Bobbi DeAnda: I threw my back out yesterday and literally could barely walk into the office, one hour later I am good to go! Dr Shu Fan is amazing! I literally gave him a hug before I left!! I was so happy I could cry! I was in SO much pain and he fixed me right up…it was like magic!
Brie Davis: I am pregnant and my baby was flipped in the wrong direction at 37 weeks. I had an acupuncture treatment with Mr. Shu Fan and following the treatment my baby successfully turned in the correct position by my next weekly ultrasound. I am thankful for the treatment and highly recommend. I also had the best sleep of my life during the process. I highly recommend and will be back again. Thank you!!
R. Lee: Update: my son was born healthy in April 2020! Thanks again. After having two back to back losses (a blighted ovum and a mmc @ 6 weeks) I researched acupuncture and saw some women had a healthy pregnancy afterwards. Usually it was with IVF patients but I figured what the heck. My second miscarriage was 6/11 and I started seeing Shu that following Friday once a week. I would also receive the herbal treatment. One of the issues I had was continued bleeding after the miscarriage and when he gave me a herb it stopped. He also told me to take my BBT so I began doing that as well. I ovulated on 7/20 and 6 days later I wondered if I conceived based on the temperature dip. 9 days later I had a positive pregnancy test! Because of the two previous losses I managed my expectations. About 5 weeks I started spotting and on my 6th week I went to the ER because of bleeding. There I was told i had blood in my uterus and had a threatened miscarriage. I went back to Shu and he told me to rest take it easy and provided more herbs. The ER gave the baby a 50/50 chance. However he wasn’t so grim. I had another bleeding episode at 7 weeks and then slowly the spotting stopped. I’m 12 weeks now and finished my last visit with him. Both me and the baby are doing well and I HIGHLY recommend going. I will say all of my tests were previously normal so I could’ve had an egg quality issue - which acupuncture helps with but usually does in a 3 month period. He had excellent customer service and was pretty flexible when my schedule would change.
Jen Chon: Sorry I wrote a long review, but my experience w Shu Fan really warrants expressing how much he has helped me. I found Dr. Shu Fan in a list of acupuncturists covered by my health insurance, and I started seeing him for chronic ankle pain. This was several years ago, and I have since returned to Shu Fan consistently when I've had other ailments (ie seasonal allergies, knee injury due to a bicycle accident, overall wellness during periods of intense stress & depression, irregular menses + related hormonal issues). It really stuck out to me on my very first visit that he listened to all of my many concerns despite the fact that I came in for one primary issue. He has a very soft-spoken, kind demeanor which is very soothing. Since coming here for many years, I've gotten to meet other regular patients (most of them come in for treatment for back pain, migraines, epilepsy, and fertility) as well as his family (wife & older teenage kids) who come in and help at times, and they have always been so warm and concerned about how I've been doing. The consistency in the care is really special, particularly in this city where most medical/holistic practices opt to grow bigger, more modern, and less personalized. Recently my health insurance stopped covering Shu Fan's acupuncture practice, so unfortunately, I've only been able to reach out in dire needs but he really helped to accommodate me with the treatment that I needed to get better. He has made me feel like my well being is paramount, and I can say unequivocally that he's in it for the passion of helping his patients to improve their quality of life and not for money. He comes from a family of acupuncturists which is also always comforting to know that your doctor has been exposed to acupuncture & herbalist practices throughout his life. I am Korean-Japanese, and my family exposed me to acupuncture & herbal treatments at a very young age, and I find Shu Fan's traditional Chinese acupuncture methods to be more effective over the Korean and Japanese methods. If you are looking for an acupuncturist doctor, I am confident Shu Fan will listen well & treat your ailments. I cannot recommend him highly enough. I've referred several of my friends to Shu Fan & will continue to do so.
Adelaide: I had a severe waist pain which felt like a burning sensation.I could not even bend to wear my shoes even when sitting flat on the floor. I decided to try the acupuncture by Dr. Shu Fan and I am very glad I did. Right after the treatment I could not feel the pain anymore and to this day I am still pain free. I tell you he really knows what he is doing and his rates are reasonable. I have recommended Dr. Shu Fan to my friends and I will recommend him to anyone who is thinking of Acupuncture. I am a living testimony. Thanks Dr. Shu Fan!

