Shady Grove Fertility Center in Washington, D.C.: what do users think?

Nithya Mani: I highly recommend Dr. Nair and Shady Grove Fertility. Dr. Nair (and all the staff at the practice) were incredibly compassionate and attentive to our needs. I feel so lucky to have found her and had her as my fertility doctor. She always listened to me and made time to answer my questions. I never felt rushed or pushed to make decisions and always felt heard. She personally called me on several occasions to discuss next steps and was cheering me and my husband along every step of the way. I especially appreciated her advice and support as we moved from IVF to donor egg IVF - it was something we had not explored and are so grateful for her sage and kind advice throughout the process. She will always be a key part to our story and I hope to stay in touch for the rest of our pregnancy and journey! We also loved our IVF nurse, Christina - she was always super cheerful, helpful and patient in answering all my detailed questions and made the process feel less daunting. Thank you SGF for all your support!
Response: Nithya, Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience with Dr. Nair, Christina, and or K Street team! Feedback like this really helps motivate us on a daily basis. We appreciate that you chose SGF for this journey.

Aisha Williams: The IVF journey is frustrating, challenging and emotional. I have waited three weeks to allow time to reflect and share my personal experience with SGF (K street) as a patient. Overall the experience was not very positive due to how things were communicated, limited access to my physician and certain standards of communication. The positives first: my sonographer, Latrice was amazing. She took the time to learn my cycle as we went two rounds together. The amazing and musically joyful crew who constantly kept me smiling and jamming as they drew early morning blood. Beyond that, I wish I would have done better research in my choice selection. The website boasts “individualized approach” my engagement with SGF was attuned to a fast-food chain. The interactions rushed, cookie cutter updates, like going to McDonald's but receiving a bill for a five-star wagyu steak dinner. If you are looking for one-on-one attention, look somewhere else. All the doctors are on a rotation, and it is rare you will speak or even see them at appointments. Unless as I was informed, I change what is best for me to what was on the schedule for my doctor (Dr. Nair). On the rare occasions, Dr. Nair had to change her schedule to meet mine. It was often met with disdain and the unnecessary sharing of “how busy she was, or how she’s making so many adjustments just for me”. This was a theme I heard multiple times from her and her nursing staff. My advice to SGF is to hire more people; clearly you aren’t short of income. As a “self-pay” patient who’s insurance didn’t cover IVF to be told constantly how busy everyone is or how I should be grateful for Dr. Nair’s time was very disappointing and counter to the “individualized approach” advertised. In no situation is anyone’s time more important than anyone elses. The unsatisfactory communication happened during both of my processes. I had to constantly ask for updates, challenge why we weren’t taking a more aggressive course and even get my mom involved to combat frustration or repeating myself and still getting the same behavior from staff. If you’re a gluten for punishment and decide to go to SGF don’t get shamed into feeling like you can’t ask questions or question a recommended path. (especially if you’re multiple rounds in). This is a multi-million-dollar industry where the hospital, doctors and pharmaceutical companies always win. Make sure you hold people accountable and are in the right place, with the right team to increase your chances of a winning hand.

Katie Wagner: I had a fantastic egg freezing experience at SGF! Dr. Widra and his team were knowledgeable, communicative, and reliable and through every step of the process. The K Street teams were consistently friendly on each visit and made themselves available for phone calls when I had questions in the beginning and throughout my cycle. Don’t be afraid to ask your questions about the process as a whole, medication options/pricing, what you’re seeing on the ultrasound screen, etc. The team was always happy to help and explain. I highly recommend the injection class as well—it was very helpful to practice and ask questions. SGF is a top-tier fertility center and I’d recommend it to anyone pursuing fertility preservation!
Response: Katie, Thank you so much for sharing your experience with Dr. Widra and our K Street team! We love hearing from our patients, it really helps us to ensure we are providing the best possible care.

Ruthlxss ?: Horrible place to go. they only care about the money. They are very rude from the upstairs management to the bottom floor medical staff, They will definitely talk about the patients who can not pay their co pays at of service when they leave. They will lose paper work and make it a blame game. The MA are horrible and are on there cell phones all day they can can careless. Half of the financial team just pushed paperwork thru for the money and not even try to help patients with a solution.. Lets not get on the team leader of the front desk we don't have all day to spend on how she seems to never know or be confused about everything she is doing then she becomes agitated and pushed you out the door so she wont have to deal with you . when you call to make an appointment that alone is a struggle. I called once and spoke with cecila who was rude and also did not know how to book my appt which resulted in her hanging up on me. I called back someone stated "Oh she must have disconnected by accident" when clearly it wasn't. Over all please spend your money at a more professional place that actually cares about your journey and not your deposit.
Response: Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We use all patient feedback as an opportunity to learn and improve. We would like to hear more about your specific situation, please reach out to our SGF Patient Experience Advocate, Susan Allen, RN, by emailing at SGFPatientAdvocate@sgfertility.com or at 571-350-8493. Thank you.

Luísa Ulhoa: Shady Grove is a zero empathetic and horrible place, which is all you don't need when you are seeking fertility treatment. I came in for a consultation with Kimberly Moon due to recurrent miscarriages and her knowledge on the subject was almost zero. She had no information to give us other than what our OB had already given, being completely outdated with the latest research on the subject. She offered no extra tests for us, although many tests could have been requested that have been already scientifically proven to be the cause of miscarriages. Then she proceeded to push IVF on us, which was completely not the solution in our case. After a frustrating visit, I kept receiving thousands of emails and calls from Shady Grove asking when I was going to start the IVF processs. Clearly, they are only interested in the money, not in finding a solution to our issues. To top the lack of knowledge and completely wrong follow-up, they charge you USD100 to schedule the first appointment, that they claim will be used for future visits/ treatment. On top of that, they charged me for the copay on the appointment (that should have been covered by the USD100), and even after I paid, they charged me AGAIN!!! If you want or really need an IVF, this might be a place to get it, since it's what motivates them and makes their money, but if you need a sympathetic place that really looks into your needs and treats you like a human, not a wallet, run away from this horrible place.
Response: Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We would like to have a better understanding about your experience. Please reach out to our Patient Experience Advocate, Susan Allen, RN at 571-350-8493 (or by emailing SGFPatient Advocate@sgfertility.com) at your earliest convenience and we will do our best to resolve this with you. We use all patient feedback as an opportunity to learn and improve our care.

GraceFaithJourney: Good Morning, I usually do not like writing reviews, but I had a great time this morning here at SGF D.C location. To me, the staff are very friendly and respectful. I wish I had everyone that help me names. The service was very fast and professional. The lady answer all my questions . I know before going I took time and was reading everyone reviews. My husband told me, “ let God go with you and everything will be ok” and that what I did. Thank you
Response: Gracefaithjourney, Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience with SFF K Street team! Feedback like this really helps motivate us on a daily basis. We appreciate that you chose SGF for this journey.

Zygmunt Czykieta: The staff are polite, however, their lack of understanding how their own organization functions caused the situation where—after multiple calls and a previous visit—my sample was throw-out in front of me. Be prepared to waste your time, or at a minimum, spend time learning how their organization operates as their employees do not know themselves.
Response: Zygmunt, Thank you so much for taking the time to leave a review. We have strict regulations about accepting tissue samples, including requiring an order from a SGF if you are a patient or by an outside physician. Unfortunately, we are not able to accept/analyze walk-in samples without a physician order specifying the test required. If you have further questions please call Amy Davis, Regional Executive Director 301-545-1366

Luwecine Stephenson: The team is so warm, nice and welcoming! The only downside is the location. The staff works hard at getting you in and out. The nurses are so nice and patient. I have no complaints! Amazing team!
Response: Luwecine, Thank you for your positive feedback! Providing patients and their families with the highest level of care is our number one goal at Shady Grove Fertility. Your review is sincerely appreciated.

Alex B: The staff at this center had absolutely no compassion or sensitivity. The waiting room was packed, in spite of the pandemic, with no social distancing. I asked the technician to explain what she was going to do before she did it, and she refused! She didn't even introduce herself. Her attitude was "strip and spread your legs, or get out." Absolutely no effort was made to help me feel more comfortable, even after I started crying. I was not treated like a patient and was barely treated like a human. Apparently they think they are selling fast food, and not getting involved in one of the most private and intimate parts of people's lives. On top of that, they "forgot" to give me my test results for weeks. I had to call multiple times to get them to do their job. I am so glad that I am going to a different clinic for the remainder of my treatment. I could not endure this kind of behavior a second time.
Response: Alex B, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. Thank you.

Page Little: We had a very positive experience working with Dr. Devine and her nursing team, KC, Vanessa and Toyin. Everyone was very responsive and always took the time to answer my questions thoroughly. I highly recommend Dr Devine and SGF for your fertility journey!
Response: Page, Thank you so much for sharing your experience with Dr Devine, KC, Vanessa, Toyin and our team! We love hearing from our patients, it really helps us to ensure we are providing the best possible care. Your recommendation means so much to us!

Washington Fertility Center: what do users think?

Eric Boehm: They deserve 100 stars! This office really cares about you. Dr. Asmar takes the time to advise you into a good plan for success. The senior staff (Lan, Carol) and support doctors works hard for everyone. They really care. They communicate and answer all questions along the way. These people work long hours and are by far the best fertility clinic in the region.

Daisha collier: I had my consultation with Dr. Asmar and I feel so excited for my tubal reversal surgery. He made me feel comfortable, answered all my questions and was very personable. Ms. Carol was also great, including the front desk staff as well. Thank you!

tomilola otukoya: I had the best experience at Washington fertility center. The staff and doctors were very nice and polite. I followed all instructions as I was told by the doctors and had a successful IUI on my first try at Washington fertility center. I definitely recommend this clinic.

Shino Y: We can't thank Dr. Asmar and his team enough. While many fertility doctors in general are more transactional and sometimes just money-oriented, Dr. Asmar and his team are totally different. They are extremely caring and warm. During all procedures, each member took eye contact to us, greeting very warmly and treating us warmly. With our first try, now I am 10 weeks pregnant, but even if this first cycle did not work out this time, we would be still very satisfied and grateful for everything they did. Today was our last visit before transferring to OB, and Dr. Asmar, Lan and his team gave us a nice baby gift and a message card. We absolutely recommend Dr. Asmar, Lan, and his team. Thank you so much.

Ed King: My wife and I were recommended to WFC by a friend who had two successful IVF cycles after experiencing multiple unsuccessful ones from Shady Grove and Dominion Fertility. I’m pleased to share we are 6 weeks pregnant on our first cycle after 1 year+ trying naturally. The entire teams from Dr. Asmar, Lan, David, and Carol were incredible throughout the fertility journey. We had only 1 viable embryo after PGT testing and they transferred it successfully! We are forever grateful for the Washington Fertility Center team and would recommend them to anyone who is seeking a hands on experience with folks that truly seek the best possible outcome! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!

Wendell Bryant: My wife came to Dr. Asmar with a PCOS diagnosis. He and his staff were very thorough, highly confident and reassuring that they could help us get pregnant. They went to work right away running lots of tests without any "fluff" appointments. Lan and Carol were always very kind and they seemed generally interested in us, always giving us plenty of pictures and even a gift for our baby. We are now 9 weeks along after a successful first try at the letrozole timed treatment, have finished with their office, and are on to a regular OB.

