Kate Couturier: I got great lengths hair extensions at INARI. I absolutely LOVE the extensions and had the best experience with Santos. I have extremely thin hair and had some not great experiences with tape-ins previously, so I was a bit nervous, but really wanted longer, thicker hair for my wedding. Santos was very knowledgeable and helpful in making the right choices for my hair type and really took his time putting them in to make sure they were perfect. He went above and beyond to get the most length and fullness possible. I couldn’t believe how perfect the color matched my hair, how long we were able to go, and how natural they look! I have never loved my hair so much, and it was exactly what I wanted for my wedding, which never would have been possible without the extensions! They have also lasted a very long time. Overall, INARI is one of the nicest salons I’ve been to, and Santos was so fun to work with and did an amazing job! Service: Hair extensions

Shaila Huq: Eva is a master of her craft and a really bubbly, fun personality. I’ve been feeling really self conscious as my short hair grew out, and as soon as I saw the color match in my consultation, I knew I was going to enjoy the end results. It is a luxury experience, so know going into your consultation that you’re paying an appropriate price for a quality product and expert service. These extensions are the Great Lengths type, so minimal damage and a 5-6 month wear time with proper care. After 48 of keeping it dry, you can treat it and style it like it’s your own hair! The one note as someone who’s never had any type of extensions in is that it’s weird to get used to feeling the bond areas while sleeping, but I’m sure I’ll get used to it ☺️ Services: Hair extensions , Hairstyling

Judith Garcia: I was visiting Washington DC from Boston and needed a self-care day --- this was the perfect place! I got a manicure, pedicure, and holistic facial. I highly recommend especially if you are looking for a classy and serene atmosphere. They have a high quality nail color selection so it made hard to choose one color! The facial was very comprehensive and great products for sensitive skin. If you're a tourist or business woman in DC seeking to relax this is the perfect place. Thank me later! Julie Thomasian: For the longest time in DC, I was looking for a hair stylist that I could count on for any occasion. I'm lucky that I finally met Santos and I can confidently say that he is the best! Nicole Jefferson: I love this place! Everyone was super helpful and talented. Eva gave me the best keratin treatment of all time. She was patient, careful, and absolutely lovely. Josi Giovinazzo: Emily was my stylist and did an amazing job. I wanted to add more volume and length to my fine hair. My hair tends to break so I just cut it and haven’t had length in a long time. She used an ultrasonic machine to bond the keratin bonds in the gentlest way as it doesn’t provide so much heat. I’m a runner and in dental school so I put my hair up a lot, so she strategically placed the extensions to not show in a pony tail! On top of the excellent care, the extensions they get are ethically sourced from Great Lengths. The proceeds go to the local Indian group that provides the hair and they donate to local charities. Bravo Ho: Santos is a master when it comes to long hair. 100% recommend especially if you have long thick/textured hair and are paranoid going to folks who can’t handle it/have little experience. He’s clearly got a ton of experience and actually enjoys working with long hair! Couldn’t believe how fast yet precise he works.Service: Haircut

cq ny: Great experience with Israel and Eva for haircuts and layering long hair. Blanca delivers the best scalp massage at the shampoo and conditioner station. Recommend having some cash ready for tips for the very few employees that may not have Venmo. Worth a visit.

Paula Rainer: I receive outstanding service always! My hair is healthier, stronger, and longer than when I started coming about a year ago. I commute one hour to get to the salon because I believe in supporting exemplary service and stylists. Especially during this time we need to support professionals who uplift our wellbeing at a high level with their services.

LOVStudios: You can get any hairstyle your heart or imagination desires. I've only visited the first floor. You can get a detailed consultation and truly understand all of the elements that go into your hair. I've seen a large majority of non-chemically treated services which I genuinely appreciate when a stylist doesn't push or pressure women into trying to fit a false status quo. I've never been a fan of going to the hairdresser because it takes too damn long and A-Lyst is no different. However, Bey is an excellent conversationalist and the music is good-so it makes a huge difference. Bring cash. Book on Style Seat. Walk-ins welcome.

Maya: For my hair, I get serviced by Antoine (the hair stylist that currently works near the front door). I've been going to him since I've been in high school and he's the only hair stylist that has ever done my hair. He's a great stylist and gets me. He is all about hair integrity and quality hair styling. My hair feels and looks good EVERY TIME I leave his chair. I truly wish I could put him in my pocket. Antoine is also very skilled in hair color and cuts. He's done some really cute color and cuts on my hair and I've also observed him color and cut other customers hair too. Also I received the best hair wash of my life by Nae. (Nae braided my hair once and this is why I was able to experience her skills.) If you get your hair done by Bey (if possible) let him know you would like a wash and hair/scalp massage by Nae. Nae is very focused, mindful and intentional with her hands. She will wash your hair according to your preference. Kindly let her know before she starts washing your hair whether or not you prefer light hands or heavy hands. She will adjust. She truly has a gift. When she started massaging my scalp, it put me in immediate zen mode. Also, when Nae blowdries your hair, she maintains that same mindfulness. I once heard her tell someone that she treats people's hair and scalp the way she wants her hair and scalp treated. I really appreciate that. Nae also does eye lash extensions and she's one of the only people that I will go to for this service. I prefer the natural lash look and Nae is the master of it. Her lash application area is set up in the rear of the salon and their is also a curtain that she closes (that separates the lash application area from the rest of the salon) for privacy. I have a tendency to blink a lot when I am getting lashes applied and Nae was so understanding and accommodating. She even turned on some meditative music for me so that I could relax or go to sleep. Her lash application price point matches her quality of work. I've never been serviced and styled by Bey, but I observe his work on other customers and he is very talented and very popular.

