President Lincoln's Cottage: what do users think?

Klau Pao: President Lincoln’s Cottage is a beautiful historic site, a must see! You can feel the soul of Lincoln in this home, its like going back in time and walking in the very private place where Mr.Lincoln often spend some of his most wonderful and difficult times in his life. Beautiful place!

DiamondAviation: Absolute must see! Our tour guide was extremely profound and the tour was very comprehensive. House is very well upkept. Congrats to the people responsible for restoration and preservation, they did an absolutely tremendous job while preserving essential elements of the house.

R. A. Toogood, II: This was an excellent experience. In the midst of our bustling city to explore such a tranquil, historic, and help centered environment was dynamic. Our tour guide, Paul, was extraordinary. My father and I had a wonderful time.

CHANCETHEBEST: Lots of information on Lincoln and his family. Also some information about the war.

LeFay Cottage at Little Washington: what do users think?

Shayda Windle: LeFay Cottage at Little Washington and the word "magic" must be synonymous! My husband and I were looking for a quick getaway from the noise of the DC metro area and came across LeFay Cottage online. It looked so different from places we normally stay in Shenandoah - there was something enchanting and romantic about this cottage located in Washington, Virginia, and I knew we had to visit! Our stay was everything we could have dreamt of and more. I was in awe the moment we drove up to the cottage and through the iron gates at the sight of ancient Christmas trees perfectly aligned with the crown of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Upon entering the cottage, we were amazed at the cleanliness and exquisite selection of furnishings, decor, and amenities, including all the lavendar products, to make the stay all the more magical. Inside, the cottage looks like a styled scene out of Southern Living magazine! We poured a glass of wine, and even in the winter, found ourselves sitting outside taking in the views and the sweet scent of lavendar filling the air. A few miles away is the Inn at Little Washington, along with many other fine-dining establishments, wineries, art galleries, and everything you can imagine for the outdoor enthusiast. Sally-Anne has outdone herself with this cottage, making it a special place for couples to come relax, a girls weekend retreat, or bachelorette party! Even better, the venue is perfectly setup for an indoor or outdoor wedding on any spot of her 5 acres, including the enchanting and unique Love Lavendar field she has created. Thank you, Sally-Anne! We are already itching to return!

Joanna Banks: We went to LeFay for a "Girlie Getaway" and had a fantastic time. LeFay is magical and enchanting. It is clean, cozy, and relaxing and perfect for a 2/3 night getaway or longer if you have the time. The property is breathtaking, and I can see why couples choose LeFay Cottage for their wedding venue. There is a lovely heart shaped lavender field on the beautiful property. It is in a great location, close to Inn at Little Washington and not too far from the Northern Virginia & DC. The owner was gracious and hospitable. I would highly recommend LeFay Cottage for a memorable experience.

Pink Cupcake: If only I could give six stars! We hosted our wedding here and the cottage was utterly charming! Sally Anne has thought of everything and we were well taken care of. And the beds are very comfortable! We are trying to figure out how to come stay again soon!

S Gunner: A wonderful weekend in an enchanting setting within a picturesque cottage. Peace , tranquility , and beautifully appointed - you’ll have everything you need! We feel rejuvenated after the weekend away in a gorgeous setting. The outer deck and grill is a huge plus and Sally-Anne’s attention to your comfort will make your stay feel like home away from home!

Sharon Sheehy: "Virginia Is For Lovers" is our states slogan, and it definitely fits the description for LeFay Cottage! My husband and I recently celebrated our wedding anniversary here, and it was the most perfect choice that we made as we now have beautiful memories that was spent here at LeFay! You have the whole cottage to yourself, very private, out in the beautiful Virginia countryside. It is impeccably decorated with gorgeous Country French furnishings, exceptionally clean and very quiet! There are plenty of restaurants in the surrounding area should you wish to go out, plenty of wineries, antique shops and horseback riding! If you are looking for a very romantic getaway that is not too far from home, no need to fly, just hop in your car and travel to Le Fay Cottage, you will not be disappointed that you did! The owner is very helpful with all of her recommendations, all of which we were only to happy to receive as they were perfect for us! So happy to have spent our anniversary here!!!!