Mai Lee: Dr. Asmar and the staff were all so great! They were kind and caring, answered all the questions I had. Dr. Asmar is super friendly, and won't give up on you until he finds the root of the issue. He's determined to help his patients get the results they want! All the testings and procedures are done to rule out or find any underlying issues. I went in after stressing out on why I couldn't get pregnant. But he told me that he won't stop helping me until I am 10 weeks pregnant, and he hands me off to my OBGYN. After all the tests and procedures, we sat down to go over a game plan, and if that doesn't work, we'll try again, and if that doesn't work either, we'll go back to the drawing board. Well, guess what? Plan number 1 worked! Now, I am happy to say, I am in my first trimester of pregnancy! My husband and I couldn't be more thankful to Washington Fertility Clinic!! They are a smaller clinic, and are more reasonably priced than the bigger centers (I know, I've checked). But their care and expertise are top notched!

Annie Boehm: Love love Washington Fertility! Dr. Asmar, Lan, Carol and all his staff really care about you and treat you like their family member. I highly recommend this fertility clinic, it is by far the best on the east coast!

shayna fama: I’ve been coming to WFC for quite some while now and let me tell you I always enjoy my visits. Dr. Asmar is one of the nicest and most professional doctors I’ve ever meet and Lan is such a wonderful nurse who really knows how to do her job. Happy to come to this clinic everytime just to see them!

Car'e R: I would strongly encourage you to look elsewhere for care. I visited in August of 2021 as a new patient and during my Hysterosalpingography (HSG) they gave me a pelvic infection upon which they referred me to the ER. I was given 3 different antibiotics from which it took my body months to reset and the infection itself was extremely painful and lasted more than a week - even with the antibiotics. I was uneasy during the test because it seemed like the staff members were all new hires and the doctor had to keep stopping to provide basic instructions to them. They also constantly swapped back and forth between handling medical instruments and their iPad. I was not confident that the procedure was sterile and proceeded against my better judgement. Now, I've found a new clinic and have requested records and have been told it will take two weeks to get them even though I've been told that they should already have been loaded in my patient portal but they're not. I have very low confidence I will receive them in time for my next appointment at the other clinic.
Response: Hi Car'e R., Our staff has already attempted direct contact in order to discuss the points noted in your review. We take patient care very seriously, and this includes any potential complications that can arise from procedures we provide. Such complications are always noted clearly in patient consent forms, which are provided prior to any procedure. As we follow HIPAA policies, we will not comment per the specifics of your care within this response.

Columbia Fertility Associates: what do users think?

L H: It was my husband and I first visit with Dr. Sacks and we felt so comfortable. He was very knowledgeable, patient and thorough. He provided us with very detailed options to help us make decisions on best next steps. We appreciated him very much.

Drashawn Gassaway: It was the best experience during this pandemic that I've had experience in a long time. I thank the entire staff that I encountered today they all are helpful, kind and I appreciate them and how they handle us today. Dr. Sack was just awesome, also LaShawn for providing us with needed information and for both her and Dr. Sacks making a exception for us today, we truly appreciate this experience, also thanks to the young lady that had done my blood work her energy was great

Maudess Fulton: Dr. Sacks is fantastic! He is knowledgeable and and has the best bedside manner in the business. He has a way of making you feel like everything will be okay and that is so necessary in area of fertility treatment.

Sherry Samuels: Dr. Sacks' energy was amazing from the start of our consult. He had a lot of information and we walked away from a conversation that we were a bit apprehensive about, feeling excited and encouraged. And even before the appointment, his office team made getting everything set up a breeze.

Christine AF: I've had one visit with Dr. Sacks and my husband and I felt respected, and acknowledged. He took the time to explain everything and wanted to be proactive about getting us started in growing our family. I'm looking forward to working with Dr. Sacks along this journey.

Laura B: I would really caution against this practice and recommend those considering making an appointment look at Yelp rather than Google reviews (maybe this says something about Google reviews being biased? The practice sends you a form asking for public feedback after your visit. They ask if it is positive or negative: if negative, you are rerouted to a private feedback form. If positive, you post publicly!). Yelp reviews are much more in line with my experience there, particularly with admin staff. In short, they are rude and disorganized. It's been hell on earth receiving my test results: no one would call me with them and when I would call to receive them/a copy they would angrily tell me there is nothing in the system and they have no way of even checking what was sent out to the lab. When I realized some of them were missing they told me I was supposed to come back on another day for that particular test (how could I know? no one had told me to when I was in the practice and I wouldn't have known had I not insisted upon it...). They can't even tell you how to check results. One nurse said she did not know. Another eventually said I should create an account with a particular lab. Really? How is this not more streamlined...? I did create said account, and never received results on there either. Never had a pleasant call: I always am made to feel like I am disturbing them and/or am being unreasonable for wanting a copy of results. Still only have about 30% of my labs. I hope they don't mess up my billing. The two stars are for Dr. Sacks, who seemed like a decent doctor. But I'm not sure this is worth the trouble: I can't imagine what this must be like if you're in it for some serious and complicated procedures (which some of the Yelp reviews describe) that require timely information.

Mommy Johnson: Just so no one has my experience take note ONLY THE DC OFFICE IS OPEN. THE N. VA AND BETHESDA OFFICES ARE CLOSED AND THERE IS NO INFORMATION ONLINE ABOUT IT. DO NOT BOOK IF DC IS NOT A REALISTIC OFFICE FOR YOU. Dr. Sacks is a 5 star doctor, but the office staff is less than. Rude, and after setting a follow up appointment then needing to cancel I was told my second appointment was never put on the books. I had to cancel because of the closed offices. Very frustrating.

Michele Dobiecki: Dr. Sacks is an angel! Incredible doctor with incredible bed side manner. He’s been a shining light throughout my journey!

Djeneba Kone: Great experience as a first timer. The staff was very friendly and helpful.Dr. Abbass' demeanor has really put me at eas e so i really recommend this clinic.

Shino Y: Dr. Butler is very nice. But I have had some communication issues with staff working there throughout. You can barely reach out to them by phone and email even if we are dealing with very time sensitive matter. I several times left messages to call me back, but I have never received any call back. It happened to me continuously. I saw other patients had the exact same complain as mine while I was visiting their office. They have some internal organizational and structural issues.

Shady Grove Fertility at Sibley Hospital Campus: "The best part of my experience was the clear and objective discussion with Dr. Widra and the explanation behind the options laid out. There is more holistic patient management compared to my experience in other clinics."

Dominion Fertility DC: what do users think?

Rina: I have literally, literallyyyyy been trying to get in contact with someone over the course of two weeks. I received an email saying I needed to call to schedule an appointment with Ms Webb the receptionist always answers and I'm forwarded to someone that won't bother to answer the phone or call back. I should have given up after the second try of not being able to speak with someone but nooooooo. It shows me that this place would have been a waste of my money, time and hopes, very unprofessional and I will rather pass .....to all that are trying to conceive just wanna say good luck and hope you have a better experience than I did.

Ardy Mosi: We had an awful experience at this fertility center. Dr Dimattina doesn't explain the process, he misses important steps, the oncall nurses don't rerurn the call, the IVF coordinator comes to get your blood, they ask you to do your own home injection without providing proper instructions.... on top of all, Dimattina treats you without care.

A M: Dr. Dimattina who is the founder does the main procedures. He is a great businessman. He knows how to sell his ideas to you. He is all about natural cycle IVF which is sucking up your money, hope, and energy with very low chance of success. He doesn't discuss the procedure with you and you are blind folded all along. In my short experience at his center, I believe he doesn't care about the patient, he only cares about his business. He doesn't understand it's a very emotional process for the patients. In my experience, he missed an important blood test which resulted in losing my chance. All he said at the end: sorry, we will try again next cycle..... stay away from this center, you have to deal with a pregnancy factory and not a medical care and center; and in this factory, you are the last items in their list of cares.

DN DN: Dr. Sarajari was amazing and helped us have our beautiful baby boy. I highly recommend Dominion Fertility for anyone suffering with infertility.

CCRM Fertility of Vienna DC: what do users think?

Anansa Archer: After changes in our insurance, we switched from Dominion Fertility to CCRM, and the experience was honestly like night and day! Our primary doctor was Dr. Owen, and she was absolutely fantastic! She was extremely thorough with researching any and all health factors that might have impacted our chances of success and quickly put appropriate plans in place to ensure we had a smooth and successful IVF cycle. Everyone at the clinic, from the other doctors we saw on occasion, to the technicians, nurses, etc. were all extremely friendly, patient and professional. We were extremely satisfied with our experience at CCRM and are now awaiting our baby’s arrival later this year! We couldn’t be more grateful!
Response: Hi Anansa - We are thrilled to hear you had such a great experience and we are thankful that you chose CCRM after your experience at another clinic. Thank you so much for sharing your kind words with us.

Jeff Ferraro: Dr. Owen was the best part about this location. Very helpful, great personality and overall a good experience. Now it's been 6 months since we've had the procedure (and got pregnant) and we still have a HUGE bill that our insurance didn't cover. We called our insurance company and they said it wasn't billed properly and that they would be willing to walk the CCRM staff through the proper way to do it. That was in September, 2021. It's the end of March, 2022 and even though I call at least 2 times a week and leave a message, I cannot get a call back or an update on the billing issue. I've even showed up in the office and was told "Ok, I've sent this to corporate." Then radio silence. We just cannot get this worked out and I have a bad feeling that this is somehow going to get sent to collections and then it's going to kill our credit. That being said, the staff is professional, the procedure works and we're happy from that aspect. But the billing staff, please get your act together. We want to pay our bill but we don't want to pay for procedures our insurance is supposed to cover. It's like we have to beg and plead to give them our money.
Response: Hi Jeff - We are happy to hear you had such a great experience with Dr. Owen and we are thankful that you chose CCRM! Thank you so much for sharing your feedback with us, as this is important to us ensuring the best care for our patients. If you have a moment, we encourage you to reach out to your Practice Manager at 571-789-2100 to further discuss the billing issues you have mentioned so we can resolve this as soon as possible.

Rachael Bade: I had been trying to get pregnant for about three years when I found Dr. Payson at CCRM in early 2021. At the time, I'd been receiving treatment through Shady Grove Fertility for two years and had cried through four failed transfers with five embryos. It was awful. I felt like I was just a number there. I switched to CCRM and saw a difference in care right away -- and they got me pregnant on the FIRST transfer. We are now expecting a baby girl in 21 days! Highly recommend this clinic.
Response: Hi Rachael - We are thrilled to hear you had such a great experience and we are thankful that you chose CCRM after your experience at another clinic. Thank you so much for sharing your kind words with us.

Tra Family: Like most have mentioned, the IVF doctors are good to work with. The staff, including nurses you'll have to chase down for any questions. Some say they will get back to you within 24-48 hours but you don't hear back from them. You'll keep calling, go through their automated system, leave voicemail, send portal messages and repeat. I know everyone is aware how stressful infertility is but the added on stress with trying to get answers or even pay for your services is so disappointing and stressful. All of our consultations have ended with "don't hesitate to reach out if you have ANY questions, we are here to help" is a good marketing phrase. There has got to be a way to acknowledge these patients questions instead of being left unanswered for days, weeks and even months.
Response: First, we thank you for your feedback. It is incredibly valuable to us as we strive to improve the experience of our patients. Being accessible to our patients and communicating in a timely manner is of utmost importance to us, so we would like to sincerely apologize for your experience. We welcome you at your convenience to please reach out to our Practice Manager at 571-789-2100 to ensure your issues are addressed.

Y Lan: Everyone was so professional and genuinely kind. I appreciate all their help with every step. They also have a surgical unit there so it was convenient, too. More than anything, Dr. Owen was amazing from the beginning to the end. She’s very straightforward and honest, which helped us make right decisions.
Response: Hi Y - We are so happy you had such a wonderful experience with Dr. Owe and the entire team! Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with others.