Erica Payne-Santiago: Leslie Dixon has been my hair stylist for over 10 years for me and my daughter. My daughter's hair is all natural and I am relaxed. Her precision cuts and custom made hair color is everything. The compliments we get consistently is all for my stylist. Thanks Leslie for your professionalism, hair care, and styles. So sad that there aren't too many of you left for African American women that rock their real hair.

Alexis Obodo: Very unprofessional! My appointment was at 1:30 and I came in at 1:25. I came and waited patiently only to find out the Fairy Hairmother was EATING at a restaurant three blocks away. Talk about unprofessional and GHETTO! She told me she didn't know I had an appointment because she deleted it off of the Styleseat website. Like who does that ?! She was very rude and unapologetic when she walked in. I told her to start on my mothers hair in which she did a HORRIBLE job! I ended up leaving before she finished my mothers hair because she wasn't going to start my hair and I had somewhere to be. When I finally saw my mother's hair looked a hot frizzy mess when she came home because the idiot put a plastic shower cap on her hair and it was rainy and humid outside. She also OVERCHARGED her and I feel like she did that because I wasn't there and because she was being petty towards me. I would never recommend anyone to go to this salon!!!!

Ronnae Kemper: Definitely an all in one shop! They offer lashes, waxing and hair ! Very calming ambiance. Great conversation! All the time. The shampoo is to dieeeee for! Definitely my go to.

Stephanie Osborne: This was my first visit to this salon and was very impressed. The salon was clean and very posh. I was able to set my appointment online with ease. I came in for a fill-in and was very indecisive with my color. The nail technician's name is Pink and she is remarkable she made a suggestion and showed me pictures of her past work. She made me feel comfortable and I trusted her to work her magic. I will always request her in the future. I already told my coworkers about her.

Sarah Norton: I come here frequently and have held off on leaving a review until now. There have been some issues in the past, but I have tried to be understanding and forgiving. I made an appointment weeks ago for a fill today with Pink. I come in today on time for my appointment and am told Pink is not here, and can I wait for Tony to do my nails? I agree thinking it will be a cpl of minutes, and I go to the bathroom. While in the bathroom I’m called by Jenny, the business owner, and told it will be 30+ minutes until Tony arrives. Honestly, I should have left then. When I came out of the bathroom, Tiffany offered to take off my acrylic in order to get things started until Tony arrives. While doing this, another customer arrived for her noon appointment with Jenny who is also not here. So now Pink, Tony, and Jenny are not here. Tiffany asked the customer to wait 40 minutes, then Jenny called and spoke to this customer as well. At this point, the polish has been filed off of 4 of my nails. A walk in comes in to have her nails done and Tiffany leaves me to do this woman’s nails. I don’t begrudge this other customer having her nails done, but really?? The person I’m booked with isn’t here. The business owner isn’t here. Tiffany gets me started, then leaves me minutes into the process to take care of someone else. Since I am waiting 30+ minutes for my appointment to start (even though I booked ahead and was on time) then why couldn’t this walk in customer have waited for a few minutes until at the very least, all 10 of my nails had been filed, instead of just 4?? I can’t very well leave now with 4 nails filed, even though I am thoroughly frustrated. When I expressed this frustration, Tiffany was very defensive saying that I had agreed to wait. And she’s right, I did agree to wait because she was at least getting me started. But now she’s not even helping me. I am one of two customers who made an appointment at noon that is not being seen on time, and not because the salon is running late, but because the employees aren’t even present. What is the point of making an appointment at all if this is the result? Apparently, Pink no longer works here. Jenny should have gone through Pink’s appointment calendar and made arrangements for her customers instead of waiting until I was at the salon to call me. It’s just so disrespectful of her customers time and shows a lack of planning and leadership. Very disheartening. I’m sad to even be writing this because I like this salon a lot, it’s very clean and relaxing and I’m always happy with my service (except the one time I had Tiffany do my nails; big mistake), but this is just no way to do business. I don’t want to leave this place because as I said, there’s a lot to like here and Jenny and Tony are very sweet people. I guess I’ll just have to wait and see what happens when they get here. Update! It’s several hours later. Jenny and Tony arrived roughly 25 minutes after my appointment time. They were very kind and gracious, I said they’re sweet people! Tony took a lot of time on my service and made sure I was happy. He then took a percentage off of the price. Jenny also reached out this afternoon after I got home and apologized again. I’ll stay with this salon for now, as I said it’s very clean and relaxing. Just know that when going to this salon, you’ll be happy with your nails, but appointment times may or may not be adhered to. Service: Acrylic nails

Alia Mull: Anna was sooooo nice and fast! Very professional. She did a real cute design and wanted to perfect it to make sure i was pleased. The place was spotless and modern/fancy. Everyone was friendly and spoke, it was welcoming. And the price wasn’t too expensive it was reasonable. I’m definitely going back! And I’m so picky it’s rare i say that. Ask for Anna! Poojita Sharan: I came in pretty late in the day but Jade was very patient and did not rush me at all. She was thorough and even did some areas for free since I had never removed hair in those places. She was such a treat to talk to and the whole experience was very pleasant! Not to mention, the waxing didn’t hurt as much as it does because she uses a different type of wax based on the part of the body!