Clare G: We recently visited LeFay Cottage at Little Washington. It was absolutely charming! After a scenic drive from the DC Metro area, we were impressed by the landscape, the scenery and the fresh air. Sally Anne left play fairy wings for our girls. The artworks and decor was elegant. This is a great place to go with children because they can run and play in the wide open spaces. Sally Anne also sent a thorough list of housekeeping items, anticipating any needs we may have had. Sally Anne provided some basic items, that were luxury quality, specifically the bath soaps, towels, bedsheets, as well as basic kitchen essentials. I enjoyed this family trip, but would love to plan a weekend getaway with my husband in the future!

Rich Falbo: We couldn’t be happier with our experience at LeFay Cottage. It was as if the whole weekend was dream… We were looking for a last-minute location to get married that was in the country, yet close enough to go to dinner at The Inn at Little Washington. We wanted to have something small and unique, but we also had some special needs that we were looking to accommodate. Sally Anne was so helpful from the moment we reached out. She was easy to work with and had helpful suggestions that ended up making the day so much more special. The cottage and grounds are so beautiful with so many unique touches from the fairies on the gates at the entrance to the beautiful artwork inside. Each of the three bedrooms has its own personality and the two full baths allowed our wedding group to get ready comfortably. Our daughter especially loved the fairy room. There were a lot of locations on the property we could have had our ceremony set up, but we opted for an indoor wedding because of the temperature and everything worked out so well. The space suited our needs and the lighting was perfect for the photographer. The wedding packages were awesome for us and helped reduce the stress we had in making plans. Sally Anne was able to work with our needs and provided us with a package that made it the perfect day for us. From the suggestions for a bridal shop, to providing an excellent and easy to work with photographer, the gorgeous flowers, the civil celebrant, and all the little details at the venue itself. Everything went off without a hitch. Sally Anne’s personal touch made everything so simple and easy that we had no worries as the day unfolded and we appreciate everything she did for us. We couldn’t imagine a more perfect day. Our experience at LeFay Cottage was amazing and made for a lifetime of memories.

Amitava Chatterjee: The Cocktail Club delivers a wonderful experience. Mick is a passionate and creative mixologist who puts a lot of effort into creating cocktails and building them with a lot of showmanship. Charming semi-private venue with an eclectic ambiance. Can’t wait to be back. Thanks, Mick!

Jeff Schwamb: Enjoyed the private bar experience. Mixologist Mick Perrigo made some amazing drinks and the room decor was conversation inspiring. Would recommend if you want a break from the loud social crowd just outside.

Danielle S: This place is pretty cool. I would give 5 stars but trying to get answers to questions about reservations was like pulling teeth. No one is there to pick up the phone and the email response time is slow and they didn’t even answer all my questions. I was ready to cancel our party here but kept it because the cabana rentals are very affordable. Also the food situation was confusing. I think we were supposed to order outside food? It would be great if they served food. We all left hungry. Once we got there, I was pleasantly surprised. The staff was amazing, helpful and friendly. They let us into our rental early to prepare for a surprise party. We are definitely planning to come back for another cabana reservation now that I know how it works. We really enjoyed our time here.

Alexis Aguero: The cocktail club experience with Mick has been absolutely astounding! It’s personalized and crafty! Micki is extremely knowledgeable and extremely charming! Greg has been so kind and very informative on what’s happening in DC. The whole experience was centered around my boyfriend’s birthday and we enjoyed the whole experience. Would 100% recommend to anyone who is into craft cocktails and into the exciting night life that DC has to offer. We were just in time to enjoy a burlesque show in Hook hall and we absolutely recommend this to anyone who enjoys excellent cocktails! Would come back!

Katy Dunn: Had the best night at Hook Hall’s Cocktail Club. Everything was perfect. Mick Perigno is a genius. Greg made our night truly special. And the cocktails were absolutely perfect. Thank you!

Athena Turner: I recently visited here for the first time for a friends birthday. We had a big cabana area and the service was exceptional. Our server Rachel was a great conversationalist and made sure the birthday girl had a great time! There are also some games we got to play like Ping Pong and Jenga which was really cool! Overall our first experience was very good and we enjoyed the atmosphere. We will definitely be returning!

Tiffany Anderson: I really enjoyed Hook Hall it was a nice cool place. They were clean, very courteous, and the staff were accommodating. There is not much variation in food choices but let me tell you how that pizza was hitting. I also want to highlight that parking in the neighborhood wasn’t so bad when I went on a Saturday. I parked on the side street of Hook Hall after circling the block once.

