Hill Country Barbecue Market: what do users think?

Sassy Sauce: We love Hill Country and the food is consistently good each visit. One caveat for this visit though, I remember the Mac and cheese being a lot better than what it was this particular evening. It was still good but maybe it wasn’t as good as I remembered. There was a hockey game in the city tonight and this was a good treat before game time. The restaurant had good seating and the bar area had plenty of seats left. Overall I really enjoy the food and would go back for sure!

Amanda Turcotte: Great Texas BBQ in the heart of DC. The service here is topnotch. We were greeted warmly and shown to a table right away. We were also asked if we had dined at Hill Country before and when we said we had not, the hostess politely informed us of how the ordering process works, which was really helpful. The staff preparing the meat were friendly and engaged us in conversation while they prepared our plates. There are several types of meat to choose from....brisket, sausage, chicken, etc. All were really good. The chicken was more moist than almost any other bbq place I have visited in DC and Texas. They have every side you can think of as well. I highly recommend the bourbon mashed sweet potato, chili, and deviled eggs. The cornbread is pretty good too....honey butter is delish. They offer margarita pitchers, which are really good, just be sure to sit in the bar area if you want to take advantage of the happy hour specials. They also have another large dance club space in the basement, where it looks like they have live bands. Overall, we had a great time and would comeback. Thanks!

Emilie K: I love this spot. It’s cafeteria styled. The brisket sandwich is always so on point. When my husband worked in the area, he would eat here every week. Now we always stop by for a sandwich combo whenever are we in this side of town! You won’t be disappointed. Employees are always friendly!

Da-Wang Wu: To be honest, I enjoyed the dining environment more than the food. The place was pretty large with a lot of interesting decorations. The hot link and the chicken were both delicious, but the beef was okay. The mashed potato was pretty good as well. It’s a nice place for casual dining with friends!

Jessica R: Good barbecue and very friendly staff. Lots of food for your money. Ordering is a little confusing if you’ve never been before. Food was quick and tasty. I got the brisket sandwich with a side of Mac and cheese and an extra side of the deviled eggs. The deviled eggs could have used a little more flavor, but everything else was great. Also I wasn’t sure if there were more sauce options than what was on the table but I would have liked more variety of barbecue sauces like other places I have been.

Christopher: Great brisket sandwich. Cafeteria style ordering for food, then server bring food & takes drink order. Sandwich was big & delicious. Chili was great also

Rocklands Barbeque and Grilling Company: what do users think?

Kristen Goode: Solid western Carolina style bbq. Friendly and efficient staff. Great experience. As an Alabama girl, I’m always a little hesitant of bbq outside of the south — Rocklands definitely passed the test. The 3 meat dinner was enough food for two of us.

Stephanie Botsford: Glover park team is A-mazing and very caring♥️ Dr. Carlos the manager saved my afternoon by recommending me the best ribs in town and help regain my energy back after a long day of work. Please do not hesitate to stop by and enjoy the best BBQ in the District🌸 They never dissapoint

Freddie: So glad we found this place, we are visiting from out of town and the service here is excellent and this is the best BBQ place my family and I have ever been too, the full rack beef ribs and BBQ chicken and a bunch of sides is what we ordered and it was AMAZING! The prices are really good as well. The staff were really nice. Highly appreciated and highly recommend!

Kyle Durant: Excellent food! Greatly enjoyed the chopped pork sandwich with mac n cheese and baked beans.

Kindred Cocoa: Their sides are solid. The meat is tender and well prepared. Their sauce is not too sweet. Highly recommend...and I do love BBQ btw. A solid 8/10Collard greens, cornbread, baby back ribs, and fried okra were amazing!

Nick Gigineishvili: I like to play by a rule of thumb with bbq places. If the mac and cheese is bad, don’t even try the meat(pause). The mac and cheese here is OUTSTANDING, the creamy factor is creamin, it’s thick but not too thick. Don’t even get me started about the meat, everything so tender and flavorful. It’s so easy to mess up brisket, every other place has dry and gross brisket. Not this place, so juicy and flavorful. The pulled chicken and pork are out of this world. 10/10 would recommend.

Tesha Blair: Rockland’s Barbecue is seriously the best! Everything from their barbecue to any of their many side items are incredible!

Kenneth Boozer: The barbecue was moist and perfectly cooked. Sauce was delicious. Great smoked flavor. Sides were also good. We will definitely reorder this barbecue.

Smoke & Barrel: what do users think?

David Vincent: Great service and atmosphere downstairs. The menu is really good value. The food was delicious and it really would be good to try more. It was so good that we went back a couple of days later and sat upstairs. We tried different stuff and it all tasted great, the prices are really good here too. We were happy to meet the owner who was happy to look after us. The dessert was delicious.