Nikita Patel: Dr. Martini and all of the staff at CCRM are amazing! We have tried other clinics prior to CCRM and there is a big difference in the service, care, and attention you get here. The phlebotomist Mark is truly the best. The support team, nursing team (Claire is the sweetest), surgery team, embryology/andrology team, and anesthesia team made every part of this tough process of IVF easier. We have a long journey ahead, but we are so grateful we have Dr. Martini and the CCRM team.
Response: Hi Nikita - We are so happy you had such a wonderful experience with CCRM! Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with others. Your feedback is valued highly so we can continue to provide the best care to our patients.

Meagan Saxon: Horrible. Don't waste your time. I had a great appointment with Dr. Payson, but the front line staff here is no good. I've called about 6 times in the past three days trying to schedule a fertility test. I've left 4 messages. Nobody has returned my call. How is anyone supposed to rely on this place for fertility when everything has to be planned so specifically. Not to mention the stress of it all. PASS.
Response: First, thank you for your feedback, Meagan. It is incredibly valuable to us as we strive to improve the experience of our patients. Being accessible to our patients and communicating in a timely manner is of utmost importance to us, so we would like to sincerely apologize that you were unable to reach us. We do welcome you at your convenience to please reach out to our Practice Manager at 571-789-2100 if you would like to discuss the situation further.

Ann Chang: CCRM NoVa was a breath of fresh air after a year of working with Shady Grove. We switched after getting frustrated with Shady Grove's pushy REs and poor communication from nurses. We worked primarily with Dr. Owen, who we genuinely felt was invested in our success and future. Dr. Payson was also phenomenal. We successfully conceived our precious first child during our first IVF cycle and would highly recommend CCRM to any other folks in the DMV area seeking infertility treatment.
Response: Hi Ann - Thank you so much for sharing your kind words with us! We are so happy that you had such a wonderful experience with Dr. Owen, Dr. Payson, and the entire CCRM team. We are glad that you were able to give us a chance after your experience at another clinic. We are honored to have been a part of your journey to build your family!

Bernie Nolan: Dr. Payson and his team at CCRM NoVA are truly exceptional! After having a deeply disturbing experience with another clinic in the area, we decided that we were not ready to give up and found CCRM. We were filled with doubt when we met Dr. Payson for the first time, but he immediately filled us with the hope that had eluded us for so long. It is that hope that ultimately got us through a long, trying battle with infertility. While not every treatment was successful, Dr. Payson always maintained a positive mindset and sought to reassure us without coming across as being unrealistic. He was calm and compassionate every step of the way, and we never felt uncomfortable asking questions. And every other person, from the person working the front desk to the person drawing your blood, treated us the same way. Our beautiful baby girl, Isla, was born last week, and we could not be more in love. We know none of this would have been possible without CCRM NoVA, and we will forever be grateful. Sincerely, Katrina and Bernie
Response: Hi Katrina and Bernie - We are so happy you had such a wonderful experience with CCRM and Dr. Payson! Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with others. Your kind words are truly appreciated.

SAUDI BAMBI: The only reason I’m posting a 2 star instead of a 1 is because of how nice the phlebotomist is. I’ve had many issues with Ccrm. First I get a 300 dollar bill for a phone consult only to reach out to my insurance saying Ccrm had billed it incorrectly. Then I get a random bill for a service I never received nor a date I was even in the clinic or in contact with a nurse or a doctor. I was only able to catch that because I constantly recheck their own work. Once I kindly raised a concern with the billing department they said they’ll take care of it. A day later and they are sending me the same bill… for the appointment I never had… for the bill they said they’d retract. Once I call to address the issue once again the person on the phone “ebony” had an attitude about it? Like she’s doing me a favor? I was voicing my concern about the constant misbilling issues and her respond was “do you actually have a question for me?” Very unprofessional. The last appointment I had scheduled I was told “it’s only a 25 co-pay” then turns out to be 50. constant misbilling and lack of transparency. Lastly, when I first went in for blood work that was supposed to include hormones, they later tell me that was actually not done and they needed to redraw blood. Causing me to have to reschedule yet another appointment to go over the results they should have already had. This is not to mention the constant phone tag and sometimes hanging up on me. Mind you I’m a new patient and this all happened in a span of one month. And I still have yet to meet my doctor
Response: Thank you for bringing this situation to our attention. First and foremost, we would like to apologize for any inconvenience we may have caused you, as well as any miscommunication or misconception from our billing department or the insurance company. We welcome you at your convenience to please reach out to our Practice Manager at 571-789-2100 to discuss the situation further. I ensure you we will do everything we can to address your concerns.

Kindbody - Washington, D.C.: what do users think?

Christina Jones: Doesn't accept insurance at all (according to desk receptionist) in the D.C. location and failed to mention this until an hour before my appointment, so I had to cancel once I arrived to my appointment. The front desk receptionist was very cold and unapologetic about not mentioning this upfront or sooner. I received a message after booking that insurance was accepted. They should not insinuate that insurance is accepted on their website. ****Update**** I received a call from their Director out of NY apologizing for my experience. She provided me with more clarity about their new DC locations and mentioned that they would be accepting insurance soon. She was very kind and told me that she would follow up with me once insurance coverage is in fact accepted in their DC location. They seem to have a wonderful Director, who is truly genuine. I am updating my review from one star to three based on the Directors call. Hopefully, I will have a better experience in the future.
Response: Thank you again for taking the time to let us know how we did. We hope you have a great day!

Dominion Fertility Arlington: what do users think?

Diana Mason: My husband I went to Dominion after struggling with some fertility issues and multiple miscarriages. We couldn't have made a better choice! You can tell that the staff really care about their patients and make you feel at ease. At the beginning of the process, we were feeling a bit overwhelmed, but the doctors were understanding and great at explaining each step to us along the way. We now have a healthy baby boy and we could not be more happy and grateful to Dominion Fertility!!
Response: Dear Diana, Thank you for your kind words.

Donald Davis: We decided to try Dominion after trying Shady Grove. Dominion has less facilities for monitoring but have a great office staff. Cost is about the same and doctors had great bed side manner. In my opinion I would rate a two due to not having the desired outcome of a IVF pregnancy's. Also, at this location there is only street parking.
Response: Thank you for your kind words and we would be happy to answer any further treatment questions that you may have. We have covered parking for our patients in the garage under our building.

Ar M: Awful experience. Communication is terrible! We couldn’t get clear pricing and when we would try to call or email the financial staff we wouldn’t get a response for weeks. The nursing staff doesn’t respond in a timely manner and we’re not able to provide the answers we needed. Received an incorrect diagnosis based on the Dr. Kay’s hunch without an actual review of the lab work. Dr. Kay also belittles patients when asking questions. Nurses were extremely rude and pulled incorrect lab work results then accused me of getting the wrong labs done (which is impossible since they wrote the orders) before realizing the lab work they pulled was from 3 years prior. Overall worst experience at a medical facility let alone a practice that is supposed to help through an already difficult situation. Would never recommend Dominion. It’s clear they don’t care about their patients, just their bottom line. Reached out multiple times to discuss my issues and I just got a canned response. No additional effort made to right any of it.
Response: Dear AR, We would like the opportunity to discuss your experience, please reach out to our practice via info@dominionfertility.com

Olivia Nguyen: Most wonderful experience working with Dominion Fertility. The most caring doctors and nurses that are with you every step of the way. Can’t recommend them enough!!
Response: Thank you for submitting a review, we strive to provide the best care possible and we are happy we met your expectations.

Hannah Roberson: My husband and I were thrilled with Dr. DiMattina and the team at Dominion. We had previously been at another clinic where we felt like a number and we immediately knew Dominion was different. From our first appointment, Dr. D listened to our concerns, desires and worked with us to create a plan that was suited for our family. When we weren’t immediately successful, Dr. D did extensive testing and made sure we tailored our protocol to get the best results (which ended in a pregnancy!). The team of nurses was always so kind and compassionate. Even though I’m glad to not be going to the office all the time, I’ll miss everyone there and can’t wait to take our baby to meet them all!
Response: Thank you for your kind review and we are so happy for you!

Kiyana Parker: We absolutely love the staff at Dominion Fertility Arlington, especially my IVF Nurse Holli Simon and Dr. Kay! My husband and I started going to Dominion Fertility in 2020, right in the middle of the pandemic. Holli and Dr. Kay both were a huge support and they made feel comfortable throughout the whole process. Also, they both were very responsive. If Holli wasn't available, she made sure that I knew who her back-up was. When the IVF treatment did not work for my husband and I, they encouraged us. God granted us a miracle and we were able to get pregnant on our own and we just had our baby in June. We kept Holli updated with our pregnancy journey. You want to be able to meet someone like her who is a source of encouragement inside and outside of the office. We had previously went to Shady Grove Fertility, and did not have have good experience. We are so glad that we found Dominion Fertility Arlington. My husband and I would definitely recommend Dominion Fertility Arlington for anyone who is seeking fertility treatment.
Response: Thank you so much for your kind words.

Bethany O'Connell: This review compares my experience at Dominion Fertility in Arlington/Bethesda to my experience at Spring Fertility in San Francisco, CA. I froze my eggs for the first time with Dominion, and then a few months later when I moved to CA, I did another cycle with Spring Fertility. Everyone at dominion fertility is *nice*, but I felt anxious and scattered throughout my entire cycle. Dealing with Dominion felt like a full-time job on top of my full-time job. My experience at Spring was 100000x better, and I will never go back to Dominion. In terms of informing me about my shots and the complex schedule pre-extraction; it was almost like they expected me to know exactly what was happening and exactly what to do (when this process is VERY foreign to anyone who has never experienced it before). They showed me how to do the shots, but resources after-the-fact felt scattered and made everything more stressful. It felt like pulling teeth to actually understand what was going on and understand what my next steps were in the fertility journey. They definitely tried with all the hand outs and the in person demo, but it was overall just very disorganized. On the other hand, when I worked with Spring Fertility, they had meetings and webinars and videos, all accessed in the same place–had a phone number I could constantly call and ask questions to the doctors team. It just felt very together, and I learned scientific aspects of the egg freezing process that were so helpful to know–aspects of the process that Dominion was not transparent about. At one point I left in the middle of an appointment after giving blood, because the nurse told me I was done. And right as I got home after the appointment, the doctor called and said that they were waiting for me to come in for the next part of my appointment. This was extremely frustrating, and I had to drive all the way back. At Spring, all appointments were extremely streamlined and I felt like they guided me / held my hand through everything. Dominion was extremely disorganized throughout the entire process in terms of billing. I had to constantly connect Dominion fertility and my insurance provider (Progyny) to correct billing mishaps and errors on Dominion's side. 6 months later I'm still receiving bills from the anesthesiology company, when my insurance provider already paid Dominion. When I worked with Spring, I had no contact with my insurance provider the whole time and everything was completely seamless. I also felt EXTREMELY drugged out after my procedure. My body was was very sore, and I had a brain hang over from all the drugs they gave me for days. I also had to call and ask questions about various symptoms that they never informed me would happen. With Spring, I had my surgery in the morning and I was working that same afternoon. They called me every day for the next couple days to make sure everything was okay. Physical and mental symptoms were considerably less acute at Spring, and I didn't feel nearly as drugged out. I also feel like Dominion didn't make an effort to really educate me on what was happening to my body at each step of the process, which was very disconcerting. I felt like I kept getting passed to different people for different things–and the calendar / schedule was all felt very confusing. At Spring Fertility, they were wonderfully transparent and everything was streamlined and very informative. Overall, my experience between the two fertility clinics was NIGHT AND DAY. I would not go back to Dominion Fertility.
Response: Dear Bethany, We're sorry to hear you weren't happy with our care, we strive to answer all questions in a timely manner. We welcome the opportunity to speak with you about our service.

