the DINER: what do users think?

Catherine Ekman: French toast has chicken served right on top Of it. Mushy and lack of flavor in French toast. Chicken is tender but also flat flavor. Onion rings are burnt and lack flavor. Looks like the kind you buy frozen and fry. Soda machine broken. Milkshake was delightful, sweet and creamy! All of the tables are peeling finish on wood tops. The bench seat upholstery is cracked and peeling. All the vents in the top of the dining room are fuzzy with dusty ick. The waitress and host are very nice. Too bad the food isn’t as stellar as it could be, such a good trendy location and updated historic location.
Response: Hi Cathrine! I'm sorry to hear you were dissatisfied with your meal. We are always working to improve our menus, and new items are added regularly. I hope you'll give us another try in the future!

Regina Hogan: Willy at The Diner was so awesome! Excellent customer service. The fish tacos and cherry blossom shake were amazing! Got a table outside in the shade. Very satisfied, will definitely be back!
Response: Thank you so much, Regina :-). Glad to hear you enjoyed everything!

Greg Page: I'm a professional hitman and a hearty, nutritious meal is an important part of my regimen. Right up there with cleaning my gun. Anyway, I always stop by The Diner for some good eats and some friendly banter with my fellow hitmen colleagues. Great crowd; nobody likes hanging around with a bunch of stiffs. I always order the Monte Cristo, because who doesn't love a ham and cheese sandwich on French Toast? Yum. Anyway, the waitstaff is great and I love the old style booths. Lots of privacy, which is important in my line of work. 👍

Megan Bennett: Went to this place while visiting DC with my boyfriend. The food was amazing and the service was even better! Our waitress (wish I could remember her name) was awesome and very accommodating. Will definitely visit again when I’m in DC!

Pandora White: It was amazing. I went at a crowded time on a Saturday. I managed to snag a seat at the bar. The portions are nice. The price is amazing. The service fast. I recommend this.

Fernando Martinez: One of my go to spots when I'm hungry. It's smack dab in the middle of #AdamsMorgan which is a area in Washington DC where you can find all types of great food. This area is known for its international mixture which is awesome in so many ways.
Response: Thanks, Fernando!

Des KF: On the way into DC my boyfriend and I wanted to stop at this spot for lunch. When we arrived it took a little time to find parking. When we walked in they told us we can sit anywhere. Emmanuel was our server and he was good. We started with cocktails and I got the Bonecrusher and it was tasty. For my meal I got the chicken sandwich and it was so good! The aoli was very tasty that they added. My boyfriend got the Diner Royale and he enjoyed his meal. The bill came to about $52. We enjoyed and would return.
Response: Thanks, Des!

Levnon: Not a bad place to grab a bite. They got a good selection for breakfast/brunch/lunch. Quality is good, and so is the service.
Response: Thanks, Levnon!

Paula Ramirez: This place never disappoints me! The food is so delicious! I ordered the Ponderosa omelette and it was just perfect! We ordered the migas and wow so delicious! We also ordered a burger and it was cooked to perfection! If you want to enjoy great food at a reasonable price here in DC you def need to stop by the Diner!
Response: Thanks, Paula!

Barb O: Just terrific! Exactly what you look for in a diner… quick service, (thank you Tamika!) delicious and plentiful food at a good price, friendly staff.
Response: Thanks for your support, Barb!

18th & U Duplex Diner: what do users think?

Justin Webster: What a lovely place to stop by for a quick drink or a home cooked style dinner! Grab a Lemon Squeeze or three and a basket of tots! The bartenders/servers are great and know how to work a crowd. The food is great. The squeezes are so good you'll find yourself on the pavement outside if you're not careful! Highly recommend a visit to this lovely spot!

Jason Adams: Friendly service, the bartenders and wait staff were amazing. Food was great but the drinks were the best. Prices were very reasonable. I recommend this place to anyone.

Evie Cheatham: My very favorite bar in the city. Hosts a RPDR viewing party and has drag shows on the weekends. Service is phenomenal and there’s a very cute patio!

David Cogossi: Been a couple times during our week visit. Dinner, appetizers another time and even brunch one day all were cooked to perfection. their food is picture perfect they taste great. The staff is cute and fun and the place to self has a great atmosphere.

Darryl Schmidt: Great food, good drinks. Lots of sailors.Busy place but we were seated quickly. Staff was friendly and courteous. Grilled cheese could have used some mayo for bread that thick. All in all, a great place for a bite and a drink.

Kevin Gowen: This is a nice place. Food was good, especially the dessert. Drinks were fine. The waitstaff was superb.

paul antonio etchison: Great restaurant. First time there and it was delicious and great service.

Pam Hu: Great food and great service as usual. Will come back again for brunch!

Ceandria Davis: My wife and I absolutely love this place. They have the best restrooms ever and when you visit you will understand what I mean. The bartender Sara was soooo much fun and Luis was the Best ever. We can not wait to return!!!!!

Joe Kawly: Come have whatever burger you like HALF-PRICED every Tuesday, while enjoying playing bingo! PS: order the baked sweet potatoes

Ted's Bulletin: what do users think?

Michelle Wiciak: The food was excellent, although the corned beef hash was extremely salty. I loved the smoked salmon rangoons, and thought it was the highlight of the meal. The biscuits and gravy were also stellar too, and that dish was HUGE. I enjoyed the banana cream pie, but thought the crust was too thick. The only downside was that the place was a bit too loud music-wise and our server seemed disinterested in serving us

Alex teufel: This was the most pleasant restaurant experience I’ve ever had. I am from out of town.First off, they asked if there was any food allergies before taking orders and bringing food, and as a person with a food allergy this was super cool, and something more restaurants should do! Tiffany was a phenomenal waitress, best server I’ve ever had. Polite, and thoughtful staff, short wait, GREAT food. 10/10 recommend!!

Deana Bushell: The Strawberry lemonade was delish...the fried pickles were the perfect starter for our meal. Also had the Chicken Parmesan with a side of Brussel Sprouts with blue cheese and bacon. More than I could eat and very tasty. Great local place with a wonderful atmosphere.

Noah Vaughan: Great place. I've gone by a few times but the wait was always too long (reservations highly encouraged!) so was excited to get in there today. Had the tamarind coated wings to start and they were amazing. Lunch was steak and a Cesar salad, both really good. My only complaint is that I was only a bite or two into my appetizer when my meal and salad arrived. I finished my wings, are my salad, and the steak and fries were cold by the time I got to them. Still good, but would have been even better warm.

Sarah: Delicious entree meals and really the main sell. 5 star for food, 3 star waitress. Will definitely be back for the entree meals because the cooks know what they are doing! I was very excited for the pop tarts but filling is only within the very center of them and it would have been ten times better taste-wise if it was served warm. Service was extremely slow and our waitress did not refill our water glasses and we had to wait an extremely long time to get our bill to leave. Food (excluding dessert) and environment great, but service may need some improvement especially since it was not very busy and we still waited a long time for waitress to come back to the table to ask about dessert and then again to get the bill (1.5 hours for two people to eat).

Charlotte Meindersma (Charlotte's Law): We had a Ted’s tart, which was really good. The dough is soft shortbread cookie like. Fresh iced tea was good. And we tried the loaded tots. Outside seating is really nice. Not all servers are as friendly as we’d hoped for, the girl who helped us most was very helpful and friendly.

Michelle Owen: Fabulous eatery situated in East Market Washington DC...fabulous interior featuring art deco decor. At the back dining g area are many booths, you can even watch old movies from an old projector. The service was terrific, the food excellent and the vibe friendly and happy. The menu was great, not too big, not too small. The coffee was excellent as was my Peach Bellini. It's true...the cinnamon rolls are "as big as ya head".

Amreen Shafiuddin: seemed like a small cafe from outside but they have a indoor seating place for brunch !!! looked like a upscale place.. people were posh there !!! the room had ample sunlight and it was all lit.. the tables were big enough for 6 people to sit comfortably. Our server was sweet and friendly.. people even clicked our photos without us asking for help !!! the food was amazing.. i would give it 15/10… we ordered 5 different dishes.. none disappointed… The big mark breakfast was super filling.. avocado toast was presented well and quite filling as to was on the lighter fair.. the stand out dishes were the Country fried chicken and Grilled salmon !!! omg amazing flavours !!! soooo yummm !! definitely coming back here for eating this again !!!

Cory Schwab: Delicious breakfast! And the homemade pop tart was a nice surprise. Coffee could have been a little stronger but still tasted good!

Scott T: Great general breakfast fare. I had eggs, bacon, gluten free toast, and hash browns. She had avocado toast. Both were excellent, but that's not why you are reading this review. We came here for the homemade pop tarts and they were excellent. They would have been better warm, but because of a lawsuit, that is no longer allowed. The table next to us got the massive cinnamon roll and we decided to get one as well. (Back story, I have a mild wheat allergy which often makes my stomach hurt when I eat wheat. I didn't learn of this until 2021 and had eaten wheat all my life and thought the pain was normal. So I generally avoid wheat, but on certain occasions, will eat it and deal.) The cinnamon roll was the star of the show. It was huge, 4 adults could easily share this. From the photo, you can see my plan... work to the middle. They serve the roll without the icing/sauce and pour it on at the table. Every bite was fabulous, but the middle, oh my the middle, was insanely good. It was so warm and soft, covered in tasty goodness, by far the best roll I've ever eaten. When in DC, take a detour to one of these restaurants locations and grab a pop tart and a cinnamon roll, you won't be disappointed.

