Bennett Career Institute: what do users think?

DonDiva Davis: They've allowed me to establish a career in this Industry for the past 18 years. As a 2x Valedictorian I would highly recommend Bennett to anyone in pursuit of an awesome and amazing career jump start into the Beauty & Barbering Industry!

natalie: I always love going here. The students and staff are pleasant, I really enjoy the way they compliment one another, that can be so important to a person to hear that someone liked what they did or what they are doing. A compliment can go a long way.

R.L. D: This place apparently passes off your social and any other information that you give the to a third party. I moved from another state and had to get my id mailed to the new state that I moved to and I has a Maryland address. They said 5 different reasons that why my identification was no good and apparent it was. The “third” party service that they use without permission because I never signed any paperwork giving the Bennett career institute permission to send my sensitive information to a party of people that has nothing to do with this establishment. I pray that there is no fraud on my credit and social. I do not know who this processor is and nor will “doctor” Bonita branch, nor will the head of administrations at this office provide me with who these people are. This school is extremely fishy and if you value your personal information don’t apply or go to this school.

Deborah Simms: Excellent service and stylist are courtesy to customers concerns for satisfactory appearances .

Wendy W: I have been coming here for years; the students change and so have the instructors, BUT the level of professionalism and quality of service has not. Their work often surpasses profession beauty salons which are much pricier. You get a great deal in a real quiet and relaxing atmosphere.

Schiieyenne Parker-Bowser: Ms. Polite is rude as hell. I called a phone number that my child called me from and asked a question and she got so rude. She is a supposedly student at the Bennet Hair School/Institute on Monroe street in DC. I was disrespected and rudely treated. She is not someone to go to to get her hair done, if that’s her real name. To be polite is totally different from what this person gave, horribly disrespectful.

Tracy Cross Lucas: Always have a great experience here except after COVID. Website is NOT updated. Went after taking Friday off to be informed that I needed an appointment-not on website-other services, like eyebrow waxing are not offered-COVID and not listed on website AND they are now closed on SATURDAY. I was informed this by the woman at the service window. Please update the site. Another person walked in after me, without an appointment, and had to go through the same ordeal. That sucks.

Sandra Jenkins: Got to my appointment early. Staff was kind enough to start servicing me before my scheduled appointment. Due to shortage of students staff pitched in to service clients. Got finished in very timely manner.

A Diablo: The hair service I received was great I just didn't like how my shirt was stained in the process and the lack of action accountability around that incident. I'm unsure if I will be returning.

Annette Wiggins-Bey: I appreciate their professionalism, I was taken care of in a timely fashion. I definitely will recommend to family. I live in Baltimore and don't trust no one there to put hands in my head . It is beautiful that I can come back home and find someplace where the customer is definitely number one. Thank you!!

Justin Wright: Excellent Service; Ask for Master Barber LaRue and tell him "Justin" sent you

Earl E Jones Jr: Outstanding service and a good place to work

Chris Markomanolakis: Old school barbershop feel!Funny conversations, crazy characters, and friendly barbers...what's not to like?

Ibrahim Diallo: I'm was a good one . It will always be my barbershop.

SANIC: It was a horrible experience and the barbers kept cursing and yelling at the slightest movement.

M1 Innovations Barber Studio: what do users think?

Anthony Berry: I'm from Detroit and my mans Big O got me out the way. Been knowing him for years and it's always more than a cut... it's the experience you paying for. Plus, the other gentlemen working there are more than just Black men cutting hair, but authenticly good people. They're making sure D.C. Black Barbershop conversations stay knowledgeable and relevant. Cozy spot with dope lighting and right next to Rhode Island Metro Station.

LOVStudios: This is what one calls an "experience." You have never been to a shop like this, with these types of services provided. They solve real hair problems, give perfect haircuts, and provide an overall experience that leaves you relaxed when you leave. By appointment via Styleseat and always timely, you can count on these professionals to give you exactly what you need to keep you looking tight. You will even leave out with no loose hair on you and smelling good so you can continue your day with class.

Ryan Quiles: The Brothers in this shop take care of you. They take there time & make sure that what U ask of them when it comes to Getting your haircut that it is Done well. U get what u ask FOR.. It is also very nicely set up for customers. I salute them..

Joseph Crawley: Come here during grand opening, great services, friendly staff. Would recommend to anyone looking for new barber shop. Definitely come back

Joy James: Morono cut my hair twice. The first time was 2wks ago and it was great. He took me as a walk in which he's appt only so I was very grateful. My avatar pic isn't recent but I have a shortcut. The first time of my visit I asked for a light fade, no edge up, and a 2 line design which he did. However, he gave me a hydrotherapy treatment I didn't ask for which I had to pay for of course, on top of my haircut. My total was $47 which I thought was absurb, but whatever. I truly got what I desired THAT day. However, I returned this past Saturday around 1pm as a walk in again, and he took me in again thankfully. Being pretty never hurt lol..Buy anyway, he asked what I wanted and I said, "The same exact thing; a light fade, no edge up, keep it feminine, with the same design." He replied ok. At the end of my visit I quickly looked in the hand mirror without truly examining my cut bc I had to run and I just said, "thank you." Now mind you I didn't get the hydrotherapy treatment as before (I never asked for it) but my total was still the same as the first time, $47...SMH. But being a newbie to the shop I paid it because I had things to do. After leaving the shop I kept my hat on pretty much the rest of the day while running errands etc bc it was cold out. I finally get home around 7pm and moment of truth.... I took my hat off while in the mirror and I had drastic receiding uneven edges I didn't want OR need, plus a masculine shape up, the line art design was crooked, and way too much hair was taken off. I was/am annoyed, disgusted, pissed, and I feel played. I didnt say nor do anything to warrant the complete opposite of what I asked for, more importantly PAID FOR. I contacted MoronO via ig dm AND his styleseat page cordially expressing my haircut woes and he never responded! That speaks volumes alone. I immediately contacted my bank and got my well deserved refund/reverse payment. I wore a hat to work yesterday out of embarrassment. Today, I showed my coworker and she said that looks like nothing I would want nor anything I should have to go wear! Ugh!! Long story short, I should've stuck to my female barber who listens instead of experimenting on a whim to be fluffed & disappointed.

Grace Marvin: I am very unhappy. I bought the pen razor and it came without any instructions. I sent messages through the contact form three times to no avail. Nobody ever contacted me. I finally got through via phone and I just want to return the pen, but they say they do not accept returns. I don't want to buy anything from a place that won't accept any returns or explain how to use their product. Never again!

Deniece Martin: But I don't like not getting the barber request

Dondré: If you need a cut ask for Chaun. He will take care of you. This is a very nice upscale barbershop. It's pretty small so you'll need an appointment.

Nelson Urraca: World Class service and experience!I would love if all barbers could speak with Morono. He has this industry down to a science! Invest in yourself and watch what’s possible.

Jeff Allen: Great place to have a male pampering moment, Men deserve to be pampered to!

Barbers of St,James London: what do users think?

Frank Fasi: Made an appointment two hours earlier online. Showed up about 20 minutes early, but was ready to go in 10. I had Thomas cut my hair. I went in wanting to try something new, so I left it up to him to decide how to cut it. Thomas made a plan and talked me through exactly what he was going to do, then he got started. He took the time to make sure everything was trimmed to perfection. Ended up with a tapered combover. He even lined up the sides. Excellent haircut, and it was my first one in months. The true barbershop interior and jazz music added to the experience. Well worth the price (around $50 is what I spent, including tip). Best part, they actually take cash or card, so no need to deal with all the hassle other places might put you through just to pay. All around, a fantastic first haircut in DC. Definitely will be going back again to Thomas in the future! Service: Haircut

Shawn Malik: The owner and Fernando who cut my hair were extremely welcoming and professional. I ended up being more than an hour early for my appointment and they accommodated me without hesitation. Fernando took his time with great care cutting my hair and trimming my beard. Best haircut I’ve ever gotten. 11 out of 10. Do yourself a favor and book now. Services: Haircut , Beard trim

craig pettigrew: Called Rick about getting haircuts and shaves for a group of groomsmen prior to a wedding, and he went out of his way to take care of us. I got my haircut and shave from Thamir, and he did a phenomenal job. He got us looking sharp before our friends big day. Great experience all around.

Jillian Hicks: Really nice guys, atmosphere, and vibe. They were able to squeeze my partner in for a walk-in appointment and gave him a perfect skin fade. His barber’s attention to detail was amazing. Highly recommend!

Soren Whiting: This barber shop is an absolute life saver. Prior to coming in to Barbers of St James London, I attempted to cut my hair myself and completely ruined it. However, I was completely saved by the skilled work of Thamir Zeyada, who did an incredible job fixing my hair and gave me the best hair cut I have received in years. I cannot recommend this place more, the team is incredibly friendly and the work is of the highest quality. Service: Haircut

Xevian: If I can give a zero star I would. The barber that cut my hair completely messed up my hair. He had no idea of what he was doing. He cut my hair so short that I can see my scalp despite I repeated told him my requirement!! And on top of that my hair is uneven on each side!!! I don’t know how I am going to show up for work now. I lost it on him! I will not go back to this place again! Someone like him should not be a barber! My wife can do a better job!!
Response: Hello so sorry to hear this. Please who was the barber that cut your hair? and could I send you a gift certificate to try another one of are barbers. Disappointment to hear this Rick

Ahilan Amirthanayagam: I spoke to the owner, Rick, on the phone before coming in to the shop. I told him that I wanted to get a beard trim and he told me that I should book an appointment with Fernando. I was surprised by the time and care Fernando took with my beard as well as the service he provided. This was in the top three of my experiences with a quality beard trim and I recommend you to see Fernando if you want a professional touch up.

Stephen Taylor: Outstanding barbers here. Took me on short notice, did an amazing job getting my beard lined up and gave me a fresh fade. Shop is nice and clean inside, they used good products on me, and gave great advice.Services: Haircut, Beard trim

Joshua Staley: Such an amazing cut. There is just something about a real barber who uses a straight razor and hot towel. A relaxing experience that is well worth the cost. Wish we had more barbers like this.Services: Haircut, Beard trim

Serge Eygenson: Great service, flexible hours, and reasonable prices. Thamir Z was an excellent barber and did a great job.