Stephanie Silva: I'm so thankful for the caring staff at Dominion Fertility the nurses are angels. Just completed my procedure to freeze my eggs and had great results. I felt very comfortable with the entire process. I originally went to another practice, then decided to get a second option at Dominion Fertility - I'm glad I did! Dr. Sarajari was my main doctor but I saw the other two physicians and they had great bedside manners. You never think you would have to seek this type of service but when you do having people that support you makes the difference!!!
Response: Thank you for your kind words, they make us work harder for our patients.

Andrew Caperton: This review is to warn those considering Dominon Fertility of the kind of questions they may have, while receiving treatment from one of their many doctors. To that note, some of their doctors are not listed, as they are not partners of the clinic and are only temporary doctors in residency there. In particular, my wife had a significantly horrible experience at the hands of one of these non-partner doctors (Dr. Roura). If possible --- avoid Dr. Roura AT ALL COSTS. From our experience, he was inexperienced and the partner doctors on call during his treatment do not fully oversee his medical care. For those whom are considering treatment with Dominion, there are some questions you should consider... Ask my wife how DOCTOR MAJOR Kay Waud oversaw the termination of her eggs in her latest stimulated IVF cycle. Ask my wife who was then later belittled by Dr MAJ KAY WAUD in her Fairfax office as not understanding why Dominion Fertility decided to TRUNCATE her scheduled egg-growth cycle below the standard timeline that resulted in undeveloped eggs that were immediately destroyed. Dominion Fertility's reasoning for aborting the growth cycle was that they wanted to try to extract an egg from an Adnexal Mass and a DEAD (has not produced an egg in 3 cycles) Follicle. They did this to allow potentially SIX (6) eggs to be terminated via the trigger shot, arresting their development in an unviable state. Ask Dr MAJ KAY WAUD why my wife still hasn't been told how long she was under anesthesia (MISSING FROM MEDICAL RECORDS) -- where she was in the egg retrieval room for THREE (3) HOURS and is CONTINUING TO BE IN PAIN. Ask Dr MAJ KAY WAUD why she IGNORED my wife's begging and pleading to re-consider the shortening of the egg growth cycle - she begged that this is not enough time. Ask Dr MAJ KAY WAUD if she has any respect for women that come from developing countries (VIETNAM). My wife consistently felt ignored and treated as if she did not understand anything going on. 3 Cycles -- 2 Doctors -- Dr MAJ KAY WAUD was the ABSOLUTE WORST. MY WIFE IS STILL IN PAIN More details to come.... we are still receiving medical care and advice from another practice -- we are still reviewing medical records. More details to follow... We are still stunned and shocked by our latest experience at Dominion Fertility. I pray my wife will make a full recovery.

Chris Cunningham: Dr. D and his staff are truly doing God’s work. We started at Shady Grove and just didn’t feel comfortable there, kinda felt like we were buying a car, and they wanted to see what we could afford. I found Dominion online and immediately Knew this was a different kind of place. We met Dr. D at the Bethesda office, and what a difference from the SGF Doctor. He was kind, understanding, and extremely patient, as my wife is a serious question asker. Dr. D was awesome. He didn’t sugarcoat the challenges we faced, but gave us the best options for the ultimate goal. The staff was awesome at both Bethesda and Arlington. These are all people that are happy to be at work. I actually asked a staff member I became friendly about her job, and she told me that Dr. D took really good care of them, and it was like a family. It definitely showed. We were blessed with a healthy baby boy, and will be eternally grateful to Dr. D and all the staff at Dominion Fertility. In our first appointment my wife kept pressing Dr. D on his ability to select the gender, in a humorous, exasperated moment he said, “ Wanda, I am not God”. No, Dr. D you are not God, but you are doing God’s work! This is an awesome place, filled with amazing, caring people. Chris C

Shady Grove Fertility Fairfax: what do users think?

Kaitlyn Rogers: Wonderful experience, everyone from the nurses, doctors to the front desk staff- overall a great atmosphere! Everyone was super welcoming and made me feel important, I can't say enough great things about the Fairfax office. Additionally, the office manager Courtney Schmidt is amazing! She took time out of her day to see my husband and I to explain the IVF injection process thoroughly to us. 10/10 recommend this office to anyone looking to undergo fertility treatments!!
Response: Kaitlyn, Thank you so much for sharing your experience with Courtney and our Fairfax team! We love hearing from our patients, it really helps us to ensure we are providing the best possible care. Your recommendation means so much to us!

Simone K: I had great first experience with Shady Grove that led to my beautiful daughter. However, my second experience has been awful. After consulting with another practice, I was explained lab results to me that SGF never shared & would have been beneficial in deciding how to move forward with treatment. Additionally, I paid upfront a large amount of money for a procedure that was never carried out. I have now been fighting to get a refund for almost 6 weeks. So disappointed and upset and I would NEVER recommend SGF to anyone.
Response: Simone, Thank you for taking the time to let us know about your recent experience. We use all patient feedback as an opportunity to learn and improve. I would like to hear more about your specific situation and assist you with your current issues. If you are willing, I'd appreciate the opportunity to discuss your experiences. Please reach out to me, the SGF Patient Experience Advocate, by emailing SGFPatientAdvocate@sgfertility.com or by calling 571-350-8493. Thank you. ~Susan Allen, RN.

krista Lukos: Shady Grove Fertility is simply exceptional. While IVF is time-consuming, costly and complex, the staff at Shady Grove make it their mission to deliver outstanding healthcare, a true rarity. Besides the physicians, the place is entirely staffed by bright young women, which makes for a surprisingly pleasant and comfortable experience. Dr. Levens was my doctor and he was kind, understanding, and I always felt safe in his care. Communication is at the core of what makes this place so great. It consistently exceeded my expectations and quickly became my favorite thing about Shady Grove – a nurse from your team will call to relay results and next steps, while the patient portal messaging system is used to re-relay information and easily communicate with your team on a regular basis. Your doctor will likely communicate big news, but it is the nurses that really shine. I was truly impressed by their medical knowledge and ability to solidly answer pretty much any and all questions; thank you ladies. The patient portal and website houses many nicely crafted educational video modules that clearly explain the process, the science, and the probabilities, which all aid in providing the language you need to communicate, strengthen understanding, and set realistic expectations. Your team includes a financial coordinator who handles the hassle of insurance and financial planning. I worked with Grace who was lovely, smart, and always went out of her way to clearly communicate expected insurance coverage, anticipated challenges, and spent hours on the phone with my insurance company - something I was grateful I did not have to add to my plate. The facility itself is clean and polished; a haven compared to your typical doctor's office. There are many appointments (~10 in a 3 week cycle) and they are always on time (>90% of wait times between 30 seconds and 5 minutes). I live over an hour away and was very appreciative of their punctuality. The IVF medications can seem daunting but they use a pharmacy home delivery system that simplifies the process, there’s a great back-up pharmacy in the building, and every medication has a video module to demonstrate administration. Other than finding the right fertility facility, the best thing you can do for yourself is ensure that you have good (perhaps great) insurance to ease the process. I intended to write this review the day of my first egg retrieval, prior to any potential embryos and free from the biases that come with a success story, but alas, life was a little busy. I write now, in great anticipation for my first frozen embryo transfer next week. It is a challenging journey, and if you are searching for the best place, this is it.
Response: Krista, Thank you so much for sharing your experience with Dr. Levens and our Fairfax team! We love hearing from our patients, it really helps us to ensure we are providing the best possible care. We really appreciate your wonderful recommendation, it means so much to us.

Kimberly Prosser: Beautiful facility and I really liked Dr. Garde and the NP, Tutu was amazing and so comforting. The providers here really care. They are what prevent me from leaving one star. The rest of navigating this process is a nightmare. From the front desk who are not responsive and at time rude or dismissive to your questions, to financial authorization who is never clear about what your cost will be, to the nurses and case managers who provide confusing instructions, this has been a disappointing experience to what is already an overwhelming time. The follow up is confusing-- you have an inbox which is sent several messages from different nursing staff who never quite seem to be on the same page (for example, I get a phone call asking if I'm going to start IUI even though a few weeks ago I messaged via the portal that I would like to start IUI). Lots of things have also been dropped to the point I'm threatened to have my cycle canceled because THEY overlooked that I needed to get bloodwork done, and this was after they collected my deposit for a cycle. You're left scrambling trying to find a place to draw your blood and when you work 12 hour shifts, it's hard to find the time. The portal is worthless, there's labwork section but no labwork is ever uploaded nor are the treatment estimates. I've had to follow up on insurance authorization on my own. They forget to send meds to the speciality pharmacy which again I have had to follow up with on my own. I've had to ask financial authorization several times about whether they've initiated the prior authorization only to get a reply days later. I've had a nurse give me wrong interpretation of my husband's semen analysis. The list goes on and on. My GYN says he can never get them to fax records over, despite his staff calling. I'm in healthcare and so am more forgiving than most because I understand the stress the staff can go through and how tiny things can slip through the cracks. This is why I've let so many things go but when I find myself crying in a Walgreens because of the possibility of them cancelling a cycle due to their own oversight after I've already paid a deposit, well, it's time to move on. This is not good care and for the price and stress of going through infertility, not the place to be.

Noureddine CHAIB: I wish there were more companies on the field, so these guys will have to close their business. It’s insane how they don’t want to answer calls and treat people with disrespect because they are new patients.
Response: Noureddine, we regret to hear that you had a negative experience with us, but would appreciate the chance to turn your experience around. We would like to know more about your issues. If you are willing to discuss your experience, please reach out to our Patient Experience Advocate, Susan Allen, RN, at 571-350-8493 (or by emailing sgfpatientadvocate@sgfertility.com) so that we may resolve your concerns. Thank you, and we look forward to hearing from you.

M Reen: Beware---If I could give this place 0 stars, I would. This place is just a money maker. They will continue to tell you to keep on trying...this is just bad luck when you miscarry several times--keep trying they say. Yeah, keep trying puts more money in their bank. Dr. Browne and her staff have no compassion and are awful at communication. What a complete disappointment. I would never recommend this place to anyone going through IVF. Continue your search for reputable clinics.

M Lukacs: Shady Grove is very definitely shady. I called them for my out of state doc who wanted two ultra sounds done for Day 3-5 of my cycle. The staff took my info and told me it should be no problem. I drove 35 mins and made my appt but was treated unprofessionally. I gave both orders to the front office staff. Later the nurse came and told me they couldn't perform them because the order wasn't signed. I tried to show her emails from the nurse to me but I understood it needed to be signed, and I even mentioned "thanks for trying." She gave me back 1 order - I asked where is the other order, the nurse insisted there was only one. I specifically told here there are two orders and they are very similar ultrasounds, but different. Upon leaving the nurse and front office staff members told me no there is no other order. I needed the other order to get the ultrasounds done else where. I asked where the 2nd one was, the nurse said they were the same (they weren't, they were two different types of ultrasounds). I talked to staff and wanted the 2nd one back and they said I only gave them 1 order. I know I gave them 2 orders! I was already upset I couldn't get the order done on the specific day I needed it, and now I'm being lied to that I only gave them 1 order. When I left, I felt like they were staring at me and I heard at least one of the staff laughing as I left. I talked to my hubby in the car and he was mad since he knew I had 2 orders when I went in. He called them to ask again and they said they shredded it! He asked why would they do that when they knew I was searching for it, she had the nerve to say I did not ask for it! He asked to please go retrieve the order from the shredding room and she told him she can't because it would be privacy violation! He went up there and had the nurse get access to the room and the 2nd order was found in the bin. I can't believe they would lie about this situation.