Jimmy T's Place: what do users think?

Evelyn Acevedo Ruiz: Jimmy T’s! Let’s say coming here is like going to your great grandmas to have breakfast… it is a family own business, so you will see the mother cooking your breakfast, father at the register and the sons will serve your food. The place is very antique, and I’d say need a bit of maintenance, but if you like trying traditional places, you have to come, waiting for your food is going to be long time, but is worth the wait to have that warm familiar atmosphere.

Aaron Phillips: Solid enough. Not expensive which is nice. Cool spot honestly, it's old and small and tight with a ton of character inside and out. Service is a bit slow and the food is just normal eggs, bacon, etc nothing earth shattering...but reliable.

Alejandro “ZTXH” Zamora Jr.: This little place is a great find. The food is great, has a like home feeling, and feels like a small step into how things were a while back. Friendly service, great tasting food and amazing atmosphere. This is a Cash only establishment

Rachel Cipkins: The food was so good!! Can’t go wrong with a $3 grilled cheese at 7am. Make sure you have cash

Jimmy Thren: My name is also Jimmy T, which is why we went to check it out. After two years of the pandemic, this was the community we’ve been missing so much. Kind, thoughtful and fun staff. I love how sarcastic everyone was with each other. It’s a cozy, fill you up, delicious breakfast stop. If you are a craving a place that makes you feel like your apart of the family, this is it.

Chris S: Incredible greasy spoon diner that is both completely out of place in and perfectly belonging to the neighborhood. Amidst all the money and worldly power of Capitol Hill it's an unpretentious gem that serves good food fast and reminds you that the capital belongs to all of us.

Robert Stankiewicz: Great food, great people, great atmosphere. My new go to breakfast place when I'm in DC!

Mad Mike0082: Absolutely the best breakfast place I’ve found in DC. Super affordable , cash only , food is perfect. Not for the fancy crowd for the real down home folks. Will be back every morning.

Amanda Pedraza: Best diner experience I’ve ever had. Food was amazing service was even better ! 10/10 would recommend! The woman behind the counter is god sent !

Lucien Anderson: Listen, Googlers. I know occasionally the "waiters" can be sassy, or that the waffles may not remind you of the Belgiàn Wafflé you paid 30$ for in Georgetown. It's true- but nobody's perfect!! If you are having a bad day, a trip to Jimmy T's is like a warm hug from the one you miss the most. Heart-warming coffee, crispy bacon, perfect eggs, BOMB WAFFLES, and the queen of them all, the one they call the MATERNITY. I also recommend the cheeseburger special, but only if you're really trynna ball out. I promise you will not be disappointed

Ollie's Trolley: what do users think?

Patrick Young: Outstanding food that is affordable! I loved their burger and the fries are so delicious!Seriously, if you come here you have to get the fries! I couldn’t believe how inexpensive the food was while being this close to the capital! The inside reminds you of a burger joint from better times. Do keep in mind that they only accept cash, but that also keeps in theme with the hand written signs and the nostalgic feel of the place

Mary Brown: Yep, cash only. Don't assume they have everything listed on the menu. (No crab cakes, rootbeer or bacon tonight.) Service started out not terribly friendly, but warmed up a bit by the end. We waited about 15 minutes for an order of 2 fish sandwiches, a veggie burger, 3 pops, and an order of fries. The food was very good, and a good amount, too, one fish fillet was split onto 2 buns.

Shana Cheney: Ollie himself takes your order! Not the most personable guy but he's old and probably tired of everyone's $#!@. The food is absolutely delicious! We came yesterday for the 1st time and it was so good, we came back today. The fries are probably the best I've ever had. Try it...you won't be disappointed!!

Samantha García: The Ollieburger and french fries were great! Old fashioned style, and all the place looks very retro. I'm giving it 4 stars because they only take cash, however, they have ATMs inside the place in case you didn't bring any cash with you. Highly recommended! They also have a veggie burgers.

Zoey :D: Amazing food! I had a turkey burger with just provolone and house sauce, my father had the steak and cheese sub and we shared fries. We have no complaints on food! It was delicious, they give good portions and the fries have an amazing spice. The house sauce was super good, a bit tangy, can’t get enough of it. If I’m ever back in town I will definitely suggest this! And I suggest it to you to! Only complaint is the place needs some fixing up here and there. Besides that it is a clean, cute, quiet, tasty place!

Corey Scott: There are a hundred hand written signs here, but none of them mention cash only. They also have an ATM if you're into paying an extra 5 bucks to pull cash for your meal. The food was okay. The steak and cheese sandwich was good, the fries were very good, but the burger and hot dog were not very good. Do not believe the sign that says it's their specialty, it ain't. The antiques They have out are worth a look.

Dominic LA St name: The location does not serve crab cakes any longer. The fries are shoestring fries with a five guy style seasoning. Pretty good meal but for 20$ not sure if I'll be back until the crab cakes are available.

Carmen Cather: It was very busy at the time I went but they handled it well. The cheesesteak was delicious, burger was very medium rare, jeep in mind the sign states that is how they cook it unless specifically different. Yes this is cash only, but there is and ATM. The prices are so reasonable especially for location!! Great amount of food too. 2 people could split the cheese steak and fries. I loved it.

George Soliman: Best steak and cheese in the history of United States 🇺🇸Cash onlyOld style authentic

Aaron northcutt: Food was very good. It was greasy and had large portions - just what I wanted and knew I was getting. They only accept cash, which wasn't an issue for me at all. It's a pretty cheap place too, so don't expect something super fancy. The atmosphere is unique and nostalgic. Definitely not a cookie cutter magazine restaurant type place.

Rewind: what do users think?

Ladee Jay: Ok where to start, they said you would get an experience.. it definitely was an experience a HORRIBLE one, we made a reservation and still waited 40 mins to seat. Ordering food was horrific we waited 25 to 45 minutes for this bottomless brunch food to even arrive at our table. Smh and when the food came it was cold. The food was decent but cold once arrived. we had to ask several times for our food and yet still didn't get it or we got the wrong order 3 times. This was our 1st and absolute last time coming to this place. The manager offered no discount except he offered drinks. How can you drink on an empty stomach? .. I'd prefer the food over the drinks if it had ever come. Yup we won't be back terrible service unattentive and waited entirely too long for food and service.

Alethea Smith: Food is great but space is really small. We went for brunch and was given seating with no real dining table. The French toast and wings were amazing.

Patricia Gills: Great food. Great music. Great service. 10/10 recommend.

Clarissa Martinez: This place is whatever. The food is ok but the service is very mediocre. The hosts are literally there for decoration. All they do is stand there and point at where to sit, they don’t even walk you to the table. People pay in the front and none of the hosts take care of them, the servers do. They literally stand there staring at people. I had never seen hosts as decoration. One of the hosts was cleaning our table (bc the waiter asked her too, he was busy. Otherwise she wouldn’t have moved a finger) after we waited 10 min to have it clean and we were repeatedly saying “thank you!” And she literally rolled her eyes at us and didn’t say anything. The servers are not attentive at all, and they bring you the wrong things. I asked for salt and they brought me an empty shaker ??? See pics for reference. I asked for water when I asked for the shaker and they never brought me anything. We wanted to get dessert but after this treatment, we didn’t want to give this place any more money. The quesadilla is whatever. Nothing special honestly. The chicken and waffle is good though. The chicken has a weird spice to it. The waffle is really good though. The fries are good too. We came at night and saw two fights break out outside the restaurant. This place is located in a very shady part of town. It’s probably good during the day when the clubs are closed I guess. Don’t come at night. The ambiance of the place is nice, the decor and music. It’s a shame that they have such bad service.

Soroyah B.: Chicken was a bit dry. The person that I was with ordered the sliders & she mention they was also dry. Drinks were really good though. And the decor was really cute !

kelli johnson: Rewind was ok. The service was pretty good. I had the Cap'n crunch french toast.. best I've ever had! Everything else I tried was just ok.

Tyé Grays Real Estate: Food was yummmmy!! BUT Service was subpar. Slow and unattentive. Was Double charged twice, we asked for it to be removed, one of the servers said, and I quote "we're too busy to adjust and remove items from the bill. So instead, order a drink or dessert, free of charge " let's just saw were we're beyond taken back!!

Val Sheppard: Really good food!! I had shrimp and grits, daughter had Quesadillas. Place could use some updating..decor is kinda of all over the place...but it's a cute spot. Good music. I didnt like plastic cups with my dinner though..other than that..its cool!

Mayra Galeana: The food was extremely tasty, I didn't leave anything on my plate. The staff are all spectacular and for the ladies that go in by themselves to just enjoy a good beer and meal, they got your back.

Honest Guide: Monday night date. Not crowded and great ambience. Super friendly staff and tasty food.

Lincoln's Waffle Shop: what do users think?

Chelli Smith: Chicken wings were seasoned just right with an amazing crunch. The waffles were soft without being soggy and they were so good. By the time I looked up my teen had inhaled her French toast so I didn’t get to taste those, but when I asked her rating scale of 1-5 I could barely get the words out before she said 5. This place is the perfect hole in the wall/mom-n-pop type spot that lets you know the food will be good. We will be back!