The services are painless, comfortable, clean, and she is meticulous about everything. If I could give 100 stars, I would! Since Jenny has updated her space, I wanted to update my review! I went for a wax and it was still perfect but now she is offering nail services! I got a basic pedicure and a dip manicure and both turned out perfectly. Cindy was the nail tech I worked with and she was so friendly, made sure everything was perfect, and helped me pick colors based off of a design I showed her! Have had the pleasure of working with more of the nail techs and have not had one bad experience. 10 out of 10!

April Wintle: I called for a last minute facial and blow dry and they fit me in immediately. I had the BEST express facial I've ever had(and I've had many) by Susan. My skin was glowing and healthy. She gave a massage while the mask sat which I totally appreciate. Best neck and facial massage ever! Then I had a blow out by a newer member of the team but he is a master technician and so happy and nice and I just totally felt like a hundred bucks when I left there. When I am in town I will Def come back!

Christina Park: Jacob cut my hair and he did an awesome job! I had one request (to move from a side part to a middle part) and left the rest up to him - he walked me through why he thought I should have layers in front but not in the back based on my hair type and that sounded good to me.. Cristal Davila: I had such a great experience at Celadon. Everyone I interacted with was wonderful. I saw Jacqueline for a facial treatment. My skin was badly broken out, with patches of intractable acne mixed with patches of painfully dry skin. She was calming, kind, and after seeing her my skin immediately looked better. Within days after the treatment my skin was looking better than it has since Covid started. The same day I had a haircut from Freddy. He told me his plan was to give me a good basic cut that would look good either styled OR wash-and-wear, and he did just that. I'm back at work today after my visit home and the first thing a co-worker said to me is "your hair looks good!" Both Jacqueline and Freddy exemplify the exact balance you want in any professional you're working with- amazing at their jobs AND delightfully kind and funny. That combo is pure gold. I adore Jacqueline and Freddy and they're officially by DC go-to for beauty treatments. Celadon is doing something right with their staffing, because everyone was wonderful. The ladies at the front desk were so sweet. Arminda, who washed my hair, exuded a sense of calm. It took me back to the feeling of being a kid and having your mom wash your hair. Love love love. Susan Toalson: I called on a whim desperately seeking a hair blow out. Celadon was very accommodating and fit me in within 10 minutes. Christophe did my blow out. He was a gem! Best blow out EVER!! I wish I lived in town, I would be become a regular of Christophe’s in a heartbeat. Instead, whenever I’m back in town, Celadon is where I will go. Thank you, Christophe and Celadon!

Carolina Moreno: Very bad experience!!! I want to express my dissatisfaction with the service I received at Celadon in February. I made an appointment for a keratin hair treatment. The day I called to make my appointment, I asked for a Spanish-speaking stylist to guide me through the process (my English is not very good). Unfortunately, while the person who treated my hair spoke Spanish, he didn't interact with me at all. I wanted good communication with him so that I could understand the product and the procedure, but he was not communicative. If I had been better informed, I might have decided not to continue the treatment. For the price I paid ($400), I expected better results. The product used was not of as good quality as in other places where I previously did my keratin treatments. (Pure Brazilian, for example, is a wonderful product). The next morning my hair was wavy and the ends were horrible. Instead of being soft, it was rough and frizzy. Today, a month and a half after this bad moment, my hair looks as if I had not done any treatment recently. I repeat: this was not the result of my previous keratin treatments. I was bitter and dissatisfied because I expected a much better result for the price I paid. I contacted Celadon informing them of my dissatisfaction. I expected them to offer some way to make amends, but they did not. If it were my business, I would try to find a way to satisfy my customers. It speaks volumes for the business that did not make any effort to do so. I do not recommend Celadon at all, I think they think more about money than the quality and satisfaction of their customers. *************** As a follow-up to my previous message, I want to thank Celadon for their quick and favorable response, as they returned half the cost of the keratin treatment. After my facial I had a hair cut and blow out by Nicole. As a visitor this week to DC I was a little nervous having my hair cut by someone new, and I absolutely love the cut! I just showed her a picture and I could not be happier! Thank you thank you! I would totally recommend a visit to this spa, you won't be disappointed.

Lili Kazemi: If you want first class service, come here. Jeremy is like a surgeon — and he operated on my hot orange roots that were beyond despair. But now I get nothing but compliments. Everyone who works here takes such pride in their craft and gives you their undivided attention. And Markell is an amazing stylist. He ordered me a rocking set of extensions as I grow out my start over cut which he did and looks great even without them. The front desk is extremely professional and the location is prime for downtown working professionals. I would recommend coming here if you want quality over just getting in and out. Anushka Mirza: This was the best haircut I’ve ever had. Markell was my stylist he was very sweet & so kind throughout my entire experience. His attention to detail was amazing. He checked every angle to make sure my hair looked good no matter how it fell & made sure to frame my face flawlessly. A couple hours after my appointment I decided I wanted to add bangs & the salon was prompt to schedule a 15 min slot later in the afternoon. Markell welcomed me back & double checked what I had decided I wanted. After making sure we were both on the same page, he worked some more of his magic. He then took a few extra minutes to give my hair some gorgeous waves for a lunch I was going to after.

Sarah Esseesy: Peter was very knowledgeable and did my hair color wonderfully and evenly. Kettera did a miracle on fixing my hair and on keeping my hair long while still taking off the dead ends. They both did an incredible job, but the one who really stood out to me was Mariana. She was very very personable and easy to talk to. I wanted to give her a big tip, but the machine was having trouble reading my card. She took so much time to give me an incredible blowout and make sure my hair color came out even and vibrant. Leena T Silberer: Hair cut was average, thinned my thick hair so much that it looked thin and limp. I don’t have difficult hair to cut, he was chatting and used the thinning shears for about 20 minutes. Tried to book again with another stylist and they only had one other entry level available. The only person with more experience is the salon owner ‘by request’ which makes no sense, when I requested, the receptionist said ‘they don’t take new clients’. So, unfortunately I’ll have to take my business elsewhere.