Vy H.: Cute ambiance here! My gfs and I came here recently on a Sunday evening while they had the cherry blossoms decor—we rented the Tea House Cabana-Style which fits up to 6 people, with a rental charge of $125 plus fees. The atmosphere is nice and the decor is cute! There is a small fire pit in our cabana as well, and a cute swing to sit on and take pictures. They had trash cans set up near each cabana so it got in the way of many of our swing photos (we eventually asked a staff to move it). Food wise, the menu is limited and not many good options—just typically bar food, but reasonably priced. They do have a full bar so we were able to order cocktails off the menu. The cabana rental came with a complimentary bottle of rosé.

Gigliotti Family: Great RV resort with lots of amenities and close to DC. We stayed for 3 nights over Easter. Sites are a little small but very clean. Bathhouses were close and also very clean. We had planned on going into DC 2 separate days but there was so much to do at the resort and our kids were having so much fun we decided to stay at the campground for 1 of the days instead of going into DC. The transportation offered to the metro was excellent and so convenient! Being novice campers, we forgot a few things but the general store at the campground had everything we needed. The cafe also has excellent food! We will definitely be back!!

Desi Jerry: The camp grounds was immaculate, bathrooms were clean at all times! We stayed in the premium tent site that were well worth the extra fee. Having the lawn chairs and gazebo was wonderful… Our family will stay here again! Location was close to stores if you needed to pick up groceries. The site also supplied Ice and wood delivery!

Michael Kraxberger: What a great place! The campgrounds are huge, but because of the segmented areas, it still has a small park feel - depending on where you are located. Some areas are quite tight and look crowded, others a little more spacious. Location is everything - this is 5 minutes from the Metro station (actually 2, we always went to Greenbelt station) which will take you anywhere inside the beltway, several downtown locations, and even to Mt. Vernon. The campground also has several private tours directly into DC - we took the night tour, which was a marked difference in the standard group tour. Grounds - exceptionally maintained. Amenities - beyond expectations. DC highlights seminar at 4:00 every day - fantastic content and helpful advice about the city. 2 pools, Hot tub, and sauna, two laundry rooms, clean, spacious, well-lit bathhouses, kids programs, gated access - all above standard. This is one of the best in the country!

Angeli: Everything was Excellent! The customer service was great. Everyone my husband and I dealt with that worked at the campground was very friendly , helpful and welcoming. The facilities ( Bathhouses) the shower stalls were keep pristine, there were very good water pressure and plenty of hot water. All of the amenities were obviously well maintained, The pool, Splash pad, miniature Golf, Basketball Court. The campground at Cherry Hill Park is a beautiful place with many areas of peaceful tranquility so you can really relax. Also the roadways are well paved and lighted to make driving at night around the campground or even walking around at night quite comfortable. We used a tent and our site #116 was great. plenty of room for our vehicle, tent and lounge chairs. A picnic table and fire was provided. Thank you to everyone at Cherry Hill Campgounds. My husband and I really enjoyed ourselves and are already planning a return trip later this year.

Jeff Dykie: Our family stayed here in a travel trailer. We chose Cherry Hill Park because of how close it is to Washington DC. Cherry Hill is fabulous! We have stayed at many campgrounds and this was one of the nicest. The pride the owners and employees have in this campground is evident when you first enter. There really are no "bad" sites. A lot to do, great store. Went to DC on the express bus, very convenient. We already booked for next summer!

Eric Wolf: This was our second trip to Cherry Hill. We were here 5 years ago and stayed in a cabin, that has since been upgraded to a Yurt. This time we came in our own camper. We would highly recommend and will definitely return when we want to visit DC again. The convenience of the location is unbeatable. They do run a bus from the campground to the nearest metro station. We opted to drive our truck to the Greenbelt station and park for a $4.95 flat rate during the week, free on weekends and get a 3 - day metro pass ($28.00) We could not have been happier with this decision. The drive in on weekdays to DC was routinely showing 1 hour on google maps. The Campground has definitely made many improvements since we were last here. The pool is a fun spot, the dog park is great, the mini golf is as good as any that would pay to go to. (there is a $1 fee per person) I was glad to pay as it kept kids from just congregating there. The workers were all very friendly. We ended up in the middle of a large group of campers who told us they were there to party. Party they did, but the campground was on top of them and shut them down promptly at 10 p.m. every day. The bathhouses were clean and maintained, as is the whole campground. It is very well kept up. The store is well stocked with groceries and essentially an RV parts store. The only negative is that there is a fair bit of highway noise, but we were okay with that since we were so close to DC.