Jennifer Schrader: The nursing and mdeical staff were wonderful but I think I was completely blindsided and communication was not clear on the cost of the service provided. I was told to pay up front since it was not covered under my insurance so I paid in full the amount they provided me. I was soon to find out that a bill for the remaining portion (which I was not informed about) was mailed to my home. I called but the billing staff didn't seem to care much about my concerns. Very disappointing in an already scary and vulnerable position.

Kesha A: The care I received during my IVF cycle was great. All of my clinical team including Dr.Garde was professional and attentive. After my failed IVF cycle in April I received a voicemail from the weekend nursing team telling me the pregnancy test was negative. I accepted that because there’s no guarantee. What really bothers me is I NEVER received one phone call from my Doctor or anyone from my clinical team to follow up on me-no “How are you?” Or anything. It would’ve been nice...
Response: Kesha, thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We use all patient feedback as an opportunity to learn and improve. If you would like to speak with our team more specifically about your situation, please reach out to Amy Davis, Regional Executive Director at amy.davis@sgfertility.com or 301-545-1366. Thank you.

M: I would give 0 star if I can. This Clinic is the worst of all DC area's fertility clinics (yes, I have visited them all). SGF is interested purely in money. They push you to do rounds and rounds of IVF if they can, don't even try to make the best of earlier rounds or IUIs. They may have nice offices, or well-spoken staffs, but they have no interest in giving you a quick result or keeping your health in mind. During my first round of IVF, even I noticed that the follicles were getting too large, yet they increased the dosage for stimulation for another 3-4 days. In addition, when one ultrasound technician measured the follicle sizes to be smaller than the sizes from two days ago (follicles grow at 1.4mm per day, and it was already on the 12th-ish day of the stimulation), neither the doctor nor the technician found it strange, doubted the measurement and bothered to re-measure. Instead the doctor simply decided to increase the dosage again for another 3 days when at that point the largest was already at 20mm. In the end, of course, the follicles were beyond mature and there was nearly no egg retrieved out of more than 12 follicles. What's more, due to the abnormally long stimulation, fresh transfer was impossible to be done, and the egg quality was too low to survive in the lab for a frozen embryo transfer. After this complete failure of the IVF, instead of reflecting on the mistake, or advising the patient to take a break, the doctor and the clinical team immediately pushed to start another round, and suggested that the failure last time was due to "empty egg syndrome", so they would need to use even more aggressive stimulation drugs and procedures in the next round. For a female under 35 with no obvious reason for infertility, this is purely greed for money. I switched to GWU fertility after this round. The doctor at GWU advised me to take a break for about 3 months before another round, and we were successful immediately with very standard dosages and a normal stimulation procedure. In addition, I was lucky that my insurance covered almost 100% of my IVF costs -- even so, SGF managed to come up with a policy to charge me more for co-pays. They claim that for the same monitoring (blood work and ultrasound) visit, if on one visit, the doctor is free and manages to review (without you knowing about it or talking to you afterwards about it) your ultrasound when you are still in the clinic (say, getting dressed after the ultrasound), then you will get charged for an "office visit" even if there is no conversation between you and the doctor specifically about the ultrasound; however, if you leave the office soon enough that the doctor doesn't get to review your results (and review it after you have left), then you will not get charged for the "office visit". Therefore, for the same type of ultrasound visits, for some of them they get to charge you more for the "office visit" without you even knowing about it or being able to verify it. When I questioned them about where this policy was written and where I could find it, they (a representative named "Leslie" on the phone) told me it was not their responsibility to inform the patients about their billing policy (?!). All in all, avoid this fertility clinic!!! They may have nice offices and equipments, but they certainly don't have your best interest at heart, and they charge way more than some other clinics. Doctors at GWU and Dominion are so much more meticulous in finding out the best treating plan, and way more responsible for your health.
Response: Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We use all patient feedback as an opportunity to learn and improve. We would like to hear more about your specific situation, please reach out to our SGF Patient Experience Advocate, Susan Allen, RN, at 571-350-8493. Thank you.

Virginia Center for Reproductive Medicine: what do users think?

Julia Scott: From the moment we came to see Dr. Sharara and his team, I knew we were in safe and loving hands. He is an educator at heart, and truly takes the time to explain each situation, process, and possible solution to you. The first thing that he prescribed was that I change my diet to a healthier, more clean way of eating, which I love. It shows that he truly treats the whole person, and not just with drugs. He is incredibly intelligent and experienced, and really knows what he is talking about. Trust him and the process! My favorite thing about our experience was that we were never just a number like people often talk about being at bigger, high traffic clinics - I was terrified to admit I needed to be treated for infertility (especially at only 27 years old!), but the office staff, nurses, and Dr. S himself always made my husband and me feel like family. We were greeted with smiles and a hug, reassured, and there was always a plan for moving forward if something didn’t work the way we initially thought. We got to see our doctor at every single appointment. The nurses are absolutely amazing. Jo, Lilly, and Jessica are always there to comfort you and make you feel like you don’t have to go through the process alone. I couldn’t ask for a better team to have take care of us. We eventually moved past IUIs and completed a round of IVF which was successful, and we are now expecting our first child! All within a year of treatment. Dr. Sharara and his amazing team will always be family to us and have the most special place in our hearts. I cannot speak highly enough of them! We love you, VCRM!!!
Response: thank you Julia for your review. All the hard work you put in made all the difference, and we could not ask for a more responsible patient to take care of, and we know everything you learned you will pass on to anyone you meet who needs help. We miss you and are so happy for both of you. Cannot wait to meet the baby. Happy new year

Jenny Rivera: Sharara will push you to do tests you don't need. He will push his paid app. His staff is the most rude ever, except Jo. Beware because they will hold your medical records even if you are waiting for insurance to pay a pending bill, and will not release records until you pay your pending bill, which is against the law since doctors are not supposed to hold medical records. His staff will hang up on you if you try to tell them anything they don't want to hear. Doctors are not supposed to hold records regardless of billing status. I stopped treatment with him due to some troubling behavior from his end. As for his office, compared to other fertility clinics we've since consulted, Virginia Center for Reproductive Medicine seems outdated. Equipment is old and I don't think his lab /technology is up to par. I would seriously go to CCRM/ Shady Grove even though they treat you like a number their success rates are higher and technology is better. Sharara's staff and paid reviewers will call me a liar and come after me, but everything I am writing is the absolute honest truth. Beware of this practice and if you write a bad review they will come after you and forcefully tell you to remove it. That's how they have a decent rating and that's how he stays in business. Please go to a modern, updated fertility clinic with doctors who are following the latest research and keeping equipment updated. The doctor has responded (or one of his staff) calling me a liar, as expected and wondering why we continued care with him. To respond to his question about continuing care, Sharara will make you do so many tests for both partners even for donor eggs, right after the first visit, so even if you go to him for a little while, you'll have records.
Response: Dear "Jen Po" First of all I have never winked at anyone in my life and one of the main reasons to always have a nurse present at all times during an examination is to make sure delusional patients like you would never accuse their physician of such actions. To write something like this and claim this is the "absolute honest truth" only proves you need to seek a different kind of care. As far as your medical records, you have every right to ask for a copy but it is the law that we can charge for providing them to you. Please refer to any state medical society and they will confirm. We also never hold medical records "hostage" as you can request a copy anytime you want regardless of pending claims or payments. If you thought everyone is "rude", your doctor "winked" at you, and we have an old office with outdated equipment (and God knows what else), why did you continue your care with us enough for you to have medical records that you asked to have a copy of? Your lies unfortunately do not add up. That said, we are surely consulting with a lawyer because of the blatant lies and accusations that you raise against the physician.

Marsha Stanley: Before visiting VCRM and meeting Dr Sharara.. I had 5 IUI AND 6 IVFs with other Richmond VA doctors. All unfortunately we're unsuccessful in achieving live births. I had spent over 60k in fertility meds and treatments. I was 36 and I only had enough funds for 1 more IVF try. We decided to change doctors. As soon as I met Dr Sharara I knew he was the one. I am proudly now mother of 11 year old boy/girl twins. Dr Sharara will always be considered a family member to us.If your reading this.. don't go to ANY other doctor... Why have 2nd best when you can have THE BEST DOCTOR IN THE FERTILITY!!!
Response: Dearest Marsha, Happy new year and thank you for your kind review. Cannot believe it has been 12 years already. It still feels like yesterday. We wish you and the family continued health, success and happiness. Enjoy them everyday, they surely grow too fast. before you know it they will be applying for college. All the best and please stay in touch.

Amber Reed: VCRM was the first place we went to during my IVF search and from the first meeting, my husband and I absolutely loved him. He was very knowledgeable and made us feel comfortable during this difficult time in our lives. We were admitted in May 2021 and was pregnant by September 2021. We are now expecting our first little one thanks to Dr. Sharara and his team. Nurse Joanne is our favorite she calls to check up on you and is so friendly. Only thing I will recommend as far as Financial is that costs varies according to your specific needs, so be prepared. My husband and I needed more money but we went through Future Family and they were helpful.
Response: Thank you Amber for your review and we are so happy for both of you. Cannot wait to meet the little one. Wishing you a smooth and easy pregnancy. Please stay in touch and drop by when you are in the area.

Aryan O: An amazing doctor and team of staff. So loving, nurturing and very sincere. Dr Sharara is very thorough, providing a holistic approach. Jo is so sweet; she called me several times to check on me when I was having an allergic reaction to Progesterone. Update: We conceived our second child thanks to Dr Sharara and his team. Dr Sharara performed several tests to insure we’d have a healthy pregnancy. He discovered a few concerns and I had surgery to clear the issue. He performed a trial transfer and guided transfer with ultrasound. I’m so grateful for his team and addressing all our health concerns to prevent a miscarriage. He is truly the best doctor for fertility needs
Response: Thank you Aryan. It was an honor to have been of help. We are so happy for you. Please keep us posted and cannot wait to meet baby #2

Seán O'Donnell: After “getting” our son on our first implantation attempt, we were sad and disappointed when the next implantation didn’t take. But we weren’t discouraged, and we trusted the practice at UPMC Magee. We wanted another child badly enough to look past the impersonal, transactional interactions with the giant provider. But when the tally ran to two failed implantations and a miscarriage, we were left without any blinders or bias and started looking elsewhere. Research and “interviews” with a number of practices led us to Dr. Sharara and the VCRM team. From the first call, we could tell that they’d be who we’d trust our fertilization journey with from then on. The confidence and clarity that Dr. Sharara presented put our minds at ease (as much as possible), and the administrative and nursing support staff were personal, attentive, and understanding. We drove almost 4 hours each way to work with the VCRM team, to much success. Dr. Sharara proposed some new tests and analyses that we’d never been introduced to, in addition to the one or two that UPMC said might be helpful. Though going through the process was frustrating at times, it was not for lack of compassion, consideration, and rigor on the VCRM team’s part. After all was said and done, we had a successful FTE transfer and are 10 weeks along now. We know we would not be at this point with our old provider, and we can’t thank (and recommend) Dr. Sharara, Jo, and the entire VCRM staff enough.
Response: Thank you Sean for your kind words. We are all thrilled for both of you and pray that the rest of the pregnancy goes smoothly. We cannot wait to meet the baby. Please keep us posted.