Josephine Tucker: Terrible experience - I booked a partial highlight to get my roots retouched and walked out $350 and 3 hours later with pretty much the same hair. I expected to pay $200-$250 max, but had no idea all the ‘hybrid’ methods and ‘necessary treatments’ were stacking the bill beyond reason. I have extremely thin, mid length hair and this is the most I have ever paid to be so disappointed. I sent an email to management explaining my dissatisfaction and they did nothing. I don’t normally leave public reviews but in this case I feel compelled- especially for those who’ve been social distancing and looking forward to seeing a hairdresser after all these months. Don’t waste your money here.

Lynn Frasier: This us your next stop and when you get there you won't turn back! Kim does a great job in getting her customers together. You're usually out in about 1 to 1 1/2 hours which is unheard of especially for people with thick hair, shoulder length or more. I'm the one that other salons have wait because they can get the people with the short or thin hair done or leave for the male hairdressers. Say goodbye to the all day hair salon experience. And then the prices are really reasonable. Check it out!

Jessica Weiss: Where to even start... I made my appointment weeks in advance because they said they were booked. No problem, I described to them in an email and over the phone exactly what I wanted. I get to the salon show Jen several photos of a peachy rose gold color. She said she didn't have enough time to do what I wanted but could get close. No problem, totally understandable. In the middle of processing my hair color they come to me to tell me that there was a mistake in my appointment and they didn't have time to finish my apt. I'm talking my hair was wet in the bowl processing.... Told me I booked the apt wrong. They then go to explain that I had requested a fantasy color and that is why I didn't have time for my apt to finish. Typically there is a consult before they can do that. Funny because the color of my hair is now that of cardboard. I didn't realize that the color of cardboard was a fantasy color. I came in with a grown out bleach out. My roots needed touching up which Jen, the owner said she didn't have time to do. Totally understandable. What should have happened is they should have told me from the start they didn't have time. Instead they wasted my time and my money. I'm obviously not happy with the color and what happened. I called and they said that I could come in and get a tweak in the next two weeks and they don't issue refunds. I work everyday in the next two weeks and can't take time off. I can't even get a call back from the owner to discuss options. At this point I don't even trust them to touch my hair. for $500 I expect a color close to the color I wanted and not cardboard. I now have to go to another salon to do damage control and that is gonna cost me another $600 to color correct and bleach out the dark color they put in my hair. Not only that the damage to my hair for this amount of processing is not good. I'm very disappointed in my experience and the response from the owners and staff. If you want basic brown colors this is your salon!!! Otherwise look elsewhere. Also make sure what you really want what they give you because they will refuse to work with you to fix it. I started seeing her sister Liana for a cut at the new salon and am very happy with her care and attention. Cut is looking great. With the crazy climate that we are in, I have felt extremely safe and comfortable at this salon. Alex Russell: Liana has been cutting my hair for over a decade, and I was beyond thrilled to see her open her own salon with her sister. She’s extremely talented and I wouldn’t trust anyone else with my hair (even on my wedding day!). The salon is gorgeous, but most importantly, clean and safe - Liana takes COVID safety precautions seriously and you can see this in the salon from the minute you enter. There are temperature checks upon arrival, everything is sanitized between clients and masks are obviously mandatory. Everyone is more than 6 feet apart and there’s no crowding. Eileen Elliott: Jen and Liana, the owners of Aurora Salon have been cutting and coloring my hair for over 12 years. I was ecstatic for them when they opened Aurora in the summer of 2020. I am very particular about my hair. My hair texture is coarse and thick and I've been fighting the grey hair growth since I was in my late twenties. Even though I've been a client of Jen and Liana's for some time they always ask and listen to my hair needs at the start of every appointment. This is very important as many stylists have a tendency to feel that they know best and not listen to there clients input or needs. Jens coloring skills are unmatched. As I mentioned I have super thick hair and unruly grays which require maintenance every 5 to 7 weeks. Jen is very thorough and creates a bright blonde look for me. Even over time, the color never appears to become brassy. Jen is a hair magician. My hair never feels dry or over processed. Liana always gives me the haircut that I ask for. She is excellent with taking the weight from my hair and giving me my current look of a blunt bob. Although we have had several haircuts through the years including a beautiful pixie cut. I will tell you that during the height of the pandemic in 2020 I didn't have my hair cut for 6 months. But you would never be able to tell because Liana's work lasts. She also gives me an amazing blow out and creates a super smooth, straight look for me. The COVID cleaning precautions at the salon are very thorough. There is continuous cleaning, temperature checks, social distancing and they even hand you a disinfecting wipe for your phone when you enter the salon. I pay attention since I work in a hospital. Nadia Amin: I had a great experience at this salon! When scheduling my appointment, Amy took great care to ask me questions that would match me with the right hairstylist. They started on right away when I arrived, and I was in and out of there in an hour. It is now 5 days later and my hair is still bouncy and has not frizzed. No hairstyle has ever held this long! Kisa Fatima: I was really disappointed with the curly cut I received here. I went in August 2021 and I waited to write a review so I could compare it with other salons that offer curly cut services. I spent over $140+ and I left the salon with wet hair. I felt like the stylist didn't bother styling well. All that my hair was, was moisturized. Also the stylist made me believe I was losing hair (which was not the case, I hadn't washed it in awhile so the shedding had built up due to not detangling). Overall, I would not come back to this salon if you have curly hair. Again, super disappointed for a salon that has stellar reviews. Service: Haircut