Hair Academy: what do users think?

Stephanie Whitfield: First, you get what you pay for! Remember, that these are students learning to do hair, barbering and nails. Depending on the student and how long they've been in school and how much they have learned. Some students have a natural talent for doing hair and some don't. Sometimes you get excellent results and sometimes you don't.

Love Yourself: Im newly enrolled student at this academy and let me tell you that this is the WORST decision ever of choosing this school. The instructors here are VERY unprofessional, the one instructor who was professional, they Fired. I've regretted my decision of ever choosing this academy for me to advance in my life and career. Except for my classmates (who i love and me loving cosmetology) who keeps me wanting to come and finish what I started because yes the insrutocrs are SOOOOOOOOO unprofessional i ABSOLUTELY did not want to come back even after all my financial aid was completed. That's how unprofessional they are.If you are looking to come here...DONT!!! The energy and vibe is SOOOOO OFF!

C J: I wanted to enroll in the Esthetician program so I booked an appointment online. Its close to my home so I thought it would be convenient. The next day after I booked the appointment, some woman texts me and asked me to call her about what I would need for financial aid. I haven’t even had a tour of your school. I want to see what you can offer me before I even consider enrolling and applying for financial aid. The next 3 days I received calls, 2 before 8am. First of all, its extremely rude to be callin my phone that early. Like, please lemme have some coffee first! If I book an appointment, wait till I get there to ask me questions and talk about enrollment. After she called me today at 7:40am I just said forget it and cancel my appointment. If you’re hounding me before I get there, I don’t want to be pressured to enroll after my visit. It sucks because this would have been a good option for me but again, I don’t need any pressure especially right now in my life.
Response: Good Morning CJ. I'm glad to hear that you are interested in our new Esthetics Program. It is a spectacular program at a phenomenal school. Our Admissions Representatives are excited to help you as you embark on your career journey in the beauty industry. The calls you received were to give you some details on the early morning information session you scheduled. If the mornings don't work best for you, we certainly have a wonderful evening opening. When you are ready, I'd like to speak with you. Call 301-459-2509 x11 Ask for Ms. Henrietta Shaw, Director of Admissions.

G Y: Where do I start from ..... We have supported this business/academy over the years, not like their services are super great, Yes they are students they learn until they become professionals, you get what you pay for and we understand, and I have never reviewed them over the years based on all the aforementioned reasons above, but this is the last straw that breaks the Camel's back. We were here last week, precisely March 19th 2022 between 11am - 1:26pm, and the attached pictures is what we got. In as much as we all know these are students, infecting and breaking people's skin shouldn't happen for no reason (what kind of training are they getting). I called the academy on Monday March 21st 2022 around 3:36pm to express my disappointment and reservation, a Lady named Ebony answered the phone and promised my feedback will be forwarded to the appropriate authorities and I will be reached out to by the Director, guess the Director is a very "busy person", a week after I am still waiting for their call. Between this last visit and now we have visited Urgent Care (there is a record for that ) and the Pharmacy, One of the children had full blown rashes all over. Few months from now I hope to take the children for blood tests to see if and hopefully they weren't infected with anything from this last visit. I may be back and see what legal actions can be taken if the need arises.

Camille Abdulla: My mother comes here every now and then when she doesn’t want the hassle of doing her own hair and I take good detail of the work done on her. If your looking for a simple blow out you may have SOME luck but the students need more education on cutting. My mother received a sloppy poorly done hair cut and she let me know that the educators were satisfied, the cut was uneven, choppy and blunt, to my surprise it was done by hand, the student obviously needs better sheers and to map better guidelines throughout the cut so it’s not so patchy. The hair definitely gained more weight but it needs to be even inside and out. This is an educational institution which itself needs more education and more of a modern touch to hair unfortunately.

Aleah Proctor: My mom and I went here and we were told by the instructor to brush our own hair. We explained to her that our hair cannot be brushed dry and and asked why someone can’t detangle our hair after washing it. She proceeded to tell us that we needed our hair brushed before coming and that we can go back home brush it and then come back. The owner told my mom that she wouldn’t be able to get through her hair because of the texture but she could probably brush through mine. She has 4c hair by the way worst experience we ever had never coming there again!
Response: Hi Aleah! We thank you for your most recent visit to Hair Academy. We are grateful to you and all our customers who provide a real-world experience for our students in our Cosmetology, Barbering & Esthetics Programs. We apologize for not providing the exceptional customer service you are used to, and we are known for! I hope that you would consider visiting us again. Please also keep in mind that WE ARE A SCHOOL, and yes, we hope to always improve and impress. We strive for an outstanding customer experience, but also know there will always be room for improvement. Our Campus Director would love to hear from you regarding improvements to our service and how to implement change! Please call us 301-459-2509 to share your suggestions. We hope to hear from you soon.

Diane Wallace: Great place. Took my sister there to get her hair cut. The young lady who cut and styled her hair was very professional. My sister has MS and Ivy, the stylist was very patient and gentle with her. Ask for Ivy 😊

Kayla Wilson: I went there to get me hair done and the women did a absolutely terrible job. I have 4b kinky curly hair. First she tried to bristle brush through my dry kinky hair hurting me in the process. When washing my hair she soaked my back. During blow-drying instead of going tip to root and detangling from the bottom she viciously rip through my hair. When I told her she was hurting me she asked “what do you mean”. She then proceeded to continue ripping through my hair harder than she did before. When flat ironing she was rushing( the instructor told her to slow down several times) and didn’t the ends of my hair properly. Did not pay attention when the instructor tried to give constructive criticism she was looking away. It’s been one hour now and My hair is now puffy and some of my curls are now showing again.

Marcellos Fells: Don’t come here. I wasted 2 and half hours sitting here to get my hair done only to be told when I asked, “we are still waiting for someone who could do the style you requested’ What a shame. They even asked me to cross my name and leave if I don’t want it. Save your time and money and go where it’s professional. Bad experience. Very rude and unprofessional. Hair done here don’t even last a week
Response: Hi Marcellos! We thank you for your most recent visit to Hair Academy. We are grateful to you and all our customers who provide a real-world experience for our students in our Cosmetology, Barbering & Esthetics Programs. Hair Expressions, A Paul Mitchell Partner School: what do users think?

Afro Violet: I got a very bad haircut that needed to be fixed. I lamented as to where I could turn given that I had after textured curly hair and didn't quite know how to describe the fix that I needed but I need something was wrong.... It occurred to me that there was a high school not so far and that the teachers and the students might have a good idea of how to make the cut look better given that these are the people teaching people how to do hair.... I was so right they were patient thorough and kind and they made me look better and feel better... Once I have a little more hair on my head I will definitely go back. Thank you so much for being not only great educators but providing great customer service. Shout out to Miss Jasmine for being a great teacher.

ashley ferman: Where do I even begin. I graduated the esthetics program not too long ago and have so much to say about the Paul Mitchell in Rockville. To start off, the school lacks so much supplies. It would take weeks for them to even restock our products. You would literally have to nag and nag for you to get products. Most of the facial steamers in my class we’re broken, and they were always dirty. The school itself is so outdated. During the summer time, stink bugs would infest the school, you would be getting a facial done, and they would just land on your chest. Don’t get me started on the teachers. My class went through 5 different teachers just in the 9 months we were there. None of the teachers are on the same page. They get no training at all when they are hired. They are all teaching different things. You can tell there is no curriculum they follow because one teacher would tell you one thing, and the other would tell you something else. I had a teacher one time tell our class that she doesn’t even know how this school is even open because of how bad it is. Out of that whole school, there was ONE good teacher named Ms. Billy that actually helped my class out. All in all, if you’re thinking about doing any program, I highly consider you looking somewhere else.

Kathy Parrent: Too slow! Just spent 2 hours and 20 minutes while a student hair cutter futzed around trying to cut my hair. She was supposed to be supervised by an experienced working stylist, but that person disappeared and another was occupied. It was only $12 and I knew the risk of getting a bad hair cut — which it is — but I hadn’t eaten lunch because I figured it would take an hour at maximum. So my blood sugar was dropping by the minute and I finally said, “I haven’t eaten. I’ve been here way too long. I’m leaving!” I have a Dutch Boy haircut (told them specifically I didn’t want that, but the second supervisor didn’t know what it meant!) with the cowlick in my bangs on prominent display after discussing that at length with the cutter and first supervisor! I recognize the students are learning, but somebody should have noticed how long I was there! My husband got a cut in 20 minutes!

Vivian Yip: If a person has time, then this place is great! The students are patient and attentive to the customer's needs. I would go there again. I wish there were more of this. update 4/2022: its still good place for a haircut, but I think the quality has gone down a bit, but for the price, it's okay. (not as good as it used to be)

Elizabeth Pavlov: Positive: Communication, Professionalism, Quality, ValueBest facial ever today with Antonella. With her excellent care I had a Specialty Facial and it was dreamy! Antonella is the sweetest and most educated esthetician and made the whole experience very relaxing. She will go above and beyond to make sure you will come out renew and glowing from your facial!

