Hill Country Barbecue Market: what do users think?

Sassy Sauce: We love Hill Country and the food is consistently good each visit. One caveat for this visit though, I remember the Mac and cheese being a lot better than what it was this particular evening. It was still good but maybe it wasn’t as good as I remembered. There was a hockey game in the city tonight and this was a good treat before game time. The restaurant had good seating and the bar area had plenty of seats left. Overall I really enjoy the food and would go back for sure!
Response: And we love you Sassy Sauce. Thank you for your review and kind words. Sorry about the Mac n Cheese. I will definitely follow up on it. Please ask for me when you're in next. I'm Opal.

Amanda Turcotte: Great Texas BBQ in the heart of DC. The service here is topnotch. We were greeted warmly and shown to a table right away. We were also asked if we had dined at Hill Country before and when we said we had not, the hostess politely informed us of how the ordering process works, which was really helpful. The staff preparing the meat were friendly and engaged us in conversation while they prepared our plates. There are several types of meat to choose from....brisket, sausage, chicken, etc. All were really good. The chicken was more moist than almost any other bbq place I have visited in DC and Texas. They have every side you can think of as well. I highly recommend the bourbon mashed sweet potato, chili, and deviled eggs. The cornbread is pretty good too....honey butter is delish. They offer margarita pitchers, which are really good, just be sure to sit in the bar area if you want to take advantage of the happy hour specials. They also have another large dance club space in the basement, where it looks like they have live bands. Overall, we had a great time and would comeback. Thanks!

BigUnknown Roach: First-time eating here and let me tell you it won't be the last. The food was amazing the brisket was moist, the chicken was good, and the ribs amazing. The side was good to the mac and cheese, sweet potatoes, and greens. Some of the best BBQ I had in a while.
Response: Roach!!!! Welcome to Hill Country. Thank you for visiting. We look forward to seeing you again soon.

Emilie K: I love this spot. It’s cafeteria styled. The brisket sandwich is always so on point. When my husband worked in the area, he would eat here every week. Now we always stop by for a sandwich combo whenever are we in this side of town! You won’t be disappointed. Employees are always friendly!
Response: Ahhh Emilie. Thank you so much. Can't wait to see y'all again soon.

Da-Wang Wu: To be honest, I enjoyed the dining environment more than the food. The place was pretty large with a lot of interesting decorations. The hot link and the chicken were both delicious, but the beef was okay. The mashed potato was pretty good as well. It’s a nice place for casual dining with friends!

Jessica R: Good barbecue and very friendly staff. Lots of food for your money. Ordering is a little confusing if you’ve never been before. Food was quick and tasty. I got the brisket sandwich with a side of Mac and cheese and an extra side of the deviled eggs. The deviled eggs could have used a little more flavor, but everything else was great. Also I wasn’t sure if there were more sauce options than what was on the table but I would have liked more variety of barbecue sauces like other places I have been.
Response: Hi Jessica, Working on the ordering thing. Thank you for your kind words. Look forward to seeing you again.

Christopher: Great brisket sandwich. Cafeteria style ordering for food, then server bring food & takes drink order. Sandwich was big & delicious. Chili was great also

Jonathan Weaver: Amazing Texan atmosphere, smoky oaky brisket with incredibly savory sides! For an urban city BBQ joint there's an almost portal like shift when you step inside and your meat is chopped and put in butcher paper by a friendly and meat-loving staff! I don't give many 5 stars but this one deserves it!
Response: Jonathan we pride ourselves in our customer service and food. Thank you for visiting. Come again.

Liron Newman: It was pretty tasty but the meat was chewy, definitely not falling off the bone. The service was good but I don't think I'll be back.

Vladimir Svetlakov: Long chose restaurant for tonight. Our choice fell on Hill Country Barbecue Market and we didn't regret! It surpassed all our expectations. The order process seems a little unusual and strange, but it turns out to be easy and pleasant. Very tasty. Delicious! Place very colorful! The staff is very friendly! The bartender will make your favorite cocktail and a little more. Thanks!

Rocklands Barbeque and Grilling Company: what do users think?

Anna: Allie and friends rocked our hungry world for under $20/ person. First timer here... I was Hungry. Typed in BBQ "top rated"; sort by distance: Rocklands showed up with 600+ 5* reviews, seemed like a safe bet. Oh myyyy that was an immediate awesome choice. Will be back, maybe even tomorrow. First moment we walked in it was already an awesome ride with a big smile greeting. This friendliest guy was not at all thrown off by an immediate question of what was his favorite dish was. He didn't blink an eye and responded back with his three meat platter and ribs. His partner in crime Allie also had some helpful recommendations of the winter stew and collard greens with pulled pork. Did I mention they had whiskey? Like 12 types of bourbon and whiskey. Really great red 🍷 wine. Draft 🍺 beer The food came out very quickly and everybody was just super friendly. Each of us was very happy with our own dishes. It was really good to taste different textures and authentic flavors. The meat Was Juicy and had a really good flavor of balanced seasoning and good quality ingredients. The collard greens were perfectly tender but not overcooked. Very juicy. The stew was very chunky and you could really taste each ingredient without a mess of a sauce. They had a very versatile selection of sauces anything from sweet and tangy to very spicy.
Response: Thanks, Anna!!!

Kristen Goode: Solid western Carolina style bbq. Friendly and efficient staff. Great experience. As an Alabama girl, I’m always a little hesitant of bbq outside of the south — Rocklands definitely passed the test. The 3 meat dinner was enough food for two of us.
Response: Thank you, Kristen! Glad you enjoyed your experience!

Noah Duran: The food is a 10/10! I had previously given Rockland's a 4/5 but I am changing my review because they fixed the long wait times during dine in. Rockland's is one of the best BBQ restaurants in DC.
Response: Thanks, Jesus! We are so sorry your order took longer than expected. Did you know you get a free dessert if your order takes longer than our promise of 8 minutes! Regardless, we appreciate your kind words about the food! Look forward to having you back!

Stephanie Botsford: Glover park team is A-mazing and very caring♥️ Dr. Carlos the manager saved my afternoon by recommending me the best ribs in town and help regain my energy back after a long day of work. Please do not hesitate to stop by and enjoy the best BBQ in the District🌸 They never dissapoint
Response: Thanks, Stephanie! We will tell Carlos about his shout-out! Thanks for your business.

Freddie: So glad we found this place, we are visiting from out of town and the service here is excellent and this is the best BBQ place my family and I have ever been too, the full rack beef ribs and BBQ chicken and a bunch of sides is what we ordered and it was AMAZING! The prices are really good as well. The staff were really nice. Highly appreciated and highly recommend!
Response: We are so glad you found us too! Always a pleasure to hear from happy customers... thank you!

Kyle Durant: Excellent food! Greatly enjoyed the chopped pork sandwich with mac n cheese and baked beans.
Response: THANK YOU, KYLE!!!! We appreciate you!

Kindred Cocoa: Their sides are solid. The meat is tender and well prepared. Their sauce is not too sweet. Highly recommend...and I do love BBQ btw. A solid 8/10Collard greens, cornbread, baby back ribs, and fried okra were amazing!
Response: Kindred - thanks for the wonderful review!

Nick Gigineishvili: I like to play by a rule of thumb with bbq places. If the mac and cheese is bad, don’t even try the meat(pause). The mac and cheese here is OUTSTANDING, the creamy factor is creamin, it’s thick but not too thick. Don’t even get me started about the meat, everything so tender and flavorful. It’s so easy to mess up brisket, every other place has dry and gross brisket. Not this place, so juicy and flavorful. The pulled chicken and pork are out of this world. 10/10 would recommend.
Response: Woohoo! Love the 10/10! Thanks for your kind review, Nick! Look forward to having you back.

Tesha Blair: Rockland’s Barbecue is seriously the best! Everything from their barbecue to any of their many side items are incredible!
Response: Tesha thank you thank you!

Kenneth Boozer: The barbecue was moist and perfectly cooked. Sauce was delicious. Great smoked flavor. Sides were also good. We will definitely reorder this barbecue.
Response: Look forward to having you back again soon! Thanks for the 5-stars, Kenneth!

Smoke & Barrel: what do users think?

David Vincent: Great service and atmosphere downstairs. The menu is really good value. The food was delicious and it really would be good to try more. It was so good that we went back a couple of days later and sat upstairs. We tried different stuff and it all tasted great, the prices are really good here too. We were happy to meet the owner who was happy to look after us. The dessert was delicious.

La Tisha Parkinson: This not a healthy place to eat. But if you want great food, decent prices, and a great vibe then this is definitely your spot! We actually ordered too much food by accident...we took 4 starters to share but some of the starters were like meals themselves! (Nachos with Mac and cheese and cheese fries with brisket). The food looked amazing and tasted even better! The staff was courteous and attentive. 10/10 I would go there every day if I wasn't concerned about my health 😂😂 but it's definitely a nice place to go treat yourself. BTW I had brisket for the first time...it's absolutely amazing! I have no idea what kind of meat it is but it's delicious and I definitely recommend it! But don't worry vegans, they have A LOT Vegan options which are highly rated online. Edit: obviously we took the leftovers home and guess what? It even reheats excellently!!!

Larry “Big Schlim” Mcleod: I’m casually scrolling through one of my social media feeds looking at different delectable foods. I come across a bbq joint that says they have a deep fried MOONPIE!! I look closer & it just so happens that this place is in D.C.!! Located in the heart of Adams Morgan at 2471 18th you’ll find @beerbbqbourbon !! . . . Being who I am…I’m not just getting a moonpie. By the looks of their menu I honestly wanted to get everything. For starters they have smoked chicken wings, smoked VEGAN chicken wings, Nachos (with nacho cheese, Pico de Gallo, Ranchero beans, and jalapeños that you can put turkey, pork, or brisket on), and breaded, deep-fried cheese curds. They have a vegan smoked pork roast sandwich, Sloppy Joe sandwich they call a “Sloppy Cue”, and of course pulled pork and brisket sandwiches. They have sausage, turkey, pork, and even vegan pepper steak plates that come with cornbread and a side. Sides include fries, fried okra, slaw, and sweet potato fries. For dessert they got a lemon mascarpone cake, and a fried sweet potato doughnut!! . . . So I copped a smoked turkey sandwich (pictured with pickles, raw onion, cornbread, and their Smokey Sweet bbq sauce $12). STAMP!! Everything Georges Schlim New soooo well with the sandwich. The The crispness of the onion, the tartness of the pickle, the sweetness of the sauce, and the tenderness of the turkey. Well done!! The cornbread, beans were decent. Next up I got the sliced brisket plate (pictured with the same aforementioned toppings but their Slow Burn bbq sauce $12). The brisket was flavorful, tender, and delicious, and the sauce was tangy HOT goodness!! Lastly I snatched up what I went there for…that deep fried MOONPIE!! STAMP STAMP!! Geesh this thing was good. It was a sweet, crispy pancake coated, gooey, chocolate, marshmallow piece of heaven!! THIS IS A MUST HAVE!! I have to mention that they have a couple full bars there , filled with the finest bourbon in the city!! . . . Customer service was on point (although they almost let me walk off without my sides, napkins, and utensils), online ordering was easy, the establishment was clean, but parking is no bueno. Try this spot. Trust. That’s it. #bigschlimsreviews #bbq #deepfriedmoonpie #deliciousness #smokedturkey #brisket #slowburnbbqsauce #smokeysweetbbqsauce #Adamsmorgan #musthave #thatsit

Jacqueline Young: I would have taken photos but um it was really, really good and I'm sure you don't want to see the plate of my rib bones. Service was amazing! Thank you so much Gabby for helping us end a really long day in great spirits!