Jessica Long: Went there for the first time today. I got a Dry remedy moisture treatment as well as a trim, which was long overdue! Suzana did my wash, set me up for the hydration/moisturizer treatment, and blew dry my hair. She was very gentle and communicative throughout the process. Asmi did my cut, which was perfect—taking care of all the split ends. My appointment was at 8 am. I got into the shop a couple minutes before 8 and was in the chair being taken care of by 8 am. They worked together to keep me moving through the process and I was out of there in an hour and 15 minutes or so. They were very efficient and on top of the flow. The shop was bright and well designed. The bathroom was also nice and well maintained. They had a rack for coat hanging. The payment process was super easy and you are able to tip your hairdresser and the supportive staff separately and directly via Venmo or CashApp. There is on street parking with a 2 hour limit. It can be hard to find parking in that area sometimes, but I found parking quick and easy. They open at 7 am, which is good for people who need to get going with the rest of their day. They require masks and take temperatures on the way into the salon. I like this since COVID is still affecting folk. Overall, great experience! I can’t wait to go back for my next treatment and I think I’ll get the twists next time!

Cheryl Wilson: Update May2022, since my service my hair continues to break and is super dry. I have to cut all of my hair. Be careful of the products if your hair appears dry and fine like mines, they may use too strong of a relaxer/products. In any case it is super painful to pay $300 just to shave your head months later due to severe breakage. I recently returned to DC and visited the salon after many years of being away. I had an appt with a stylist but after I arrived she decided to change me to another stylist because I had in cornrows- I had crochet braids. That in itself was okay , however I could see that "the owner" was quite upset and was giving a stern talk to the stylist she assigned me to... I was escorted upstairs and given a talk and the price tag of $300. Embarrassed, I said okay, the salon was expensive in the past and I wanted a color, treatment, and relaxer....What was most surprising at the end was I was charged $90 for a women's cut to clip my ends which I think was really punitive because I came in with cornrows which by the way I removed instead of paying $50 for removal....I wrote to the salon and asked about the charge but got no response. I was not even offered something to drink. While I don't mind paying a premium for services and go out of my to support black business, I don't like to feel shunned. I doubt I will return to this salon.

Monée: I started coming to this salon in August 2020. I stumbled upon them searching online for a salon that does good natural hair. When reading the reviews Galya was nicely spoken of and there was a picture of her work. I made an appointment and 8 months later I have been regularly seeing her! I no longer have my picture :( of when she first touched my hair ... but leading up to today I can assure you Galya is a sweet person and has been a God send. My hair was initially damaged and stopped at the top of my shoulders. In the lower back near my neck a portion of that hair was shorter than the rest. It would shed endlessly and was very brittle. To date, my hair has gradually come back to life. The length is several inches longer, minimal shedding, not brittle and no area is struggling to keep up with the other. The products used on my hair are a contributing factor in my happiness however, Galya has been nothing but consistent with her routine/technique and never fails to deliver the best service from washing to styling! Not to mention, each time I come to this salon it is impeccably clean, welcoming, organized, professional and makes you feel safe. All of the staff are very friendly and helpful on the phone and in person. I like perfect but NOTHING that’s real is perfect. That said, I’m praying I can continue to enjoy and appreciate my regular visits here however, if I make a mistake on my job and want forgiveness then I am willing to understand within reason if this salon makes a mistake- as long as it’s not blatant or frequent. I highly recommend this place because even though your hair is the main goal, it’s not often you can find a spot with numerous benefits in one!

This was only my second salon experience in my life and she was very professional, answered all my questions, and addressed any concerns I had. Not only did all of this happen to me but I paid way much more than what she originally told me I had to pay. Ivonne R: Come here to get my facials done with my dear Leidy. She has a nice set up (basement area) and she is the very best. Always taking her time, making sure you are comfortable, hydrated and even playing music of your choice. I had a chemical peeling done with her and she kept checking up through the whole process, there and even when I got home. Definitely making her my guru when it comes to improve my skin conditions. Thumbs-up for her!!!

Carmen Jones: I love that she has reasonable prices and she isn't like other salons that want to penalize you for having longer hair. You can tell she also enjoys what she does in beautifying you. She also runs a blow out specials on Tuesdays I think for $25 but best to call. I have been going to Eva for over a decade. She has great knowledge with natural hair. I wanted to chop off all my hair because in between seeing her I would put excessive amounts of heat on my hair thus causing heat damage. She helped me mitigate getting my curls back without cutting it off. Additionally she works well with fine hair. My son has extremely fine hair and she is able to cut and style his hair as well. I drive from Woodbridge to DC just to get my hair done and I won't go anywhere else. You won't be disappointed.

Kellyse Hood: I went into the salon, which is NEVER by appointment only. I have been, twice, in the past two months and never by appointment. The woman in the salon didn’t even acknowledge me upon my arrival. As a Black woman, that was already disheartening. Paired with my mask and washed hands, I proceeded to wait for a wash and set. The woman who was working in the salon acknowledges me. I speak back and proceed to explain that I just want a wash and blow dry. This is where it started getting weird. She literally says the salon is by appointment only. I recognize her and explain that this has never been the policy, even in quarantine. I look around and realize: I am the only Black woman in the salon. She says she has three people, I explain I am willing to wait. She then says it’ll take three hours, I say I’ll come back at noon. She then says she has a customer at that time coming in. I finally ask, “do you just not want to take me?” Exasperated and out of excuses, she essentially says she doesn’t want to service me. Black women: please avoid this salon at all times. Our lives and money isn’t valued here. Service: Hairstyling

lanaya Bankins: DO NOT GO HERE!!!!! They WILL STEAL your money. I went in for a wash and set for $25 and multiple visits I had to tell them to give me the correct change and every time they hesitated. One time she tried to get smart and say well “ you have natural hair so I charge you $15 more” If that was the case I would’ve like to be told that before you swipe my card. Then when I tried to talk to the owner (Margot) she completely dismissed me and just said just go talk to her being very disrespectful. This place deserves zero stars for stealing and I wouldn’t recommend NO ONE to go here .

