Hillel Weinberg: As usual, it was wonderful yesterday ... This warm, egalitarian, participatory community has been operating for nearly 50 years (now in its 4th location and sharing space at the Washington Ethical Society). It is a classic - indeed pioneering - "havurah." Visitors are welcomed to services held Saturday mornings at 9:30. Holiday services are also held, times and sometimes locations vary. Services are mainly in Hebrew; Torah discussion (in English) is a highlight. Shabbat services are over just after noon followed by kiddish. Please check the website as on rare occasions services are held elsewhere.

Jeanne Fleming: This synagogue is warm and welcoming with so many interesting programs. There’s something for everyone. I’ve met so many friends through the programs at Temple and love the services. Friday night services are so rewarding. Torah study on Saturday mornings is a wonderful way to learn all the things I never knew.
David Rosenblum: There is so much wonderful programming happening at Washington Hebrew Congregation. The religious and spiritual life is warm and inviting. If you’re looking for a Jewish community, a place to share life’s milestones, and becoming engaged with a historic and forward looking Temple , come to a few of its joyful services, lectures or events.
Dan Werner: Washington Hebrew is a welcoming community that has given me many different engaging opportunities to build and further explore Jewish values. The friends my wife and I have made at WHC are important to us and a major aspect of our life in Washington.
Jonathan Miller: We are new to the area and are impressed with the innovative programming and staff at this congregation. Especially enjoy the shot of Torah. The rabbis are each thoughtful and kind and the music is superb.
Hank Levine: Our family has belonged to WHC for over 30 years. Generations educated, bar and bat mitzvahed, confirmed, and married there. It’s been warm, welcoming, and surprisingly intimate despite its size (which helps ensure a strong religious school and a variety of excellent programs).
Jami Axelrod: It has been an honor to serve on the Board of WHC and witness first hand the dedication of the volunteers and the amazing staff. They all embody the warmth and openness of welcoming all into the congregation.
Evan Winston: WHC is an incredible Synagogue! It is so well rounded in activities and programs. The Macomb Street location and Bindeman Center in Potomac both provide for incredible child education, teen activities, adult programming, couples events, family events, and a wide selection of services to choose from. There is so much community involvement and and the clergy are so personally engaging. Member feedback is always encouraged and WHC is always evolving to be the a premier Synagogue that is rich in history. Washington Hebrew is widely known and respected throughout the community and leads by example. Simply put, its a wonderful place to be associated with.
Bonnie Leventhal: We are so grateful to belong to the WHC community. Everyone is so warm, welcoming, and loving. Being a member at WHC makes me feel even more proud to be Jewish. Rabbi Shankman and Cantor Bortnick are so inspiriting and supportive. I would highly recommend WHC to anyone looking for an inclusive, nurturing, and uplifting synagogue.
Andrew Lazerow: WHC has been our family’s source of community and comfort for over 50 years. It is an incredibly warm and welcoming place for new members.

Anne Cohn: Rabbi Ceitlin and the Chabad congregation in Northeast are very welcoming to all who wish to take part in Jewish activities. We enjoyed meeting up with the group in Lincoln Park in September for the celebration of Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year. With social Distancing and masks, of course!
Menachem Amar: Very warm and welcoming people! Love it!