Claire Mizutani: Stopped by for breakfast with my brother. We were seated at the counter and served pretty quickly. The chicken wings were very crispy and the grits had a wonderful consistency. My brother said the eggs were cooked exactly as he asked and was happy the waffle wasn’t too sweet.

Italia Capone: Small little spot directly across the street from Ford's Theater. Busy Sunday morning and the place was packed with tourist and locals. Unfortunately, they didn't have enough help to bus tables, seat people and take orders. There seemed to be some dissension in the ranks as two of the employees seemed to be arguing this fact (in a language I didn't recognize) while we were waiting to be seated. Food was good and was cooked exactly as we had ordered it. I had to keep asking for refills of coffee and we had to wait quite a while for our order to arrive. Next time I'm in DC, I may stop in during the week. Hopefully, it won't be as chaotic.

* dnainsb: This is a small old time diner type of restaurant. It serves mainly breakfast and has a lot of variety. The price point on the food is good. Be careful if you go and try and find the bathroom you must go down some rickety steps to the basement where there's an old bar that's unused very fascinating. It's located across the street from the Ford theater and down the street from the house where Lincoln died.

la Au: Some of the best breakfast food i have tasted. Service is good and the food qaulity is great. Staff is upbeat and friendly. I had the blueberry pancakes with grits eggs and corn beef hash. The blueberries were so fresh and the egas were so pight and fluffy. The food is delicious. Im writing this review while im sitting here eating. Had too.. it's just that good

Elizabeth Wong: I will always love this place. It brings back childhood memories of my grandpa's restaurant. The old man who runs this place is grumpy but well meaning. People who get upset because you can't read a sign and wait patiently, be prepared you will be told to close the door! The food is unpretentious, delicious and simple. There isn't any other place that you can get food like this in a mile radius. History is this place and the food is timeless.

Rob Riggs: Let's call it what it is, a novelty diner due to the name. The service is super friendly, We ate at the bar and they were always checking on us. The food came out fast also. Everything was cooked as we requested, it was just extremely bland. Even the chicken wings, no real flavor to them. The best thing we tried was the bacon, egg and cheese sandwich. It's fun, cause it's got Lincoln's name in it, but there's way too many breakfast options for us to return unfortunately.

Michael Rusk: What a great find in downtown DC. The wait was about 15 minutes but well worth it. The host was such a character and kept us entertained. The food was fresh, hot, and delicious. I had a sausage, egg, and cheese sandwich on a bagel. My wife had a waffle and sausage side. Coffee was brewed fresh. Warning — on the day we were there, 3/26/22, their credit card machine was out of order and they were only accepting cash. The ATM around the corner was broken also! Plan on $15 per person unless you’re really hungry.

Anne Gotimer: Easy to go option. Visited around 6:45am on a Saturday. No line, quick friendly service, and hit the spot. Eggs in my sandwich were still a little runny which was perfect with the toast of the bread. I know some people mentioned that it's a little expensive for the quantity but let's be real, everything will be more expensive in DC. This spot has heart and good food. I will definitely come back.

Travielle Keith: I can't believe this place has 4.3 star, I guess it's because of their efficiency that's the only thing admirable about this place. I got a waffle two scrambled eggs and turkey. There was corn beef hash in my eggs eww. The waffle was okay. Turkey bacon wasn't edible. I guess this is a tourist attraction this was my first and last time eating here. Not worth the wait or poor dining experience.

Florida Avenue Grill: what do users think?

Brandon Barnett: A beautiful and delicious meal to satisfy a soul food craving. I was a bit shocked when the prices at the grill were way higher than the online menu, but once I got past the shock of being told my total was more than a few dollars higher than I expected and saw the food/thought about supporting a local institution I didn’t really mind. Just look at this photo! You can practically see the crunch and satisfaction.

B Davis: I love FL Ave Grill. Their breakfast is absolutely amazing and the portion sizes fill you up! Wish they were open more than 3 days a weekP.S. best home style fried potatoes

cas rx: The only worker in the establishment us very ghetto and rude. She told me customer is not always right and refused to take my order after already getting my first I ordered I paid for wrong. She was very irritable and agitated with very bad energy. I use to love to come to the Grill until now they don’t have good workers.

Wali Davis: The service by far was short from amazing. It was very nice to see the photos of past guests and take in the nostalgic feeling the building offered. The menu offered a meatless option that was very good.

Brandon Ly: I would argue this is the best breakfast restaurant in DC. Homey, delicious food. Other restaurants with high ratings may be larger and fancier, but this no frills diner style restaurant serves fantastic food at a great price. Can’t go wrong coming here. Each meal was $11.95 (two meals in the attached photos). EDIT: We came back a second time to enjoy the wonderful breakfast (served all day) the last day of the trip. Take time to read the history hanging on the walls (literally).

Cami Erslev: Great spot for breakfast. Biscuits and gravy were really good, and the half-smoke was the best we've had! Everyone there is super friendly and although it's super busy they have a way to make sure you're taken care of and have everything you need. Will be returning to try their lunch for sure.

Eric Parker: Best breakfast spot hands down, I frequent This restaurant because the food is great and service is awesome. I have no complaints at all, it’s rich with history and community. One of the last real mom & pop shops left....

Harriet M: A fantastic diner experience. Visited for brunch on Saturday and the place was buzzing. Restaurant itself a little chaotic, hard to know what was happening. But once we were seated, coffees and menus came quickly. Can recommend the 3 egg omelette.

Domeisha Roberts: I am Mad at myself for living in the DMV for 6 years and never visiting here. Honestly, I did not even know about it until I saw it on the travel channel. That is disappointing that no one talks about this place that has soo much history! Location- Small diner, but you can really tell it is full history. signed photos from all types of celebrities and history from people of color in there. they had the front door open because it was hot in there. few gnats flying around but nothing major. they have outside seating but there are only 2 tables and they are full. Food: My favorite part... Ahhh. The food was amazing all the way around. I am a southern girl and I am not easily pleased, but I promise that someone's grandmother cooked this food. This was the first time I had grits and did not have to add anything to them. The catfish was perfectly seasoned and fried crispy. The homefries (potatoes) were already seasoned with green peppers and onions, the sweet tea and lemonade mix did not give you a sugar rush. The eggs....oh the eggs, cheese was actually cooked into the eggs and not placed on top. Payment- I wanted this place to be cash only soo bad. lol but they do accept cards. I feel like when a place only accepts cash, they know that their food is so good you will be forced to go to the ATM. lol Server- I felt like home, i didnt catch his name, but he was a young guy very straight forward. not too much conversation but he was very attentive and delivered exceptionally well. overall this place gets 5 stars and I will definitely take everyone here.

Lani: The food was good. AC was freezing in the diner, so I sat outside. I got splinter from the table since it wasn’t finished/polished. It was a slight wait but it was worth it. It’s a historic diner and the other patrons were friendly. Would go again.

Juke Box Diner - Annandale: what do users think?

Mory M: Normally have a great time and order the egg n burger but yesterday I ordered the 12 chicken wing platter and when it arrived there was noticeably not 12. Told the waitress lady that and she said it had changed to 8. So then we counted the wings and there were only 6. After finding this out, 2 more were ordered to make the order 8. But cmon, had I not said anything, 100% would not have been fixed and would’ve still paid the full price. The wings themselves also were not even warm. They were dry and and flavorless. Felt like they were just reheated and had Buffalo sauce dumped on them. Half of fries were also soaked in the Buffalo sauce and had become soggy. Including a picture.

Colin Raymond: Great classic diner with a very comprehensive menu. The food was decent (I got the gyro) and the staff was very nice. Definitely would come back.

JP: GREAT classic diner with a classic diner menu, atmosphere, and great staff. NOT like that other place that LOOKS like a diner and then has a pricey, big name chef organic frou-frou stuff. Here you get classic fare at reasonable cost, and everything cooked to order. Staff here couldn't be friendlier. Overall, a great experience.

Kay Michellen: Not impressed. I ordered from doordash and got the “fried”chicken sandwich and Mac and cheese. The chicken was 2 soggy chicken tenders that tastes exactly like school lunch or worse. The Mac and cheese smelled soooo bad and was tasteless.

bookiedaboss: Food was good but nothing out this world.

godisgoodallthetime: My girlfriend and I ordered a breakfast delivery through door dash. The order was completely wrong. We ordered french toast, corned beef hash, eggs and a coffee. Instead we received a tuna melt sandwich, fries and a Sprite. The wrong food was tasty. But cold (dasher issue) The receipt was correct. In the future please be aware of the orders that are placed in the bags for delivery. A suggestion; write on the foam containers what's inside w a Sharpie b4 placing in the delivery bag. I guess my former supervisor skills are kicking in. I've been a commercial driver for years since lol!

Me D: Well what do you know. We ate here years ago and disliked it. I met a friend there last week and the food was good, the service was excellent, and the place was spotless. I'll be back soon!

robert bruce: Was impressed with its cleaners, and order. Was greeted with a smile by the lady at the door. Order typical breakfast fare. Was timely, cooked right and more than I could eat.Give it 5 stars today for bfst.