Ioana Balas: This place proves that you can totally enjoy vegan barbecue! The vegan sampler is a must try: pork, turkey, pepper steak and wings, all seasoned well, great texture, you are getting a truly delectable experience. And if that wasn’t enough, there is an incredibly vast choice of beers, including sours, friendly stuff, fun music, everything you might want on a night out!

Emily Jensen: I love this place! I had their vegan wings almost 5 years ago and was blown away. They were just as good today. Best vegan wings I've had anywhere in the world. Friendly service too. A must-visit in Washington DC!

Christina Helain: The best staff around and really great food. As a vegetarian, I love being able to participate in BBQ here. Dante and Steve behind the bar are super attentive and cool. Great chill spot in Adam’s Morgan.

Bryant Lane: This place is super mismanaged. It must have been recently bought out or changed management. The food presentation looks nothing like the Google photos. We got under salted sides and they were super bland. The meats came out seasoned, but cold. Cornbread servings were tiny and I got like a outer layer of a yellow onion just kinda tossed on (not the skin). The staff was trying hard but they were definitely overwhelmed. They gave us a discount and comped a beer, which was considerate of them. Idk what happened recently, but id suggest going elsewhere till they get back on track

Amanda Brennan: This restaurant had a lot of potential to be good, but when we ate there we did not have a pleasant experience. When we arrived, we waited at the host stand for about 5 minutes and the waitress walked by us multiple times without acknowledging us. We finally sat ourselves at the bar, and it took about 20 minutes to get the attention of the bartender to take our drink or food order (which we did all at once at that point in time). I waited another 20-30 minutes to get my beer (which was just one of the canned options) and then we waited another hour to get our food. It came out cold, we were told that one of the 3 things we ordered wasn't available, and none of the food looked like anything else others had posted to google in previous reviews. It seems like the restaurant recently changed hands and is struggling to find their footing. The bartender/server we had did recognize we had been waiting for a very long time and did comp the beer and gave us a discount for the long wait. Many seated at the bar were also experiencing the same frustrations, and we could hear them dealing with the same things as us (items being on their bill that they never got because the restaurant was out, delays in drinks/food, etc.). For a Saturday night, there were only 3 people working the entire restaurant for the first hour we were there. After that, one more person showed up to help. I would strongly recommend this restaurant go back to the basics of ensuring they are properly staffed on popular nights and food is prepared with quality in mind (no tomato based beans - this is a BBQ restaurant).

BeTrue Love: I’m disappointed, the prices and food listing didn’t match what shown on the website. I had a taste for ribs so asked about the vegan sample platter . The gentleman who answered the phone names 2 things on the platter and then told me it was to many things to name. In fact it was only 4 meats. I placed the order and when it came I was missing the fries, thought I was getting baked beans when it was chili and the price was unreal $46 for a total disappointment. Won’t be back again.

PITMASTERS BACK ALLEY BBQ: what do users think?

Scott Clifford: Hard to find, but worth the adventure!!. 5 of us ordered take out; brisket sandwiches, pork shoulder sandwiches, and wings. Everything was delicious. Take out only, no room for dine in. Suggest ordering online as lobby is small. Staff was very friendly. Can't wait to go back.

irfan ozarslan: Wow! Ladies and gentlemen, you have to be Houdini to find this place. Thank God I had one next to me. It was in our backyard and we had no idea. We accidentally ran into it. Boy, are you in for a surprise. This place looks like Ripley’s Believe It Or Not but the food is incredible. We ordered the Austin Brisket Sandwich and the Broasted Perch Sandwich along with the baked beans and the Mason Dixon fried okra as additional sides. It was incredible. The brisket melts in your mouth. Fried okra I love you. The baked beans with morsels of pork and bacon made me speechless. The tarter sauce and cole slaw were fabulous and the mother-in-law slaw had the wickedness of my former mother-in-law. I have never seen fries like the Texas Sidewinders. Crispy on the outside and light and fluffy on the inside. When I opened my box, the sidewinders portion was so generous I thought I was about to be surrounded by Turkish dervishes. So I had to immediately start consuming them before they started twirling around me. Folks, the hole-in-the wall ambiance might scare you as you enter. But, please be brave and take that extra step. You won’t regret it. The young man who took our order and the rest of his crew worked well together, like a fine Swiss watch. Thank you Houdini for not making it impossible to find one of the finest bbq joints in town.

azra: We ordered pork bbq sandwiches and we received dry chopped pork with no bbq sauce and stale potato rolls. The cornbread was uncooked in the middle. The "baked beans" contained very few actual beans (about 15) and was mostly sauce and fatty bacon. The only part we enjoyed was the cheddar biscuits and mac n cheese. Money wasted, still hungry.

s: DO NOT EAT HERE. The was a long piece of plastic in the middle of my Austin Brisket Sandwich. This used to be my favorite BBQ place in DC, but I'll never be able to eat at Pitmasters Back Alley BBQ ever again--not after pulling a long piece of plastic out of my mouth from the middle of my sandwich in between slices of brisket. Sadly, can no longer recommend.

Connie Lopez-Parker: Have ordered this meal several times. Epic fail this time. Burnt ends are so salty, impossible to eat and I love salty food! The ST Louis ribs are a soft, grey slab of meat. No seasoning and no color. So disappointed. I called the restaurant, fellow apologized, said they will do better which does not help me. Biscuits and side are delish. Pictures of what is featured on the web-site and the grey thing is what I received.

Aaron Angeles: Loved it. The beef brisket is a little fatty but that's where the flavor resides. I don't like wedge fries. I love these! I would put heat in the spicy sauce not more spices. Grest if you love smoked protein! I will return.

Mel: I ordered the ribs, slaw and fries. All lacked flavor. The name itself is misleading as I thought the food would exude in the flavor of smoked meat. There was no smoke about it. I didn't eat it after the first bite.

Tyrone Manley: THE FOOD HERE IS AWESOME, THE MEAT IS TENDER AND MOIST. IF YOUR IN THE DC AREA YOU'VE GOTTA TRY THIS GUYS FOOD OUT. REALLY COOL LAID BACK PPL, ITS NOT A SIT DOWN SPOT YET. YOU GOTTA TRY THEM OUT

chris reed: Tried the Pork shoulder sandwich. For $17.00 I was expecting something more authentic. The pork had absolutely NO flavor. It was probably cooked in an electric Alto-Shaam oven. Definitely not smoked! They included a vinegar based "sauce", which had no flavor and watered down the meat even further. Lastly, they included an over abundance of fries, which no normal human being can finish. Waste. I'm giving 1 star only because I can't proceed to the next screen.

Al G Nau: Take out place only. Great delicious meats. Sometimes they forget to include a side. Some items require 2 hour lead time. You can buy sodas the or water when picking up. Alley has 2 spots parking for pick up.

S.: I live around the corner from here, my dog leads me to Cinder on every walk. She waits for her treat that she expects when we visit and is always kindly welcomed and loved. This time we stopped for a date night together and the Cinder staff not only provided treats, but a bowl of water and a comfy blanket! I've also eaten here and their food is uh-mazing 😋

Vicki: Got the pulled pork sandwich with coleslaw and mac. Everything was good. The pickles were delicious and the sauces they had were good too. Staff was friendly.

Besa Rizvanolli: Best brisket in town. We eat here very often, and always have a great experience.

MJ M: I've been to some of the most famous TX BBQ spots there are. It's nice to have someone make BBQ in the DMV that gets "it" right when it comes to that. The quality of the smoke and the depth of the taste in the meat is evident from the first bite of brisket. Fall off the bone ribs were also great, but not the winner. The brisket is. I can't wait to go back and try more and will always be a fan of the potato salad that tastes like old school grandmother potato salad. Kudos to Billy for smoking it the way it should be.
Response: Thanks for the kind words!

Owen Taylor: Probably the best beef brisket I’ve had in DC. Even more impressive though - they’ve been donating meals to folks in the Petworth community who are struggling. Go support Cinder BBQ!

Dana Corriere: Cinders is super fun. Great staff, delicious food, easy atmosphere, great wine options, generous portion sizes. My crew can't wait to return.

Peter Cooke: Fantastic barbeque. Best in DC. The beef rib special on Saturday is a reason to eat there alone. The wings (flash fried, then smoked) are also outstanding.

Porscha H: Its confirmed Im eaten more chicken. Wings were LIFE everything right about a dry rub. Tangy sauce fav pair. Chili wuz ight! Going to try something new next time. I was drooling at other plates..😋

Carla, n r6 W.: Purchased 2 lbs of brisket for a party buffet. Served 10 light eaters with a pound leftover. Everyone enjoyed it.

Fat Pete's BBQ: what do users think?

Tahoma Lewis: Thank God was given a gift card to cover my lunch. I was in the mood for BBQ, and wanted to try somewhere new. I partially regret it. Although the delivery was prompt, what I received was unacceptable for the price spent ($16.00) for this chopped brisket sandwich (even though it was tasty) and $5.25 for the mac & cheese (which was pretty good and rightly priced). I'm lucky if there was 3 full tablespoons of meat on here. Look for yourself. I don't mind paying for a good sandwich, but the price didn't justify it.

José FERREIRO (ホセ フェレイロ): Very nice place for BBQ 🍗🍖. A bit dark for me during rhe day. A full wall of TVs ( baseball, indy car , English’s premiere league) on the walls. Wide range of beers and even choice for wines 🍷. Waiter pleasant and checking everythig was ok. Parking not so easy 🅿️. Need to say i do not know well the neighborhood.

Jason Lin: First time here, left with an overall good impression. Good food and attentive staffs. I do recommend the double smoked pork belly bites, a good appetizer to prepare your palate for what’s to come. I got half rack of the baby back ribs, it wasn’t the best I’ve ever had, but it’s pretty good. The meat was tender and almost falling off the bone. And their potato salad was good too.

Van Norn: Very subtle place. Clean design and easy access, near the national zoo. Food is solid for a bbq place. For me I had the brisket melt sandwich with a side of hush puppies and a house salad w/ balsamic vinaigrette dressing. The brisket was soft and tender, being a southerner, it was missing some more flavoring for my taste...added a bit of the vinaigrette and it had a nice bite. The house salad was simple and good and the dressing was just right and not to glaring. The hush puppy was not my favorite as it was dense and a bit bland for me. Overall good experience.

Heather Holman: Amazing! We stopped in for lunch after visiting the zoo. Immediately welcomed by PJ. It was pretty busy and my boyfriend and I grabbed a couple seats at the bar. I got the Burnt Ends Grilled Cheese and he got the Brisket platter. Both were SO good, juicy and tender. I really can’t decide if the food or customer service was better. Wish I lived here so I could come in everyday.