Joseph Park: Dr Jin is very competent in her field. Receiving care here has been significantly effective in treating sprains and knee pain from running injuries. After one or two treatments, I was back to running without any pain.
Eman Mossadeghi: I never write reviews but this place is very deserving. I have had chronic lower back pain for 2+ years and this treatment has worked wonders. I’ve tried cryotherapy, physical therapy, chiropractic care (also good), yoga and epidural injections. Jie Jin is the real deal. She studied in China and has done this since she was very young (her dad was an acupuncturist). Acupuncture can take months and is costly but her pricing is affordable compared to other places. It goes without saying that surgery is also expensive... As for the negativity surrounding the facility, you can easily go somewhere else, pay more and receive inferior care for better ambiance. I go to acupuncture to heal my body and I’ve finally found relief. She is easily one of the best in the DC/Metro area.
MARIANNA Alisherovna: I went to this practice for more than a year. She is always late to start appointment and cut appointment shorter. She always rush and didn’t feel any improvement. I was there after injury and I was getting reimbursed from insurance company . She altered my medical record and the Insurance company refuse to pay me back because of her false statements. I don’t recommend anyone to use this practice
Katherine Ntiamoah: Does good work however couldn’t explain to a new customer how acupuncture works, asked me to sign a document that I received the privacy waiver without actually having a copy for me to read. The office is small and cramped and not conducive to a relaxing experience. Lastly, the billing system was rife with errors. Double check you are clear on how they will bill you and always get a receipt.

Miyuki Horie: [Update 11/22/19] It's been 1 year and 10 months, and Kelly has helped me not only maintain health but also achieve athletic goals. He has treated countless sports-relared muscle injuries and joint pains that I've suffered by using different methods including Gua Sha, heat cupping, and electroacupuncture. He doesn't need X-rays, MRI or other labs. He listens to his clients carefully and also can find the problems by touch/palpation. I have just completed my 2nd full marathon. I ran my first race last year after the miraculous recovery from the debilitating back issue which a chiropractor (MD) couldn't fix after 33 sessions (3months) for $3000. Kelly diligently worked on the problem area, and I recovered from being unable to stand up straight/walk to running a full marathon. Kelly has continued to support me throughout my training and enabled me to earn another finisher medal (*See photo from this year's race) This man is literally my primary doctor now. ____________ [Update 1/30/19] I still see Kelly regularly, and we have worked on many body parts: neck, shoulders, upper & lower back, hips, thighs, legs, feet (I'm quite athletic). My hives are well under control, and I've been off the allergy medication that I was on for 2+ years every day before seeing him. _________________ [Update 3/28/18] It's been 2 months since the first treatment, and I just had the 6th one. Mr. Kelly has been treating a variety of muscle problems mainly caused by atheletic activities I practice regularly. Temporary and minor issues such as muscle cramps, pains, tightness, are usually resolved in just one treatment. The chronic and more severe ones are under control. His needles work really well with my tough muscles that don't respond to pain/anti-inflammatory meds and massage (including acupressure). Today I had a treatment for my hives (hypersensitivity). Mr. Kelly is certainly a very experienced, knowledgeable and skilled acupuncturist, and I am very happy to have found him. _________ [1/2018] Just had Acupuncture & Guasha session #2. My neck injury from a bike accident that I suffered over 2 week healed completely in just 1 session. Pain is 100% gone. My neck has regained a full range of motion which it didn't achieve for a long time even before the accident. Now I have my old lower-back injury seen again. We then will move on to work on my thigh muscles & hip joint problems which my old acupuncturist could not do due to my move. Mr. Kelly Welch is REALLY GOOD. His needles hit exactly where the problems are, unlocking stiffened muscle fibers, releasing the tension in the area, allowing the muscles to relax, and promoting the blood flow to achieve the normal circulation so that body can work on its own, adjust and heal. I am a big of acupuncture and have been to an exceptional practitioner, Mr. Wakisaka, for 1 year while in Japan. I can tell when the needle just hit the target and when it missed. I can tell when muscles respond. This is how you know the practitioner is good. After I left Japan I was looking for another good acupuncturist to continue the treatment. I did Google search for acupuncture practices nearby, and there were a few. I checked each one of their websites carefully before I picked one. After 2 sessions, I am sold. I can trust Mr. Kelly and have him take over what is left by Mr. Wakisaka. I'm looking forward to more sessions by Mr. Kelly. ---------------------------