Beth Stair: It's a school. My mom was a professional beautician and she always went to a school so after I retired from the military and had time, I started going to schools. The key is you have to expect to be there a while. Also, hair grows back. That's why we have to pay to have things done to it so often. As schools go, this one is clean. The students seem to be developing their skills.I have never had to deal with the owner but a couple of the younger instructors are fantastic teachers and stylists. They keep an eye on the students (even in the hair wash area) and are readily available for questions. They also have very pleasant personalities. 😊

Sarah BEAR: I went here today as a walk in and was greeted right away. I chose the wrong time to come as it was during lunch break so I went and did a dog walk and came back about an hour later. I was warmly greeted again and waited maybe 10 minutes to be seen. I consulted the stylist in training (Maria) about getting my hair trimmed and then planning on getting my hair lightened up to a platinum. She was very patient with me and took her time explaining the process it would take to achieve the color I wanted. I was really happy with her attention to detail and her patience with me during the consult about coming back to get my hair lightened once I grow it out a wee more. I will definitely be coming back. I used to go regularly to get my hair trimmed here (not sure why I ever stopped as all my experiences with this school have always been pleasant). If you have time-go with a less advanced student. If crushed for time an advanced student is a good deal. And you just can't beat the price! I paid 12.00 for a trim (I expected it to be more $$ because I have really long hair). She cut quite a bit off (due to the damages I created bleaching my own hair over a year ago). I feel like a new woman! I look forward to going back to achieve the Platinum look I desire so I can then play with lots of pastel tones down the road😊

Dame Lorraine: Ed is the only person I trust for a haircut. Unfortunately, they no longer take clients. I’m also a past student here :)

Jackie D.: Been going here for years. I have never been dissappointed. Always fun, and entertaining . Great haircut at $12

Casey Delaney: I have gone to this location several times over the last 3-4 years for my hair care. From a basic trim or cut to hair coloring, I have never left this place unhappy. The instructors are attentive and the students are kept informed of the best ways to do things. I usually spend a bit more time in the chair than at your average salon, but because these are students taking their time, I don't mind! The prices can't be beat, too! Will definitely continue using their services.

Montgomery Beauty School: what do users think?

Jessica Cruz: During my time at Montgomery Beauty school so far Ms. Roe has made it a great learning environment and very efficient and productive. Ms Roe is always ready to teach and help you with any challenges during class. Ms Nelvi is always kind and available to answer any questions we might have. Overall a great learning experience. :)

Victoria T (Its Vicky): I'm going to piggy back of what Elita said in these reviews. This school is a huge rip off. I went there in 2007 and I later found out all the shady stuff they've been doing to students. I really didn't learn much because once I got to intermediate level I was often just there sitting for hours with no instructor to teach me anything. The school cost so much but I felt like with my supplies I got and the quality of teaching it didn't add up to what I paid. When I was in the beginners level our teacher was pretty decent but they were cramming new students in there so much I was often bumping elbows with the student next to me. This school is just a money grabber. There are so many better schools to go to.

Kiki Jom: Be ready to spend a lot of time here. Couldn't get my acrylic nails removed because the e-file machine broke and no slippers were offered for my pedicure until I asked at the end of the pedicure. My stylist did a good job washing and styling my hair and Ms. Matthews was constantly on the floor supervising and correcting the students but not the other supervisor/ teachers.

Bria Renee: I just want to acknowledge Mia. I was there for almost three hours and had plans to be somewhere at a certain time. The stylist that was doing my hair needed much assistance. The instructor wasn’t helpful at all, and she knew my situation. Mia stepped up and helped. I really appreciated that and wanted to recognize her for that.

Elita: If I could give zero stars I would. I went to this school back in 2001. I didn't finish because it didn't seem like learning to me. Fast forward to 2021: I've been trying to get my transcripts from this school for over a month. Multiple calls/emails from me and staff from my new school and nothing but empty promises from Montgomery Beauty School. I feel like this school is a rip off. I filed for a pell grant while there and never got any of that money plus found out from my new school that a student loan was taken out in my name at Montgomery Beauty School without my knowledge. I of course had ro pay that off in order to attend my new school. Even though I've done that Montgomery Beauty School will NOT give me my transcripts! This "school" has been a burden on me for the past 20 years without me even knowing it. P.S. I did find out that I am NOT the only one dealing with these issues from this "school". So, beware.

cookies'n'cream XD: Critical: ProfessionalismWent there a few days ago, overall I loved my hair but there is a new instructor, Ms. Timmons she does not treat the students with respect and she is very rude.

Sarah Tilahun: Positive: Communication, Professionalism, Quality, ValueI have been coming to this hair school for 21 years!!! They are the only ones who know how to manage my multi cultural hair. I had awesome experiences as a girl and now I bring my daughter and son here! They are absolutely fantastic!! 2 thumbs way up 👍🏾👍🏾

Easter U. Obioha: Nobody here knows how to do Afro kinky-coily hair. When I walked in there were these three students commenting on my hair, and not in a good way. The only people who seem to have an idea of what to do are the instructors, and they aren’t responsive when a student is doing something wrong. They had no heat protectant, didn’t detangle my hair before washing, and it resulted in way more breakage than needed. I also have major heat damage. I’m very concerned about students not knowing how to do Afro textured hair and still being able to graduate from the school. If you’re a natural 4c texture, I wouldn’t even bother. The only black people in the institution were the instructors, and they didn’t even care to check up on me. Overall I am very disappointed with my experience. It could’ve been a learning opportunity for the entire school. The instructors could’ve used my hair and demonstrated the do’s and don’ts of black hair.

Yohance Campbell: Yeah, it was my first time there perhaps I’m just not familiar with operations. However, when I arrived an argument broke out between one of the teachers and the receptionist. In addition to the cold temperatures in the school. But, my biggest issue was the two lock twist hair style I care in for. Which should’ve involved a simple maintenance twist followed by the two lock twist. The student did my entire hair wrong, so all my twist fell out / unraveled by the time I got home. The students issue was she did not two loc twist in the “opposite” direction of the maintenance twist. If the maintenance twist is twisted in the same direction as the two loc twist, the two loc twist will not hold. This was later found on YouTube by me later that night. I ended up twisting my hair myself with that approach provided by YouTube and it worked perfectly. My twists never fell out. What was really annoying was the student complained to me that my twist were not staying in. She shared comments that there is something wrong with that top of my hair, because none of the twist she’d done would stay in. Rather not listen to defensive complaints that my hair doesn’t work right, when I’ve had the style before without any issue. That just didn’t make sense to me, especially when YouTube is gives everyone the answers. Let me know if you want to remove the above details that’s why I didn’t explain publicly my issues.
Response: Hi Yohance! We're sorry you did not have a 5-star experience with us! We take pride in giving our clients excellent customer service and when we don't meet those standards we would like to know why. If I can be of assistance in resolving any of your concerns please contact the School Director at 301-588-1550. Thank you and I look forward to speaking with you soon.

Tiffany Mendiola: Critical: ProfessionalismI loved my hair, but the new instructor Timmons has to go. Disrespectful to the young lady :/

1st street Haircut: what do users think?

Reagan Carroll: Best first haircut for our 11 month old who was not that excited! Lots of toys, kids TV, and they gave us the comb and some hair as a souvenir! Employees still masked. 10/10 recommend!Service: Haircut

Akbar Danesh: This is my second time here. Kevin was good last time, but he was not there today. His colleague ruined my hair totally. He never used scissors at all, just trimming all around. I could do it at home by myself. His first question was where am I from?I think he works based on the origin of the customer. If I knew that what would he is going to do with my hair, I never answered him. He also charged me extra than before!

Rana Singh: Just moved to the area and needed a haircut. I’m picky about my hair since it’s wavy/slightly curly and I get a low fade as well, so I was skeptical. I haven’t had a bad experience with a haircut before until my visit here. Firstly, it felt like the haircut could have been 20 minutes long instead of 50. The guy was needlessly cutting/trimming random areas of hair all around my head. Also, he began cutting the hair on top of my head with a trimmer as is, without combing it out to understand my hair’s length. He pulled random curls and cut the end off, but never uniformly. I thought it was common knowledge that cutting curly/very wavy hair while dry is a big no-no, but apparently not. When I asked him to please wet my hair and cut it using scissor sections by section, he told me that “isn’t the right way” and “that way is for women” even though I’ve had it cut only that way my entire life (listen to your customers and don’t gaslight them, it goes a long way). I decided against arguing with him since the damage was already done. Lastly, the fade is uneven and blended poorly into the bulk of my hair. It only looked worse once I got home and checked it out in the mirror. If you require a simple haircut, give this place a try at your own risk. If you have textured hair and want something that isn’t basic, don’t waste your time and money going here. Service: Haircut
Response: I am so sorry to hear that. Can you come anytime you convenient? I will fix your hair and give you full refund. He is usually good with regular hair but fade. Recently, one of my barber quit and having a long waiting situation. I promise I will fix that situation. Please look for Gina(manager). Again, I am so sorry.

Kamal C: One of the absolute best and cleanest barbershops in Washington DC, 😍😍😍💛🖤💚 💙💯💯💯 I highly recommend coming here if you want one of the cleanest and smoothest haircuts. They focus on not just safety and cleanliness but also perfection 👌..!! See you again soon.!

Robert Alexander: Great haircuts, reasonable prices. However, do not try and schedule an appointment on the schedulicity app, you will be disappointed.

Nick DiNardo: Kevin gives a great haircut! Super easy to book online, never a wait, and most importantly, a great haircut!

Kevin Martin: Had a great hair and beard cut by Kevin! Great value, and an outstanding cut. True barber skills with good fade and straight razor work. Only item of note was that I used the online reservation system, and it was not being used in the shop. Definitely walk-in, first come; first served style. Worked out the same time wise this time. However the cut and service more than make up for any technology issues.

Nick Stoler: Best haircut I've had in years AND one of the least expensive. And I love that it's a very unpretentious place (but still nice and clean). It's even got a little play area to help keep kids occupied. I don't have kids so I can't vouch for how effective it is, though!

Paige Lieberman: I took my 4yo daughter here for a basic haircut. They advertise kids cuts, but be warned that it is only for boys. As soon as we walked in, Jenny said “no, I won’t do this,” which made my already nervous preschooler even more so. I said it was just a basic cut, and she did a straight trim across the back but refused to wash it or do anything to the front of her hair. She also seemed to have no experience working with kids. I could have done a better job myself. Also, one of the male staff was walking around without a mask. Will not return.

John H.: I can't say much about the haircut, since I didn't get one. The customer who was getting their hair done seemed familiar with the stylist and overall happy with how it was going. I'm looking for a barber since I'm new to the area. Found the shop on Google Maps and figured I'd give it a shot. Website didn't have the ability to make an appointment, but had an email form for "requesting a quote". I listed that I wanted to get my haircut at 10, right when they open. They response said just to walk in. I did just that (walked in bang on at 10:03) and there was already a customer. I sat for 35 minutes before I got up and left. The stylist told me she was almost done, but I had to go pick up my partner at the airport (the haircut was meant to be a surprise for her). All said, the shop seemed fine, well-kept and family friendly, but I wish the system or lack thereof, for reservations had been clearer.