Crystal Nelson: I never write reviews but I’m so upset. I order from their food truck-1 meat 2 sides plate. The pork was cold, 1 tiny thing of BBQ sauce and for the price of $19 dollars there was hardly any pork and as you can see from the picture a giant piece of burnt meat. The sides was barley 1 scoop. Don’t go here unless you want to waste your money!

Roxie Brown: We hired Fat Pete's BBQ as our wedding caterer, and you guys... let me tell you HOW MANY COMPLIMENTS WE GOT!! Everyone was gushing about how good our food was, the staff of Fat Pete's was AMAZING - extra special shout out to PJ and Woody, both of whom we could not have succeeded without. They also brought the best energy, enthusiasm and love to our event, we could not have felt better taken care of. So.... if you're planning an event, these guys absolutely CRUSH event catering!! Love you guys!!

Jen Taylor: I ordered the ribs, greens and Mac & cheese. Every bit of it was horrible. The ribs were w half cooked. The greens had so much vinegar on them you couldn't eat any of it the max taste as if it was prepared with power generic cheese.the hush puppies had some sort of garlic pasta inside of them ( never indicated on the menu. The corn bread was burnt on top and bottom. My daughter and I tossed it out. I do not plan to ever go there. Inot to mention we were visiting DC. I would think 5 or 6 times before I would go back there. I wish whomever eat there the best. Don't complain because you have been warned...

Nicole Wheelock: Great food and service! Two of us enjoyed the burnt ends grilled cheese. Two of us enjoyed the pulled pork sandwich with their sweet sauce and their spicy sauce. The chicken wings with the sweet sauce were also delicious!

Jennifer Patterson: I called Fat Pete’s directly to let them know I had ordered plain smoked wings and received fried old bay wings. The man who answered the phone was so rude and defiant he proceeded to tell me their system didn’t allow them to serve plain smoked wings, you MUST CHOOSE A SAUCE. The app didn’t appear that way, in fact it even said the sauce choices were optional!!! After that argument I simply asked why I receive fried wings then, if I ordered smoked??? In which HE PROCEEDED TO TELL ME their wings go through a two part cooking system where they are smoked and then fried!!! I said well then why do you offer the option of fried or smoked if they are all BOTH SMOKED & THEN FRIED!!!??? To no avail I never got any help or apology or even real reason as to why my wings weren’t prepared as ordered. I WILL NEVER ORDER FROM FAT PETE’S BBQ AGAIN!!!! 👎🏽👎🏽👎🏽

Federalist Pig: what do users think?

Brie W.: This is really high up on our list for BBQ. Definitely recommend to anyone looking for a happy tummy! The sausage is awesome. The brisket is amazing. Just order a little of everything! Also can I just add that David is the nicest person ever?? He has AMAZING customer service!!

Philippe Jacques Kradolfer: Federalist Pig, a "hole in the wall" kind of a place is definitely a great option for a fantastic BBQ. We were impressed specially by the superb brisket we got. The FEED THE FAM combo with 4 meats of your choice and 4 large sides was an excellent choice. Even for 4 adults the plate FEED THE FAM had plenty of food for all. The chicken wings were a little dry but tasted great. There was only outside sitting and the cleanliness of the tables could have been better. Food 5 stars, cleanliness and sitting 4 stars. If you are a BBQ lover this "hole in the wall" is definitely a great choice in DC.

Jarron Brady: Had the three meat and two sides platter. The meat (especially the ribs) were well seasoned and pretty juicy. The pork belly was great and the brisket was almost perfect. The BBQ baked beans were seasoned really well but the mac and cheese was not as well seasoned. Also loved the sticky BBQ sauce and the mustard sauce. Def some of the best BBQ I’ve had in DC overall.

Justin Tholl: Amazing! Best stop of our DC trip! Had a brisket Big Cheese with the spicy mac and my wife had the two step rib tips and pork belly with Brussel sprouts Everything was flavorful, sprouts fantastic, and sauces on point. Definitely a must stop!

IM Bercer: ** Winner of the GMA United States of BBQ ** Glad we stopped. It should be a pilgrimage. Our meal equaled the strong ratings. The friendly staff took good care of us and made us feel welcome. I recommend the Two Step (brisket and pulled pork). Two items with distinct flavors and were extremely moist. I was surprised by the wonderful additions of the Texas toast and pickles. We will return.

Trevor Bingham: This place makes you feel like you're in a BBQ shack in three middle of the city. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich. It was very good and loaded with meat. So much that it was falling out of the bun. The Carolina sauce is very good. The chipotle green beans are good and spicy. Very cool relaxed atmosphere. Very good service. Every few minutes one of the employees came out to see how everyone was doing.

Matthew Bunyi: This place makes some of the best BBQ I have ever had in my life. The sandwiches and sides are amazing. For a vegetarian option, the tofu banh mi is super well developed in terms of all of its flavors. Finally, the staff is very nice and helpful - they are always ready to give suggestions. Make sure to order ahead online.

Mike Steaks: A little chaotic, but that’s BBQ, baby! As a onetime Texan, I can truly say this joint knows how to smoke some meats! What really rocked my world: brisket burnt ends and all the sauces they provided. Maybe the best thing I ate while in DC for a week.

Lani: The food was was underwhelming. Fed Pig has been on my want to try list for a while. Finally had it and I wasn’t impressed. Paid $46 for 1lb of meat. The moist brisket was the best of what I ordered. The lean brisket was very dry, the ribs were tough and the pork belly was okay. Coleslaw was dark and tasted like pepper and vinegar. the macaroni was dry, chewy and didn’t have much cheese. The potato salad was good. Tried a few sauces and they all tasted like too much vinegar was used.

Alexander Duque: I ordered: Pork shoulder Brisket Pork belly Brussels sprouts And coleslaw My less favourite was the shoulder, without saying that everything was delicious, prices at good! I paid 35 (3 meats and 2 beers). I would definitely recommend this place

Giant National Capital BBQ Battle: what do users think?

Sadhana G: The ticket was 25$ for the event. We got a lot of freebies at the various stalls. But the timing was mentioned on the website as it’s open until 7pm but except for a few stalls everyone else were closing down at 5 pm. They told us that the BBQ ended at 5pm. But still we managed to grab some samplers of stalls like Giant, Monster energy , Beyond meat etc. If the weather had been a bit kinder ( it was scorching hot) we would have lingered around a bit longer. There was live music as well.

Tiberius Jones: It was alright. Food was good (BBQ vendors were first class) but vibe was weird. Like the focus wasn't on the food or music but on the brands (DJ mentioned monster energy every 30s). Also don't know if this is on Google or the festival but it had their address on Google maps set a mile away on Massachusetts Ave.

Jean Carpes: Big lines for most part of food, maybe they need to distribute it better next time. Anyway, me and my family loved it.

Jamesw Westrick: This event was terrible. The food was awful at multiple places and the best part was the EDM music. Super expensive and brutally hot. Should consider moving event to fall or spring.

Mia Knowles-Davis: It is overall a very fun experience. A LOT of free samples so definitely worth going to and stacking up on all sorts of yummy food and treats. Music is playing the whole time. The lines are a bit long so definitely be prepared to stand for a bit. Also if possible bring your own chair because seating is SCARCE.
Response: Mia - Thanks for the great review! Hope to see you next year at the BBQ Battle!

Carlita Ford: I SO ENJOY GOING TO THE NBBQ BEEN GOING FOR YEARS SEE YOU SOON(Ms. CC)😄😄😄😄😄😄😄❣

TL H: Was great! Went last year on Sunday and the samples were all gone. This year went earlier but when I was leaving they were still giving out food and drinks to the attendees. 👏 Music was nice on all the stages. People were friendly. Very nice time!
Response: TL, Thanks for the excellent review. We are glad to hear that you enjoyed this year's event and we look forward to you joining us next year!

dolores feliciano: Last years was so much better. This year there were not as many vendors as last year, and then when you went to some vendors, Nature's Promise, and were told that free samples were only being given out on Sunday!!?? I paid the exact same price for a ticket for Saturday as people going on Sunday, so what was the deal??? Guess I won't be going next year or buying any products from Nature's Promise. Also, some vendors, forgot the name, but the one that was selling the Tropical Drinks, got into their line and then was told by the employee in front of me that they were not selling anymore drinks, this was at 2:30 p.m. If vendors come to these events they need to make sure not to run out of their products

SheGlitterz harvey: Very nice time. Tasting and sampling food and wine.
Response: Thanks for your review. We are happy to hear that you enjoyed the tastings and food samples. Hope you join us at next year's Giant National Capital BBQ Battle!

Bob Smith: This is by far my favorite summer festival. I’ve been going with family for years and I’ve never had a bad time. was looking forward to this year but the website says it’s canceled because of COVID-19 but that they’re having a big virtual event online beginning June 1. i’ll definitely check it out but sure hope they can do the event on Pennsylvania Avenue again next year.
Response: Thanks Bob! We hope you join us at the virtual event and can't wait to hopefully be back in 2021!

DCity Smokehouse: what do users think?

Lora Mitchell: Went for a quick bite and loved it! Drinks are Fire 🔥BBQ is so tasty…we had brisket, ribs and wings and all were absolutely delicious! But MOST importantly the DRINKS! They were super tasty and will for sure be returning to enjoy more of the wide selection of drinks… true neighbor gem 💎!!! Only down side is the Mac n cheese… not traditional and if you love Mac n cheese skip it - I’m not sure if it was chopped green peppers or jalapeños but hard pass !

Greg Treacy: Tried this local bbq place for date night and it was amazing. The brisket was very juicy and tender. The pulled pork was delicious. The fried Brussel sprouts with their signature sauce is very tasteful. The fried onions were amazing with whatever spices they coated them with. Everything was just delicious and worth the money! The staff was nice and helpful. This place is also really clean and lively.

Terrence Lonelle: Some of the best BBQ I have had in a long time. Everything was on point! The brisket...my God...so good. Wait time was not an issue at all. Frozen daiquiris was everything. My mom and I had a frozen combo of the Pink Panther and Orange Cream - delicious! Overall, great 1st time experience. Friendly staff and inviting atmosphere. Parking I would say was the only down fall, but a staff member did help us out with that...plus it is was Pride weekend 😊. Will definitely come back again. Highly recommend!

Ethan Z: Great Restaurant!! This is a BBQ place with food that was super good. You order at the counter and sit to wait for you food to be brought to you. They have a full service bar as well. They have a heated tent to add to more indoor settings when cold (it looked like it would open up for nicer weather). The staff were professional and friendly!! Overall great!!

Heather Benner: Best food we have had on our trip to DC...might be some of the best BBQ I have had. Been to Carolina, to Kansas City, to Santa Maria CA... the smoked rib tips were to die for. Kids had the pulled pork sandwiches (super yum). I recommend the fried Brussels sprouts, the grits, and the Mac n Jack cheese. Well worth the drive to this lovely local neighborhood gem!

Doris Nicholson: Nice cuts of meat, friendly staff, clean restaurant except 1 bathroom. Food was on point, juicy and very tasty. I had the beef ribs with a side of potato salad and their mango refresher. My guest had the brisket sandwich with a side of baked beans. Add the barbeque to the beans and it's on the money!

Andre Morrison: I love some good BBQ! This is a nice low key spot, my wife and I enjoyed it. Ask Marcus to whip you up an alcoholic slushie!I had the smoked sandwich with jerk wings and collard greens, smh fire! The house BBQ sauce is good, give this spot a try people.