Samantha Shields: If you are natural, it is about $15 extra for the $25 wash and set specials. Other than that, they are really good at straighting the roots of your hair. Makes my hair feel nice and bouncy.

They do not know how to do black womens hair my hair was so poofy when I left didn’t even look like I went to a salon. The older Spanish lady is very lazy she had her 12 yr old daughter washing and drying my hair then the older woman went thru my hair with the flat iron and had her daughter flat ironing my hair also!! When they was finished my hair was far from straight and the woman told me I should have got a relaxer cuz my hair is so thick and that’s why it not get straight. Which is bs because other Dominican salons get my hair bone straight! Such a disappointment will never go back not even worth the $25 bucks will definitely stick to my Dominican stylist for $65 because with Margot you pay for what you get!!

Sam Iam: Don't waste your time or money going here. I barely write reviews but this deserved an exception. They fried my hair!!! What stylist doesn't know you need to deep condition if you are going to do a blowout and what professional would say they don't know why it wasnt done then ask to redo my hair when it's already dry!! Like I have time to waste. With that and the NASTY brushes with others people's hair tangled up inside that they have the audacity to use in people's hair, this place was a disappointment and they're rude!! Fyi, dont assume your customers dont speak Spanish and dont talk about them while they are sitting in your chair!!

Sarah Rawlins: I get my hair cut here regularly. It usually takes 3+ hours for a cut and blow out (but I do have really long hair). Quality is usually good (sometimes decent, sometimes excellent) and the instructors are attentive to what's happening. I've never had a bad cut but I did have a student break a lot of my hair by brushing it really rough once. As long as you can give a clear description of what look you want and you're really comfortable speaking up if there's an issue, this is a great option for a nice cut at a budget price.

S B: The two black males at the front desk act like females on their menstrual cycle - they had very nasty attitudes, so if you don't want to deal with that, then don't bother. The 30-minute facial was AMAZING, so I highly recommend it. The manicure and pedicure were beyond HORRIBLE... polish on all cuticles, no cleaning work done on cuticles, lazy two swipe scrub, and more issues! Even my 5 year-old niece could do better! While I understand that the students are unlicensed, not polishing cuticles is basic knowledge and shouldn't be done. No real supervision of students' work was done and when I asked for correction, there was attitude as if I did something wrong. SMH. Essentially, the manicure and pedicure were just incredibly long, poor polish jobs.

Caitlin Rogalski: Myesha and the whole team on the spa side of the house are amazing. The Beyond Botox and hydrafacial are life changing and so well priced. I laughed and took a few years off. Highly recommend! Not a better deal in DC.

Marcellus Smith: Im writing this review for my friend who wanted to stay announced, I was a client this evening and I’m appalled . Two clients came in with special needs one appeared to be deef and I believe blind. I over heard that she was getting her hair done for her birthday. How special. I witnessed the students but mainly the staff laughing and making jokes about them. The nice young lady who styled her hair was the only one that treated this young lady with dignity and the respect that she deserved. The helper that came with the client (not making assumptions )appeared to be apart of the LGBQ community. I witnessed staff talk negatively about him/her as he/she got up with his walking cane to use the restroom. This is the most unprofessional environment I have ever been. I will be reporting this to the media. I do not recommend anyone to receive services at this school. I will tell everyone I know to avoid this hair school especially those with special needs. I’m so sad.
Response: As a business we generally do not respond to reviews we find it a losing battle to have to address online forums where anyone is allowed to write, and post, anything they would like about a business. That someone can fabricate situations, twist them to fit the narrative they are trying to push seems like a giant waste of time to us. A perfect example of what we are speaking of here is your "review" below. First, we had no clients scheduled in our building yesterday evening before 6:00pm. The client you are speaking of in your review left our Academy around 4:30pm. Even if the events you "witnessed" did actually happen there would be no way you could have experienced this if you were a client in the evening. Secondly, we are an LGBTQ+ owned business who has many staff members AND students who identify in all sorts of ways. We pride ourselves on being an inclusive space that welcomes, and celebrates EVERYONE for exactly who they are. We have worked with SMYAL for one of our student events and we have welcomed any guest through our doors for nearly 5 years regardless of how they identify as an individual, or their sexual orientation. Third, we do agree that this guest celebrating their birthday was special. Which is why this guest was given a $20 discount on their service! Lastly, I was on the clinic floor for most of the guests appointment that you seem to have concerns about. What was discussed amongst staff were two things: 1) did the guest show up for the consultation appointment we booked for them on Friday to decide what type of style they would be receiving and 2) just how amazing of a job our STUDENT was doing on this service. In a world filled with so much negativity please try and refrain from creating more of it needlessly. Nobody in our building was talking about this, or any other, guest as you described. If you have any additional questions, please feel free to call the academy and ask to speak to the owner and we would be happy to discuss them with you.