Georgetown Aveda Salon & Spa: what do users think?

Suzann Riester: My hair stylist is Salome Desilva. I found Salome after trying out lots of different hair stylists in Georgetown when I moved there from McLean, VA 3 years ago. I started with weekly wash & blow-outs, but continued to go to my McLean stylist for color. And after 6 months, I trusted Salome enough to 'let' her do my color and she did a fabulous job. A skilled and talented stylist who does wonderful and fun color, great haircuts and wash & blow-outs to die for. AND, she's an incredible kind and warm person with a caring nature and sense of humor. Giver her a try - you won't go anywhere else after you meet with her. Services: Haircut , Hairstyling
Response: Thank you for your super rating and great comments about Salome Suzann. Salome is one of the best stylist in the business and we are so pleased to have her on our team. We appreciate your loyalty and look forward to your continued visits. Happy New Year.

Becky Ahern: I recently got my hair done by Salome and she was phenomenal. I have very long, thick hair that usually takes 6+ hours to balayage or highlight. Salome had my hair completely transformed in less than 4 hours and the results were stunning. This woman is a total professional, listens to what clients want, gives helpful advice while coming up with an individual plan for your hair, and clearly knows what she's doing! The salon is very clean and gives off a very luxurious vibe. It is a true pampering experience. The entire staff is incredibly welcoming and friendly. From the receptionists to the salon assistants, everyone makes sure all your accommodations are met. If you find yourself in the D.C. area and in need of hair appointment, Georgetown Aveda will make sure you are in EXPERT hands. Great staff, great experience! I wholeheartedly recommend! Service: Balayage
Response: Thank you Becky for the super rating and wonderful comments. With Salome you will not be in better hands. Treating guests with dignity and respect, not to mention her skills as a stylist, are signs of a true professional. We are very pleased to have Salome on our team. The great staff welcomed you back in six weeks.

Alina Millard: Terrible cut for a very expensive price!!! Paid $130 to only turn around to scramble to find another salon to fix this horrible cut before work!!! The haircut was styled and look OK when I walked out, although I had haur ALL OVER my body because he didn't do a good job covering me. By the time I got home and looked at the back it was horrible. I asked for an angled bob and it was just all wrong!! It was not an angled Bob, even though I provided a photo of my previous cut and what I was looking for. I also called ahead and told them I have had bad experience with getting an angled Bob cut that was done incorrectly and they assured me this man knew what he was doing. He was not professional and did NOT give me the cut I requested and charged me $130!!!Will never go back!!! The picture reflects how this is clearly not an angled bob!
Response: We are disappointed Alina that you left our salon unhappy. Our goal is for our guests to leave completely satisfied. Come back for a evaluation and we will make it right.

Kiley Hurwit: Salome is the best! It is very hard to find a stylist that will do exactly what you want with color. Salome is very receptive and wants to create a look that you will love! I left my appointment very happy with my color, and the best highlights I have ever had! She is also a pleasure to talk with during the appointment. Her personality is kind, and I have no doubts that she makes all her clients feel comfortable in trusting her with their hair. Thank you, Salome! Service: Hairstyling
Response: Thank you Kiley for a great rating and for such a wonderful review. Salome is a top rated stylist brassiere her work is excellent and her personality is second to none. Salome knows how to deliver what our guests want.

Molly Gray: How has this salon not shut down every other salon in DC? Stop reading reviews and just book your appointment with Salome (pronounced Sal-oh-me). 🔥🔥🔥 She is amazing. She listens to what you’re looking for, provides suggestions, is attentive, conversational, yet keeps things moving along. I just moved to the area a few months ago forcing me to find a new hair stylist after 7 years. I loved him and went somewhere else up here and I feel like they ruined my hair. After getting my courage back to try somewhere new I found Salome on Instagram @hairby_salome_ and that was all I needed to book an appt. I am so, so happy I did!!! I’m getting my engagement pics taken tomorrow and I can breathe a big sigh of relief now that my hair looks better! Thank you, Salome!! I’m so glad I found my hair stylist in my new city! ❤️❤️❤️
Response: Thank you Molly for the great rating. We are over the moon with the super comments. Yes, Salome is a true professional with a marvelous personality. We are so happy that you tried us and look forward to your next appointment. Remember book early because her book gets fills weeks in advance. See you soon.

Lucia McKelvey: Positive: Cleanliness, Professionalism, Punctuality, QualitySalome is outstanding! I have blonde hair and always very nervous to try out a new colorist, but she aced it! She was quick, without error, confident and blended the perfect amount of high and low lights to make it look natural.
Response: Thank you for your wonderful comments Lucia. We love your rating. We appreciate your visiting us and look forward to your next visit. Happy holidays.

Carlye Stevens: I have been a client at this Aveda location for about a year now and I'm always so pleased with how my hair looks after an appointment... Thanks to Salome!! I have been platinum blonde for a while, but knew my hair needed a break from bleaching. Salome did a BEAUTIFUL job giving me a slightly darker color. She also gave my hair a healthy, chic cut and a cute, curled style. Thank you, Salome, for always making me feel confident after my appointments and for being so sweet and attentive. Services: Haircut , Hairstyling
Response: We love your rating Carlye, and your comments about Salome are absolutely over the moon. Salome is one of our best stylist not for her color and styling, but also for listening to our guests and knowing what our guest wants. Thank you for your loyalty and look forward to your return.

Emma Lester: Salome is absolutely fantastic! She did such an amazing job on my hair- a full set of highlights and a beautiful cut. I will definitely be back and will recommend Salome to all my friends :)
Response: Love your rating Emma and thank you for the wonderful review. Salome is a wonderful stylist and we are thankful she is on our team. Look forward to your return visit. BTW Emma thank you for the photos. Your hair looks beautiful.

Rosie Hughes: I decided to try Georgetown Aveda for the first time in August because I love Aveda products and was looking for a new salon. Unfortunately, I received one of the worst haircuts I've ever had and I would not recommend visiting this salon. I have a few major complaints about the experience: 1. As you can see in the picture, my ends are completely uneven. 2. My stylist, Karen, was 20 minutes late the appointment without any explanation. During the entire 20 minutes I was waiting for her to arrive, no one attempted to explain to me where she was and what was taking so long. 3. Karen created a very painful knot in my hair that she tried to just ignore and I had to work the knot out of my hair once I got to my car. 4. I paid $60 for my hair to look this bad 5. Georgetown Aveda has ignored 2 of my emails in which I explained how bad my service was and asked for a refund or a complementary trim. I really wanted to like this place, but unfortunately, I will not be going back to Georgetown Aveda. Service: Haircut
Response: We are very sorry for your horrible experience Rosie. All I can say is please come in and let us correct the error that you have shown in the photo. Our goal is your satisfaction as a valued guest. We hire the best stylists who are well trained and this is not acceptable.

Good Guy: Positive: Cleanliness, Professionalism, Punctuality, Quality, ValueI am so happy to have found Georgetown Aveda. It has a wonderful healthy environment. The Front Desk and stylists are professional and a super friendly group. I love it there. My hair looks so soft and beautiful. I will come back again and again.Services: Haircut, Hairstyling
Response: Thank you for your super rating Mr. Guy. We are loving your comments. Thank you for your loyalty, and we look forward to your next visit.

H St. Hair: what do users think?

Rui Su: I did my first ever perm here and couldn't be happier. My hair stylist took really good care of my hair and gave great advice on what would look good on me, since I don't really know much about hair styling myself. I trusted his expertise and it turned out perfect in the end! The place was no frills but it's got everything you need and all the staff were super friendly. Love and support this immigrant run business that works hard and is extremely efficient - I was there for 2+ hours and was able to observe that they served all the customers very fast without rushing them and were very flexible about scheduling and walk-ins as well. Many thanks for transforming my hair!

Mohy Omer: I experienced racist comments after being told to wait for 40 minutes. The dude said he didn’t want to do my hair because he was afraid to mess it up. I wasn’t offended by that comment until he said that he charged $35 dollars for a cut, insinuating that I couldn’t afford it. I nicely told him that I 100% would pay him and even tip him big if he gave me a good cut. And then, he said I should go to a solan that does black people hair. I will never go back and I don’t think anyone should support such a business in this neighborhood or anywhere in this country.

Megan John: This place is SO much better than Aurora down the street and 1/4-1/3 the cost. Don’t follow around the Immortal Beloved rejects - they think they’re amazing but their 15-min hair cuts are completely subpar. JC is my go-to.
    Response: Thank you

Lola Meon: After reading all the positive reviews for this business, imagine my surprise when I was denied service. After a particularly emotionally taxing day, I eagerly went to my scheduled appointment at this hair salon (excited that I could do something that makes me happy - have my hair cut and feel like me again). Upon arrival, the employees claimed they 'couldn't do my hair because they were not experienced with my hair texture.' I couldn't even process the pain I felt at that moment. It's unfortunate that after months of so-called 'listening and learning,' situations like this still occur. I'm deeply upset that this has happened and urge the people of this hair salon to learn and improve. For all other black people considering going here, take this review as a warning until the employees of this place learn how to do better. Until then, I refuse to step foot in this salon again. What a huge disappointment.

Amanda Blake: I was blown away by the amazing haircut I got at H St. Hair, especially for the price!! I went in with hair past my shoulders and came out with a short, choppy bob and choppy bangs that looked like something out of a magazine. All for only $40! It far surpassed my expectations on a haircut that I was pretty nervous about getting. I will absolutely be going back. 15/10 Services: Bang trim , Haircut

Dylan Rosenthal: Great haircut, quick and no wait with an appointment. Michelle did a great jobService: Haircut

linda garcia: I’m not from DC but i really needed a haircut. My ends were dry and so i went to go cut off the split ends, the stylist then asked me if i wanted anything else done to my hair and i said why not! let me just get a few layers. the lady ended up cutting my hair so bad like i can’t even explain the layering that she did on my hair. she legitimately cut EVERYWHERE and it’s so uneven. if you want to get a basic haircut this place is decent and safe but please do not get any layering because it’ll come out so bad Service: Haircut

Sam Clark: Fantastic place to get your hair cut with great value. I have lived in DC 4 years now, and this is by fair the best place I have gotten my hair cut. The staff was very professional, and the store was very clean. The price is also amazing for the quality of haircut I got. There is very little frill associated with how the store appears, but don't let that deter you from going here to get you hair cut. This will definitely be my go to spot from now on. Service: Hairstyling

Ryan Shuman: Positive: Cleanliness, Professionalism, QualityNeeded a new spot for a haircut after a few bad experiences in the surrounding area. Ivy quickly calmed the nerves of getting another bad haircut and I was surprised by how good the service was. Wonderful cut. Thanks again!