Gary Thomas: We had the most wonderful experience with VCRM! We had previously undergone 2 rounds of IVF with another clinic, but discovered we are unable to have biological children together. We ended up using an embryo adoption agency and VCRM was willing to accept the embryos for us, which was such a blessing. From the very beginning, we felt so welcomed by the staff and knew we were in good hands. Dr. Sharara is very thorough in his approach and we appreciate his up front and honest communication. He leaves no stone unturned when doing testing and was able to treat us for an issue we didn't even know we had! We went through 2 transfers with them and are currently pregnant with twins from our second transfer! And we still have embryos waiting for us in the future :) The front desk staff is super easy to work with and are very quick to communicate and nurse Jo is just wonderful. We would recommend VCRM to anyone looking to build their family!

Angela Jackson: My husband and I could not be happier with the decision to start our family with VCRM. Initially, we were with another "big box" fertility treatment center in the NoVA area and decided to make a move after a couple of big oversights on their part, we felt like just another dollar sign. After sharing my experience with friends who had also struggled with infertility, we were referred to Dr. Sharara and the VCRM team. I could tell from the initial phone call that we were on a better path. Mary, the receptionist was warm and got us in right away. At our initial consult, Dr. Sharara had taken a thorough look at what screens/testing we had already done and decided that we needed to retest. Upon evaluation of the new tests, he discovered another oversight on our first fertility centers evaluation, one that would have had us continue to try an improper treatment and cost us valuable time and money. With the correct assessment, we were able to come up with a treatment plan and get started right away. I felt fully supported by Dr. Sharara and the team and saw him every appointment (this was entirely different from our first clinic, I met my doctor once). His nurse Jo, who I LOVE, was in touch quickly with me if I had questions, at any time of the day or night, which was so helpful. Trish, who manages billing, took the time to explain our coverage multiple times and was quick to respond to my follow up questions. I felt like family, which during this difficult time, was exactly what I needed. This was NOT easy, you will likely be on a strict diet and quite a few supplements. Dr. Sharara is direct during the process and will tell you what will and will not work to get to your goals based on his years of experience. If you do what he asks, it will be worth it in the end. I'm writing this review as my newborn is sleeping... If you are even contemplating getting assistance on your fertility journey, I highly recommend VCRM.
Response: Thank you very much Angela for your kind words and review. We are thrilled to have been of help and wish you only the best for your family.

Danielle Sanchez: The staff was very nice, but the place was so dirty. Blood spots on the floor and the bathroom was so gross. I do not have the wrong practice! I called and spoke to several people
Response: Sorry but we do not have you as a patient. You clearly have the wrong practice. If you noticed blood on the floor it is clearly from the patient who was there before you. We expect people to clean after themselves or at least point this out to us. We do not check the bathroom after each patient. You should have told us if you saw blood on the floor so we can clean it immediately rather than going and giving a bad review for something we did not do. Good luck to you

Remington Ash: I cannot say enough nice things about Dr. Sharara and his staff. My husband and I visited the practice after months of failed attempts to conceive and were met by a knowledgeable, concise, and comforting professional. Through their advise, we were able to conceive naturally within two months. Sadly, nature had other plans and Dr. Sharara gently coached us through a heartbreaking ectopic pregnancy. We decided to use IVF and ultimately lucked out after one round. We felt so well taken care of and valued by everyone, from Mary and Trisha at the reception desk to Jo and Lily in the back. We were sad to move on from VCRM but with good reason! Can't recommend them enough.
Response: Thank you Remington for your kind words. We are thrilled that you are pregnant and happy. Please keep us posted and good luck with the pregnancy. You will make a wonderful parents.

Shady Grove Fertility in Arlington, VA: what do users think?

Jtiona Corridon: The team at this location is nothing short of exceptional. From the front desk to the nurse practitioner, everyone was always pleasant. I’ve had a successful pregnancy with Shady Grove via IUI on the first try on 2020 .I was so thrilled that i decided to return for baby number 2. I was a bit weary because I was only familiar with the Rockville office but this location worked better for me this time around .Serena and Ashley always did there best to get me to work on time . They were efficient and I always felt like they genuinely loved there job . The nurse practitioner Tammy was my favorite!! She was a breath of fresh air .She was so hopeful , when i lost all hope . She was also knowledgeable and friendly. Upon confirming my pregnancy everyone was genuinely happy. Overall this second experience was perfect !
Response: Jtiona, Thank you so much for sharing your experience with Serena, Ashley, Tammy and our Arlington team! We love hearing from our patients, it really helps us to ensure we are providing the best possible care. Thank you again, for sharing your experience and congratulations! We are so excited for you and your growing family!

Aisha Williams: The IVF journey is frustrating, challenging and emotional. I have waited three weeks to allow time to reflect and share my personal experience with SGF as a patient. The interactions rushed, cookie cutter updates, like going to McDonalds but receiving a bill for a five star wagyu steak dinner. If you are looking for one-on one attention, look somewhere else. All the doctors are on a rotation, and it is rare you will speak or even see them at appointments. Unless as I was informed, I change what is best for me to what was on the schedule for my doctor (Dr. Nair). On the rare occasions Dr. Make sure you hold people accountable and are in the right place, with the right team to increase your chances of a wining hand.

Trina McFadden: Dr. Malik and Nurse Lana were the absolute best team and we could not have received better care. All of our concerns/questions were addressed and Dr. Malik made us feel confident as we took each step in our fertility journey. In addition, Nurse Lana was always there to provide clarity and encouragement. This process is stressful, but we are so pleased with the level of care and compassion shown to us. I trusted Shady Grove Arlington to help us along this difficult journey and feel as though we were blessed to have Dr. Malik and Nurse Lana on our case. 10/10 to them.
Response: Trina, Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience with Dr. Malik, Lana and our Arlington team! Feedback like this really helps motivate us on a daily basis. We appreciate that you chose SGF for this journey.

Gina Stefanik: Dr. Malik was so wonderful to work with during our experience with SGF, I can't recommend her highly enough. Dr. Malik was recommended to us by my oncologist. During such an emotional journey such as fertility treatment & prior to that, cancer, Dr. Malik is the type of doctor you want to work with - she's kind, compassionate, genuine, and patient. She did a wonderful job explaining the facts, statistics, and processes in a way that was straightforward but didn't make you feel hopeless. Dr. Malik also cares just as much about your medical care as she does about your emotional well-being. There were several times where I received calls from her DIRECTLY to talk about lab results and next steps. She listened to our concerns & thoughts and came up with a specialized plan just for us to maximize our chances based on our specific situation. Most doctors nowadays wouldn't even take the time. After 3 failed IUIs, 3 failed IVF cycles, two of which were canceled due to poor response, we are finally pregnant! Dr. Malik PERSONALLY called to tell us the news and she was equally as elated as we were. While the news itself was awesome, the pure genuineness Dr. Malik displayed was so wonderfully heartwarming because it showed just how much she cared and was invested in our success. I highly recommend Dr. Malik for your fertility journey!
Response: Gina, thank you for taking the time to share your experience with Dr. Mallik and our Arlington team. It's feedback like this that really motivates us to provide the best care. Your recommendation means so much to us. Congratulations---We are so excited for you and your growing family.

Response: Nithya, Thank you so much for sharing your experience with Dr Nair, Christina and our team! We love hearing from our patients, it really helps us to ensure we are providing the best possible care. Your recommendation means so much to us!

Aniiko A: Hit or miss in hospitality I am so fortunate that to have an awesome nurse for my monitoring. The doctors on the other hand. My goodness. I go there for satillite monitoring. I would do business with them if the hospitality and compassion were more prominent than …. Won’t say the words.
Response: Aniiko A, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. Thank you.

Elef Kats: It would be fair to update my review. After writing my initial review based on how difficult or impossible is get a chance to speak with a representative..... Meanwhile did receive an apologetic call for the delay and I believe we moved on scheduling an appointment. My appointment is for March now because had to cancel my initial one due to an emergency. I’ll be back in a month after my first appointment. Thank you 😊 Oh, I will give 4 🌟🌟🌟🌟 (the lady who reached out she was very kind) One ⭐️ Scheduling appointment service is very poor. Here is an example: I’ve been trying to schedule an appointment two weeks now. I’ve left voicemails no one has returned so I decided since my apartment complex is nearby, to go in person and schedule an appointment. The lady at the front desk very polite- she kept my name and number - Haven’t heard back from them. It’s been 3 days now.
Response: Elef, It does appear as if we have been trying to reach you. If you are still having trouble, please reach out to me at 571-350-8493. I am happy to help.

Jacquelyn Brioux: Dr. Reh helped my wife and I through an unexpectedly challenging pregnancy journey over the past two years, involving four IUI attempts, two miscarriages, two IVF egg retrievals with PGTA testing, and one successful embryo transfer. The entire team at SGF in Arlington (especially) and Fairfax and Rockville (during specific procedures and weekend hours) were truly remarkable! At each step in our journey, Dr. Reh demonstrated a lot of thought, care, and compassion for our experience. She answered all of my questions and helped us feel truly supported at every stage. Her sincere joy over our successful pregnancy was so touching and we're just so grateful to her, our nurse Cait, Heather and Anne, Steve, and all the front desk and support staff. When you finally "graduate" from SGF, it's actually bittersweet because you're thrilled to have a healthy pregnancy, but you also want to keep celebrating each milestone with the folks who helped make your dream a reality. Thank you!
Response: Jacquelyn, Thank you so much for sharing your experience with Dr. Reh and our whole Arlington team! We love hearing from our patients, it really helps us to ensure we are providing the best possible care. Thank you again, for sharing this wonderful experience and congratulations, we are so excited for you and your growing family!

Danielle Sanchez: would give zero if I could, horrible practice that I do not recommend. Tell you one thing and then when you are ready for help they deny you. Go somewhere else.
Response: Danielle, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. Thank you.

Briana McClain: Shady Grover fertility was such a great experience for my wife and I. Everyone was so caring and kind and knowledgeable. My wife and I were able to successfully get pregnant on our first try and while that may have been luck or good fortune, the staff at shady grove did such a good job of making sure we would be supported and comforted regardless of the outcome. They also do a very good job of making sure that we are fully aware of our cost and our options so that we were prepared for first, next and future steps. We went through the process during Covid-19 and although it was scary at times, the clinic did a great job of keeping up safety protocols and making sure we felt safe. They also did an amazing job of making sure my wife was included and involved via FaceTime and phone calls even tho she was not able to attend the appointments in person. I would 100% reccommend shady grove to all couples trying to get pregnant. All the testing and check ins and checks ups are crucial to a healthy pregnancy as well as piece of mine.
Response: Briana, thank you so much for sharing your experience with and our Arlington team! We love to hear from our patients, it really helps us to ensure we are providing the best possible care. Thank you again, for sharing your experience and congratulations, we are excited for you and your growing family!

justin kimo: My husband and I are again here to praise the Lord for Dr. Yemi and her Stagg. This is our second successful transfer, successful pregnancy, and successful delivery and birth of our daughter. Thank you Doctor Yemi and staff. Our journey with you started couple years ago but it seems like yesterday and it is continuing. You are a true source of inspiration. WITH THE AMAZING GRACE OF GOD Just follow her advices and let yourselves be guided by her knowledge, expertise, and awesome staff and you will be surprised with the outcomes. Best doctor around. Mr.Freddy.
Response: Thank you so much for your kind words. We love working with you and your family. Thank you, you and your family are very dear to us.