Larry “Big Schlim” Mcleod: I’m casually scrolling through one of my social media feeds looking at different delectable foods. I come across a bbq joint that says they have a deep fried MOONPIE!! I look closer & it just so happens that this place is in D.C.!! Located in the heart of Adams Morgan at 2471 18th you’ll find @beerbbqbourbon !! . . . Being who I am…I’m not just getting a moonpie. By the looks of their menu I honestly wanted to get everything. For starters they have smoked chicken wings, smoked VEGAN chicken wings, Nachos (with nacho cheese, Pico de Gallo, Ranchero beans, and jalapeños that you can put turkey, pork, or brisket on), and breaded, deep-fried cheese curds. They have a vegan smoked pork roast sandwich, Sloppy Joe sandwich they call a “Sloppy Cue”, and of course pulled pork and brisket sandwiches. They have sausage, turkey, pork, and even vegan pepper steak plates that come with cornbread and a side. Sides include fries, fried okra, slaw, and sweet potato fries. For dessert they got a lemon mascarpone cake, and a fried sweet potato doughnut!! . . . So I copped a smoked turkey sandwich (pictured with pickles, raw onion, cornbread, and their Smokey Sweet bbq sauce $12). STAMP!! Everything Georges Schlim New soooo well with the sandwich. The The crispness of the onion, the tartness of the pickle, the sweetness of the sauce, and the tenderness of the turkey. Well done!! The cornbread, beans were decent. Next up I got the sliced brisket plate (pictured with the same aforementioned toppings but their Slow Burn bbq sauce $12). The brisket was flavorful, tender, and delicious, and the sauce was tangy HOT goodness!! Lastly I snatched up what I went there for…that deep fried MOONPIE!! STAMP STAMP!! Geesh this thing was good. It was a sweet, crispy pancake coated, gooey, chocolate, marshmallow piece of heaven!! THIS IS A MUST HAVE!! I have to mention that they have a couple full bars there , filled with the finest bourbon in the city!! . . . Customer service was on point (although they almost let me walk off without my sides, napkins, and utensils), online ordering was easy, the establishment was clean, but parking is no bueno. Try this spot. Trust. That’s it. #bigschlimsreviews #bbq #deepfriedmoonpie #deliciousness #smokedturkey #brisket #slowburnbbqsauce #smokeysweetbbqsauce #Adamsmorgan #musthave #thatsit

Ioana Balas: This place proves that you can totally enjoy vegan barbecue! The vegan sampler is a must try: pork, turkey, pepper steak and wings, all seasoned well, great texture, you are getting a truly delectable experience. And if that wasn’t enough, there is an incredibly vast choice of beers, including sours, friendly stuff, fun music, everything you might want on a night out!

Christina Helain: The best staff around and really great food. As a vegetarian, I love being able to participate in BBQ here. Dante and Steve behind the bar are super attentive and cool. Great chill spot in Adam’s Morgan.

PITMASTERS BACK ALLEY BBQ: what do users think?

irfan ozarslan: Wow! Ladies and gentlemen, you have to be Houdini to find this place. Thank God I had one next to me. It was in our backyard and we had no idea. We accidentally ran into it. Boy, are you in for a surprise. This place looks like Ripley’s Believe It Or Not but the food is incredible. We ordered the Austin Brisket Sandwich and the Broasted Perch Sandwich along with the baked beans and the Mason Dixon fried okra as additional sides. It was incredible. The brisket melts in your mouth. Fried okra I love you. The baked beans with morsels of pork and bacon made me speechless. The tarter sauce and cole slaw were fabulous and the mother-in-law slaw had the wickedness of my former mother-in-law. I have never seen fries like the Texas Sidewinders. Crispy on the outside and light and fluffy on the inside. When I opened my box, the sidewinders portion was so generous I thought I was about to be surrounded by Turkish dervishes. So I had to immediately start consuming them before they started twirling around me. Folks, the hole-in-the wall ambiance might scare you as you enter. But, please be brave and take that extra step. You won’t regret it. The young man who took our order and the rest of his crew worked well together, like a fine Swiss watch. Thank you Houdini for not making it impossible to find one of the finest bbq joints in town.

Al G Nau: Take out place only. Great delicious meats. Sometimes they forget to include a side. Some items require 2 hour lead time. You can buy sodas the or water when picking up. Alley has 2 spots parking for pick up.

Vicki: Got the pulled pork sandwich with coleslaw and mac. Everything was good. The pickles were delicious and the sauces they had were good too. Staff was friendly.

Besa Rizvanolli: Best brisket in town. We eat here very often, and always have a great experience.

Owen Taylor: Probably the best beef brisket I’ve had in DC. Even more impressive though - they’ve been donating meals to folks in the Petworth community who are struggling. Go support Cinder BBQ!

Peter Cooke: Fantastic barbeque. Best in DC. The beef rib special on Saturday is a reason to eat there alone. The wings (flash fried, then smoked) are also outstanding.

Porscha H: Its confirmed Im eaten more chicken. Wings were LIFE everything right about a dry rub. Tangy sauce fav pair. Chili wuz ight! Going to try something new next time. I was drooling at other plates..😋

Carla, n r6 W.: Purchased 2 lbs of brisket for a party buffet. Served 10 light eaters with a pound leftover. Everyone enjoyed it.

Fat Pete's BBQ: what do users think?

José FERREIRO (ホセ フェレイロ): Very nice place for BBQ 🍗🍖. A bit dark for me during rhe day. A full wall of TVs ( baseball, indy car , English’s premiere league) on the walls. Wide range of beers and even choice for wines 🍷. Waiter pleasant and checking everythig was ok. Parking not so easy 🅿️. Need to say i do not know well the neighborhood.

Jason Lin: First time here, left with an overall good impression. Good food and attentive staffs. I do recommend the double smoked pork belly bites, a good appetizer to prepare your palate for what’s to come. I got half rack of the baby back ribs, it wasn’t the best I’ve ever had, but it’s pretty good. The meat was tender and almost falling off the bone. And their potato salad was good too.

Van Norn: Very subtle place. Clean design and easy access, near the national zoo. Food is solid for a bbq place. For me I had the brisket melt sandwich with a side of hush puppies and a house salad w/ balsamic vinaigrette dressing. The brisket was soft and tender, being a southerner, it was missing some more flavoring for my taste...added a bit of the vinaigrette and it had a nice bite. The house salad was simple and good and the dressing was just right and not to glaring. The hush puppy was not my favorite as it was dense and a bit bland for me. Overall good experience.