Venkatesh Sivanandam: Best haircut place, the barber did an amazing job.

Spectrum Beauty Academy, LLC: what do users think?

j ramos: Highly recommend taking the esthetic course, I had so much fun with Mrs Kim she’s hilarious. The school educational lecture was informative and takes infection control seriously. Please make sure you arrive on time to class, they have no tolerance. Whenever I have a problem, Ms Patricia Paxton always solve my problems. If you ever decide to take cosmetology or nail tech course, Brittany is the sweetest. I truly appreciate Ms Cynthia for helping me how to prepare myself to take the state board exam. If you have any questions Christian will help you out, he is very professional and friendly. I’m looking forward to enroll for another course.
Response: Thanks for your review. We enjoyed having you as a student. You will always be considered a part of the Spectrum family. If you need help in the future, please let us know.

Fine Touch Cuts: Positive: QualityOther than the fact that his academy is black owned I love how attentive the staff and front desk people are when it comes to accommodating students. Of course in life not all things are always perfect but when ever there are bumps in the road they don’t mind being flexible. Great education, great quality, great value.
    Response: Thanks for your support.

Tiara Stringfield: I love Spectrum Academy, I had to leave temporarily for family reasons. I called to get the information to return and finish my course, I was assisted immediately with callbacks on all the information I request and even asked probing questions to make sure I would get everything I needed upon returning. I can't wait to start my online courses again with Spectrum.
Response: Tiara, Thanks for your review. We look forward to your return and helping to shape your future goals.

Tamika Lewis: I'm updating my review to reflect my overall experience to give a more transparent view of my experience. Here are both good and bad that I experienced: Positive: *Online course material allowed me as a working mom to achieve a goal that would have been hard otherwise. *The cost is the lowest you'll find. *Mrs. Brittany was a pleasure to work with and made learning easy. She was flexible and helpful and listened to my concerns. When my state board prep could not be performed by the instructor who is appointed by the school she stepped in and got it done the best way she could. Negative: * ( Mrs. Cynthia) The current, state board prep instruction is unprofessional and rude. she made the experience very difficult. (She had an issue with me, why I have no idea) She was inconsistent and would not respond to messages. I wrote to the owner and asked to discuss my issues which at first were addressed. The issue continued and I had to write to the owner again asking for assistance. The second time she was unavailable but told me someone else would help me. I had to be transferred to another teacher to do state board because of her lack of professionalism. I should have seen that this was going to be a problem, when attending orientation she spoke poorly about another student to me, which I didn't think was cool at all. * The state board questions come from the Milady books. This school doesn't use Milady. You can pass with the books they use but I wish I had known that information so I'm sharing. *Graduation was difficult. I felt as if I had been passed along and disregarded. You want to know, if you pay your money and a school promotes themselves as a family atmosphere with lifetime support that you will get that begining to end. I did not feel that way. I felt unprepared. *When going on an interview I was asked about my school. The schools reputation preceded me. That was a bit embarrassing. Overall if I knew then what I know now, I wouldn't return. My sister is also a licensed professional. In the time it took me to resolve my issues with the school to take state board prep ( which should have finished in a month) and the issue with the instructor to graduate, she ( my sister) started & finished her education (during covid) at a great school and had nothing but wonderful things to say about her program (there are good schools out there). As much as I wanted it to be, that wasn't my experience here. I'm sharing my review (based on documented emails and text messages) because I couldn't find a thorough review on this school that I felt helped me before I paid my money. I hope it's better for others than it was for me.
Response: Tamika, I am sorry you were not pleased with your experience here at Spectrum. (Although, you were here during staff changes and Covid-19). It is our intent for students to learn in a professional environment that promotes learning. We offer a lifetime job placement program and have relationships with many Salon Professionals. So your comment regarding a bad reputation in the industry is puzzling. If you are having issues finding employment, please let us know. We can help. After becoming aware of your issues with Ms. Cynthia, we went out of our way to arrange alternatives and assigned you to another Instructor for your Board Prep. All of your exams including your Final, State Board Prep and practical were passed with high marks. Again I'm sorry that Spectrum was not a good fit for you, but if there is anything that the we can do to help you going forward, please do not hesitate to ask.

Nicolle Davis: My daughter attended this school and finished end of 2018. This was the best decision ever! She received great training in small classroom setting. Ms. Cynthia was an excellent instructor and did everything she promised me, gave my daughter all she needed to be a successful Cosmetologist! Kudos to this school!!!
Response: Nicolle, Thanks for your review. We are happy that your daughter received excellent training at Spectrum. Please let us know if you need our assistance in the future.

Ciarra Catlin: Positive: Professionalism, QualityI enjoyed going to this school, the staff was very understanding of my needs and had great communication. Not only is it a great price but I felt the teachers really cared about my education and were pleasant to work with!
Response: Ciarra, It was our pleasure having you as a student. Please let us know if you need any help in the future.

MR Outdoor: I took a waxing class here last year. They told me , I can take extra class if I miss any class or I can’t pass the exam. Even they called me every day before a due date while I have balnce due of fees. Later on I got pregnant and had baby, so I missed classes but they never called me. They just care money , they don’t care their student. 1 month after I had baby I went there to take class but they ask me full fee again, I told them that I was pregnant and had baby but they didn’t listen. Also , be careful they charge fee differently.
Response: Hi, We have a leave of absence policy that is explained to each student in orientation. You must have a documented LOA to miss classes. Even though, you didn't take the appropriate action, you were still allowed to re-enroll and continue due to your circumstances.

Katie Hoffman: I went in to get a simple trim to my ends and bangs. The student (Veronica, I think) did an excellent job. She listened to what I wanted, took her time, and listened to my feedback to tweak my bangs into the shape I wanted. I'd definitely go back!
Response: Katie, Thanks for your support.

Issa-King Connell: I like it! People complain about stupid stuff on reviews like this because they lack the ability to take account for themselves and their reactions. Get your licenses and go do great things! That’s the end goal period!!
Response: Thank you for the review. We are glad you had a good experience at Spectrum. If there is anything we can assist you with going forward, please don't hesitate to ask.

Chantara Jackson: Critical: Communication, Professionalism, QualityThey are very unprofessional and unorganized. They hardly ever answer their phones. I wouldn't recommend this academy to anyone. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Response: Chandra, I'm sorry about your experience here at Spectrum. Our hours are listed. I'm not sure if you were calling during our breaks, but you can also contact us by email. If there is anything that we can do to assist you going further, please reach out to let us know.

The Neighborhood Barbershop: what do users think?

Nathan Maynes: I love this barber shop. The barbers are all very nice, parking is easy, the online appointment system is super convenient, and they get me in and out quickly. I recommend this place to my friends looking for haircuts with short hair. My barber, Tom, has hair just like me and understands how to deal with it. He is also easy to talk to which makes the experience great. This place does not have TVs going with ESPN or the news humming in the background. Instead, you can hear the sounds of classic punk rock bands playing gently through the sound system. This place is great!
Response: Thank you so much Nathan!

Danielle Trodden: Great place to get a haircut! Everyone here is friendly and welcoming. It's easy to get pulled into the conversation happening around you while you wait for a cut, or like me, while you wait for your partner to get his cut. The time flies and you're left looking forward to the next time you can come in. They're also heavily involved in their community, with charitable initiatives throughout the year that are a lot of fun while giving back (25-hour cut-a-thon, coat drive, etc.). We could not recommend them more! 11/10
Response: Thanks so much Danielle!! We truly appreciate you guys!

Stuart Wilson: I'm normally not very trusting when it comes to letting anyone trim up my beard but this shop was recommended by a friend at Mad Viking Beard Co. and I wasn't disappointed. Definitely have that classic barbershop feel down. Bronwyn took time to make sure the haircut was done right and took exactly the kind of care you expect from a pro. Paid close attention to cleaning up the edges and shaping my beard how I wanted it. Definitely recommend and will be going back. Services: Haircut , Beard trim

Anne S: Really friendly, funky, punky folks! (Four of them are in a local band, False Church; I bought their album and it is hard driving, intricate and rousing. Not my taste but the 4 men in the family really liked it). Bronwyn has done my husband's business haircut for a while now. I went with him recently. I was so impressed with her and the shop I took her first open appointment after the weekend. She stated that she doesn't really do women's hair but I think she did a good job. And my husband even said "She did a really nice job. I think your hair looks good."👍
Response: Thanks so much, Anne, for the kind words and for supporting the business and the band! Cheers!

Auggie Flentje: This is the best place for a hair cut. The staff is very friendly. The atmosphere is old school barber shop mixed with punk rock. The quality of the hair cut/beard trim is the best I've had in years. Thanks! Strongly recommend.

Justin Keys: Hands down best shop I’ve been to. Walked through the front door and was immediately greeted with all smiles and all of the staff were very friendly. Got cut by Bronwyn and she was the greatest! Told her what I wanted, she gave me some awesome feedback, and I got an outstanding haircut. Will definitely be coming back. Highly recommend! Service: Haircut

fmafangrl001: Very gender affirming and lgbtq friendly, I absolutely love them. Was a little hard to find, I think I accidentally drove past them twice, but super friendly staff and very fun conversations. Would absolutely recommend them to friends for sure! I'm so happy with my haircut, its exactly what I wanted! (pronouns are they/them)
    Response: Thank you so much!!

Julio Chirinos: One of the best barbershop in town! The whole atmosphere and service is top notch. You definitely be in good hands over here!
    Response: Thanks so much Julio!