His extensive knowledge and treatment experience have helped me on a range of physical and energetic levels, including back pain, stress, surgery recovery, and migraines. Kelly's approach is fundamentally holistic, plus supported by chinese herbal medicine to promote overall well being. He is a dedicated practitioner both inside and outside his practice. You are in excellent hands under Kelly's expert care.
Stork Childbirth Education: We refer to Kellly + team on a regular basis. He is compassionate, knowledgeable and his outcomes for pregnancy are best in the city. Highly recommend for cycle regulation, fertility treatments and breech babies.
Susan Gilbert: I developed plantar fasciitis earlier this year that re-occurred too close to a planned walking trip. I’m now waiting for the plane that willtake us to our trip, in such improved condition after seeing Kelly. He saved my trip! Always excellent results. Thank you!

Belkiss Anane: Life-changing!! Joselo helped a lot with my palpitations from anxiety as well as my anxious stomach/ diaphragmic block. My palpitations literally disappeared after a couple of acupuncture sessions when I had spent months and months of experimenting with herbal medicine, meditation, and breathing exercises. I also head very tight muscles in my neck from a bad chiropractic manipulation and the Gua Sha massage released all of the tension/ the pain. I'm forever grateful!!
Adrienne Barnes: JoseLo is the best! He and all the staff I have met are wealths of knowledge and are the paradigm for holistic care. I have gone to City Acupuncture for a few different health conditions and always felt amazing afterwards.
CW Richardson: Wonderful experience! This is a community acupuncture environment. Each person signs up for a start time, an Acupuncturist will do a quiet eval, then take you to a bed (Clinic style) for your treatment. I have been here 5 times (1-2 times my last visits to DC). Payment due is on a sliding scale.
Samantha Johnson: Joselo is warm gentle soul and he knows what he is doing. He was clearly born to do this. So excited that he opened a community center to bring his skills to everyone. I went to him with a left sore shoulder that hurt so bad that I had to sleep slanted up. I also had a swollen right knee. During the second treatment he performed the skin scrapping on my shoulder and I am practically pain free with just a few spots and my range of motion is vastly improved. Most important I can sleep lying down pain free providing me with a decent night sleep. The swelling in my knee has gradually reduced and I can now fully bend my knee and walk straight. I have nothing but good things to say. Update - 01.22.2022 - Joselo continues to be a natural born acupuncturist. He is amazing.

Dave Krug: These folks are the best! I'm a repeat user of acupuncture and have been to many acupuncturists over the years. They offer excellent treatments and are always on-point. Joselo and Seth are attentive, compassionate, and easy to talk with. Their treatments have consistently rebalanced me. In one instance, I was highly stressed out and imbalanced after a surgery, sleeping poorly, and my average heart rate was around 85-90 bpm. One day after (one treatment), my heart rate fell to 75 and my sleep significantly improved; 5-7 days later, my heart rate leveled out at 60-65 and my sleep, energy, and mood were completely normalized. That's no placebo effect or coincidence. I'd highly recommend this place!! (For anyone who's new to acupuncture, keep in mind that it's only as effective as what you put into it, mainly including what share with the acupuncturist.)

Nathan Stoltzfus: Acupuncture at its best by a master who lives to help others. Joselo sets a gentle tone in a community atmosphere. Can he do something for high blood pressure? Of course. Need a cure for land sickness after being at sea? Try Joselo. I think it's better than a massage for muscle knots and sore spots. Look around at the others who are relaxing at the core, all for what each can afford.