Heather Holman: Amazing! We stopped in for lunch after visiting the zoo. Immediately welcomed by PJ. It was pretty busy and my boyfriend and I grabbed a couple seats at the bar. I got the Burnt Ends Grilled Cheese and he got the Brisket platter. Both were SO good, juicy and tender. I really can’t decide if the food or customer service was better. Wish I lived here so I could come in everyday.

Nicole Wheelock: Great food and service! Two of us enjoyed the burnt ends grilled cheese. Two of us enjoyed the pulled pork sandwich with their sweet sauce and their spicy sauce. The chicken wings with the sweet sauce were also delicious!

Brie W.: This is really high up on our list for BBQ. Definitely recommend to anyone looking for a happy tummy! The sausage is awesome. The brisket is amazing. Just order a little of everything! Also can I just add that David is the nicest person ever?? He has AMAZING customer service!!

Philippe Jacques Kradolfer: Federalist Pig, a "hole in the wall" kind of a place is definitely a great option for a fantastic BBQ. We were impressed specially by the superb brisket we got. The FEED THE FAM combo with 4 meats of your choice and 4 large sides was an excellent choice. Even for 4 adults the plate FEED THE FAM had plenty of food for all. The chicken wings were a little dry but tasted great. There was only outside sitting and the cleanliness of the tables could have been better. Food 5 stars, cleanliness and sitting 4 stars. If you are a BBQ lover this "hole in the wall" is definitely a great choice in DC.

Jarron Brady: Had the three meat and two sides platter. The meat (especially the ribs) were well seasoned and pretty juicy. The pork belly was great and the brisket was almost perfect. The BBQ baked beans were seasoned really well but the mac and cheese was not as well seasoned. Also loved the sticky BBQ sauce and the mustard sauce. Def some of the best BBQ I’ve had in DC overall.

Justin Tholl: Amazing! Best stop of our DC trip! Had a brisket Big Cheese with the spicy mac and my wife had the two step rib tips and pork belly with Brussel sprouts Everything was flavorful, sprouts fantastic, and sauces on point. Definitely a must stop!

IM Bercer: ** Winner of the GMA United States of BBQ ** Glad we stopped. It should be a pilgrimage. Our meal equaled the strong ratings. The friendly staff took good care of us and made us feel welcome. I recommend the Two Step (brisket and pulled pork). Two items with distinct flavors and were extremely moist. I was surprised by the wonderful additions of the Texas toast and pickles. We will return.

Matthew Bunyi: This place makes some of the best BBQ I have ever had in my life. The sandwiches and sides are amazing. For a vegetarian option, the tofu banh mi is super well developed in terms of all of its flavors. Finally, the staff is very nice and helpful - they are always ready to give suggestions. Make sure to order ahead online.

Mike Steaks: A little chaotic, but that’s BBQ, baby! As a onetime Texan, I can truly say this joint knows how to smoke some meats! What really rocked my world: brisket burnt ends and all the sauces they provided. Maybe the best thing I ate while in DC for a week.

Alexander Duque: I ordered: Pork shoulder Brisket Pork belly Brussels sprouts And coleslaw My less favourite was the shoulder, without saying that everything was delicious, prices at good! I paid 35 (3 meats and 2 beers). I would definitely recommend this place

Jean Carpes: Big lines for most part of food, maybe they need to distribute it better next time. Anyway, me and my family loved it.

Mia Knowles-Davis: It is overall a very fun experience. A LOT of free samples so definitely worth going to and stacking up on all sorts of yummy food and treats. Music is playing the whole time. The lines are a bit long so definitely be prepared to stand for a bit. Also if possible bring your own chair because seating is SCARCE.

Carlita Ford: I SO ENJOY GOING TO THE NBBQ BEEN GOING FOR YEARS SEE YOU SOON(Ms. CC)😄😄😄😄😄😄😄❣

TL H: Was great! Went last year on Sunday and the samples were all gone. This year went earlier but when I was leaving they were still giving out food and drinks to the attendees. 👏 Music was nice on all the stages. People were friendly. Very nice time!

SheGlitterz harvey: Very nice time. Tasting and sampling food and wine.

Bob Smith: This is by far my favorite summer festival. I’ve been going with family for years and I’ve never had a bad time. was looking forward to this year but the website says it’s canceled because of COVID-19 but that they’re having a big virtual event online beginning June 1. i’ll definitely check it out but sure hope they can do the event on Pennsylvania Avenue again next year.

Lora Mitchell: Went for a quick bite and loved it! Drinks are Fire 🔥BBQ is so tasty…we had brisket, ribs and wings and all were absolutely delicious! But MOST importantly the DRINKS! They were super tasty and will for sure be returning to enjoy more of the wide selection of drinks… true neighbor gem 💎!!! Only down side is the Mac n cheese… not traditional and if you love Mac n cheese skip it - I’m not sure if it was chopped green peppers or jalapeños but hard pass !

Greg Treacy: Tried this local bbq place for date night and it was amazing. The brisket was very juicy and tender. The pulled pork was delicious. The fried Brussel sprouts with their signature sauce is very tasteful. The fried onions were amazing with whatever spices they coated them with. Everything was just delicious and worth the money! The staff was nice and helpful. This place is also really clean and lively.

Terrence Lonelle: Some of the best BBQ I have had in a long time. Everything was on point! The brisket...my God...so good. Wait time was not an issue at all. Frozen daiquiris was everything. My mom and I had a frozen combo of the Pink Panther and Orange Cream - delicious! Overall, great 1st time experience. Friendly staff and inviting atmosphere. Parking I would say was the only down fall, but a staff member did help us out with that...plus it is was Pride weekend 😊. Will definitely come back again. Highly recommend!

