Early Steps Bilingual Preschool: what do users think?

Mercedes M: This unique row house was re-converted into a beautiful bilingual preschool, that is a little known secret in Georgetown! The pictures posted are from the previous owners who sold (without warning parents) out to the new company, Early Steps Bilingual Preschools. They have 3 other highly rated centers in NoVa. It took some serious reconstruction to create the optimum learning areas for young children and the company retained artist to transition this little gem. The older photos do not give justice to how beautiful the center is and how much TLC the new owners put into their new baby school! Take a look at the website for further information about curriculum and the education processes held there. This new school has a great future!

Rebecca S: I was skeptical based on reviews about the place but took a chance. The people and families are nice. The Director and Asst are lovely and very helpful. I like the structure for my little one and the teachers have told me they are enjoying it. I saw the posts and was skeptical at first, but I have been there for a month and we like it. Looking forward to the play area and the warm weather so the kids can go outside. I would recommend to others.

juan carlos cabrera: I have my baby there, they take babies as early as 6 weeks old and love being able to see her thru the web camera system they offer, I could see her all day in the room and outside when they are out at the patio they have. What I like the best is that they have a lot of staff available to take care of the kids.

Talentos Bilingual Child Development Center: what do users think?

Nirvana Darryl: Beware, this daycare will pull the rug out from you. We toured and put a down payment down to hold a "guaranteed spot" for our son in early January, a few months before he was born. We were guaranteed a spot for August 15, the week I planned to return to work. I called in June to check in and to schedule a time to bring the baby for the teachers to meet him well ahead of the start date. A week after my call, just before we were supposed to meet again, a representative called to let me know that they would no longer be able to honor the guarantee for our spot and that I should come by to pick up my deposit. As you can imagine, this was completely stressful. In this area, it is nearly impossible to get into daycare 6 weeks before you need to return to work. They completely left us in the lurch and did nothing to try to help the situation.

andre holmes: A wonderful environment for learning and a excellent and loving staff!

The Montessori School of Washington DC: what do users think?

Hortensia Gjonca: We strongly recommend this school, not only for what it offers to your child in the academic way, but mostly for the way they offer it, using the Montessori philosophy. The teachers in this school are amazing! They are always smiling! You can easily understand that they love what they do by the way they approach our kids! Our daughter had the smoothiest transition ever when she first started to go to MSOW, thanks to the teachers. Teacher-parent relationship is also amazing!

Russet Diam: Great school for beginners. Everyone is so warm and welcoming! Kids are always happy and enjoy being there. Good job to the team. Highly recommend. RG

Ruby Roy: Great school and wonderful teachers! I highly recommend the school and the Montessori method!

Peaceful Play Center: what do users think?

Cleopatra McGovern: Peaceful Play Center is an amazing bilingual/Spanish immersion daycare. They have a thoughtful curriculum involving group and individual learning and play and take the children outdoors every day, weather permitting. They provide home-cooked and healthy breakfast, lunch and snack. The staff is very open and communicative and does an excellent job keeping parents up to date about changes at the center and about their individual children. The staff are always friendly and loving with the children and the hours of operation are excellent. I feel very lucky to have found this daycare and our daughter could not be happier when she arrives every morning.

Erik Dreyer: Lovely Spanish immersion daycare. The staff and leadership put a lot of time and care into crafting a space for kids to flourish.

La Petite Academy of Washington: what do users think?

Muhammad Bilal Bawany: This daycare is a god send. We just enrolled our 2.5 year old daughter and regret not sending her earlier. The school sends lots of updates throughout the day on potty training, food and activities as well as photos. La Petite also offers classroom cameras for your child’s room, which - for nervous parents like us - helped us feel at ease since we could check in and see that she was having fun and participating in learning activities through the day. The teachers are great, the school is organized, super easy system, and has huge playgrounds which is a rarity in DC. Fully recommend, it’s a great place to send your kid.

Bethany Rosera: Love the infant teachers, they are great with my daughter! Lots of updates for parents and very clean, best place! Updating now that it’s been 2 years, we are still there and my daughter has been through almost every classroom they offer. Great with COVID protocols, always responsive. Recently got a new playground and renovations. The staff has ALWAYS been great with my very anxious daughter, challenging her and supporting her along the way. She’s now 3 and starting to sound out words! Like any school there’s sometimes issues that come up, but if you communicate with the school everyone is responsive.