Patrick Young: Food was mostly good with the brussel sprouts definitely being their best. The wings were a little underwhelming in flavor. The place is extremely pricey in my opinion compared to the food quality
Response: It has been awhile since we had a first time guest compare us to Federalist Pig. Years ago a gentlemen there started with our owner at his first location. When we purchased and moved going on 6 years now to our new location our owner brought in new staff and changed every recipe to reflect a DC style of BBQ. Love to see some pics of the 5 star meal you had at our old pitmasters spot. I assume you came to see us since they are closed and do not open 7 days a week. Thank you for sharing but maybe you had BBQ on your mind and you could not get what you really wanted and no matter what we served you it just was not the same. We got it, but tell Rob (former Pitmaster here) this at Fed Pig and maybe he will stop working part time....

David Brenton: We went to the smokehouse for an early Saturday dinner. Overall solid experience . The pulled pork and brisket were definite highlights. The beans were smokey and delicious, Mac had just a little heat from jalapenos and hush puppies were great. Frozen daiquiri to wash it all down...have the bartender mix and match for the best flavor. I wouldn't say it was the best bbq I've ever had but very solid for city bbq and the staff were super cool.

Michael Benner: Some of the best BBQ I've ever had, and I've had a bunch. Definitely the best rib tips in recent memory. Would definitely return. (Fed a family of four, including two teenage boys, with a couple of beers for under $100. Even took home leftovers).

Backyard Smoke Spot BBQ: what do users think?

Nick H.: I come to this place often for the Smoked Wings. In my opinion they are worth every penny that they cost. They have two versions jerk smoked or maple smoked. I found the jerk kind to be a bit too spicy for my liking and the maple hits just right. Every time I go there wasn’t really a wait to order and the food would usually come out in under 15 minutes. I do with they would allow for indoor seating. I drive almost 40 minutes one way and then 40 minutes back just for their wings. So it would be nice if they allowed for indoor seating to allow myself to eat a few of them first before I make my way back home. My reason for the 4 stars and not 5 is because of the value for the other things on the menu in my opinion isn’t there. I tried the stuffed salmon a few times and every time I got it the salmon would be overcooked, rice would be hard, and then the stuffed part of the salmon with the crab doesn’t seem to be seasoned well. They charge almost 40 dollars for that and I was expecting better.

Travis Williamson: Ended up stopping by this place yesterday (6/8/22) the jerk wings were fantastic and the sides were good as well (4/5). Good to see a BBQ spot that actually puts effort into their sides and not just there meat. Will definitely come back to try ribs and fish entrees

Larry “Big Schlim” Mcleod: Excitement ill describes my fervor in patronizing this spot!! I definitely was diligent in researching this city corner delicacy, I knew EXACTLY what I wanted when I walked in the door and I got more than what was expected!! Y’all...you want a thick, juicy, mouthwatering, lightly breaded, evenly seasoned, jumbo lump, fresh fresh, crab cake? You don’t have to go to Baltimore... @backyardsmokespot got that!! Hold up...do you want succulent, grilled, tender, no grizzle, sizzling, lamb chops? @backyardsmokespot got that!! Remember this location... 4701 Georgia Ave, N.W. Washington D.C. 20011... remember it, because YOU will be back again and, again, and, again...infinity!! Their menu items include fried fish and shrimp, Bbq ribs, slow smoked maple or jerk wings, crab stuffed salmon, pork chops, seafood Mac n Cheese (pictured and ridiculously delicious), collard greens (pictured, fresh, and delectable), garlic mashed potatoes, hush puppies, fries, and grilled asparagus. I truly wanted everything on the menu...really!! Now you will have to check on the prices in store because, I assume, the prices fluctuate. I paid $50 bucks for the meal pictured (A crab cake, seafood Mac n Cheese, and collard greens). Now hold up...that price is in line with most top tier restaurants...I looked it up. It’s totally worth it good people, I will return...the food is THAT GOOD...period. You will no longer feel compelled to go to Baltimore to get some premium seafood...it’s right here in D.C.. Parking was ok, it’s Georgia Ave, so envision that. Their customer service is impeccable, I was greeted, welcomed, they exuded patience, a menu was presented, they were kind and gave recommendations. You’re doing yourself a disservice if you are craving bbq grilled food and/or seafood. You MUST go there or you’re truly square!! That’s it. **This establishment is Covid compliant** My stop at this spot was not the first time I’ve been here…and it surely will not be the last! So when I saw their post of a specialty, off menu item, I rolled out to get it with the quickness! This establishment has a constant flow of patrons, & their food will have you planning your next visit!! . Where I am: @backyardsmokespot . Location Reviewed: 4701 Georgia Ave., Washington D.C. . Menu Includes : Fried fish, Shrimp, Bbq/jerk ribs, slow smoked maple or jerk wings, crab, stuffed salmon, salmon, pork chops, wingettes, lamb, Mac n Cheese, Lobster mac n cheese, collard greens, garlic mashed potatoes, hush puppies, fries, grilled asparagus, candid yams, seafood salad, mixed collard greens, & cabbage. . Reviewed: Their off menu Crab & Lobster egg rolls (2 rolls with Mac n Cheese, & Garlic Butter String Beans $39.99). STAMP the Rolls!! Decadent, & seasoned well with a crispy shell!! You tasted the lobster & lump crab meat in each bite!! The Mac n Cheese was absolutely DELICIOUS!! Per my other visits, this dish stays consistent. The Green beans were DECENT. They weren’t fresh. Their Smoked Wingettes (4) & Pork Ribs (2) combo (with their house made bbq sauce, asparagus, & garlic mashed potatoes $22.99). The Ribs…STAMP!! Tender, juicy, RIGHT!! The Wingettes…STAMP!! Don’t be fooled by the looks…these things seasoned well, & tasty!! STAMP Their bbq sauce too. Sweet with a touch of vinegar!! The Garlic mashed potatoes…DELICIOUS!! Buttery, & savory, they use a red potato!! The Asparagus…PASS! I was a tad bit disappointed with these. They were limp, and flavorless. . Customer Service: Excellent!!! Clean establishment, Welcoming, Take out only. . Online Navigation: Simple. . Parking: Street parking. . Recommendations: Definitely get the Crab & Lobster Rolls!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️=STAMP ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️=DELICIOUS ⭐️⭐️⭐️=DECENT ⭐️⭐️=PASS ⭐️=NAH #Bigschlimsreviews
Response: Thanks alot for your great review. We pride ourselves in providing the best food possible. Continue to check out our ig page for weekly specials.

Kay Kay: 1st time trying this spot i told him over the phone it was my 1st time & I’ve been wanting salmon lately. He recommended me to the jerk salmon ( i like spicy). He offered me asparagus to go with it but i went with the mac&cheese and garlic mash potatoes! OH MY GOSH!! it’s as good! As it looks! Well portion! Stuff salmon with real crab lump meat well seasoned! I posted this picture on my IG you should definitely have so new customers! And I’m one of them :)
Response: Thanks alot. We're happy you enjoyed everything. Check our ig page for special dishes.

Deirdra Hughes: We, saw the pictures on our daughter's IG feed. Call her and asked how was the food and she only liked the way it looked. So what the heck we went anyway, very pleased. The crab cake on a buttered brioche bun was delicious, the ribs were seasoned to the bone. The jerk wings were a little salty for me, but otherwise the flavor was great I will get them again. Also it is a BBQ spot so we had to try the pulled pork sandwich with coleslaw. The one so so item it was good, but was nothing compared to the other meat items we had; had no depth of flavor. Now, let's get to the sides we ordered cabbage and garlic mashed potatoes outstanding. The customer of service was great the chef was out front and took our order. We will go back soon! Forgive the half eaten picture just could not wait.
Response: Thank you alot for your review. We appreciate you trying us out.

Rasheeda Boyd: I loved the food and the smoke wings had so much flavor. Mac and Cheese and candid yams were great. That Maple sauce was to die for.

Tawnya Butler: The best place for BBQ hands down. Their customer service is impeccable. The food is delicious. The jerk ribs and the regular ribs fall off the bone, and their BBQ sauce the spicy one is my favorite. Their yams and baked mac and cheese melt in your mouth. The only thing I wish they had was a dine in place, but this will definitely be a place I visit every single time.

Rashika Boyd: The food is amazing and taste so good, the only problem was my smoked chicken wings was over cooked. The sauce given with my food 🤯🤤, I wanted to drown my chicken and ribs in it!

Shanta D: First time eating at this spot, did a online order and delivery with uber eats. I did the lunch special smoked leg quarter with collard green a and green beans. You can choose your sauce of jerk or maple and I got the maple. The chicken was full of smokey flavors and seasoned very well, had a little kick but like it, like it a lot. Both veggies that I got was delicious. The greens a little salty but good other wise. I will be coming back to order more from the menu. Wanna try that lamb!!! Keep up the good work Backyard Smoke Spot.
Response: Thanks alot for your good review. Yes try the lamb it's our #1 seller.

Chris Hooks: Couldn't say if the food was good or it was because I waited over an hour to get it? It started with ordering through door dash and arriving around the time they said it would be ready. Then, the restaurant called and said one of the sides was out, and we needed to choose an alternate. Cool went in after waiting for the initial 45 minutes, and they said it would be another 20 minutes now. I'm confused because first only a side needed to be changed. As I continued to wait I saw other customers begin stack up waiting for their orders . Eventually, my order came up an hour and 20 minutes later. Then, they forgot one of my sides. I love supporting black owned, but we have to do better with customer service
Response: Hi Chris, Sorry about the experience you had while ordering through Door Dash. We've had an issue with how they have our menu items. As of now we have changed some things on that platform. We appreciate you supporting our business and would like the chance to provide you with the good service and food we have. We hope to see you again so we can show you how we were awarded best BBQ in Washington DC from the Insider magazine.

The Pig: what do users think?

Sam M: One of My favorite BBQ restaurants in DC. I visited this place several times and really had a great experience. This place could get pretty busy during the weekend dinner service, so I would definitely recommend making a reservation ahead of time. Inside of the restaurant was relatively clean and had enough seating for big groups. Pretty much all the dishes I tried here were delicious, but my favorite was pork chops and smoked ribs. They also have an extensive drink and dessert menu. I really loved their strawberry shortcake. It literally melts in your mouth. Servers were very friendly and attentive during the whole dinner. I highly recommend this restaurant for some good BBQ!