Ethan Z: Great Restaurant!! This is a BBQ place with food that was super good. You order at the counter and sit to wait for you food to be brought to you. They have a full service bar as well. They have a heated tent to add to more indoor settings when cold (it looked like it would open up for nicer weather). The staff were professional and friendly!! Overall great!!

Heather Benner: Best food we have had on our trip to DC...might be some of the best BBQ I have had. Been to Carolina, to Kansas City, to Santa Maria CA... the smoked rib tips were to die for. Kids had the pulled pork sandwiches (super yum). I recommend the fried Brussels sprouts, the grits, and the Mac n Jack cheese. Well worth the drive to this lovely local neighborhood gem!

Andre Morrison: I love some good BBQ! This is a nice low key spot, my wife and I enjoyed it. Ask Marcus to whip you up an alcoholic slushie!I had the smoked sandwich with jerk wings and collard greens, smh fire! The house BBQ sauce is good, give this spot a try people.

Patrick Young: Food was mostly good with the brussel sprouts definitely being their best. The wings were a little underwhelming in flavor. The place is extremely pricey in my opinion compared to the food quality

Backyard Smoke Spot BBQ: what do users think?

Nick H.: I come to this place often for the Smoked Wings. In my opinion they are worth every penny that they cost. They have two versions jerk smoked or maple smoked. I found the jerk kind to be a bit too spicy for my liking and the maple hits just right. Every time I go there wasn’t really a wait to order and the food would usually come out in under 15 minutes. I do with they would allow for indoor seating. I drive almost 40 minutes one way and then 40 minutes back just for their wings. So it would be nice if they allowed for indoor seating to allow myself to eat a few of them first before I make my way back home. My reason for the 4 stars and not 5 is because of the value for the other things on the menu in my opinion isn’t there. I tried the stuffed salmon a few times and every time I got it the salmon would be overcooked, rice would be hard, and then the stuffed part of the salmon with the crab doesn’t seem to be seasoned well. They charge almost 40 dollars for that and I was expecting better.

Travis Williamson: Ended up stopping by this place yesterday (6/8/22) the jerk wings were fantastic and the sides were good as well (4/5). Good to see a BBQ spot that actually puts effort into their sides and not just there meat. Will definitely come back to try ribs and fish entrees

Larry “Big Schlim” Mcleod: Excitement ill describes my fervor in patronizing this spot!! I definitely was diligent in researching this city corner delicacy, I knew EXACTLY what I wanted when I walked in the door and I got more than what was expected!! Y’all...you want a thick, juicy, mouthwatering, lightly breaded, evenly seasoned, jumbo lump, fresh fresh, crab cake? You don’t have to go to Baltimore... @backyardsmokespot got that!! Hold up...do you want succulent, grilled, tender, no grizzle, sizzling, lamb chops? @backyardsmokespot got that!! Remember this location... 4701 Georgia Ave, N.W. Washington D.C. 20011... remember it, because YOU will be back again and, again, and, again...infinity!! Their menu items include fried fish and shrimp, Bbq ribs, slow smoked maple or jerk wings, crab stuffed salmon, pork chops, seafood Mac n Cheese (pictured and ridiculously delicious), collard greens (pictured, fresh, and delectable), garlic mashed potatoes, hush puppies, fries, and grilled asparagus. I truly wanted everything on the menu...really!! Now you will have to check on the prices in store because, I assume, the prices fluctuate. I paid $50 bucks for the meal pictured (A crab cake, seafood Mac n Cheese, and collard greens). Now hold up...that price is in line with most top tier restaurants...I looked it up. It’s totally worth it good people, I will return...the food is THAT GOOD...period. You will no longer feel compelled to go to Baltimore to get some premium seafood...it’s right here in D.C.. Parking was ok, it’s Georgia Ave, so envision that. Their customer service is impeccable, I was greeted, welcomed, they exuded patience, a menu was presented, they were kind and gave recommendations. You’re doing yourself a disservice if you are craving bbq grilled food and/or seafood. You MUST go there or you’re truly square!! That’s it. **This establishment is Covid compliant** My stop at this spot was not the first time I’ve been here…and it surely will not be the last! So when I saw their post of a specialty, off menu item, I rolled out to get it with the quickness! This establishment has a constant flow of patrons, & their food will have you planning your next visit!! . Where I am: @backyardsmokespot . Location Reviewed: 4701 Georgia Ave., Washington D.C. . Kay Kay: 1st time trying this spot i told him over the phone it was my 1st time & I’ve been wanting salmon lately. He recommended me to the jerk salmon ( i like spicy). He offered me asparagus to go with it but i went with the mac&cheese and garlic mash potatoes! OH MY GOSH!! it’s as good! As it looks! Well portion! Stuff salmon with real crab lump meat well seasoned! I posted this picture on my IG you should definitely have so new customers! And I’m one of them :)

Rasheeda Boyd: I loved the food and the smoke wings had so much flavor. Mac and Cheese and candid yams were great. That Maple sauce was to die for.

Tawnya Butler: The best place for BBQ hands down. Their customer service is impeccable. The food is delicious. The jerk ribs and the regular ribs fall off the bone, and their BBQ sauce the spicy one is my favorite. Their yams and baked mac and cheese melt in your mouth. The only thing I wish they had was a dine in place, but this will definitely be a place I visit every single time.