Conor O'Brien: Great school/daycare. They participate in the Childcare Aware Program that subsidizes Active Duty military childcare if care is unavailable on base, which was a huge help given the cost of care in the area. Professional, loving teachers and a safe environment. We will likely send our next child here too.

Melissa Marks: My son attended La Petite from the time he was 3 months until he was 3.5 yrs old. We had a wonderful experience. Any concerns we had were addressed quickly and thoroughly. The teachers all knew him by name (even the teachers from other classes) and it felt like a family atmosphere. I cried on his last day!! When he started PK3 this year he was fully prepared and on track with the rest of the children in language, math and social skills. We will be sending our second child there in the fall.

J S (Anonymous): RUN!!!! Do not bring your children here, this place is very unprofessional down to the teachers. They are overpriced and you’re not seeing exactly what the money is being put into. they provide breakfast, lunch, and 1 pm snack and also diapers, wipes, and sippy cups. But that still doesn’t scream 500+/week. The teachers are always on they’re phones and not paying any attention to the students. The management team don’t care about anyone but themselves. You bring something to their attention and they just sweep it under the rug. The classrooms are always left out of ratio, when you see the teachers they’re always looking overwhelmed or stressed and most days it’s only 9am smh. Something has to give with this place. This has been going on since my daughter (who is now 3) has been attending. I tried with my other daughter but it wasn’t a great turnout. My daughter was in the toddler department. The teachers who she was with can barely speak English so myself, my daughter, and the teachers had a hard time understanding each other. I just really wish the best for this location!

Kassie Lord: We love La Petite. My daughter started when she was 4 months and is now 19 months. We’re moving out of the area unfortunately and will miss having her here. There have been many improvements over the last 2 years including a renovation and new playground. Staff are positive and responsive. Thank you!!

Washington Waldorf School: what do users think?

Bonnie Auslander: A fantastic community of teachers who are dedicated to their students. My two kids have been there for six years and love it. Lots more info about our school on DC Urban Moms. Come take a tour or attend the bazaar in November to get a sense of what Waldorf/ Steiner education is all about.

Jennie Rabinowitz: Incredible place for children to learn at a developmentally appropriate pace without being beholden to nonstop testing. Teachers here have deep relationships with and insights into their individual students. So happy to have found this wonderful school and community!

Eric Holdsworth: We have had our daughter at this school since pre-school and she loves it. This school and its method of teaching are a magic elixir for what ails most public school teaching. Come to Waldorf and find a better way to learn.

Don Gabriel: I have no children, but I’ve always been impressed by the lectures that I attended. Everyone seems to be remarkably dedicated to their Waldorf adventure.

Andrei Farago: My friends and I were treated very badly by a teacher named miss spotolnick but everyone else was nice.

Thiago Roberto: Excellent

Johnson's Florist and Garden Centers: what do users think?

Jesse Cowan: Terrific customer service today! I was greeted right away by a friendly staffer who showed me just the plant I was looking for and helped me pick one from 3 healthy specimens. Then another friendly staffer potted it for me, and when she understood it was to be a gift, wrapped it with pretty tissue paper. So grateful, and looking forward to coming back soon.

Dan S: Nice people working there, hence my not giving 1 star. We’ve had multiple issues of purchasing products from them that are infested with various pests. We bought a palm plant from them, to then find out it was infested with spider mites (to this day we haven’t been able to get rid of them, and have isolated our palm plant). We also bought compost from them on a separate occasion, to then find out (the hard way) that it was infested with fungus gnats. Our veggies withered because these gnats ate all the roots. I don’t recommend purchasing any plant products from this store, as they seem to have pest problems.

Bailey Price: Beautiful garden center that had everything I could have needed! Thanks so much to Eileen for working with me for about a half hour to pick all of the right plants and materials for what I was looking for! They turned out so nicely!

