Hop, Cask & Barrel: what do users think?

Jadon Marianetti: Fantastic selection of wines and spirits. Got all my favorite rare Eastern European wines ordered. Jared was super knowledgeable and helpful. Really great all-around experience. Ordered online, will be delivered to my house! Outstanding.

Adrienne Rogers: Love this place, they have every kind of booze... beer, wine, hard stuff, what ever suits your fancy they have !I especially like the low carb & no sugar added wine available, they do need to add more selections of this type though

Theadore Goode: Extensive IPA and cider selection possibly unmatched in the DMV but if you're looking for spirits expect to pay more than you would at other ABC establishments in the city
Response: HI, THEADORE ! THANK YOU SO MUCH YOUR GREAT REVIEW !!

Mark Freiheit: This is a fun-packed liquor store with all kinds of hard-to-get varieties. The seller for me was Appalachian Sippin Cream and Korean Soju. Hard to get, and both available at this liquor store that has the old-fashioned charm of a cozy book store.

Cal Roop: I should’ve read the reviews on this place, but I didn’t and I learned the hard way. DO NOT ORDER ANYTHING ONLINE FROM Hop, Cask & Barrel. Seriously, they are inept and just blame it on COVID. Placing my order online was fine and they gladly took all my money for the order upfront. Problems started to occur when I didn’t get a shipment confirmation when promised. It took them days to respond to my emails and when they did, they blamed COVID and promised my order would ship out in the next 2 days. Then those 2 days passed and when I queried them, they then blamed their inventory problems on IT and said they couldn’t fulfill my order. They again made a hollow promise saying they would refund my money soon and of course they haven’t yet. This business cannot be trusted and will keep your money. Do yourself a favor and SHOP ELSEWHERE!

Brian S.: Do NOT order anything from this place. We placed an order thru them online for 6 bottles of a Columbia valley wine the Vivino app. It was $33 a bottle so a good high priced bottle. We opened up the first bottle and the smell was nasty. It smells like mold and mildew. It tastes exactly like mold n mildew also. Just not good. We contact this merchant to let them know as one would think they would care n want to know. But all the person did was defer us back to Vivino. He had NO interest in doing anything. He didn’t even ask the name of the wine. He wanted to do nothing. Totally unacceptable. So yes I will be contacting Vivino now and wanting a refund for whole order. We thought by contacting merchant maybe they would just send a replacement bottle from a different batch to make it easy. So now you can get a chargeback n we will make sure to NEVER buy a wine off of Vivino if this merchant is the seller of it! Beware of this merchant! They just don’t care!!
Response: PLEASE ANY THINGS ORDER FROM VIVINO WE ARE NOT A RIGHT PERSON TO TALK , YOU SHOULD TRYING TO CALLED VIVIO

Todd Main: Great selection of bourbon! They had hard-to-find stuff in stock with very reasonable prices. A must visit if you are looking for high-end or hard to find liquor.

Harvey Mayorga: Great spot! And they carry one of my favorite Mezcal’s!! Los Javis
Response: Thank you Havey !!

Alan Walmsley: Hi,C&B is the best around. Good range of beers, wine (US and imported) and spirits; my primary purpose in the shop was to stock up on the 1.75 liter bottle of premium Tanqueray gin. Bargain price. Closes rather early so don't hesitate. Nice staff, slightly remote as is the US style. Still, I guess they knew what I was after ...
Response: THANKS FOR BEEN OUR BEST CUSTOMER DEFINITELY WE LL KEEP FULL SINCE NOW !

Corey Hinkle: Felt a little bait and switched here. Used Untappd to find rarer beers and they weren't able to produce them once I got there. Gave me the run around for awhile, only to say they couldn't find it, must be sold. Then asked about a whole box of beer behind the counter, showed me a bottle, said I would take one for them to tell me, "Oh no, a customer has bought all of that." They definitely had a good selection, pretty reasonable prices, but the whole thing left a bad taste in my mouth.
Response: We’re sorry for your bad experience, Corey. Management spoke with the staff present during your visit. We try to keep Untappd updated as much as possible but it can be tricky with nearly 800 products. If you were looking for Westy 12, we have some in transit. If they could not find a particular beer, please ask for Jared and he will give you a definitive answer to whether the product is in stock and will locate the product for you. As for the cases behind the counter, they are kept there because they are not yet ready for sale. We will have Kentucky Christmas Morning available starting 12/28, because we received it while many customers were out of town for the holidays and we don’t want to disappoint our regular customers while they are gone. Any other cases behind the counter were reserved for our beer club or prepaid for by a customer. We do not wish to give any customer a poor experience and will help you in any way we can to renew your confidence and get you what you’re looking for. We apologize for the occasions when our part time staff can’t assist properly.

DVINES: what do users think?

Austin Graff: D'Vines is a small liquor shop in craft beer and wine shop in Columbia Heights. I've overlooked it for years until I tasted a sour from Texas' only Black-owned brewery called Weathered Souls at a craft beer festival. Turns out, D'Vines is the one of two shops in D.C. that carries their sours. I stopped in and sure enough- they had it! On top of that, they had a few other sour ales (my favorite) from craft breweries around the country. The prices are a little steep, but part of that is D.C.

Jack Nugent: Bought a growler here for my home brew kombucha, it was way cheaper than anything I could find online and the staff was very friendly. Will be coming back!

