even paid them extra because sheisty businesses tend to really need the money and will always need the money because they aren't doing good business. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone. I do hope they get their act together though.

Gigi Webb: Rooftop Chimney Sweeps did a thorough and excellent job and the two technicians were both very polite and professional. They were also very clean and covered the furniture when cleaning the chimney. They followed the cleaning and inspection with an email report complete with photographs, notes and any recommendations. I never felt like I was pressured to purchase anything and they definitely didn't use any scare tactics like the last company I used. Great job! Jessica Deleo: Rooftop Chimney Sweeps is professional and virtuous, two things that are not always common in the home service industry. They are quick to respond to inquiries, take great care while in your home (wear booties, cover floor, etc.), are promotion appointment time, and clear with their recommendations. One of the parts I liked best was I received a text message letting me know what technician was on the way to my home with a photo of him and a little bio. Since I was home alone I appreciated having that extra info and knowing exactly who I was letting into my house. Jason and Jake were friendly and polite. They took the time to explain what they were doing step by step. They performed inside fireplace and chimney inspection and then the exterior. They also cleaned/swept our chimney. At the end Jason reviewed our options both internally and externally. We paid for the service and then he left us with the info and estimates to consider. No pressure, which was lovely. I would (and do) recommend them to anyone who needs and inspection, service, or simple sweep.

Jeff G: Bottom line up front: friendly service, expect them to try and upsell you on services that you didn’t ask for. You absolutely must get a second quote/opinion on recommended repairs!!!!! Details: Tried to make an appointment online to get my chimney inspected because some bricks were flaking off up near the top, but apparently that system is buggy because I got a call two days later telling me that slot was actually booked solid, how about one 5 or 7 days later? Sam came out on time and was super friendly and informative about the work he was doing. Loved the education about my chimney, didn’t care for the steady flow of offers to perform other unrelated services - inspect & clean my furnace stack, replace an old vent on the top of my roof, etc. After the inspection and cleaning I was quoted $2200 for a variety of repairs. Fortunately I got a second opinion from another reputable, insured company who took care of everything for just over half that amount. Loved the service I got from Sam, wish the company wouldn’t push add-on jobs and had fair prices. If so, I’d totally use you again and give a higher rating. Clarification on the rating: Customer service & friendliness = 5 stars Pricing and constant up-selling attempts = 1 star Which I figure averages out to about 3 stars

I spoke with Peggy to schedule and get pricing info for a chimney inspection/cleaning and she was so kind, professional, and responsive! I called around to a lot of places in the area and almost always got a machine, until calling this family-run business. Also, Sweepmasters has some of the best pricing of the 7 places I called and got an answer from. She put me down for her next available slot (about 2 weeks out), asked if I preferred the morning or afternoon, and let me know she would give me a call the day before to let me know a time frame. She followed through like clockwork, gave me a window of 12-2, and Shane came out to inspect our chimney at 1 PM. Shane was great! Very professional and efficient, and it ended up that I didn't even need a cleaning, so I only paid for an inspection. They recommended resurfacing my chase cover outside, and Peggy followed up the next day to see if I wanted to schedule. Altogether, could not rave enough about what a positive exoerience I had! Eric Song: I tried sweep masters and was extremely disappointed. I called and scheduled for them to come out and they put me down for three weeks out. Today they were supposed to come and never came. I called them and they want to reschedule me to mid Nov. I asked if I was the only one pushed back and they claim that every person scheduled after me is pushed back to mid November. I find that extremely hard to believe. Don't deal with dishonest people! They should at least own up to their mistake!

Mr. Oseas Avelar arrived within the agreed upon 2 hour window. He was very professional and respectful of us and our property. He wore a mask and wore booties over his shoes. Mr. Oseas Avelar was extremely polite and answered all of our questions, in addition to keeping us informed of what he was doing and what we need to look for in the future to know we might have a clog. Mr. Oseas Avelar unclogged our dryer vent and we tested it out this evening. His service provided all of the difference. We no longer worry about a fire breaking out when we dry our clothes and we no longer have to dry our clothes for 240+ minutes. For us, that’s HUGE. Jim Barcliff: They must have all the customers they want and don’t want new business. I asked them if they could install a catalytic combustor in my recently installed but old wood stove. They charged $75 to look at my new chimney and say it was in good working order and that someone would be in touch regarding estimate. If you’re new; move on. They’ll just take $75 and you’ll never hear from them again.

The company is very well run, the prices are very reasonable , they do good work, show up on time and even call in advance to remind you, are friendly and kind and treat you like a valued customer. My previous company tried to intimate me into unnecessary work costing $10,000, but after multiple inspectors told me it wasn't necessary I realized it was a scam. Capitol chimney never does that. In fact this last time they found a minor issue and fixed it for free. I strongly recommend them.

I was told I’d be the first appointment because I’m across the street and someone would be there at 9am. Great! Nope. I called at 9:40 to see what’s going on and was told the tech was picking up stuff for another job and he would be there in maybe another hour. I told her I had to cancel and get to work and I wish someone had called at 9 to tell me that. She said okay and didn’t bother about a reschedule. I will not be using them for any work. They may do a great job but it’s the small customer service things that will sink your business. Just my experience and I hope it works out better for everyone else.

Benjamin Marks: The owner/operator sounds like a nice enough guy, but he is unreliable. I made an appointment with him for service at a time he suggested and after 3 hours of waiting, he was not able to make it to my home as planned. Though I was disappointed, he told me he would call me back that evening to reschedule. When he failed to call, I left him a message... and another message... and another message. Three weeks later, and still no response. Granted this was over the holidays, but he has still not followed up. I find this lack of professionalism concerning, especially from someone whose rates are not the best in the area. If you value your time, look elsewhere or clean the chimney yourself... It's not really that difficult and home depot has all you need for less than $50. Good luck!

Quotation received the same day and half deposit needed.. major payments accepted. Credit Card is what I would recommend especially if you get point perks. Bricks needed for the chimney was available so work started a day earlier that anticipated. And, everything was done within the timeframe even with the rainy week we experienced. They left the property clean and neat so I didn't do any cleanups. They were professional from the start to end from my experience.

It was double-sided and they creatively closed off the back side with special glass. I had it previously relined and the prior company relined it improperly and American Chimney saved me by removing the terracotta old lining (which should have been done previously and fixing both sides of the chimney. Katherine Joiner: After having received an estimate from another company, which I did not 100% get a good feeling from, American Professional Chimney came in for a second opinion. From the very beginning the staff has been amazing, the first visit we were given a window of 2 hours, do to extenuating circumstances, the gentleman was not going to make it within the window. He called me personally to let me know he would be late but he was still coming. During the days of installation the crew was professional, courteous, and did a great job. Everything in the house was covered and anything they needed moving they moved. After our insulation we noticed a slight issue and they sent out a person within one day to review the work. As soon as he saw it he knew exactly what needed to be done, and the crew was sent back out within 2 days. I can't say enough nice things about this company, their work, and their customer service. Service. We will be using them for all our our future fireplace needs, and spreading the word to our friends.

Ann Alger: They did a great job understanding the scope of work that needed to be accomplished and gave me a fair estimate. The crew that did the work were very organized and did a great job. They replaced crumbling cinder locks and bricks in an outside, below-ground stairwell. They repointed between the cinder blocks after power washing and scraping, then gave the walls, floor and stairs two coats of paint. It looks fantastic and is now structurally sound.