Valerie Bauman: I really appreciate all Dr. Fan did for me. I feel strongly that acupuncture and the herbs he provided made a major difference (along with his diet and exercise recommendations, which helped me lose 7 lbs) between my first egg retrieval and the second. After my first I had zero embryos. It was heartbreaking. But I took several months to do acupuncture and get my diet straightened out and then had the retrieval that got me two genetically healthy embryos! I'm now pregnant with the girl embryo and so grateful for Dr. Fan's help. He was wonderful.
Shino Y: Dr. Shu Fan's Acupuncture Fertility Wellness Clinic is great. Easy access (close to metro station), reliable, and very relaxing. Although I became his patient for the purpose of fertility treatment, there are a lot of benefits for my overall health including the quality of my sleep, and neck & back pains. Jen Chon: I have been seeing Dr. Shu Fan for several years for overall wellness, pain management, as well as holistic / traditional Oriental treatment of my hormonal imbalance. My regular visits to Dr. Shu Fan have helped with regulating my menses (period), moods, and sleep cycle. I am glad to have finally been able to get off pharmaceuticals with his treatments & herbs. Hannah Grisham: After getting my second vaccine I had facial tingling, numbness, and severe migraines. After seeing multiple doctors and neurologists, and trying their recommendations over a course of months, I was unable to get the symptoms to lessen. That's until I starting seeing Brownyn at DC Acupuncture. I've visited Brownyn four times now and the symptoms are far less severe and frequent. Before migraines would incapacitate me, multiple times a week. Since my third session with Brownyn, they are essentially nonexistent. I am so happy with my results and look forward to continuing to see Brownyn. She has helped improve my quality of life significantly. I HIGHLY recommend her to anyone looking to address the root of issues they're facing.

I've seen several other individuals for massage, acupuncture, and dry needling. But I have always gone back to Frank because he is the best. I've been seeing Frank for over four years now. Specifically, Frank has played a key role in my healing process for my shoulder and back injuries and numbness in my arms. We focus a good deal on dry needling on my neck, shoulder, and back. I find that he is the most careful and smart with dry needling. I have been to physical therapists and chiropractors who try to dry needle, and it's scary how ill equipped they were. Go see Frank. Whether you're an athlete or a stressed out profession (or like me...both!), you will walk away better in mind and body after seeing Frank.

Meaghan Charlton: After months of chronic pain follow a traumatic injury and being passed along from specialist to specialist, I finally made the decision to pursue acupuncture services. Walking into TA in the New Year is one of the best personal decisions I have ever made. It was a turning point in recognizing that my body was out of balance, but that it had the ability to heal itself with acupuncture facilitating it. After dealing with clinical western medicine doctor's offices, TA is somewhere you will want to be and look forward to going. Not only is the space's aura peaceful and bright, but the staff could not be more mindful and kind. The co-founder, Nadia, runs the clinic more smoothly than any other office I have ever visited. To date, this clinic - not a specialist or my GP - has my most complete clinical history and has helped me to address the root cause of my symptoms, compared with western practitioners that want to mask symptoms through prescriptions. First and foremost, the acupuncturists actually listen to their patients and re-evaluate their situations during consults prior to every session. No western medicine doctor has ever provided me the space to talk about my symptoms and their evolution over time. The result is that with an acupuncturist you actually feel like you are working *with* someone on your medical concerns. Although I came to the clinic looking to address specific pain presentations, I ended up addressing the root of more persistent symptoms that I previously overlooked because my GP and GYN told me they were 'normal.' Crucially, the beauty of working with an acupuncturist is their ability to recognize and adapt to your evolving symptoms and make recommendations (such as through herbal consultations) to address them in a more systematic way. In other words, the practice takes a whole body approach to address root issues, rather than masking symptoms, for long-term health. In addition to all of the progress I have seen thanks to the help of the clinic, there are times the staff have gone above and beyond and for that I could not be more grateful.