Adam Nothem: Great liquor store. They have a ton of options for a range of budgets and the beer growler machine is a true beauty. They also have tastings often. Stop in on a Friday evening and you might have the option to taste beers, whiskey, and wine all while grabbing a $9 sale growler to unwind with at home. Employees are very helpful and kind people.

Konrad Mugglestone: Quality beer and wine selection -- one of the best in the area. There are usually some specialty large format beers in there too. I've found the staff to be very helpful and knowledgeable as well. Sometimes the prices can be a little high, but nothing out of the ordinary for a central DC shop.

Dave Miller: A delightful boutique wine and spirits shop, with a fantastic selection for its size. The staff knows their stock well and are consistently attentive, in my experience. I live nearby and have been going here frequently since they first opened as a beer and wine store. They've expanded tremendously since then and now offer a great selection of whisky and other spirits as well.

Katy Swiere: Helpful and knowledgeable staff. But low rating because, in the midst of a pandemic and a DC mask mandate for indoor spaces, none of the staff were even attempting to wear masks. Really disheartening.

James Liska: I like this shop. It's close to the metro, so easy to hit up if you're coming back from work. They have some good growler offerings, with a standard selection of beer bombers and an above-average selection of six-packs. Service has usually been good - it's much improved over the past few years. The guys are friendly enough and are usually able to help you immediately if you have a question. I have gotten good service at the growler counter every time I've gone.

John Brisbane: Amazing selection of local beer and liquors. Staff is incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. Always get a great recommendation from this place for just about anything.

Kathryn Dreitzler: Okay spot if you need something in a hurry or enjoy beer. We just got engaged and went in for something to celebrate. I asked for something bubbly not to sweet and not to dry and they woman behind the counter noted that ‘bubbly things don’t come sweet’ and then proceeded to be on her phone the entire time we checked out. They lost out on a big potential order and I likely won’t come back for the pretentious staff.

Ryan Patch: Best wine / beer / liquor store I've found in DC. Great selection of "the good stuff". Prices are normal - not great but certainly not gouging. Not a great source of budget wine (if you're looking for that go to Trader Joe's). But if you like GOOD wine, liquor, and beer (including a great growler station) then this is your place.

The Bruery Store: what do users think?

AJ Hendricks: Member of The Bruery Reserve Beer Club. The staff at the store are very friendly, and The Bruery makes some of the best stouts and sours you'll ever find. Also, they carry great IPAs from their sister brewery, Offshoot Beer Co.

Derek Rebuck: I went to the Bruery Store in October after receiving a nift coupon. I obviously enjoyed it because I've been there at least 3 times since. I really enjoy their selection and interesting flavors. They have a huge sours section. The staff are very friendly and happy to provide suggestions. They have always complimented my selections, and while they may very well do it for everyone, it still makes me feel good. They make a lot of different flavors that you won't find elsewhere. It's definitely worth a trip. And with the holiday season around us, what better way to show appreciation for a family member or friend with a unique beer from the Bruery story.

Ed A: Great spot to pickup orders from preservation, reserve and hoarders society membership online orders or as a member of the public shopping for great beer and merchandise. There is now a custom draft system for crowler fills (never seen anything like it). Still no drinking on premises but that may change in the future. The people working there are helpful and efficient so go check it out. Cheers!

Matthew Maisano: The beer is amazing, but the staff is awesome as well. Won’t specify what, but they did me a solid when they didn’t have to and I appreciate that greatly.

Tommy Kromer: Fantastic people and fantastic beer! Been a member for a few years and that’s not going to stop!

Jacob Murphy: Love the tasting menu that they have here and the variety of quality brews!

Coral Dirks: Super cool store in a hot spot. I first heard about this store from a friend whose son lives in CA. He loves it so much that he has the Invite Only membership. Naturally, I was excited to see that they have a store front in DC and was not disappointed. The Bruery offers a nice variety of beer including my favorite -- sours! Shop has a homey vibe. It looks like an industrial barn with lots of natural lighting, as opposed to a gas station or no-name liquor store. These days, the experience is everything. The two members on staff were the perfect sellers; they gave me my space and didn't make me feel like I was being watched. However, they were quick to answer any questions I had and with some good humor. :) Very knowledgeable about their products and had recommendations ready for anything I threw at them. Considering a membership myself!

Ryan Linehan: These guys know their beer! Just got the Starling Ovation and it is delicious. Get it before it's gone and if it's gone get a 4 pack of Relax. Yum!

James R: Among the best breweries in the country. The shop is a little out of the way and the people there can be a little surly or snobby (depending on the night) but overall, always a great experience.
Response: Hey James, thanks for the five star review! Sorry to hear your experience with the staff was less than stellar. We definitely try to emphasize customer service and its clear theres room for improvement. A thousand apologies!

Anne Johnson: They have an eclectic selection of beers. Their stouts are extremely smooth and tasty. I was a little disappointed that we pre-ordered, but when we got there we were told they were sold out. I believe if you pre-order they should hold for you until you pick it up.

U Street Wine and Beer: what do users think?

Rudolf Kormos: Worst liquor store ever, rude employees bad selection

Gabrielle Marush: They have my favorite beer I've never been able to find it before! Great selection, sharp interior it just looks great it's somewhere you want to browse around. Slightly higher price point but know your budget and if you can spend ~$10-$20 on your wine this place will make you happy!