Ron H: Haven't had my beard groomed since February, Bronwyn managed to turn it from a mess to a sharp looking beard in a heartbeat. Very professional, great atmosphere and very reassuring vibe. I'm usually very aware of who's trimming my beard, and can totally say that Bronwyn was extremely professional and effortless in the way she just sorted it out. Highly recommended.

Kansas Foster: Best local barbershop. The guys here are all great at what they do. Comfortable and enjoyable atmosphere. Great haircuts. Wonderful company.

Raphael's Barber Shop: what do users think?

Joel Maiman: Have been coming here for a while, all the barbers are highly competent. Except, today I walk in and get a barber I’ve never seen before. She seemed like she had never cut hair before. Botch very simple short-sides, long on top haircut. I had lines in the side of my head that looked like Neapolitan ice cream. What really gets me is that she had no awareness of her incompetence. It’s one thing to be a novice and communicate that to your client beforehand; but to continue forging ahead when you are clearly not up to the job is disrespectful. She was ready to let me walk out looking ridiculous. Luckily, the barber next to us stopped her and took over, quickly trying to save what she had done. I came here in the past because I could walk in and be confident that the barber I got would give me a great haircut. Sad to learn that this is no longer true.

Roy Pike: I have been coming here for the last 3 or 4 years as my exclusive barber shop. I always try to book with Ebrahim if he is available. He is fantastic. I have also had a couple haircuts with the Russian lady who's name escapes me right now, she is also excellent. I can't speak for any of the other barbers there but I'm very happy with the service I've received. Service: Haircut

Parker Kelley: Great experience here ! When we first walked in, we were greeted and told to take a seat. The wait was about 15-30 min due to 3 people being ahead of me . I never know how to explain my haircut to a new barber but they were able to work with me and my haircut looks great.Service: Haircut

Jonathan Kriebel: I’ve been coming here for the past 3 years and it’s a always a good experience. The environment and clean, friendly and professional. I try to see Steve Gomez when he’s not booked up. This guy does fantastic work: he listens, he’s skilled, and he’s creative. I’ve also worked with Ibrahim and he is a solid choice. I recommend setting a reservation ahead of time on the Booksy app. Services: Haircut , Shave , Straight razor shave , Shape up , Beard trim , Scissor cut

Leslie Lanagan: During the pandemic, I've gone for two haircuts at other salons. Because of only being able to take my mask off one side at a time, neither haircut came out even..... so I just stopped getting it cut altogether and looked like a shaggy dog by the time I found Raphael's. I didn't even know if they took women or not. I just figured they would because my hair is shorter than a lot of men's, anyway. :P My stylist did not give me a card, so unfortunately I cannot recommend him by name- a pity because he did something for me that few stylists have ever been able to match. The cut was perfect. It was superb. What I mean by that is hair product covers up a lot of sins, and I didn't need any at all. I'm so proud of my new look.

Brandon Tewksbury: Ebrahim did a great job on a recent cut. They’re all professional & in an inviting atmosphere. Never a long wait.

Ben Philhower: Steve is an expert in his craft. Highly recommend his work for all hair types

Philip Alipio: [Feb '22] price of basic cut has moved to 28, but still the best barbers in DSS for quality\accuracy and efficiency! Very convenient and popular neighbourhood barber shop, with minimal wait-times and good safety protocols during Covid-times. Vu is a talented and experienced barber who listens to the customer's requests, then responds with professionalism and efficiency. Vu has done great work cutting my hair, using mostly scissors for texture (and then with electric razor for clean-up).

Sean Finnegan: My go-to barber in the DMV. Friendly staff and wait times are usually not long.

Adam Bradley: Similar to another reviewer - nothing but good things to say about the professionalism and attitude of the folks here, but they basically ignore my requests each time I go, resulting in wildly different cuts from the same instructions. Consistently cut way too much off the top despite pretty firm requests. Unfortunate, because their pricing is very competitive and the wait is usually short, but if you want to keep some hair on your head you might want to look elsewhere

The Gentlemen's Quarters: what do users think?

TJ Shanks: For nearly 30 years, I’ve travelled and lived all over the world… In all that time, I failed to find *any* barber experience I’ve felt fully satisfied with… until now. Gentlemen’s Quarters is absolutely everything I could want in a quality barber experience. You’re immediately greeted with a smile and the offer of a drink and a comfortable seat. Great (pleasant and friendly but not overwhelming) conversation, extremely skilled barbers, warm towels, straight razor cuts, hair washes… you name it, GQ has it! I got my first cut with Rocco, and he was absolutely incredible. The treatment, cut, and overall quality *more* than justifies the price. I’ve finally found my lifetime barber!! Service: Haircut
Response: Thank you for your kind words TJ! It was our pleasure.

Phil Hergert: Scheduling online was was easy. Showed up to get my mess of a pandemic beard trimmed and looking good. Was not disappointed! I'll definitely be back in the near future. Location is great, many other shops, restaurants, coffee shops within walking distance to hit up before or after your appointment.Service: Beard trim
    Response: Thanks Phil!

Patrick Landis: An absolute must for men's grooming needs in OT. Comfortable, great staff, a complimentary drink to take the edge off a long day, good conversation, great cut + warm facial towel and massage. What more do you need? We've been coming for awhile now and no plans to stop. Elizabeth is an icon, the rest of the staff are great too. We look forward to every visit. 10/10 every time. Service: Haircut
    Response: Thanks Patrick 😊

Ryan Harris: Excellent location with a really cool vibe. Scheduling an appointment online was easy. Arrived 10 minutes early and was immediately guided upstairs, where I was offered a drink. Nice touch. Elizabeth was awesome and was far more skilled than the 4 other barbers I have been to in this town. The service included a cut, shampoo, conditioning, warm shaving cream razor, blow dry, and styling product. Everyone was kind and relaxed. Things to know: 1. Twice as expensive as other barbers in town but also twice as good and you don’t walk out covered in hair, feeling itchy and like you need to take a shower 2. They do not accept Amex (found out the hard way) 3. There is no option to tip if you pay with card, so you need to bring cash (wish I had known ahead of time since I do not carry cash) — would be nice if they all had Venmo QR codes or something! Service: Haircut
Response: Ryan thanks for your patronage and your advice! Thanks for taking the time out of your day to spend with us!

Ian Brown: I can't speak highly enough of this establishment. The experience, treatment, service, and hospitality are top notch. Does it cost more than your traditional barber, yes; but you get so much more than just a superlative haircut at the Gentleman's Quarters. You owe it to yourself to try it! You will not be disappointed.Services: Scissor cut, Beard conditioner, Haircut, Beard trim, Straight razor shave
Response: Thanks Ian! See you again soon.

M Stojakovich: I moved to the area in November and have been trying to find a good barber. If you're struggling, then look no further. Best haircut I've had since moving here, and one of the best in general. I'll definitely be coming back
Response: Thanks Melvin. Looking forward to seeing you soon.

Anthony Sgambellone: I have been going to The Gentlemen's Quarters for years. Place is always clean. Staff is friendly and the make you feel at home. Making a reservation is easy and they send email reminders when your appointment is approaching. Turia is the best! She is so friendly and does a great job for you. Cant say enough good things about her and this place. They offer so many services. You should check it out. Services: Waxing , Pedicures
Response: Anthony thanks for the kind words and for your continued support 🙏

Joseph Benitez: So the staff that actually perform all the treatments are absolutely great. I cannot say enough good things about them. I’ve never had a bad experience with them; Fifi especially is wonderful. However, I have to say the front desk attendants I’ve dealt with there constantly come across as rude and very uninviting. Last week I was there on a Wednesday afternoon and received a facial treatment and when I asked about leaving a tip with my credit card the woman waved me off and sounded annoyed at me for even asking almost like she was scolding me. I’m not an employee there I’m a client so I found that type of response to be incredibly unprofessional especially since I just spent over a hundred dollars that day and have been going there for years. Service: Pedicures
Response: Thanks so much Joseph. Looking forward to seeing you soon.

Don Grant Kelly: I look forward to haircuts at Gentlemen's Qtrs. Staff is great...atmosphere consistently positive, upbeat and relaxing. A steaming towel to the face and stimulating shampoo bring instant stress relief... followed by a consistently excellent haircut coupled with a conversation instantly picked up where we left it weeks before. I have no doubt GQ employs a number of popular and talented professionals, but for me it's "Lindsay." She freshens my look and my spirit with every visit. Service: Haircut
Response: Thank you Bob. We always look forward to seeing you!

Scott Berg: I have been a customer of The Gentlemen's Quarters for years and can't sing their praises high enough. All their barbers are excellent, Stephen Windor who cuts my hair is a pro's pro. He is thoughtful, listens to what I want, and then does a much better job with my hair and slightly unruly beard than I ever imagined. I always get 'did you lose weight' after my haircuts... not cheap but well worth it for the white glove/hot towel service... best I've ever found. Must be because we moved to Baltimore but still drive there for monthly haircuts! Services: Haircut , Beard trim
Response: Scott thank you for your kind words! Always my pleasure!

Amy Camire: Miss Jessica is an absolute wonder with mixed curl type hair! I’ve struggled my whole life to find a haircut like hers. Prices are amazing and Jessica is funny and kind. Love this little shop!Service: Haircut

John Johnson: Fantastic and fast haircuts. Don't waste money or time anywhere else!

Bill On: Above comment is in error. Haircut has never been $20. Regular $16 seniors $15Good people good barbers. I’ve been going their for 20 years. Not changing.

Oscar Martinez: Really professional people works there😎

Tucker Wells: best haircut i’ve ever had!! been going for 30 years and love it!!!

Gerry Cartagena: Hi and his wife give a good haircut the others I dont know..if you want something done correctly, ask the right barber that can do the job who has years of experience, that goes for the mustache beard etc. Dont be afraid to ask? your paying for it. Dont complain afterwards.

David Meese: Great job! Will be my regular barber

Roosters Men's Grooming Center: what do users think?

Brahim Tesla: It’s really hard to find a convenient barber that can both understand your unique style and provide a suitable haircut. Likely for me, I was fortunate enough to find this amazing barbershop in my neighborhood. I always book with barber Farid, he is absolutely amazing and astonishingly great at what he does by being so professional and friendly simultaneously. I, now, always directly choose his services as he never disappoints with the result of the outcome. I would definitely recommend giving him a chance as I am sure you’ll never look elsewhere. We have built such a great bond together and I can’t imagine myself booking with anyone else.
Response: Thank you for your feedback and we appreciate your patronage.