Kevin O'Scannlain: Wei Xu is very attentive to particular issues and even better at effectively addressing them.
Ellen Klene: Wei Xu is a life safer! Menopause, stress management, strained back, GI issues, seasonal allergies..... I don't know what I would do without her.
Cathy: Dr. Xu is a talented, thoughtful, and compassionate acupuncturist, whose care has made a real difference for me during the pandemic. I initially saw her for shoulder pain – which she helped alleviate significantly in two visits – and then continued on with her to successfully address other areas of concern, including perimenopausal symptoms. She tailors treatment each visit after a focused conversation and observation and will make recommendations to follow out in the world, if needed. I look forward to our sessions – they are wonderfully relaxing overall – and am happy to see my energy and focus returning (Thank you, Dr. Xu!). I’ve also benefited from her choice of Chinese herbs, personalized for me and adjusted as need. Other positives: Dr. Xu is always punctual. She is mindful of patients' schedules and privacy, takes pandemic precautions seriously, and is great with texted appointment reminders. Purely logistical - I always find street parking on Macarthur. I feel fortunate to have found Dr. Xu.

Diana L: I'm a new patient to AAM, only been there for about 6 months, but I love the experience. My first visit for Acupuncture is for my neck and shoulder pain. I have neck and shoulder pain for years, mostly because of my work habits. I have to say, after only one treatment, my neck had felt so much better!! Well, actually I still felt heavy and pain for another day, but after that, no sore spot on my back! And I haven't felt so relieved for years! The location is convenient and parking is free in the back neighborhood. The Clinic is clean and the Acupuncturist is very nice and pay attention to details. Definitely 5 star. She is also very experienced in Chinese medicine, she prescribed me some herbal extracts to take for my adult Acne, and after two weeks of taking that, my acne have been getting better too, a bonus for the visits!
Wei Pan: I have seen Dr. Xu for several months for my illness. Dr. Xu is very kind and patient. She carefully identifies the possible causes and combines acupuncture techniques and Chinese herbal medicine for my treatment. I have seen significant improvement. Plus, she uses very thin disposable needles which quelled my fears.
Ping Lu: I am writing this review on behalf of my mom due to her language capability. My mom struggled with back pain issue for the past 6 months. She was referred to Dr. Xu Wei by a former patient for a consultation. We met with her and after a comprehensive exam and discussion she recommended Acupuncture along with some Chinese Herbal Medicine. We could have made a luckier choice. After 6-8 visits, my Mom’s pain drastically improved and she feels much better now, she is even able to work on her little garden again. Both my Mom and I strongly recommend Dr. Wei Xu. If you are looking for an acupuncturist that is patient, knowledgeable, caring, and thorough - Wei is the one.
Shuangju Lu: Very satisfied. I had lived a badly headache for years, and tried to have different kinds of treatment, but no one worked on me. Finally I gave up all western medicine. Fortunately one of my friends introduced me to Dr. Xu. After a few of times treatment with acupuncture, my headache much released. I started enjoying my life again. It’s a miracle! I would like to continue my treatment with acupuncture. I highly recommend Dr.Xu to anyone who is suffering from chronic pains such as headache, back pain, etc. to get the best treatment.

Patrick Coleman: Very bizarre experience. Scheduled an appointment online several days in advance. Was familiar with the building but could not locate the suite. Literally searched for 20 minutes and couldn’t locate it. Attempted to both call and text the number on the website for help but got no response. I finally located the office which we not marked by a office number but the lights were off (hence why I couldn’t locate it) in both the hallway that lead to it and in the office itself. There was days worth of mail laying on the ground both on the outside of the office and under the door almost as if it had been and abandoned. Still have had absolutely no follow up by way of email or phone about what happened. Very strange. Not going back

Nina Elliot: Artin is a fantastic acupuncturist. I have never met someone so attentive, so caring, so through with his treatments. Even the questions he asked me revealed that his treatments are more targeted and more comprehensive than I could have ever expected. I went to him during an extremely stressful time in my life-I wasn't sleeping well, I would frequently experience mild panic attacks and feelings of anxiety-like I couldn't get a deep enough breath.