Miki Mi: Rude employees, no good selection

Jason Ponder: Limited selection and extremely overpriced. Strongly recommend going to one of the many other places for wine or beer. 4 pack of beer for $17, seltzer for $22. More than 10% over anywhere I have ever seen.

Chris: I wish they had a better selection of wines. A majority of the bottles were in the $15 range. If you're looking for something exquisite I would recommend another location. Well see how this bottle is.

Matt Grotheer: If you're looking for rare beer releases, look here. They often have stuff on the shelves weeks or months after it's sold out in other stores. The downside: it's all radically overpriced.

Gerald “G_Wiz” Palmer: I was disappointed on that when I came to u street wine and beer the girl closed at 8 o'clock on Sunday when the schedule said that they close at 10pm and she would not even talk to me after I caught an uber there false advertisement and unprofessional.

Benjamin Glaubinger: Inattentive employees and middling selection. Fine for grab and go but not much else.

Kirsten Spittel-Sloan: Good selection. Watch out on weekends as they do run out of stock on the basics.

andre holmes: Wonderful Selection of wine and beer from around the world!

Downtown Liquors: what do users think?

Lauren W: I love Downtown Liquors! They have a great selection of beer, wine, and spirits at a good price. It's always my preference to support a small business that is owner operated with a great staff. Super bonus: on International Women's Day (March 8 every year) they offer a bottle of wine for a penny!

Alice: I moved into this neighborhood a few months ago. Downtown Liquors has definitely been one of my go-to spots for a chill night at home. It’s so convenient, has a tasty and wide selection, and amazing customer service. Perfect spot for a wine connoisseur, a casual enthusiast, and any occasion!
Response: Alice thank you for your 5 star review! It mean a lot to us . Thanks again !

Neruda Williams: Went on my birthday this past Sunday April 24th and the owner Jaspreet was the best. Treated me just the way you want to be treated on your special day. Gave me a free bottle as a gift. Awesome store run by awesome people. 10/10 Would recommend.

Virginia Market: what do users think?

Sascha Burns: I was so sad when this store changed hands. It's a block away from my house so I still go in a pinch BUT the wine is so overpriced - $3 to $4 more for same bottle anywhere in the neighborhood. Very small selection that's chilled And what is chilled, isn't cold, nor is the beer. I put them in the freezer when I get home until it's drinkable. HUGE disappointment!

Neal: Virginia Market is a quaint little bodega with ice cold beverages, domestic and imported beers, chilled and at room temperature plus a nice selection of red and white wines from around the world. They also carry a wide assortment of low to high end liquors from absinthe to vodka. The woman behind the counter is friendly, timid and quiet. My quess is she doesn’t order or drink the products. She keeps the store very clean and locals love this great find.

Emi Ruff: Their wine is definitely on the higher end of the price range for a liquor store in DC, but they have a great selection of liquor, beer, and wine. The folks who work here are super friendly, and they have a nice little higher end snack selection too. I’m happy to live so close to it!

D Wise: Came here on Sunday and there was absolutely no customer service! The woman at the register just stared at me and my friends. It was a weird and awkward experience. I truly felt racially profiled. We left and went to another liquor store due to the uncomfortable experience. I was absolutely disgusted and cannot patronize an establishment where such behaviors are displayed!

Natasha Del Toro: Woah. I bought a bottle of Rowan's Creek bourbon for a birthday gift at this story and then saw that same bottle for $42 at another liquor store a few blocks away. That's a pretty outrageous mark up. I wouldn't buy here again.

Madeleine Mott: Always such a pleasant experience at Virginia market with Sue who makes sure the goods are in stock and serves with a smile!!! A must stop for your alcohol needs.

Peter Grant: Great service, great selection, great prices!! I’m always welcomed by Sue when I walk in. She keeps everything stocked and has a good selection of snacks as well!

Isaac Gilles: They have a great wine and craft beer selection, as well as a good liquor variety. High prices but worth it for what you’re getting!

Borys Pierov: Agree - great beer selection. They also have some nice wines. And all of that with reasonable prices!

Ashlie Bird: I love this neighborhood market, they always have exactly what I want and I can always find something new. However, the hours posted here on google are incorrect.

The Bottle Shop: what do users think?

Melyssa Harvell: Great experience! We stopped by the Bottle Shop to stock up our bar and Peter was very knowledgeable and gave us recommendations. There certainly are liquor stores closer to where we live, but we will go out of our way to visit the Bottle Shop again. This store has a variety of high-end liquor and Peter provided great customer service. It was close to closing and Peter gave us a full extra cake he had for a birthday party he was going to, just because he appreciated our business :)

Sophie Buskin: This place is great! I came in from out of town and asked for some recommendations. The friendly owner took his time helping me and I enjoyed everything that I purchased. 10/10 would go again!

Ailee Cho: Stopped by to purchase some bottles for the holidays. The store was super clean and had a wide selection of wine and champagne to choose from. The staff was very knowledgeable and helpful. Would definitely recommend!

Manny Jimenez: Great selection of beers, spirits and wine. The selections of wine vary from top dollar to affordable. Great for buying bottles to gift or less expensive wines to mix for sangria. The staff is also very knowledgeable.

Chris Taylor: A good selection of liquor (and the staff really know their stuff and are always happy to see you). They have a decent selection of beers and wines too. Overall, they have what they need for an upscale neighborhood joint.