Alexander Salvador: Visited JBD for a pickup order during a slow breakfast morning one day. Ordered a custom omelette as well as a Dean Martin skillet. I thought everything was mostly tasty, but I'd pass on their biscuit option in the future, as it was a bit dry and tasteless. The omelette was my preferred meal over the skillet, personally. It had a really nice flavor. Couldn't shake the notion that the sausages used in the DM skillet seemed of a lower tier ingredient compared to other breakfast sausages I've eaten elsewhere. Size wise, the portions were decent, which was a nice surprise. Probably the thing that bothered me most was their asking price for many of the menu items. It's a pricey breakfast for a diner. There are other places in the area that I think make better quality breakfast dishes for the same price or lesser price - notwithstanding, I'd still go back to JBD to explore more of their offerings. Though I didn't get the full customer service experience during my pickup order, the staff seemed attentive and friendly to all other patrons - and the individual who took my order was indeed professional and pleasant.

Dylan shrago: Food was good, atmosphere and everything, ok great, it's cute. Lower rating because of the surprises I got on my check, and then a refusal to remove some hidden costs I was not aware would be on there...the " manager " and my server kept trying to explain that it can be confusing because x,y,z on the menu. Clearly the menu needs to be more clear then.

Tastee Diner: what do users think?

Jenna DeFosse: First time here even though I grew up in the DMV! Came for breakfast on a Saturday at 10 and able to easily get a table. No wait. Service was good and the food was quality. I took my meal home as I couldn’t finish it and it made excellent leftovers. Looking forward to returning.

Dustin Singer: Man let me tell you THIS is the spot, the guy serving the food at 8am is a clean cut gentleman with a great personality. I ordered the sausage gravy and biscuits with an egg and the man cooked it perfectly. A guy made a special off menu order next to me and the guy had it out in less than 10 minutes. The food was great tasted like back hike food and that's something big coming from a southerner. This is a must visit spot.

Robert smith: Great breakfast spot! Delicious homemade food including biscuits! Quick, personable attentive staff. Enjoy the local gossip at the counter or just watch the owner who cooks everything himself while he barks back the orders from the waitress in confirmation-all while chatting with regulars. We will be back.

juan morales: Tastee diner offers the original neighborhood diner experience in the city. If you are a long time comer or a new face in town, Beth will greet you and strike a conversation. Make you feel welcomed and part of the diner family. I love this place because it doesn't try to compete with other brunch places, it's original and authentic. You get exactly what you want. Love the steak and eggs with the potatoes. Great breakfast and the conversation is just even better. Come more often, you'll get greeted by your name. Definitely love that experience.

Randall Wokas: The best greasy spoon in Bethesda! Don't expect gourmet fare here, but do expect super scrambled eggs, with ketchup if you like, yummy bacon not dried out like some places, and home fries with onions that will stay with you all day long. That's my usual breakfast order, about once a month. Try it, you'll like it

Nora Goldsmith: This place is a Bethesda staple! I just graduated B-CC high school nearby, and I’ll never forget walking over here after football games to chat with friends over some delicious chicken tenders, pancakes, milkshakes, etc. Even stopping by for a quick breakfast before exams always hit the spot. The staff are so lovely and always make you feel at home when you’re there, and the diner itself is so cozy and fun :)

Kevan Fitzhugh: This diner has a family feel. A lot of regulars come here to eat. The employees seem to know people by name but are welcoming to new customers. The food I've had is very good. I've only been for breakfast.

Jed Donaldson: Wednesday special: chicken fried steak and fries. Two words: Lights Out.Outstanding service and hospitality, clean and well kept, food served rapidly, and Greg works the grille like Mozart did the ivories.

Chuck Hamman: This place is the most fun when busy. A dozen different conversations going on, waitresses buzzing around, dishes clanking. Just how one of these diners is supposed to be. Oh, and the service and food are great. I wish we had a Tastee Diner in my hometown.

moshix: Very good service. Good food. Fast in and out. There is parking in the area. Must visit.

Old Ebbitt Grill: what do users think?

Natalia Mednikov: There are straightforward American-style food. This restaurant is best known for its huge old-school oyster bar—think lots of dark wood, brass fixtures, and big mirrors. That oysters was fantastic and fresh. We’ve enjoyed also cheese sampler, fried calamari and baked oysters. Everything they do is absolutely delicious. The service was very fast and friendly. We were happy to choose this great restaurant to end our busy day in Washington, D.C.

Tiberiu Hrihorciuc: Loved the experience! Tasted a dozen oysters and each one was more delicious than the other. Wine is very fairly priced. Saw it more expensive in some New York wine discount stores. The fish was such a huge portion when they split it in two plates we told them that we did not order 2 plates but to our surprise that was a full plate. If you get a chance to go to happy hours for oysters don't hesitate!
Response: Thank you, Tiberiu!

Aditya Karandikar: Had an awesome time here as a late night/ early next day stop. The food was quite nice and fairly refined, especially at such a late hour! The atmosphere was popping as well which made it more enjoyable. Service was very friendly and they had great oysters. Fresh complimentary bread never hurts either…

Sam M: This place is one of the more famous restaurants in DC. I visited this spot during brunch and it was packed. I would definitely recommend making a reservation for both weekend dinner and brunch services. I started with New England clam chowder and some salad dish. For entrees, I got eggs benedict and catfish. All the dishes I ordered were pretty good. But, I definitely enjoyed their desserts more even though I was pretty full before it. Their key lime pie and salted caramel bread pudding were both amazing! Staffs were very accommodating and attentive during the whole service. I’m planning to visit this restaurant and will get some oysters and burgers next time. I heard they are pretty good. I definitely recommend this place to celebrate any special occasions.

Suzi Figueroa: Wow, wow and wow! A friend recommended this establishment to me when I asked for dining recommendations for my upcoming DC trip. I am so glad I listened. The warm and inviting ambiance matched the service. And the food? Oh my goodness. Delicious. My SO ordered meatloaf. Who knew meatloaf could take on a such an extraordinary presentation.
Response: Suzi, Thank you for visiting Old Ebbitt Grill and leaving a great review! We're happy to hear that you enjoyed your experience and we hope to have you back again the next time you're in town.

Mary H: What a DC institution. I've been here numerous times taking "out of town" guests but always failed to write a review... This place is busy and crowded... so make a reservation. Service is attentive and friendly. Try to get a seat in the atrium, much nicer and brighter. *turkey club-generous portions of turkey. It was good and the fries were nice and hot. *salad greens- tasty, I wanted something light. *calamari-nice and crispy. They have a good selection on their menu, we just weren't that hungry. It's kinda the place to go when you visit DC.
Response: Thank you, Mary!

Amy Workman: If you're worried that this a nice place turned tourist trap that cuts corners, worry not. We had a fantastic experience and the food was superb. Our server was in his 9th year here and I wished he could've just sat and talked with us all night. They were wonderfully accommodating and welcoming of our kids, which you definitely can't say about a lot of places. Some places know that if the kids are happy the parents are more than happy to get another round and more dishes. And then when we're sans-kids someday, we'll definitely be back to sit at one of the beautiful bars. We had the walrus raw bar which was perfect for us never having had raw oysters. They did a little of each kind they had that night and I had no idea oysters could taste so different. We had the mussels, kids mac and cheese, and sausage pasta dish. The pasta was house made and the sauce creamy and spicy. So good. After dinner we walked it off around the White House. I've spent much more at restaurants and not gotten half as much food or nearly as good as service, so even though it was our most expensive meal in DC it was also our best value. Definitely a must-go in DC.

Elaine Viegas: AMAZING! There is no other word to describe it. Since we arrived until we paid the service was perfect. I couldn’t be more happy for their food, service and kindness on my birthdays lunch. We didn’t mention that it was my birthday but they saw on my profile and as soon as I arrived they asked to confirm and no only brought my desert with a candle and a cute chocolate happy birthday place on the top. Our server was amazing, she arrived singing happy birthday, was very classy and really surprised me. Thank you for the excellence in your service. BTW the food it’s top quality, my oysters and shrimps were fresh abs really tasteful.

Jelena M: Great food, great price, great service! The waiter we had was so nice, knowledgeable, and friendly! The calamari was very good, but watch out for the spicy peppers in it . My salad was yummy! I usually never order salads, but I am glad I did as the dressing was citrusy and refreshing! They also give warm bread and butter while you wait 😍
Response: Jelena, Thank you for stopping by Old Ebbitt Grill and leaving a great review! We're delighted to hear that you enjoyed your experience and look forward to having you back again soon!

Matthew Hanna: This was a pretty cool place to eat. It is so old but very nice inside. Lots of preserved animals I didn't expect to see like sea turtles, walrus and more. The food was great and I really liked the drinks. You can still visit and get a really good burger and fries for like $18 or you can go all out and pay $100+ for a super delicious entree. Either way the alcohol is good.

Van Dorn Diner: what do users think?

JuzJS: Tried for first time. Customer service was tops. All staff attentive not just person who seated you or server. They all seemed legit appreciative of customers. Price within range for area; not much more than my area. Menu has lot of selections. Meal came with one slice of toast so I asked for another, no issues. Nice serving size of bacon. Potatoes ok maybe need bit more seasoning. I didn't get pancakes or french toast but they looked good and large portion.

Michael Spollen: Neat, relatively-new diner sorta offsets the loss of the original Bob & Edith's in Arlington. Food is good and prepared with care. Table service can be inconsistent but never worse than "acceptable."