Lord Edwin Carreon: I really like The Pig. I’ve been 3 times (once pre-COVID-19 Pandemic and twice in the Pandemic) and have consistently enjoyed my experience. At its core, The Pig is a barbecue joint. It does offer some upscale and fancier items, which I like. The hi-low effect is well done at The Pig. The dining room is dimly lit and cozy with its wood booths and industrial finishes. The addition of the patio offers a more casual outdoor experience. Some of my favorite items include their St. Louis Smoked Ribs and Brisket Ragu. The ribs are fall-off-the-bone tender and perfectly smoked and sauced. Honestly, the side dishes are nice accompaniments, but don’t necessarily augment the dish. The Brisket Ragu is a perfect hi-low dish offering tender chunks of smoked brisket in a delicate, unctuous tomato and red wine sauce that beautifully coats chewy tagliatelle pasta. My favorite item on the menu is the Heritage Shank. (“12-hour confit pork shank, Yunnan potato puree, leafy spinach, roasted garlic and ginger gastric [sic].”) It’s a special dish that offers a generous portion of tender and juicy pork whose taste is amplified by the side dishes. The ginger gastrique is exceptional and balances the fatty richness of the pork. I will say, like many restaurants after these past two years, The Pig’s menu has shrunk. I really miss some of their signature items, like their bone marrow appetizer. They were unique, exceptionally delicious dishes that should return. Moreover, the portion sizes have definitely gotten smaller. Lastly, service 2/3 of the times I’ve been have been stellar, with attentive and kind wait staff. The other time I’ve been, our server was nice enough, but forgot several things we asked for (an alteration to a dish, ordering another drink, and bringing us more napkins).

Beverlyn Salva: Okay, here me out. If you or your partner haven’t eaten anything since breakfast and HAS been walking around DC ALL day and you’re looking for some food to eat? I’d recommend the Pig! My boyfriend and I have made a list of food places to go before going on our trip and so we can just pick and go.They have some great appetizers and entrees, drinks are delish, dessert is also delish… but what really amazed me is our server Kima. She was super knowledgeable, blissful, great personality and her customer service is on point. That’s what I usually look for when eating out. We love to eat but we also like to know what the front of house can do to make our dining experience better. :) Thank you Kima and the Pig (DC).

Anna: It's simply ok BBQ place. We tried the chicken and the BBQ platter - especially the second one was a good idea to see different options.

Joel Pagett: I enjoyed a fantastic meal in The Pig, and I would have no hesitation recommending it to others. The Bao Buns to start were incredible, and the Pork Shoulder steak was sensational as well. Certainly worth a visit if you’re in Washington and looking for a delicious dinner.

Rae Elle: The saddest excuse for bbq I've ever seen. My "smoked brisket" was neither smoked nor fresh. The server said the cornbread was great and fresh. Two big lies. Suffice to say I'll never return. My meal was so upsettingly disgusting I only took one bite. Other people at my table tried it too and confirmed it was rubbish on a plate.

Chrissy Hernandez: The food here was amazing...we had a lil but if everything. They could use more variety in the drinks menu but not a big deal. 2 must haves, the sticky wings and the cornbread!!! The cornbread is by far the best I've ever tasted!!!!

Ben Multak: Good flavors but not my favorite BBQ I’ve ever had. Federalist Pig has better BBQ but the ambiance of this place is much bette. Drinks were also very good and they are able to accommodate large groups.

Columbia City Bouquet: We come here every time we are in town. The cocktails are delicious. The food is super tasty. And we always have a blast with our waiters/bartenders- this time Michael was especially fun. Don’t go in thinking it’s going to be the best barbecue you’ve ever had straight from Austin, but it will surely be delicious. Eat the Brussels sprouts.

Tom P: I guess I'd call this place upscale BBQ. There's a medium sized dining room and a big bar. They have a huge bourbon and whiskey selection. We sat at the bar, and Mallory was super nice and gave us top notch service. We had the smoked ribs platter, and the smoked brisket platter. Both were delicious. The cheddar cornbread with honey butter was amazing, and the peach habanero BBQ sauce served with the brisket was insane. For the two of us, with no appetizers or alcoholic beverages, the check came to $60, so it's not cheap. In terms of quality, the food wasn't much better than a chain place, like Mission BBQ, but in terms of flavor and creativity, it's so much better. Would definitely go back. Parking in the area can be hard to find, especially on weekends. Reservations are highly recommended.

Texas Jack’s Barbecue: what do users think?

Anthony: Honestly thought I'd enjoy this place a lot more, but was surely disappointed as the result. I heard a lot of great reviews about this place so I decided to check this place out for lunch with a friend on a Sunday afternoon. Both my friend and I were excited about trying out the BBQ, but didn't enjoy it as much as we thought. The Food: I went with the brisket, sausage links, pulled pork and a side of a small Mac n cheese. To start, I had some deviled eggs which were pretty good. The flavor was there and I had no complaints. As for the main entrees, the brisket was dry. There wasn't one moist brisket on my plate and the seasoning/char was overtly seasoned and salty. I had some BBQ sauce with the meats, and that didn't help much with the taste either. However, the sausage links and pulled pork were good. The links were snappy and the pulled pork was nice and juicy. I will say though, I didn't enjoy the BBQ sauce selection they had as it was incredibly watery. The Service: The service was great! The staff were friendly when we walked in and was able to get us a seat outside to enjoy the weather. Our waiter came back a few times to give us water refills and check in the food. The restaurant was nicely decorated as well, had a very nice southern theme. Overall, solid 3/5. I don't think I'll be coming back as I'll be looking for better BBQ elsewhere. However, it could've just been an off day.

Lolita Pollard-Kezele: The food was delicious. We are going back. They had a group of high school students there from Nebraska. One hundred and ten 11th graders! I was impressed by that alone. They sat us quickly and our food came in good timing. We ordered Pork Ribs Bbq chicken Devil eggs Collard greens Brisket sandwich with egg Side salad Cornbread Max and cheese Baked beans Everything was good Favorites we're mac and cheese, cornbread, eggs, and chicken. The salad was fresh! Everything was good. They have outside dining if you prefer. They also have a side with a bar and television. My 9-year-old who likes to eat gave it a 9 out of 10. My husband that doesn't eat any meat on the bone enjoyed his brisket sandwich. My 1-year old ate a little bit of everything. If all 3 of my men like the food then we will return.

Haley Markusson: i heard high praise of texas jacks and this bbq did not disappoint! to start we got the brisket egg rolls which are so good they rival my other favorite philly cheese steak egg rolls. my parents and i shared the regular meat medley for our entrees. all the meat was so well seasoned and cooked but my favorites were the pulled pork and the brisket. for our sides we got brussel sprouts, mac and cheese, coleslaw, and corn bread. the brussel sprouts were so delicious and the mac and cheese had the perfect cheese ratio. for dessert we got the german chocolate cake, which had a decent amount of coconut filling, the banana pudding which was just ok, and the bread pudding that was literally the best thing i’ve ever eaten. the portion sizes were so large that we were eating leftovers for two days after our visit. the staff here is super kind and helpful. they answered any questions we had and were very attentive. overall this place was great and i would definitely come back

Jesse Boyd: This place need to learn how to make real BBQ. The owner is from Greece, and the head Chef is from NY… just hearing that it changed my opinion on the food but I was like hey let me give it a try. The drinks were the best thing I had that what I can say. I have had BBQ all over the nation and this ranks last for me. The brunt ends where dry and had no meat on them, they had no BBQ sauce on them. It wasn’t a different between them in the brisket. I know they are the same meat but they should be there own favor and it wasn’t there. The staff was super nice and was on top of everything we needed. The mac and cheese was dry as well and not well seasoned.

David Freeman: Absolutely fantastic. If I could give this place 6 stars, I would. Let's start off with the service. Very good, not extremely superb, but probably 8/10. The appetizer(Jacks Tacos) were terrific. The only problem, was that it came out with our entrees, and the sever out it in front of me. This was a problem, as I forgot what I ordered, so late the entire thing before my dad decided to tell me that it was the appetizer that I was eating. Therefore, I had to eat an appetizer, and an entree, and pretty much 2 deserts. Fun. I didn't complain though, as the tacos were stupendous. Juicy meat, and great flavor. The huevos rancheros were even better. I ate these in probably 5 minutes(because I was hungry, but mostly because they were great"). I tried the burrito bañado (my dads entree), and that was super good as well. Both deserts were very good, but the banana pudding was very heavy, and not AS banana-y as I would have liked. Great experience, and everyone should go here at least once.

Rob Pence: The meat sampler was the bomb. I had the collard greens and Brussel sprouts as sides. The pulled pork was savory and the ribs were spiced just right. The brisket meat was tender with the mild sauce. The portions are very good and I brought some home. I added the pulled pork to my egg whites for breakfast. You can't go wrong by eating here.

Nickie Sattler: Since we do our own BBQ, we are pretty picky about defining good BBQ. Texas Jack’s is good BBQ. Very much reminds me of BBQ from Texas. Brisket is seasoned with salt, pepper, and maybe some garlic. The moist brisket was smoked well and flavorful. The beef short rib and chicken was good as well. The brisket hash was amazing. Highly recommend.

Francesco de Luca: Amazing restaurant, serving proper Texan barbecue. I had the mixed platter and the nachos to share, everything was great. Service was quick and our server was very kind. Would definitely recommend!

Anthony Godfrey: Fabulous meal and great service. Caught the tail end of Happy Hour for a drink and and the brisket nachos, but the star of the show was the meat medley with beans & slaw. Best brisket I’ve had in years. Ribs extraordinary.

Nena Potillo: Was driving to my hotel after my work day and passed by here so decided to stop in see what's going on. Pulled up Google and saw some good reviews + I love BBQ and I'm so happy I stopped. Ordered the tacos (1 of ea) + the brisket egg rolls and only need 1 long w word top describe.... Yuuuuummmmyyy 😋. Definitely added to my faves for when I'm working in the area again!! $$

Rocklands Barbeque & Grilling Company: what do users think?

K Jay: Update: I decided to give it another try. The beef ribs were really flavorful and tender. My sides were delicious as well (onion rings and salad). It was a bit expensive, but the meal was definitely enjoyable. The service was friendly and attentive. Definitely a better experience. _______________________________________________ Original review: After hearing positive reviews about Rocklands, I purposed to check them out. I have to give them another chance because I am a little disappointed. I opted to dine in but needed my meal in a to-go setup. I was obliged but did not receive my order until I walked to the counter. The staff were apologetic but did not offer to replace the meal (they were supposed to bring it where I was seated). The place is clean, with steady customer traffic. The aroma fills the air before even getting close to the parking lot. My food was cold and I felt a bit underwhelmed by the portions. The brisket had a nice bite and flavor but was teetering on the dry side. I found myself needing to use sauce to eat. And the sauce was pretty tasty. My sides were cold so I really could not enjoy. In all, I will try again at a later date and update. I cannot really say for now. They were very apologetic upon my exiting, but my view remains unchanged.
Response: Hi K Jay - yes, please do come back and try us again. We hope to WOW you next time.

Critical Chris: Went here on a Sunday evening close to closing time, which is probably why it looks quiet in the photos. I had a wonderful three meat platter with collard greens & cole slaw. Succulent sauces too; just a little dab compliments the meat. And I ordered some grilled wings that had a great bark on em! I’m definitely coming back soon.
Response: Thank you, Critical Chris!!! Love the name and appreciate your business!

Nathan Fowlkes: It was alright. I had a pit beef sandwich but it had a lot of fatty bits, and fell apart easily. Fries were good but my brothers were a completely darker color. Maybe would have been better with vinegar. Overall pretty alright.

Chante Fox: I wanted BBQ but didn’t expect my food to be burnt and taste like gasoline form the grill. :( Order via DoorDash.
Response: Hi Chante, we are so very sorry you did not enjoy your meal. We obviously don't use gasoline - just wood :) Would love to have you come back and try us again.... Please reach out to info@rocklands.com if you'd like more information on how we cook our barbeque. Thank you! Hope to see you again.