Dorea Reeser: This is such a great, little liquor store. It's small and doesn't have a huge selection, BUT the selection is high quality for beer, wine and liquor. It's also one of the best decorated and laid out liquor stores I've ever been too. Though it's not the right spot if you're looking for anything cheap.

dipika: Popped in here quickly for something simple so I didn't check out the back (beer) selection but I was impressed with their spirits. I'll be coming back here to check out a new gin or Japanese whiskey!

Melisse S Ilhan: I will forever miss my 'bottle shop' after I move out of the area. It is clean, well-stocked, ultra convenient, and run by the sweetest professional shop keep.

Nina DELHOMME: Not sure I understand the high rating, very poor selection of wine and beer, no advice whatsoever, it feels like you buy and pay then you are better off going to TJ or Wholefoods

Corey Landolt: Best selection for a local spot if you live on 18th. Staff is always approachable and friendly, run by two brothers who work hard to keep their customers happy. If you want something they don't have and vocalize it, it'll be in stock next week.

Craft Beer Cellar DC: what do users think?

Thomas Nash: This isn't your average Icehouse. Great selection and the "the beer geeks are in" sign is the coolest marketing tool I've seen. The owner was super helpful and suggested some great beers. I will be back as close to weekly as possible.
Response: Thank you Thomas! We appreciate your kind words and support!

Christopher Weiss: Craft beer cellar DC is by far the best craft beer seller in the city. They have an amazing selection of craft beers and accessories. The proprietor is about the most learned beer master I’ve met. The store is impressive and easy to find with plenty of street parking nearby. I highly recommend visiting craft beer cellar DC anytime you’re near union station.
Response: Thank you Chris! Happy Holidays!

Richard Sassoon: When all hope to find single beers to buy was lost I found this beer paradise with a helpful staff that was patient enough to let me choose a few beers around their closing time. Now I know for the next time I'm in DC. Too bad I just found it on my last night here.

Lyric Obscura: Never a complaint about the beer. But I get the weirdest vibe from one of the staff, like she's watching me thinking I'm going to steal something, or that I'm homeless just because I carry bags (yall are located near a train station, you know) She always has this really unfriendly vibe to her, sometimes I don't want to come in.
Response: Hi Lyric, Thank you for your feedback! And we’re sorry we’ve given you any weird and unfriendly vibes; that is not our intention. We do try to roam the store, making ourselves available in case anyone needs help. I personally try to anticipate the need by watching for quizzical looks or someone juggling lots of beers so I can offer assistance/have them set the beers on the counter, etc, before being asked. Additionally, in an effort to keep everyone safe, we’ve had to be mask police for the last 1.5 years as people will pull their masks down while shopping. Our intention is to be the right amount of attentive and I’m sorry that we crossed into overbearing/suspicion. The next time you’re in, please introduce yourself and we can chat further. Happy Holidays! Erika

Rob Long: I come here to satisfy my need for beers that are typically not well stocked elsewhere, or are only available elsewhere seasonably. To my surprise, for a specialty and bottle shop, prices are competitive. When stocking up on my favorites, I like to support a locally owned franchise, rather than a grocery store, so it's nice that they reciprocate with hanging prices the same or close to same as big competitors. Give this a shot if you're a beer drinker!
Response: Thank you Rob! We appreciate the review and kind words.

Rick Parent: Great selection and service. Staff personally helped me maximize the quality of my choices within 8.5L pre-duty allotment to take back home across the border. Only place in DC that sells singles as well supposedly...Super convenient.
Response: We appreciate you visiting us during your stay in DC, Rick! And thank you for the review!

Jeffrey Dickson: Fantastic beer shop with a huge selection. Really can't recommend CBC DC enough to friends and family.
Response: Thanks Jeff! Hope to see you again soon!

Jess H: It's DOPE. There's so much to try and so many different beer! The associate was incredibly helpful in picking out a variety to give as a gift. Definitely coming back for myself soon
Response: Thank you Jess! We hope to see you soon!

Will Stallworth: Amazing place, and always a joy to visit. Very knowledgeable staff that is always willing to help you find new beers based off of your tastes. You can buy single cans to try things out, or get a 4/6-pack for those you love. They have a great selection of local DMV beers, as well as other large and small craft breweries from across the US and the world. They also have a fantastic selection of ciders and seltzers.
Response: Thank you Will!

Chris Garcia (ColdHeart): Best place to buy craft beer in DC. They have a wide selection of local brews, craft beers from across the US, and international beers as well as cider, wines, and craft liquors. The staff are super helpful and are always happy to answer any questions or help you find something as well as give recommendations.
Response: Thank you Chris! We appreciate you shopping with us, and for these kind words!

Batch 13: what do users think?

Ryan Rieboldt: Big moves, happened upon Batch 13 on accident and loved the selection and display! Surprised how many various beer options were available as well as the tequila and bourbon choices. If I’m ever back in the area will absolutely stop by to see what other goodies I can snatch up. Cheers!

Jason Hubner: I wasn't a customer here but I dropped my wallet outside the store when I was on vacation. Someone turned it at Batch 13. David at Batch 13 went out of his way to find me on Facebook and make sure I got my wallet back. Absolute life saver! Can't comment on the products available, but the people working there are top notch! Thanks again David!

Dave: Best liquor store in DC. Extremely helpful and knowledgeable. Great selection with some rare finds I could not find anywhere else in NW.