Rashika Boyd: The food is amazing and taste so good, the only problem was my smoked chicken wings was over cooked. The sauce given with my food 🤯🤤, I wanted to drown my chicken and ribs in it!

Shanta D: First time eating at this spot, did a online order and delivery with uber eats. I did the lunch special smoked leg quarter with collard green a and green beans. You can choose your sauce of jerk or maple and I got the maple. The chicken was full of smokey flavors and seasoned very well, had a little kick but like it, like it a lot. Both veggies that I got was delicious. The greens a little salty but good other wise. I will be coming back to order more from the menu. Wanna try that lamb!!! Keep up the good work Backyard Smoke Spot.

The Pig: what do users think?

Sam M: One of My favorite BBQ restaurants in DC. I visited this place several times and really had a great experience. This place could get pretty busy during the weekend dinner service, so I would definitely recommend making a reservation ahead of time. Inside of the restaurant was relatively clean and had enough seating for big groups. Pretty much all the dishes I tried here were delicious, but my favorite was pork chops and smoked ribs. They also have an extensive drink and dessert menu. I really loved their strawberry shortcake. It literally melts in your mouth. Servers were very friendly and attentive during the whole dinner. I highly recommend this restaurant for some good BBQ!

Lord Edwin Carreon: I really like The Pig. I’ve been 3 times (once pre-COVID-19 Pandemic and twice in the Pandemic) and have consistently enjoyed my experience. At its core, The Pig is a barbecue joint. It does offer some upscale and fancier items, which I like. The hi-low effect is well done at The Pig. The dining room is dimly lit and cozy with its wood booths and industrial finishes. The addition of the patio offers a more casual outdoor experience. Some of my favorite items include their St. Louis Smoked Ribs and Brisket Ragu. The ribs are fall-off-the-bone tender and perfectly smoked and sauced. Honestly, the side dishes are nice accompaniments, but don’t necessarily augment the dish. The Brisket Ragu is a perfect hi-low dish offering tender chunks of smoked brisket in a delicate, unctuous tomato and red wine sauce that beautifully coats chewy tagliatelle pasta. My favorite item on the menu is the Heritage Shank. (“12-hour confit pork shank, Yunnan potato puree, leafy spinach, roasted garlic and ginger gastric [sic].”) It’s a special dish that offers a generous portion of tender and juicy pork whose taste is amplified by the side dishes. The ginger gastrique is exceptional and balances the fatty richness of the pork. I will say, like many restaurants after these past two years, The Pig’s menu has shrunk. I really miss some of their signature items, like their bone marrow appetizer. They were unique, exceptionally delicious dishes that should return. Moreover, the portion sizes have definitely gotten smaller. Lastly, service 2/3 of the times I’ve been have been stellar, with attentive and kind wait staff. The other time I’ve been, our server was nice enough, but forgot several things we asked for (an alteration to a dish, ordering another drink, and bringing us more napkins).

Beverlyn Salva: Okay, here me out. If you or your partner haven’t eaten anything since breakfast and HAS been walking around DC ALL day and you’re looking for some food to eat? I’d recommend the Pig! My boyfriend and I have made a list of food places to go before going on our trip and so we can just pick and go.They have some great appetizers and entrees, drinks are delish, dessert is also delish… but what really amazed me is our server Kima. She was super knowledgeable, blissful, great personality and her customer service is on point. That’s what I usually look for when eating out. We love to eat but we also like to know what the front of house can do to make our dining experience better. :) Thank you Kima and the Pig (DC).

Joel Pagett: I enjoyed a fantastic meal in The Pig, and I would have no hesitation recommending it to others. The Bao Buns to start were incredible, and the Pork Shoulder steak was sensational as well. Certainly worth a visit if you’re in Washington and looking for a delicious dinner.

Ben Multak: Good flavors but not my favorite BBQ I’ve ever had. Federalist Pig has better BBQ but the ambiance of this place is much bette. Drinks were also very good and they are able to accommodate large groups.

Columbia City Bouquet: We come here every time we are in town. The cocktails are delicious. The food is super tasty. And we always have a blast with our waiters/bartenders- this time Michael was especially fun. Don’t go in thinking it’s going to be the best barbecue you’ve ever had straight from Austin, but it will surely be delicious. Eat the Brussels sprouts.

Texas Jack’s Barbecue: what do users think?

Haley Markusson: i heard high praise of texas jacks and this bbq did not disappoint! to start we got the brisket egg rolls which are so good they rival my other favorite philly cheese steak egg rolls. my parents and i shared the regular meat medley for our entrees. all the meat was so well seasoned and cooked but my favorites were the pulled pork and the brisket. for our sides we got brussel sprouts, mac and cheese, coleslaw, and corn bread. the brussel sprouts were so delicious and the mac and cheese had the perfect cheese ratio. for dessert we got the german chocolate cake, which had a decent amount of coconut filling, the banana pudding which was just ok, and the bread pudding that was literally the best thing i’ve ever eaten. the portion sizes were so large that we were eating leftovers for two days after our visit. the staff here is super kind and helpful. they answered any questions we had and were very attentive. overall this place was great and i would definitely come back

Nickie Sattler: Since we do our own BBQ, we are pretty picky about defining good BBQ. Texas Jack’s is good BBQ. Very much reminds me of BBQ from Texas. Brisket is seasoned with salt, pepper, and maybe some garlic. The moist brisket was smoked well and flavorful. The beef short rib and chicken was good as well. The brisket hash was amazing. Highly recommend.

Francesco de Luca: Amazing restaurant, serving proper Texan barbecue. I had the mixed platter and the nachos to share, everything was great. Service was quick and our server was very kind. Would definitely recommend!