Jennifer Singley: Dr Famuyiwa and her staff were wonderful! They took the time to discuss with me what the steps were for egg freezing and they were very attentive in following up with me to see how I was doing. Most importantly, I’m very appreciative of their integrity and warmth throughout the process as this can be a very sensitive subject for many women wanting to conceive in the future. I highly recommend them hands down!
Response: Jennifer thank you for your kind words. We truly appreciated being able to serve your needs. PS. You were very delightful to work with and it was a complete pleasure. All the best

Abdul Morenikejiy: My husband and I met doctor Yemisi Famuyiwa in 2016 after being to other fertility clinics in Nigeria and Dubai She welcomed us warmly and also treated us like a family. My experience with her was the best out of all the clinics I have been to. She did a fantastic job with us and now I'm a proud mother. It took us 11 years to have our bundle of joy but at all ends in praise. The staffs were wonderful and very accommodating. Their service was top notch.
Response: Thank you Ms Abdul. It has been delightful working with your family. We truly rejoice with you.

Parvin Talaee: The best doctor around. I have been to many doctors over the years and no one took the time to explain anything to me. Dr. Famuyiwa explained everything to me and took her time to make sure I understood everything. She truly cares about her patients and treats everyone like family. I highly recommend her and her entire staff.
Response: Thank you so much Parvin. God bless you and your family.

Margaret Peter: You are in great hands with Dr. Famuyiwa! Not only is she an expert in her field, but she takes the time to make her patients feel comfortable and explains everything in great detail. The moment I walked in I immediately felt like family. If you want a doctor that truly cares this is where you should go.
Response: Thank you so much for your kind words. We love what we do and we love our wonderful patients.

Mary Freddy: To GOD be the Glory, we can't thank the LORD enough for what HE has done for us. Life is full of obstacle, and we were at the edge looking for some answers and the correct direction to take for our concerns; HE lead us to Dr. Yemi and her staff. Dr. Yemi worked with us and treated us like her own family. Her staff is awesome. This was a special experience for us and did everything the Dr. recommended in her care plan and at the end of the entire process we finally got pregnant with our baby boy. The best and blessed doctor in the area so far, a beautiful staff, a successful treatment, a successful transfer, a successful pregnancy, and a blessed baby boy (our little prophet who is now 5months). Thank you O LORD, thanks to my beautiful wife, thank you Dr. Yemi, thank you to the staff. I definitely recommend Dr. Yemi to you, trust your GOD and go to Dr. Yemi.
Response: Thank you so much for your kind words. It was truly a pleasure working with your family. You are the reason we work and get fulfillment from our work. Thank you.

S R: I came to Dr. Yemi in 2017 for fertility treatment with her help I discovered that I had an underlying medical issue that required surgery before I could proceed. She recommended one of the regions best surgeons When I returned to her the following summer for a fertility follow-up after my surgery I was surprised to discover her office had developed some rather unscrupulous billing practices. Not only that, during our conversation I felt she never thought I would qualify for the surgery and brushed me off without any medical tests stating that I would not be able to successfully carry a child to term and should get a surrogate. My experience with her made me feel that American fertility treatment is more about making the medical professionals rich rather than the patients needs. I do want to thank Dr. Yemi for a couple of things. I am grateful for the surgeon recommendation, I feel without him I would have lost all hope. Second, I am grateful that my follow-up appointment with her was a disaster which ultimately led to me seeking fertility treatment in India during Fall of 2019. Instead of being in debt to the tune of upwards of $50K or more, and several rounds of IVF treatment. I went to India (after some research) and paid about $5K for one round of IVF. I am pleased to say that I gave birth this past May 2020 to my son.
Response: SR I am simply delighted for you on the birth of your son. I understand how you feel. The price of IVF in America is indeed higher than in India. Unfortunately, we cannot control the costs of treatment in America. We instead have one of the lowest prices in our area. I know patients get upset when given prices and sometimes they can dwell on that and not hear the rest of the message. We apologize if you felt “brushed off”. That was never the intention. I agree that we can do more to make fertility treatment widespread at lower cost maybe you can lend your voice to the push to have more broad insurance fertility coverage in America.

Kare Martinez: Update: after my email to the office I received a call from Dr. Yemi. She first apologize and then explained they had just updated their accounting software and that outstanding balance was an error. I also received an email from the office manager. I appreciated the prompt response to fix it. Hence the reason I’m updating my Original review. My actual appointments with Dr. Yemi were excellent. While the Dr is nice, stay vigilant of your money. I visited the office two years ago, twice. One for the initial consultation/tests. The second one for results. I paid my copay in cash both times. They are coming after me 2 years later for unpaid copay. I was able to find one of the receipts, will continue to look for the second one. It is extremely frustrating to deal with an office with this shady practices. Either someone pocketed the money or they don't have the proper administrative/accounting support. If you insist on going here, please ask for your receipt ALWAYS!

Vanessa Jose: Wow!!! I don’t know where to start. From the first day we walked in to that office in September 2017, it has been nothing but great service. Very supportive staff, you have a doctor that actually treat you like family and not just as a random patient. It has been a long journey for us but they were with us, we laugh and cried together. You can tell that the love and the support is genuine...that’s what I called a Good Doctor. Fertility is something that our community overlook, people have no compassion these days and treat you like a disabled; the Montgomery Fertility center staff never made me feel like a was worthless, if anything they had faith I would become a mother. Pricing if anything is below the market... trust me I did my research. As a returned customer you get great discount which was a plus. This is the only clinic that when you feel like your world is turning upside down, you can walk in without an appointment to your doctor’s office and let it all out. As a registered nurse and a patient, i can guarantee you the treatment there is outstanding . Don’t get me wrong, there is no perfect place on this earth and this is why they’re working harder every day to improve patient satisfaction. I will recommend you guys to anyone, love you all😘😘😘😘
Response: Thank you Vanessa

Cantbestop88: We pray for help and a better understanding but when people talk good, please ask the Lord for a better road. As a human, I'm beyond disappointed on how this office handled my wife. No respect, no professionalism, no sense for life. Just didn't care it all about the money. The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.
Response: Dear Mr DG We are sorry that you feel distressed and hope you feel better. We do ask for a little patience for us to at least meet your wife once and have an initial consult with her. I believe after she has at least been a patient once you will both get to know us better. We understand that the fertility journey is fraught with stress more so during this unfortunate pandemic. We will try to answer all calls and emails and would appreciate the opportunity to make your acquaintance. God bless you and your wife.

Shady Grove Fertility in Fair Oaks, VA: what do users think?

Aleenah James: Updated review: I’ve had a good experience with shady grove thus far. Shady grove responded very quickly to an issue I had related to their mask policy. I sincerely appreciate the quick response and kindness. This issue was the only issue I’ve had at sgf, and it’s been resolved. Thank you!
Response: Aleenah, we value your feedback! We appreciate that you brought the issue to our attention and have worked to ensure the issue has been addressed. We thank you for your patience in this matter. Again, thank you for your kind feedback.

David Rhyne: I've worked with some subpar medical professionals in the past (unfortunately) but I think Shady Grove takes the cake. It's been 4 weeks since my test was supposed to be ready "in one week" and after a dozen calls, tons and tons of waiting on the line, correcting their many mistakes, etc., I still don't have my results. There's a reason they make you pay up front – they do horrible work.
Response: I'm glad we were able to better understand the situation and resolve it for you. Thank you for helping us to ensure the best experience for our patients. We appreciate your patience in this matter.

Anastasia Sothoron: I first called Shady Grove Fertility in the begining of July. The first appointment was set for August 17 costing 180.00 day of appointment or 230 if billed. They were able to move it due to a cancel in mid July. I was told the appointment via video would be an hour or hour an half. It lasted 20 mins. I paid and was ready to move to next step. They are going give you a "team" financial, nurses, doctor and coordinator. You will have a list of questions after the first appointment. Biggest issue I am receiving is the financial person has no idea what the doctor ordered so cannot give me an accurate break down of cost. The initial consult Dr. told me I want to check this on you (XYZ) and send your husband to Urologist. Took me 2 weeks and many many calls later to get better idea what this all means. Urologist is a 6-7 week out appointment via phone. Thats disappointing. needless to say. So for about 400-500 dollars and 3 months in you get two phone calls with Dr.'s and not real progress. I hope by year 2022 we will finally meet someone in person to help us. Between testing for my husband and I it will be 1,500 ish. So far REALLY disappointed in response and how generic the emails are by shady grove. Does not make you feel they are caring to each patient as an individuals. Almost scam like feels while starting the process. Hope things get better.
Response: Anastasia, we regret to hear that you had a negative experience with us, but would appreciate the chance to turn your experience around. Please reach out to our Patient Experience Advocate, Susan Allen, at 571-350-8493.

Lisa Yonan: We have had the same issue twice with regards to referrals. Very unprofessional and unsympathetic. Our insurance required a referral in order to see the doctor, so both my husband and I got referrals they were valid for months ahead. We were under the impression that the referrals were good for all visits. Once we were booked for appointments and treatments and finished, they notified us AFTERRRR we finished appointments and treatments that the billing would be our responsibility because we didn't have a referral. We were confused and explained that we did get a referral and they stated that a referral was needed for each individual visit and treatment. So, we told them no one notified us of this and we were only told we needed to get a referral. The reply we got BOTH TIMES was "oh..we probably forget, here's your bill". And so my husband asked to speak to a supervisor and when transferred, got put on a long hold and then sent to voicemail where no one returned his call. When you are going to get help with a sensitive issue, you would hope that those you're going to for help with help with the process would ease your stress and not add on a heavy weight.
Response: Lisa, we regret to hear that you had a negative experience with us, but would appreciate the chance to turn your experience around. Thank you for taking the time to share this feedback with us. We use all patient feedback as an opportunity to learn and improve. We would like to hear more about your specific situation, please reach out to our SGF Patient Experience Advocate, Susan Allen, RN, at 571-350-8493. Thank you.

Steffie Steph: After reading the reviews I was a little hesitant but decided to give SGF a try. I went to the Fairfax location (3 visits) and was just fed up with the customer service recieved at front desk (nursing/tech staff was great) and was over it. Fortunately I had an appointment at the fair oaks location. This place was great from the first hello, to the actual appointment, to the checkout and follow up. Nita is phenomenal! I forgot the other lady name but she was great too. Even with dealing/resolving my dissatisfaction with the other office and billing concerns. Dr. Swelstad was very nice, great bedside manner and was patient even though I know he had back to back appointments. This office is definitely the standard.
Response: Steffie, thank you so much for your positive comments about Shady Grove Fertility - Fair Oaks! We would love to hear more about your experience with us. Please reach out to our Patient Experience Advocate, Susan Allen, RN, at 571-350-8493. We use all feedback as a chance to improve. Thank you, again, for providing your review.

jackiearias02: My husband and I saw Dr.Swelstad today for our first visit and he was so great! He made us feel very comfortable and he was very knowledgeable. He made some jokes and put my nerves at ease and he asked questions to get to know us. He seems to love his work and genuinely care. We’ve been trying for about 2 years and we’ve been feeling so sad and low about it, but today Dr.Swelstad gave us hope and we feel excited. If you need fertility services, I highly recommend Dr.Swelstad, he’ll make you feel prepared and hopeful.
Response: Jackie, Thank you so much for sharing your experience with Dr. Swelstad! We love hearing from our patients, it really helps us to ensure we are providing the best possible care. Your recommendation means so much.

Lauren McGovern: I love the doctors and nurses here. Staff is helpful and flexible. The nurses are kind and supportive. Appointments are always available and they will squeeze you in at a moment's notice. I would give it 5 stars, but BEWARE. The billing is a nightmare. Almost every month Shady Grove would send me bills for random amounts. It took weeks upon weeks to get the billing situated. We haven't been to the office in 4 months and I am still trying to get my insurance to tell them I don't owe them any money!!! Each visit they tried to add on a few dollars and it adds up. Know your benefits and insurance, because they WILL try to get more money out of you!