Alessandro Pisi: The staff is amazing and the selection they have is wild I have found bottles that I never thought would be outside of their country of origin (scapegrace NZ) a little to over priced but worth it for the selection, would not suggest shopping for a party but more for your own personal collection

Alexander Timofeyev: The place to go for spirits and anything you'd need for cocktails. Every spirit I was looking for, they had it. The Guyana rum I haven't been able to find anywhere else, they had it. The Spanish vermouth I've been looking for, they had it. Huge selection of rums, whiskies, tequilas, and mezcals. Amaros, specialty liqueurs, syrups, and bitters - everything you'd need to make any cocktail. They also have a pretty decent selection of wines and beer. The prices are surprisingly reasonable. Oh, and the staff are incredibly friendly and helpful and treat you like you're an old friend.

Madeline Guth: This is a great liquor store, with an excellent selection of wine, beer, and liquor without being too overwhelming. Would be a great place to come if you're looking for something specific, but also great if you're looking for something new to try. Staff is friendly and helpful but not overbearing if you just want to browse.

Patricia Pappan: My go to liquor store with the best selection. The employees are always very helpful and friendly. George ordered me a specific bottle I was having a hard time finding. Many thanks

Oliver Peña-Habib: One of the best selections in the city, for both wine and spirits. From awesome natural wines from Georgia (yes, the country Georgia) to fancy mezcal and chile liqueurs from Mexico — this is your 14th St go-to. Compared prices with other wine stores in the neighborhood and this was much better. Staff is very friendly, knowledgeable, and happy to help.

Sturg E: Miguel was most helpful and patient while assisting us to find the right Mezcal. Thanks Miguel!!

olebirddog theroofer: Batch 13 owner was really weird and creepy towards me and I would not shop at this liquor store again. The long haired guy at the corner was really nice and helpful, but the two morbidly obese men were extremely creepy following me around the store and never taking their eyes off me. Stay away from the creepers at Batch 13. Look at the other reviews, as they all tell the same story over a long period of time--Batch 13 owners are totally creepy! Stay away!

Select Reserves - Fine Wine, Spirits, Craft Beer: what do users think?

Jason Johnson: DO NOT BUY FROM THIS STORE. We've long purchased Don Julio and they sell bootlegged bottles at this store and claim that it's the real thing. Refused to give a refund when I called them out on it not being the real product.

Amit Vasudeva: I had an excellent experience with Select Reserves. Customer Service was amazing and prices were very reasonable compared to other stores. I would highly recommend this store to anyone looking for a great shopping experience.

Aditya Thakore: Good prices, friendly staff! Highly recommend

Rodrigo Lain: Great selection of wines, location and service.

Imperial Wine And Spirits: what do users think?

Eric Schonbachler: Great staff & a good selection. They offer fair prices on most items but expect to pay extra if you're looking for the more allocated/rare bottles. They have them, they'll just charge a lot for them (that's just the current market though, not their fault).

Darlene jackson: 8/27/21, visting from NY I decided to stop in looking for HENDRICKS GIN and to my surprise they had 3 selections 2 were specified as " Lunar & Orbium" The attendant commented that they come out once a year with the 2 selections and they go fast so I bought the 2 new selctions to take back to NY.

Brian Nelligan: Amazing selection and knowledgeable staff, great spot for whiskey and wine!

Marian Dvorak: This is our go-to best wine and liquor store! The staff is so nice and there is always a tasting which is fun. High recommend!!

yamina benkreira: The staff is extremely knowledgeable and welcoming. They have a fantastic range of spirits and affordable prices.

Rob Villacres: Great wine and liquor store Personal and friendly service. So glad we popped in here. Enjoyed the wine on our rooftop at our hotel We’ll be back

Christie Wright: I walked in 10 minutes until closing and announced I needed to buy a whiskey and a cabernet sauvignon as gifts. The woman (Angie based on another review??) took the very few words I used describe what I was looking for in the price range I needed and found two amazing bottles for me. I can't speak to the whiskey (although I do know parent company and love it)...but I bought myself the same recommended cab as well...and it's exactly what I described that I like. And I think I made it out right at closing too! Truly a gem and bottle whisperer. Thank you!

Jasmin Hollywood: Such kind employees and unbelievable deals on fine wines and spirits.

--: Consistently impressed with this place. Their location is clean, well organized, the staff genuinely friendly, as well as very knowledgeable and helpful. Also, they have great deals. They have a clearance area and I was able to snag 2 bottles of Stoley that would have been $20 each, for $10, so I bought two. It's a standard liquor store, but perfectly executed. I never knew one could be so "nice" it's almost wholesome! Anyway great people and great establishment, and conveniently located right next to Metro Center. They are my go-to liquor store when departing the office.

Ethan Mathess: Very nice owners. Pretty good selection for downtown. They have a small amount of beer, as well has some bottled water and cans of pop.

Cordial at the Wharf: Craft Wine, Beer and Spirits: what do users think?