Anthony Godfrey: Fabulous meal and great service. Caught the tail end of Happy Hour for a drink and and the brisket nachos, but the star of the show was the meat medley with beans & slaw. Best brisket I’ve had in years. Ribs extraordinary.

Rocklands Barbeque & Grilling Company: what do users think?

K Jay: Update: I decided to give it another try. The beef ribs were really flavorful and tender. My sides were delicious as well (onion rings and salad). It was a bit expensive, but the meal was definitely enjoyable. The service was friendly and attentive. Definitely a better experience. _______________________________________________ Original review: After hearing positive reviews about Rocklands, I purposed to check them out. I have to give them another chance because I am a little disappointed. I opted to dine in but needed my meal in a to-go setup. I was obliged but did not receive my order until I walked to the counter. The staff were apologetic but did not offer to replace the meal (they were supposed to bring it where I was seated). The place is clean, with steady customer traffic. The aroma fills the air before even getting close to the parking lot. My food was cold and I felt a bit underwhelmed by the portions. The brisket had a nice bite and flavor but was teetering on the dry side. I found myself needing to use sauce to eat. And the sauce was pretty tasty. My sides were cold so I really could not enjoy. In all, I will try again at a later date and update. I cannot really say for now. They were very apologetic upon my exiting, but my view remains unchanged.

Critical Chris: Went here on a Sunday evening close to closing time, which is probably why it looks quiet in the photos. I had a wonderful three meat platter with collard greens & cole slaw. Succulent sauces too; just a little dab compliments the meat. And I ordered some grilled wings that had a great bark on em! I’m definitely coming back soon.

James Derenge: Barbecue varies so much from place to place. I tried the pork ribs and a 1/4 chicken platter. The chicken was tasty with a nice smoke flavor. Not to dry. The ribs were done well and I enjoyed them immensely. The sauce was good, but not my favorite. The beans were the bomb. Cole slaw was not to my liking. Overall Rocklands is pretty good.

Eric Lee: Great value. Good amount of food for price relative to what I’ve had in the area for barbeque. Got beef ribs, spare ribs, Mac and cheese, slaw, brisket. Probably would just get beef ribs and Mac again, and the other things. To be honest, it’s not the best I’ve had but it gets the job done- especially with the price and vibe. It’s comfortable to eat there. Definitely coming back to the more!

Matt Tran: Wonderful service. I ordered the ribs and it was more food than I expected. But it was all delicious!!

Smokin' Pig: what do users think?

John Wright: Came with my girlfriend this evening and I was blown away. A nice H street gem that has a heavy southern influence. The rustic esthetic paired with the welcoming staff set the expectations for a great experience. Generous portion sizes paired with cheap pricing guarantees that I’ll be back again very soon. Would recommend for anyone looking for a nice down home dining experience.

latanja bryant: Low key relaxing music friendly staff... Bartender stated she was new an still learning. She was greatMade sure we were ok with menu, clean an the food was AMAZING.. TRULY SATISFYING!!!!... Will be back again an again. Been twice in two weeks... Blessings

Heath: Got the 1/2 rack platter with slaw and greens. More than I could eat and only $20. Ribs were nicely cooked and seasoned, not fall-off-the-bone, but they didn’t need to be since they were very tender, and the sides were tasty. Ambience and music were great, and the service by my attentive bartender, Sparkle, was excellent. I also like that they have two spots up against the garage door opening to sit and people watch. Great place to grab some bbq with friendly staff.

J. Jones: I went on a a Sunday. I was excited about trying their bbq, greens, and Mac and cheese. My server Maya was wonderful. Even we she had to tell other guests and me that there was no more mac and cheese, she allowed me to taste their potato salad which was really good. I’d recommend to go earlier in the evening on Sunday to get the sides before they run out but also show Maya some love as she worked hard that night to take care of all of the customers.

garden district: what do users think?

Britt Van: Garden District always delivers: consistently excellent food, beer, wine, service, and atmosphere. Also very dog-friendly. They serve up some of the best BBQ around. You really can’t go wrong with anything on the menu, but their fried chicken sandwich is phenomenal (a constant craving). They have a thoughtful, intriguing, well-balanced offering of beer, and perhaps unexpectedly, a delightful and unique selection of wine, and they make an effort to secure some limited releases and other special, novel, or somewhat rare items. You can also find cider, liquor (including some approachable, good bourbon), hard seltzer, and non-alcoholic beverages on the menu. GD are good people: the staff are welcoming, knowledgeable, and on top of it, and provide excellent, no-frills service that keeps the food and drink moving and the vibe laid back. They give a damn about their business and about you. Also, even at their busiest, the bathrooms are clean and stocked, which is a testament to their diligence and care. With the prime location, ample outdoor space, and wide appeal of beer garden fare, GD doesn’t have to go as hard as it does. Garden District would be my go-to spot just from the dependably excellent food, drink, and convenience alone, but above all, it is their diligent and friendly staff and the easy, convivial environment they work so hard to provide that keeps me (and basically everyone I know) coming back. That, and my apparent addiction to their fried chicken.

Shankar Kulumani: Great beer garden in heart of 14th Street. Lots of outdoor seating. Very fast service. Pretzels and burgers are great. 1L beers are reasonably priced as well

Denise Nunez: garden district was a little place I found as I was roaming the DC area. We’re from NY, so we were so pleased to find GREAT, AUTHENTIC southern BBQ. we had the brisket sandwich, pulled pork sandwich, mac and cheese & onion rings. 10/10. Also had some double shot drinks🍺 great vibes, and atmosphere. will be coming back next time 😁👏🏼

BBQ Bus Catering Co.: what do users think?