Raquel Briggs: Great little place for breakfast! The diner is clean and I love the color scheme. Service is wonderful and the food is tasty. We will be coming here more often now that we have found this little gem
Response: Thank you so much for your review Raquel! It's customers like you that keep us going. Hope to see you again soon!

Shannon: We always hit up this place for a delicious breakfast. It's a cute little diner. The BLT on Rye bred is my favorite!

Josh Newman: I bit into a bland, un exciting, dried cheese, cold meet breakfast burrito, to find a shocking crunch in my mouth. I thought with this mess in my mouth, how funny, that sound shouldn’t emit from a simpletons mimic of a breakfast burrito. Surely, my teeth are still there, and that sound couldn’t be my own enamel? And thus, it was egg shells. I can’t imagine what other simple simple things are being missed behind the counter and in the kitchen, if the chef can’t simply crack an egg, or notice a white egg shell amidst yellow egg. Won’t be returning.

Mallory Rascher Cogar: If you haven't visited this gem of a diner yet, you are seriously missing out. Not only does it boast super cute 50s-inspired decor and friendly staff, but the food is 100% on point. Just go ahead and consider this your new favorite spot in town - trust me, you will not be disappointed. The hardest part will be deciding what to order as everything on the menu is fresh and delicious.
Response: Thanks so much for this review Mallory! We pride ourselves in the friendly atmosphere we have tried to create along with serving food that will satisfy everyone's needs! Can't wait to see you again soon!

Brendon Urbano: Place was busy when we got there. That was a good sign. We were seated quickly and the staff was friendly. Our food took some time but it was well worth the wait. I'm sorry I was too hungry to take any pictures. I would definitely go again. If dinner style breakfast is your thing or even if it not, I would definitely recommend this place.
Response: Thank you so much for taking the time to write a review Brandon we are sorry that it took a little longer your meal, however are very pleased that you still enjoyed the food and noticed our friendly staff! We hope to see you back soon!

Vincent Meli: Coming from a diner-heavy area, I try to keep a decent overview of diners. Van Dorn is a pretty standard diner. My wife was craving their pancakes and I gave the chicken fried steak (with hash browns, scrambled eggs, and toast) a try. Snuck a bite of the pancakes, and they're good diner cakes. The kind you expect. I thought my meal was fine. Hash browns were a good mix of crispy outside and tender interior. Eggs were fine, two, beaten, fried, and rolled eggs. Not like a mixed/curd scramble. Chicken fried steak was ok. I obviously can't say for sure, but it seemed like a basic, frozen version/patty. Cooked well and not oily if it was deep fried, but nothing particularly good/bad. I'd like to try some of their other items (my usual go-tos are western omelettes or corned beef hash.)
Response: Hi Vincent, Thank you for the review! We appreciate our honest feedback because we are constantly looking at ways to improve. We hope to see you again soon!

Katherine Perez: Great customer service. The food is delicious. We had Albert and Ronald as our servers, great customer service. First restaurant that I see that has team work and are able to work together. Will be definitely be coming back. Definitely one of the best restaurants in town.

Kat Gale: Delicious breakfast; Great service. We didn't realize the hours had changed and arrived about 20 min before they closed on a Sunday. The complete staff was kind and friendly and our food was great. Highly recommend.
Response: Thank you so much for your review Kat! We hope to see you back soon, our updated hours are Sundays & Mondays until 3pm and Tuesday-Saturdays until 8pm :)

The Pembroke: what do users think?

Vy H.: Cute decor and great ambiance here. Came here for my birthday lunch with some friends—we had reservations but got stuck in traffic—they were awesome about it and we were seated right away when all of us showed up. The vibe is great here, and the decor is so pretty—picture worthy! My friend brought cupcakes for us, and had no issues having it at the table. Food was good—would recommend the Crab Chesapeake Benedict, Lobster Benedict and Pork Belly Steam Buns! The Pembroke Pancakes and Corned Beef Hash were okay, but nothing special. Our cocktails were fine as well—they have Empress Gin too, a fave of mine. Service was a bit slow—our waiter forgot 1 out of 3 cocktails so we had to ask again, and later forgot to bring out a lemonade we ordered as well (we had to remind him). And fyi, there is an automatic gratuity of 20% added onto your bill.

Jason Pitts: I enjoyed my dining experience here. I thought the burger was just ok. If you're a burger lover, don't order it. I'd try something different on my next visit. The steak, salad, and mashed potatoes were amazing and is a must-try! The service was decent as well. We had to wrangle our waiter a few times, but it was a busy Sunday brunch so it's to be expected. The parking though, is crazy. I would plan ahead to look for parking for at least 15min before arriving or paying for valet at a nearby hotel. I would patronize this restaurant in the future.
Response: Thank you for taking the time to share feedback on your recent dining experience here at The Pembroke. We're pleased to learn you enjoyed brunch, including the steak, salad and mashed potatoes. Please know we have shared your concerns with our culinary team to ensure the quality of our dishes consistently meet the high standards we have set. We appreciate your candor and thank you for your valuable feedback. Should your travels bring you back to The Pembroke, we look forward to welcoming you for another enjoyable meal. Dondré: Getting my large party reservation was more difficult than it needed to be. After it was sorted out everything else was great. The food was amazing. Way better than I thought it would be. I didn't take a picture of all the dishes but trust, the food was good. The vibes are also great all the natural lighting and decor makes this restaurant really shine.

Kay Williams: This place could be 5 stars. Made reservations early one Memorial Day Monday and was told they only had 10:30 available, so I took the spot as we wanted breakfast. Arrived at 1030 and the hostess said she would seat me in a few min. I told the manager when he came up but he had me wait while he said at least 4 tables. We didnt get sat until 10:55. Once sat we were told we would get water but that didn't come until our server came 15 min later. Once we ordered we waited an additional 30 min for our food. Our food came out warm. As well my food was missing syrup for the French toast and my God-daughter was missing her scrambled egg. It took more than 5 min to get the syrup and almost 20 to get the egg. My friends meal had a hair in it but they only comped the French toast but not the sausage. We didn't feel like fussing or waiting any longer and just paid for it and left at 1pm!!!! This was not a dinner and should not have taken 2.5 hrs for French toast and pancakes. Food: French toast with a side of chicken sausage (9/10) Pancakes with a side of chicken sausage and eggs. (7/10) This place is clearly short staffed. They need to work on FOH management. They should only take reservations and tables for the staff you have. I do not recommend going until they get more staff.

Hannah: This place is stunning, beautifully designed. Like if the food was as good as the environment this would be one of the best places in DC hands down. That being said, we came for breakfast. Our waitress Kierra was amazing! The French toast was really good & the Crab Benedict was pretty good. The breakfast sandwich was less than mediocre (not sure how it’s on the menu or how it’s not made to be something better, was literally a step above a McDonalds sausage McMuffin). Everything else was good though. The pastry was beautiful & so tasty! Will definitely come back.

Nick Totin: The Pembroke asked "how do we get 'brilliant' in the same sentence with our brunch?" They have answered the question my friends. They have sweet, they have savory, and they have elegant. One of my new favorite spots! The staff is always polite and on top of their game and I have never had a bite of food here that I didn't enjoy.

Vicky: Beautiful and classy Ambiance! Love love the dining area. This restaurant is right in the heart of D.C giving elegance and class. The food is delicious and quite affordable. The wait time for your meal can be a tad minute. I do wish the brunch menu was extensive and not limited :( overall beautiful restaurant and wonderful service.

Cara Forte: I came with my mom and daughter for brunch on a Saturday morning without a reservation and the host was very sweet and accommodating. The place is beautiful and our food and drinks were delicious. Get the bloody Mary! I would definitely come back the next time we are visiting D.C. and look forward to coming again.

Rachel L: Tried out the pembroke for a friends birthday. I didn’t realize it was in the hotel so once I realized that it was much easier to find! The restaurant itself is super cute and bright. The food was pretty good but man the service was not great. I know things are crazy now and I’m sure they were very short staffed. The food and drink is pretty pricey as well which I didn’t really feel made it worth it. I’m not sure I’d go back but definitely glad I was able to give it a try.

Aránzazu Ascunce: We couldn't believe it when we got a last minute Sunday brunch reservation during Pride weekend. Our good fortune didn't end there. The most professional hostess, Fatima, managed to find us a table for two in the most sought after area of the restaurant. Then we were greeted by a seasoned professional, Joey, as our server. The pancakes were fluffy, the hash browns were tasty, the avocado was buttery and the timing of everything was impeccable. We appreciated a true brunch menu and genuine hospitality. Keep up the great work!
Response: Dear Aránzazu, Thank you very much for taking the time to share your comments concerning your experience at The Pembroke. Excellent service is what we strive to be known for; therefore your feedback is exceedingly important as it helps us to continually improve upon our service and provides a memorable experience to our valued guests. I am delighted that you left our restaurant with pleasant memories. Our relationship with our guests is of paramount importance. We are looking forward to your next visit with us at The Pembroke. 29 Diner: what do users think?