Joan Davis: Placed an advanced order for pick up at 6:15pm. When I arrived early, at 6pm, the order was ready and waiting. I appreciated the easy pick up with no wait, but wondered how long it had been prepared and waiting. It was still hot when I got it to my friends house 15 minutes later. We ordered the 4 person family meal deal plus an extra pound of lamb. Lamb was either really tough or melt in your mouth delicious depending on the piece you got. Strange. The chicken and brisket were both delicious, but a bit dry. The BBQ sauce was fantastic and helped the meat considerably. Fresh rolls and nice moist cornbread! We had the black bean salad, Caesar salad and Mac and cheese as sides. All tasty, but not really memorable. It was a good value as the family meal for 4 (plus an extra pound of meat) served 3 adults and 2 hungry teenagers with plenty left for the following 2 days. I would definitely return, but probably would not order in advance - I think we might have done better and had a 5 star experience if we just ordered at the counter and waited. I was surprised they weren't busier on a Saturday evening. Oh, and bonus, there were spots available in their parking lot!
Response: Hi Joan, thanks for taking the time to write your review - we appreciate it! Look forward to having you back!

Annie: LOVE this place. We come for the blue plate special at least once a week, so we've tried a lot of the menu. Anything is good. Sides are fantastic. My favorites are the killer onion rings, mashed potatoes and corn. They have many options. Seating is indoor and outdoor.

James Derenge: Barbecue varies so much from place to place. I tried the pork ribs and a 1/4 chicken platter. The chicken was tasty with a nice smoke flavor. Not to dry. The ribs were done well and I enjoyed them immensely. The sauce was good, but not my favorite. The beans were the bomb. Cole slaw was not to my liking. Overall Rocklands is pretty good.
Response: Hey, James! Yes, please come back and try our other sauces - we have TONS of them :) Sweet & Smoky, Spicy Mustard, and more!

Eric Lee: Great value. Good amount of food for price relative to what I’ve had in the area for barbeque. Got beef ribs, spare ribs, Mac and cheese, slaw, brisket. Probably would just get beef ribs and Mac again, and the other things. To be honest, it’s not the best I’ve had but it gets the job done- especially with the price and vibe. It’s comfortable to eat there. Definitely coming back to the more!
Response: Thank you, Eric! Look forward to having you back too!

Matt Tran: Wonderful service. I ordered the ribs and it was more food than I expected. But it was all delicious!!
Response: Thank you, Matt! Glad you enjoyed it!

L. Y.: Good barbeque at reasonable prices. Love their side dishes. The Texas corn pudding is great! Love the beans, too, because they aren't too sweet. The spare ribs can be tough at times and tender other times. Kind of hit or miss with the ribs. Would have given 5 stars if not for the hit or miss ribs.
Response: Hi L.Y. - thanks for your review! Wanted to let you know we have thick-cut brisket too - this option should be available when ordering online and also in stores - just let us know your preference :)

Smokin' Pig: what do users think?

Christopher Tate: I ordered ribs at 12:45 PM on Sunday March 13th.. I purposely ordered early so that I can get fresh food.. I've never eaten here before and never will again. The food was burnt to the crisp as you will see in the picture and when I arrived there was only one customer sitting at the bar yet it took 20 minutes to get served. The young lady knew my name and ask me if I was Christopher based on the order. When I got home I was sincerely terribly disappointed. I live 35 minutes from the restaurant and did not have time to go back but I'm telling you it is the worst barbecue I've ever had in the Washington DC area.

AJ Castilla: Got myself a pickup order to go of the Big Tennessee Salmon drilpin in Jack Daniels Bourbon sauce, topped with fried string onions on Texas toast. Super friendly waitress almost inspired me to stay. How was it?...Oh my my, it was lip smackin' tongue teasin' finger licken' awesome!!! 😋❤...Thank you so much for making this killa sandwhich, I'm in food coma heaven 🙏 The rest of you, need to get up on dis place muy pronto!

John Wright: Came with my girlfriend this evening and I was blown away. A nice H street gem that has a heavy southern influence. The rustic esthetic paired with the welcoming staff set the expectations for a great experience. Generous portion sizes paired with cheap pricing guarantees that I’ll be back again very soon. Would recommend for anyone looking for a nice down home dining experience.

john brown: I will say this is probably one of my favorite places to eat when I'm in the area. Food is amazing people that work there are really amazing as well. Definitely will go back next time in the area.

Ravyn: Dining in the food is tasty. The delivery food sucks and the wings are huge

latanja bryant: Low key relaxing music friendly staff... Bartender stated she was new an still learning. She was greatMade sure we were ok with menu, clean an the food was AMAZING.. TRULY SATISFYING!!!!... Will be back again an again. Been twice in two weeks... Blessings

Heath: Got the 1/2 rack platter with slaw and greens. More than I could eat and only $20. Ribs were nicely cooked and seasoned, not fall-off-the-bone, but they didn’t need to be since they were very tender, and the sides were tasty. Ambience and music were great, and the service by my attentive bartender, Sparkle, was excellent. I also like that they have two spots up against the garage door opening to sit and people watch. Great place to grab some bbq with friendly staff.

Katrina Rivera: This place was absolutely delicious. The staff was super friendly. I had the smokin aces platter and it was fantastic. I am typically not a fan of bruss sprouts but they made them super tasty. Worth the stop and I'll be coming back the next time I'm in town.

J. Jones: I went on a a Sunday. I was excited about trying their bbq, greens, and Mac and cheese. My server Maya was wonderful. Even we she had to tell other guests and me that there was no more mac and cheese, she allowed me to taste their potato salad which was really good. I’d recommend to go earlier in the evening on Sunday to get the sides before they run out but also show Maya some love as she worked hard that night to take care of all of the customers.

Jeremy Albrecht: If you were to Live in Memphis or Texas, this is what is called “Tourist BBQ.” Just average in every possible way. Dry ribs, that just kind of had a strange consistency. A little one oz cup of sauce on the side. The briscut somehow comes out in a consistency of Roast Beef. Chewy and kind of dry as well. The baked beans were straight out of a can. I would recommend that you try somewhere else. While I admit I am a bit picky about BBQ, as I have had some of the countries best. I would actually prefer to go to, say a franchise Mission BBQ, before this place. The truth is that I was REALLY hoping this place would be great as I just moved to the area. I ate one rib, my gf one piece of brisket, then we left. The bartender was kind of standoffish, rolled her eyes often, and just seemed like she did not want to be bothered while talking to friends. I get it, restaurant work sucks. I did it for a decade at least. But this place literally has zero going for it, no to mention they did not have the beverages they advertised on the specials out front. So there you go. My H street Smoking pig experience.

garden district: what do users think?

Britt Van: Garden District always delivers: consistently excellent food, beer, wine, service, and atmosphere. Also very dog-friendly. They serve up some of the best BBQ around. You really can’t go wrong with anything on the menu, but their fried chicken sandwich is phenomenal (a constant craving). They have a thoughtful, intriguing, well-balanced offering of beer, and perhaps unexpectedly, a delightful and unique selection of wine, and they make an effort to secure some limited releases and other special, novel, or somewhat rare items. You can also find cider, liquor (including some approachable, good bourbon), hard seltzer, and non-alcoholic beverages on the menu. GD are good people: the staff are welcoming, knowledgeable, and on top of it, and provide excellent, no-frills service that keeps the food and drink moving and the vibe laid back. They give a damn about their business and about you. Also, even at their busiest, the bathrooms are clean and stocked, which is a testament to their diligence and care. With the prime location, ample outdoor space, and wide appeal of beer garden fare, GD doesn’t have to go as hard as it does. Garden District would be my go-to spot just from the dependably excellent food, drink, and convenience alone, but above all, it is their diligent and friendly staff and the easy, convivial environment they work so hard to provide that keeps me (and basically everyone I know) coming back. That, and my apparent addiction to their fried chicken.

Jennifer Roberson: Such a great spot! Wonderful food such great cider and tons of tasty beer! Highly recommend, they have heaters so get cozy and head over! You'll love it there! 😀

Shankar Kulumani: Great beer garden in heart of 14th Street. Lots of outdoor seating. Very fast service. Pretzels and burgers are great. 1L beers are reasonably priced as well

Kent Gunlicks: My fried chicken burger was good and the upgrade to hush puppies was enough food to share a few pups with friends. The bathroom was clean, and they actually show prices for beer on the menu so there's no surprise.

Hector Pavon: Small place with sort of a garage feeling to it; DC prices, no wifi. Pretzel was great!

Garage Band: Everyone I know consistently has terrible interactions with the staff...always incredibly rude. Incredibly expensive too. Can't want for Aslin Beer to open across the street.

Callum Sankey: Stopped by to grab a quick bite. Ordered the 'standard burger' basket. Expected the nothing special from a $12 meal in DC. But wow, this was the best burger I've had in a long time. Forget shake shack, forget five guys, this is the best burger I've had on the east coast. My expectations were blown out of the water. Oh, and the outdoor seating is absolutely lovely. Definitely returning next time I'm near U st.

Gregory Fox: Fantastic food. The brisket is incredible and the Mac and cheese was awesome. They have great fries, the pulled pork, Cole slaw, and bbq beans are really tangy which I like. The Cuban sandwich was also very yummy. Also, good beer and they offer German sausages as well. Can't go wrong!

Denise Nunez: garden district was a little place I found as I was roaming the DC area. We’re from NY, so we were so pleased to find GREAT, AUTHENTIC southern BBQ. we had the brisket sandwich, pulled pork sandwich, mac and cheese & onion rings. 10/10. Also had some double shot drinks🍺 great vibes, and atmosphere. will be coming back next time 😁👏🏼

Tanium T: It's alright. They have a nice outdoor area, but its not very well protected from the rain. Staff is nice.

BBQ Bus Catering Co.: what do users think?

Kenny Ferguson: We used the BBQ Bus for a work event this past week and they did a great job! The food was hot, fresh and came out fast. They have been a pleasure to work with from the start of planning this event. We had to change dates due to Covid and the owners worked with us. Excellent customer service. We will be using them again!

Joe Nastri: Great local spot for regional BBQ in upper northern DC. Friendly staff as others have mentioned. Good selection of smoked meats and associated sides. What I've tasted thus far is pretty good. They offer a mix of smoked meat sandwiches and platters sized for individuals or large party / family (latter called SUPER PACs). You'll occasional see entree or side specials at the front desk. Primarily a takeout shop but there's enough space for about 12 patrons to eat. 7 days a week but not super late hours. All fine. Short walking distance to the nearby Walmart on Georgia Ave, so a nice option before or after shopping. I'll be back.

Lindsay Templeton: Tried this for the first time from doordash during quarantine and it was delicious. The smoky pulled pork sandwich was huge and perfectly tender with great flavor combination. The Mac & cheese was good, and the greens were on the sweeter side. Will definitely eat here again.

Karthik: Got the Angus brisket and it was perfect! Definitely the best bbq place I've been to inside DC. The sides we're okay, the fries could use some salt in that seasoning mix, but otherwise not a bad deal for $15.