T Stiverson: I loved being in this space. Everyone was professional and thorough, especially Diana and instructor Camden. Diana was easy to talk to and connect with, and she really took the time to make sure my hair was cut and styled in the way I wanted it to be. I opted out of blow drying and she braided my hair instead. The braiding may seem to be a minuscule detail, but it made a big difference on my final look and feel walking out of the salon. Jess: I went here to get my hair done for a friends wedding and it came out wonderfully. Because it turned out so great for such a great price I agreed to have my hair done again for another friends wedding today. The woman I had seen had scheduled me for today at 2:30 PM. Initially for my first appointment I had received a confirmation call and when I realized I hadn’t received a confirmation call for this second appointment I tried to call the Academy about seven different times today. No one picked up so I ended up driving over and of course the entire salon was closed and I was not able to get my hair done despite being told that I was scheduled for this date at this time in person when I had lost come in. Very annoyed.

She always does an amazing job and she has a great personality! We talk about anything and everything which makes the time go by fast. I also love the salon and the instructors are also great. :)

Jessica Anderson: I wish I actually COULD rate but I made an appointment a few days in advance. I confirmed by text and email multiple times and then 15 mins before my appointment they called to cancel my appointment saying they didn’t have enough students. I don’t live in DC so I was already 5mins away. I’ve gone to beauty schools for years and this was never a problem and so disappointed because it’s hard to get a same day hair appointment now.

Allison Whitney: I made an appointment at TSPA a couple weeks ago for a haircut and Gianni did an amazing job! I have long wavy hair and the layers and styling looked incredible for such an affordable price. Unlike other salons, no one was pushy about purchasing overpriced hair products. Gianni gave a soothing scalp massage while shampooing my hair, so great that I went back 2 weeks later just for a shampoo and blow dry. Highly recommend Gianni and TSPA to anyone as it’s now become my go to spot.

Brittany Jeffries: Jenny took excellent care of me at the Mimosa salon today! I came in to get a mani/pedi (no gel) after finding out the R st location was temporarily closed. I walked over the 10 min and they took me immediately (it was 1:30pm on a tues) and offered me the standard mimosa or champagne. I had a wonderful pedicure ($38 for the exfoliating one) and mani($20) and I absolutely love the color. Everything is sterilized, they line the basin, and the chairs look clean. Wish I had asked for an extra coat on my fingers, but overall I'm very pleased. Great massage and shaping. *excuse my hideous feet 😆

Leidys Gutierrez: Since I arrived it was terrible. I arrived ten minutes before my appointment, 45 minutes later I had to extend the parking time because I was still waiting. My appointment was at 7:15 pm at the Connecticut Av. location and they started seeing me at 7:47 pm. They didn't even offer me water for waiting, but they did distribute drinks to others, which I suppose were the famous mimosas that the person who recommended the place told me about. I only put two stars (which is perhaps a lot) because the nails do not look bad until you see them in person very closely, the nails have air bubbles and they feel lumps of paint like when the nail polish is not well applied. While they were making them for me, a lady brought money to the person who attended me while he was cleaning my nails, he took the money, and began to look in his wallet and took out more, left the stall and came back, without even cleaning his hands. Then He call someone else to do the design for me (which is just close to what I showed him) and then he kept working quickly and left me. The worst experience I've ever had in a salon in my life, from start to finish. Still treat them well and pay them 20% tip. but I have two more Groupon's that I wish The receive a refund to do not use anymore at this place.

Margaret Westley: I had a gel manicure today at this salon. I made a reservation for the afternoon the day before and had no problems getting my nails done. The technician was professional and nice. Kyle Jordan: I’ve been to several different Mimosa establishments in the DC metro area, but this was my first visit to this particular location. Not a particularly warm welcome, but was seated promptly for my pedicure at 6:30. I was encouraged to select several higher priced pedicure options, ultimately, I went with the mid-level “#3” and sat back to enjoy a relaxing experience. The technician offered me a complimentary glass of champagne and worked assertively on my toes and feet. At 6:46, the technician indicted that she had completed the service. While the level of work was adequate, the experience was neither particularly relaxing or enjoyable and a $40 pedicure should take longer than 16 minutes. Each Mimosa Salon has its own “character” and “charm”, but this location is one I would pass on and consider other sister salons in and around the area.

Linden Yee: I've gotten a couple of lovely gel manicures here with nail art. The end results look great and both the technicians I went to were very committed to making the end product look good. I would advise not being afraid to ask for more coats of polish or touch ups where you see the need. Mild downsides are that the manicure tools did not come in sanitary bags and the price was a little steep ($50-60).

Nazanin Sadé: nails were done well, but during mechanical filing he nicked my cuticles and I was bleeding from 4 different fingers. It is painful when it happens and it’s painful for several days after every time my hands get wet and the cuts burn. I was disappointed they weren’t more careful and gentle after the first time they see it’s bleeding. This happened to me somewhere else too, maybe it’s common but I hate it and won’t be going back.

Sherrie Sushner: This was my first time going to Mimosa Salon. I had a nail dip. I explained how I wanted my nails cut. My manicurist Kelly listened to what I said and took her time doing my manicure.The end result was beautiful looking nails! I will definitely go back there.Service: Manicures

Larry Fulton: It’s always a pleasure going to mimosa salon. Nikki always gives me a warm and friendly greeting. I believe all the technicians are excellent. Darren Thompson: I try to make a point to not give five stars, so I won’t. This place is a quality pedicure and they stay open late so you can actually get stuff done during the day. They are very accommodating because I never make an appointment. I started coming here in January 2022 and decide, every month, to make the trip from SE to Dupont Circle because of the late night convenience.

jlduhr: If you don’t mind paying $40 for a manicure then try this place but I personally felt the technician was rushing.She left gel polish on the skin and the cuticles are not cut right.