Jennifer Kuzara: Stopped in this evening after dinner nearby. I won’t be back. I thought about picking up a bottle of red wine and asked for a recommendation. I said I liked things on the tannic/meaty side with notes of cedar. He said “how much are you looking to spend? That sounds pricey.” Which seemed like an odd thing to say about a single tasting note. I said “Do you have any French Malbecs?” because those tend to be right up my alley, especially when I’m looking for something at a specialty shop. He tried to tell me French Malbec grapes only exist in Bordeaux blends and not as a single origin wine. Which is nonsense, of course, but was also nonsense delivered with a big dose of mansplaining. No need to return to this place. I don’t need to be scoffed at when buying wine, but especially not by someone who doesn’t seem to know what they’re talking about.
Response: Jennifer, I’m sorry you had a poor experience in our shop. I will speak with the associate to ensure it doesn’t happen again. I would appreciate if you would reach out to me directly at the shop by phone so I can discuss your experience more and hopefully take better care of you personally. Thanks, Chuck Waldmann

Lee: Does not carry typical brands, but an interesting selection of liquor that might convince you to buy local or just a different brand. Also has a fridge with a small selection of cold beer, cider, and mead (also mostly local). Decorative wine selection but higher price points than I typically partake in.

Amruta Ghate: Expected to pay Wharf prices but found a nice bottle of tequila for ~$30 thanks to the guy working at the desk.
Response: Glad we were able to help you find what you were looking for!

Victoria Carroll: Nice selection of good quality wines, liquors, and craft beer. This shop has a cozy atmosphere in the middle of the wharf. Don't be scared away by the complaints about the staff, they're fine, just not overly bubbly, in my opinion
Response: Thank you for shopping with us!

j m: Would probably have a better store if the service wasn’t so pretentious and actually wanted to educate their customers. Not sure why a “craft” store would scoff at ignorance. Just go up a few blocks to Harry’s tbh
Response: Hello, I’m not sure what happened. Please contact me at chuck@cordialcraftwines.com so I can better understand what happened and try to make things right.

Chandra Clark: Worst customer service ever! I felt the need to validate my purchasing power as I was snubbed from the time that I walked into the door. Word to the staff, treat all patrons with respect regards of race. This visit will not sour my love for visiting DC.
Response: Hi Chandra, please contact me at chuck@cordialcraftwines.com so I can better understand what happened. I do not tolerate any racial bias in my shop at all and would appreciate learning from your experience.

Brittany M: Uncle Nearest was perfect for pur Juneteenth celebration 🍾
Response: Thanks for shopping with us!

C Leo: Nice selection of wines and other spirits. Except for David, the person promoting two French wines, the staff there were not very knowledgeable or helpful. The lady at checkout did not give me a receipt for my purchase until I asked for it.
Response: Thank you for your feedback. We're sorry you had a sub-par experience while shopping at Cordial Craft Wines. In late June 2019, a month or so after your visit, the store was sold to new owners and a new sales team is now in place. We hope to be able to provide better service moving forward.

Chris Weldon: I was recommended this place by s friend. The hard cider selection is excellent. Ciders from across the country and around the world. They also have a nice selection of Bourbon from local distilleries. The proprietor is very knowledgeable and willing to spend the time to explain anything you'd want to know. I will go back for more....

Danielle Pittwood: Very helpful! Lovely service. Thank you!
Response: Thank you! Glad your enjoyed our shop.

Barrel House Liquors: what do users think?

Arun Vishwanathan: Awesome place with amazing prices!!Don’t miss out :-)

Brian Houchens: Don’t call to ask whether or not a product is still there. Very rude and horrible customer service. I’m a business owner and wouldn’t mind how many times a customer calls to inquire about a product being in stock. Avoid this store. It’s plenty other stores whether better prices and customer service.

Khoi Nguyen: Great liquor store w a wide selection and really cheap alcohol and specials

BigMaMaSaiyan: This is the best liquor store in town. They have EVERYTHING and the price is always right. 💯

Gene Trigger: Great deals staffs is great v e ry friendly helpful

Mark Pietrzykoski: Nicest bunch of guys, they know their merchandise and are really helpful

Erick Santillán: Is a reliable source of alcohol at the 14th st

Jeff Sauri: Once a neighborhood institution, Barrel House lost a lot of character when it moved next door and lost its iconic barrel shaped door. At about half the size of the original, it doesn't quite have the same vast selection, but is still quite serviceable. It is inviting with friendly service. Also among the pluses are its late hours on Friday and Saturday nights, and Sunday hours.

Nathalie V: This is a great liquor store with amazing prices. Staff is always kind and easygoing. The prices for Tito’s here is on par with what I find at Costco!

Stephen Zepecki: Need to grab something quick for a last-minute party, go here.

Emma K: The folks who run this liquor store are some of the kindest people I’ve met. They really care about the community (I swear they remember everyone’s names and greet everyone who walks in like they're old friends). It’s pristinely maintained and pretty good collection of beers, liquors, and wines.

Kevin Jeter: Wine and beer is reasonably priced. Spirits are pricey, but they usually have a vodka and/or gin on sale. As long as you're not picky about your spirit. Good selection.

Rich: My credit card was fraudulently used here. I called the store and asked "Is there anyone there I can talk to regarding a possible credit card transaction dispute?" The employee who answered the phone said "No" and hung up. So, I've only shopped here fraudulently (apparently), but the customer service is less than ideal. Avoid at all costs.

Tyler McComas: Friendly staff and good selection of wines. More limited selection on beer.

Mark Stern: My neighborhood liquor store. A perfect corner shop with a surprisingly large collection of beer, wine, and spirits. The employees are so nice!

Michael Lai: I like this liquor store alot. Looks run down from the outside but well maintained inside. Has wine, spirits, and beers. Metered parking outside

Ruth Mogus: This is the best place to buy liquor. They are such nice proline and very welcoming to everyone. ❤️❤️❤️

Patrick Reardon: This is the friendliest neighborhood liquor store in town. Come in and say hello to the best guys to buy from

Borys Pierov: Nice liquor selection but not the best place to get a bottle of wine.