Andrea: This place is a plant haven. I would recommend going here over any other shop. The products are high quality, staff is friendly and there is a large selection. I got two small house plants and the staff had such good recommendations for my situation.

J. D. Rosenzweig: Great local flower and plant store. Much better going here than a big box store. Excellent plants inside for gifts. Knowledgeable and friendly staff.

M B: Good selection of plants and supplies. However, the cashiers, particularly the younger cashiers, aren’t very friendly. I felt as though I were imposing on their precious time by having the audacity of being a customer. No smile or friendly “Hello” or “How may I help you” for a greeting. Instead, I received an irritated “Can I help you?” from not one but both cashiers. It wasn’t packed, so I really didn’t understand the seemingly irritated or exasperated attitude. If said cashiers don’t want to help anyone, there’s a solution—QUIT! And don’t hold a position where one has to interface with the public! Needless to say, I won’t be back. I’ll do my shopping via Amazon. At least that way, I’ll be able to save time, money, and not have to deal with abysmal customer service!

Chanpen Tee: There are a lot of plants foe indoors and outdoors. Staff is friendly.

Meadows Farms Nurseries and Landscape: what do users think?

Mark Eberhart: UPDATE: 26 DEC 2020 Just received a check from Meadow Farms reimbursing us for our Christmas tree this year. I’m leaving the pics for people to see why we were reimbursed. These were taken 2-3 days after bringing tree home and ensuring it was properly watered. Thank you to Meadow Farms for taking responsibility, it demonstrates a focus on customer service many companies are losing in the rush to increase shareholder value.

Bob Petrine: Very nice selection of plantsBe aware that all prices are much higher than last years.Lots of annuals today; shop soon

Peter DeThier: Absolutely and inexcusably HORRENDOUS work and completely incapable customer service, I would not recommend this company to anyone. Awarding a single star is on the generous side. Since "a picture paints a thousand words", the photos below should say everything: We had 5 Skip Laurels planted in our backyard, the "professional Planting / installation" alone, which took less than 40 minutes (no mask or attempt at social distancing, this in the midst of the third wave....) and was done in manner opposite of anything resembling professionalism, cost around $500. Two of the trees were planted crooked. After raising this with Meadows Farms, they sent out a different person, who "adjusted" one of the trees to be at even more of a slant than before. Before being dispatch another crew to re-plant or at least straighten, Meadows Farms performed a fertilizer treatment during which the individual distributing the fertilizer before our very eyes literallly plowed through the trees, in the process pushing the most crooked one over even further. A subsequent appointment to correct this was made, though without any explanation no one even showed up at the agreed upon time. Emails are being ignored, as are phone calls. Legal action may be the only recourse at this point. Outraged and disgusted at the inexcusably poor quality of their work, customer service and willingness to stand by their product and services.

Adhavan Jeyachandran: Went during covid crisis and felt good that they practice social distancing. Very good selection of plants. Now our apartment garden shines with red yellow and lavender flowers.

Michael Manson: Came here for Christmas tree and poinsettias. Great selection and quality! Customer service was above and beyond what I expected! 3 employees helped us load up because it was slow at the time. The Cashier was supercool and nice with our niece. They were like best buddies. Thanks again Meadow’s!!

J Skinner: What an excellent selection of Christmas trees! Smells like heaven here right now. Everybody we ran across was super helpful and kind. This is our second year to buy here, and it will definitely be our top choice going forward!

David Santos: I went to this place two days ago, the place is very beautiful and they have a variety of flowers. I wanted to buy many flowers for my balcony, when I arrived at the establishment I could see how 4 young people were talking and sitting. They offered no help at all! Hey guys work more on your customer service because it is terrible.

sam osta: Amazing selection way better price and quality then home depot, lowes.

D Hunt: There are major differences between the Meadows Farm locations, including this one and the one a mile down Rt. 7. This one has more shade loving plants and hydrangeas. It selection of shrubs and trees is always different, with more large, standard specimen plants since it has a lot of space. It usually has more houseplants. I need to go to both locations to find what I need. There are two other problems: delivery is very slow, and installtion even slower, and their prices are high. Notthe top of the market, but just below. BTW: THeir landscape design sevice is good, but quoted prices are really high.