G Hendee: Suffice it to say, the diner food is amazing! Exactly what I need every few months. The corned beef hash, eggs over easy and a side of 1 giant pancake and endless cup of coffee. I wanted the sausage and gravy but I had no room left in my tummy. I'm a Navy veteran and Michelle made me feel like a VIP (in a very respectful way). This diner is ALL about gathering with friends regardless of you politics and good food! They give back to their community and to Service members. Missing home? ... come here! #payitforward #goodfoodgoodfellowship #29DinerStopSuicide #diner #TipGenerously

Scott Goffin: Nothing like supporting a local business that gives so much back to his community and others!!! Truly a blessing to so many people... Oh, and the BBQ Pork and Beef Brisket is pretty amazing to... ;-)

Huy: Great smokey barbecue breakfast/brunch experience! Their shakes are to die for and they definitely do NOT skimp on any of their portion sizes.

kattie lin: Awesome food, super friendly waitress. We enjoyed our launch and will definitely return soon!

Shawtie Lewis: My husband & I love picking highly rated, randam diners. Very friendly, cozy restaurant. Had a huge menu. The food was plentiful & of quality. I had the double club, honey had the french toast combo. He left nothing on his plate! We will be back.

Michael “Newmie” Newman: Great family-fare BBQ, served by a classy family plus one really lovely waitress (see pic) who is too shy (angelic?) to give her name. Try the brisket (my daughter's choice) with a delish milkshake on the side. The pulled pork is utterly to die for! Breakfast choices (served all day?) are always freshly prepared and will revive your wearied soul. Owner John Wood takes pride in being a community-supporter, and his personable charitable character is apparent all throughout the diner. Sit outside under heaven on earth, just be wary of the smokers (meat smokers, lol!) and the occasional noisy traffic. Inside is another world itself, like a museum. Once you try this Fairfax institution, you will come again and again. Bring the family! 🙏✝️⚜️💛😀

Josh Casey: Fantastic experience. Top-tier service, delicious comfort food options, and great prices. Will definitely be back!

Karla Villalobos: First time here and it was a very pleasant experience. The food was delicious and generously portioned. Pancakes were fluffy and huge! The brisket was tasty and our favorite was the meatloaf. Wow, just wow! Our waitress, Sarah, was amazing, very charming, and attentive.

Will Pacheco: Great food and atmosphere. Smoked meats, sandwiches, milkshakes, and breakfast. Can't find anything more Americana. I suspect many detectives have openly discussed criminal investigations over a coffee here and many more will in the future.

Soumeya B.: If you are looking for a no-fuss, local, authentic bbq joint, then this place should be on the top of your list.

Open City: what do users think?

Deny Kostadinova: The place is very nice and pleasant, outside seating area seems a better option since inside there is no AC and only fans so it is noticeably hotter. I loved that they had oat and almond milk to substitute whole/skim for cappuccino. The hash brown is nicely cooked - crunchy and in a square. If they were to have booths inside the place I would give it a 5 star. But amazing as they have a bar inside too. Prices aren’t as expensive as other restaurants that I visited nearby. The waitress was extremely nice and talkative to us.(:
Response: Thank you, Deny! Our hash browns are definitely a fan favorite. I apologize for the struggles with our AC, and I will be sure to bring this to the attention of our facilities manager.

D L: Open City is one third of a Greek-owned Diner trilogy. All three spots are solid for good food at a fair price. Very Casual. Full Bar. No set vibe -You will see all types of people as a situations when you walk in. Always friendly service! Coffee and Tea options have a gravity all their own within the Menu; the selection is as interesting as it is diverse. I strongly recommend the Dirty Chai (I ordered mine with a shot of Vodka- why not!?). I have yet to encounter a menu item that is even remotely unpalatable. I will say Breakfast is their strong suit, especially for Dinner! :)
Response: Thanks, D L!

Jennifer Ziegenfus: I was attending a conference down the street and needed lunch before it started. I was seated at table for 1 outside under the tent. The food was great but the waiters were so overwhelmed it gave me anxiety. I almost didn't order something because they were panting from running around. I think they were short staffed or maybe the crowd was larger than expected? Either way, they did their best but it wasn't the best dining experience for me.
Response: Hi Jennifer! Thank you for taking the time to write a review. Sometimes the local conferences can lead to a bit more of a 'rush' than we typically expect for a weekday lunch service. We appreciate your patience and thoughtfulness with our staff, and I'm glad to hear you loved your meal :-). Hopefully things will be a little less hectic next time you're in town!

Numba “Numba” 1: The overall vibe was retro with the decor and the interior design. The waiters were both professional and polite with the food being absolutely delicious. I highly recommend to anyone looking to enjoy an appetizing meal.

Stephen Dobbs: We come down from Baltimore to explore DC and this is our 2nd time eating here. We made sure to come back bc the food and prices were that good. My g/f had the half of chicken with mashed potatoes and asparagus. I had the 24th street chicken sammich again.... so good and we split the sm kale salad
Response: Thank you so much for your kind review, Stephen!

Thomas Gibson: Great food and atmosphere! It’s a lively cafe, but you can easily carry on a conversation and there is enough space between the tables so you don’t feel super crowded around you. The London Fog was top notch. I also had the sausage calzone. The calzone was full of peppers, onions, and sausage and tasted great. A bed of arugula was also included with a great lemon dressing that wasn’t thick or watery and complimented the arugula very well.
Response: Thanks, Thomas!

Dab Queen Darstar: The food and service was spectacular! Even the eggs were good, and I don't like eggs. Also the water was good too lol
Response: Amazing!

Max Porter: Delicious hash brown bowl. Great vibe. Do recommend arriving early. I showed up at 0900 on a Sunday and got a seat immediately. When I left at 1000 there was already a wait of ~7 people outside.
Response: Thanks, Max!

Josh Axelrod: A sister restaurant to the AdMo fave, Tryst, Open City mostly captures the charm of its progenitor. All day brunch is a huge plus and the flatbreads and pies are a standout. A great choice for breakfast, brunch, or lunch.
Response: Thanks, Josh!

Allison F: We really liked this place! Very unique choices. Great cocktails and coffee, the chicken and waffles were generous and the bomb! Their patio wasn't open for waiting service but they gave you the option to get anything to-go if you wanted to still use it. Got a mocha milkshake after because we really enjoyed the food!
Response: Thanks, Allison!

Le Diplomate: what do users think?

Thang Phu: Highly recommended! We stopped by for a late afternoon food one day and was amazed at how fantastic the food is. It was all so good, especially their desserts. I have travelled to multiple regions in France and I can attest the food here tastes the closest to food in France. They even have a wine carafe on the menu, just like France. I wished I lived near here so I could go treat myself now and then.
Response: Thank you for such a complimentary review, Thang. We’re excited that you found our food and service to be five-star worthy. We are looking forward to welcoming you back in the near future at Le Diplomate.

mike wittenburg: Five Stars for the food and the atmosphere. Visited on a busy Saturday evening and got a table without a reservation, amazing. So much seating available. Indoor and outdoor seating. Went with a couple of friends and the drinks and food were fabulous. Tuna dish is a small serving. Trout was great and the muscles were awesome. Apple dessert and vanilla creme brulee delicious. Definitely a popular spot. And the bread... So much bread... Good variety of bread to choose from. Enjoy!
Response: mike, we’re pleased to know you had a great experience at Le Diplomate. We look forward to hosting you again soon. Feel free to follow us @lediplomatedc to keep in touch on Instagram!

Cindy Yang: Service: 3/5 Food: 4/5 Got a reservation and got seated immediately. We were running late and was trying to call but they don't answer phone calls. Fortunately our table was kept with a grace period. Recommend warm shrimp salad (the shrimp is very fresh), steak, escargot, and the duck. French onion soup is a must. We also ordered fries with added truffle but the truffle is flavorless so strongly recommend against adding it the entree.
Response: Thank you so much for the feedback, Cindy. We are always looking to improve and greatly appreciate the 4-stars. We hope we can earn that extra star on your next visit!

Daae Katsicoyannis: The meal was incredible. I recommend going with friends and sharing everything. The service was also impeccable. You can tell that all ingredients at this restaurant are fresh and of excellent quality. It’s rare to find such an approachable restaurant of this league. I would recommend to anyone.
Response: Daae, we’re pleased to know you had a great experience at Le Diplomate. We look forward to hosting you again soon. Feel free to follow us @lediplomatedc to keep in touch on Instagram!

brian perkins: Loved this place for a few reasons. Let’s start with the bread. Why can’t all restaurants serve great, fresh, delicious bread? Because it’s not easy. I pictured the empty escargot plate because after dipping the bread in the garlic sauce it was game over. Add onion soup, superb steak frites, profiteroles to die for and you have a neighborhood gem. Not to mention the wait staff gives treats to dogs being walked by the restaurants. How great is that?!
Response: Thank you for such a complimentary review, brian. We’re excited that you found our food and service to be five-star worthy. We are looking forward to welcoming you back in the near future at Le Diplomate.

Rob: The food and ambiance are always great. However, on multiple occasions, I’ve felt that the service is not what you’d expect from a restaurant of this caliber. Last time I felt a bit rushed and the service, while attentive, was curt. When our entrees arrived, a waiter couldn’t fully reach to place my friend’s plate in front of him. Rather then walk around the table (there was space), the waiter placed it on the table and gave the plate a quick flick of the wrist to push it over. It’s a small example but I think captures a similar sentiment seen in other reviews about the service.
Response: Rob, we're happy to know you had a positive experience at Le Diplomate and appreciate your feedback on how we can improve. Hopefully, we have another opportunity to serve you in the future so we can earn that last star!