Ke Xu: I have been coming to this place for haircut for almost 3 years now. Serenity has always done great job cutting my hair! If you are Asian and want top-notch haircut, Serenity is the go-to-person. She will work with you to figure out your best hairstyle. Overtime you don’t even have to say anything and she remembers your hairstyle and will just start cutting. Really professional!
Response: Thanks for the feedback and we appreciate your patronage.

Gary Seybold: New to the area so I needed a place to get my hair cut. Since Roosters was very close I decided to try them out. Making the appointment via their website was easy and convenient. I arrived a few minutes early not knowing what to expect. There was no one at the front desk but a stylist just told me to have seat - not much of a welcome! My stylist came over after about 5 minutes, introduced herself and walked me over to her station. She asked me what I was looking for and started cutting. She was very pleasant and spoke throughout my appointment. My haircut was great and done within the 30 minute time slot. I’ll come back given the convenient location.
Response: Thank you for your feedback and we appreciate your patronage

Diego Perea: I had started getting my haircut (fine, not great but convenient) here recently but twice now their system double booked the appointments and whenever I go they can't get to me. The second time I called to confirm the appointment and make sure they'd be able to do it. The best thing about this place is its convenience which is now gone. If you value your time, don't go here.
Response: I sincerely apologize for the issue. We have been having problems with our system. We are hoping to get a new system which will be far superior to the one that we are forced to use. Again sincerely apologize for the inconvenience

Ty Ackerman: This is a salon that caters to the male client. When I think of a standard “barbershop” I think of it being very limited in terms of services and basically only offers haircuts and shaving. I would consider this a salon due to the fact that each hair cutting station has it’s own built in sink right behind the chair for washing your hair and conditioning it during the cutting service. Being that this business caters to the male client, they have a shaving cream warmer for the back of your neck and uses a straight razor to get a super close cut for the hairs on the back of your neck- and this is included in the standard haircut. I called in the evening (maybe around 6-7pm) asking if I was able to get a haircut that night and they were happy to squeeze me in at 8:30pm even though they were closing at 9:00pm, which was super awesome. Something that really stood out to me in a wonderful way was when another employee walked up to my stylist as she was cutting my hair and said to me, “I’m going to talk to her in Vietnamese for just a second, but I don’t want you to think I’m talking about you” which just made me feel like they really cared how I (as their client) felt and that they wanted me to be comfortable and feel welcomed. I wouldn’t have been offended in the first place, but just the fact that she addressed me in the first place made me feel welcomed and that they cared about what I thought. I would have to say that Rooster’s has gained a long-term client in me because I was so impressed with my first experience with them. You guys are great! I can’t wait to come back!
Response: Thanks for your feedback and your detailed comments. This tells us that the little/big things that we care or address, do matter, and our customers do notice them. Thanks again

Dave: This place lost me as a customer before I even got my hair cut. I came in today trying to do a walk in around 3:00pm and they were busy so the offered me an appointment at 4:30pm. I accepted it and went home. I came back to this shop at 5 minutes prior to my appointment. The stylist that I had my appointment with told me that she was double booked. The front desk person booked me for 4:30pm and someone else went in and made an online appointment, so they decided to put me lower on the priority. I asked the stylist how long would it take before I could be seen and she told me 20 minutes. I reluctantly accepted. Then I saw the stylist ask another stylist to squeeze me in. I heard another stylist say “lucky he’s willing to take on someone else.” I had a feeling that I was not going to been seen in 20 minutes. Then the front desk person ask me to come up and pay in advance so she could close out the cash drawer since I would be there after their closing time. I told her that I would pay after I receive the hair cut. Overall for a place that was going to charge me $40 for a haircut, I expected that they would keep the appointment I made with them. I wasted an hour of travel time making two trips to this location, and another 20 minutes of sitting there after they had the gall to try and have me pay up front before I receive the service. I really dislike having my time wasted, and if I was told upfront that they were too busy and they wouldn’t be able to see me today I would have been okay with that. Also they had my contact info as well so if they did their due diligence and saw they double booked I could have been told prior to making the second trip up.
Response: I sincerely apologize for your experience. We are trying to resolve double booking issue. Actually we are moving to a new software which is best in class. So we are hoping to avoid double booking going forward. Having said that it is not an excuse for your experience and for that I sincerely apologize

Anthony Reindhardt: I went here three times. 1st and 2nd visits got great results. On my last visit I chose the woman who cut my hair and shaved me on my second visit. Sadly she rushed the process telling I should book double the time. I have no issues paying the price and tipping for their service. But the bad job that was done on my third visit turned me off. I would never go back. The service I received on my third visit from hairstylist was not acceptable. Services: Haircut , Beard trim , Shave
Response: Sincerely apologize for your experience. It would help us if you could describe what we did well in the first two visits. BTW our every service is 30 mins and sometimes customers add service at the last min. I understand that the stylist could have said no but they want to make sure the customer leaves happy and in that they forget that they are late for the next customer. Again sincerely apologize for your experience

Chafik Douzi: Great barbershop. They have an amazing environment with an incredible team.I was welcome by Farid , He understood exactly what I wanted and he is super friendly and talkative person. Its a clean shop and the overall service was excellent . I recommend the service and I am really pleased .Service: Haircut
Response: Thank you for your feedback and we appreciate your patronage

David Drawbaugh: Do not let Farid cut your hair. Despite giving him clear, detailed instructions about what I wanted, and showing him several reference photos, he gave me the worst haircut I have ever received in my adult life. It was shockingly, laughably bad, and not at all what I asked for. I’ve been a regular patron of this barbershop for nearly two years, and have received some good haircuts there (particularly from Diane and Serenity), but I will not be coming back because of Farid. You have lost a loyal customer because of Farid.
Response: David can you let me know what day you visited our place? I do not see your name on our computer records.

sergio jurado: I been getting my haircut and they have never failed me. I would recommend Diana if it’s your first time.
Response: Thank you for your feedback and we appreciate your patronage

Diego's Hair Salon: what do users think?

Richard M: Most of the stylists there are really good. They will offer wash and eyebrow/eat detail. Cash only place. Probably the best service you can get for $30 in the Dupont area.

Terry Jodrie: Elizabeth is outstanding! I went in with a ponytail and ready for a haircut. I was apprehensive. She gave me the best haircut I have ever had in my life!Service: Haircut

first name last name: Quality of hairdressing is not as good as before and service is becoming rude. Also now they increase price to 30 plus tips, it is getting pricy for a simple haircut.

Edward Grandi: Diego's tradition of tonsorial excellence carries on even now that he is no longer living. Always busy but they will squeeze in if you ask nicely. Oh, cash is king or in this case queen.

Benjamin Lauer: For over a decade I have relied on Diego's for my regular haircuts, always enjoying the camaraderie and banter between my faithful stylist and Diego himself, who took care of clients in the chair next to the one I sat in. My stylist retired during this pandemic and Diego himself cut my hair twice this summer once I was comfortable going to a barbershop again. Today when I called about an appointment the call taker informed me that Diego passed away last Friday, October 22, 2021. He was a warm and spirited person, and will be deeply missed. All the staff members who ever stepped in and cut my hair when my own stylist was out did a great job and I am sure it would have made Diego happy to see them continue to be patronized by a supportive community of fans even now that he is no longer there.

Vaibhav Hans: Amazing place to get your haircut. They truly care, and have great attention to detail. Cash-only, still the same $25 quality cut. Definitely a DC staple!

J Foodgeek: the price recently went up to $30 after Diego passed away and the sons took over. It still cash or checks only. _---++ Good old school cash only barbershop. $25 for men's cut. Has been open like 60+ years and Diego is still there cutting hair. Great value.

Nigel Gould-Davies: Came here many times during my US stay. Always reliable and excellent value. They are all good, and Esmi is great.

Robert: Awesome! I tried many different barber shops after moving to DC and have had some terrible experiences. My luck changed today when I stopped by Diego's. It was a crowded Saturday, yet I only waited 5 minutes. They made sure they clearly understood the style I want before starting. They even gave me the choice of a haircut by scissors or electric cutter. Everyone, including the other customers, was really friendly. I especially liked the ambiance of the shop with the soft Latin music playing, the photos on the walls, and the multi-lingual conversations going on. And the price was very average and reasonable for DC. I'll definitely be returning to Diego's next time.

Santiago Bonilla: I've come here ever since I've moved to the area and couldn't be happier with their service. All of the stylists and professionals and I've never gotten a bad cut. This hair salon is a staple of the community and for good reason. Fantastic hair cuts for a very reasonable price, what's not to like?

Groomed by Haye: what do users think?

J Humbliyah: First thing I will say is this isn't a regular barber shop style place. The service is a bit more personalized and high end so you'll pay more. With that addressed I enjoyed my experience here. I have a moderate beard so it is hard to find people who can shape it properly. Orville keeps his shop very clean and presentable which is even more important in this covid world. I was satisfied with how I looked and appreciated the immense advice Orville shared with me and answered all my questions. I will definitely go back!
Response: We do things a bit differently here. When our clients schedule an appointment, we want them to know we're doing the most to keep our shop clean, so we're glad you appreciate our hard work. If you ever need any advice or another appointment, please give us a call! Have a great day. -GROOMED by Haye

Matt Steele: Orville is a master at his craft. This was my first time at his shop and I couldn't be happier. Despite me having to cancel (twice!) due to work he was happy to accommodate and helped me find a time that worked. He checked my temperature at the door and wore a mask the whole time. The grooming experience itself was fantastic, and I walked out with exactly the look I was hoping for.
Response: Our clients will always walk out with the look they want, Matt. We understand life happens, and we'll work with our clients to get them in for a time that works for them. Looking forward to seeing you again! -GROOMED by Haye

Dakota Jacobs: Had I more hair to cut, I'd go back to Groomed by Haye. Not because I can, but because I would be made to feel welcome once again. First "star". Second star: to describe Orville's approach in one word I'd use "meticulous." My hair was in such a state that the shape of my head underneath was undeterminable apparently - I did not take this personally. Orville took the time to survey and assess and because I scheduled the time we had the time. Third, fourth, fifth and beyond the stars: if I were staying in the area, I'd be happy having now a reliable barber. Because I'm not, dear reader, I can only apply what I've learned here to the future; that I've been doing "hair cuts" wrong this whole time. Now I know what to look for. If you want it done right, see about giving some time to Groomed by Haye. If you're unhappy with your current approach, know that Orville will do it right. I only wish I'd gotten the name of that shampoo.