Roberta Cavitt: We ordered ahead when this famous food truck came to our neighborhood. It was not cheap, but we love BBQ. Feedback on BBQ Sampler: The Sampler photo shows "sliced" beef brisket. Our sampler had "chopped" brisket. The written description did not indicate "chopped." We prefer sliced. The pulled pork and chicken were good. Feedback on Half Rack of Ribs: They were big, but very fatty. The meat was NOT tender. There was something about the taste (a spice or wood type?) that we did not like. It was as if someone had poured an entire bottle of liquid smoke on them. BBQ sauces: Very good to excellent. Vinegar-based Slaw: Excellent. Garlic Mashed Potatoes: OK Pickles: Excellent Rolls: Excellent
Response: Hi Roberta, thank you for your review. Obviously this wasn't the experience we wanted for you. If you'd send the date, time and order number to che@bbqbusdc.com we'll of course process a refund for your meal. I'd also like to send you some BBQ Bus Bucks for a future order, if you'd like to give us a second chance.

Lawrence Dowery: BBQ Sauce #5 was so much love and the pull pork sandwich was outstanding. Can tell the baked beans was made from scratch which was refreshing. Mac and cheese was perfect

Tonny Wong: I tired the BBQ brisket and ribs from their food truck with great disappointment. The meat have not texture at all as if it was made in a pressure cooker. Ribs are the same. I am particular about food texture and mouth feel and there might be people who actually like their food this way but I do not understand how these BBQ does have any no smoke flavor? Not recommended.
Response: Hi Tony, thanks for your feedback, and I’m so sorry to hear about your experience. If you’d please send the date and approximate time of your visit to che@bbqbusdc.com I’d like take a closer look as well as process a refund for you. I’d also like to send you some BBQ Bus Bucks for a future meal, if you’d give us another try.

Greg Antrim: We ordered brisket, pulled pork, pulled chicken, and wings. Everything was outstanding. Just as good as any others around (ie.... Fed Piggy). Portion sizes were great. Smoke flavor was prominent and excellent. Sides were very good. And their sauces could be bottled. This will be a regular for me now!
Response: Wow, thanks for the very nice review and the stars! So happy to hear you enjoyed your meal. We hope to see you again soon.

Joanna Hurt: Ordered the chicken and pork BBQ sandwich catering for my office today, and it was a huge hit! The meat was great with all the sauces and the pickled veggies were delicious. People also loved the beans and mac and cheese. We will definitely order again!
Response: Thank you so much for your order and kind review Joanna! Catering is our specialty, so we're really glad you enjoyed it. Please give us a call anytime you need anything!

Norma Woody: I ordered a meal for the first time and must admit that this meal was absolutely delicious. The spareribs were meaty and tender, the bake beans had a very delightful flavor that can become additive and the French fries were seasoned the way I like it. Will try the pickles on my next order. Have to eat my corn muffins now😇.
Response: Thank you for the kind review, so happy to hear you enjoyed your meal!

SmokeDatt Barbecue: what do users think?

Spiral Tote: 17Dec.2021 I was here waiting on food and the owners were taking pics of their freshly cooked food to put on social media and I helped them a little bit. The owners seasoned some delicious 🤤 freshly fried pork rinds and gave them to me. So awesome. The rinds were so flavorful and crispy. I killed them hard and it hit the spot. Right place at the right time. Thank you SmokeDatt BBQ and Catering.

Monique Banks: SmokeDatt Barbecue food and service are top notch. I hired them last minute for my husband's birthday party and they did an awesome job. Our guests raved about their brisket and smoked chicken wings. It takes a lot to impress me, but the SmokeDatt team truly exceeded my expectations. They will definitely be my go to for any catering needs.

Ebony Thomas: What a great experience! We used George and his team at SmokeDatt Barbeque to cater a 50+ person corporate event. The entire process leading up to the event was seamless. George was responsive and helped us curate an extensive menu within our budget. He even helped us with an off-the-menu punch request. On the day of the event, the team was on time, professional, and friendly. The presentation of the food, condiments, and desserts looked amazing and they came with everything we needed from chaffing dishes to plates and flatware. The food was absolutely delicious (the smoked chicken and the half smokes were personal faves!). Everything was seasoned to perfection. I highly recommend George and his team for any event where you want incredible food and spectacular service. Thank you, SmokeDatt! We hope to work with you again soon!

April West: I reached out to SmokeDatt BBQ and Catering during the busy holiday season. Not only were they very responsive, they also took on my large order of 12 fried turkeys for the church to help feed the DC community on Thanksgiving day. They even offered to carve the turkeys up for us. Everyone raved about how juicy and flavorful the turkeys were. I will definitely be reaching out with more orders! Thanks again for taking care of us. You all are truly a blessing.

Katie Holzman: George came in and set up the best meal for our party! I have never seen such a display of food! The food was amazing!!!!

Kolade Akinwande: While visiting me for his routine dental check up, I had expressed that I was looking to have a dinner for my family. It was at that time Mr. Loving mentioned that he owns a BBQ catering company. This was literally a Godsend being that I was worried about what food to offer guests. I looked into his menu and everything sounded amazing. Mr. Loving was so professional in guiding/ advising me as to what to order, the quantity, and meat selection. Having him cater was the best decision I could've made for this gathering. This food was delivered HOT🔥 ahead of the guest arriving. The aroma smelled fantastic! When my family arrived, let me tell you ..... the first question they asked was "did you grill some food? cause it smells good in here." As they walked into the kitchen to see the trays of food nicely organized on warming racks they all collectively said "ohh we eating good today."😋. Mr. Loving cooked the best meal and I mean the best meal ever💯. My family and siblings said " this brisket is speaking to my soul" " that salmon is everything," "those ribs are the bomb." The food was Fantastic! The taste was authentic and Mr. Loving cooked the hell out of the food👌! Everyone went back for thirds and there was plenty of food remaining to take home. All in all, the ribs, brisket, salmon, Baked chicken, BBQ Chicken, mac n cheese, greens, string beans, mashed potatoes, and corn bread were all on point! I'm glad to have had the opportunity to have Mr. Loving cater my familys Christmas dinner. I definitely will be using his services again!

Ashlee Hoffman: SmokeDatt was absolutely fabulous to work with! George and his crew were professional, respectful and a true joy to work with. George had some great ideas for our menu and everyone at our event raved about the food. Everything was delicious! I will be using SmokeDatt in the future for other events. I rarely complete reviews, but the service and food were so exceptional that I had to write a review for this company! Thanks for an awesome event, George!

Natalie Michel: I can not express how GOOD the food at SmokeDatt was! We’re from Boston and we don’t have BBQ place here or ones that are even good. While looking for a caterer for my sister’s baby shower in DC, I found SmokeDatt Barbecue. From the beginning, the owner George was so helpful and not only that honest. We wanted to try almost everything on the menu and this was only for a party of 20 people. He told me that that was way too much food for that amount of people. I loved his honesty. Most people would’ve taken your order and money. He helped us choose a good amount of food, always quick with responses and overall great customer service. He was also very prompt on his delivery time as well. Now on to the finger licking, amazing food! EVERY SINGLE FOOD CHOICE WAS DELICIOUS! The ribs were so tender, bbq chicken was phenomenal, Mac and cheese, shrimp, mash, brisket, the corn on the cob…I can go on but I’m getting hungry thinking about it! There was not a single negative complaint. The seasoning was there, the flavor, just everything. Most of us never had BBQ besides what we make in our on home but this was everything for first timers and people who’ve had bbq before. Everyone went for 2nds, 3rds and even 4ths and had nothing but wonderful things to say. I am so happy I found this place and we will definitely be using SmokeDatt again in the future!!

Cliff Butler: What can I say about SmokeDatt Barbecue, other than it's the best BBQ in the DC area. I've traveled quite a bit, and I've hit BBQ joints all over the country, from Texas to the Carolinas, and I can confidently state that George's BBQ holds up to all of them. Especially his brisket. Smoking brisket is truly an artform, and George and the team at SmokeDatt could teach a master class. Highly recommend!

Rosalind Price: Mr. George DID NOT disappoint me one bit!!! Brisket Chicken Ribs Mac n Cheese Baked Beans Green Beans Sweet Potato Pie That dog on strawberry lemon pound cake The packaging was nicely done. The food stayed warm for awhile without tray warmers. The meat was so tender, smoked and seasoned well. I willllll be utilizing Mr. George's services in the near future. My guests and I were very satisfied with our meal. There was so much food, I sent my guests home with an abundance of leftovers. Mr. George, thanks again for making my engagement a success!

2Fifty Texas BBQ: what do users think?

Marga S.: Absolutely love it. My son took me out for lunch to one of his favorite place to eat BBQ. The restaurant is located in a quiet neighborhood, close to university of Maryland. I ordered the brisket, beans and Mac and cheese, it was tasty and delicious. Fast service, food nice and warm. Cashier was pleasant.

Paul: Very good Texas style barbecue. Really nice location with cool indoor and outdoor seating. The sides were delicious, especially the mango salad. The brisket was very good although out of the six pieces two were fairly fatty. We didn’t specify lean or moist for the brisket so if we go back, we’ll definitely get lean.
Response: See you next time Paul!

C DJ: Read about the top BBQ spots in Metro DC. I decided to give #1 a try, 2Fifty Texas BBQ. Ordered brisket beans, Texas chili, half pound each of Prime brisket and Pork spare ribs. Delicious. Melt in your mouth. High quality food. I am dying to try the beef ribs, wagyu brisket and the mac and cheese. I live in Alexandria and the drive to 2Fifty is quite a bit but I would go back. Again. And again.
Response: Thank you for driving from Alexandria to try our Menu. See you next time!

Will Lee: Amazing experience at 2 Fifty….! Sublime soft clean smoke resounds through their pork shoulder, and most specifically in their perfect brisket! Fernando a charming and knowledgeable pit master, and owner, took me and my son Jack on a great tour!
Response: It was great having you at our restaurant today, Will and Jack! See you next time!

Kevin Hubbard: My wife and I like finding local non franchises BBQ spots. We have been hit or miss for about 2 years now in all the places we have gone. Not so at 2 fiffy! We rolled up on this spot on Riverdale MD by accident and because we love good BBQ we stopped! We are glad we did! Good portions, great tasting food. The cornbread will make you skip dessert and the Mac and cheese is delicious! We will definitely come back!
Response: Thank you Kevin & Co. See you guys next time!

Jeff Wilson: Best BBQ we have had in the Maryland, DC area by far. Well worth the hour drive. Staff was extremely helpful and kind. We will be back! Ribs, brisket and banana pudding were our favorites.
Response: Thank you Jeff!

Sassy Sauce: This may be the best BBQ I’ve had in the DMV. The Wagyu brisket is ridiculously good. We had both the prime brisket and the Wagyu and there is a distinct difference. They are both great but the tenderness and flavor of the Wagyu will put your mouth into savory bliss. The Mac and cheese is good. It’s VERY cheesy and there are at least 3-4 cheeses that they use to make it. The cornbread is excellent. Very moist and thick. The the baked beans are ok, but not my favorite. We tried the pineapples as well as they were good too. Very light flavor with a faint spicy kick at the end. The plantains were great too. Not too hard but full of flavor and fried perfectly.
Response: Thank you Sassy!

malvina gasco: Had catering by 2fifty BBQ and it was outstanding. Ordered ribs, sausages, brisket with mango salad and potato salad sides. Everything was delicious, my new favorite BBQ spot in DC!
Response: Thank you so much for your business and for having us at your table today Malvina and Co!