Karissa Warren: Had an awesome food experience on New Years! Was a little disappointed they didn’t have their usual pastry assortment but every single item we got was delicious!! We really came for the pastries and croissants but were blown away by the food! If you want an authentic French croissant, they’ve got you covered! We will definitely be back!
Response: Karissa, 5-star experiences are what we strive for day in and day out here at Le Diplomate. Thank you for the great feedback and we'll hopefully see you again soon!

Dee Ketterman: We’ve eaten here twice and love the food and decor. The feel of the restaurant more resembles an upscale bar with delicious food, as most people are standing and drinking rather than eating. I’d like to try sitting at the bar because I think it’d be a better experience to fit the atmosphere over a low table with people standing all around. The mushroom tart is fantastic and the French onion soup is the best I’ve ever had! The service was dressed appropriately but less attentive than expected, most likely because of how busy it seems to get. Regardless, I really like the food and hope to visit again soon.
Response: Thank you for taking the time to share feedback on your recent visit to Le Diplomate, Dee. Our staff works incredibly hard to ensure our guests have the best dining experience. We hope to see you back very soon and to earn that extra star!

Heivi Herne: They call themselves a Spanish restaurant. The interior is nice. Restaurant is spacious. There are different rooms with tables. There are also tables to sit outside. The service wasn't not very fast. I ordered one cocktail. It wasn't very good. The funny thing was that they brought bread, bread and margarine as a snack. I have been to Spain a lot of times and eaten there. There is no such snack there. I think that this place is overpriced

Bibiana Oe: Very cute upscale dining experience! The waiter had many recommendations that were appealing. The bread with the butter is amazing! Ordered assorted oysters, mushroom tart, beef bourguignon, mussels and frites, and the profiteroles. Loved everything and it was good portions! Recommend for a lovely cozy dining in experience since the bar and inside of the restaurant is super unique!
Response: We're happy to know you had a positive experience at Le Diplomate and appreciate your feedback on how we can improve. Hopefully, we have another opportunity to serve you in the future so we can earn that last star!

Lauren Sweet: The service was great and food came out quick. We ordered the red, white, and blue french toast, meatless taco bowl, and the shrimp and watermelon salad. Everything was very fresh and delicious!
Response: Lauren, thanks for your review. We appreciate your feedback. We look forward to serving you again soon!

Emily Zhu: Classic diner atmosphere with healthier, cleaner, fresher food! Had the Bay Benedict, which came with crab cake and fresh fruit. Boyfriend had Philly cheesesteak omelet, and we shared pancakes with real syrup. All perfect. Tea came in a huge mug with real honey on the side. Great service. Felt good and not heavy/greasy afterward. Operational jukebox machines at each table
Response: Emily, thanks for your review, we appreciate your feedback. We look forward to serving you again soon!

Madeline Chevry: Our Server Destiny was so personable, knowledgeable about the menu and accommodating with our order. She was attentive and provided great customer service. Thank you Destiny!
Response: Madeline, thanks for your review. We appreciate your feedback. We look forward to serving you again soon!

Larry “Big Schlim” Mcleod: Have you been here before? They are located all over the DC area!! With their 50’s Diner styled spots, this place stays busy! This was an impromptu visit. Tired of Holiday breakfast & dinner, my family decided to hit up this spot. I decided to review it. . Where I am: @silver_diner . Location Reviewed: 6040 Greenbelt Rd., Greenbelt M.D. . Menu Includes; All day breakfast, omelettes, pancakes, French toast, sausage, bacon, eggs, veggie/ vegan options, burgers, sliders, chicken sandwiches, soups & salads, appetizers like wings, tenders & meatless tacos, dinners like meatloaf, shrimp scampi, pot pies, and ribs, shakes, cakes, brownies, and craft drinks. . Their Lumberjack Breakfast (with 3 pancakes, fried potatoes, a fried egg with cheese, link sausage, & bacon $15.99). Pancakes-STAMP, Fried Potatoes-STAMP, Fried egg-DELICIOUS, the Sausage-DECENT (undercooked), the Bacon-DECENT (too fatty). Next was their Bleu cheeseburger (with fries, crispy onions, bacon, lto, pickles & red onions $15.99). DECENT. It could’ve used a tad bit more sauce. The DECENT fries tasted like whatever else was in the freezer. . Customer Service: Attentive, Quick, & Friendly. . Online Navigation: Easy . Parking: Plentiful, but normally packed . Recommendations: Get ANY breakfast with the Pancakes!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️=STAMP ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️=DELICIOUS ⭐️⭐️⭐️=DECENT ⭐️⭐️=PASS ⭐️=NAH #Bigschlimsreviews

Jamie Pope: I visited this place a few days ago. I would definitely say don’t judge this book by its cover. On the surface, it looks like a regular diner; however I was wowed by the menu options. The presentation was great and the food was delicious 😋.
Response: Jamie, Thanks for your review, we appreciate your feedback. We look forward to serving you again soon.

Fatima Bello: My first time trying silver diner, I’d say it was a lovely experience. The atmosphere was nice (I went on a Saturday evening) and the manager I believe his name was Greg, provided exceptional customer service. Since it was my first time there, I wasn’t familiar with a lot of the food items but Greg was great at recommending good choices. I had the cauliflower sandwich and sweet potato fries as my entree, and the Buffalo wings with cheese fries as my appetizer. All of it was delicious and it was so many items to choose from! I’ll definitely be returning back in the near future.
Response: Fatima, thanks for your review. We appreciate your feedback. We look forward to serving you again soon!

Judy Brown: Really unique stop on a road trip. Lots of vegetarian options and great southern specialties. Loved the old feel diner decor. I had crab cake mini entree as I was in Maryland and wanted something traditional. Very good quality and sides were delicious. Companion had she crab soup and succotash and enjoyed it very much.
Response: Judy, thanks for your review. We appreciate your feedback. We look forward to serving you again soon!

Steven Harrah: I revisited the 50s & 60s (and my youth) with my recent breakfast @ Sliver Diner. Breakfast was quick and tasty. The staff fun and helpful. It was a little too early for the table top jukebox but it would have perfect at lunch. All wanted to try their shakes but it was breakfast - so I just had a coffee with my meal. I hope to get back there soon to try their lunch menu - lots of American Classics.
Response: Steven, thanks for your review. We appreciate your feedback. We look forward to serving you again soon!

Shaira Reyes: food was delicious! great service as well. this will definitely be one of my to go spots

L Rey: There was a bit of a wait between getting seated, ordering, etc..But I can honestly say the food is definitely worth it! The food was delicious! They also have many vegan and vegetarian options on the menu. I have an egg intolerance which has put a damper on my options as far as dining out for breakfast. Luckily for me they offer "just egg" as a substitute! I'm glad that I have finally found a decent breakfast spot with food I can actually enjoy!
Response: Thanks for your review. We appreciate your feedback. We look forward to serving you again soon!

Old Europe: what do users think?

Ryan Arnt: I found this place about 20 years ago. I love german food and drinks and they do a very good job. The Hunter's Schnitzel, sausage plate, red cabbage cucumber salad are all great. Kind of a hole in the wall place but I always enjoy eating here on every trip to DC.

WABBA: A good around tasty menu, with well cooked traditional meals including Pork or Chicken Snitzel. Fair priced drinks 🍸 adds to the enjoyable experience. A good dinner choice 1 night whilst you're here in Washington DC.

Vasyl Zhepikov: Hands down the best german food in US. 🇩🇪 It is not cheap imitation , but really good authentic food. Hand made sauercraft. 🤤 On pics: Sausage combo with authentic mustard. Baked brie with jam and fruits. And of course German beer. The interior is the most pleasing to say the least.

Landis Rojas: My first time here! I felt very comfortable. Also I forgot to take food pictures because the german food it was super tasty! The service is super good and attentive. Yo need a reservation in this restaurant and you really feel in s German restaurant! I really Recommend it!

Devin Nguyen: I enjoy Old Europe restaurant for its service, antique atmosphere, and certified-authentic German food! As someone who has visited Germany and Austria, I can confirm that the food is cooked according to traditional German flavors and preparation. The images I have included illustrate the restaurant’s quality and art of German culture and cuisine. My experience at this family-owned business makes me feel as if I entered a time capsule into history.

Mohan Sun: This is one of the best German restaurants in town - excellent food, great beers, and friendly owner and staff. Back before Covid, there was this old gentlemen in suspenders that would always play piano on weekends. That’s always one of my fondest memories. I had my birthday celebrations there a couple of times and they were always a blast. This restaurant veteran opened its doors in 1948 serving local customers, so please come and support them! Plus, you really can’t go wrong with a schnitzel and boot of beer!

K K: Wow! Why haven't I been going here every week? Great food, elevated flavors, friendly service, nice German beer list, bus boy that plays showtimes on the piano...c'mon you can't find this anywhere else in DC! Treated me like a king for Father's day. Wish they had a patio... but that is minor. What a hidden secret.
Response: Hi K K, thank you for your review. So glad you enjoyed your dinner with us. Please come back and visit us soon!