Eric Salgado: Wouldn’t go anywhere else. Agus is the absolute best and is so incredibly nice. The cut is a bit pricey but to me it’s totally worth it. Start with a shampoo wash and then great and haircut with attention to detail.

Margarita Alonzo: Great haircut for my curly hair. Agus consistently has done a great job. And he’s a really nice person. I’ve found it hard to find someone that can do a good job with my thick curly hair. He takes his time, shaped it well and always leaves it looking great. I always get lots of compliments afterwards. And it looks great for weeks after the cut.

Lindsey Minkoff: I’ve tried 4 different keratin treatments and Sophia La Belle’s hair Botox treatment is by far the best. I have fine but frizzy/wavy hair, and this treatment makes it so smooth, shiny, and manageable. It truly breathes life back into my hair. Of course I love how my hair looks after hair Botox, but it also feels much healthier. Been going to Sophia La Belle for 4 years and keep coming back for more.

Caity Kanengiser: I moved to NY a few years ago and have been looking for a keratin treatment similar to the one that I had done at Sophia La Belle and have had no luck. I am going to be in DC for a long weekend and knew that I needed to call the salon and make an appt since I had a really great experience the last time I had my keratin done there. My hair was super shiny and easy to manage. I'm looking forward to the same experience again!

Karyn F: WOW!!! I have been using Sophia La Belle for a few years now. Like other reviewers, I have been straightening my super curly hair since the early 90s. The botox treatment has the best results! Yes, you do leave with "glassy" straight hair. When I wash my hair at home, you still need to dry and flat iron it. However, what the treatment does is takes away the frizz and cuts the drying time down. What their videos. It is all true! My hair has never been healthier. It went from a 45-50 min drying and flat iron time to 15 mins for both heat and flat iron. The results are amazing. negin soleimani: Sophia la belle is the best and most professional salon i have been to. Faramnd was very helpful with the phone consultation and i knew what to expect from the beginning. He is very friendly and welcoming. The atmosphere is very cozy and clean. My stylist sepi, did an outstanding job on my hair. I left the salon feeling fabulous. Not to mention, they have their own hair products that make the treatment last way longer than other products!!!

Catherine Woodcock: The Hair Botox service offered by this salon is unbelievable! I have dealt with coarse, frizzy har for a long time and this procedure completely changed everything for me for the better! It smoothed and softened my hair while maintaining my wave. It lasts the full 3-4 months (with aftercare products -- highly recommend). I love love love this service! Don't hesitate!

Joy Tiani: Sophia La Belle has been doing my keratin for about 6 years now, and I highly recommend Sepideh. She is so quick(who has time to sit there for hours!) but she does a really great job! I also love their shampoo, conditioner and other keratin products. Definitely call Sophia La Belle and ask for Sepideh if you are thinking about getting a keratin treatment!!

Celia Scott: I had a Hair Botox done at Sophia la belle for the third time last week, and usually it lasts me 3 to 4 months and it makes my hair smooth, shiny, reduces the curls pattern, gets rid of the frizz and more importantly makes my hair healthier. I use to have damaged hair (blowdrying, flat ironing, and over processed hair) but no more. even from the first time that I did it my hair improved greatly. I love their after care products which helps the treatment last long and style better. I will never do Brazilian blowout again which made my hair dry, dull and faded away in few weeks. Sepi (stylist) and Faramand (Man over the phone) are very professional and informative, price is fair for quality of their work. Highly recommended!

Baina Bien-Aime: I called before booking my appointment to better understand the hair botox treatment, i have natural 4c hair, i wanted to keep my hair natural but just to have them more manageable, and The way they explained to me the treatment was exactly what i was looking for! I went there and did my hair botox, im very satisfied! And even booking my second appointment soon! Very good customer service, the two Women who did my hair, were also very nice and will explain the treatment to you while they are doing it! Thank you guys!

Jenn Wendel: This place is wonderful!! I have been getting keratin treatments for about 7 years. I have always had the frizzy/big hair, since living in the DMV humidity it got even worse. I was going to NJ to get my keratin until I found Sofia La Belle. Their products work and are cheaper than my place in NJ because they make the product!! It’s amazing to go to a place that not only has good products but caters to people who struggle with frizzy/curly hair!! Check out my before & after. My hair feels amazing!!

Tiara: I've had my hair done 3 times now at this salon and each time I was very pleased. I always get my hair done with Shannon who is a wonderful stylist, I've only gotten blow outs done by her but from what I've seen she can damn near do it all. My overall experience at this salon has been a great one and I'd highly recommend to anyone- no matter what style or type of hair you have.

Althea Granger: My experience with Ashleigh and her assistant Kenecia’s customer service was hot garbage and I never even got my appointment scheduled. I had my consultation for color which was $35 and was told the assistant would contact me to make my appointment. I heard from her days later with the option of scheduling on a Thursday at 10:00 or an appointment all the way in December. Neither appointment worked for me. The stylist has to be the first in history to not work evenings and weekends. This made it difficult for me to make an appointment as I work 9-5. After two weeks of back and forth with the assistant, I finally reached out to Ashleigh via instagram and she left my messages seen blatantly ignoring me. After being ignored of course I no longer wanted to do business with them so I requested a refund which was also left on read. I’m really disappointed in the treatment I received from them both as I was looking forward to being styled by Ashleigh. For me customer service is a big deal and a stylist requesting $310 for services should have way better service than I received.