Chris Chester: I've always been a little disdainful of barbecue in D.C. It's just not something that's really done well around here. I am by no means an expert, but I do like to run a smoker myself on the weekends. After hearing the hype, I felt I had to check out 2Fifty and... it completely and totally delivered. The wagyu brisket was easily the best brisket I've ever had. Fork tender and a beautiful, flavorful bark. Don't dare put sauce on it! I will be back to try out the rest of the menu for sure.
Response: See you next time Chris! Thank you!

Smokecraft Modern Barbecue: what do users think?

Nancy Jin: Barbecue for brunch is always a good idea! The pork belly on the nachos was incredible, fatty, and unctuous. The berries on the French toast did actually taste of a smoky flavor, which was delightful. Our only disappointment was we couldn’t taste any smokiness in the banana pudding (not pictured), but the pudding was delicious anyway. There’s so much on the menu I’d like to try, so I’ll have to come back!
Response: Thanks for the great 5-star review! We look forward to hosting you again soon!

Jeremy Plunkett: Not really sure how to feel about this place. The other reviews are telling me it's pretty good, but I really wasn't impressed. My wife and I both ordered the Iconic Pulled Pork Sandwich, one with the Mac & Cheese and the other with the Mashed Potatoes. We also ordered the Grilled Caesar Salad. For the good: the bbq had good flavor and the mashed potatoes were probably my favorite thing we ordered. We ordered takeout, and the food was quick to be prepared, about 20 minutes. The Mac & Cheese wasn't amazing but was a pretty standard level with other restaurants. The bad: the pork was dry, which made the bbq sauce pretty much required. I thought the sandwiches were supposed to come with Cole Slaw, but neither included this, even though the image on the website shows a sandwich with cole slaw and a side (baked beans). I didn't find out this wasn't included until I got home. This may be my preference but the Caesar Salad didn't taste right. I'm not exactly sure what it was, but it almost tasted over-smoked, which I'm assuming was from the smoked dressing. The prices were fairly high for what you were getting, but it is in Clarendon and the pork portion was pretty good. Lastly, the staff wasn't nice, they didn't greet me, and no staff I saw were wearing masks. I really would give this 2.5 stars if I could, but I'll give the other reviewers the benefit of the doubt. To be honest, there are other bbq restaurants within 15 minutes drive that are cheaper and better quality. Since there are alternatives, it's not really worth going back.
Response: Hi Jeremy, we're sorry to hear that there was an issue with your takeout order. Our team works hard to put all the pieces in each take out order, but we are human, and it is possible that something can be missed from time to time. As a full-service restaurant, we do hope that you will give us another opportunity by dining in with us in the future so we can ensure your food is great and you have a great overall dining experience!

Corzann Sailor: The perfect setting and ambiance dining alone afterwork for Happy Hour, on a date night or with a group of friends. Friendly and pleasant staff, fun bartenders and CLEAN BATHROOMS!!!! This is huge and most would appreciate this! I mean Everything from the smoky brisket Eggrolls down to the ribs, is packed with robust flavor along with the variety of sauces to choose from. Even the little mini cornbread muffins are delicious! The Mac & Cheese is FIRE!!!!! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥Hands down this is MY FAVE “REAL BBQ” spot in town. It’s so hard to find authentic taste in the area.
Response: Thanks for the great 5-star review! We can’t wait to host you again soon!

Shannon Garay: Food, 5 stars Service, 4 stars The food is exactly what you come for - award winning. We got the ribs and pulled pork platter - absolutely incredible. Make reservations as there’s limited seating. Huge bar with awesome cocktails. Kid friendly- high chairs available. Street parking Pictured: pork belly burnt ends (won the night), pulled pork platter with smoked cauliflower, and half rack of ribs.
Response: Thanks for the 5-star review! We’re continuing to hire great new staff members so we can continue to improve upon our level of service. If you know anyone great who’s interested, please send them our way!

Maria Olsen: Delicious dishes, for barbecue aficionados and those who want healthier fare as well. Award-winning barbecue in Clarendon area of Arlington. Warm, welcoming interior and staff. Across the street from a live music venue. Really enjoyed the deviled eggs made with fire-roasted avocados. Yum!
Response: Thanks for the great review! We look forward to hosting you again soon!

BC C: We went for brunch and got the Brisket Benedict, which was incredible! My friend had just been to a place that specialized in benedicts and he said this one blew it out of the water! It was so good that when we finally got hungry again we decided to go back for dinner. We got the Whole Lotta Que so we could sample everything. It was a ton of food, and we were not disappointed! It was all great, but the brisket, ribs, sausage, mac and cheese, and baked beans were incredible! Really glad we did the sampler because we would not have ordered the sausage and it was the best sausage either of us had ever had! Will definitely be back, really glad to have a place like this local to Arlington!
Response: Thanks for the great 5-star review! We can't wait to host you again soon!

Margie Nguyen: I found my bbq spot in northern Virginia finally! Everything was great, server was friendly, food came out at a timely manner and was hot. Parking is a pain at Clarendon so Uber. A bit pricey but very good food!
Response: Thanks for the review! We can't wait to host you again soon!

D. Boyd: My girlfriend and I frequently go out to restaurants to discover great culinary experiences to share with our many colleagues and friends. We came here with excitement for a new barbecue place...and the first experience was the way the water was just DROPPED OFF at the table no eye contact, no greeting of perhaps "Hello" nothing! Then we ordered drinks one was great and the other was not good at all. We informed the waiter and he made the comment "Oh well you ordered it" he acted as though he brought the drink for us. Then when the food came out...I was shocked to see the ribs soooooo burnt and dry that it seemed to be no meat on the bones, greens no taste, Brussel sprouts dry no taste, so we thought perhaps it was later in the evening and this was all they had. As we informed the waiter he once again said "you ordered it" so we asked for the manager and he said "it's disrespectful for you to say these ribs are burnt! They're smoked and we sell many like this and people love them" he kept on and on! I've been to Texas, Fla, Ga, Memphis and around the world and have NEVER EVER had smoked ribs that were totally black and crispy that when you turn them to the side there was little to NO MEAT!. Price is never a problem for us for great food...yet $46 for a slab of ribs that are burnt with no meat...Nope not for me! I should've taken a picture of them side and bottom view!!! Although the manager offered to pay for the meal we offered to pay for what we ate and drank. We requested the check and waited for the waiter to bring it, the manager again stated he'd pay for the meal, so we let him!
Response: Hi D. We’re sorry that you felt you had a poor experience. You forgot to mention that that you and your girlfriend sent everything on the table back to the bar and kitchen and the owner bought your entire $150 meal for you. There are times the guest is wrong, and when sending multiple dishes back when nothing wrong could be established as you did, is very wrong. The ribs you claimed were burnt were so tender that the bone pulled out of the ribs as you tried to pick them up when trying to show how burnt and dry they were. The cedar plank salmon you sent back for being took smokey hadn’t been touched. Some people can’t be pleased, and you and your guest were that couple.

Michael Watkins: I had the chicken platter. It was very delicious! No fast food chicken sizes here. You get two huge pieces of fully developed real chicken legs. Smoked and sauced to succulent goodness! Broccoli was some of the best I've had ever. I had the meat combo platter on a previous visit, which was also excellent. I would visit again.
Response: Thanks for the 5-star review! We can’t wait to host you again soon!

Paige Johnson: We got takeout tonight after seeing Smokecraft got a lot of votes for Best New Restaurant from Arlington Magazine. We ordered buffalo chicken dip, smoked turkey + Brussels sprouts, and, (because they don't have a kids menu, I made hot dogs for the kids but bought "treat" sides -- there's no way I'm paying these prices to feed three kids) creamy mashed potatoes, and seasoned fries. The dip came with tortilla chips in natural, brilliant red, and bright green. It was delicious, the chips OK. Brussels sprouts were roasted well, nothing special. Smoked turkey was just OK. It was a little mushy, a little dry, and the skin was rubbery. If you're looking for smoked turkey, it's worth the trip into town to go to Hill Country Barbecue. The mashed potatoes were buttery and the kind with some texture and the skins included. The fries were pretty good, though just seasoned with salt as far as we could tell. I parked in the Trader Joe's garage and bought a few things so I could get the free validation. Smokecraft is just across the street. It was super quick even at peak grocery shopping time. I don't think we'll order again, since it's pretty expensive and I wasn't blown away by any of the dishes we had. The other meats we didn't try might be the shining stars of the menu, but there's too many other options for barbecue in the area to come back in a hurry
Response: Hi Paige, thank you for your feedback, and we're sorry to hear that you did not enjoy your takeout from us. We do hope that you will dine in with us in the future so we can ensure you have the freshest food and the great overall dining experience we know we're capable of!

Johnny Boy Carryout: what do users think?

Mr. Robinson: Excellent rib restaurant, they have been a staple within the DMV area for more then sixty years. I'd highly recommend this place it's no frills but the ribs are excellent. It's a carry out no dine in but what you get is far more then what you pay for. Where it's located is a little scary but it's worth you going and trying out the ribs and if by chance you do, you'll definitely come back again and again!!

ladytee101: This is the first time in a long time like more than twenty years since I have been there . The staff was very friendly but I was not satisfied with my food . The fish was hard ,the greens was blain but my potato salad was good.

D.E.M.: Small place with very little parking. Although the service is great and the food even better.5 Star ribs.

Ms Stevens: I tried this whole in the wall last week for the first time and have been back twice since then... get the spicy bbq sauce... I get the slab so there's leftovers.... haven't tried anything else but ribs, what they're FAMOUS for

Tracy McClain (TW Wedding Officiant): Haven't them in a while until today. Lady Cashier looks very busy but she has great customer service. The cooks are personable and you get to watch them grill your ribs and then they let you choose which slab you want. The customers in the store always look out for you if you can not hear your number being called. Parking lot is average size and really really busy. You can no longer place an order by phone. Sorry, some of the food is missing. We, ate first lol Overall, I'll be back.

IamJoedie S: Delicious!! Can I say that one more time...DELICIOUS!!! This was my first but not my last time here. Got a little bit of everything since I didn’t know what to get. The prices are reasonable (affordable). The minced bbq with spicy sauce and coleslaw on the side is the way to go. Get some of those ribs. Mmmmmm. I promise you you won’t be disappointed. Then end it off with some wings. I swear I think they just took them out the grease (in other words they were fresh and hot). This place is a must do. Come. Eat. Enjoy.

Empress Sheba: Delicious as always. We bought a slab of ribs with the hot sauce on the side and one of their boxes meals with 2 ribs, 2 fried fish and 2 chicken wings. The wings didnt have as much seasoning as I thought so I added some old bay when we got home. Would still buy again though!

ML M: I'm still in a food coma. I ordered a slab of ribs and 10 fried wings. All I can say is "I'll make that drive across the bridge for Johnny Boy's!!!" The food and service was great!

J A Baskerville: Ribs were tasty, tender, and the spicy sauce was fantastic. On the other hand, the sides I could have done without.

Rod Marsh: Johnny boy still got it, getting a little pricey but the food is pretty good while hot.