Jorge Alvarez: Just fine - pricey as any other liquor store in dc

Liz T: Awesome spot for liquor and beers and wines. Small shop but impressive selection of craft beers and really interesting wines. Decent prices and awesome staff.

DS.THOMPSON The Photographer & Artist: Great shop they have any and all liquor and beer your looking for..

Eric Stander: Nice liquor store. Vary large variety of drinks. Average prices
Response: Thank you so much! Your appreciation means a lot to us. Team Barmy Wines.

Ryan Conklin: Good location and hours for convenience, poor selection, prices, and service. Worth stopping by if other local options are closed

Joseph Althouse: Great selection of wines. Had exactly what I was looking for at a fair price. Very pleasant and polite.
Response: Thank you! 🙏 Team Barmy Wines

Michael Kieval: Great selection, friendly service, but the prices for many things are on the high side. If you are looking for a special bottle, however, you came to the right place.
Response: Thank you very much! Hope to earn 5th Star in your next visit 🙏 Team Barmy Wines PS: please email us which product you are referring please. Feedback is important for us.

Joseph Lira: Such a great store! Amazing and rare selections. The staff are knowledgable, very friendly and sincere.
Response: Thank you for your kind words!! Happy to have you at the store.. Team Barmy #BarmyWines

George Slye: Nice place to go visit to play my numbers on my way home from my appointment.Good location to buy wine's and beer....
Response: Thank you! 🙏 Team Barmy Wines

Ivan Frank: Wanted to like this place more but unfortunately the customer experience is lacking. Prices are highly marked up, 20-30%, especially for the basic liquors they know people want. "Due to covid" they no longer allow browsing even on July 2021 and don't know the prices of bottles when you start asking for specifics. Also don't try to ask for a "discount" [to get closer to normal prices] as you'll be mocked out of the store. If you have another option, I would take that instead. As a side note, they pay for advertising and we've had issues leaving reviews so take what you see online with a huge grain of salt.
Response: Hello, Grateful if you can please email us the specific product you are referring to. If there is an error we would like to rectify. Thank you and Kind regards Team Barmy

Just Me N mines: Ohhh this place has everything. Literally. One of my go to spots when I come back to DC.
Response: Thank you so much! You made our day! 🙏

Jaime D: They had what I needed. Love me some grapefruit SOJU.
Response: Thank you! 🙏 Team Barmy Wines

J B: I came in for a hard to find tequila that was sold out in 8 other stores (including Total Wine and More). I called ahead and received really pleasant service by phone and when I arrived at the store, the on-site friendliness and accommodating service was more than I could ask for. Most liquor stores don’t exactly strive to be leaders in customer service so you definitely notice the difference between stepping foot in one that could care less that you’re there and one that has an interest in you leaving as a happy customer. I’ll definitely be back.
Response: Thank you so very much for making our day! It’s patrons like you who take time to appreciate our team - that keeps us driving to do more. This year more than ever our team has not let the smile away from the face despite complete exhaustion of non-stop operations. Thank you, thank you for your kind words! Team Barmy

Eye Street Cellars - Fine Wine, Spirits, & Beer: what do users think?

Your Helpful Wendy: After so many days with Covid we finally were able to drink! And I went to the store right across the street so I can get some wines and spirits. They have a huge variety of wine and all type of spirit with OK prices not the best but they were OK. I end up buying a rosette for less than $10 and that’s a bargain honesty! Service was quick and I pay with my credit card super fast.

Marco Da Silva: I wanted to purchase 2 bottles of bourbon. I did my due diligence and checked their online inventory. It showed that the 2 bottles were in stock. I then placed the order only for the order to be cancelled. When I called the store I was informed that the bottles were being kept for their “loyal” customers. Why advertise the bottles as available if they are being kept for people. I have spent a significant amount of money at this store but will definitely will not be returning as they obviously have a different definition of customer service.

Ravelle Brickman: I like ordering online, but have been unable to find any of my favorite wines on this website. I hope the owners can expand or improve the site, since it is currently incomplete. In fact, it appears that many of the wines stocked at the stores are not even listed on the site!

notarzt911: Amazing selection of beer. Lots of fun imports. Will definitely be back.

Rachel Yount: Great customer service! This is definitely one of the nicer, cleaner, and safer liquor stores in the area. They are dog friendly and they always give my pup a treat. They also give a discount if you buy 6 bottles of wine. They have a large selection of wine and a good selection of craft beer (DC's not that big of a craft beer place). The prices are pretty decent for how expensive this area is.

Rachael Williams: I'm not a drinker but (out of sheer convenience) I was given the last minute task of finding a liquor store to grab a few items. Eye Street Cellars was a God send for two reasons - its hours and staff. The store opened at 11a (others nearby opened at 12p or later). I definitely wouldn't have been successful without the help of the staff. The two men were very patient given that I approached them several times for different reasons. They were very courteous - one of the men carried everything to the counter and THEN to my car (the "few items" turned out to be very bulky). I was given a great discount as well...I'm sure it had something to do with how much I bought (haha) but it was appreciated. I now have a go-to if I ever need to grab something for a last minute office function. P.S. This has nothing to do with the store but just an fyi, parking was a little tricky so be prepared to possibly not park on the same street.