FRA Poole: I'm in a SGF Facebook group and have just been reading some horror stories about some of the other facilities. I just want to say THANK YOU to SGF Fair Oaks for how you treat your patients (very positive messages in there about this specific facility). The personal phone calls (whether treatment worked or not) go such a long way. Some in the FB group are talking about monotone nurses and doctors leaving voicemails on their phone and I can't imagine. I appreciate this facility so much (especially my nurse, Patrice & my doctor, Dr. Malik)! I haven't had success YET :) , but the treatment I have received thus far has been wonderful. You all connect with your patients and it shows! I just wanted to pass this along to you all incase you haven't heard it before. It doesn't go unnoticed!
Response: Thank you so much for sharing your experience with our Fair Oaks Office, Dr. Malik, and Patrice! We love to hear from our patients, it really helps us to ensure we are providing the best possible care. Good luck with your next treatment cycle, we are all rooting for you!

Elaina Grant: I had a great experience with Shady Grove, I did 2 IUI’s and thankfully my second one was successful! Everyone was very nice and professional, special shout-out to my nurse Jean, Dr.Browne, Dr.Swelstead, and Julie!! I was actually sad when I had to leave them and go to my OBGYN!
Response: Elaina, thank you so much for sharing your experience with our Fair Oaks team! We love to hear from our patients, it really helps us to ensure we are providing the best possible care. Thank you again, for sharing your experience and congratulations, we are excited for you and your growing family!

Allison Jack: I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Malik. She is sensitive, kind, knowledgeable, and communicates clearly and frequently with her patients. She allows plenty of time for questions and I always felt listened to and respected. It was also clear that Dr Malik was very well informed about the most current research on best practices for a patient with my profile. My whole clinical care team was highly responsive and extremely professional. I always got an answer to my time-sensitive questions, no matter the time of day. I always felt that I was receiving the best possible care. Cannot recommend more highly.

Dr. Fady I. Sharara, MD: what do users think?

Frances Cruz: This practice was a heaven sent for me and my husband. Everyone is so friendly, nice and helpful. Dr. Sharara took time to talk to us and tailored our needs, he even considered our latest bloodwork and testing for us to save time and money. He prescribed me the right medications and vitamins to sustain my pregnancy. Jo was very nice, Mary was very helpful and the front desk are very reliable. I love these group of people. They are amazing! I would highly recommend them to my family, friends and to anyone who is planning to build a family. Go ahead and make an appointment, you will be in the right place with proper care from the experts.
Response: Thank you Frances for your kind words. It was an honor to have been of help. We wish you a great pregnancy and cannot wait to meet the baby :)

Joud Sebai: Dr. Sharara and his team were the absolute best! He was very caring, polite, knowledgeable and highly experienced. I felt taken care of from day one and he was always available to answer all my questions and concerns. The nurses were also super caring and helpful! I never had to wait for my appointment, he was ALWAYS on time. I had a great experience and will always recommend him for anyone who needs to go through fertility treatment. He is simply the best!
Response: Thank you very much Joud for the vote of confidence and kind words. We are all so happy for both of you and cannot wait to meet the baby. Stay safe

Molly Walterhoefer: “This was too easy!” – Those are the actual words I said to Dr. Sharara the day we found out I was finally pregnant after 3 grueling years of failed infertility treatment with other doctors. My experience with Dr. Sharara and his team was truly exceptional and I would highly recommend him to anyone, whether just starting your infertility journey or if you’ve been trying for years as I had been. Dr. Sharara is smart, thorough, and efficient. At my first consultation he was able to give me an accurate diagnosis, a concise and personalized treatment plan, and a comprehensive regimen of lifestyle changes to implement which had never been discussed with me by other providers I had worked with in the past. I was able to start treatment immediately and my very first round of IVF/FET was successful on the first try with absolutely no complications along the way. After spending years being told I was an “extremely difficult case” and even considering giving up on trying to get pregnant, my experience with Dr. Sharara was absolutely life changing. I am now 25 weeks pregnant with a healthy baby girl and I cannot thank him enough for this incredible blessing! Another huge benefit to working with Dr. Sharara is that his staff/team is a small, tight-knit group that works flawlessly together to give you the best overall experience they possibly can. After being a patient at a larger infertility group for years, this proved to be invaluable and made for such an easy and stress free experience. Dr. Sharara was present at all my visits/procedures and having him as my sole provider allowed for much more continuity and attentiveness to my case. Mary made scheduling easy and was extremely accommodating to my schedule, which was not always easy given that I drove 1.5 hours to see him. Trish made all the financial transactions transparent and was extremely knowledgeable about insurance coverage versus out of pocket costs which helped me to make good financial decisions during my treatment course. Jo and the rest of the nurses/staff were accessible whenever I had questions and were always pleasant and friendly in the office making my visits something to look forward to. Finding an infertility doctor that was as equally brilliant as they were compassionate and attentive to my individual needs as a patient proved to be a major obstacle to my success for years, until I found Dr. Sharara. His combination of expertise and personalized care simply cannot be beat!
Response: Thank you Molly for your kind words and vote of confidence. It was an absolute honor to have been of help and wish you as easy a pregnancy and delivery. You are every doctor's dream patient in how positive and committed you were throughout the process. You also have made it easy despite what you went through before. We cannot wait to meet your baby girl. Stay safe

Manal Al Haj Khalil: Dr. Fady Sharara is wonderful and I highly recommend him! I had a great experience with him. I can personally attest to his expertise and to his compassionate and sensitive care. Dr. Sharara treated my PCOS, which was causing my long irregular periods, successfully and control it with Metformin and Cabergoline. After taking strict instructions on diet for 1 month, I got pregnant naturally. He is proactive, thorough, and genuinely cares. After I got pregnant, he sent a letter to my OBGYN updating him about my pregnancy status, about the medications I was taking, and he asked him to take good care of me. His staff is very kind and friendly. They treated us like family. Mary was very helpful scheduling me and giving me the best times that worked with my schedule. She is also very welcoming and pleasant when we come in. Trisha, who oversees billing, explained to us clearly what our insurance plan covers and what it does not cover. She also helped us by providing us with a payment plan. Jo, his nurse was very compassionate and always called me to check on me and assisted me from my first day in this practice till the last day before I transferred to the OBGYN. I maybe missing a couple of other staff members, but they were all great there! Thank you Dr. Fady Sharara and staff for everything and God Bless You!
Response: Thank you Manal for your kind words. We are so happy for both of you and cannot wait to meet the baby. Stay safe

Taylor Ivey: OVERALL EXPERIENCE: There are no words that can accurately describe the care I received at Dr. Sharara's office. After five years of trying to conceive, visiting multiple doctors (military specialists, OB-GYNs, etc), no one could figure out why I was getting pregnant. Then we started going to Dr. Sharara's office and he did tests no one else even mentioned. We started seeing him in September/October and my tests began almost immediately and I ended up having surgery in November. Then, just months later, in April, I found out I was pregnant. Now I'm 14 weeks pregnant with a healthy baby girl. I will never be able to show enough gratitude to Dr. Sharara and his staff; because of them, my husband and I are looking out our dreams of becoming parents. DR. SHARARA: The doctor is a very attentive and caring person. You can tell from the moment you enter into your first appointment that he is there for you and not for the money. At every single appointment I saw him and every time he was no nonsense but still approached you in a way that was calm and kept you calm and relaxed. THE STAFF: The staff at Dr. Sharara's office are some of the most friendly staff I've ever encountered at a doctors office. Every time I called in or came into the office they greeted me with a smile and warm welcome. I could always ask them questions and get answers back immediately. COSTS: Fertility treatment is not cheap. However, I have paid more for other doctors that have done nothing to help. Other quotes I received for certain fertility treatments such as IUI or IVF were significantly more than the quotes from Dr. Sharara's office and you get a lot more experience.

Response: Thank you very much for your kind words Aryan. We are happy to have been of help.

Renee Adams: We have had 2 successful pregnancies with Dr Sharara, he and his staff are fabulous! He is no nonsense with everything, we never felt pressured to proceed on anything until we were comfortable and he is always professional. We highly recommend him to everyone we know going through fertility struggles. We went with one of the other large groups first and it was a disaster, our experience was horrible and was ready to give up...until we met Dr Sharara!
Response: Thank you Renee for your kind words. We are so happy for you and Brian. Happy Thanksgiving

Justin Riley: Success!!!!! 39 yrs old and pregnant!!!!!!!!! It is because of Dr. Sharara’s expertise, persistence, ability to pivot when obstacles arose and his amazing team (Jo (MVP), Lilly, Trisha, Mary and everyone else behind the scenes). We first met with Dr. Sharara about a year and a half ago. He was up front with us about the process and our chances of success based on our ages (at the time 37 & 41) and health. He walked us through each and every step of the process. From what we should be eating, to the supplements that we should be taking to improve our chances for healthy egg & sperm quality to the various options of procedures that may lead to success. For us it was through IVF. Through every step of the IVF process, including the ups and the downs Dr. Sharara was always on target with his estimates of our likelihood of success. When we faced obstacles or challenges he provided techniques, methods, and procedures to overcome them. It has been a long journey from then to now with successes and heartbreaks. However, through it all Dr. Sharara and his incredible team have been extremely supportive and have used everything at their disposal to give us an opportunity to have a child. We are now happy to report that we are 11 weeks pregnant and everything is going smoothly. Thanks to Dr. Sharara and his team (especially Jo) for all of their hard work and guidance! We owe you everything.
Response: Thank you Justin for your kind words. First of all a million congratulations to a wonderful couple. Second, it has been an honor to help you both become parents (you will be wonderful). No one said the journey is always smooth but you both persisted and never waivered, and were rewarded at the end. Cannot wait to welcome the baby as part of the VCRM family. We are all praying that the pregnancy would be smooth and uneventful (had enough of that already ;). Please keep us posted and a million congratulations again.

Taylor Ivey: Dr. Sharara and his staff are absolutely amazing. From the moment I entered the doors for my first appointment I knew I was more than just a patient to them. They've always greeted me with smiles and kind words. My husband and I have been trying to get pregnant for 5 years. I've seen military specialists, fertility specialists and regular OB-GYNs. However, of all the doctors I've seen, Dr. Sharara was the only one to pinpoint a specific problem that the others did not even think of. After half a year of seeing Dr. Sharara I am now pregnant with my first baby. Dr. Sharara is a no nonsense doctor who cares about his patients, their time, and their care. I will gladly recommend Dr. Sharara to anyone.

Ana Villatoro: VCRM was a wonderful experience. The nurses (thank you, Jo!) and staff were very attentive and treated me very well during my IVF process. One thing that I appreciated about the private office is that I was always assisted by the same staff. I was not rotated by different nurses/doctors on every visit. ( This is one of the main complaints that I read on many online threads about nearby fertility clinics) Dr. Shahara is as professional as they come. I was very fortunate that my IVF journey was successful on the first attempt- I believe a big part of my success was Dr.Shahara's methods that he required me to follow. I thought at first that his methods were a bit extreme but at the end I noticed he just wants the procedure to be successful on the 1st attempt. I absolutely recommend Dr. Shahara to anybody looking for a fertility specialist.
Response: Thank you Ana for your kind words. We are so happy for you and Jose and will miss you. We wish you a healthy pregnancy. Please keep us posted Happy Thanksgiving