Apratim Sathe: Orville Haye is truly a master of his craft. The barbershop itself is extremely clean and cultured. It has a positive mellow vibe due to the artwork and music. He is extremely attentive and detail-oriented and makes sure he gives you the cut you want every time. His diverse clientele shows that he welcomes all types of customers. (Check out his IG page to see his work) Orville is also a great example of someone adapting to the COVID situation the right way - he checks your temperature before you walk in and takes all the necessary safety precautions administered by Maryland state health guidelines. Easily the best barber in the DMV!!! His reviews speak for themselves. Tip: Because of this, he fills up FAST. Make sure to book appointments online in advance.
Response: We like our clients to walk in to a mellow environment where they can get the cut they've been wanting. It makes us happy knowing you appreciated how adamant we are about maintaining safety procedures! See you again soon. -GROOMED by Haye

Gabriel Ramos: As a first time customer, I was very happy with the service. Very friendly and comfortable environment. Lex was awesome! Explained that I was looking for a new barber and was very welcoming. Asked a lot of questions in order to get my ideal haircut style. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a new barber. Parking is right in front of the shop. Easy to find when following directions.
Response: Hello Gabriel, Thanks for coming and we appreciate the review. We aim to provide a great experience . it’s great when you get the feed that shows we are meeting our clients standards. Glad we are able to provide you with an awesome Groomer like Lex.

Shannon Jones: Positive: Cleanliness, Professionalism, Punctuality, Quality, ValueMy son has been smiling all day from his recent haircut by Orville. He hadn’t had a cut for 5mths since Covid-19 so we were impressed with the outcome. One of the reasons I selected this shop is due to the cleanliness and the professionalism. Highly recommend!
Response: This is what we love to see, Shannon! So glad your son was smiling from ear to ear with his haircut. You can always depend on us for a clean cut! Let us know if your son would like to book with us again. -GROOMED by Haye

Ryan Flynn: Decided on Groomed by Haye based off of reviews. Made an appointment through the website with ease. The shop is tucked away behind the post office, but has a very welcoming feel to it. Sai was very friendly, and asked questions throughout to ensure I got the cut that I wanted. She took pictures outside of the shop afterwards, which was fun (but I am far from a model). Fantastic first experience, and I will definitely be returning! I highly recommend to all!
Response: Hello Ryan, thank you for the great review.. we are glad you enjoyed your grooming experience and we look forward to seeing you again.

J AMBUSH: Awesome barber studio! Very professional and classy place. Great environment for my children to come and get there haircuts. The barbers at this shop all do great work highly recommend you try them out.
Response: Thank you Jon.. we appreciate your support and look forward to continuing to provide you and yours with the best possible service.

Willie Greene: Have been to a lot of barbers but never in my life have a made an appointment (that was confirmed almost a week in advance) and then show up to an empty, locked barbershop. Waited 20 minutes in the freezing cold and my calls were ignored. Don't waste your time at this place, find another barber that values it's customers and respects their time.
Response: Hello Mr. Greene, We apologize for the unfortunate mixup. With today being a snow day for My children my schedule had to be tweaked a bit. I was trying to get someone to assist me with my children until my wife got home but I was unable to do so. Unfortunately when I tried to call you I saw you only left your email address on our booking system . I did email you but obviously you never received it..This is not unusual for a 1st time guest to leave limited contact info. Until they are more comfortable to give more. But it put us in a difficult position when an emergency arise and changes have to be made to schedule. Also, the line you must have been calling is our business # so that was the reason there was no response. Let us know what we can do to correct this matter.

Simon Conte: Orville Haye and his team are tucked away in a Gaithersburg side street, but it's well worth your time to find him. I had to get my beard completely trimmed and reshaped for a job interview, and Orville didn't let me down. He takes things step by step, checks for input, doesn't rush, and clearly knows what he's doing around a beard (one need only look at his own impressive beard!) Highly recommended. I'll be going back to him for beard maintenance.
Response: We are glad you found us ... thanks for the review.

Baltimore Beauty & Barber School: what do users think?

lakea burke: I would say that this place is very professional. For my first experience I would say it was great . The young lady who did my hair did a fantastic job . Her name is Alesha . She took her time and really focus on her style. Her instructor also did a great job supervising/teaching her . I was very happy and please with her service. I will definitely go back again . 😀

Katrina Jones: I’ve attended this school for cosmetology. The school stay clean , even the bathrooms and classrooms , and they are very well organized. When I first started it was a little frustrated because the teacher at the time would show favoritism between the students. Then she was fired and we had 2 teachers enter the building. All I can say is that they are 2 of the most wonderful teachers I’ve had. They respect their students, and they believe in their students. I would recommend this school for anybody who’s looking to become a cosmetologist or a barber . Ms.Pam & also Ms.Ro the cosmetology tears her for the seniors I miss y’all so much , Thank you for believing in me.

Nadene Lachlan: I don't like to say anything bad about people because I am all for people trying to better themselves. I was thinking about enrolling my daughter in this school but immediately turned off when I stopped by to check it out. The place was grossly unorganized. From the parking lot to inside the school, the neighborhood and school gives a creepy vibe. It just felt intensely out of control and lacking structure. The staff does not come across as polished or professional just a bad untamed environment not conducive for learning. The admission and enrollment guy comes across as somewhat aggressive and pushy trying to pressure me to make a decision. It felt more like a car salesman interaction and they should give people a chance to really feel the place out instead of aggressively overselling themselves. I did not have the heart to tell them this is not a good match for my daughter but I believe it needs to be said to hopefully save others from getting their hopes up. I really had anticipated the reviews were accurate but after visiting this place, I believe they either write their own reviews or standards are questionable. Going back to the neighborhood, I forgot to mention I noticed there was a good bit of what appeared to be recovery clients from the nearby addiction center hanging way too close to the school. It was heartbreaking to see one really frail man in a wheelchair looking lost a few other shady people wandering asking for money. The school is a great concept but needs a lot of work, new community and at least a professional greeter, more control over students and this school also seemed to lack diversity which might help I guess. I understand the need to cater to everyone but this was just really untamed in every sense. Hopefully they care enough about the business to get it together because it could benefit this style community or maybe they're content with their population.

Natasha McConnell: The Baltimore Beauty and Barber School is fantastic!! The school is conveniently located in the Golden Ring Plaza, right across the street from the Aldi's food market and from the outside in the place and people are wonderful. Pulling up you see a huge building with a big "BALTIMORE BEAUTY & BARBER SCHOOL" sign and the parking lot has plenty of parking. Walking in I was greeted by a young lady, Aniah who has a personality that can light up the entire building. She was knowledgable, respectful, accommodating, and was very patient considering how busy she was and how many questions my daughter and I had for her. She had a line building up behind us, she had other people and staff asking things of her but she found a way to juggle it all and still make everybody happy. I truly admire her professionalism and as for first impressions go, she was off the charts amazing! We got there around 11:30AM and the place was already pretty busy but they were moving costumers along surprisingly quick for how many people were in the lobby. We waited about 5 mins and were able to be seen. The best part about the place is the atmosphere. The students and staff are so welcoming and professional, they made me feel like the center of attention the entire time I was there. Its one of those places that even when your done your service, you still want to hang out and enjoy the fun. You can tell the students genuinely enjoy being there and the staff genuinely enjoy teaching their students. When you have quality staff that enjoys their job, it rubs off on the students because the entire building is radiating with positive energy and makes for such a welcoming and fun environment. Lastly and probably the most important is the cleanliness of the building. The entire time I was there, they had a maintenance man cleaning the building. He was wiping the mirrors, cleaning the windows, cleaning the bathrooms, etc. The cleanliness of the building went above and beyond and that also shows the owners and staff actually care about their place of work. The only minor problem I have with the school is that we are not allowed to make appointments and that they operate on a walk-in only basis. They explained perfectly well why they operate like this and its solely for the benefit of the students (I love that they actually care about the students) but it would still be nice to be able to set appointments. My daughter and I have been to this school 3 times now and each time has been as pleasant as the last. The school left such a lasting impression on my daughter, she is seriously considering signing up with no previous interest in becoming a hair stylist. Thank you Baltimore Beauty & Barber School, we will definitely be back! P.S. They are always doing all sorts of specials, free haircuts, Holiday discounts, back to school haircuts for kids, etc.

Christopher Powell: See miss Swan. Outstanding Barber with Great Skill... My cut is on point and beautiful. Professional! I'm HAPPY!!!🌹😄

Alex Anderson: Baltimore finally has a legit barber school!! I've been looking for years and have checked out other barber schools in the area and I have always been disappointed. I can say with certainty I found a legit school and they offer Financial Aid which is the only school in baltimore I could find that offers financial aid for barbers. The guy who enrolled me was awesome, he answered every question I had and best of all he walked me through the Financial Aid step by step and made the process unbelievably easy. What really caught my eye was the teachers and the genuine excitement the students were having. I talked with some of the students and they all had nothing but good things to say. The school is huge and set up perfectly and it was very clean. You can tell the people here know what they're doing and they actually care.

Chiweta Obimgba: Positive: Communication, Professionalism, QualityNot gonna lie every time I’ve come here for a cut it comes out look clean 👍🏾👍🏾 And I like how the barber introduce their self to you

OnlyOne Dez: My boy Scooby the best barber student

Charlene Lane: Excellent free haircut today for boys he look very handsome they do a good job

Primus Jones: Critical: CommunicationWas told to come back after their lunch which was at 1:00. Then when I arrived I was told that I was supposed to come at 12:00 which was the start of their lunch.