Jana: The Eye Street Cellars is a beautiful store. They have a wonderful selection and a knowledgeable, friendly staff. The modern look of the store is inviting and their shelves are well organized. They have tasting event that give you a chance to try something new, try before you buy :) watch their website for those events.

Aishya Malhotra: I love this store! They have complimentary tastings every Fri & Sat and some on Thurs. I stopped in this past weekend for the tastings and they had a customer appreciation BBQ and gave me a cool straw hat!! Great selection and prices/deals!! Love Eye St Cellars.

Mike Blackmon: I wasn't interested in liquor or wine just the beer. While they had an okay selection and I was able to find a couple of things I will say I'm spoiled by my large retailers and very dedicated craft beer stores back home. I wasn't there to purchase 6 packs of something I didn't know I would like. I really was interested in the large bottle selections. Maybe difficult to find at the last minute search. Staff seemed friendly but I wasn't there to mingle. I give it 3 stars based on beer selection alone.

Devin M: Great selection of wine and spirits at reasonable/market prices. The staff is friendly and helpful and if you have a specific wine that they do not carry they likely will order it for you.

Daily 14 Liquors: what do users think?

Brandon Harrison: J’s store is awesome! I’m always greeted with a smile and it’s typically a pleasant experience each time i stop by. Plus, Daily 14 carries some of the best hard to get wine and spirits in the city!

ELP: Live well outside of DC and was looking for something very specific. Inquired about price and whoever answered the phone refused, stating, “No price over phone.” Why would I drive all that way there having no idea how much something is going to cost. It’s called sales for a reason, you want to actually sell liquor right? Called the next store on the list, was given a price and the very nice woman even set aside the bottle for us. That would be customer service, not whatever your doing!

Griffin Baltz: We were staying at the Kimpton Donovan next door and read some good reviews about this place’s whiskey selection. We swung by to check it out and they actually had Buffalo Trace, which has been impossible to find around Maryland! I’d have given five stars for that alone, but the cashier was also very nice.

孙文佳: The service is wonderful and I ask many questions. The owner is so kind! They have all kinds of liquor even some rare ones. I brought a Japanese whiskey for my dad for his birthday. Great experience!

Indonesian Goddess: New to the area and conveniently found Daily 14 Liquor. The owner is friendly, store is well organized, and not to mention their very rare and special selections. This place is definitely worth a visit.

Gary Moore: It is a great store and the owner is the best. I was driving all over Maryland, West Virginia, and Virginia looking for rare bourbons. I went to this store and found EVERYTHING I wanted and they have them for decent prices. I HIGHLY recommend this store to everyone!!

Brian Sanchez: Awesome management. Very friendly and serviceable. One of the most extensive whiskey selections in the downtown/14th st area. I saw a bottle of the Black Maple Hill Bourbon and Rye! Those bottles are of legendary status in the whiskey world. Great wine selection from multiple areas of the wine world. Best of luck to Daily 14 and please keep up the great service!

Peter Warner: Excellent selection of whiskies. I was surprised to see and pick up two unique bottles. One a Weller 12 yr and one a Weller Full Proof that recently was released. Friendly owner and very helpful.

MATT ZEPP: Great store in DC! Large selection of collector bourbon, scotches, and whiskeys. Friendly service and fair prices. Will definitely come back and keep shopping here.

James Fussell: Found this store after checking into my hotel. Went in to grab a 12 pack of beer. And ran into their Bourbon collection! Wow! He has everything and I mean everything. Everything you cannot find: Blanton's, Van Winkle. Walked out with two bottles of Bourbon. Then returned the next day to grab another bottle I have been looking for for years.

District Liquors: what do users think?

Sam and Steph: We purchased liquor for our wedding at District Liquors and had a very positive experience. The staff was very accommodating and professional, the selection was very good, and prices were competitive.

Eric Gorman: Don't cater to black people far wise as having natty daddy beer and other things that black people drink. Not drinking the other weak beer they sell. Only thing i can get outta there is E&J.

Sam OB: The best price in town. Sean is also a good owners and dedicated staff.

Matthew Ryan: This store was recommended to me as a must-stop during my visit to the area and I have to say this store blew me away. The bourbon selection was incredible and the prices were even better. I had previously heard that DC liquor stores jack up the prices but that is not the case in this store. I picked up several bottles that I can’t find in North Carolina, all at MSRP. I will definitely be a customer here on all future visits to DC.

Chad Erickson: Surprisingly reasonable pricing and a good selection of wines.

Joe Dean: Fantastic prices!!! Very polite staff and by far the best pricing I’ve found in DC!!! Highly, highly recommend stopping by this place!! Especially if you’re looking for a wide selection of bourbon!!!

Nadine LeGrand: My favorite Liquor store to go to on 11th Street NW. Sean the owner friendly who always acknowledges his customers give a variety of beer, wine, liquor specials by far on the NW side.

Mark Smith: Good people there and they carry what you ask for.

Ilsy Marilyn: The owner is so awesome!!!!!! The services and friendliness is appreciated. Thank you for being there and providing a safe environment for DC residents. There are so many liquor shops in the district as we all know. But is nice to know that some business owners, despite the business they offer, they take pride in becoming friends and good neighbors to the city.

C A: I live close to a few liquor stores but this is my favorite. Great prices, selection and service. They are knowledgeable as well if you need help with wine selection or pairing.