Kenny Ferguson: We used the BBQ Bus for a work event this past week and they did a great job! The food was hot, fresh and came out fast. They have been a pleasure to work with from the start of planning this event. We had to change dates due to Covid and the owners worked with us. Excellent customer service. We will be using them again!

Lindsay Templeton: Tried this for the first time from doordash during quarantine and it was delicious. The smoky pulled pork sandwich was huge and perfectly tender with great flavor combination. The Mac & cheese was good, and the greens were on the sweeter side. Will definitely eat here again.

Lawrence Dowery: BBQ Sauce #5 was so much love and the pull pork sandwich was outstanding. Can tell the baked beans was made from scratch which was refreshing. Mac and cheese was perfect

Greg Antrim: We ordered brisket, pulled pork, pulled chicken, and wings. Everything was outstanding. Just as good as any others around (ie.... Fed Piggy). Portion sizes were great. Smoke flavor was prominent and excellent. Sides were very good. And their sauces could be bottled. This will be a regular for me now!

Joanna Hurt: Ordered the chicken and pork BBQ sandwich catering for my office today, and it was a huge hit! The meat was great with all the sauces and the pickled veggies were delicious. People also loved the beans and mac and cheese. We will definitely order again!

Norma Woody: I ordered a meal for the first time and must admit that this meal was absolutely delicious. The spareribs were meaty and tender, the bake beans had a very delightful flavor that can become additive and the French fries were seasoned the way I like it. Will try the pickles on my next order. Have to eat my corn muffins now😇.

SmokeDatt Barbecue: what do users think?

Spiral Tote: 17Dec.2021 I was here waiting on food and the owners were taking pics of their freshly cooked food to put on social media and I helped them a little bit. The owners seasoned some delicious 🤤 freshly fried pork rinds and gave them to me. So awesome. The rinds were so flavorful and crispy. I killed them hard and it hit the spot. Right place at the right time. Thank you SmokeDatt BBQ and Catering.

Ebony Thomas: What a great experience! We used George and his team at SmokeDatt Barbeque to cater a 50+ person corporate event. The entire process leading up to the event was seamless. George was responsive and helped us curate an extensive menu within our budget. He even helped us with an off-the-menu punch request. On the day of the event, the team was on time, professional, and friendly. The presentation of the food, condiments, and desserts looked amazing and they came with everything we needed from chaffing dishes to plates and flatware. The food was absolutely delicious (the smoked chicken and the half smokes were personal faves!). Everything was seasoned to perfection. I highly recommend George and his team for any event where you want incredible food and spectacular service. Thank you, SmokeDatt! We hope to work with you again soon!

April West: I reached out to SmokeDatt BBQ and Catering during the busy holiday season. Not only were they very responsive, they also took on my large order of 12 fried turkeys for the church to help feed the DC community on Thanksgiving day. They even offered to carve the turkeys up for us. Everyone raved about how juicy and flavorful the turkeys were. I will definitely be reaching out with more orders! Thanks again for taking care of us. You all are truly a blessing.

Katie Holzman: George came in and set up the best meal for our party! I have never seen such a display of food! The food was amazing!!!!

Ashlee Hoffman: SmokeDatt was absolutely fabulous to work with! George and his crew were professional, respectful and a true joy to work with. George had some great ideas for our menu and everyone at our event raved about the food. Everything was delicious! I will be using SmokeDatt in the future for other events. I rarely complete reviews, but the service and food were so exceptional that I had to write a review for this company! Thanks for an awesome event, George!

Natalie Michel: I can not express how GOOD the food at SmokeDatt was! We’re from Boston and we don’t have BBQ place here or ones that are even good. While looking for a caterer for my sister’s baby shower in DC, I found SmokeDatt Barbecue. From the beginning, the owner George was so helpful and not only that honest. We wanted to try almost everything on the menu and this was only for a party of 20 people. He told me that that was way too much food for that amount of people. I loved his honesty. Most people would’ve taken your order and money. He helped us choose a good amount of food, always quick with responses and overall great customer service. He was also very prompt on his delivery time as well. Now on to the finger licking, amazing food! EVERY SINGLE FOOD CHOICE WAS DELICIOUS! The ribs were so tender, bbq chicken was phenomenal, Mac and cheese, shrimp, mash, brisket, the corn on the cob…I can go on but I’m getting hungry thinking about it! There was not a single negative complaint. The seasoning was there, the flavor, just everything. Most of us never had BBQ besides what we make in our on home but this was everything for first timers and people who’ve had bbq before. Everyone went for 2nds, 3rds and even 4ths and had nothing but wonderful things to say. I am so happy I found this place and we will definitely be using SmokeDatt again in the future!!

2Fifty Texas BBQ: what do users think?

Marga S.: Absolutely love it. My son took me out for lunch to one of his favorite place to eat BBQ. The restaurant is located in a quiet neighborhood, close to university of Maryland. I ordered the brisket, beans and Mac and cheese, it was tasty and delicious. Fast service, food nice and warm. Cashier was pleasant.

Paul: Very good Texas style barbecue. Really nice location with cool indoor and outdoor seating. The sides were delicious, especially the mango salad. The brisket was very good although out of the six pieces two were fairly fatty. We didn’t specify lean or moist for the brisket so if we go back, we’ll definitely get lean.