Sam Chin: A long time local business with good authentic food and warm atmosphere. Amazing steins, cuckoo clock, and crests. They actually speak German and are good people. Support local!!

Darren H: I have been going to this place for about 18 years and love it. The desserts have recently gotten better. I always complained that the Sacher Torte was a tad dry, but this no longer seems to be the case. The appetizers, beer, and dinner are all so good that I have a hard time ordering sometimes.

Rinat Hadashi: We ate dinner: April treat, potato pancakes and schnitzel. Beverage and wine. Paid 92$.The food was tasty and very beautifully placed on the plate. The service was super nice and helpful.Recommended!

Silver Diner: what do users think?

Faisal H.: Why don’t they have locations around the country?! Maybe that is a good thing- they maintain good quality and service. Really nice diner! Good quality food, you can tell they use fresh and quality ingredients. Customer service above par, every single visit I experienced happy hosts and hostesses with a simple and friendly demeanor. They have variety of items on their menu for any mood or any taste…will definitely be back. Oh did I say, their coffee is great (although overpriced!)
Response: Faisal, thanks for your review. We appreciate your feedback. We look forward to serving you again soon!

Empress Q: Add 5 more stars and make it a 10! Amazing Flexitarian menu with great variety. Food was delicious! This will definitely be a weekly spot going forward.
Response: Empress, thanks for your review. We appreciate your feedback. We look forward to serving you again soon!

Cary Michael: From the eclectic, multifaceted menu with flexitarian options to the welcoming, unrefined and cozy ambiance - this Silver Diner location is by far one of my absolute favorite dining places in the area that I can't seem to frequent enough! Every time I visit this location, I get to stimulate my taste buds with something new, as they have a plethora of menu options that would accommodate the carnivorous meat-lovers, sea animal lovers and vegetarians alike! While the customer service experience is typically super exceptional, Sequoia was my server during my most recent visit, who was very informative, provided the best food and drink recommendations, and was SPOT ON with drink refills and table check-ins. If you're looking for a restaurant with a homey feel, southern flair and with good food that warms the heart and feeds the soul, do your taste buds a favor and visit the Silver Diner location in Lanham, MD! You will NOT be disappointed!

Abouzar Kaboudian: The food was really good. The shrimp scampi had all the fresh ingredients and felt really light. We also had the triple pickled chicken sandwich which looked and tasted really good. The service was a bit slow given that it was a Saturday.

Harvey Owen: One of my favorite things on this planet is a good diner with excellent breakfast. One of the things I can’t stand the most is horrible service. This experience tonight was the epitome of horrible service and if I was the owner, I’d be embarrassed. The place is dead, 10 tables with people at them tops. However, it’s a huge staff on duty, I’ve counted 12 different workers out front and I haven’t accounted for anyone in the back. Three servers rolling silverware. Two on their phone. One flirting with a guy at the counter since I’ve been here. Took 10 minutes to get seated and only after I asked if I could seat myself. This wasn’t because it was busy, it definitely wasn’t busy. No one but me waiting for a seat. It was due to no hostess at the front, they had to go find her. The plethora of staff just stare at you rather than provide good service. 25 minutes later I finally got a server to come take my drink order. Didn’t get my drink for another 20 mins. They brought it with my food. Food was ok. I left home, drove 20 minutes one way, specifically to come here and get food. I ended up wasting 2 hrs of my day. I blame management 100% no one is running this ship. I’ve been to another location where it was so full of customers there was a long wait to get inside. The service was phenomenal and food was excellent. This location is the complete opposite experience.
Response: Harvey, thanks for the review. I'm sorry to hear about the service you received. Can you please contact me at communityrelations@silverdiner.com so I can assist and help with this visit. Thanks again for the feedback!

Scott Smith: The Silver Diner, this place was a bright spot on our trip to DC. We have tried a few restaurants while being down here, this place took the cake in quality, and service. I will not name the other restaurants we tried, we tried a fancy one and a couple of average priced ones. This was the only place that we left feeling good about the experience. It was so good that we came back the next evening (today). They have great burgers, great fries, and great milkshakes. Our server yesterday (a nice young woman I just forgot her name!) told us her favorites and that’s what we ate, it was as good as promised. The Oreo Shake was so refreshing, and they don’t short you, I also got my silver shake cup which was also full of milkshake. We had a nice young fellow today named Joshua. Great service, and he even made my milkshake himself because the normal shake person was not there. I’m from Ohio, and next time I’m around this area again, you can bet I will stop here. What’s great about this place is it was not overly crowded like every other place, which I didn’t understand but I was happy it wasn’t. They also have healthy choices and vegan entrees. This menu fits everyone. I highly recommend to anyone in the area!
Response: Scott, thanks for your review. We appreciate your feedback. We look forward to serving you again soon!

Prya Rich: Very disappointed with our experience tonight. Not only did it take us over 45 mins to receive drinks. Which was understandable because there was one waiter serving a large area. But my son, who has a nut allergy, received an item that didn’t indicate on the kids menu that there were nuts!!! Dangerous! Thankful he notice before consuming. This would have been a trip to the ER. I must mention that we frequent Silver Diner, especially for their Gluten Free options. We have also ordered the Gluten Free quinoa pancakes form the kids menu many time at other locations. They have never had nuts inside. My son can’t have nuts! The manager said the pancakes always have nuts. If so, that needs to be written on the kids menu as well as the full Menu. The other food was good and we weren't charged for my sons other order. Hence the two stars. Please see attachment. Edit: he can consume coconut.

Donald Huff: Great dine in experience! Friendly staff the milk shakes and food was great healthy options and food for everyone
Response: Donald, thanks for your review. We appreciate your feedback. We look forward to serving you again soon!

Cyndi Exantus: The Brewchata (I believe that's what it was called) was not at all what I was hoping for. I didn't taste the coffee and the Rumchata didn't really seem present. Was kind of over powered by the oat milk. Steak Frites was delicious! The medallions were very well flavored but the spinach was pretty bland. Corn and crab chowder had very little crab, tasted more corn than anything. Brownie sundae was mediocre at best. The best part about the whole experience was our server. I believe her name was Cayla. She was very sweet and attentive. Excellent server. May even say one of the best I have interacted with in a very long time.

Titilayo Bankole: I ordered my meal on Google maps and for some reason would go through. Once I’m it went through I was charged double. I called the woodmore location and explained what took place so that I would not have two of each order. I followed their suggested process to file for partial refund online. I’m waiting on the refund. In the meantime let’s get into this meatless plant base taco and BLT (I crushed) lol.. the food is good and phone etiquette was on point!

Pamela Von Tress: Meet family here for breakfast. We had a great time. Our server Zizi was great. My brother loves the salmon cakes and my husband really liked his waffle. Everyone loved their fried potatoes (yum)

Yourstruly Boston Yourstruly Boston (Yourstruly617): My co-worker specifically said this place is your best bang for your buck lol! Nothing exotic but not bad for under 10 bucks. As opposed to a hit or a miss from Panera and tiny portions. I added my own salsa on the side. Real cool staff

stkmon1: I ordered a veggie omelet Which was dry no taste. As I sat parked on the road in my salt truck ready to eat. I was not given any utensils for the carry out order. When I called it was indicated they assumed I was taking it home to eat so they didn't give any utensils. I was told I should have asked if I needed. Wow! I Will never return.

Prina Jackson: (June 4, 2021 ~ 10:16 am) I been here a few times and it's quite a nice friendly atmosphere. The service is great. My waitress was great. She was really attentive & was focused on making sure we had everything we needed. The food here taste very fresh to me. I would recommend this place.

zella !: I stopped in for a quick bite while my kid was at a show at the Filmore. I got a T-bone and two side. Have to admit I wasn’t expecting what I got. The staff was awesome. They were all really nice and worked well as a team. My steak was perfect and seasoned really well. I wish I had taken photos but once I tasted my meal, I truly forgot to take them. Wish I could give a ten!!!

Kathleen Jenkins: The staff was really friendly, attentive and welcoming. The food was very good! Our wait (for food) wasn't very long. Our boys enjoyed their waffles and pancakes. It was so sweet, our waiter did his very best to accommodate our 8 year olds request on how he likes his waffles. Would eat here again!

Eboni K: They charged extra for Pick-Up Orders. I only ordered 3 pancakes, patties, eggs, and this beyond small cup of grits. They always switch the size of the cup and can you believe this little cup is $3.29. Website states $2.99, up charge with no notice. Save your money and go to IHOP. Taxing for this little bit of breakfast. We go all the time and we pay $30 for two. This is ONE MEAL. Ridiculous.

Eugene Clemons: Took my youngest daughter and my mother here (1st time) the service was polite & professional, the food was fast & good. It wasn't that busy on a Monday so we was able to spend some time talking without feeling rush to give up our table. I could tell they have some regulars that seem to take most of there meals here by there interactions.

Mia K Arakaki: This is probably the second diner outside of New York that I can eat at in the DC area I'm a new transplant. The prices are slightly high. And the portions are slightly small for certain things like grits, The omlettes are kind of small. And the menus a little bit limited but the food is respectable. The servers are very sweet but they do mess up your order often but there's very sweet about it.

Phoenix Raines: Absolutely delicious food ranging from breakfast to dinner options, great location with an abundance of parking ( which is heavenly considering it is downtown location), and great service.