C DJ: Read about the top BBQ spots in Metro DC. I decided to give #1 a try, 2Fifty Texas BBQ. Ordered brisket beans, Texas chili, half pound each of Prime brisket and Pork spare ribs. Delicious. Melt in your mouth. High quality food. I am dying to try the beef ribs, wagyu brisket and the mac and cheese. I live in Alexandria and the drive to 2Fifty is quite a bit but I would go back. Again. And again.

Will Lee: Amazing experience at 2 Fifty….! Sublime soft clean smoke resounds through their pork shoulder, and most specifically in their perfect brisket! Fernando a charming and knowledgeable pit master, and owner, took me and my son Jack on a great tour!

Kevin Hubbard: My wife and I like finding local non franchises BBQ spots. We have been hit or miss for about 2 years now in all the places we have gone. Not so at 2 fiffy! We rolled up on this spot on Riverdale MD by accident and because we love good BBQ we stopped! We are glad we did! Good portions, great tasting food. The cornbread will make you skip dessert and the Mac and cheese is delicious! We will definitely come back!

Jeff Wilson: Best BBQ we have had in the Maryland, DC area by far. Well worth the hour drive. Staff was extremely helpful and kind. We will be back! Ribs, brisket and banana pudding were our favorites.

Sassy Sauce: This may be the best BBQ I’ve had in the DMV. The Wagyu brisket is ridiculously good. We had both the prime brisket and the Wagyu and there is a distinct difference. They are both great but the tenderness and flavor of the Wagyu will put your mouth into savory bliss. The Mac and cheese is good. It’s VERY cheesy and there are at least 3-4 cheeses that they use to make it. The cornbread is excellent. Very moist and thick. The the baked beans are ok, but not my favorite. We tried the pineapples as well as they were good too. Very light flavor with a faint spicy kick at the end. The plantains were great too. Not too hard but full of flavor and fried perfectly.

malvina gasco: Had catering by 2fifty BBQ and it was outstanding. Ordered ribs, sausages, brisket with mango salad and potato salad sides. Everything was delicious, my new favorite BBQ spot in DC!

Larry “Big Schlim” Mcleod: A good friend suggested that we go to this spot to try it out. Waygu Brisket is on their menu…let’s GO!! Smokecraft Modern Barbecue: what do users think?

Nancy Jin: Barbecue for brunch is always a good idea! The pork belly on the nachos was incredible, fatty, and unctuous. The berries on the French toast did actually taste of a smoky flavor, which was delightful. Our only disappointment was we couldn’t taste any smokiness in the banana pudding (not pictured), but the pudding was delicious anyway. There’s so much on the menu I’d like to try, so I’ll have to come back!

Corzann Sailor: The perfect setting and ambiance dining alone afterwork for Happy Hour, on a date night or with a group of friends. Friendly and pleasant staff, fun bartenders and CLEAN BATHROOMS!!!! This is huge and most would appreciate this! I mean Everything from the smoky brisket Eggrolls down to the ribs, is packed with robust flavor along with the variety of sauces to choose from. Even the little mini cornbread muffins are delicious! The Mac & Cheese is FIRE!!!!! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥Hands down this is MY FAVE “REAL BBQ” spot in town. It’s so hard to find authentic taste in the area.

Shannon Garay: Food, 5 stars Service, 4 stars The food is exactly what you come for - award winning. We got the ribs and pulled pork platter - absolutely incredible. Make reservations as there’s limited seating. Huge bar with awesome cocktails. Kid friendly- high chairs available. Street parking Pictured: pork belly burnt ends (won the night), pulled pork platter with smoked cauliflower, and half rack of ribs.

Maria Olsen: Delicious dishes, for barbecue aficionados and those who want healthier fare as well. Award-winning barbecue in Clarendon area of Arlington. Warm, welcoming interior and staff. Across the street from a live music venue. Really enjoyed the deviled eggs made with fire-roasted avocados. Yum!

BC C: We went for brunch and got the Brisket Benedict, which was incredible! My friend had just been to a place that specialized in benedicts and he said this one blew it out of the water! It was so good that when we finally got hungry again we decided to go back for dinner. We got the Whole Lotta Que so we could sample everything. It was a ton of food, and we were not disappointed! It was all great, but the brisket, ribs, sausage, mac and cheese, and baked beans were incredible! Really glad we did the sampler because we would not have ordered the sausage and it was the best sausage either of us had ever had! Will definitely be back, really glad to have a place like this local to Arlington!

Margie Nguyen: I found my bbq spot in northern Virginia finally! Everything was great, server was friendly, food came out at a timely manner and was hot. Parking is a pain at Clarendon so Uber. A bit pricey but very good food!

Johnny Boy Carryout: what do users think?

D.E.M.: Small place with very little parking. Although the service is great and the food even better.5 Star ribs.

IamJoedie S: Delicious!! Can I say that one more time...DELICIOUS!!! This was my first but not my last time here. Got a little bit of everything since I didn’t know what to get. The prices are reasonable (affordable). The minced bbq with spicy sauce and coleslaw on the side is the way to go. Get some of those ribs. Mmmmmm. I promise you you won’t be disappointed. Then end it off with some wings. I swear I think they just took them out the grease (in other words they were fresh and hot). This place is a must do. Come. Eat. Enjoy.

Empress Sheba: Delicious as always. We bought a slab of ribs with the hot sauce on the side and one of their boxes meals with 2 ribs, 2 fried fish and 2 chicken wings. The wings didnt have as much seasoning as I thought so I added some old bay when we got home. Would still buy again though!

J A Baskerville: Ribs were tasty, tender, and the spicy sauce was fantastic. On the other hand, the sides I could have done without.

Rod Marsh: Johnny boy still got it, getting a little pricey but the food is pretty good while hot.
